Within the Depths of a Dream

Beginings...lovely things aren't they? The start of something new, a clean slate if you will. And, that is how we, no how all life came to be. But...before a beginning, there must be an end to something else, some prior event. And that, my friend, is where we our tale truly begins.

Mankind had prospered. Developing, cultivating,
evolving at such a marvelous rate it could only be seen as alarming. And it was...after their cities had been built to the heavens, roads leading to every corner of the earth, and thirst for resources sucked our poor planet dry...she retaliated. The skies licked their structures with tongues of fire and lips of ice, seas grew restless and let its fangs sink into the sides of the continents, even the earth itself opened it own fiery maw and belched its lifeblood onto its fragile skin.

I'm sure you can imagine what happened. Humanity crumbled and soon died out. The petty thousands or even hundreds that remained began to dwindle. But during this time, without the harsh chemicals or otherwise, nature flourished. Jungles and forests reclaimed their land, animals were now in a natural cycle of life, the air was rid of its pollution. Yet the most important part of all of this was that it gave Mother Earth, us what it rightfully deserved. Time to evolve.

And that is what we did.

Over thousands of years, humans had become a tale to frighten children. The many continents have now joined as one and we are the rulers of this earth. Though something is coming...a dark, dangerous evil that our shamans foretell will wipe out us all. I, for once in my life, hope they are wrong. Or we may end up like our human predecessors so long ago because...

All good things must come to an end.

It was early in the morning, the sun had just finally decided to peek its first golden rays onto the thick forest canopy. For some, it was a fresh start. A clean slate. Yet for others it only meant trudging through another day of the game many call life. Nyx was one of those who regretted going to sleep every night then having to withstand the torment of her past around this time or possibly a bit earlier. She was curled up in her sleeping section of the shaman’s den, sobs, whimpering, and muffled cries of pain and fear racking her thin frame whilst she slept. Ever since the she-wolf’s feathers had been plucked from her body, the dreams grip her like a plague. She was aware that she unconsciously whimpered or softly screamed yet crying was rare for the all but emotionless old coot. But none of that mattered now, as her nightmare began to reach its climax, but this one was a bit different…

A young Nyx walked alongside her beloved mentor, Nunui. The older she-wolf, laughing and smiling as the apprentice spoke 90 miles a minute about her first experience in Nasc’s kingdom. Yet as they continued on with sluggish paw steps, a growl was heard from the brush. “Nyx…” She said softly, “Get behind me…” She didn't want to though, knowing what came next Nyx wanted to save her yet as if by force, her legs moved and placed her behind the young wolf’s motherly figure. Her jaw was clamped shut despite her urge to scream and cry out, though the only noise made was a high pitched whimpering. Then Tsaghani made his appearance, tackling Nunui to the ground and killing her with one messy bite to the throat. As her blood seeped into the earth beneath her, this is where shit began hitting the fan. The whole forest began to lose color, draining into the earth as the sky cracked open and began to weep blood. Nyx was older now, yet her foe remained as young as ever. Turning his face to the sky and opening his maw, he let it fill his throat and coat his pelt, growing as he did this so he towered above the shaman. Fearful and tried to step back but found herself rooted in place as the gigantic Tikaani gave a crimson Cheshire smile before taking slow steps toward her, his paws shaking the ground beneath her. Nyx was at a loss for words, terrified at what was before her. Tsaghani batted her with a giant forced blow as if she were just a leaf that had fallen from a tree. After she had rolled painfully to a stop, trying to shove air back into her aging lungs, he pinned her to the ground before leaning in close, his breath was hot and held the scent of rotting meat. “You have no idea what's coming...do you..?” His voice was deep and rich though also raspy near the edges. Without giving Nyx time to answer he gave a howling chuckle “Me….” His word resembled the hiss of a snake before he used one of his front fangs to tear a large gash into her side. The shaman’s breathing hitched as she began to bleed out, the male wolf crying out in delight before bounding away through the trees…

To anyone else who had entered her den, she appeared to be dead. The old Tikaani wasn't breathing or moving in the slightest, and the stench of blood was thick in the air. This was probably due to the shallow gash on her left flank that blood was slowly trickling its way into her bedding and large gaps in her fur along her back and spine, revealing the scars where her feathers once were.

Ammax

(We still dont have names for the creatures)

Ammax padded through the grass, his muzzle still stained with some blood due to his recent succesfull catch: A small bird. As he walked by, he noted a few flowers on the tree tops. It was Spring, after all. He slowed down to a sneak, getting closer to his destnation. He had his head low, and was slightly croutching as he walked. He sniffed the air. Yep, definitely here. He thought. He then began crawling slowly, spotting the clearing.

Ammax quietly inched his way around the trees, trying to get a better look on her. The tree line before the clearing was thick, and it was hard to find a spot to go through, due to his size. He positioned himself behind a thick tree, next to a hole, and peeked aroud the corner, him camouflaging quite well with the dark trunk of the trees.

