Fantasy Guardians{Part 2}(Leopard&Svenny)

Galaxxies

Maybe I belong among the stars
Masters. They have been around for many years, keeping out of the eyes of the human. To humans, a Master appears as any other human being. They simply have powers beyond those of normal humans. Then, Masters were discovered many, many years ago. Because of this, they were each given an animal to protect them once powers developed. This animal was called a Guardian. These Guardian's are always larger than their normal counterparts unless the animal is already fairly large as normal. Masters and Guardians were each given a crystal that matched. This was their connection; Masters and Guardians can speak to each other. But no Master can speak to a Guardian that is not his own, but Guardians can understand all humans.
Shortly after the creating of the Guardians, different schools were made. Just a few in the entire country. Here Masters trained to better their powers and learn to fight with their Guardian in battle. But, again the humans found the Masters. Much was done to conceal their identities, but nothing worked. The government waged war. All schools were set to be destroyed. The government succeeded. In most schools, everyone was killed. But at one, two Masters and two Guardians made it out alive.

After their journey had a happy end, a new generation begins. This is the story of a master struggling through life in a normal college, especially after she meets her roommate who is a vampire. Their struggle is not the government, but something else entirely.

Just past shoulder length doesn't have bangs, it all swoops over to the right with her part off to the left side. It's gently wavy, nothing untamable. Will braid it, put it in a ponytail, or just let it fall naturally.
Description:
Larkin is a tall girl, standing around 5'10'. Though, thanks to her current vampiric nature, she is muscular and fit. Her skin is light tan in colour. She has an oval shaped face, upturned, deep-set eyes, and a button nose. Larkin tends to sport dark colors, but in very relaxed clothing. One will most often find her in dark wash jeans and black shirts. Though when the time to dress up has come, she's not scared to go all out. She stays towards the more elegant and sexy look, though. Long, curve-hugging dresses with heels to match is her favourite.
She always wears her leather bracelet. It's a simple leather band with a deep aqua stone set into it, held down by metal clasps. Over the years, the leather band has changed as it has grown worn and outdated, but the stone stays. This stone has her family crest etched into it. It's rather simple really; a key with a scroll wrapping around it. Her current version is light brown leather with her name burned into it in an elegant script.

||Deeper Into Who I Am||
Likes:
Books, music, alone time, Winter
Dislikes:
Unnecessary violence(but will when needed), being around too many people when the focus is on her, forming friendships when she knows she has to leave them
Personality:
Larkin is a rather quiet girl. But, she is more than willing to speak her mind. Most of her vampire acquaintances pick on her for her humanity, but she prefers to be among the living. It's something she misses. And this has turned her bitter. While she enjoys being in the middle of humanity, she sticks to herself for the most part. Using a facade of a bitchy personality to push others away. She's been so long without friendly human contact, that she's terrified of letting others in. She builds wall after wall to keep everyone out. Larkin has decided that sarcasm and wit are what will keep her alive, so she keeps it that way.
History:
Larkin Kaylock was born to simple farming family back in 1803 in Georgia. She was the first born of two. Her little brother Charles followed 4 years later. Larkin was a quiet, good girl back then. She did as father instructed and was set to marry a nice man by the name of Alec Taylor. Alec was a wealthy man, more so than the Kaylock's. But Alec had his eye set on Larkin in all her youth and beauty and so asked her father for her hand in marriage. The man quickly agreed and dates were set. Now, Larkin wasn't a fond of Mr Taylor, but as the "good girl" she did as her father wanted. The night her life changed forever was the night before her wedding. There was a Ball planned for that night. Larkin begged her father and was allowed to go, so long as Alec escorted her. It was here, that she was killed. Well, turned is a much better word. While enjoying herself that night, Mr Taylor had wandered off and left her to have her own fun with the men in the town. Of course, all knew she was to be wed the next day, and so only daces among friends happened. Until she met another. He wanted her for himself. Mr Morris was all she coaxed out of him for a name. He smooth talked her and whisked her around the dance floor, before luring her away. Larkin soon found herself alone in a room with the man. He explained how he was such a better fit for the girl. And against her will, Larkin fell into his trap. Looking back, she knows he used his mind tricks on her. He fed her his blood and then killed her. He left her for the night and made his way to her home. There, he used the same mind tricks used on Larkin to convince her family that she had been engaged to himself rather than Alec. The man even went as far as to taking care of Alec himself.
Larkin spent the next few decades married to the man while they both hid their natures. On the many times, she tried to run, he only threatened her family. Since his mind tricks wouldn't work on another supernatural, he couldn't make her stay; so he used fear. And eventually, her brother. Little Charles was turned just as his sister had been. He was 25 when he was changed. And Mr Morris, also known as Phillip kept the poor boy in a half-starved state; only kept alive by his sister's compliance. But an opportunity presented itself and Larkin ran, dragging her brother with her. The two travelled everywhere for the next 60 years, outrunning Phillip Morris the entire time. He caught up to them both while they were in Paris. Here, he was killed by Charles. From then on, sister and brother stayed together, finally free.
That is, until early in the 1900s. Charles managed to piss off the wrong vampire. Charles was very much a smooth talking ladies man, and just so happen to smooth talk the wrong vampire's human girl. He was killed and Larkin killed the vampire. Since then, she's been on her own, slowly growing further and further from humanity. So she tries to keep herself immersed in it, hoping to gain some of it back. She travels every few years, enrolling herself in some university or another. She always starts as a freshman, so she can stay in one spot for a few years. She holds many degrees in many subjects under many names, her most common studies being in the biology sector. She has recently moved again, landing in a new place. Here, she's declared herself a pre-med student, hoping to finally finish medical school for the first time.

