Fandom Hakiyuu: The next generation

Rhino Schneider

I'll make you an offer you can refuse.
Setter:

Setters orchestrate the offense. They are the playmakers of the volleyball team and are analogous to point guards and quarterbacks. Their responsibilities are to run the team's offense and build up offensive scoring opportunities for the team. They aim for second touch and their main responsibility is to place the ball in the air for the attackers to send into the opponents' court for a point.

They play both front row and back row; therefore they need to be able to block, serve, and play defense. They have to be able to operate with the spikers, manage the tempo of their team's side of the court, and choose the right attackers to set to. Setters need to have swift and skillful evaluation and tactical accuracy and must be quick enough to move around the court.

Taken by: @Phineas Forge

(a sub unnecessary but wanted)

Middle Blockers:

On defense, middle blockers are near the net in the middle of the court, between the two outside blockers. They are primarily responsible for blocks, meaning they must attempt to stop equally fast plays from their opponents and be able to quickly set up a double block at the sides of the court.

On offense, middle blockers are players who can perform very fast attacks that usually take place near the setter. They will usually hit quick sets or serve as decoys to confuse the opponents' blockers if their passes are good enough.

In non-beginners play, every team will have two middle hitters

Taken by: (Two needed one must be willing to switch out often for the Liberos)

One taken by: @NickTonCutter

Liberos:

Liberos are exclusively defensive positions. They are responsible for receiving the attack or serve and are usually the players on the court with the quickest reaction time and best passing skills. Libero means 'free' in Italian because liberos have the ability to substitute for any other player on the court during each play. However, they can't be switched in/out with the player about to serve or be switched in/out during a rally.

They have to wear a contrasting color compared with the rest of the team since the switch they make can be considered penalties for other positions. For a libero, height does not matter since they aren't allowed to block, spike, or play at the net. This allows shorter players with strong passing and defensive skills to excel in the position and play an important role in the team's success. Due to the rules, they can't become captain either. A libero can pass a ball to a spiker, but he or she must follow specific rules; otherwise it is a penalty.

Taken by: Yours truly (@NekoChanBo)

Wing Spikers:

Wing Spikers are the players who carry the serve receive responsibility along with the libero. They are usually the ones who attack the balls, which the setter sets to the antenna at either the left or right side of the court, and usually scores the most points in the game. Spikers play both the front row and the back row.

Wing spikers are generally divided into two types:

  • Left Wing Spikers, also known as Left-side Hitters or Outside Hitters, attack from near the left antenna. The outside hitter is usually the most consistent hitter on the team and gets the most sets. Inaccurate first passes usually result in a set to the outside hitter rather than middle or opposite. Since most sets to the outside are high, the outside hitter may take a longer approach, always starting from outside the court sideline. In non-beginners play, there are again two outside hitters on every team in every match.

  • Right Wing Spikers, also known as Right-side Hitters or Opposite Hitters, carry the defensive workload for a volleyball team in the front row. Their primary responsibilities are to put up a well-formed block against the opponents' outside hitters and serve as a backup setter. Sets to the opposite usually go to the right side of the antennae

Left wing spikers: Taken by (one still needed)

One taken by @Zy That Guy

Ring Wing spiker: taken by @Cenco

Ace:

The Ace is responsible for spiking past the blockers with brute force. The qualities of aces are high mental strength and the ability to act accordingly when cornered. The ace is also responsible for getting last point scores during long rallies where the ball doesn't hit the ground for an extended period of time.

Although an ace needs a huge amount of fighting power, being an ace doesn't really require great strength. Some aces have control rather than power and are capable of aiming in the weak spot of a blocker or making a feint spike to throw the blockers off to score.

This role is usually taken by a wing spiker (normally a Left wing spiker) please state if you want this along with one of the wing spiker roles keep in mind this does not need to be a wing spiker but is recommended to be.

Decoy:

The decoys are responsible for tricking the defenders. They fake a spike to throw the opponents off and stall them so another teammate can take a point for the team. Some decoys have a huge amount of fighting strength or pure talent to gain the opponents attention; this makes opponents keep an eye on the decoy instead of the true spiker, tricking them in the process.

If by any chance the decoy becomes ineffective, no spiker is free and will mostly get blocked due to the blockers being able to anticipate the spiker.

This role is usually taken by a middle blocker but a right wing spiker could also fulfill it depending if the team wishes to give up some of its defense. Please state if you want this role along with either a middle blocker or a right winger or another position (but the others will need to give me an explanation of why it will work's along with their responsibility already.)

Pitch server:

The Pinch Servers are switched into the game to get an advantage over the opponents or at crucial times, usually near match point. They have to perform risky serves to gain points for the team. The serves usually have to be extremely powerful or unique, such as the "Jump Float Serve".

Serve Controllers are pinch servers who have impressive control over their serves, adding rotation to the ball so that the receivers won't be able to receive the ball properly. When the spinning ball hits the receivers arms, it bounces off the court and leads to a service ace.

