The sun was high in the sky, and the rays of the sun were beating down on the path, the little dirt road that traveled along the countryside as the heat raised off the grounds. A short, plump halfling sat on the edge of his wagon that had two ponies hitched to it. He looked down the road as the wagon was parked along the outskirts of the village. Lettin gout a sigh, he pulled out a pipe and packed some tobacco in the pipe, and lit the contents with a match. Taking in a long deep inhale, he pulled the pipe from his mouth and blow several smoke rings.

With the recent war between the Fae and the Eastern Empire, the road had become more dangerous, especially with the bugs that were now roaming that region. They were notoriously known for attacking caravans that traveled along this road, which had made it more expensive for goods to be brought to and from the region. But merchants had to make a living, so there wasn't much else that a merchant could do other than travel.

There was a figure walking down the road toward the wagon, which caused the halfling to squint his eyes again. Azusa wiped the sweat from her head and paused. She looked up at the sun with a rather defeated look, she hated the summer weather it reminded a little too much of home. Though the difference from then and now was the evident lack of ice cream that didn't seem to exist in this world. Letting out a small sigh she started walking again.

Final final Azusa.png
Azusa eventually reached the wagon as the old Halfling took another long inhale of his pipe before slowly exhaling it, shooting the smoke up and to the left rather than in front of him. "What are you here for missy? You don't look like the time that would be a bodyguard not especially in that weird outfit you have there," the Halfling stated as he eyes Azusa up and down for a moment before taking another hit of the pipe and holding in the smoke for a moment before blowing the smoke out of his mouth in the shape of a sailboat.

"Well you don't seem young enough to be a traveling merchant, so-" Azusa coughed as the halfling blew some of the pipeweed in her face causing her to cough and wave the smoke away. She glared at him before continuing, "Like it or not Mr.Fellowhide I'm one of the people the guild hired to escort you, once the others arrive we can leave," Azusa concluded as she moved to the side of the wagon getting in some shade as the two stood there in silence waiting for the others to arrive.

Shere
Character Grade F - [Martial Artist]
Anyone that cared to look would see that they wouldn't have to wait long for Shere, bright white clothes catching the sun and cutting an immediately visible figure even from a ways off down the road. No one round those parts dressed that showy without good reason to, and sticking out like a sore thumb usually meant there went an adventurer, aye? He'd walked away from the Ironwright County in Ryke an adventurer in title as well as deed, and kept walking going nowhere in particular till his feet carried him round these parts, where someone else needed help he could bring.

It'd be nice to wash away the bad taste his first assignment left in his mouth, and to travel closer to another country that interested him and shaped his fists with its methods. So he walked into town the night before, to rest and wash the weariness away, and now he walked to the cart. Taking his sweet time to enjoy the view and smell the roses, as it were, and if the wind blew right his own rosewater scent might reach the cart before he did. "Ah, Mr. Fellowhide is it? Shere is my name, and you'll have my company today." He saluted the employer, taking a hand to his head as though to tip a hat he was not wearing.

To Azusa he brought his hand down to his chest and offered a slight bow and a reserved smile. He knew better than to ask whether the girl was an escort or escortee, but again: sticking out like a sore thumb and all.

Bugs. His witch friend now needed some kind of digestive organ from a bug creature. Luckily, there was a job that was in an area that bug creatures have been infesting. Jack worriedly thumbed through the small book his friend had given him. It detailed the biology and anatomy of most of the creatures he would hopefully encounter. It put him at ease to be able to know everything about what he was going into.

After his last successful mission, he had returned triumphant and confident. He was becoming the adventurer he always wanted to be. Exploring the world and encountering everything that it had to offer. He thumbs through the pages of the book one last time, circling the needed organ in a red pen while highlighting some of the more important details with a small pink marker.

Jack was so enthralled, he knew he was going the right way but wasn’t exactly looking where he was going. Bumping into a human girl, his book clattered to the dirt, his pen and marker scattering on the ground. He stumbles with his words for a moment before bending over to pick his things up, stuttering apologies. “I-I’m so sorry! I should’ve been looking where I was going!”

He gathers his things, looking up at Azusa before smiling awkwardly. “H-Hi. I’m Jack. A-Are you here for the escort mission too?” He clambers his hooves around awkwardly, putting the items in his small bag as he talks. “A-Again, so sorry for bumping into you.”

Jack then looked at Shere and his eyes lit up with recognition. “O-Oh, I know you. We never exchanged names though. How did the cave mission go?”

