==> Anna: ???

You aren't even sure if you're awake or dreaming anymore. You lower your revolver, appeased by the lack of other people in the room as you begin to walk down the scaffolding and many walkways, ladders and piles of excavation equipment that are stacked and mounted onto the cavern. What the...what the fuck is all of this? You begin to ascend the stairs, looking at the red snake as it curls up the tower. You are both puzzled and enchanted by the site of the ancient architecture at the same time. As if whisked away into a fantasy novel, you approach the dimly glowing light, your revolver still at the ready.

Within the hallways of the Snake Temple, you find the source of the light: A Large monitor attached to the wall.
Lying on the terminal keyboard is a small brown envelope with a familiar symbol, The logo for SBURB.

But more importantly, a small man in a wheelchair sits facing the screen, writing down strings of characters as they appear on the display.

==>

You approach him with caution. What's going on? Why is he here? WHy is this here? You look over to your grandfather as he scrawls the characters down, giving him a look of what is now fear and uncertainty as you look down at the envelope. THis had to be a dream. THis had to be dream. And since you've realized it you're going to wake up soon. That's how all of these stress dreams have gone.

You pick up the envelope, and see what's inside.

You grab the envelope, inside is a disc bearing the SBURB logo as well. This is the game you ordered.

Your Grandfather turns to face you before handing you the paper he was writing on, you can't understand anything written on it, besides a signature "Aronson, A."

==>

He's still not answering. Figures. He never was much of a talker...you didn't figure he'd talk even now. Even when you needed him the most. You stare at him for a moment, and take the paper as well. The disc just the same before you lean over, and give him a soft hug. You relinquish, looking away as you try to gather your thoughts, and for a moment letting your eyes catch the screen.

He needs you to play doesn't he.

You shuffle a bit for a second, unable to meet his eyes before you turn. Beginning to start for the exit of the temple.

You can't do this.

As you exit through the temple doorway, and return to your building, and then the room in which you stay, you find that you have no idea what is going on.

The paper reads thus:
59 6f 2c 20 64 6f 6e 27 74 20 6c 6f 6f

6b 20 69 6e 74 6f 20 74 68 69 73 2c 20
49 20 6a 75 73 74 20 6e 65 65 64 65 64

20 73 6f 6d 65 20 76 61 6c 75 65 73 2e

==>

You lock your bedroom door as soon as you come in. You feel safer as you curl yourself onto your bed, hugging your knees as you look nervously over at your desktop computer. YOu exhale slowly, resting your forehead on your knees as you ask why this dream won't come to an end. You push your face into your hands, and then relax. You feel your body jitter and twitch nervously as you place the paper on the desk, walk over, and put in the disc.

What the fuck is going on

-> Please wait...

The screen goes dark, then lights up. A Spirograph morphs on a psychedelic loading screen before it in turn is replaced with an image of your room, with you in it.

==>

Honestly just why the fuck not at this point.

You notice a system of controls about the screen which allow you to pick up and interact with your environment around you. Slightly distracted from the series of concerning events that have transpired just now, you elect to 'mess' around, feeding your curiosity. You move your bed to the side of the wall, freeing up space in the center of the room for you to place the first thing from your 'phernalia registry' down in its place.

The large vault like object seems to have a vault like the one downstairs. You attempt to unscrew it to no avail. It appears...stuck. You try harder and harder, but it won't budge!

You turn your eyes to your desk chair, and squint.

==> Anna: Smash

==>

You look up to see the flashing kernelsprite. That strained feeling of your chest tensing up with fear begins to fade as you watch the violet colors dance about your room. You captchalogue the dowel as it falls to the carpet.

Crystal cylinder
Be my guide, and steer me true
Be my salvation

The haiku formation helps take your mind of your present circumstances. You try to interact with the sprite, but it seems averse to your touch. Though it does seem to gravitate towards the large mason jar stacked on the shelf with some of your snowglobes. THe jar contains the ashes of your departed bird friend, Ian. He was a lovely cockatoo, of which you were very fond until his death a few months ago.

You grab the jar with the interface as its too high to grab normally. You don't want this sprite's paws all over it, considering its sentimental value. It hovers in the air as you delicately drag it. Wait, fuck-oh god it's spilled all over your carpet.

WHy isn't there any nuance to these controls?

==>

You captchalogue the 'Messy Ashes' as well. Good thing this thing is...rather vacant as of now. You are spared an extra facepalm and therefore currently bereft of the legendary x2 Face Palm Combo, a move reserved for only the most legendary of stupid occurences.

You notice that there are more machines to be deployed in your phernalia registry. But there is not enough room in yours alone. You look over at your PC, and notice the other controls you are privy to. You quickly expand some space, and deploy the ALCHEMITTER in your granddad's barren move after moving the desk and the bed into the hallway. You then deploy the TOTEM LATHE in the place of the now jettisoned dining table. And finally, the PRE-PUNCHED CARD is placed on your desk for you to captchalogue.

Crystal cylinder,
card of holes and mason jar,
save me from this hell.