Lora sat there, doing whatever she was doing in a clearing. He crawled across the green grass, his dark fur clearly sticking out between the light grass. He knew he was clearly visible, so he was extra quiet. Ammax dodged a few sticks, trying to not make a noise, and was soon right behind her. He watched her curiously, waiting for her to finish whatever for him to scare her. He smirked, and prepared to pounce on her. Her red feathers moved slightly with the breeze, one of them touching his nose. He arched backwards, holding in a sneeze.

Don't. Don't. Don't. He chanted in his head, trying really hard, but to no avail

"Ah.. Ah... Ah choo!"

He sneezed. Loudly.

The early blinding rays were nothing more than solace on this very day. The fearless alpha, Brimir, lay comfortably next to his mate. He rested beside her, rather quietly, but as the sun began to shine through the cavern entrance, he was safe. The thoughts of danger had percolated within his own head, thoughts of a storm, a terrible black force making its way to the packgrounds. But it was not the fear of war that motivated him, it was the fear of fear. With a sudden gasp, Brimir awoke, his hazel eyes adjusting to the dawn light. It was time to put responsibility in the forefront. "My dear Nadie," he whispered into his mate's ear, "I did not sleep well again. I had the same dream as I did before."

Such a perverse thought was not one to admit to the other members. It was in his best interest to be the brave one. But, the dark creatures dancing within his mind, it wanted out. And, there was danger afoot. He could smell it, he could feel it, and he dreamt it. Such thoughts made a canine vulnerable.

Alas, his mate perhaps was resting. The demonic presence in his mind soon began to fade, and all he could do was hope that his love had heard him through her own thoughts. Still, he fought to retain the memory of the black creatures. everything was so hazy. What was it that the beings had said to him? It was not in the common tongue, or was it? It was so hard to remember. Memories of dreams become nothing as we move into reality.

But, there was something important of the day, something he ought to attend to. Yes! Was there not a hunt scheduled for late morning?

Nadie was rested silently, but wide awake for the noise of the restless night kept her from sleeping any longer. She could sense tension in Brimir and as he spoke realized her assumption to why was actually spot on. Opening her eyes, the dark wolf's gaze fell upon the entrance as her ears seemed to move non-stop, twitching. "Sleep has been hard for you of recent, but do not think that it is weakness," Nadie tried to comfort as she shifted her gold eyes toward Brimir. "It is a possibility that what you dream may be our future, dear Brimir. Perhaps it is time to stop hiding this dream behind your eyelids and bring it to at least the attention of Nyx," her tail flinched a little as if something had frightened her, but nothing seemed to be moving around. "No one would dare to judge an Alpha and if it is important it is best to find out," Nadie seemed on edge as well, but her reasons were unknown to her.

"Lately, nothing has felt right...Actually, sort of off and I think Nyx may know more than she is informing, but I could be wrong," Nadie was rarely wrong, but it happened and if she could find any means to convince her mate to stop suffering and find a solution than she would not mind being wrong. If anyone could help him it would be Nyx.

The male sighed deeply, adoring the sympathy his mate held fro him. Of course, how different she was when they first met. They were the leaders of a pack, and it truly shown to the members. Alas, these images were a terror to Brimir. War, death, disease, famine, lysis, or perhaps even betrayal could all happen. "It is not my image that I am concerned for," he began with a lush tone, "but rather the pack itself. I don't want to have this place become a terror-ridden free-for-all, Nadie." He moved himself closer, looking deeply into her eyes. Her crimson fur seemed to glow with the dawn, reminding him of the beautiful blood moons he had witnessed in his youth.

Blood Moon. The thought returned to him, as he suddenly remembered part of his dream. One of the creatures he had recognized. Tsaghani. Was that not someone Nyx had known? All too certainly, his expulsion came as a result of his misdeeds. Had his ceremony been true? His rune was a bloodied moon, the bloodthirst, the angry. His father had told him such stories. But he was dead, a ghost clouding the mind of the now alpha. Could it be, perhaps, that he had survived the exile?

"Today is the hunt," he said to Nadie, "and dearest Nadie it is yours. I specifically requested it for you. You're right, this is nothing more than...... than a recurring nightmare. We can talk to Nyx after we are properly groomed."

But he could not dare tell his mate of the true force behind it all. The fear was real, and although Tsaghani may be dead, he may not be at all.

The air smells sweet, and the sky is barely beginning to lighten. Another relaxing morning. Lora let out a sigh as she relaxed in the small clearing, exhaling through her white nose. Her fur and feathers rustled in the light breeze, moving gently as the wind blew from the east, allowing her to smell scents from land beyond the tribe's boundaries. Her bright white eyes overlooked the land, watching for anything threatening, but finding nothing. She had gotten little sleep the night before, thinking about her parents all night, so she had gone out to the clearing in the middle of the night and simply relaxed there.

With another sigh she stood, stretching her limbs with a groan and standing there looking out at the sun rise.
Well...another moment of sitting here wouldn't hurt. Lora thought to herself as she seated herself, rather than lying back down. With a twitch of her ear and a flick of her tail she sensed a presence behind her, but refused to let on that she could feel someone intruding her little sanctuary. She grinned lazily, letting her true feeling show momentarily as she flicked her tail again, allowing the wind to catch it just right and tickle the nose of the Tikaani behind her.