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" cried Rios as he fell from the sky onto a conveniently placed bundle of straw. Flailing a bit before rolling out of the hay. Rios coughed and wheezed a bit before looking at his surroundings. This seemed to be the location of his current quest. Although he would have much preferred some kind of safer transport. After he and the town team for the bandit raid had failed to capture a whole other group of bandits. Rios had been pretty determined not to fail whatever quest he took on next. The directions to the caravan he'd be escorting gotten weren't the best. He had ended up on a cliff overlooking an entire stretch of forest. Knowing he still had one lucky prayer left in him. Rios had prayed to the heavens for a way forward to his destination. Unfortunately the ground below him gave way and he had fallen a whole 70ft, his body flailing in the air. The matter only got worse when he landed on a very aggressive Hippogriff, which he didn't even know grew THAT big. His new bird/horse friend was none too pleased to receive a passenger, barrel rolling and flipping in the air to shake him off. Tumbling from its back and landing in that hay bundle was the only good fortune he'd had today. His body was slightly sore and his mind shaken. Looking over to see two people from his previous quest there. Rios wondered why the sheep was here as well. Jack had done basically nothing last time and almost got eaten by rodents. Rubbing his face with both hand. The mentally frayed Rios decided that he'd check in with the client before anything else. Wandering over to the halfling and waving. Rios introduced himself briefly before promising to keep Mr Fellowtide safe on this journey.

Shere
Character Grade F - [Martial Artist]
"Of course I remember you, little buddy, I was glad to see you all made it back safely! My name's Shere." The fighter crouched with his reply, as to not stand over the goatboy, smiling and extending a big, bandaged hand for him to shake man to man. "Weeeell no one of our people got hurt, damsels were rescued and the bad guys won't be bothering the town anymore, I would say we all did a pretty good job on all fronts, didn't we Jack?" He'd heard that something or other hadn't been to the satisfaction of the guards, but he wasn't about to bring it up and besides the bandit's leader death still bothered him.

It also bothered him that a small child was out in the world taking on dangerous assignments rather than enjoying his youth, but that was life. At least this was good, honest work (of a sort) and he wasn't about to broach the topic when they'd basically just met. He didn't like it though. And before they could talk any further they heard, then saw Rios' dynamic arrival! Shere looked around for the noise at first. Was that a scream? Then he looked up. Then promptly snapped his gaze back down with a grimace thinking the man splattered...only to stare for a moment in vague recognition as Rios walked out, unscathed.

There was only one thing left for him to do: polite golf clap.

Fellowhide eyed the girl again as he took another hit of his pipe and blew its contents out slowly. "Well Missy, that we will have to see, those strange clothes are not helping your case, not to mention the lack of weaponry makes me think that you are not accustomed to this," Fellowhide replied as he continued to eye the young girl with mistrust. He didn't know Azusa had her pistol hidden for the time being. She could already tell that there would be some issues with the halfling along this journey.

Looking over the cart, it seemed like an oversized barrel with a straw roof and some supplies, which she theorized were the items he was selling. She was about to speak when a new scent arrived turning around Shere arrived and introduced himself and gave a nod to Azusa. "I assume you took the escort mission as well? You can call me Azusa," she introduced himself as the Fellowhide put his pipe away and stood up to take a better look at the new arrival.

"See, missy, this is what I expected the guild would send to escort me through this territory. I suggest you take a good look at him and watch if you want to make it in this business," Fellowhide spoke as he greeted the new arrival that was going to be his escort. "Pleasure to meet you, I hope your skills are far more suited to this line of work than this one over here," he concluded as he motioned toward Azusa as she glared at the halfling.

Final final Azusa.png

Azusa was about to speak up when she was bumped into, turning around she saw a half-goat child carrying several books. Cocking an eyebrow as Jack apologized, to which Azusa motioned with her hands it was alright. She was even more confused when the two of them knew each other. Better thinking it was best to let the two talk.

Though Fellowhide had other intentions, another arrival showed up, "The guild sent two children and two actual adventurers I wonder who the last one is going to be? Well once they arrive, we shall start down this road, though if anything happens to my wares, I will be holding everyone responsible. The journey as many of you know should last several days. We won't be getting into bug territory until day two," the Halfing explained as he looked around the group eyes each one of them.

HIMENO
1000091627.jpg
The sound of Himeno's footsteps could be heard long before she could be seen, the heavy steps of her armored feet was a dull thump. Combined with the heavy weight of her own construct body, along with the rest of her heavy armor, weapon, and belongings. The large warhammer would've seemed unwieldy and too heavy for a person twice her size, but Himeno swung it almost casully from one shoulder to the next as she stepped around the nearest corner. Her helm tied to her belt, Himeno's dark hair was in a thick and long warbraid but for a few loose strands that waved in the air.

Her large eyes were rimmed with thick lashes, they grew when she saw the wagon, surrounded by what appeared to be other guild members. She hurried forward, still unencombured by her heavy outfit and pack it seemed, not even panting in the slightest as she approached.

Being new to this whole experience, not only adventuring but just this world in fact, Himeno gave a small bow to them all before her lips curled into a nervous smile and toeing the ground with a boot tip, "Hello! It's nice to meet you all! I'm Himeno Katsuragi, I will try not to slow our party down. Please..take care of me. Thank you!"

