Fandom Hunger Games (Closed)

Gale nodded his head at Finnick's comment. He understood River ditching him, Finnick was a bit intimidating the fact that he had won these games before. He had strategies that he knew would work, and situations he knew how to handle. While here he and Lilly were struggling to even find water at one point. Even now he was still considering if this was a good idea or not.

"Yeah it's always been just the two of us." He replied, shifting his weight from the poison marks on his shoulder. "It would have been nice to meet up with another group sooner but I figured no one would want allies from 12." It was true, they were the weakest and were probably to first to be assumed to die.

He looked over at Lilly on the ground shivering, realizing the infection was getting worse. "I don't know how much time she had left with that leg." She sighed heavily, almost at a whisper. He knew she couldn't hear him but just in case he didn't want to scare her. He wanted Finnick's opinion on it, maybe he knew of something that could help.

---

River remained in her sleep, almost soundless as she laid unaware of the games surrounding her. She had never felt more peaceful, even at home her sleep was rough and ransacked with nightmates. Something about the fear of the games was liberating, she didn't have worry about taking care of her mom, making sure she got to work so she wouldn't get them in trouble.

She enjoyed when her mother stayed away, she only had to look after herself - which at a certain age became easier. Now it wasn't just her, she had Finnick to help her. She didn't have to spend nights either being alone or taking care of someone else. As twisted as that sound it was kind of nice. She did wonder about her family back at home, if there wasnt giant tvs in the town square they probably wouldnt even know she was gone.

When the other confirmed it had always been the two of them as well, Finnick wasn't all that surprised, and it was just as he guessed. He smiled a bit shamefully when the other said how they probably would have liked to get more allies earlier, but being district 12, it was hard. Finnick actually felt a little bad, since he was just like the rest in that aspect. Honestly he didn't see anyone from District 12 as useful in any way, or how they possibly could be. They would only be a hassle and harder to deal with, just another body to protect rather than it being useful having them around. That's what he'd previously considered, anyways. And he felt guilty for having the same thoughts as many others, when, sitting here, meeting Lilly and Gale and talking with them, they really were no different. Sure, less fed, and poorer, but they were just as human as the rest of them.

Honestly, looking at Lilly now though, and Gale's comment about her infection, Finnick was thinking something similarly to those previous thoughts again. She couldn't walk, and having her around honestly might do more harm than good to their odds of survival. Sighed a bit, Finnick ran a hand through his head "I have to apologize. I really did misunderstand you two a lot, just like everyone else. I was no different, in all honestly.....but now I really do want to help you guys, and have us work together. I hope River and I can earn yours and Lilly's trust" he said with a small smile.

Glancing back to the infection on Lilly's leg, he sighed "There's not much we can do, other than delay the infection" he said, as he shifted and moved closer to Lilly. He tore a bit more off of the hem of her pant leg, which had already previously been torn similarly, and he used that strand of fabric to tie it tightly around her shin, above the main infected area, and below her knee "There's plenty of medicine in the capital that could heal this easily....but unfortunately we aren't in the capital" he said as he sat back in his spot once checking to make sure the tied band was tight enough, but also lose enough so she would still get some blood-flow and oxygen to her lower half of her leg, but tight enough to slow the spread of the infection in her system.

"Speaking of..." he trailed off as he grabbed his bag, searching through it before finding the ointment he and River had been using for their burns, and handing it out to Gale "Here....it's like a cooling cream or something. It should help cool those welts" he suggested, deciding to share the item they'd gotten from whatever sponsor gave it to them. After all, they were in this together now, and Finnick really wanted to believe that.

Lilly meanwhile, continued to sleep. While the infection had seemed to gotten worse through the night, somehow, she still remained asleep through all of it. Her sleep that night was dreamless, nothing good to dream of particularly, but at least no nightmares, and not having to relive the day's she'd experienced so far in the games in her sleeping mind, or whatever her mind might envision of the future - which likely was gruesome and unpleasant for her. So, while she wasn't dreaming of anything in particular, that in itself was peaceful enough, just to be able to escape from the horrors of her current reality that she was living.

She continued to sleep, though only shifting or shaking occasionally through the night at first, though the clear uncomfortableness became more progressed the more hours that passed by. At some point, she was vaguely aware of someone touching her leg and pressure being applied, but she was too out of it due to the fever she'd received from the infection to really fully wake up and be aware of it. Honestly someone could be trying to kill her in that moment, and she didn't wake up to find out if her life actually was in danger.

River jolted awake from the shifting coming from next to her. For a moment she was dazed, and slightly confused as she looked down at the sleeping form of her now ally. For a moment she couldn't remember the last thing she had seen when she went to sleep hours before. But it only lasted a few seconds before the haze cleared and her memories came flooding back. How long was I out? She thought to herself as she rolled over to glance at the two guys still awake.

She saw Finnick putting some of the cooling cream on Lillys injury. She hoped she didn't make a face at the look of the infection. She knew a little about healing, but not enough to fix something that inflamed. She could only hope for a miracle at this point, or a quick ending to the games. So in case Lilly did win, she'd be rushed off immediately to the hospitals in the capital.

---

Gale appreciated Finnick's motion to help Lilly. At least it might help the pain some, and that was more than what they could ask for. He knew by Finnick's expression that he felt the same way. There wasn't much any of them could do. Unfortunately soon he would have to make some decisions on what he was going to do. He hated the idea of leaving Lilly behind, to suffer this alone - but he knew Lilly and him couldn't drag down Finnick and River.

He figured he'd leave that for tomorrow, he needed to rest himself if he was ever going to make it out of here. It had only been hours since their almost drowning, and he didn't want to add to that. He heaved a sigh, "Thanks-- again." He didn't know how many times he would apologize, maybe until he died from the games he assumed.

He noticed the girl next to Lilly start to shift, until she fully awoke turning to look at the two of them. "How long was I out?" She mumbled to herself, he figured it was rhetorical maybe didn't even realize she had spoken the words. He repressed some laughter at the situation. Her hair was stuck to her face, and her eyes were only slits as she stared at them with a scowl. She was definitely not a morning person.

After finishing up the tie to slow the flow of the infection through her bloodstream, though not enough to cut it off, Finnick applied some of the cream as well as handed it to Gale for him to use some as well, before placing it back in the small knapsack of a bag. Through the chaos it had been in already the bag was slowly starting to fall apart, from running, to nearly catching on fire, etc. But it was still useful and did it's job, convenient to help carry any smaller types of supplies that they could use.

As Gale continued to thank him Finnick just shook his head "Really, don't mention it. We're kinda in the same boat as you right now, so to speak" he said with a shrug of his shoulders. Both their teams were weakened and injured, and both needed any help they could get. And because they were both in such a similar state, it somehow made it easier for them to trust each other, rather than if a weak injured team paired up with a healthy one - knowing there could only be one outcome to this game, it was obvious what would happen in such a grouping.