After hearing the sneeze she stood up and turned, the rising sun glinting off her fur, making the white stand out as she turned to face Ammax. "Nice try, Ammax. I could sense you before you even sneezed. You'll have to do better next time." Lora shook her head at him before passing him by, pushing through the underbrush that Ammax had tried to remain quiet in a moment ago. Her feathers brushed against his fur, her tail thwacking him in the side as she passed him by. The female chuckled as she continued walking, going along the border of the tribe's land.

"Wake up!" Ayola's father barked at her grumpily, not looking at the female wolf as she awoke from her slumber. She mumbled slightly, wondering why the prey she had dreamt about wasn't in front of her and under her claws, then realized that it was a dream and she was talking in her sleep again. With a gasp she rose quickly, jumping slightly in surprise at her state, and managing to smack her head on the ceiling of the little den her father and her lived in. Her father snarled at her, irritated with her ridiculous behavior, then spoke once more. "I'm going out. Don't get yourself into more trouble." He growled at her, causing the decorated female to pin her ears back and tuck her long, colorful tail between her legs. He was the only Tikaani who frightened her, and he did a great job at it. After he climbed out of their small den, she wiped her paw on one of the stones inside, removing the drool that had shocked her awake in the first place.

After she removed her saliva from her fur, she climbed out of the den after her father, but he was nowhere to be seen - probably going on his usual morning run. She raised her lip in disgust, baring her fangs in his general direction.
Get into trouble, hmm...? Ayola grinned as she thought about the things she could do while the others slept, since dawn wasn't when the others usually enjoyed arising. With a lighthearted giggle Ayola padded through the tribe's land, making sure to keep her footsteps quiet as she amounted to more mischief. The supplies she used to create paint were hidden beneath a dense bush nearby a large tree in the center of their pack's home, consisting of berries and other things to make paint with.

Once the young female arrived at the hidey-hole for her paints, she picked up a bowl with her muzzle, using her paw to place the berries into it. She carried it with her as she passed by the different dens, excited for some fun. Once she arrived at Coeur's den, which was nearby one of the pups' dens, specifically the den mother's. Ayola grinned, sneaking into the den mother's den first, and dipped a paw into the mashed berries in the bowl held in her mouth, then gently stroked the face of the sleeping pup, before bounding out of the den, hoping to avoid being caught. She quickly dove into Coeur's den, aiming to do the same to him, since everyone was presumed to be asleep. With no time for hesitation, Ayola dumped the rest of the mashed berry-paint onto sleeping Coeur's head.

??????????????????????????????????

Xenosa had just finish her early morning jog around the territory as she slowed down to a stop. And as usual, she had stopped near the center of their pack's land and stretched out her limbs. Though, today was different.

In the distance around, the Coeur's and den mother's den, a fluff of violet was quietly frolicking or tip toeing (Xenosa didn't see this detail as important) with something in it's mouth. She watched as the "thing" snuck into the den mother's den and shortly coming out, pleased with itself. Xenosa took a closer look and saw it was Ayola, the most classy wolf she has ever known.

As Ayola went into Coeur's den, Xenosa paid no mind to it as it didn't really have to do anything with her. She quietly walked over to the den mother's den to see what "piece of art" Ayola put on this time. Even if it wasn't funny when it happened to her, it was amusing to see it on someone else. Though, ever since that prank happened, Xenosa has been doing exactly what the human warriors did in the legend....kept one eye open. She remembered how that incident had seriously wrecked with her pride.

At that time, Xenosa had stayed in her den for a day or two to recover from the embarrassment. She also avoid any contact with anyone for a couple of days after coming of her den. You may call it overly dramatic and silly, but those were the dark ages for Zenosa.

Anyways, Xenosa peered into the den and saw that one of the pups' faces had been painted. Her huge shadow covered the soft lighting of the early morning wondering as her paw accidentally breaks a twig. Xenosa's ears perked up wondering if she had woken up the family inside.

Interaction;; Xenosa (@Hiruka )

Action;; Stalking

Sol just couldn't help himself. He had said, again and again, that he wouldn't. I mean, what would she think if she saw him? There was also really no end reward to outweigh the risk, but still he kept on. Sneaking was his specialty, so there was a very low chance he would be spotted, and even if he was, there was no way she would know that he had been following her all morning... He now sat in a tree, far above her, his body slumped around a medium branch lengthwise, his head hanging down to gaze at Xenosa.

*Flashback*

Sol removed all of his tassels and decorations, washed out some paint he had been too lazy to clean up, and prepared himself. This was going to be an important mission. Maybe even more important than his first hunt, than his coming of age, his first kill! Not really. But it sure was important. Day had not yet broke, but it would soon. So he hurried out of his den, in the roots of a huge tree, and began to run, to bounce, to dance through the woods. He was a whisper in the leaves, a simple sliver of wind that only stirred the lightest plants. He soon arrived at his target's usual location, ahead schedule. Perfect. Nerves began to course through him as he nestled himself underneath some bushes, silently cursing his antlers that became entangled in the undergrowth.