John Doe
Human [Mundane] | Mage | Ryken Adventurer [F]

John was dissatisfied with how his last mission turned out. What started out as an simple way to earn some coin turned into an opportunity for some self-assessment. He thought he was competent enough to actually take out experienced criminals with what little experience he had. He couldn't even push through with his own convictions. He was naïve, and after everything that had taken place, John became well aware of that. However, he was fortunate enough to not be the type to wallow in one's own failures. Remaining idle wouldn't help him improve in what he lacked. If he wanted to get better, he had to continue moving forward. As soon as he could, John picked himself back up and headed out for another mission.

From the town of Carbon, John made his way to the village of Kaisertin. Instead of another bounty, John decided to take part on an escort mission. Through his travels, he had heard of the Eastern Empire, but everything he knew was basically superficial knowledge. Who they were escorting and why he needed to be escorted where still unanswered questions as far as John was concerned. Scanning his surroundings, it wasn't difficult to spot the wagon stationed outside of the village.

"That must be the halfling merchant." John squinted his eyes, trying to get a better look at who he believed to be their employer. "And the rest are probably..." John's sentence was cut short as he noticed a few familiar faces. They were far from being acquaintances but they were certainly not strangers. When he was close enough, John raised a hand into the air, waving it slowly in an attempt to garner the group's attention. "Good day! I'm from the Ryken Adventurers Guild!" A nasally twang echoed with his voice as he spoke. "Pardon my tardiness, Mr. Fellowhide." John bowed his head slightly at the elderly merchant. "My name is John. It is a pleasure to meet you all." Despite his courteous words, John's voice was strangely monotonous and somewhat apathetic. Regardless of his lack of vocal inflections, John turned to and briefly met the gazes of Jack, Rios, and Shere specifically, giving them each a nod. It was John's attempt at subtly acknowledging them and the fact that they would be working with each other once again.

Jack wasn’t offended at the halfling, he knew he wasn’t exactly the image of an adventurer. “Don’t worry, Mr.Fellowhide, I have been doing diligent research ever since I found out I was assigned here. I actually learned a lot of interesting facts about the bugs that are encroaching on the territory such as–” Jack begins talking to the halfling until John shows up and Jack hops over excitedly.

“Oh, it’s you! It’s nice to see you again!” The goat skips over to the boy, hugging him. “The ride takes a few days, so It’s nice to have a friend to talk to.” Jack comments while smiling, gently guiding John closer to the group in an attempt to make him feel welcome. "I always love going on adventures like these because the journey is the best part."

Shere
Character Grade F - [Martial Artist]
"Ahaha, what a colorful group we have, that's great! At least we won't be bored on the road!" Shere exclaimed as he stood back to his full height, still lightly clapping in encouragement and giving Himeno a little bow by way of greetings. He also eyed the merchant's reaction to the ragtag bunch. Three youngins and three people who vaguely looked the part, of which one had shown up by comedic happening, one seemed to be wearing armor altogether too bulky for her frame and one that seemed better fit for a different kind of escort work. He had to admit, if he'd been the client he probably would've been upset as well.

Which, really, just made it all the more fun. "Ah, seeing as we've yet to test anyone's skills I would not be so quick to judge, Mr. Fellowhide! I know three people here now who just got through dealing with a bandit bounty in Ironwright County, after all." He answered John's nod with one of his own as he spoke, leaving out his part in that business other than his little pep talk with Jack. Nevermind the slight issue the town team had encountered, no need to bring that up. "I do appreciate the vote of confidence, of course, thank you for that. A little kindness never hurt anyone, did it?"

"Now, anything in particular we should know? Other potential risks, recent incidents you are wary of, priority cargo? Any fruits or vegetables to declare?"

He said the last part in an obviously joking tone, and made a mental note to ask Jack about the bugs on the ride. Any knowledge on an opponent helped.

The halfling, Fellowhide, seemed a bit gruff and quick to judge, but Himeno had dealt with people much the same in her past life and knew that initially there was little to do, it would take time and effort to get on their better side. She would of course try to, Mr. Fellowhide being her boss in this situation, it would be best.

Azusa seemed like a nice girl, Himeno smiled and waved at her in greeting, she also felt sorry for how Mr. Fellowhide was speaking to her, "Sir..perhaps..you shouldn't be so harsh, yes? Appearances are not everything.. as I'm sure you know."

Himeno fought not to hug the cute little goat boy, Jack, watching him clop around on those adorable hooves, but she did manage to smile at him with a little wave. Despite Himeno's armored attire, she was a girl and did enjoy cute things, not especially goat boys, but anything that could be considered adorable...though that was relative, she supposed.