|| More in Depth ||
Personality:
Annabel takes after her mother quite a bit. Although she is not as stoic and closed off as Adysin is, she is stubborn, determined, and a fighter. Once Annabel sets her mind to something, there is nothing anyone can do to get that idea out of her mind. It doesn't matter if it's something good, or something bad, she will get it done, in any way possible. Not only is she stubborn, determined and a fighter, but she also has a huge soft spot. Whereas Adysin didn't, Annabel is much kinder to strangers and less mistrusting. Usually she makes a point to try and be kind, though that doesn't necessarily means that she trusts the person. Being raised in a very protected manner, lead her to be naturally suspicious of people, though that doesn't stop her from being kind to them, even when they don't necessarily deserve it. Annabel is also very cunning, meaning she quite often plays people for fools even though she knows exactly what they are talking about. She does this in order to get in control of the situation. Though Annabel is stubborn, cunning, determined, kind, welcoming, yet suspicious, she has a deadly part to her as well. When people she deeply cares about are being threatened, she will stop at nothing, to take revenge.
History:
Annabel was born to a mother who was just 15 when she gave birth. At first, her mother kept her, wanting to find a way to make things work. But, after a surprise visit of another master, she was convinced that she needed to get her feet upon the ground. In order to start a life for herself, Annabel was given away to an orphanage, in the hopes that she would find a loving home. Instead, the one person Adysin wanted least to find her, found her; her father. There, Annabel was well taken care of, and fed lies about her mother. After realizing that Annabel had gotten in the grasp of her fathers hands four years later, Adysin basically kidnapped her daughter and brought her with her on the journey she was on with another master, Ryder. At first glance, Annabel had felt a strong connection to her mother and knew that everything her father had told her was a lie. The connection between noble families runs deep through their bones, bonding them with a brand on their arm. Ever since that day, Annabel has been happy and contempt, even when they moved to a town where only Master's lived. At six years old, Annabel discovered her power and was rewarded her Guardian, which she was allowed to choose. Annabel lead a very sheltered life, as Adysin spoiled her to pieces and was also very suspicious of the world. But eventually, her parents, Adysin and Ryder, let her go out into the world and discover what life was outside the protection of the town she grew up in. Which lead her to coming to the university where her whole life would change.

Brief Description:
Annabel is built much like her mother. She is smaller than her, standing at an average height of 5'6", but she is just as muscular. Her skin is a rather normal color, pale in the winter and tan in the summer. Annabel has two dimples, seen when she smiles and when she laughs. She has a tattoo on her arm that she was born with, a sword with a rose vine wrapped around it. It is the mark of the House Crawford, linking anyone with the same blood. In addition to that tattoo, she has another one behind her ear of a dragon, indicating that her Guardian is a dragon. Annabel usually sports fancier clothes, blouses, flannels, shorts, long pants, and any other kind of shirt one can imagine. Unlike her mother, Annabel loves color. (Will get more detailed in rp)
Accessories:
She has a necklace that has a piece of Amber in it, her charm she uses to communicate to Arren. Arren has a bracelet thing around one of his feet, that sports the same stone.

