Gale nodded his head at Finnick's comment. He understood River ditching him, Finnick was a bit intimidating the fact that he had won these games before. He had strategies that he knew would work, and situations he knew how to handle. While here he and Lilly were struggling to even find water at one point. Even now he was still considering if this was a good idea or not.
"Yeah it's always been just the two of us." He replied, shifting his weight from the poison marks on his shoulder. "It would have been nice to meet up with another group sooner but I figured no one would want allies from 12." It was true, they were the weakest and were probably to first to be assumed to die.
He looked over at Lilly on the ground shivering, realizing the infection was getting worse. "I don't know how much time she had left with that leg." She sighed heavily, almost at a whisper. He knew she couldn't hear him but just in case he didn't want to scare her. He wanted Finnick's opinion on it, maybe he knew of something that could help.

River remained in her sleep, almost soundless as she laid unaware of the games surrounding her. She had never felt more peaceful, even at home her sleep was rough and ransacked with nightmates. Something about the fear of the games was liberating, she didn't have worry about taking care of her mom, making sure she got to work so she wouldn't get them in trouble.
She enjoyed when her mother stayed away, she only had to look after herself - which at a certain age became easier. Now it wasn't just her, she had Finnick to help her. She didn't have to spend nights either being alone or taking care of someone else. As twisted as that sound it was kind of nice. She did wonder about her family back at home, if there wasnt giant tvs in the town square they probably wouldnt even know she was gone.