John, the one with glasses, had ignored her for the most part it seemed, but Himeno was used to such things, never considered herself to be more than average in appearance and didn't mind so much.. though it was a little disheartening. With a sigh Himeno accepted that she would just have to try to make the best of the situation.. a job was a job and she needed the money, there wasn't anyone else she could depend on but herself. Hopefully she could make friends with her allies during this journey.

The one named Shere seemed confident and knowledgeable.. and friendly! Himeno returned his bow and grinned in return, before laughing at his jab at humor.. though she quickly smothered her amusement seeing Mr. Fellowhide's expression. Perhaps this quest wouldn't be so bad? Still it was her very first, so she would have to try extra hard so as not to slow down the others.. in truth though, Himeno hoped to learn from them as well, especially Mr. Fellowhide, since Himeno was trying to become a merchant herself.

Final final Azusa.png
Fellowhide eyes the group as the final arrival showed up, "Good now that we are all present, Mr.Fellowhide is the name, and seller odds and ends is my game. While some people might call this junk, I call it a treasure." The halfling introduced himself as he stood up and moved to the driver seat of the wagon which was pulled by an ox. "We should reach the border in three to four days, I don't expect to run into trouble but you never know. This war has made people do stupid things," the halfling sighed as he motioned for the group to get on the wagon in the back.

Turning to Himeno he cocked his head from left to right, "Appearances missy are what keeps you safe, if you look weak then people will try to take advantage of you. A merchant who looks like a pushover more than likely will be treated as such," Fellowhide explained as Azusa moved to the front seat next to the halfling. Who gave her a disapproving look.

"What, better to have me up front then someone with a sword, take them by surprise if that makes you feel better," Azusa replied in a rather bland tone. To be completely honest, she was doing it more to spite the halfling rather than help. But seeing as she had a gun she figured it would be better for her to be in the front. As the group got on the wagon the halfling snapped the reins on the ox as the cart jerked forward going at a decent leisurely pace. The breeze kept the wagon cool as it moved down t he dirt road.

Several small animals were seen as they moved about passing through fields of golden wheat. Azusa smiled as the fields seemed endless pondering what life would have been like as a farmer but, she had people to find and needed to find a way back home. Turned back over her shoulder she glanced back at the group.
What an odd bunch, thought people from all walks of life do this job apparently. Though she was concerned about the goatboy.

As the group traveled and the sun started to set the cart pulled over on the side of the road as Mr.Fellowhide stood up and stretched his back, "We will camp here for the night, in the back there are several tents you can set up. Someone go grab some firewood from the groves of trees there and others find something to do maybe prepare food or something," Fellowhide stated as he lit his pipe before going to unhitch the ox from his cart as his comment on food directed toward the other Azusa at least that what she had going on in her mind. Azuza rolled her eyes as she stood up and looked around.

The flat ground made it easy to guard but if it rained there wasn't much protection from the elements. But that was something to worry about later as the clouds didn't look like they were going to rain. "Alright who wants to come with me to get firewood?" Azusa inquired as she turned back over her shoulder and looked at the group.

Himeno listened intently to Mr. Fellowhide's words, noting everything as knowledge from someone who had more experience in the trade she was hoping to learn, "I see! Thank you for the advice!"

The cart creaked as Himeno climbed abroad, her pack and weapon set aside next to where she eventually sat down. Her movements were rather graceful despite the obvious bulk of Himeno's armor. During the ride, she brought out a simple block of wood and began carving it into a recognizable shape..this time being a bird of some kind, though it wasn't very good, atleast in Himeno's opinon.

She grinned as they passed golden fields of wheat, Himeno spotting the odd animal, and enjoyed the ride, feeling the cool air on the breeze and the warmth of the sun on her face. This world was so much better than the last Himeno had lived in, it was much cleaner and filled with beauty she'd never been able to see before. Due to her weak body, Himeno had not experienced many things..so now with this new one she tried her best to love and appreciate all she could.

When the cart stopped, Himeno jumped from the back, her boots stomping and crunching into the ground with an audible thud, before glancing around the flat area Mr. Fellowhide had chosen for the camp. Listening to the halfling's instructions Himeno nodded, her superstrength allowing her to carry both her belongings and the tent easily.

She wasn't the best of cooks, Himeno was actually best suited for manual labor, her strength allowed her to lift, carry, pull, or push with ease rather heavy objects, etc. So when Azusa asked for any volunteers to retrieve firewood she was more than eager to help, "I can do that! Heavy things aren't a problem for me!"

Summery:

-Uses "Dexterous Artist F": Slight of Hand F + Visual Arts F. Using greater manual dexterity she crafts a wooden carving worthy of common marketplace value. 0 post cooldown.

-Offers to search for firewood with Azusa.

John Doe
Human [Mundane] | Mage | Ryken Adventurer [F]

As the sun decided to call it a day and give the land a pretty golden bath, the gang of adventurers decided it was time to take a breather. Fellowhide had already given his grand introduction, setting the stage for what seemed like a tale fit for a tavern bar, and John, with his distinctive nasal-toned monotone and charmingly unassuming appearance, was about to add his own unique flavor to the tale.