Larkin watched wide-eyed as Annabel so easily flirted with some woman. The girl kept eating her fries as she watched the encounter unfold before her. When Annabel walked back over, Larkin simply frowned at her. "Damn... I was really looking forward to seeing you in that, buttercup." With the little term of endearment, Larkin stood and carried her garbage to throw away and put up the plate she had used. She walked back by the table to retrieve her room. With a simple pat on the shoulder, Larkin gave a half smile. "Maybe, I'll just have to buy you something pretty and lacy myself. Though you have to promise to model it for me." Larkin gave a little chuckle before heading off towards the door they walked in at. She didn't even look to make sure that Annabel was following her. As she made her way out of the building, she decided that she wanted to take more of a walk around campus. She knew her class schedule but had yet to go and check out all of the building around campus. And while the actual classes may have been the last thing she was here for... Larkin did like to make a somewhat decent impression on her professors. Walking in late to class was not a good way to do that. So, the girl pulled out her phone and opened up a map of the campus. Locating the building of her first class, she directed herself towards it. Annabel could follow if she liked. But right now, Larkin was focused on hunting down the biology building. Most of her classes were held in there. She had done something kind of smart this time... She had enrolled as Pre-med. None of her many degrees were quite as extensive as this. If Larkin decided to actually finish it... She'd be here at this university for quite a while. But, maybe it was time she settled down somewhere for more than 4 years. Once she graduated, Larkin up and left. Either to another university for another four years of a different degree. Or to travel for a year or two before picking up at another college somewhere. This had been her routine for many years now. It was how she kept herself sane. How she kept herself just on the outside of humanity. She loved it.

When Larkin spoke like that to Annabel, she felt a flush come over her cheeks. No one had ever spoken to her like that, and what she was implying was even more unheard of. Being raised by lesbians, she knew that women made moves on other women. Was this to be considered one? Or was this just playful bantering? Annabel was too innocent to tell. Sitting for a moment in silence, she watched Larkin walk away from her. She hesitated to walk after her roommate, but figured that they came together, so they shall leave together. Annabel raised to her feet and hurried after her, trying to catch up with her as quickly as possible. The task proved to be difficult as Larkin somehow walked much faster than Annabel. By the time she caught up with the dark haired girl, Annabel was slightly out of breath. "Couldn't wait for me could you?" Annabel questioned, shooting her an accusing look. "What are you doing anyway?" Larkin was walking a different way than they had taken to go to the cafeteria, so curiosity sprung up in Annabel. She could recognize a few buildings, but besides that, everything drew a blank. This campus was much larger than she had ever imagined from just looking at the pictures. Adysin and Ryder, though it was mostly Adysin, had almost forbidden Annabel to go to college after finding out about her plan. The thought that their precious daughter would leave the home had terrified them. Being a Master, Annabel had to agree to compromises to be allowed to set food on this campus. For example, Annabel had to return to her little town of River Bend after her four years were over, no exceptions. Growing up as a Master was far more complicated than a mundane human would ever be able to comprehend, nor would Larkin.

"Hmm?" Larkin was focused on her map as Annabel finally caught up. "Oh, I'm gonna go check out the buildings for my classes. You gonna tag along, buttercup?" Larkin wasn't sure where the name had come from... But it had made Annabel turn an adorable shade of pink before. So, Larkin decided she may keep it around for a while. Just because she didn't plan on anything actually happening with her roommate, didn't mean that Larkin couldn't make the poor straight girl squirm. It was actually kind of hilarious. Larkin turned at a crosswalk and headed up the sidewalk to a large, old, red-brick building. "The Lox building." Larkin smiled. "Got any classes in here? I'm gonna head in and look around. I've got a few here and it looks like a decently sized building." Pulling her phone back up in front of her face, Larkin scrolled off of the map of campus and to her class schedule. She headed to the class she had on the first floor. But this time... This time, Larkin did look back to see if her roommate was behind her. She didn't want to admit it, but her roommate was growing on her a bit. She was like this adorable little piece of humanity. Of course, Larkin had had numerous roommates before, but they had all turned away at the first sign of her bitchy attitude. But Annabel had clung to her and tried to make Larkin like her. Larkin admired that. A lot. But she had to remind herself to keep the girl at arm's length... Or more. because she didn't want to risk getting attached. Annabel was just a simple human. She would age. She would grow old. She would live her life. While Larkin was forced to stay stagnant forever.