As they continued to talk occasionally, he noticed River waking up as he was fixing up Lillian's leg, and chuckled softly a bit at the girl's expression and how a mess she looked. Not like he was one to talk though - and out in the games, appearances weren't particularly something one worries about. Still, he found it humorous and chuckles softly "Good morning sleeping beauty" he teased lightly, before noticing Lilly also seemed to be waking up, probably due to the pressure and touching to her injured leg.

~~~
Lillian had been relatively restless throughout her sleep, though, her mind was out completely as she slept, her body couldn't get comfortable, and they'd been in the games for several days now so it wasn't due to sleeping in uncomfortable places that was unconsciously bothering her body, but more so, it was like even asleep she was aware of how ill she felt from the infection, which was creeping more through her bloodstream and starting to give her a restless fever.
It wasn't until later, and she felt some rather uncomfortable pressure and movement to her leg that she started to stir and wake up. Rolling over onto her back, she slowly squinted her eyes open as they adjusted to the darkness around them, before seeing the other three awake and she blinked the sleep away, rubbing her face "Sorry....did I sleep for too long?" she mumbled, shifting a bit and wincing as she slowly sat up, closing her eyes momentarily as just the movement of sitting up caused a huge wave of dizziness to fall over her, so she momentarily closed her eyes to clear it, before opening them again.
She felt terrible, and aside from the pain in her leg, she felt ill. Great, she figured. Especially during these games, it wasn't good to be getting sick. Though, glancing to her leg she knew it was probably an infection-induced illness coming over her. Thankfully, because of the hardships of growing up in district twelve, and even the most simple medicines being difficult to obtain easily, she was used to toughing things out, so her endurance for pain and the like was rather high. Though that still didn't make it any less unpleasant, of course.
River deepened her frown at Finnick's comment. She half rolled her eyes before struggling up to the sitting position. Avoiding her burns as best as she could, she leaned against part the tree and let a sigh, all her days energy was gone from just sitting up. What am I going to do, she worried. The initial burn had gone away, but now she was stiff and everytime she moved it stung. She glanced at her side and internally hissed. It was still an open wound, and definitely the worst of the other burns she had.
She watched as Lilly began to wake up herself, "I just woke up too." She smiled softly, before tucking her legs close to her chest. "You can go back to sleep though, I'll take the next shift." It was clear to her that the girl was in a lot of pain, she needed the rest and River didn't mind taking the shift on alone. The past couple nights she was awake through the night alone so it didn't bother her.
---
Gale chuckled at the girl's hardened frown. She didn't seem to enjoy Finnick's teasing but accepted it anyways. Lilly's shifting turned his attention as she began to wake up, he leaned forward a little to get a better look at how she was feeling. After giving River a glance, he knew they were thinking the same thing. It was getting worse. "Try to get some rest." He added on to what River had said. He would probably stay up with her for awhile, until he too passed out. He didn't mind staying up longer, if it meant Lilly could sleep.
He placed a hand over her forehead - she was burning up. The fever must of set in sometime during the night. He knew this would eventually happen, he knew he'd have to say goodbye to Lilly at some point - he just didn't know it would be so soon. He had grown use to her company, and actually enjoyed being around her. Without he didn't know if he would of made it--
He shook the thoughts from his head. He didn't want to think of it, at least not until tomorrow.
Finnick smirked a bit at the expected response he had gotten from River - a not very amused response at that. He expected as much, but somehow over the time they'd spent together he found it more fun to tease her specifically because of the fact that she wasn't a fan of his flirtatious behavior. Unlike how most girls - even the other ones in the games - most typically fawned over every word he said, whether he was flirting or not. It kind of got old though, and Finnick, while he wouldn't deny he enjoyed attention, that kind of attention he was sick of. But River was different, and definitely not like most girls, if that wasn't clear enough from the start of the games when she had ditched him, essentially. But over their time surviving these past several days together, he found because of the fact she didn't enjoy his teasing particularly, that made it all the more fun to tease her.
Watching as she moved to sit up, he wasn't surprised to see her still hurting from the burns, especially the one she paid attention to in that moment, the one that looked the worst on her side. Digging the ointment bag out from the bag, he handed it to her "Here....try and use it sparingly, or we'll run out fast" he advised, though knew she was smart and probably well aware of that herself. The bottle itself hadn't been that big to start with, and they were already over halfway through it. With the four of them, it'd likely be entirely gone within another day, two max.
As Lilly soon woke up too and soon enough further sleeping and watch arrangements for that night were decided, Finnick decided to get some rest now that River was awake and seemed fine to take over. Tomorrow would be a hard day, for all of them. Lillian in particular was of concern....they'd have to decide what to do about her. If she still had a fever tomorrow and didn't show any signs of improvement, they might have to....shaking the thoughts from his head, he didn't want to worry about such things. Clearing his head, he shifted to get as comfortable as possible, before he fell asleep for the remaining half of that night until they would wake up the next morning.
~~~

As she shifted and started to wake up, moving to sit up she had to momentarily close her eyes and steady herself from the wave of dizziness. As she moved to sit up and spoke about sleeping too long, she glanced to River who spoke and smiled a bit "Thank you, but I'll be fine" she argued, not wanting to be a burden and not help out or anything. Though Gale was soon agreeing and suggesting for her to go back to sleep and rest. Frowning a bit, she lowered her gaze as she thought about it. She knew she needed it, especially in her current state, if she wanted to try and get better, but she was also worried about being a hindrance to them. As friendly as they all were together....the reality of the games they were in didn't escape Lillian, and she knew that for their survival, they'd have to leave her behind if she couldn't do much of anything. She didn't blame them for having such a mindset, of course, though it was still a hard truth to swallow. As if facing the truth of having to endure these games weren't hard enough, and already knowing she was likely going to die in them at some point...with that reality coming ever so closer to her, it was harder to handle.

Sighing a bit, she rested back again "Are you sure...?" she asked glancing to River, since she was the one that had to be up, and she was really hoping she didn't mind. Because regardless of how Lillian felt, she would contribute what she could. But after their assurance, she sighed a bit and reluctantly settled back down, glancing to Gale as she felt his hand on her forehead. Noticing the worry in his eyes, she smiled a bit reassuringly to him "I'll be fine" she assured, able to see the worry in his eyes and wanting to ease them.

Eventually, the next sun had risen, and Lillian woke with the rise of the sun in her eyes, peering through the small gaps and spaces between all the vines and roots of their coverage they had taken for the night. Despite the extra sleep she had gotten, and it being the most sleep she's gotten in one night in the past several, she didn't feel any more rested than any of the other days, and was still just as drained and exhausted, regardless of the infection she now had to deal with as well. Sighing, she closed her eyes as she sat up and rested her head back against the wall of vines, feeling a slight breeze which cooled her heated face, trying to relax a little longer while they waited for the boys to wake up, and she glanced to River who stayed up the shift by herself "Are you alright? Thank you for letting me rest longer."

There was something about the early mornings, before the the rest of the forest woke up. Every morning seemed different then the last, but they each had an eery stillness about them. Today, the air was a soft white with a low mist that she knew would be gone by noon. The water particles hung in the air, slightly cooling from the muggy night before. She hadn't spoken in an hour or so, time seemed to fall together after awhile.

Her burns hadn't gotten any better since last night, and even with the little amount of cream she put on them, it didn't help the sting much. The air now seemed to be helping more, but she knew once the sun came up it would be back to the painful burning. What was going to happen today? Would today be her last and her face lighting up the sky for the rest of her group to see. She knew one of them should win, not her. They deserved it more then she did. She wasn't a tribute someone would root for, she wasn't someone memorable.

The sun started to creep over the horizon, and exhaled a long sigh and looked over at her group. The guys seemed peaceful enough, dealing somewhere far away from here. The rest of the forest was starting to wake, as she heard an animal moving in a nearby bush. She'd always hold tightly onto her knife, holding her breathing hoping it was just a small animal. Get yourself together, she sighed - turning to the sound of someone getting up.

---

The light of the morning shined in his eyes, waking him from another dreamless sleep. He didn't mind the blackness of sleep, at least it wasn't nightmares - yet. The sun rays pierced through his eyelids, before cracking one open - he always seemed disoriented for a couple seconds before flashes of the night before came back. He was in the games, and the only person he remotely trusted out here was dying.

They were still awake of course, but it was quiet. Like they were watching something, lost in their own minds he guessed. The nights can drag on, he usually passed the time day dreaming as well. "Anything exciting happen?" He joked, before sitting up against the vines. He wasn't sure how far past sunrise it was, but once he got out of the little hole he'd be sure to find out.

He noticed the white haired girl jump slightly, he hand grasping something to her side but he couldn't see what. "Good morning." She said curtly before looking back outside. "We don't have much supplies here, we might should head out and look for some today." She sighed. He nodded, she was right. Water would be a priority, even though he still cringed at the fact of almost drowning. "I can look for food, if you want to look for water."