Now, let's be real here – this guy wasn't about to arm wrestle trolls anytime soon. If muscles were a currency, he'd be bankrupt. Even if he jumped in to help with the firewood, it'd be like trying to put out a forest fire with a watering can. He had a feeling he'd be more in the way than anything else. So, what's a mage with a knack for strategy to do? Well, he opted for the next best thing – standing guard with Fellowhide. Picture this, the group scattered like leaves in the wind, and there's John, sporting a bowl-cut that could rival any medieval peasant, and glasses so thick you could probably use them to start a fire. With all the drama he could muster (which wasn't much), he proclaimed, "I might not be of help with wood gathering, so I'll stand guard with Mr. Fellowhide. I can sense mana to a certain degree; if something is off, I can at least let everyone else know beforehand." It was a cinematic moment, if your idea of cinematic involved a gnome-sized guardian with questionable fashion choices. “If anyone would like to accompany me, I’d greatly appreciate it.”

While the rest of the group dispersed, John settled into his newfound role. Standing by Fellowhide's side like a stalwart sentinel, his height of just over four feet added a touch of whimsy to his vigilance. He might not have been the tallest or the strongest, but by golly, he was resolute.

John wasn't the poster child for arrogance. He had a pretty solid grasp of his mage abilities, and he wasn't about to start picturing himself as some kind of solo action hero. Still, things took a turn after his last gig – a little surprise in the magic department. Suddenly, he's got this whole mana-sensing thing going on. Like magical dowsing rods, it could help him in pointing out where all that mystical mojo would come from if there were any. Sure, John was no grandmaster at it, but even a fledgling skill can come in handy. Especially when you've got the dark curtain of night about to drop and you're not exactly in the mood for any unwelcome surprises. With a bit of concentration, John channeled his magical energies before letting it flow outward, creating a fleeting field of magic that allowed him to get a general grasp of any source of mana around him. Identifying the exact source would be difficult, but the amount and its proximity to himself was probably doable.

The range of his ability wasn’t that large to begin with, so even with this, John still tried his best to remain cautious and kept his guard up.

Summary:
  • Volunteers to stand guard with Fellowhide
  • Used Mana Scanning D (Flux)
    • Magic E, Magic Area of Effect E, Componentless Magic E, Energized E, Supersense (Mana) F, Appraisal F
    • John scans the area around him (50 feet radius), assessing for and appraising any form of mana that is present. Its possible source, amount, and any added information regarding it will be dependent on the discretion of the narrator.

Jack sat quietly in the back, his eyes glued to his informational book as they travelled. As they stopped for camp, Jack excitedly began to unpack his backpack. “I brought enough rations for myself for the trip, but I’m happy to share!” Pulling out a few containers, he sets them in front of himself before opening one.

Inside is an assorted meal made up of crab and lettuce. “All of them are different, the owner of the restaurant I work at is so kind, he always makes food for me before I go on an adventure.” He designates each container to each member of the party, including Mr. Fellowhide. “Some of them need to be heated up, so we should wait until the fire is all built to eat. If that’s okay.”

Shere
Character Grade F - [Martial Artist]
Shere didn't get in the wagon with everyone else, though not out of haughtiness or spite or any such thing. It was a lovely day out, he was fresh and well rested and he had a routine to keep up on, and so he let the crew know, left his meager belongings in the cart and kept pace on foot for a stretch. He trotted alongside the ox, he sprinted a ways ahead and back, he let the cart get ahead of him before catching up and staying near the back of the vehicle in steady stride. He kept this up for an hour, two hours, making small talk whenever he wasn't pushing himself until he finally climbed in for the ride.

Was he trying to show off? Maybe he was but it seemed like earnest dedication to his craft, such as it was, and he remained all smiles as they went. He especially took an interest in Jack's book, asking the little fella questions and trying to get him to show his knowledge. Not that he was going to grasp the full workings of giant fantastical bugs on the fly, but scanning for any immediate pointers on where to hit wouldn't hurt. Wouldn't hurt him anyway.

And when the time came to set up camp the wanderer kept the same attitude, setting about to help enthusiastically, thanking Jack for his kindness with the food and giving John props for his useful skill. He was, of course, going to volunteer for helping with the firewood, but when Himeno stepped up first he gave her and Azusa a comically exaggerated wave of the arm to encourage them on their way. "Wouldn't want to impose and crowd the two of you, don't let it be said I hog all the finest company in the journey! I'll be setting up the tents and take guard with John, but by all means call if you need a hand with anything."

And with that he got started on the camp, not that he was an expert at it but he made do, taking the time to mark a place for the fire with a handful of stones.

