William Russell
will-jpg.374747
Will couldn't help but grin when Jacky make her comment about planning out the rest of his life. "I should be worried, but if I'm going to enjoy it then perhaps I should just let you ladies take over for me," he remarked. "Perhaps you'll both keep me out of trouble," he added, returning his love's wink.

"Oh, mother, of course I have a guilty conscience. I'm a criminal, don't you know?" he teased her, despite the statement being a fact. He wasn't apologetic about it. Clementine had married Norman and Will had to grow up under the man's wing. He considered his father to be a far worse man than he was. Besides, they wouldn't have such a nice house and Will's siblings wouldn't have lived so comfortably were it not for their shady business. He was snapped out of his thoughts a mention of the photo album. "Damn. Remind me to burn that at the next opportunity," he joked. He lowered his arm from around Jacky's shoulder and down to her waist, giving her side a playful squeeze. "Anyway, I think I was an adorable kid!"

The conversation Will was having to two of the three most important women in his life was a nice distraction. No matter what might happen, putting a stop to the gambling tonight was completely out of the question. He'd agreed to allowing it to be hosted on his premises and he wasn't about to pull out of an agreement, not when profit alone wasn't the only driving force behind it. He was just grateful he didn't have to be there in person on this occasion and potentially lead any of the Morgans to it.

Will's attention was drawn to Clementine as she stood up, almost falling, then announced she was tired. "I'm not tired. I could go at this all night," he told her. Whilst he didn't feel tired right now, he knew the moment his head hit his pillow he would be fast asleep, having not had much of it over the last few days. Though he was concerned, he couldn't help but let out a small laugh. "Be careful, Mum. If you're ready to go home just tell me and I'll have one of my guys drive you back safely."

With mention of the dress, Will turned to Jacky and sent her a curious smile. "You got a new dress? I'd love to see it, darling... unless it is a surprise?" He then cleared his throat. "Do I owe Francis some money for it?" he asked, figuring she'd bid on the dress in question.

Dorothy Morgan

Dottie smiled as Alena spoke to her. She wasn't sure what Darius' dad looked like, but she could already tell her schoolmate's good looks must have been hereditary. His mother was so pretty. "Hi, Alena. I'm actually called Dorothy Morgan, but my family only ever call me Dorothy when I'm in trouble. I mean... not that I'm in trouble very often, of course," she said, with a playful wink and a sudden blush evident on her rosy cheeks. She immediately mentally berated herself for getting flustered and talking to Darius' mother like that. It probably wasn't a good idea to tell the mother of the guy she crushed on that she wasn't always sensible. "Aww, man. It's a real shame he couldn't be here tonight. No offence, because you look so young anyway, but it's full of older people in here. I was kind of hoping to see more people my age tonight.

Alena knew all too well of Dorothy's family since Alena worked at the hospital, she has been getting more patients then she could count who were caught in the crossfire of those two feuding families. Alena knew what it was like being a young girl in all this madness they call 'family business.' "Well, Dorothy you have a lovely name. Darius is a lucky guy to have a friend like you," Alena said to the young girl with a warm smile. "I tried to get him to come dear, but you know how boys are. But do not worry, I will scold him when I see him for not being here." Alena said with a soft chuckle and in the back of her head, she really was going to scold him for missing up the opportunity in coming. Alena felt sorry for the young girl, she was really hoping to see Darius and he never showed up. When she heard Dorothy mention the fact that this event had older people here, and that she wished more kids her age were around here. Alena looked to her side to see that a man was staring at Dorothy before Alena cut him a cold look and he turned the opposite direction.

Harvey Woodward

gtr-jpg.374905
Harvey listened as Oliver explained how Will would slip up and do something foolish. He didn't doubt that would be the case and he would be ready to make him regret crossing the Morgans when that time came. "Oh, I'm counting on that. I don't much like being lied to, so Russell will realise the severity of his mistake when the time comes," Harvey assured his mentor. His eyes scanned the club, easily able to pinpoint a couple of Will's younger siblings, along with the man's fiancee and mother. With his own mother living further north, family - or lack of - was one area Harvey believed he won out over both the Russells and Morgans. His rivals had nobody's safety to threaten him with, so the only weaknesses he could present were within himself. He had less to lose should be upset anyone more dangerous. "Absolutely. It's clear he cares for all of his family, but I'd say he has a soft spot for his sister, not to mention he's due to marry his fiancee soon." He shook his head and chuckled. "I'd be more than willing to remind him of what's at stake should he continue to cross us. Quite frankly, I'm surprised he's choosing to ignore the risk."