He looked back over at Lilly, "how are you feeling?"

Remaining asleep for the remainder of the girls' shift to watch over, Finnick didn't start to wake until the next morning when the sun was peering in through the gaps in the vines surrounding them, and he grumbled slightly in his sleep as he slowly started to stir and wake to the new day. Another night survived. And Another day to struggle to survive. As he woke up, Finnick felt himself exhausted, and the burns were really starting to take a toll on him and his stamina and energy. And the fact he and River hadn't really had decent meals or anything recently. And while the two from District 12 might be used to living off of small and insufficient meals, Finnick was not, so it took more energy out of him for that reason too. But regardless, all of them needed to eat soon.

As he finally had shifted to waking up, he heard Lilly commenting about them having snored and he scoffed as he sat up, grumbling half-awake "Please, I don't snore" he argued, when obviously he of course didn't know if he did, since he would be asleep at the times. But he would stubbornly stick behind his claim that he didn't snore, after all, it wasn't something that fit his 'cool' and popular image...so he couldn't possible be one to snore in his sleep.

As they mentioned supplies and what they needed to focus on getting most first, Finnick seemed to nod his head in agreement. Glancing to Lilly as Gale was asking her how she felt, Finnick knew it wasn't looking good for Lilly. She still looked pale and feverish....and unless a miracle came, she would likely die within a couple short days even if no one killed her themselves. Just as he was thinking that, he heard the familiar faint dinging of a kit from a sponsor which quickly caught his attention.

~

After having woken up from sleeping longer, Lillian had sat up and leaned against the wall of vines and twigs and such, relaxing back as her eyes adjusted to the darkness even more that was around them, and listening for any signs of intrusion or the sorts. Occasionally, an animal or even bird flapping its wings would move, and set Lilly on edge, just as it equally seemed to do to River. When everything was silent though, those were the most relaxing moments, knowing most tributes were also probably hiding out for the night, and that there was minimal risk of them being caught or seen. Thankfully, they actually had a decent spot they were hiding it. Albeit, it was a tad cramped with the four of them, and it seemed more dangerous because it was on the ground, it was nearly impossible to see them inside from the outside, especially at night. And the drawing silence was actually something that calmed Lilly.

As the time passed on, Lilly would occasionally struggle with keeping herself alert enough. She often spaced out, but more than that, occasionally felt like passing out, either from the fever, or the pain of the infection itself. Honestly, the welts on her flesh felt like bee-stings compared to the infected wound on her shin. But she managed through it, and did whatever she could to distract herself, either paying to the surroundings outside around them, or getting lost in daydreams, of life back in district 12 - anything to get her mind off of her current nightmarish reality.

Upon hearing movement, she glanced to her side seeing Gale starting to wake up, and attempted a small smile in response to his attempt of a joke "If you call the snoring competition that you and Finnick seemed to be having while you slept exciting, then sure" she teased lightly in response, watching as Finnick himself also seemed to be waking up now as well. Hearing Gale asking how she was feeling, she gave a small shrug "Could be better" she stated, since she knew it would be an obvious lie if she said she was fine and all better, but also not wanting to admit how bad she was right now.

River snorted at Finnick's answer. It was so like him to deny having snored continuously throughout the night. Thankfully he wasn't too loud where it might actually concern her about being heard by another tribute. It was soft, peaceful and she'd never admit it to herself, but actually kind of lulling. She was jealous by his peaceful sleep, but also was soothed by the sound. Maybe it was because her lonely nights before getting into the games. Being alone for sometime made you appreciate the loudness of company. But she remained silent, not commenting on it further.

Gales comment made her head turn towards Lilly again, and she gave a soft smile. She felt for the girl, and in the darkest way was kind of jealous. She'd be out of the games before her, she wouldn't have to continue surviving for her life. Terrified at any second that another person would come by and stab her to death. She knew it was wrong to think that, that she should be happy she was at least healthy. But she couldn't help it. The thought of getting her head bashed in with a rock petrified her, and then all of the pervious games came back to her. All the horrific ways to die, and one would be chosen for her.

She tried not to show her weakness as she contiuned to look out of the entrance. It wasn't until a sound, something beeping caught her attention. At first it was soft, she actually thought she was imagining something. But when Finnick made a comment about it she knew it wasnt her imagination. What the-? Never having experienced a parachute before, she was kind of worried about it. Was it a bomb? Shaking that thought away she looked back at Finnick. "What is that?"

---

Gale heart leaped in his chest at the sound of a parachute. He hadn't been sent many parachutes either but recognized the sound instantly. He raised his eyebrows at Finnick and began to move towards the entrance. He tried to avoid Lilly leg at all possible, and crawled forward. Dirt caked in his hands and in his pants where his knees are.

Coming out of the small opening, he peeked around making sure there wasn't anything lurking in the shadows. Once satisfied he contiuned out into the open and looked around. He couldn't tell where the sound was coming from, and for a second considered it might be joke played on him to get him out of hiding. But since no threat was present he contiuned to look around the bushes nearby.

About to give up hope something shiny caught his eye. It was a medium sized silver package, gleaming in the sun about 20 feet above him. Great, he sighed. Just another thing to add to his inconveniences of the day, but sucked it up and started looking for the best way to approach it. "Hey, I found it." He called in the entrance. He wondered what the letter might say inside, hopefully it's contents were something to help lilly. They could always find food, or water - but they'd never find something for that infection.

He walked back over to the tree, he was a pretty good climber but since almost drowing he felt like his lungs were going to explode at any second. Hopefully there'd be a low enough branch to get them started - this was going to be a struggle for anyone invloved.

While it was short, Finnick didn't miss River's snort and he just cocked an eyebrow at her "Something to say?" he inquired with a huff, knowing exactly what she meant by that response, and it was more of a rhetorical question of his than anything, but still, his pride was part of who he was, and he refused to admit to something so childish and simple as snoring in his sleep. Regardless of if it was true or not. Maybe it was. But he still refused to admit to such an unrefined action, especially on his own behalf.

It wasn't long until he heard that familiar tone ringing out softly in the forest, and he glanced to Gale, who seemed to register what it was and went to check it out and see if he could find it. Glancing to River who seemed worried, Finnick smiled a bit "Don't worry, it's actually a good sign. It's a parachute from a sponsor. Hopefully it'll have something we could really use" he commented before he shifted and went to follow outside the entrance of their little hideout once hearing Gale call over that he had found it. Finnick also wanted to hurry and get to it before it possibly attracted the attention of anyone that might be nearby.

"I'll go help him, you two can stay here" he suggested before he climbed out of the entrance and headed over to where he found Gale, and looking up in the tree. "Dammit" he sighed with a half groan as he ran a hand through his now dirty, oily locks of blond hair - which hardly looked blond anymore. "Not exactly how I wanted to start the morning out" he muttered as he looked around for how to get to it. Of course it was decently high up in the tree too. And no one in their group was exactly in climbing condition at the moment. But it didn't seem they had a choice.