Rios was more or less content to watch everyone else go about their business for the majority of the trip. He stopped along with everyone else when their employer decided to make camp. Now Rios didn't really have many or really any skills worthy of contributing to the creation, upkeep or deconstruction of camp. He decided to go along with Azusa and Himeno to go chop any trees they needed cut down. His workout routine had gotten pretty intense after the incident with the bandits. Rios felt reasonably strong enough to at the very least chop some trees with his sword. Accepting some extra rations from the sheep child. There was still some confusion on the part of Rios on why the creature had even been allowed on this quest when he possessed no defensive capabilities. Last time he almost got killed by the local rodents. Following along with the wood collecting pair. Rios would wonder if they would engage in the dreaded Girl Talk that he had heard rumors about. Interrupting or even trying to understand girl talk was an exercise in futility. As soon as he saw trees worthy of analysis. Rios approached them and began the process of using his [Appraisal C] to see which trees would make for great firewood. He hoped there weren't any tree sprites or elves nearby who may have taken umbrage with their collecting of firewood.

Final final Azusa.png

Fellowhide, content with the Ox being tied down by the single tree by the wagon, took a long inhale from his pipe and blew a ship and then some rings going around it. "I hope the guild knows what they are doing, this place is dangerous sending girls who don't look like they can handle a fight is a mistake," he muttered as he turned back to face the group as he saw John on top of his wagon seemingly scanning for something. He gave the man an odd look before walking to the circle of stone that would eventually become the fire pit. Every so often glancing back at the woodline on the opposite side of the camp before shaking his head and sitting down by the soon-to-be fire pit. If anyone paying attention looked in his eyes they would note there no hate in the halflings eyes it looked like sorrow or some kind.

As Jack offered to share his supplies, Fellowhide looked over at the goat boy with a quizzical look on his face.
Why would someone bring supplies you need a fire for? Don't most adventures usually bring food that lasts for a long time on the road? He thought to himself before deciding that wasn't too important at the moment. Taking another inhale from the pipe he blew out several rings before pulling the pipe out of his mouth and held it in his hand as he glanced up toward the sky.

It was about this time when Himeno and Azusa reached the grove of trees along with an unexpected addition Rios. As the trio reached the tree line, there were multiple trees that looked like they would make good firewood. Though there was some branches on the ground, however further in the group could see several fallen trees that could be easily cut into smaller parts. However that far in was out of the 50 ft radius that John could scan with his ability.

"So, where are you from, Himeno?" Azusa inquired as she reached the first fallen tree and started to look at the condition of the wood. After a moment knocked on the tree, and with a nice solid thud, she smirked. Her brown eyes rested on the tree as she looked at the other two, "I think this is the one we should cut this one into smaller chunks, it seems like the healthiest of the ones, though I don't have something to cut it with unless we want to stick with sticks and stuff that has fallen," she pointed out as she glanced to the other two. As she walked back around there was another sound as an arrow hit one of the fallen trees, causing Azusa to spin around and pull out her pistol as there was a yelling as several bandits started to charge them.

Azusa aimed at the closest one charging at her with a sword, she fired off a chalk round center mass as it landed the round exploded as chalk flew in the air but the bandit kept on coming. She then aimed again this time for the head sending another chalk round hitting the bandit in the head and knocking him out as she rolled out of the way as another arrow came her way. Two bandits were now both charging the other two with axes in the air.

Shere
Character Grade F - [Martial Artist]
Even if the screaming wasn't enough to catch everyone's attention, the telltale crack of gunpowder echoing through the woods ought to do the trick. Well then. "Looks like the ladies need some help so I'll be going over! Jack n John, you two worked together before and came out of it alright so do stick together will you?" He spoke calm and clear, no startling at the noise, no panic, no rushing, but he was already making his way towards the treeline tightening the wraps on his hands. "If John can sense people coming near then you two could find a nice, inconspicuous spot to hide with Mr. Fellowhide, that might be for the best. Yell if you need me!"

And then he was off. The dark of the woods wasn't much of an issue for him, years of daggers in back alleys had seen to that, so he didn't feel the need to tumble headfirst and dead ahead to the source of the sounds. He circled the area slightly, both in the lookout for more bandits moving around and to try and flank the group doing the fighting, and when he felt he had positioned himself rightly (or simply got tired of taking things the long way round) then he started moving to battle. He stepped forth boldly, no reckless charge but a steady pace on his guard, making much noise by striking the trees with fists hard as stone so that bark split and branches snapped.

And all along he answered the screams with his own, to maybe make them believe they had too much to handle on their hands or at least to draw the men's ill intent toward himself.

"Hear, hear! Who seeks to prey on simple travellers on this lovely night, who offends me so?! Answer now Shere's challenge cast with neither arms nor armor! Come meet one tested as a street fighter through blood, sweat and tears shed, come see how you stand before bonafide bravo!" And so on and so forth he went.

"Me? Oh..well, I'm..just from far away.", Himeno pratically stammered out, not ready for such a question from Azusa, her face blushing the more flustered she got.

