In the bustling city of Los Angeles, where the sounds of sirens and the sight of blazing fires are a regular occurrence, two individuals find themselves drawn together by fate. Muse A is a dedicated and hardworking college student, working towards her doctorate, and known for her unwavering focus on academics. With her structured life and ambitious goals, she appears to be the epitome of a "good girl". As part of her degree, she works part-time at LA General Hospital as a compassionate nurse. However, deep down, Muse A yearns for a taste of rebellion and a break from her predictable “perfect student/nurse”-routine. She recently got engaged to her partner, Muse C, who is a cop on the rise. He supports Muse A's college endeavours, though makes sure to keep her on a tight leash in order not to have anyone ruin his image and reputation. To Muse C, it is important that Muse A keeps her focus on her studies to become a doctor.

What's in the past?

Connor's journey began in Anchorage, Alaska, where he was welcomed into the O'Neil family as their eldest son. In his formative years, he possessed an eagerness to conquer the world, brimming with youthful enthusiasm waiting to be unleashed. However, his life took a dramatic turn with the arrival of his younger brother, Jake, whose constant illness cast a shadow over their entire childhood. As a result, Connor's parents found themselves devoting most of their attention and care to the fragile youngest member of the family, leaving little room for him.

The strain on his parents' relationship became increasingly evident as time passed, their love gradually dissipating into an abyss of daily arguments and disputes. Yet, for the sake of their children, they chose to remain together, albeit mistakenly. The turbulent atmosphere at home reached a breaking point, pushing a fifteen-year-old Connor to contemplate escaping his tumultuous reality. In a bold act of defiance, he made a fleeting attempt to flee, but the limitations of being a minor alone soon brought him back to the place he yearned to escape. Undeterred, Connor became resolute in his determination to leave Anchorage behind as soon as an opportunity presented itself.

Finally, at the age of eighteen, an auspicious chance emerged—joining the Army. Seizing this lifeline, Connor embarked on a transformative path, dedicating four years of his life to serving as an active-duty soldier deployed overseas. Upon completing his service, he transitioned to the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR), where he committed to fulfilling the remaining four years of his military obligation. Concurrently, driven by an unwavering spirit of valor and selflessness, he embraced a new calling as a firefighter within the Los Angeles Fire Department.

psyche

If you were to search up "bedside manner," a perfect example would include an image of Kara. She's an incredibly sweet, polite, and respectful person, an ideal fit for the nursing life. She always offers to lend a hand, even when she's running on fumes, and is fiercely loyal to her friends and patients. When she loses a patient, she takes it the hardest, often spending several hours sullen and silent with grief. Still, she powers through, doing what is necessary for the well-being of those around her, though oftentimes neglecting herself. Her anxiety will occasionally get the better of her, especially in high-strung situations, and will cause her to withdraw completely on an emotional level, allowing her to still function while she internalizes her anxiety attacks.

likes

Rainy days, apples, helping people, singing/dancing, coffee.

dislikes

Her parents, bananas, insects, swimming, the emergency room.

fears

Drowning — she is terribly afraid of being in large bodies of water and doesn't know how to swim.

history

Kara was born in Los Angeles, and in a city that never sleeps, was immediately thrust into the high-strung environment of clinking champagne glasses, underhanded insults disguised as compliments, and business transactions. Her mother, a wealthy lawyer with a massive inheritance, hosted many parties during Kara's childhood, oftentimes bragging about her daughter's looks and potential, while Kara's father, a skilled surgeon, focused on his hospital workings and regularly spent his fortune on alcohol. Much of her younger years are a blur to Kara, but she remembers being dressed up in uncomfortable outfits, her father yelling, and her mother locking the young girl in her room many a time. As Kara grew to better understand the strain between her parents and carry the heavy burden of their high expectations, she struggled greatly with the lack of control she had over her own life.

In adolescence, she attended the best of schools to get her education, pursuing the dream of becoming a doctor - it wasn't her dream, but she was told to live it, so she had no other choice but to oblige. Middle and high school were the lonelier portions of her life, as she focused solely on her academics and struggled to make friends with the schedules her parents gave her. If she so much as missed a track meeting, her parents would scold her, lock her in her room, and isolate her in any way they could, restricting her meals and outside exposure. Being sick was simply not an option throughout her academic career, and her immune system became weakened as a result of untreated illnesses during these formative years. Still, she persevered, and got into medical school as instructed.

Despite the resentment she's held towards her parents all her life, Kara didn't hate them, and did her best to meet their standards. She continued to pursue the life of a doctor, but took quite an interest in becoming a nurse instead, recognizing how much hospitals needed them just to be able to function, and how much they actually worked with the patients compared to the doctors or surgeons themselves - and so she quickly changed career paths without her parents' knowledge. It was around this time that she moved in with her boyfriend, Dylan Thompson, going from one toxic household to another. Dylan was similar to her father, which may have explained her ignorance of his toxicity, but showed her affection and care that her parents hadn't, and that enough helped her get through the rest of her education and handle the backlash of choosing a different career. Now engaged, she still focuses on her work, hoping to prove to her mother and father that she is worthy of their love, while also trying to get a handle on her life.