He was about to suggest to Gale to help hoist him up, since there weren't any low branches to grab onto, but then Lilly had come over to them, to his own slight surprise since he couldn't imagine putting any pressure on that leg, even if it was only for a half of a second for a limp, he was still impressed she'd decided to move at all. He didn't entirely blame her though...in these games, no one wanted to feel useless in a group they were in, since that could make them a target of their own group, depending on the people they were with.

~~~
As Gale was already quick to start heading out of the hideout and look for the parachute, Lillian shifted, moving her leg so that it would be easier for him to get past her and out of the hideout. She listened to Finnick explain what she had been hoping it was, and glanced out through the gaps in the vines to look for Gale, seeing him looking for it. She was glad when Finnick went to join, since she didn't like the idea of him wandering around himself. She also didn't like the idea of not being able to do much, and having to sit back. So, stubbornness getting to her, she shifted to crawl out of the hideout.
More than anything, she particularly hated the idea of being useless, and just a body to weigh the group down. So she ignored the dizzy fatigue that instantlyw ashed over her vision when she tried to move too much, as well as the pain in her leg from the wound itself. Noticing the guys seemed to have trouble since it was high up, she had taken her handmade bow and arrows with her. While, it was also quite a struggle making her way over to them in the first place though, but she somehow had managed.
"Wait" she suggested when Finnick and Gale seemed to be trying to climb it, despite their injuries and current physical state. If they could, saving as much energy would be best if possible, especially so early in the morning. Grabbing her bow and arrows, she tried to find and angle to see if she could shoot up at it and knock it down so none of them had to climb. Also, strategically trying to aim so that one; the arrows wouldn't hit and be blocked by any branches in the way up to hitting it, and two; hopefully so the arrows would fall to the ground, and not get stuck in the tree.
Over the past few days, her aim had gotten better with the handmade arrows. However, now it was difficult, needing to hit the package a couple times to get it to budge. Thankfully, whatever it was, wasn't terribly heavy, and within a few arrows, she's sliced through the strings of the parachute which were primarily what was keeping the package stuck in the branches, and with another couple arrows, knocked it loose where it fell to the ground "...if one of you wouldn't mind collecting the arrows though, that would be great..." she asked, to keep her own walking to a minimum, since, she essentially couldn't really walk, and she'd forced herself to get a slow limp over to where they were in the first place. Of the five arrows she'd used to get it down, only one had gotten stuck up in the branches, the other four falling to the ground on the other side of the tree.
River rolled her eyes to herself, at Finnick's comment. She didn't answer it of course, in fact she hadn't spoken at all to him the entire morning. She didn't know why she was in a mood this morning but she was. Maybe she hadn't gotten enough sleep, but she was feeling extra fiesty and knew she needed to keep her mouth shut if they were going to survive without conflict. Why does his arrogance irritate me? She wondered to herself.
After the guys left the hideout, she quickly followed Lilly after she struggled out. River tried to help her as much as she could, but at the weird angle it was hard to do anything but get herself out. The sun was scaling the sky, and blinded her slightly. The guys were circling the tree, and she wondered why until she looked up seeing a silver container above them. She watched as Gale bent down to give Finnick a step up, wondering how this situation was going to end up. They were all worn down, and beaten up - there was no way they would make it up a tree.
When Lilly brought out her bow, she was quite impressed. Her aim was pretty good, and it only takes her a couple tries to get the container down. With a bum leg and a fever she suspects over 100 degrees it must have taken a lot of effort to mange all of that. "Wow, nice aim." She laughed as she headed out to collect some arrows that had fallen.
---
Gale hadn't noticed Lilly had left the hideout. When Finnick came out and had the idea to hoist him up, Gale bent down with his hands like a basket for Finnick's foot. It wouldn't be the first time he's had to hoist someone up a tree, or over a fence. He was use to that when him and a close friend of his use to sneak into the forest early in the mornings. There was a broken part of the fence they used to climb over everyday so it was like second nature to him.
Before Finnick could get a chance, Lilly voice rang out. He turned just in time to see her aiming her bow at the container. "Lilly, you shouldn't be out here." It was an internal struggle of his, he wanted her to be hidden in case a tribute came across them. They could run and always come back for her, there was no way she would be spotted in the hideout. But he knew her idea was a better one, and was glad he wouldn't have to try and lift Finnick up the tree. His chest was still ragged, and it was hard to take anything more then shallow breaths. But it was miniscule compared to Lillys leg and even Finnick's and Rivers burns.
After he watched it fall to the ground, he sighed with relief. Now they could see what was going to help them, possibly there'd be something written in there for them. He slowly jogged over grasping the cool metal in his hands, and he could hear the rattling of something inside it. I hope this will help, he sighed before sliding back over towards lilly. "I think you should do the honors." He teased before waiting to see what was inside.
Finnick, as naive and ignorant as he could be when it came to people and relationships, despite his playboy show he really didn't know much about handling people, and while it was easy dealing with girls who easily fell for him, anyone else, he didn't know how to deal with. He didn't know how to read or deal with those who weren't automatically attracted to anything he said, meaning, people he actually had to try with. People like River. And, that wasn't a complaint about her, more so, an indication that Finnick really wasn't used to dealing with people like River, who didn't automatically love him, and it also meant he didn't pick up on the subtle hints that she felt irritated with his behavior.
Moving on as he headed out of the hideout to help Gale retrieve the package, he was about to try and get up into the tree with Gale's help, when he heard Lillian's voice stopping them, and her holding makeshift arrows. He was surprised, needless to say, and looked to her curiously, though allowed her to do as she pleased, since he figured if she really could get it down with the arrows, it would be pretty helpful, since the work to get into the tree, let alone climbing it, would probably tire both Gale and himself out, when they really couldn't afford to lose much energy, especially this early in the day.
When Lillian actually managed to get it out of the tree, he grinned in relief, agree similarly with River as she complimented the redhead on her aim "Yeah, nice job" he said as he watched Gale go retrieve the container and let Lilly open it, which he had no problem with, especially since she had gotten it down for them. He watched as she opened the container, peering in to see what it held. One bottle-like container seemed to be some kind of strong alcoholic disinfectant, to what Finnick could guess. The other he was unsure of, but guessed it was probably related to the other. So it was medicine. Something they definitely needed, and something they couldn't really find out here.
As Lillian had come out to try and help so the boys wouldn't have to exhaust too much of their energy so early in the day, she rolled her eyes at Gale, though knew it was out of concern "Please. I'm not dead yet, Gale" she commented, trying to say it in a joking manner, although, knew how much truth was in those words right now, knowing she probably would die soon regardless if a tribute attacked her or not, if her condition didn't change at all. She tried not to dwell on it too much though, she just focused on her aim. It took a couple tries, the first two arrows missed, since she was specifically aiming for the strings of the parachute to detach the tangled mess from the container. The third one sliced through the string attached, releasing it from the parachute that was tangled. The next two arrows knocked the container around in place before it fell through the branches and to the ground with a slight thud.
Hearing River's comment, she smiled a bit "Thanks" she said softly before taking the arrows as she had collected them and handed them back to her, and putting them back in the hold that she kept them in when not in use. Feeling the dizziness fall over her again, she shifted over to put a hand on the trunk of the tree, leaning against it to steady herself and keep from falling over, and entirely standing all her weight on one leg, avoiding any pressure on her injured one.
Hearing Gale say something her her, she opened her eyes before seeing him handing the container to her and mentioning her opening it. Glancing to the other two, to make sure they didn't care, she took the container and looked at it curiously, before finding the latch and opening it. She noticed a couple things inside, neither of which she recognized what they were. They appeared to be some form of medicine or something of the sorts, but nothing she had come across before, and there was also a small folded up note with the contents inside, and she took it out, reading the words aloud so for the group.
River ran around the tree collecting the arrows. Everyone was standing around Lilly holding the container, a look of surprised seemed to cross each of their faces. She wondered what they were looking at but decided to keep looking for the arrows. She'd find out eventually. She was still trying to get herself under control, she felt like at any second she was going to snap - and the hot sun beating down on her only made her more testy. She hated feeling like this, she wasnt used to having people around her for this long. She didnt know how to act right. She figured it was just her being angry at the games and everyone who was involved.
Her side started to burn as she realized she had reopened her wound. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as Lillys and knew to just keep it clean and eventually it would heal. She decided to braid her hair to keep it from blocking her face. She ran a hand through her tousled waves as she worked her fingers through her hair. Better, she nodded to herself when she finished and figured she should probably head back over.  She saw Lilly holding a small piece of paper, "What does it say?"
---
He always knew Lilly was strong, and even though she made jokes about her present state he knew she wasn't doing so hot. Gale realized once Lilly leaned against the tree that it definitely had taken a lot out of her. After handing her the container, he helped steady her so she could balance on her good leg - at least for a short while. He watched as she fiddled with the latch until finally opening the top of the container. He waited patiently for her to pull out the contents.
He was confused by his next round of feelings. Medicine? It couldn't be could it? How much could something like that cost to send out here? He knew they must of gain a lot of support through the night - probably because of their new found teammates. He wondered if it was something strong enough to help Lillys condition, or at least ease her pain? Relief hung around the corners of his body, not fully releasing until he knew it would help her.
He was all of a sudden extremely tired, even though he had just woken up. The events over the past day or two were taking its toll and now that Lilly might be able to recover he realized how exhausting it was worrying over her injury. Not knowing what he'd have to do if he had to leave her behind. He didn't think he had it in him, as a person and as a friend. He didn't want to die either of course, but how could he ever live with himself knowing he abandoned someone who relied on him. Not being able to take care of herself before finally dying alone, the thought had plagued his mind since struggling up the river towards their new hidout. He waited patiently for the words she was about to speak.
As Finnick moved over beside Gale and Lilly, wondering what they had gotten, he also noticed River staying off to the side, busying herself with collecting the arrows at the moment. He wondered why she didn't think that could wait, or why she didn't join them right away, glancing to her curiously, though after Lilly had gotten the container open, she had joined them again. Finnick just glanced to her curiously, wondering what was up with her, having no idea it was partially him that was causing her to be in a bitter mood. A bit overconfident as he always was, he didn't see how it could be his fault in anyway, if it was.
Turning his attention back to Lilly as she spoke the words of the note, he smiled a bit, realizing his and River's plan to find these two to team up with had ended up being a good idea, and received them more sponsors like they needed too. Glancing to River, he shared a smile to her, wondering if she was thinking the same thing, before turning his attention back to Lilly and Gale "This is great. Seems like us sticking together is a good idea" he said as he looked to the medicine inside it "i haven't even seen this medicine before...though it does look vaguely familiar, I don't think our district really has it much. It should be really helpful" he commented, before agreeing to Lilly's comment about settling back into their hideout while they figure out the medicine that they could all use right now. And then after that they could figure out how to go about getting food and water for the day.
As he turned to head back to the ditch-like hideout, he noticed fresh blood on River's side, and he momentarily paused, frowning as he looked to her "hey...are you okay?" he asked, wondering if she had noticed. He figured she must have...that wound on her side was one of her worst, so the pain had to be noticeably from reopening it. If she would agree to it, maybe she should stay back with Lilly while he and Gale were the ones to go out in search of their supplies later. If she was already reopening it from just walking around, she shouldn't move around too much if possible.
~~~