Power Servers are another type of pinch servers whom are capable of getting a service ace. Rather than relying on control, these servers rely on pure strength. They are capable of making serves resemble spikes. The ball will be so powerful that the receiver will have a hard time trying to receive it. If the receiver does receive the ball, the ball will either come back to the serving team as a chance ball or it will bounce off the court.

This role works well with any position that is allowed to serve however, I believe this would work better for a sub that takeover when the situation is dire or when the team just needs that one point.

Coaches:

Coaches are the people in charge of the team. They make all the big decisions for the team, like submitting line ups, calling time-outs, communicating with referees, etc. They are in charge of the training and building strategies for the team.

Managers:

Managers are responsible for the well-being of the team. They refill the players' water bottles, help with injuries, sometimes provide food, cheer on the players, etc. They also go with the team to official matches, but only one manager is allowed to be on the bench with the players.

Taken by: @NekoChanBo

Advisers:

Advisers are responsible for the team overall. They do not coach or take care of the players' necessities, though some advisers help arrange practice matches or buy new uniforms for the teams. Advisers' jobs are to look after the team and make sure the team is active, communicate with the school and the players' teachers, etc.

A nice simple character sheet, if you want you can use your fancy BB-code wizardry but alas I suck at it.

This will be his 4th year playing the sport.

Height: 191 cm (6'4 if you don't use the metric system)

Other: Shuzaki doesn't have any particular amazing techniques or is he good at receiving. All he has is his raw ability, height, reflexes and a crazy jump. Shuzaki is a lefty but he usually hits with his right which cuts his power.

Before games Shuzaki puts on his headphones and blocks everyone out he doesn't like people distracting his focus. Even in warm-ups he wears his headphones and listens to music unless he's fully focused. Shuzaki has the look of an ace he always seems ready for anything and is up to any challenge. No matter how low energy he acts he's actually really excited about even the simplest things.

Like K?tar? Bokuto he wears compression tights eith knee pads on them. The reason he does this is because he doesn't like the feel of knee pads directly on his knees.

Special Position:

Personality:

When outside of a game Hibiki is normally very flirty he is rather well known with the female population and seems to get along with women more than men thanks to his personality he just finds it hard to get along with most males since half are annoyed at his popularity and the other half just hate how he speaks. When in game Hibiki is normally calm and collective he never gets stressed or bothered by losing or winning many say that his personality is well set for a setter but he never has been interested in the Position.

Nishi seems to have two personalities one for people she's not used to and one for people she knows. To people she doesn't know she is extremely quiet with a voice that can be bearly heard. When with people she knows well or around her brother she gets a lot louder and very quirky often jumping around and cannot hide her emotions in the least.

How long have you been playing Volleyball?:

He has been playing since the start of middle school so just shy of 5 years.

While not playing currently Nishi played for three years prior.

Hibiki was classed as the star of the old volleyball team that was disbanded a year ago after a crushing defeat, the team was compiled of mostly newbies with the exception of a left wing spiker and the right wing spiker and Hibiki himself who has one of the largest save rates out of most Libero's.

Personality: Sou lacks self esteem and often doubts himself which is why he ended up playing as a setter. Afraid to fail, Sou would often set the ball to his teammates worried that his own spikes were weak or off the mark. While Sou has trouble believing in himself, he is overly confident in the other members of his team. Even when their belief in themselves are wavering, Sou will always be completely confident in his teammates. His confidence in them also makes him completely loyal to his teammates, on and off the court. Other: When it comes to volleyball, Sou's sense of touch is near perfect. This allows him to be a competent setter as well as a capable receiver. While he lacks physical strength, Sou performs an overhead standing serve which utilizes his sense of touch to target difficult spots near the opponent's setter in an attempt to throw them into disarray. Lacks the confidence to do a dump shot.

Name: Yuuma Saito

Age: 16

School year: 2

Position: Right Wing Spiker

Special Position: Decoy

Personality:

Yuuma nearly always seems focused on something (because he usually is) when he isn't speaking with any one, leading to him giving off a bit of an intense and unapproachable aura. In reality, he's actually very sociable and laid-back -- a genuine and fun person to be around, once you get past the scary look. Despite enjoying being around people, he has a bit of a surprising awkward side.

His natural intensity comes to the forefront when he's dealing with competition. The boy has an almost unhealthy obsession with improving and becoming as good as he possibly can at anything that interests him -- and the sole target of that obsession right now is volleyball. He's the kid that'll show up hours early, and leave hours late. The kid who'll push himself so hard he throws up, and then immediately pick himself up to keep going. As such, he tends to often be a leader-by-example to his teammates, and though he never expects anybody to go as far as he does, he's often encouraging and glad to give others a bit of a push to get them to go just a bit past their limits. Many people think he's just crazy, which is fair, in his opinion. He recognizes he's a little off, but he embraces it, enjoying the praise and attention that comes from his hard work and natural athleticism.