Looking down at the fallen tree, Himeno smiled nervously before holding up her warhammer, "I don't have anything to cut it, but I can smash it apart and I can carry any heavier pieces just fine."

Suddenly they were getting attacked, arrows were falling all around them it seemed, and by the time Azusa had fired off two shots of her chalk rounds, Himeno had managed to put on her heavy helm and readied the warhammer in a two handed grip. While she wasn't advanced in any way for combat, Himeno had hammered and struck many things in her efforts to create and build things.

The bandits weren't making it too difficult in any case, she held the warhammer much like one would a baseball bat, from what she remembered from her previous life in any case, and stepped forward to meet them, knowing that Azusa was not as armored as Himeno was.

"E-excuse me! I'm sorry about this, but you are attacking us.", She stammered even as an arrow deflected off her heavy armor, before swinging full force at the closest bandit. The heavy weapon not just striking the bandit's upraised axe, but smashing through it in an explosion of tempered wood before crashing into the bandit's chest.

"A-apologies!", Himeno exclaimed before swinging the warhammer once again in a reverse stroke, the blow rather clumsy, but enough to send the bandit's axe flying as the head of Himeno's weapon crashed into his arm. The bandit fell to the ground screaming, his arm at an odd angle, and Himeno stood over him, the hammer held above her head, "P-please, excuse me!"

With a grunt she smashed the weapon down on him, only stopping when it appeared he was no longer thrashing..or moving at all, Himeno frowned, panting and with the weapon still gripped in both hands, before she realized the first bandit she struck was now recovering. Himeno sighed but knew that this was how combat went, when an enemy attacked you, or your group, a person had to defend themselves. Arrows still pinging off her armor, Himeno made her way towards the fallen enemy, intent on finishing him off, but then had an idea come to her.

She bent down and picked up the bandit in her off hand, holding him in front of her as the arrows continued, aided by her super strength, and shouted out towards the direction of where the arrows were coming, "I have your friend! You should stop, please!"

An arrow planted itself in her human shield and Himeno winced, it seemed there really wasn't any honor amongst thieves. In any case, Himeno now had a makeshift shield as she turned towards Azusa, calling out worriedly, "Are you alright?"

Summery: -Attacked bandit #3
-Attacked and finished bandit #4
-Used Super strength F to pick up bandit#3 as shield

John Doe
Human [Mundane] | Mage | Ryken Adventurer [F]

John, the aspiring mage and adventurer, found himself surprisingly relieved as he failed to stumble upon anything remotely interesting from his magical scan. Sure, he yearned for more experience, but the idea of putting the lives of others in jeopardy? Well, that was a trade-off he'd rather pass on.

Their seemingly tranquil camp setup was rudely interrupted as screams and a gunshot shattered the peaceful atmosphere. Ah, yes, just what they needed - a classic confrontation. Because apparently, their job description involved attracting trouble like a magnet.

Quick as a blink, John turned to Shere, giving him a nod. "Leave the camp to us." His words were unwavering and resolute. Not that it had been long since his last escapade, but now he had a fancy title to uphold. He was the equivalent of a junior adventurer in the realm of Ryken, after all.

"Mr. Fellowside, stick with us," he declared to the elderly halfling, arm outstretched like he was herding a particularly stubborn sheep towards the wagon. And then there was Jack, the paragon of vigilance. John's words were a gentle nudge at the obvious: "Jack, keep your guard up. We don't exactly know what we're up against."

In a move that could only be described as 'spectacularly average,' John attempted his version of clairvoyance. He tried to peek into the not-so-distant future, hoping to dodge any incoming curveballs. It was like trying to predict the next move of a mischievous cat – tricky, unpredictable, and possibly futile. But still, he had to try.

Summary:
  • Agreed with Shere's actions
  • Guided Mr. Fellowhide to the wagon and spoke with Jack
  • Used [Precognition F + Energized F + Supersense (Mana) F + Appraisal F] just in case any attacks came their way

Rios
Location: Grove

Rios wasn't able to get a very good look at some of the trees on account of a BANDIT RAID. It was like the heavens were offering him a second chance to truly put down a troupe of bandits. Azusa had opened fire immediately much like Darin the kobold rifleman from his last quest. The ranged support from Azusa would prove invaluable for the fight to come. Himeno and that hammer of hers looked ready to bash a few skulls in. This gave Rios some confidence to begin his own attack. Taking a deep breath of fresh air into his lungs. Rios could feel his body begin to wake up from its settled state. His heart began pumping, blood raced through his veins and the anxieties in his brain cleared like clouds after a rainstorm. He still lacked formal training or any sort of technique. Thus all Rios could rely on was those around him and the luck he had carried all the way to this point. Drawing his [Iron Sword F] from its sheath. The handle was showing signs of wear due to the mishandling by its original bandit owner and then Rios's constant use of it in his training.