As Lilly was opening the container, she noticed River was still off to the side. She looked over to her a bit curiously, and also worriedly, hoping she was alright. She seemed like irritated, relatively quiet throughout their shift during the night as well as in the morning when the guys woke up. But Lilly wondered if she was worrying for nothing...after all, they hadn't been with Finnick and River long, perhaps she normally was pretty quiet and stuck to herself? Hoping that the girl was okay, she decided to go ahead with opening the package since she seemed to want her space in the moment.

As she opened it up, she wasn't sure of the contents within it, but from the guess of it, it seemed to be some sort of medical supplies. Pulling out the note to read it, her eyes scanned over the words before hearing River asking what it said, and she then realized she joined back up with group. Looking back to the note, she read it aloud for the group to hear, reading off the small note, since the paper didn't allow much room for a long note or anything.

"Clean then coat. It's too early for young bonds to die" She read from the unknown sponsor to her, glancing back at the two items in the container. Reading the note, she figured it was implying that their new relationship and bond with another team, them teaming up is what gained them more support, and thus this sponsorship. It seemed someone, or multiple people, whoever, was fond of the idea of their two teams helping each other out. And the advice that one of the bottles was to clean out wounds, and the other to put on after to help aid in healing faster? It certainly was the best thing she could think of for them to get - aside from herself, of course, all four of them were physically injured and had open wounds on their bodies, so it was something that would be useful to all of them. "Perhaps we should get back in the hideout for now while we figure it out" she suggested, so they weren't just standing out in the open.

River listen to Lilly as she read off the words. It seemed like the sponsers approved of their alliance and decided that it was in their best interest to stay together. She noticed Finnick giving her a look, and she returned it knowing they were all on the same page. She wondered what kind of medicine it was, and what type of healing it was used for. She figured most likely Lilly's leg, and was glad she'd be around longer.

Walking alongside Finnick she heard him ask about her side. She nodded non comittally before looking down at it. It had torn open a little more than she realized - bleeding down her outfit. How did she not notice? She must of been to distracted, but at least it didn't hurt much. "Yeah I'm fine, it must have just reopened." She wiped off the remaining blood, hoping it wouldn't start again.

Quickly focusing her attention back on Lilly, she knew she didn't want her weaknesses to be noticed. She hoped Finnick wouldn't press the issue too much. "Yeah let's get back inside, hopefully this stuff will help." She nodded towards the hideout, trying to help lilly the best she could.

---

Gale looked in rivers direction as she trotted up next to them to hear what was happening. He figured she'd be more curious about the whole thing as they were, but she seemed distant. She was probably dealing with the games in her own way, he knew he couldn't judge her for that. He was too, except him dealing with it was shoving the bad thoughts to the back and pretending like this alliance wouldn't end in bloodshed.

When it was clear the contents were medicine, Gale had a lingering feeling of false hope. What is the medicine wasn't meant for Lilly? What if her leg was too damaged? He shook the thought from his head before following River's lead and helping Lilly into the hideout grasping her shoulder. The heat of the day was creeping up his neck, sweat clinging to his clothes. He muttered a quick apology when his hands slipped on Lillys arm.

He realized something as he entered the hideout, he was nervous. He sat along the vines waiting for everyone, wiping his sweaty palms against his pants.

Watching her react seemingly unsurprised to the wound to her side, and further brushing it off saying she was fine, Finnick frowned a bit. He wasn't sure if he was worried because of the wound, or if because he felt like he was more worried than River herself was about her own wound. Able to tell she didn't seem to want to bring attention to it or anything, he just nodded lightly, and didn't say anything more about it, since he wasn't convinced. It worried him the wound had reopened and start bleeding just from walking around, and not even for that long.

As they all headed back to their little den of a hideout, while some sun filtered in through the cracks it was actually a lot cooler inside it because of the shade all around them, and being in the hole in the dirt was a little cooling too. At least compared to standing out in the sun, anyways. As they all made their way inside their hideout, he glanced back to River and her wound, still a little unsure about it, before turning his attention back to the whole group and their new supplies they had received from their sponsors.

Hearing Lilly's question, he shook his head a bit as he took out the supplies and looked at them "They're not all that familiar to me....you?" he asked, glancing to River before back at the supplies, holding up the bottle that appeared to hold more liquid-like contents inside it "They appear to be strong medications for fighting infections. I would assume this is the one to clean with first, and the other bottle to coat over the injury" he said, before motioning to the two girls "Ladies first" he said with a smile before adding "If it's any good, it'll probably hurt" he warned before handing the supplies to Gale "You should probably help her" he suggested, knowing that applying medicine that would hurt wouldn't be easy for someone to do on themselves, since it would be instinctual to stop and pull away, and also, felt Lilly probably would be more comfortable with Gale helping her rather than himself.

~

As they decided to head back into the hideout, Lilly felt any of the minuscule energy she had left absolutely drained from her. It took a lot for her to climb out of the hideout, what with the combination of her leg she couldn't put any weight on without nearly collapsing to the ground, the fever, and having gone through the effort of shooting the package down for their group. She figure she didn't mind...a part of Lillian, as much as she didn't want to accept it, knew that she was already dying at this point.She figured there was no point in reserving her own energy if it could be used to help those who would survive longer than her save their own energy.