*passage of time*

There! There it was! The sound of footsteps, light and smooth, Xenosa the warrior on her morning jog. He halted his attempts to free his horns at once, fearing the shaking flora would attract her attention. A deep breath flowed past his black lips when she passed without incident, not having realized his breath had been held the whole time. It took a bit, too long to get his antlers--damn these sissy-horns--out of the bush. By now, Xenosa was out of view, and he was relying on smell alone to trail her. Which wasn't really that difficult seeing as he knew her smell quite well. He slinked along, and stayed in the woods to the side of her usual path. It was relatively uneventful.

*End flashback*

Sol hung directly above Xenosa, wondering how he should proceed. First thing first, getting down. Sol wasn't quiet sure how he had gotten up to his precarious position, only that it had been during a fit of panic when Xenosa was about to turn in his direction. He had been saved from detection, but at what cost? Now he either had to lose his dignity to ask for help, or risk breaking his neck. Now he was only (insert wolf equivalent of 11ish ft) up, but a bad fall from a height like this could snap his leg. He shifted, digging his claws into the branch and accidentally knocking off a chunk of bark, which promptly fell directly next to Xenosa. He froze in terror, realizing his cover had just been blown, but freezing isn't good for balance. Not longer making micro-adjustments so he could stay on the branch, he began to lean to one side, until he passed the point of no return.

So with a yelp, he fell through the air and landed heavily on his side, legs clipping Xenosa. Nothing seemed broken, but his voice had. He was now just staring at her, and barely was able to force something reassuring past his lips. "J-just climbing some trees..." and promptly shut his mouth. The words had been forced out with the last air he had in his lungs, and now he began wriggling a bit, trying to figure out how to get more in.

Ammax

Ammax would grumble as she spoke, smiling. As she walked by, her feathers brushed against his fur, and her tail whacked his face. He shook his head. Not sneezing again. He followed her swiftly, not caring if he made any noise or not. His paws pounded against the dirt, due to his size and weight. He trotted along side Lora silently for a few minutes. Breathing deeply, he looked at the treetops, the birds and squirrels dancing around.

The little animals would remind him: He's hungry, and there is going to be a hunt.

"You heard... There's going to be a hunt today. The Alpha should be there." He said, facing her. He sounded a tad annoyed by that.

The light breeze messed with the fur on his neck, making it look as if he just woke up.

He nugded her lightly, and began trotting faster, is tail brushing againt her side. He was now trotting infront of her, purposly lifting a few specs of dirt, hitting her neck or muzzle. He chuckled lightly. His tail was brushing her nose.

He then suddently stopped, causing them to collide. He would fall over, his abdomen facing upwards. He would laugh a bit, and roll onto his side.

Coeur the Hunter
smokehound_by_tatchit-d9ly8ap.png

Sunlight filtered through the tall forest canopy, illuminating the ground below. Coeur made his way across the forest floor, enjoying the mid day sunshine and the peacefulness of the quiet forest. A soft breeze blew towards him, filling his nose was various scents from deeper within the forest. Coeur stopped to soak in the smells, letting the aroma fill his lungs. His sensitive nose flared as it picked up a tantalizing aroma. He sniffed once, twice, three times more as he attempted to isolate the aroma. He picked out the delicious smell of a rabbit, a plump and juicy rabbit just ahead of him.

He licked his lips hungrily and lowered his small frame to the ground, carefully placing one foot in front of the other as he headed towards the source of the smell. He was down wind of his prey, assuming he made no loud noises it would be an easy meal. He crept on, silently approaching the unsuspecting rabbit until he was almost right on top of it, the delicious aroma filling his mind. Yet, he couldn't see his prey. The rabbit was well hidden within the dense underbrush, making it near impossible to spot.

That was for a normal wolf- and Coeur was no normal wolf. He closed his eyes, focusing his mind. When he opened them again he was seemingly in a different world, the shades of green and brown of the forest replaced with shades of blue. He had entered infrared. He glanced around, easily spotting the rabbit through the underbrush, its small glowing red body easy to make out among the blue background.

Coeur grinned and licked his lips in anticipation, lowering himself back on his hind legs as he prepared to leap. He shot forward, flying through the air towards the rapidly approaching red blur inside the brush.

Suddenly something warm and sticky splashed onto his face, some of the substance going down his opened mouth.

Coeur woke up, choking on the thick berry tasting substance that drained down his throat. He sat up couching, goblets of black goop flying from his mouth. What the heck was going on?

He looked up to see a form before him, blocking the sunlight filtering in through the entrance of his den. It took a short few seconds for his eyes to adjust, but once they did he easy identified the figure before him.

It was Ayola, with a now empty bowl of paint in her mouth, staring at him mischievously.

Coeur growled, bits of berry glob still flying form his mouth. If there was a nasty side of Coeur, it was when he was grumpy. And you know what makes him REALLY grumpy? Bering woken up.

He coughed once more and let out an angry snarl at Ayola.

"What the heck is wrong with you!? Couldn't you see I was sleeping?!?" He demanded, the fur on his back standing n end.

"And why did you pour your stupid paint into my mouth? Do you want me to choke?". He shook his head and grumbled darkly to himself.