Annabel wasn’t sure where the sudden change in Larkin had come from. One moment she was distant and reluctant to speak with her, the next, she was almost cheerful. A little look of annoyance flashed over her face as Larkin looked away, fixating on her phone again. Annabel had known her only for a couple hours, but just within those short hours, Annabel had experienced three different moods. She had been vacant, then down right strange, and then this. Whatever this was. This year was going to be a rollercoaster, Annabel could feel it in her bones. When Larkin spoke perviously she had used the word buttercup again, and disputed Annabel being frustrated with her, she has felt another flush come to her. It was weird hearing someone call her by an endearing word that wasn’t Annie or anything her mother’s called her. Annabel was ripped from the thoughts of her parents when Larkin asked her if she had any classes in this building. Looking up, she studied her for a moment and then said, “I think so. I have some kind of science class in here.” Annabel followed after Larkin after seeing that the girl had looked over her shoulder to see if she was coming. Just at that moment, with the sun hitting her perfectly, something struck her as odd about the girl. Maybe she just came from a particularly pale family. Masters never ran very pale, and if they did, they did get a sort of tan, since ideally they spent a lot of time outside practicing. “Show me the way.” Annabel said, smiling at Larkin once more. Her previous frustration had disappeared and she was back to being her old chipper self, ready to make her new roommate love her.

Larkin looked up from her phone. "What class? I need to find my Bio 1 class. Come on." Larkin headed into the main entrance of the building, looking around for a sign of classrooms anywhere. "Room 134..." She mumbled the words to herself as she glanced around. Finding a large sign with numbers and arrows, the girl found her direction. Turning down a hallway, she started ticking off room numbers as she went. "Found ya." More mumbled words as she stopped in front of the classroom door. She peeked into the room to find a lecture hall style room. Thankfully, the teacher didn't seem to be around, so she stepped into the room. The floor sloped downward at a gentle angle in the aisles with rows of tables and attached chairs situated on long steps. At the front of the room, a large whiteboard covered the wall but seemed useless as a projector screen hung down in the middle of it. Larkin smiled, these were always her favourite types of rooms. The smaller classroom sizes were never her favourite. Hell, she'd watched the develop through colleges.

Annabel followed Larkin into the building, silent for the time being. The large hallway was rather overwhelming compared to the small town school that she had grown up in. When they reached the classroom, she was even more overwhelmed. Reaching up her hand, she slowly rubbed her right temple, a habit she did when she felt overwhelmed about something. Coming from a school with just about a hundred people per grade, seeing something at this scale was crazy. There was way too much to look at and way too much to take in. “I think I’m taking Bio 1 too.” she said, still rubbing circles into her temples. This side of Annabel was rare. She was reserved when in stressful situations, and the thought of starting classes in the next couple days was sending her head spinning. Coming from a provincial town, she was defeating the odds. Masters stayed in River Bend, yet she had managed to leave. Managed to set her foot in the wild outdoors. And, turning her head towards Larkin, realized that this woman was the start of it all. Her first human friend. Her first tie to humanity. Her first step into the big outdoors. Her hand slipped from her temple and glided through her hair before letting it drop at her side. “Maybe we have it together?” There was a hint of hopefulness in her tone and her eyes returned to the same sparkle it had before. Although she was overwhelmed, perhaps with Larkin it would be a little less overwhelming.

Larkin turned towards her roommate as she entered the room. Noticing the way she rubbed her temple, she almost asked her what was wrong. But the side of herself that told her to not grow attached to Annabel shut her up quickly. "You don't care. You don't care." She repeated the thoughts over and over again in her head. So, instead, she talked about the class. "Maybe we do." She offered up a small smile. Larkin hadn't even noticed that she had stepped closer to the girl at the first signs of her stress. But once she noticed, she quickly took a few steps back, putting space between the two of them. Larkin didn't want to get close to Annabel. She had to keep her at arm's length. They couldn't be friends. Roommates were as far as it needed to go. "We could be study buddies, I guess." Larkin took another glance around the room before heading back out. She could feel the girl's stress building. "Come on, let's go find my other classroom." Larkin headed out of the room and stopped at the door to wait on her roommate before continuing on, looking for her second classroom.