Having also noticed River's reopened wound, she assured her that she could get by with Gale's help, not wanting her to worsen the injury. But also not pointing out that was the reason why, able to tell River wanted to appear strong and fine still, and Lilly respected that. Shaking off Gale's apology with a smile, she shook her head, not bothered by it since she knew how hot it was, and she was probably just as sweaty, especially considering her fever was really killing her - no pun intended.

Sitting back in the hideout beside Gale, she looked to Finnick who was inspecting the medicine "Do you know what it is exactly?" she asked the two from a higher up district than themselves, figuring they might be familiar with it. She listened to Finnick explain how it appeared to be to fight infection and keep them from forming as well, but Lillian didn't get her hopes up about her own condition. She'd already resigned to the fact that she likely wouldn't get better. But she also didn't know just how powerful expensive capitol branded medicine could be. As Finnick handed it to Gale to help her, she suddenly got nervous. Aside from the fact Finnick warned it would probably hurt to some degree....even if it was just water hitting the wound on her leg, she didn't want to think about anything touching it, since it hurt like hell in itself without doing anything to it.

River carefully watched Finnick as he examined the two bottles. She had no idea what this medicine was like, and could only offer a mere shrug at his question. She practically lived by herself since the age of 9 so she had never had medicine around. She figured if anyone knew it would be him, Mr. Privilege himself. This comment made her smirk to herself, but she knew right now he wasn't that same guy he was in high school.

He wasn't smug and arrogant like he used to be - okay well he was still slightly arrogant but she guessed that's what comes with living a comfy lifestyle. But he was different, ever since he came back from the games the first time. Maybe the whiny problems of the upperclass didn't didnt compare to what he had been through. Maybe the usual group of snobs he surrounded himself with didn't appeal to him anymore. She wasn't sure.

She tried to shake the thought of her old life out of her head, and focused back on Lilly. Gale was tentatively applying the medicine, and by the way he was holding the bottle she knew he was less accustomed to it like she was. "How do you feel?" She asked quietly after a few mintues of silence.

---

Gale nodded as he was handed the two bottles of medicine. He wasn't sure how comfortable Lilly was with him, but he figured she'd be happier with him trying to help than a stranger - even if the strangers did save their lives. He twisted the cap slowly in his hand, making sure to save every drop. His hands were still slick with sweat, and he repeated the step of wiping his hands across his pants. Nervous habit he supposed.

The wound was rough to look at, and since he knew she wasn't cleaning it out it had probably gotten dirt caked in it. Hence why he was glad for the first bottle. He offered his hand to her, in case she needed something to hold on to - in case the medicine did end up hurting. He noticed it was more liquid like as he tipped the bottle upside down, letting a small amount onto her leg. It got to work cleaning out the dirt, bubbling up slightly. He watched, holding his breath for what seemed like an hour - of course it probably hadn't been more than a couple mintues. What now? He picked up the second bottle.

The medicine was cool against his hand as he squeezed a tiny drop from the container. "Sorry if this hurts." He gave Lilly a reassuring smile before spreading the medicine on her open wound. He made sure to take it slow, in case she flinched or squirmed. He wasn't sure what this medicine was capable of, he had never had the privilege to grow up with medicine in the house. He remembered a time when his mother would crush up herbs to heal anything - but since they were limited on what herbs they could grow there wasn't much to go around.

After handing the supplies to Gale so he could help Lillian tend to her wounds, Finnick watched in a silent and calm anticipation. Honest, Finnick wasn't sure how he felt. Of course, it's not like he wanted Lilly to die from the infection - or anything else. He didn't want anyone to die, if he could help it. And glancing to River, he felt particularly pained at the thought of her dying too. Glancing back to the wound on Lilly's leg as Gale tended to it with the medicine, Finnick didn't even know if the medicine would help. Her condition may be too far gone to save her at this point and reverse its effects.

He wasn't trying to be negative, he was just being a realist, and prepared. Having gone through the games before...it certainly left an impact. And it wasn't as though Finnick wanted anyone to die - of course he didn't wish for it, nor would he wish for anyone to have to participate in these games. But the logical part of his head told him that at least three of the people in this hideout they were all in were going to die by the end of these games. If not all of them. Either Finnick would soon be dead himself, or, he would be all alone by himself at the end of the games. Again.

Shaking the thoughts from his head, he tried not to dwell on such negative things, even if negativity was their hellish reality right now. He focused his attention back on Gale and Lilly, watching as the medicine seemed to react with Lilly's wound. And as though Lilly's reaction wasn't obvious enough to the pain caused from the cleansing medicine, the reaction to her skin and the wound looked painful in itself, the way it instantly seemed to bubble up and foam. He refrained from making a pained expression just watching it, but, he could also see that it seemed to be actively working on trying to clean out the hellish wound.

Watching as the medicine was applied, Finnick seemed relieved a bit, and smiled to Lilly who looked worn out - though that wasn't much different than before she got the medicine "It looks to be working, that's good" he said, before taking the supplies from Gale once he was finished using it on Lilly, and himself, if he wanted to. Looking to River, he motioned to the larger wound on her side that had reopened "You should take care of that. Want me to help?" he asked, offering to help apply the medicine, though, wouldn't force her too if she didn't want to accept his help, knowing how she could want to seem more independent from him at times.

~

Watching Gale carefully handle the medicine, Lillian felt her nerves tense and pick up as she watched up take off the cap of the first of the two bottles. She looked to it skeptically, before back at Gale. Sure, of course she hoped that the medicine would work, and clean the infection out and stop it before it killed her. But she was already pretty realistic about it and didn't want to get her hopes up, so she didn't. Part of her almost considered denying the medicine. Even if someone from this group survived and one...it would only be one of them. And as much as Lilly didn't want to die, she wasn't sure if she could do it. So part of her wondered that, if she were to die later on in the games, what was the point in saving her now? If she was going to end up dead...all this would do would not only waste medicine, but prolong her death, and force her to suffer and endure more horrific days of these twisted 'games'.

But she didn't want to die. No one really wanted to die, when face to face with death on his porch. Therefore, biting her lip, she accepted the medicine and didn't object, though, was still cautious and wary of the pain it might cause. She glanced to Gale's hand held out to her, at first confused by the gesture, before realizing what he as doing. Smiling a bit at his consideration, she softly thanked him as she took his hand in her own, holding onto it for support. At first, she just casually held onto it, but when Gale carefully poured the first medicine onto her wound, she soon clearly needed the support.

She inhaled sharply as she bit her lip to keep from crying out in pain, her hand instantly clutching on to Gale's that she was holding. Her sweaty palms slid against Gale's that she held onto, though, was too focused on the pain to manage an apology. Honestly she couldn't even look at it, since the image of the reaction only added to the pain. When she felt Gale stop pouring the liquid on her wound, she let out a heavy, shaky sigh as though she'd been holding her breath. Her leg throbbed with pain, and seemed to swell more in irritation from the reaction. However, the medicine, although painful, seemed to work, as with the bubbled up residue that ran down her leg was a combination of blood, dirt, and whatever else brown grossness mixed in the residue. Of course, that probably wouldn't be a save all, one-time apply and she was fine sort of thing, but it seemed to have a positive effect. And the second medicine, which was more pasty than liquid like the first, seemed to sooth the pain, even if a little bit.

River gave Finnick a questioning look. He seemed to be lost in his head somewhere, and wondered what he might be thinking. Perhaps something similar to what they were all thinking. Was this going to help or would they have to say goodbye to Lilly. Pulling her knees up to her chest, her nails digging into the side of her legs out of nervous anticipation. She watched as Gale finished up applying the medicine - and Finnick was right, it seemed to hurt but hopefully that meant to was fast acting.

She copied Finnick's response and let out a sigh when she saw the medicine going to work. She hadn't realized how affected she was by the thought of losing her new friend. Even though they were all doomed in her mind anyways, it was still nice having all of them around. She grinned at Finnick, knowing in some small way this was a victory for them.