Without waiting for a response form the female, he shoved past her,. "Why don't you grow up already?"

He shook his head once more and trotted off towards the forest on the other side of the clearing, his muscles rigid and posture tight.

Ayola's eyes widened when Coeur woke up choking, her usual mischievous air smothered for her concern for the other Tikaani's well-being. She backed up slightly, giving him room, her mouth shut tightly for fear of making him angrier. When he snapped at her, snarling viciously, she flinched involuntarily, cowering as he stood and grumbled further at her. He continued to cough and growl, but the last phrase he spoke to her was what hit her hard. "Why don't you grow up already?" When those words came from his mouth, she could barely move. That only lasted for a little while, though, because she couldn't linger in his den a moment longer.

She left his abode as soon as she could, tears beginning to form. His words echoed in her mind, forcing those tears to grow and eventually slide down her face, ruining the paint she normally wore. She ran past each Tikaani's home, trying not to wake anyone up with the quietness of her sobs. She continued to run, in the direction opposite to the way Coeur was headed, wanting to get away from him.
How could he say that? Everyone is always so serious and strict, no one thinks about having fun any more. I was only trying to play a prank...it's hard enough when my father tells me to stop being myself, but when someone else whom I lo-...care about, does the same? Ayola's tears continued streaming down her face as she ran, searching for the small clearing Lora had told her about.

Lora and her weren't in the same groups of the pack, but the older female had seen her sulking once, and told her about the clearing so that she could be alone and let out what she was feeling when she didn't want anyone to judge her. The purple/pink/blue/black colored female hurried to the secret place, seeing Lora not far, and crawled into the clearing before crumpling to the ground, crying into her paws.
I didn't mean to make him angry...I only wanted to share some fun. Ayola thought with a sniffle and rested her face on her paws, watching the sun rise before her.

When Ammax caught up, Lora let out a small chuckle, then looked at him as he spoke about the hunt they were to have today. The Female Alpha, Nadie, was going to be accompanying them this time, and they would be gathering the food needed for the tribe for that day, or at least the morning. Sometimes smaller hunts were allowed to go, as long as they're permitted by one of the Alphas, which usually happened in the afternoon. Lora nodded at Ammax, then spoke softly. "Yes, I was told. Does that bother you?" She asked, cocking her head to the side in wonder. She caught a glimpse of Ayola out of the corner of her eye but said nothing of it, as she suddenly fell over Ammax because of her slight distraction.

She yelped as she fell, having collided into the larger Tikaani, and landed beside him, the breath knocked out of her. She coughed a bit, then gave him an incredulous look. "What was that for?!" She asked, her breath raspy from losing it so suddenly. Then she noticed their close proximity and yelped again, standing up immediately. She shook herself, getting the dirt off of her sleek red and white pelt, then nipped his good ear gently with her teeth. "Next time, be far more careful - no hunter should be that clumsy." She spoke chidingly, before continuing on her rounds, making sure nothing threatening was approaching the tribe.

Ammax

Ammax would chuckle at her embarrasment, and smile while she scolded him.

He stood up, not brushing off the dirt from his pelt. He caught up to her, still smiling.

"You better keep your guard up at all times,
Leader."

He mocked, and smiled again.

"And to answer your question: Yes. It does bother me when they come on hunts, because then we must be serious at all times, yada yada yada." He said, glaring ahead. You could tell he was very annoyed by that.

"You know im not the
serious type, I much rather fool arond with children, than remain serious with adults."

He would look at her after a while, his head tilting slightly to the side.

"What were you doing in that clearing, Lora?"

Wonder was hanging in his tone. It was a very beautiful clearing, he might visit there more often. Not because it was pretty, because he saw a few Deer tracks on the floor, and he wanted to follow them. He glanced up at her, watching her feathers move with the light breeze.

Coeur the Hunter
smokehound_by_tatchit-d9ly8ap.png

Still grumbling darkly to himself, Coeur made his way across the clearing where the pack slept and into the forest surrounding it. Each step he took through the forest filled him with energy, rubbing away at the grogginess that clouded his mind. As his sleepiness faded his thoughts became clear, allowing his emotions to decrease in intensity to manageable levels. He was pissed, both at Ayola and himself. Why had she woken him up? She knew he was grumpy in the morning, ESPECIALLY if someone woke him up. What had she expected him to do, laugh as he choked on paint that she had put her dirty paws in?

He sighed and stopped, lying down on the forest floor, resting his head on his front paws. Why had he gotten so upset? It wasn't like it was a big deal or anything... just a prank between friends. He and Ayola were friends, always doing little pranks like that either together or on one another, this had been nothing compared to their usual schemes...

He closed his eyes, cringing as he thought about the words he had said. "Why don't you grow up?"... He had been so mean...

He whimpered softly, cursing his grumpiness. He could have sworn he heard her whimpering, ready to cry as he had left his den... The more he thought about it the more convinced he was that he had made her cry. Guilt welled up inside of him. He would make it up to her... he HAD to...