Annabel noticed Larkin step closer to her and then step back again. It made her conclude that the problem wasn't physically, it was mentally. Larkin wanted to be friends, but she wasn't letting herself be friends. Something in her past had made her cautious of new people. Annabel was determined to break down those walls and have herself crawl into the gap in her heart that was empty. Knowing this about Larkin made a small wicked smile cross her face, a new sparkle lighting in her eyes. She had a game plan, a game plan that was not going to go over well with Larkin. But with time, Larkin would be convinced. It would just take time. "You won't be able to resist! You'll have to sit with me all the time, you can't get rid of me!" Annabel teased her. When Larkin moved away towards another classroom, Annabel trailed behind her at a slight distance. Maybe if they had a class together, they would bond over something. Perhaps a similar interest. Although biology wasn't exactly what she wanted to do with her life, maybe she could find something interesting in the topic. "What class are we looking for now?"

"Won't be able to resist? Hmm... Is that what you think, buttercup?" Larking smirked at the girl. "Maybe it's you who just can't resist me." Larkin batted her eyelashes a bit. "I mean... You are the one who tried to steal a poor helpless girl's apron just to wear for me." Larkin gave a flirty wink before continuing on down the hallway and then turning to head up a flight of stairs. "And we are going to room 357. I have an animal classification class there. And I think that's all I have in this building." Once at the top of the stairs, she pulled out her phone again to recheck her schedule. "Yeah, that's the only two classes I have in here." She tucked her phone back into the back pocket of her jeans and started glancing at the room doors. As she was reading the numbers, she happened to walk right into a large something. When she came to her senses, she found herself on the floor with a broad-shouldered guy looking down at her.
"Sorry, there, miss." Muscles extended a hand to her, flashing what she guessed was supposed to be a dazzling smile. "I think you just fell for me. Hi, I'm Mason." His voice was all arrogance like he had been showered with female attention his entire life.
Larkin refused the hand and turned a glare to the boy at the obvious flirty remark as she stood up without his help. "Maybe you should watch where you're going." Her voice was level and calm, but clearly not dealing with any of his shit. "You're in the way of my classroom."
The guy turned behind him and glanced at the room. "You're taking Animal Classification with Jones as well?" He winked at her, while Larkin had to hold back from bearing her fangs at the boy. "Guess that means I've got my lab partner already."
Larkin said nothing and shook her head as she turned back towards her roommate. She grabbed the girl's hand and stepped around the guy, making a show of pulling Annabel closer to her. "Come on, babe." Larkin watched as his expression fell and she felt a certain spark of victory in her. Once into the classroom, Larkin released Annabel and turned towards her. "Sorry, about that."

Annabel stared at Larkin, her eyes rounding slightly. The girl had a point. Annabel had made an attempt to flirt with Larkin, or whatever she had planned on doing with the apron. To be honest, Annabel had no idea what was riding her when she did something that impulsive and stupid. She had a boyfriend, after all. Her mouth parted to speak words in retort, but was stopped when Larkin ran into a dude. A huge dude, to be exact. Annabel, at her 5 foot 5, had to tilt her head up a little to get a good look at his face. He was handsome in traditional model standards. He was muscular too, and his arm was speckled with tattoos. Annabel raised her eyebrows as she focused on his eyes, a steady blue, a shade darker than her own. Her eyes were crystal clear, where as his were stormy blue. There was something off about him, Annabel noticed. The way he was ogling Larkin sent a shiver down her spine and the hair on the back of her neck rose. She didn't like this guy one bit, despite the fact that he was good looking. When Larkin told him off and grabbed Annabel to her, Annabel bit her lip in order to suppress her surprise. As Larkin dragged her away, she turned to the guy and said, "Stay away from my girlfriend, creep!" Her voice was full of threat, her eyes flashing with warning. She was serious, she wanted him to stay away from Larkin, even if they weren't in any sense together. And her threat, however dismissed by the man with so many muscles, was true. She could kick his ass, even if he worked out because she had been educated in ways that didn't just build muscles. To make a point, she slipped her hand into Larkin's. When they walked away, Annabel turned to Larkin and said with a serious face, "Don't be his partner. He rubs me the wrong way. I swear if he approaches me I will kick his ass." Annabel paused to shoot a look over her shoulder at the boy who was watching them walk away, "Trust me, I can too." She was fuming, guys like that pissed her off. Perhaps she got part of this passion from her mother, but she embraced it it fullheartedly. Tom was so different from that man, he was timid and shy, but sweet and thoughtful. He never pressed her for anything, although she had given him everything willingly, even if she didn't love him completely. It was only by the time that they left the building that Annabel realized that they were still holding hands and she pulled her hand away awkwardly, "Sorry." she murmured softly.