When Oliver went on to mention how Will had informed them of Dottie's potential problem, Harvey raised a curious eyebrow. He was certain their rival had only had good intentions by warning them, however, it soon became clear that his mentor's intention was that Will's words good be twisted to paint the Russell boss in a darker light. "Well, if Will was watching Dexter's youngest daughter for such reasons, that would certainly provide us with grounds for stepping in. Your brother would push for us to take the Russells down as swiftly as possible," he played along. Regardless of whether or not Francis liked smoking in her club, Harvey lit up another cigar as he remained in the booth with Allison and Oliver. His attention was briefly drawn towards Dottie, but his concern was put to rest for the time-being as she was talking to a woman who appeared non-threatening. The man who had supposedly been hassling the teenager wasn't within Harvey's sights, which was a good thing as he never forgot a face and he would feel compelled to make sure the man didn't look at anyone the wrong way again.

Dottie couldn't help but smile brightly as Alena complimented her name. She briefly glanced to the floor when the woman mentioned how lucky Darius was to have a friend like her. She felt a little embarrassed, wondering if she'd given the impression they hung out together quite often when really they'd mostly spoken during school and shared mutual friends. Dottie was attracted to him but as far as she knew he didn't have a clue about it. "Oh yeah. Boys will be boys!" she playfully agreed. "Please don't scold him on my account. Maybe he already knew this place would be full of oldies and had a lucky escape!" she half-joked.

Dottie noticed Alena sent a cold glare in someone's direction and when she turned to look she realised it was her creepy admirer. The teenager looked back to Alena and scoffed. "Ugh, that weirdo tried flirting with me earlier and I told him he was too old for me. The guy seems a bit slow on the uptake," she explained. "Thanks, though," she was quick to add, noticing Alena had made him divert his attention elsewhere.

ALEK X RUSSELL

Alek's once suave smirk turned into a serious business look, his brown eyes watching his older brother head over towards a private booth away from the crowd. Getting cozy, aren't we? Alek chuckled under his breath at the thought that popped in his mind. The male took a long drag from his cigarette, listening carefully to the words spoken at the big kids table, the words forming in front of his eyes as he awaited to be spoken to. His brown eyes glanced up from the ground and at the faces of those who sat at the table. Alek studied their features, their flaws and quirks, something Alek could possibly use as leverage in case of emergency. Alek rose a curious brow when he heard his named mentioned by his brother's 'mentor'. "Like Will said, we're pure as saints." A small smirk formed upon Alek's lips as he gave a wink to Oliver while tapping the end of his cigarette.

Once the little conversation ended, Alek nodded towards the Morgan and stood up, following Will away from the booth. "Creeps," Alek muttered under his breath. The Morgans always sent a chill down his spine but not because of fear but of something else. Alek stopped next to Will and gave his brother a small salute, "When have I ever rat you out, big bro?" Alek chuckled with a classic smirk before turning around and stomping on his cigarette. Alek's eyes buzzed around for a drink, nothing in particular as long as it had alcohol. As he wandered around, Alek felt a feminine body bump into him.

Alek stepped back a bit as a concerned look came upon his face, "You alright, doll?" He asked before a smile formed upon his face at the voice of her laugh, it felt intoxicating to hear a woman laugh. "You're absolutely right," Alek grinned, "Alekander Russell, second eldest but everyone calls me Alek." He introduced himself with a white, pearly smile. "I'm afraid I don't know your pretty face, what's your name?" He asked with a sweet voice.

Imogen Isaac

Imogen grinned when Alek asked her if she was alright. "Of course, darling. It would take more than a bump to knock me down," she assured him. When he confirmed he was one of William's brothers she momentarily weighed up the potential consequences of continuing to speak with a Russell any longer. It was a brief flutter of concern before she determined it really did not concern her. There was nothing wrong with a little socialising and conversation. Besides which, she might find out some useful information for her family just by talking to him now.

"Alek it is then." As she spoke, she couldn't help but look him over and acknowledge in her mind how attractive a man he was. Then, when he told her he didn't recognise her nor know her name, a wide and genuine smile formed on her face. She wouldn't give up fame for anything and she loved the performing arts, but to not be recognised right now was like a breathe of fresh air. Suddenly, she wasn't even inclined to try fish for information from him. Perhaps tonight she would just let her hair down and be natural. "I'm Imogen Isaac," she simply told him. "So, how's your night going, handsome? I haven't had nearly enough to drink yet. How about you?" she suggestively asked him.

Evelyn rolled her eyes when Timothy left, knowing that her brothers were always going to be breathing down her neck. Evelyn smiled to Liam as he excused himself to the restroom, her attention turning to Hanna as she requested Evelyn join her for a drink. Evelyn hadn't realized how bundled her nerves were and another drink sounded like it would ease her worries a bit. Smiling widely, she nodded her head and let Hanna lead the way towards the bar.

Once settled and drinks were ordered, Evelyn decided to strike up conversation. "So Hanna, Liam told me you are the owner of Reyne bistro, pardon me for asking but I can barely get a word in edge wise around this man fest...how did you come to be a business owner?"She hoped her question wasn't to much, Evie always had a curious speak and lately she felt as a woman, she didn't really have a say in a world full of men. Especially the Russel men. Anything that involved the possibility of her life being in danger was simply out of the question. " I'm apologize if I'm being...intrusive...I just am very impressed." A smile of respect formed on her lips as the bartender handed them their drinks.

