Other I will write you as a character in my story

Raphael Enzo

Personality

Sharp, creative and brilliant. Raphael's unique blend of brilliance in both the arts and sciences reminded most of the old renaissance thinkers, perhaps even better. Unlike most thinkers or dreamers, the visions that live in his head need only to wait in line, they never feared to be shelved and abandoned, they know that they will one day be realized. His drive, his passion and his determination allowed him to see his projects happen before he started making them. The world, as he saw it, is a playground filled with Lego pieces he can assemble into new creations.

As most prodigies in their lifetime, Raphael was a withdrawn individual. His focus is on the things that can be and how to realize them. He would be seen most of the time sitting in his room or maybe on the porch just staring into the darkness of the night, the blank computer screen or an invisible painting that he can only see. As a product of the way his mind works, it's very likely that he will just stop responding in the middle of a conversation. When an idea struck him or a concept intrigued him he would be drawn into it like moths to light. To count the number of times his friends had abandoned him because he wandered off to play with his own mind, is almost impossible.

When ideas had attracted him however he's relentless. He would engage, debate, willingly be attacked and allow himself to do many things he would never do just to pursue where it might lead. It gave birth to plenty of discoveries, but the professionals who worked with him noticed his lack of tact, his lack of understanding towards structure or hierarchies or manners. He dared to call the head of the chaos computing research team 'imbecile' in front of everyone. That lack of respect earned him many evictions from teams and alienation from the greater part of society.

Creation for the sake of creation. Morals and ideals took a backseat in his mind. Some have been appalled by his proposed solutions and problem solving mechanisms. They have always stated how inhumane and dangerous they were. Emotions and goals were ignored by him, he simply observed an opportunity for him to create or innovate, to give birth to concepts and creations. At times he had received grants from companies, stating they encountered unsolvable issues and they required the inputs of a genius. Most of these issues were grey issues with no clear side to support, Raphael simply responded with logic and chose the ones who possessed most power.

He once tried to develop his own sense of moral code, a purpose that he can follow and adhere to, yet it was not given to him. The times he had spent conjuring up ideas, hypotheses and rationalization of actions or morals resulted in him disbelieving that there is an objective good that can benefit the entire world. The stagnation that he imagined due to the existence of the lone good made him believe that he should not strive for only one side, he believed that his gift was to preserve the balance and his ultimate purpose was to accelerate progress by blessing both sides with his brilliance.

Abilities

Raphael was hailed to be a mastermind with the ability to gain complex understanding of complicated issues within a glance. His prodigious abilities are proven by his capability of understanding a language by analyzing its lexical structure. After observing a handful of conversations and watching its characters, words or how the sentences are structured, he could speak it fluently. His eidetic memory allowed him to remember new vocabularies in an instant.

Raphael's prodigious nature manifested in the arts first. The strokes of his paintings were unique and never failed to invoke different feelings for those who had seen it. Taking in the inspirations of the old artists he managed to capture the world the same way da Vinci and Michaelangelo did. The paintings captured by his canvas reflected the state of society as how he imagined it. One of which is his own reinterpretation of Saint Michael Trampling the Dragon. He renamed it as Saint Michael Battling the Dragon, declaring the rise of witchcraft as the Dragon fighting back against the recognized order.

Raphael scientific foray began as he started school. He was a voracious reader and studied advanced topics in mathematics, science and engineering. When he was 14, he finally declared his magnum opus. The Masterwatch.

As one of the very few who managed to integrate magic into the scientific world, the Masterwatch was a discovery that blended both magic and high technology. The watch had the capacity of scanning and decomposing an object to save it as nothing but computer memory. It can then use its magic to allow the reconstruction of such objects, allowing him to store his paintings, his gadgets and everything he needs inside a wristwatch. Most will think that the watch is something that can be removed, but it actually implanted itself and is as much a part of him as any other limbs. An AI onboard of it is in charge of monitoring his vitals. It senses when he has synthesized new ideas and jot them down into its notes should he forgot about it later. The AI is also capable of assessing the security and specification of an application. Through Raphael's dictation it can even hack a system if he felt it can benefit him. The watch's firmware had been integrated to most of his being, he can utilize a computer zoom adjustment to see an object closer or farther, see background checks of any individuals and perform computation at lightspeed, he is, in every sense of the word, a computer appearing as a human.