He sat there, lying on the forest floor in self pity. Just before him was a small puddle, the sunlight filtering through the forest canopy was just enough to allow Coeur to see his reflection in the puddle. He red eyes stared back at him from inside his black fur matted with purple paint. An idea popped into his mind and he stood up, determination replacing his self pity. He knew what to do, how to make up for his behavior.

He started off with renewed energy, heading with purpose towards a small creek that ran through the forest. He could hear the bubble of the water as it ran down the slight incline of the forest floor and charged forward at full speed. Soon the small creek came into view, steaks of morning sunlight glittering off the shallow water and wet stones. He skirted to a halt, sliding through the creek and crashing into a berry bush on the other side. Several of the berries fell off of their limbs, landing with a soft splash in the stream. Coeur carefully sued his long pink lounge to scoop up the berries and store them in his cheeks. He turned to the berry bush, using his tail to shack the bush and doing the same with any berries that fell off until his mouth was filled with berries.

He then continued on his sprint, heading back to the pack's sleeping area. He broke through the eastern edge of the forest and sprinted through the clearing, past the dens of sleeping wolves without bothering to slow down. He ran into the western edge of the forest, jumping over logs and dodging rocks as he headed towards a small clearing deeper within the forest where he knew Ayola would be. Whenever she got upset she always went to the same place, a small clearing protected by thorns and bushes an elder had shown her.

She had shown Coeur the place a while back when she ad been talking about her painting,

He pushed through brambles and briers, ignoring the pricks of pain their thorns inflicted upon him. He charge through the last of the thicket to find himself standing in the small clearing. In the center of the clearing laid Ayola, her feathered purple flank convulsing with her sobs. His heart dropped to see her so upset, only filling him with more determination to set things write.

He opened his mouth, spitting out the berries he had collected.

"Ayola..."

Emetaly
melody_by_tatchit-d7qd1n0.png

Emetaly rolled over to her left side with a groan. She had only been asleep for a few hours, as she had been up all night watching the moon, the only light she could look at without needing her googles. She opened her eyes and flipped her googles down over her eyes before looking over the wolf standing in front of the den. "Good morning Xenosa, do you need something dear?" she asked in a light voice, getting up to stretch out her front legs. As she looked out the cave mouth she noticed that the sun was higher than it should be if she was just now waking up.
Damnit. She skidded across the den to where her two pups were asleep and pawed them until they woke up. Emonah, her youngest flipped over and her face was revealed to be heavily painted with a variety of colors. "Emonah, what happened to your face? Were you up playing in the paints last night?" Emetaly inquired angrily. She scooped her up by the tufts of fur on her neck and carried the sleepy pup over to the small water hole in the corner of the cave. She woke the pup up a bit by splashing water on it's face and insisted that she wash her face as she ran to wake up Lanius.

Emetaly hated waking up as late as she had today, as she was usually an early bird. She hoped that the pups of the den hadn't woken up yet, and that they hadn't been waiting on her all morning. Once Emonah was cleaned up and Lanius was ready, the young mother whisked them out of the cave and into the open territory. Emonah stayed closer to Emetaly whilst Lanius skipped ahead a bit, making Emetaly wonder where her mate was at this hour, and why hadn't he woken her?

Taronja saw that her stand-in mother had finally woken up. The pup hadn't known her actual parents due to them dying when she was till too young to remember, yet the young Tikanni loved Emetaly just as much, and that was good enough for her. The tassels on her headdress swung back and forth as the small she-wolf bounded over full of energy, nuzzling her with a large wag of her multicolored tail. "Good morning, mama!" She sang out happily before sitting quite clumsily on the dirt beneath her. "Did you sleep well?"

Leonhart sat there, concentrating on the creature before him. He was low to the ground, his belly barely touching the ground, and his tail twitching. He eyed it with such intensity, that if the creature knew it wouldve died right there on the spot. But not yet, its time hastn come just yet; he slowly inched closer, trying to get a better view. 'Just a little closer,' he thought to himself. There was a light breeze in the air, the tall grass around him moved in waves, almost as if he was in the lake near the den. It was morning, a little later than normal, but it was the perfect sunlight angle for Leon. He didnt want to wake his mate, she was always busy so he decided to just let her sleep in, he was certain the pups wouldve gotten up before her and wake her up anyways.

He finally decided he was close enough; he sat there. Eyeing his target, the very thing he spent most of his morning trying to get near, but everytime he did it would get away. But not this time, this time he had it and...the grass was tickling his nose. This was bad, he cant blow his cover, he tried his best to keep it in but he just couldnt and.... "Achoo!" The butterfly felt his presence and took off in a quick hurry in fear of the large wolfs sneeze.

"Ah damnit."

We always play pranks on people...so why did he react so badly? Ayola thought to herself as she hugged the forest floor, upset with herself. She expected at least a little laugh or something similar, but all he did was yell at her. She sniffled once more, using her paw to wipe away a tear before it fell from one of her golden eyes. After she did that she heard a rustle, and her ear flicked in the direction of the sound. The bushes behind her moved, but Ayola made no effort to move or run, since she could smell the scent of berries coming off the intruder. Under that scent was one she had become familiar with as of late, so she recognized it almost immediately - Coeur.