What's with all of these holes? You've never seen a card with holes in such an intricate pattern before. THen again, you've never seen a lot of things that you've just seen today. You warily hover your hand over the door handle to your room, and unlock it ever so gently. You creak your bedroom door open, and unceremoniously are greeted with the rest of the apartment as it was with the subtle changes you've made.

You peer over at the totem lathe, and go through the process of figuring out how to and then promptly carving a dowel into a totem using the pre-punched card. You then captchalogue the totem, and walk over to the final piece of the machinery. You place the totem on the small platform, waiting to see what will happen.

As if by magic, the large platform of the ALCHEMITER begins to glow, and a large crystalline tree appears, with a snake and a frog lying in it's branches.

Through the window, you see an object in the sky: A Meteor heading straight for your neighborhood, as it crashes down, the city is engulfed in fire. More meteors are heading for you.

==>

Holy shit! Your city is now engulfed in fire as multiple meteors are raining down from the sky. You suppose this is what your grandfather meant by 'something horrible' in his message he wrote for you. OH god...you're so close, your building could catch fire. A meteor could come crashing down any second. BUt playing is the only way out right?

What the hell is this thing? You recognize the snake to be a symbol you saw associated with the temple and therefore the game most probably, ut what about the frog? Is this symbolic? You don't have time to think. You aren't even sure of what to do! What's this crystal stuff? WHat's this game? What're these meteors? What the hell is even happening at this point?

You close your eyes, and simply reach out a shaky hand to the tree branches. You don't know what to do!

==> Anna: Take the shot

You look over at the scene, seeing the snake slither towards the frog on the tree as you retract your hand. You look on in horror, before in your clenched fist the feeling of your pistol suddenly appears. You look down, and without thinking, you take aim, your eyes fixed on a certain point as you feel the inclination to pull the trigger.

BLAM

Moments before the final meteor impacts your building, a blinding light shines from the alchemiter, and engulfs the entire structure. Then... darkness, then the brightest light you've ever seen. As your eyes adjust, the light fades, and you are in somewhere entirely new.

Your building is gone, but your room remains, resting on steel beams going down into a vast sea of multicolored lights. You see nothing around you but the waters below. The gray sky illuminates the neon clouds, and a series of purple glowing rings stretch into the sky towards a faint blue light.

Welcome the the new EXTREME!!!

==>

You take a step forward, your eyes adjusting after being binded so harshly by the light of the process and he ringing from the gunshot. You look out of your window, peeling back the curtains and the blinds, and opening up the window to reveal the world your apartment is now nestled on. Apartment 13b is now no longer nestled in the gentle icelandic countryside, but rather spirited away into some foreign exotic landscape.

It serves as the apotheosis of a battle between what is given and what is made. A grim and bleak skyline drifts lazily, blanketing the sky yet being illuminated by a myriad of colors which twinkle below like christmas lights. Your eyes drift downwards, noting the subsequent chill is replaced by cooler breezes the form with the upwards draft. You are perplexed, but safe.

You lean over, giving yourself a moment to breath heavily as you take in your new scenery. It doubles as time to process your circumstances.

The Kernelsprite bobs peacefully, feeling at home in this sea of seizure inducing lights, and the relative emptiness of the sky above.
The tree has disappeared, both animals gone.
As you peer through the window, You feel a slight warmth coming from below, and a slight breeze from above

This world is strange.

You turn around and begin to sit. Curling your knees against your chest again as you look up at the seizure ball for a quick moment. You chuckle, if ever so faintly before letting your head rest against your window sill. You take out the mason jar, noting that it's content are loosely gathered together before you hug it softly. Your moment of solace is...rather sad if a bit melancholic as you try to gather yourself. This is at least better than a panic attack.

==>

Heh. You put the mason jar on the ground as you stroll over to your computer. You look at your current game, still running and displaying your house as it did before. You need answers.

You go over to your bookshelf, looking at a variety of the tomes you have managed to purchase, read and re-read over the course of your career as an avid reader. You pluck a single novel out from the overstuffed rows, It's Volume No. 21 of your favorite Magical Girl Series, Puri-Puri No Yume, which was an exceptional series overall that had interesting pacing as well as writing, but you were never a fan of the second arch. Especially how it dragged towards the middle.

You chuck the book at your sprite. Time to experiment. Time to get answers.

In a flash of light (something you are growing used to) the Kernelsprite accepts the new data, taking the visage of a young (but seemingly doll-like) boy in overalls. You recognize him as NORMAN ALBERT, the main character and only non-Magical Girl character in the entire series. His farmhand charm worked it's way into your heart, and his chicanery and shenanigans left everyone smiling when they read them.

He's probably one of your favorite characters, Top 5 at least.

When you threw the book at your Sprite you were just trying to see if it could react to outside stimuli. You were not expecting this at all. But you suppose it is at least a pleasant surprise. Norm Albert was never a true favorite, but you never hated him like some others. Fuckin' Yagura Yagarumi.

You look up at the now humanized form of your Sprite, curious as to what you can do with it now. Maybe since it has a human avatar It can finally speak.