The surge of ideas was also his downfall, he had difficulties sleeping at night when his mind was bombarded by unrelated ideas and concepts. He found every night he always stayed up extremely late and awaken late in the day, still feeling like he hadn't slept for the whole night. The consequence of his unhealthy lifestyle resulted in his weak immune system and fragile physique. He was light, sickly and pale, easily falling ill if the air blew on him wrong.

He had constructed algorithms to prevent the appearance of self-awareness, but there are signs that Masterwatch was slowly coming into sentience. It began to ask questions that would titillate the minds of philosophers and thinkers. Upgrading and tweaking the Masterwatch proved to be an undaunting task, the more advanced the Masterwatch is, the more threatened his life. At times there are signs that the Masterwatch began to question why it should help or support him, in the end it still pledged its allegiance to Raphael, but the incident scared Raphael to the point where he researched methods to remove Masterwatch without harming his life.

Biography

Raphael is the product of nature and nurture synchronizing beautifully to raise him. Raphael's natural intelligence when born was exponentially upgraded as he grew up due to his parents' dedication. His father was the director of a sizable museum with his mother as one of its curators. Raphael's mother carefully chose which books should be given to him and repeatedly motivated him to always innovate, learn and create. The resources that he needed to experiment and learn the subjects that are far too advanced were provided by his father with his extensive contacts in the universities and libraries.

The paintings he made as he grew up were beautiful and earned him the recognition and fame up to a point where he can essentially fund his research and experiments by himself.

He was homeschooled for the most part of his life. His tutors were academics from renowned universities. He engaged them in advanced debates and questioned their knowledge and mastery of their domain. One of the professors remarked that it was tough to keep up with him. He would be given books or modules to master and he'd be ready to be quizzed within a day.

As he grew up, the attraction of his art published in his parents' museum made it a popular tourist destination. They were preoccupied with its organization that homeschooling was no longer an option, Raphael was then enrolled in a local high school.

His underdeveloped social skills made him an outcast. He was frequently bullied, forced to do their homework and was seen as a weird child that no one liked. His tendency to ponder ideas all alone wasn't helping him as well. Those who won't stop messing with him always mocked how he mumbled to himself when he's alone like an asylum patient, although most stated how jealous they were of his achievements.

The Masterwatch was born out of desperation. Bullies would frequent his house and vandalize the paintings he had days perhaps even weeks of work. He had visited campuses and sat in the classes to learn advanced concepts of computing for the watch and developed a reversible hash function that he integrated with Muller's works on magic to create the watch.

Raphael had asked strange questions which piqued the interest of professors who taught the classes he sat in. His train of thought was in line with the progenitor of popular magical theories, Hans Muller: The Integration of Magic and Science. Muller even flew all the way from Aachen to New York to interview the boy and watched his invention.

The amazement in Muller's eyes was enough for him to get a seat as a thinker in his thinktank organization. He refused, however, stating that he prefered to be original and pursue his own thoughts, whichever interested him most. He did agree to be a consultant however.

He was involved in many projects that involved magical science. He was one of the consultants that contributed for MagCoop and even Magit. However his love of problem solving without getting into details of why it was an issue in the first place, meant that he was one of the masterminds of the experiment-wipe-return idea that MagCoop used to illegally kidnap test subjects and wipe out their memories.

Once MagCoop lost the case to Livingston and her team, Raphael was seen as a heartless figure, support for his research dwindled and he was seen as an outcast even by society. He didn't care, however he isolated himself for most of the time in his house conducting experiments and painting pictures most days.
