Reversal - 10% chance
Stage 2
Duration - 168 hours
Symptoms - old wounds begin to heal including regeneration of organs, major nerves, growth of fangs and claws, radical changes in sensory organs. Skin becomes photosensitive. The activity of the frontal lobes begins to decrease and the primal brain begins to take over.
Stage 3
Duration - 3 weeks minimum (appears to be dependent on nest size)
Symptoms - Ears become distinctly batlike. Echolocation fully developed. Near blind in bright light. Maniacal physical abilities.
Stage 4
Duration - 72 hours
Symptoms - This is a Chrysalis stage in which the vampires enter a womb / pod hung in caves. These pods are never left unattended.
Stage 5
Attributes. So far as is known this is the final form of the vampires. They are capable of flight. They are highly resilient to physical assault. They are strong enough to fly while carrying a full grown man. So far as is known they still operate on an instinctual level.
Pack Attributes
When operating as a pack vampires appear to develop tactics approaching human intelligence. This is even more pronounced in the presence of Stage 5’s. One possible explanation is the development of a localized hive mentality. Evidence for this is on the occasional sacrifice of their members and a recent change in their tactics by capturing prey rather than simply feeding on sight.
It is also known that packs are territorial and will attack one another.
Vampire Behavior and Physiology
Vampires are actually warm blooded, but enter a state similar to hibernation when they sleep. In a nest a few of the members remain awake while the rest sleep.
Vampires still retain an intelligence comparable to primates. They are able to open doors, figure out elevators, stuff like that.
Vampires are nocturnal. They hate bright light and loud noises. Sunlight does burn them, but don’t expect them to burst into flames. They are unharmed on cloudy days. They do NOT like cold weather.
These are not mystical creatures, so leave the crosses and garlic at home.
Vampires will capture prey if they are not starving. Once captured, prey is taken back to the nest.
Vampires produce massive amounts of stem cells to regenerate. But this only makes them very hungry.
A shot to the head still works.