When he offered to help her with her side, she eyed the bottle in his hands - debating on putting up a small fight . She didn't think her side was that bad, but if it did happen to get infected she didn't want it to end up like Lillys leg. She knew the internal struggle was clear on her face, but eventually she gave in. "Okay, thanks." She nodded slightly, still unsure of the decision.

---

Gale waited patiently while Lilly gripped his hand. He couldn't imagine the pain the medicine was causing, but he sat there in silent support until she seemed to relax a little. He ran his thumb over the back of her hand, knowing it probably didn't help much at all but hopefully gave her some comfort. The thought of Lilly dying made him physically sick, but he knew they were both living on borrowed time at the moment. He was powerless, all he could do was sit back and wait. Wait for her to get better- or worse, his subconscious thought from a dark part of his brain.

He gave her a reassuring smile as he saw her relaxing a little more. "Seems to be helping." He agreed with Finnick, as he saw the wound cleaning itself out. What kind of medicine do they have in the capital? Was it always like this while the other districts were constantly fighting for their lives? At least the lower districts were anyways. Anger seeped through him, they had this kind of technology and they kept it all to themselves? He always knew the capital was wealthier but he didn't realize to what extent.

"Just relax for awhile okay?" He said, leaning back into the vines. "We'll see how it is in the morning." He knew they just woke up, but she looked completely worn out again and who could blame her.

Finnick had been entirely unaware to River's curious gaze over at him when he had been spacing out, his thoughts surrounding negative possibilities of their future. He tried to shake such thoughts from his head for the time being though, really not wanting to focus on such things. As he watched the medicine be applied to Lilly and it appear to work, he smiled a bit with relief "Bear with the pain, it'll help in time, I'm sure" he said, able to see that the medicine was quite an effective one. It was incredibly strong, which is probably why it was so painful, but if it had been anything less it probably wouldn't have helped Lilly with how far gone the injury was.

After they were done and he received the medicine back from Gale, he glanced to River beside him when he motioned to the large burn wound on her side "It doesn't look infected, so thankfully you shouldn't need this first one" he said, since the more liquid medicine was the one that hurt the most, and it was for cleaning out infections. But the second one would still be helpful, as it would keep the wound from getting infected. Hearing her actually agree to his help, he smiled a bit, feeling relieved. Did this mean she trusted him more? The thought made him happy, but he tried not to overthink it, and opened the creamy medicine, gently applying it over River's wound.

Once he had finished, and none of them currently needed the medicine any long, her packed it all back up and put it to the side. Glancing back to Gale as he was telling Lillian to just try and rest a bit Finnick nodded his head "You should just stay here. You still have a fever too, but hopefully that will go away soon" he said as he shifted a bit, wincing as his stiff and sore body ached from the movement "We need to try and get some water and food....Gale do you want to help? River can stay here with Lilly" he suggested. He wasn't trying to be bossy....but it was just kind of in his nature to take the lead. But he thought this would be the best plan, since it seemed Gale and himself were the most able to move around. River had opened that wound on her side just from walking a few minutes, so if possible she should rest too so it could close up better.

~

After Gale had finished applying the medicine, Lillian let out a breath of relief as all the tension in her body finally let out and relaxed a bit as she leaned back against the wall of vines, closing her eyes in relief. She hadn't even realized she was still holding onto Gale's hand for support, even though he had long since finished with the medicine and Finnick was now using some of it on River. It took her a minute to actually realize, before she apologetically let go of his hand "Sorry...." she mumbled a bit awkwardly as she averted her gaze slightly. Though she was incredibly appreciative for his support and how helpful Gale was in trying to help her, and keep her alive. In this hellish reality they were living, even the smallest kindness and gestures means a lot, and were the only peace she could get anymore. Even if....even if one of them, if not both would still die in the end. Not wanting to dwell on such things, she ignored the negative thoughts.

As Gale mentioned getting some rest and relaxing, she felt bad for being unable to really do anything, but she just nodded her head lightly "...I'm sorry to be such a burden" she mumbled lightly. There was the possibility that sometime in the future that Finnick and River may turn on them...even Gale might turn on her, but for now, she deemed the pair from district four trustworthy, and was glad to have people around her who genuinely wanted her to survive. Even if that would change in the future.

As Finnick finished helping River with the medicine on her side, he mentioned going to collect some supplies that they would all surely need. After all, it was still only the morning, it hadn't even hit noon yet. It seemed they had a good current hideout though, it had served them well the previous day and night, and it seemed a good place to stay until they could all heal and recuperate a bit enough to really start moving around a lot again.

Gale nodded at Finnick's comment. It was probably the best idea him and Finnick went to get the food, there was no way Lilly could defend herself out there if she needed - and she would have River here to help keep watch, just in case something happened while they were out. "Yeah, I'm ready when you are." He spoke to Finnick before turning back around to Lilly.

"Trying to live doesn't make you a burden. Besides we could use all the people we can get." He smiled, he hoped he was being somewhat reassuring. But it was true, they were all tired and worn out - and extra pair of eyes could mean the difference between life and death. Plus he wouldn't have to say goodbye to Lilly just yet, even though he knew that was a dangerous thought to have out here.
--

"Guess you're stuck with us a little longer." She smiled at Lilly, trying to take her attention off the fact that Finnick was putting medicine on her side. The same Finnick who she use to despise was now her ally. It's funny how some things work out.

Not exactly funny her subconscious reminded her. Thankfully the medicine didn't hurt as bad as she was expecting, however she couldn't help her noticeable flinch as Finnick touch her side. She couldn't decided if it was the cooling from the medicine or from another person touching her, and she'd be lying if she said she was use to someone else trying to take care of her. Her independent self felt wary.

It felt like a half an hour before Finnick finished, and she released her breath - which she hadn't realized she had been holding. "Thanks-" She mumbled, before leaning back into the vines. She wanted to help them out, but knew she should stay back with Lilly. To heal but she also knew if something should happen, she'd be here to back up Lilly.

Fixing the singed clothing near her side to keep it from getting in her wound, she looked back over towards the guys. Finnick was packing up the medicine, and she was glad neither of them needed any. Any more wounded and they'd just be sitting ducks, waiting around until another tribute found them or died from 'natural' events. She almost wanted to put the air quotes around natural. She hoped nothing exciting happened while they were out. "Be safe." She gave a half smile.

Gale smiled back at River, "Thanks, you guys too. Just try not to make too much noise and you should be fine." He didn't think they'd be gone long, but he could never be too sure of anything during the games. Gale frown a little as he looked over to Lilly before getting up to leave, she looked like she was on the brink of death and the thought worried him. He wasn't sure why, but he almost dreaded the thought of coming back later and the medicine came too late. He didn't want to think of that now though, "Something to worry about later." He said under his breath

As Gale comforted Lilly when she felt like she was being a burden, Finnick smiled and nodded his head in agreement "He's right. Plus, once you're healed up you can take care of us in turn" he teased back with a grin. "After all" he then added in "You were really helpful earlier. Thanks to you, we got the package of medicine without further exhausting or hurting ourselves more than necessary. And you did that while in the condition your currently are in. I can't wait to see how good you are with an arrow when healthy" he smirked at her.

It seemed the redhead started to come around to the idea and eventually give into it, which was good. Because not only did Finnick genuinely hope for her survival for as long as possible, but he knew that having a negative mindset like Lilly currently had was a surefire way to get killed in the games. Not by anyone in their group, of course. But it was too distracting, and could make someone weak and vulnerable. Which Finnick couldn't really blame Lilly for in the moment, considering that without the medicine, she was quite certainly on the brink of death. Actually, not even the brink of. Within a day Finnick guessed she might be dead without the proper medicine - which thankfully they had received due to some generous sponsors who clearly wanted to see them go far.

Once Gale was ready to head out, Finnick nodded to him as he headed towards where the looser vines and such were, pulling them apart as he climbed up and out, holding them open for Gale. Hearing the girls warning of care for them, he smiled a bit "Always" he said, looking to River with a smile "Soon you soon" he waved to them, assuring them they would be fine, before he headed off with Gale in search of food and water. They already knew where water was, thankfully, at the river not terribly far from their hideout, where they had found Gale and Lilly the other day.