Larkin couldn't help the smile that overcame her as Annabel called her, her girlfriend. Larkin wasn't sure why it felt so nice for this straight, human roommate of hers to use such language. She mentally shook her head. She shouldn't be thinking that way. She was pulled back by Annabel claiming how she could kick that guy's ass. "Sure, you can, buttercup." Larkin's words weren't totally dismissing. Hell, a fight was just as much about brain as it was brawn, and she could already tell that Annabel had the brain part covered. Once out of the building, Larkin realized the hand holding when Annabel let go. She felt herself frown and want to reach for the girl's hand again. But she simply stepped to the side. That would be unwise. Larkin instead chose to just walk on. "Let's head to the next one. Where do you have more classes?" Larkin once again, pulled out her phone to check what other buildings she needed to go to. She groaned as she took a peek at the map. "I have a class all the way across campus. That's gonna be fin to get to." She grumbled. If only she could use her vampire speed. Then it would be a piece of cake. But with campus bustling with students going to and from class, that would be impossible. She'd have to walk like a normal human.

Annabel stiffened when Larkin seemed to doubt her abilities to beat up that much more muscular guy. But, she calmed herself immediately remembering that it was strange in human culture to assume a lean girl like Annabel could beat him in a fight. In the world of Masters, it was some times a given that a smaller, more petite person could be a much better and stronger fighter than you. Because in a world where the education revolved not only on academia, but also fitness, it wasn’t shocking that a smaller person with good strategy could defeat someone who was all brood strength. But, in the human world, it was either you were strong and dumb, or lean and smart. At least, so it seemed on the outside. “You don’t believe me then?” Annabel questioned, giving Larkin a quizzical look. Perhaps it was wise not to show off too much, it would only draw more attention. When Larkin mentioned finding other classes, Annabel agreed. It would be good for her to get more steps in since she wouldn’t be training today, or much of any day. “Oh come on. We can walk across campus without problem! Don’t be such a lazy bum.” Annabel teased, her voice good natured. She just wanted to poke and prod, see where Larkin’s limits lay. It all tied into figuring this girl out. At least, Annabel hoped it would.

"Oh, I'm far from lazy." Larkin gave a chuckle and she started across campus. "I'd just rather be able to run and not worry about running over someone. The vampire knew good and well that her reflexes were enough that she would never trample someone she didn't want to, but she didn't want this human to think she was lazy either. Hell, if needed, Larkin could best this simple human in just about anything they went head to head in. Putting her phone away, Larkin stuffed her phone into the back pocket of her black wash jeans and then stuffed her hands into the front pockets. In doing so, a girl jogged past them. She was short and fit. A tight tank top and tight shorts covered all of her curves but left little to the imagination. Larin found her eyes following the girl's backside as she jogged on ahead of them. It wasn't something she made a habit of doing, and she often felt bad afterward, but sometimes, she just couldn't help but look. Once the girl was out of eyesight, what she had been doing hit her, and she ducked her head a bit and sent a silent apology to the girl. "Sometimes, Larkin, you are just too damn gay for your own good." Larkin silently scolded herself as she shook her head. "Anyway... Enough of who is lazy or not. Let's get to this next building."

Upon hearing the girls concern about walking from building to building, a laugh flittered from her lips. Oh this girl was too hilarious. Glancing at her, she noticed how lean she was, agile and quick footed. "I'm sure you won't run anyone over, roomie." she laughed, a grin crossing her face. Just the thought of Larkin running someone over was amusing, especially because she seemed too subdued to actually hurt someone. Her attitude was aggressive, but Annabel felt as though it was just a defense mechanism. When the girl jogged by them, Annabel followed Larkin's gaze to the girls ass. Her eyebrows shot up in curiosity, amusement dancing in her eyes. Was Larkin attracted to women? By the looks of it, it seemed so. The grin on her face grew even larger and when Larkin dismissed it, she bent over and let out a soft giggle, "Oh my god. Where you just checking that girl out?" she managed to breath out between fits of laughter. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I just found that so funny. I'm sorry, truly am." Annabel tried to recover from her burst of cackles, but it was proving difficult. Taking a couple deep breaths, she forced a serious look on her face, though the joyfulness was still in her eyes and a grin still ever present.