Exhaling to the point where he could have sworn he swore his breath. Rios dug his feet into the ground and charged at the bandits coming at Azusa. He put his trust in her to provide cover fire while he dealt with the closer of her foes. Not knowing any moves but wanting to give his all. A memory came to his mind of the Hippogriff which had carried him here. The way it had attempted to render him dizzy by spinning with its impressive speed. Recalling the feeling of the wind pushing against his face. Rios came up with his first improvised technique. Putting his faith in [Luck D] to see him through. He spun like a blade wielding cyclone in order to strike down his opponents with unpredictable movements.

Actions:
1: Breathe
2: Move toward bandit
3: B-Rank STR + [Lucky D]

Jack’s ears perked up at the sound of an altercation, his body shivering in fear as his teammates went to deal with it. He stuck beside Mr.Fellowhide, nodding to John. He looks to both of them, trying to hide his trembling form.

He smiles awkwardly at them before clopping his feet awkwardly. He claps his hands very quietly, stimming as he continues to listen to the battle in somewhat clarity due to his [heightened sense] of [sound]. He brings his fingers up to his mouth, gnawing at his fingernails. He avoids biting any of them off, as his cuticles are already peeled and bloodied.

Final final Azusa.png

Fellowhide didn't argue all that much as he was directed back toward the wagon where he got inside the covered section and waited. While the others at the camp were either standing guard or moving toward the action that was going on in the grove of trees. The group that was going toward the action could now see the fighting going on, as Shere was called out to the bandits to which the archer looked up and fired and arrow off in that direction landing on a tree to next to him.

As one of the bandit raised his axe it was quickly shattered by Himeno as the war hammer was swung around and broke through the defense of the bandit. As Azusa was about to move on to the next target Himeno grabbed one of the bandits who quickly was filled with arrows and screamed in pain as the arrows were loosed again before he went limp.

"I'm fine, I can see the attacks before they hit me, I'm more concerned about the camp," Azusa stated as she poked around Himeno and then rushed forward to the next closest bandit now that there were only 5 left that they could see now. When she got close she used Point Blank and then followed up with firing a single round toward the target. The first round hitting the target in the chest and then the round following it hit the bandit square in the face knocking him out as the chalk exploded on impact.

As Rios charged forward toward the bandit, he made contact cutting the bandit down in a single hit however, for a second the sword looked fine before it broke the blade in half. One of the bandits laughed and pointed at Rios as he couldn't believe that he had just saw that.

Shere
Character Grade F - [Martial Artist]
Arrows in flight did not deter Shere in the least, he yelled again in wordless challenge and charged with fists raised. Maybe it was courage, maybe recklessness that saw him meet the foe head-on, maybe it was dedication to throw himself into danger so that others wouldn't have to. And was there some careful tactical consideration in the spur of the moment? After all, pressing to reduce the gap in range was better than giving them the room to pick at him and his companions at will before retreating, what with that the low light and wooded environment providing plenty of cover for his advances.

Seeing Azusa and Himeno handle themselves perfectly well his attention was drawn to Rios, and the fact that he had gained the foes' attention and was short a sword. "Good move! New weapon coming up!" He called out as he picked up speed, dashing with sure footing until he was about a stride's away from the two bandits closest. There he bent at the knees, the muscles on his legs strained and he launched himself into a pounce...but was his aim off?

For the briefest of moments he seemed to be sailing through the air at nothing but the space between the foes.

And then he spread out his arms. Each aimed at a bandit's neck.

Shere's fists were hard as rocks, so were his palms, a swing of his forearms was like catching a cudgel, no matter what he hit with it was to be a brutal clothesline on both men. A right and proper lariat. Whether they were hit on their face, their throat, the back of their heads, the entirety of his strength and weight was slamming into the bandits like a guillotine and the fighter had a ferocious followthrough, dropping to a crouch and straining to bring his arms down and slam his foes to the ground along with him. Left alive, as was his style, but unconscious, battered and concussed that they might wish not to awaken.

And he wasn't done, no sir. From that crouch he gave Rios an encouraging nod, took a single deep breath and sped off once more in another sprint, towards the back line of the remaining would-be robbers. Without breaking his stride he called out once more: "The travelers fight with skill and vigor, the ladies accosted were no damsels in distress, your numbers thin, lay down your arms and surrender! There need not be any more death on this lovely night!"

ACTIONS:
1) Move towards the two nearest bandits.

2) Attack with ability Formless [F] - Accurate F, Area F, Blight F (Bludgeoning), Blind Fighter, Contact F, Continuing F (Pain), Flexible, Hot Shot F, Linked F, Multidimensional, Nonlethal F, Penetrating F, Selective - 0 post cooldown. Strength D (3), Natural Weapon E (2), Formless F (1) = 6 base combat effectiveness.

3) Keep moving towards the other bandits.