In a game like this, Lillian couldn't help but be negative about herself and her own thoughts - about everything really. Knowing that the odds certainly were not in her favor, it was hard to be optimistic about herself, and she felt like she may be dragging down people who might be better off without them. As Gale assured her though that she wasn't being a burden, and was still helpful, she nodded her head a bit. She wasn't entirely sure he was right....but thinking about it she supposed it was possible it was true. Hearing River speak up though about her being stuck with them longer, she let out a breath laugh "Seems so" she said with a small smile, giving in to the idea that it was okay for her to still be with them.

As the two guys were getting ready to head out, Lilly started to get nervous again, for the two of them. Would they be okay? What if they ran into trouble? Could they protect themselves, or each other? Thinking about the two of them going out and looking for things they needed to survive, the reality of the fact other tributes were out there waiting to kill anyone they saw. It popped the small bubble she had temporarily been in, thinking that the four of them were in their own little safe world. They had all gone a while without running into another tribute, so it started to give her this false sense of hope and security. But now the realization was one hundred percent back, and she looked to Gale worriedly as they headed outside.

"Be careful" she of course agreed with Raven, watching the two grab whatever they needed. Lillian found the makeshift water-holder of vines and leaves she had made a couple days ago, and it was thankfully still in tact and useful "Here, if you find water" she said handing them the handmade container, before the two of them were finally off, hopefully not for too long.

He moved from his spot next to Lilly towards Finnick who was holding open a few vines for him. He smiled warmly before taking the water container from her. "Thanks." He nodded at the two of them before doing a small search of the area. It was quiet, but not too quiet and he felt confident that they were alone. Well, besides all the cameras and districts watching them. After a few moments of surveying, he climbed out of the hideout onto the forest floor.

He wasn't sure what the situation was going to be like when he got back, or if they were even going to make it back but all he could do was hope for the best and see what happens. He waited for Finnick to climb out after him before moving on. "Should we get water first or gather food?" He called out to Finnick, trying to keep his voice quiet but loud enough for his new ally to hear him. He figured water should probably be a priority, however it had been days since him and Lilly ate anything. Thankfully they seemed to have water when needed, and if his stomach read his thoughts it started to growl.

The heat was already starting to become overwhelming, and it couldn't have been past 10 in the morning. Unless of course the game makers were messing with time schedules which they were known to do. He wondered when the next round of surprises was going to happen, and how long they planned to drag this whole thing out anyways. "Well, looks like the heat is holding up." He joked half heartily.

---

With a small wave, she watched as the two of them retreated out of the hideout. At least it wouldn't be as hot now that they were gone. She wanted to laugh, was that the silver lining in this whole day? She couldn't tell if it was the heat finally getting to her or the lack of sleep. Maybe both? With a shake of her head she tried to keep her mind from wandering too far.

"You get some sleep, I'll watch out for us." She smiled, trying to readjust her sitting position. It wasnt terribly uncomfortable in the hideout, however she did long to stretch out on the large hotel bed she was sleeping in not 4 days ago. She wasn't very tired however, and if Finnick hadn't noticed her side she'd probably be out there with them. "I'm not tired anyways, I don't think I could sleep." She gave a half hearted smile before finding a comfortable position to relax in.

She looked over towards the red haired girl, feeling her nervous energy. She was nervous too, mostly just worried about their fellow teammates. She wasn't sure how many tributes were left since she fell asleep early last night - she'd have to remember to ask Finnick when he came back.

If, her subconscious warned.

After Gale had joined him outside of the hideout, he glanced around to make sure no one else was around. It was pretty quite, so it didn't seem like anyone was aware of them being there, and their hideout. However he still didn't let he guard down, and he remained alert, glancing to Gale as he joined him and he started to make way away from the hideout, coming up with a plan in his head just as Gale was thinking the same, and asking what they should do first.

"We should stop for some water so we don't get dehydrated. As great as it would be, I doubt we're going to find food, or enough of it for four of us, right away" he suggested, before hearing the others stomach and smirking a bit "Lets keep an eye out though while we head to the river. Both for food, and threats" he said as he walked with the other back in the direction of the river. Considering they probably had a considerable amount of scavenging and hiking before them, refreshing themselves with the cold river water and hydrating before they started their trek would be helpful.

Of course, they would still have to be careful of their surroundings, and any people, or other threats. But they could always stop back for water on the way back to the hideout, it was relatively close enough. "Do you have a good sense of direction? We'll have to make sure we remember how to get back in case we go further out than expected. But we shouldn't leave any markings behind either. Other smart tributes will be able to find them, and track them, either to us, or the girls" he said as he could hear the sound of the river as they neared it.

Watching as the two left, she peered through the cracks in the vines watching them until they were out of sight, and she sighed a bit to herself, letting her head fall back against the vines. She closed her eyes momentarily, trying not to stress too much. She knew that the group, Gale in particular, had been worried about her, and her health, so she had been doing her best to act alive and well. She knew she probably looked like shit - not that any of them really looked good, per say, however, she wanted to at least act like she had the energy of recovery, so as to not worry them so much.

But now with the majority of the three partners gone, she suddenly felt like a wall hit her, and this time, it wasn't the wall of heat. She felt exhausted, and her leg still throbbing in numb pain. Glancing to it, she eyed the medicine that was coated over the disgusting wound. She wondered if it really could work. She wouldn't let herself get too hopeful....but of course, she did want it to work. She was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard River speak up, about her getting some rest.

She glanced to her in a bit of uncertainty "Are you sure?" she asked. Lillian felt like she could sleep forever. In fact, if she died in her sleep, she didn't think she would mind it. It seems like the best way to die out of all the other plentiful of ways to die in these games. Her feverish head told her not to question the offer, but Lilly wanted to make sure River would be okay being awake alone. "Thank you...if I wake up before the boys are back I'll take over and you can get some rest too" she said with a small smile, before stretching her legs out and getting more comfortable. It certainly was a lot more spacious with half as many people in the space.

Gale definitely agreed with Finnick, water should be the first thing. "Yeah, ive been hunting for years - im pretty good with tracking and keeping a good sense of direction." He sighed loudly, "Which i guess comes in handy now." While he was hungry, it wasn't an uncommon feeling. He had done this before many times when his family didn't have enough food to go around. With him being older, it was his job to take care of the family - especially after his dad died. He tried not to think of the family he left behind, since he was the one who provided the most for everyone they probably weren't doing okay and the thought ate at him.

He wondered if katniss was taking care of them at all, if she had enough time to hunt for them along with her family. He remembered their pact years ago, in case either of them were entered into the games - all he could do was hope she was there for them. Even with the two of them hunting he knew their families were barely making it through the year. It had been a sparse season, probably with the increase of capital vehicles coming in and out of the city.

He realized he hadn't thought much about her since he arrived at the capital - in fact he thought this was the first time. She had come with his family to say goodbye of course, with her little sister. He had always thought he felt something for her, but now being so far away he can't remember what. Sure they have known each other for years, and their families were very close - but maybe that was just it.

---

The sun filtered in through the cracks in the vines, blinding her slightly. She shifted herself once again, trying to find something more comfortable. "Yeah definitely, sounds good. You can take watch in a couple hours if they haven't returned" She smiled honestly, she did want Lilly to rest. Besides, she didn't feel very tired anyways so one of them might as well sleep.

She gripped onto the knife she had, and settled into her spot. She knew it would be hours before the guys would show back up, but she had to make sure she was prepared. She couldn't wait for the rest of her team to return. Being alone out here made her wary, even though ealier in the games she had tried a different approach when she had ditched Finnick for the short time she had.

Her side had became numb from the medicine, which was great because it had a slight cooling affect as well. It was the first sign of relief she had in days, and probably the only she'd have for the next few.
