Humans are no longer at the top of the food chain.
Somewhere in May of 2021 a vampire apocalypse, known as Gehenna, began. Vampires were humans stricken with a plague that rendered them bloodthirsty, animalistic, nocturnal and very tough to kill. The disease, fortunately, wasn’t airborne. It was delivered through saliva or blood. A single bite or even a kiss was toxic - with no known cure.
It is believed that the first outbreak was the result of a new strain of influenza. This strain killed millions before it was stopped. Then it is believed the new strain mutated. The new strain was delivered by bats. The bats began attacking in an extremely uncharacteristic fashion on every continent. At first no one realized the danger or the cause of the strange behavior. People were treated for rabies as a natural habit. But the victims didn’t respond as expected. Instead they grew pale and wild. They began to attack other humans. It wasn’t long before things spread into a full scale pandemic.
It is now early 2022 (nearly a year after Patient Zero). Most people have left the cities. But there are many still willing to brave the cities in search of food and supplies. This RP begins in the region of NW Georgia. You are survivors, struggling merely to stay alive. Some of you may have been lucky enough to arm yourselves well. Others may be desperate and starving. This is about survival. This is about what it means to be human. It is about whether civilization will finally fall, or discover a new future.