Larkin felt her cheeks grow a deep red as Annabel called her out. "Umm.. No. I have no idea what you're talking about."The vampire glanced up and made sure that the girl in question was nowhere in earshot. The last thing she wanted was two people calling her out. She also wasn't sure exactly how... liberal this place was. She'd rather not have people bitching at her for her sexuality. She'd had enough of it through the years, and while it was much more widely accepted, there were still the people who just couldn't get with the programme. So Larkin turned to her roommate. She had to admit, the girl looked rather adorable while she bent over in laughter. And her "serious" face was even more adorable. She looked like a little kitten. "Come on, buttercup. Let's head to this next building." Larkin gently bumped her hand onto the girl's back, urging her forward.

Annabel's eyebrows shot up in amusement when she heard the girl deny what she had indeed checked the girl out. Given that both of her parents were women, Annabel was the last person to care about that. Even though she herself was not gay, had a boyfriend and all, didn't mean she couldn't support it. Quite the contrary, she had to support it, simply because her parents were gay. When they went out in public, sometimes they got stares, mostly because they all looked so close in age, but two were clearly together while one called them 'mom' and 'mama'. Although she was a bit rusty, Adysin had taught her some German over the years, staying true to her homeland. "You know, I wouldn't care if you did. I have two mothers, after all." Annabel stated, shrugging softly, the laughter slowly fading from her face. A soft smile crossed her face, a reassuring one. She wanted Larkin to feel comfortable around her, especially when it came it came to something like that. When Larkin urged her forward, she threw up her hands in submission, allowing her to dictate the speed she walked. If Larkin's complaint meant anything, it was that this building was a distance's walk. "Alright, alright! You win."

Larkin lead the way barely half a step ahead of Annabel. "So, those two women were your moms?" She had picked up on the relationship between the two of them when she had met them, but Larkin was also wanting to hold a conversation with Annabel. She wasn't sure why. She usually pushed hard on these things. But it was so hard to not want to befriend Annabel. The girl was kind and warmhearted, but she could also kick ass if their encounter with the dudebro from earlier was any indication. Maybe they could be just friend... Even if Larkin was attracted to her and got a certain vibe from her. She usually wasn't wrong about it either. But never called someone out on it, it just wasn't polite. And Annabel had been on the phone with her boyfriend. So, maybe she was wrong this time. At least... She really hoped so. Being suck in a room with a roommate you were attracted to but stood zero chance wouldn't be fun, but at least it would make it easier for Larkin to stay unattached to this little human girl.

Annabel glanced over at Larkin as she questioned her about her mothers. At the thought of them, her heart constricted a little bit. They were all the way in Riverbend, and she was hours away from the safety of her village. Just the thought made her homesick. But instead of showing that, Annabel's faced twisted into a smile. "Yes." Annabel began a small tale, "They've been together for almost 15 years, ever since they found me." She paused for a moment, remembering that fateful moment in the bank so long ago. The moment she had known that Adysin was her mother, the way their tattoos seemed to be pulled to each other. It had been the day she had left her birthfather, the man who had been so horrible to her mother and to her, though as a young child she didn't understand it. To Annabel, that had been love, that had been the way to show love. But Ryder and Adysin saved her from that boomed path, shown her how two people could really love each other. Change for each other. It had been a truly beautiful story. "Adysin, she's my biological mother. It's hard to tell which one she is, since we look practically identical. But even before they were officially together, we were all a family in a way." The beginning of their lives together, had been rough. It had been a never ending road of wondering, will we make it to the end of this day? Yet, here Annabel as, recalling their journey to Riverbend. Annabel flashed Larkin a sad smile at the memories, knowing just how horrible their lives had looked back then. But now, they were all safe, what Adysin had worked so hard on.

