The Optimistic Pessimist
Rules for CS:

1. You can choose one of 4 races: Human, Giant, Demi-Human (dog, cat, or lizard variation. I will consider an animal of your choice based on what it is.), Undead (zombie, vampire, ghost, etc. but undead does have disadvantages)

2. You can choose one of 4 classes: Striker (fists, blades, a stick, etc.), Mage (magic missles everywhere), Summoner (ever wanted to be a pokemon trainer?), Gunslinger ("I have yet to see someone who can outsmart bullet.")

3. Backstory is optional (You can reveal it in CS or state that you want players to discover it by getting to know your character.)

4. While undead is an option, vampire does not denote immortal despite the whole vampire shtick. Undead will be working under he assumption that whatever happened to cause it, was fairly recent (a max of 5 years)

5. If you are unsure of something or have a question about something you can do, please ask me. I have no problem answering questions.

Racial pros/cons: (this is purely so no one is running around as an angel born of god and a human with immortal powers, space bending magic, etc etc. and so each race has a sort of balance.)

Human: Standard physique and durability and can move about without any sort of problems. Average attunement to magic. Fragile compared to the other classes and less stamina.

Giant: Taller and stronger physically than the other classes and can use super strength to remove obstacles and such. Not very stealthy and not very reliable in tight places. Can not use magic well.

Demi-human: While sporting the same physique as humans, (animal parts aside) they are a bit more durable and agile with the ability to see/sense further than other races with an above average attunement to magic. May fall victim to animalistic tendencies if exposed to the wrong stimuli (throw a cat in water and they freak, make a loud noise at a dog and it irritates them, etc.).

Undead: Very durable and the highest attunement to magic. Can sense life energy and see beyond the mortal coil. Highly weak to fire/holy magic, not a good idea to converse with people who aren't aware of their state, and the daytime can pose a huge problem if the proper precautions are not taken. (Wearing coverings to keep the sunlight off is acceptable to combat this.)

Age: Thirties

Race: Human

Class: Striker

Appearance:

Birley wears a mask for most occasions, not only to cover the face and past he fears, but also to serve as a sort-of intimidation technique.

Equipment: Two sabers, one rusty and one shiny, both covered in layers of cloth.

Backstory: Birley is of a regrettable past, acting out with harmful intent against those who he supposedly loved. His hands were bloody, his mind half-broken, but drops of humanity remained. Little should anyone know how his physical shape came to be so grotesque, but little should anyone even know that he still breathes, for he has gone into self-imposed exile, seeking penance and more importantly, to overcome his past.

Backstory: (optional)
Accidentally killed both her parents and little brother at 14 when she first found out she had magical tendencies. Been running ever since.
The news headlines were “house fire kills three, daughter missing.”

Name: Dr. Armitage Whateley
Age: 27
Race: Human
Class: Summoner
Appearance: A rather frail, bookish man, tall yet rail thin, Dr. Whateley is 6'2 and 130 pounds. He has black hair,
and green eyes, always wearing his spectacles, an antique pince-nez, and has deep bags under his eyes.
He most commonly wears a long coat and a plain white button up t-shirt, along with steel toed rubber boots.
Equipment: Dr. Whateley is never seen without his pince-nez, and a long wooden mix of cane and staff he uses to assist with walking.
This was remarkably expensive, as it was constructed of lignum vitae. His most common familiar is something approaching
a flying eyeball with wings, although he is known to summon a large variety of creatures.
Backstory: Graduating summa cum laude from Miskatonic University, Dr. Whateley was renowned for his intense level of dedication
to his research, which some derided as obsession. It can be sure, he has made great developments in his research into the occult,
but he has sacrificed much of his own health and mind in pursuit of power and knowledge.

Maeve Wildes

Age: 20, turned into a ghoul 3 years ago, hasn't aged since then, just… deteriorated a little

Race: Undead, Ghoul

Class: Mage

Abilities: Maeve is surprisingly strong and swift, having trained in fencing for a few years, though she can no longer wield blades. Even though she’s tough, she doesn't take large impacts well. That's where her magic comes in. Her magic is a type of force or impact magic, and she uses it mostly defensively. Mostly as invisible parries to attacks both physical and magical, but she also uses it to absorb sudden shock from falling. Maeve can also use it to knock back and stun enemies, but it will only deal considerable damage if she puts a lot of force into it-- and overexpenditure of her magical energy, though it is powerful, can injure or kill her.
When she became undead, Maeve lost most of her eye-hand coordination, and has been trying to gain it back through simply practicing movements, healing potions, and her magic.

Appearance: Couldn't find a picture that was even close.
Maeve’s hair used to be strawberry-blonde, but it's now kind of a silver-blonde around the roots and is usually tied up in a bun. Her skin is a little greyer than it looks like it should be. It was pale with freckles, but that’s faded a little. Her blue eyes are always bloodshot and red as if from mild allergies. Her natural figure is thin, but not much so. It's not initially obvious, but Maeve is on the slightly buff side of lean, and stands at around 5' 10". Aside from her physique, she looks very, very unhealthy.
Her outfits generally consist of plain, comfortable clothes, heavy boots, and is topped off by a heavy, dark grey cloak. The only skin anyone tends to see is her face and hands.

Notes: Turning undead deeply damaged almost every bodily process. Maeve doesn't need to eat and doesn't feel hunger, but she still tries to sometimes. She misses the taste. But often, she just can't keep food down. Her blood is darker than normal human blood, her pulse is undetectable, her eyes are much more sensitive to light (but she can see a little in the dark!), she’s unwillingly evolved into a nocturnal sleeping schedule, and while she doesn't need as much sleep, it's much harder to come by. And often, her body will just ache randomly. She uses her alchemical skills to make healing potions or sleeping potions that sometimes ease the general problems of being undead. Maeve can't really even cry anymore, she just falls into retching and coughing fits.

Personality: Maeve is often quiet, to-the-point, strategic, and logical. She doesn't sugar-coat things. Even so, she’s a pretty good liar, and can divert conversations easily. She’s begun to recover from the depression and constant anger she felt after her death and is searching for a less unhealthy purpose. Nowadays, she's not exactly quick to anger, she just doesn't take anyone’s shit. Maeve also has quite a foul mouth.

Equipment: A wand, grimoire, potion-making kit, and also a dagger for emergencies, and maybe because she's too attached to it.

Backstory: Maeve has always like the idea of magic, but was never quite proficient in it, so she settled for learning alchemy. In her early youth she also put forth effort into learning fencing. At about fourteen years old, she found a mentor and began traveling and adventuring, learning more alchemy, magic and becoming more proficient with weapons as well, still visiting her parents and girlfriend back in her home village, of course. Once, in a battle with a powerful undead vampire, Maeve was turned into a ghoul. Since then, she parted ways with her mentor, was forced to hang up her blade (her mentor delivered it to Maeve's girlfriend, who keeps it with her now) and has kept in contact with her family, but less and less so, and hasn't physically visited at all.
After her death (she always says ‘death,’ never ‘turning’) Maeve set out to seek revenge against the vampire who killed her. About a half a year ago, she got it. Now Maeve is more or less drifting about, trying to help others while she tries to bring her life back into normalcy.