She heard him say her name softly after dropping something onto the ground, but she refused to look at him at first. She didn't want him to see her cry, and definitely didn't want him to think she was weak, just like her father did. After lying there for a couple more seconds to make him wait, the decorated female, with ruined paint now staining her face, stood to leave, not wanting to talk to him, but she stopped in her tracks when she saw what he brought her. "You brought me berries...?" Ayola murmured the question softly, not even sure he'd hear her. They were dark blue berries, the color that she enjoyed making paint with the most, and he has grabbed several of them. She looked from the berries and back up at him, her eyes questioning.

"Why did you bring me berries?" She asked, trying not to look hurt from before. She used one of her paws to wipe at the paint that had streaked down her face, aiming to take it off, but managing to smear it instead. With an exasperated noise she put her paw down and looked back up into Coeur's red eyes before glancing away, not wanting to question dominance or seem disrespectful. "I'm sorry for splashing paint on you this morning. I just figured it would be a funny thing to wake up to, and... I'm sorry." Ayola kept her gaze pointed downwards, holding back the tears that threatened to surface.

As the male lay there, seemingly for moments at a time, he suddenly decided he had a desire to move on, with or without his mate. Of course, he should clean himself, but the matters at hand were truly pressing. Rising to his decorated paws, the male stretched out, his bones satisfyingly popping with reprieve. Of course, he ought to wait for dear Nadie, but not today. He would do anything to sleep again, and he needed to. He was the alpha male after all. "Meet me by the creek in a half-hour," he said rather suddenly, "I am going now to talk to Nyx, alone preferably. I know it is quite early, but judging by the bufoonry of the others, she's not asleep either." With the parting words, Brimir made his way over to Nadie, and lay his head down on her red fur softly. "I love you dearly," he said with affection, and departed.

Nyx's cave was not far away, naturally, as old mages such as her were in need to be close to the alpha. As the alpha trodded away, being strongly greeted by those he passed, the dream's images persisted in their direness, on the contrary of what most dreams do. This seemed to be more than just a dream, it was a prediction. And the only person who could ever understand the images would the old, wise, and experienced Shaman Nyx. But, to his dismay, the old female was dead asleep, barely looking like anything more than a matted rag upon the cavern floor. She certainly needed a bath, if anyone. As he was alpha, however, he technically could tell her what to do.

But, he simply sat by her, standing in the entrance of the den as he sat tall. Minutes passed, before he spoke a polite word. "Nyx," he began, "it is time to awaken. I have a dire situation to inform you of."

Meynx froze silver blue eyes watching the small red bird closely, one paw dipped in the stream, the woods silent as the sunlight filtered through the trees. The little bird fluffed its feathers and puffed out its little chest as he looked Meynx dead in the eye. Tail fanning behind her Meynx slowly tilted her head as the bird let out a small chirp. Opening her mouth in a grin of amusement the female watched as the red bird started looking around for twigs and grass, probably to add to his nest. “You twitterpated as well, little bird?” Meynx said quietly, watching as the bird, startled by the noise, spread his wings and flew to a nearby tree where he was joined by a smaller bird identical in color. “I guess that was a yes.” Lowering her head Meynx took a drink of the refreshingly cool stream she was standing in, licking her lips when done. Letting out a long sigh the female Tikaani closed her eyes and appreciated the beauty of the world around her.

She had left early in the morning traveling to the reaches of the pack borders after deciding that the warriors she was in charge of needed a few hours off. It was a rare decision for the strict female and one she had made reluctantly...it was something about the time of year that distracted the pack, made them more absent minded, made them more affectionate, especially when it came to one’s crush. Made it so that even the best wolves were unable to do the most simple training tactics efficiently, unable even complete them. Perhaps Meynx had needed time to herself as well...She had started to feel more distracted and that had never before been a problem for her. Either way it was time to head back to camp.

*Time Passage*

Passing through the low undergrowth Meynx entered camp eyes fixed on her alpha’s den...she needed to be aware of where her alpha’s wanted her and her warriors positioned during the upcoming hunt. Laying down nearby the female lowered her head to her paws, unwilling to interrupt or barge into the den of her leaders, content to wait until one of them emerged from the cave.

It was only a little while later when the large form of Brimir exited his den, his eyes focused on something Meynx could not see... It was obvious that he was doing something that should not be interrupted so Meynx kept quiet, waiting for Nadie to exit as well.

Imari was asleep, in his den. What else could he have done? He shifted in his slumber, an air of emptiness taking hold as he slept. There was nothing here. No dreams. No nightmares. And that was the most terrifying part of his long rest. He was alone, so alone!

These thoughts rang through the empty abyss of the dream, the only thing telling him whether or not he was suffocating in the darkness or dreaming he was. He began running, endlessly, throwing himself at the eternal shadows with frustration and desperation. He'd wish for it to end, slowing down until he tripped.

And then, he began to fall. There was nothing he could do. The darkness swallowed his body, his soul, his heart. He felt his consciousness slip, deteriorate.