Larkin could sense a mood change in Annabel as they walked and the girl talked. She seemed... Kind of sad? But even that wasn't the right word for Larkin to put to it. Larkin pushed the thoughts aside and listened as Annabel talked. "Fifteen years is a long time." Her voice trailed off as she was thrown back to the last, and only, relationship of hers that had lasted longer than that. It's ending was the reason that pushed Larkin to withdraw from people. Watching as her love grew older and Larkin stayed the same, only for her to outlive the girl. She vowed she'd never put herself through that again. But she mentally shook her head. Now was not a time to be getting into that. "Wait... What do you mean, they found you?" Larkin raised an eyebrow in question. At the girl's sad smile, Larkin felt herself wanting to reassure her somehow. But she ended up doing nothing and taking just a small step away from Annabel to put a little bit of space between them. She had already grown much closer to Annabel that she had ever intended to, and that worried her. Larkin knew her bitchy persona was a false set up to keep others out, and when it faltered, she was never happy about it. Maybe, she would have to push the girl away as time went on. They shouldn't be friends.

Nodding in agreement, Annabel remained silent for a second longer before Larkin came with a follow up question. Annabel squirmed slightly and ran her hand over her chin briefly. She didn't know her very well, why should she tell her how her mother found her? But if they were to be friends, shouldn't Annabel have the utmost honesty with her? As she fought with herself, she continued to walk alongside her. Her gaze moved towards the trees that where scattered along the walkway. It was a warm day, and stretching her legs in the warmth felt nice. "My mother gave me up for adoption, but she took me back." Annabel offered eventually, turning her gaze towards Larkin to see how she'd react to that. Her roommate was a human, and if she would mention that her mother had kidnapped her, it may cause problems. And she didn't need anyone knocking down her parent's door, with or without them being masters. "She was only sixteen when she had me, she wasn't capable of taking care of me until she was older." Annabel decided not to mention the endless wealth her mother sat on, though rarely used. She preferred to use the money she herself had worked for, keeping it in a separate bank account. Annabel and her mother were similar in that way, they both hated taking help from others, even if Adysin was being helped by her deceased family. "So when I was four, she and Ryder found me and took me in again."

"Oh, I see." Larkin looked up to see the building they were heading towards at the end of the sidewalk they were on. "So, they were together when they took you in? That must have a different thing to go into." Larkin gave a small smile to the girl as they kept on walking. It had been so long that she barely remembered what it was like when she was with her parents. Though she did remember that they had never been particularly fond of each other. Her mother had been set to marry her father much like Larin's arranged marriage with Mr. Taylor had been. It was one of the main driving forces against her wanting to marry the man. But that was so long ago... No need to dwell on it now. Larkin shook her self lightly as if shaking off the thoughts of her past. "It's good that were able to find your way back to her. To them, I mean." Larkin smiled at her roommate. "Come on, the building is just right here." She sped up slightly and turned off the side to head up to the front of the building. Giving Annabel another little grin, she held the door open. "After you, buttercup."

Larkin's words were an understatement. It had been very different, but given the circumstances at the time, she hadn't been given much time to adjust. She had no other option, or she'd find herself dead. Quite literally. If memory served her correctly, the way their journey ended could have just as well ended with the three of them dead. But, trying to explain that to a simple human wasn't going to make sense. Annabel would have to go into their powers, and why they were being chased. Exactly what Masters are forbidden from doing. To tell a human about masters was almost punishable by death, unless the human decides to live in peace with it, or if the master gives up her guardian and powers. It was like a wizard practicing underaged wizardry in front of muggles, a big no no. Turning her attention back to the woman walking beside her, Annabel spoke once more, "From what I can remember, it was marginally better than where I came from. So, I was glad that they found me." As they approached their building, she slowed down slightly to take a good look at the three story campus building. It was larger than the previous one they had been in, and she silently hoped they wouldn't run into any other douchebags. The last thing she wanted was for her composure to snap and to become like her mother. Annabel and Adysin were very similar, except in one way. Where as Adysin had no patience whatsoever, Annabel tried to keep it together long enough for the encounter to end. But after running into one person like that, she wasn't sure if she could handle it.

Stepping into the building after Larkin offered the door to her, she examined the inside. It seemed structured differently than the other one, more old fashioned. The other one had had bright white floors of polished tiles, and this floor was made of cracked stone. Turning towards Larkin yet again, Annabel questioned, "what class did you say you had in this building?"