During a game, Yuuma appears to be -- emotionally -- a brick wall. Almost nothing will faze him, and he never reacts to any opponent's praising or taunting, instead throwing out his own little, subtle taunts like a condescending smirk here and there. After a game, however, emotions often get the better of him, and will come out in one way or another. While confident, he is still quick to blame himself for things that go wrong and picks out his own mistakes. There's a few reasons for this, the biggest ones being that he doesn't want his teammates feeling bad about their own performances and the fact that failure always motivates him far more than success.

The role of a decoy suits him very well. While unassuming at first glance, not being incredibly tall, or incredibly muscled, his intensity soon grabs the attention of opponents, especially when they realize he has a competent spike and is a real threat.

How long have you been playing Volleyball?:

This is his first year.

Appearance:

tjCb0Aq.png

Height: 180cm (5'11")

Other:

Yuuma had always been interested in volleyball, but his father all but forced him into playing basketball his entire life. While an excellent player, his enjoyment of the game was diminishing yearly, until he was finally motivated enough to tell his father off and instead join the volleyball team that a bunch of first years were starting up.

The general reaction of those finding out this is Yuuma's first time playing volleyball on a team is shock and disbelief -- the boy is a natural athlete, with great reflexes, hand-eye coordination, awareness, and a monstrous drive to win and be better than those around him. While many will attribute his skill to simple natural talent, generally only his teammates have an idea of how much time and effort he's already put into the game -- for the past few years, as his interest in volleyball grew but he was kept stuck playing basketball, he's spent much of his free time hitting a volleyball around or with friends, working on any skill he could.

He is a solid all-around player, capable of receiving and setting well. He has good game sense to know where he needs to be before he needs to be there, and the quick movement necessary to get there. This helps mitigate the team's defensive loss from having their Wing Spiker as a decoy, as he can usually re-position himself fast enough to at least be somewhat ready for a counter-attack. His excellent reflexes and finesse can often get him out of bad situations in unconventional ways -- if he thinks of something different that he believes might work, he has no fear of trying it. Finally, he has a strong spike, able to turn from a decoy to a threat at a moment's notice.

Before games, he gets terribly nervous -- so much so that him throwing up before one isn't uncommon. He does his best to hide how he feels, not wanting to appear weak to his teammates. As such, he tends to keep to himself and listen to music for the hour leading up to a game -- it gives him an excuse to not interact with anyone so that they won't notice his nervousness, and it helps him focus. When a game gets underway, though, he quickly becomes comfortable, his thoughts emptying of everything but what he needs to do to win the match.

Nice character, there is just one thing I don't like sine this is your first year playing I dislike the fact that he already has a powerful jumping serve. In the on the team in the anime not many players can perform it with only two players (if I remember correctly) being able to and all the players on the team all have played for over a year.

Other than that it's a great character.

(get rid of tail, Everyone of his Large canine in his jaw are Golden Capped and his Hair is only to his Shoulder, he has a Mike Tyson styled Part in his Hair on the Right side of his Head. add all of those with the Picture and that is what he looks)

Height:
6,6 ft ( Or 200 cm)

Other: Kuma is called by many as Hercules as His Strength is Godly, as he can Stop any power Spiker and can Go Through everyone no matter what they try and do. he can get off the Ground Surprisingly Fast and High with his Explosive Jumps but he also Hang in the Air for some time which allows him to find a Better spot so he can destroy the blockers that trying to block him which is very surprising as to how big and heavy he is. he is slow and heavier than many Players, which makes him very difficult to use in a fast offense or defense as a result many coach throw him in the back row sometimes using his power and jump to go through a block which is very uncomfortable for him as he spikes better when he is closer to net. He is Right Handed but He can Use his Left just as well but not as Powerful. he has some skills and Learns very quickly but he doesn't use many of them but he remembers them when he is focusing before a game.

The Reason why Kuma has so many years of Playing is that he went to America when he was about 3 years old, he joined many Leagues when he was 6 and half years old, he Played Middle Blocker as his Height was used for it but His Strength were used for Both wing Spikers. he was considered a Ace on his Team but he slapped the People Hard if they said that to him because he tells himself that he is never the Best Player on his Team. He Became a Defensive Minded Player that also Made use of Very Well and Good Offence.

Before Every Match, Kuma Drinks About 20 Protein Shakes then Eats 2 pounds of Meat from Chicken, Cow and Pig. He then Sleeps while listen to Music, Many of Teammates get sick watch him Go through so many Drinks and Meat But he plays amazing during Games make People Beileve that is the Key to his Shocking Play but those that have Tried don't play at 100 percent but they Play at 25 Percent instead, That is Why People Call him a Freak of Nature.

In a sense a back-up ace would play when the ace is injured or having a bad day, it might also come on if we need more offensive power after all two ace's could end up being better than one!

So would a back up have some the boosts like a actual Ace going against a three man block because I made Kuma to be a unstoppable power spiker.

The way how i'm going to make the ace work is going to be an advantage rule much like in tabletop games. In a sense while most people spiking roll 1 2sided dice the ace would roll two and if either succeed it would work. But yes Kuma would get this bonus.