A sudden convulsion in the darkness. There was a light, a spark. It burned, it sputtered, it died... But came back. There was now two of the flames, swinging and swaying in rhythm. A voice cooed in his ear, sending a chill down his spine. "Take back your honor, Omega." The words imprinted themselves upon his thoughts, but he never knew what they meant. The voice always seemed so familiar as well, but he was unable to ever put a paw on it.

Imari already had honor. His dignity in taking the role of Omega was what kept him going, but the voice always tried contradicting this. Its soft, silky words caressed his ears and forced him to let his guard down. It always managed to get him to trust it, before it shoved an offer in his ear. "How about you leave?" The feminine voice would continually say, in an even more convincing way each time she said it. The Omega, however, would always refuse.

This would be the one time in the dream where he would speak for himself. "No, I would never! Leave me alone!" His voice would shout in rebellion, somehow morphing into what he sounded like as a pup. And in response the voice would always, without fail, laugh. "Poor, poor pup. Soon, you will realize your place. Soon..." This word would echo, until finally he woke up with a start. This dream was a rarity, and it had been a while since he'd had it.

But whenever he had it, something bad was afoot. He raised his head in alarm from its drowsy stupor, seeing the sun high in the sky. The entrance to his den was open to the world, but it did have a few branches dangling down in front of the entrance. His den was made in a bush, after all. Imari poked his head out of his den, eyes searching the area for movement before he finally strode out of the entrance. The main encampment was further from his den than the others, but he paid no heed to it.

He walked towards it, ignoring the dream previous and putting on his normal air of bliss. As he hopped towards the camp, bushy tail swishing behind him, his mind kept casually trying to dump the dream into his subconscious. Eventually, it worked and he made it to the camp. There, he immediately looked for the Den Mother.
Probably in her den, if I'm using my head... Imari thought, swiftly slinking towards the den he was so familiar with. Slowly coming inside, he made sure to keep his head low. "Emetaly?" He whispered, ears perking up without his permission.

He finally spotted her outside of her den, just leaving with the pups to who-knew-where. He trotted towards her, pleasantly. As he neared, he moved to walk beside her. "Hello, Emetaly! I would have expected you to be up earlier than this. Did you sleep in again on accident?" He teased, eyes full of life. Another little pup had asked a much different question, bounding about clumsily. He looked at her warmly. He did not look Emetaly directly in the eyes because of his current position as Omega, but he still conveyed his feelings through them.

Nyx didn't respond. The small pool of blood that had escaped from the wound received in what was much to realistic to be a dream still growing. Her flank wasn't moved to show signs of breathing, and in all, looked like death itself. Though despite still being unconscious, she was still in what she now confirmed to be a vision, yet the shaman couldn't pull herself out of it. Still in the colorless forest with the slight tremors caused by giant pawsteps still shaking the ground. The elder Tikaani couldn't stop the bleeding, yet the blood loss wasn't causing any of the normal effects. Though that didn't mean it didn't hurt, though by this point she was numb from her whiskers to tail tip. The sickly metallic scent an taste along with scent, both in reality as well as in this odd limbo, clogging the throats and noses of anyone who was near. Nyx's ears were flat against her skull as she silently prayed for Nasci to preserve her.

The shaking shaman only made the alpha fearful of what she was dreaming. Her convulsions, they were so eerie. Only one thing, however, could ever have such a fearsome hold on her mind, even worse than the alpha himself. When she was younger, a trainee, as his father had told him, her teacher had been murdered. Tsaghani had done so much to her, and yet she remained to carry the burdens. How does one live to see those images over and over? She could not do this anymore. Brimir, making his way over rather briskly, put his nostril on her forehead, and tapped lightly. "Nyx, snap out of it, please," he pleaded, needed desperately to talk with her.

Brimir himself began to fear immeasurable fear. One person having a nightmare was common, but two people having one was unlucky. If she was in fact reliving the nightmare, the same images of the same fabled male that the alpha himself had dreamt, than this was no dream. The Gods were perhaps looking down upon the tribe now with dismay. The alpha, prodded again, hoping to awaken the old woman from her subconscious prison.

Nyx awoke with a start, gasping for breath and cowering from Brimir who was in front of her due to not having recognized him yet. Shaking her head for a moment, she tried to collect herself, her breath labored. The old shaman then slowly rose, trying twice before getting her balance upon shaky paws. "Bones...where are my bones...I need to roll them..." she kept muttering, not bothering if the male Alpha was paying any attention at all. Finding them near the shallow pit, Nyx gathered them into her paws before giving them a shake and tossing them in. Muttering something in an unknown dialect, she tossed in a pawful of sand along with a few leaves, drops of water, and after considering it for a moment, she used one of her fangs to tear a small gash into her forearm and added a drop of her blood. This wasn't the best idea considering she could still feel the thick substance coating her pelt along with the taste in her mouth and scent in her throat.

Nyx's back was to Brimir, and it could clearly be seen the gaps in her fur where the scars were clearly seen upon pale flesh. Though what she was doing was much more important in her eyes. As the old Tikaani watched the mixture, it began to sizzle and smoke the previously pristine bones turning to a deep ebony in color. "No...not yet....it wasn't suppose to fall upon us for another few years..." She kept on talking to herself, still ignoring the other person in the den.