Allison was unusually silent as the wheels turned in her head. There was a lot of information she had to take in, Oliver making it easy by pointing out the small details that she may have not noticed. A lot was against William Russell, that much was sure. But would they be able to catch him before he dusted his tracks. Allison listened closely as her brother's mind ran wild with the stories they could start about Will keeping an eye on their niece Dottie, her brother was always creative in the stories he could start...it was impressive, a quality that Allison often lacked. Lifting her glass to her lips once more, she let the liquid poison calm her nerves.

It had been mere moments ago that she was venting to Harvey about wanting to be involved in the business, now that she was, she wondered if she was in over her blonde head. The two men at this table had enough faith in her but that would not mean anything if she didn't have it in herself. Her work ethic would suffer greatly if she didn't have confidence. So as she set her glass down, now empty, she let those negative thoughts slip past her before opening her mouth to speak. Harvey and Oliver both made great points perhaps it was time to keep a plan on the back burner.

"Well boys..." She sighed, leaning forwards from her relaxed position against the booth. "I suggest the following: Keep a close watch on our dear niece and keep a close watch on someone that Will cares for dearly." Allison wasn't sure if Will could have the intentions of kidnapping Dottie, but it was always good to cover their asses. " Only act on them if he acts on Dottie...As for the casino..." Allison briefly paused to look over at William Russell, who was happily conversing keeping up a great cover.

"I think the man is just starting to realize that he might have more power than he thought...he's playing with fire and doesn't mind getting burned. He might realize his mistake and back out...but I think this is the beginning of the end for the William Russell everyone knows." Power did crazy things to people, especially men, and given the kind of man William's father was...she wouldn't be surprised if the handsome man across the room would follow in his footsteps.

Oliver sat silently as he listened to both Harvey and Allison, seeing as they were truly his most trusted advisors. Harvey of course was a much more logical answer, but he valued his sisters imput more. And it had seemed the two had come to very similar conclusions, keep a watchful eye on William Russell.

My initial instinct was that as well. Once this party ends i’ll ring up Desmond, he can help in that department... Plus his rewards is usually something he can’t refuse.” Smirking as he sipped his scotch, Harvey would know of his allusion all to well, he had trained the man using that very exploitation. Allison most likely knew also, seeing as she was working her way up within the family, only being held back by Dexter himself.

He was partially interrupted by a immediate coughing fit, most likely produced by Harvey’s cigar. Oliver was never a smoker nor condoned the behavior, but he kept his opinions silent when it came to his inner circle. “I have a proposition for you to consider. Frankly i’m growing tired of today’s formalities and I dearly wish to go home. Why don’t we go back to my penthouse, and continue our little gathering? We’re practically done here. I’ve talked to Francis, William, and my dearest brother. My work is complete.” Reaching for his cane, Oliver began the painful and awkward maneuver out of the booth, which took a minute or so. “Now you can’t refuse, i’ve already tortured myself to get up.” A playful smirk arose, however his icy eyes told a much different story. The frustration of his disability evident within his icy orbs.

Abraham had to surpress a laugh as he realized that Timothy was way too drunk to even know or remember stuff. "You should stop drinking Tim, I don't want to drag you back home like usual." He said to him before bursting out laughing when he seemed to have forgotten his age. How the hell would it make you forget your own age? He had to wonder what type of drink Timothy was drinking, just so that he could drink it too. "Tim Tim Tim, you're drunk, way too drunk to even have forgotten your own age." He said tapping his shoulder. "I wonder how mother will feel knowing that one of his own son was at an event and making himself look like a fool by drinking too much, no offense there." Well at least he said that but considering how much his mother drank, he wasn't sure how much she would remember. If she was sober when she remembered that he had been late to the event, he knew that he was gonna get an earful. "You're gonna be doing this sooner or later, so what's wrong with one of your younger brother doing it?" As he said this, he gave Edie a kiss before giving Tim a smirk.

Harvey Woodward

gtr-jpg.374905
Harvey faintly smiled as he listened to Allison's take on the situation. It was good to hear that the three of them around the table were all basically in agreement and of the same mind about how to approach things. "It will be a shame if Will doesn't come to his senses as things were running relatively smoothly between us and the Russells. If not, then I'm beyond ready for things to get a little more interesting," he remarked. Harvey's life was interesting enough, but he couldn't deny he liked a challenge and the thrill of dealing with unruly business rivals. "I'm sure Desmond won't shy away from helping to contain our pests either."

When Oliver voiced his desire to leave the club and head back to his penthouse to discuss things, Harvey raised an eyebrow. After briefly glancing to Allison, he stubbed out his cigar. Whilst he would have preferred to see things through until the end, he figured there would be plenty more evenings for him to indulge in socialising. Besides, Oliver had already struggled up from his seat, so the decision was already made. "Well, looks like we're heading to your place," he agreed. He glanced to the bar before looking back to the Morgan siblings. "I'll catch up to you both. I'll just make sure there's trusted eyes on your niece."

Harvey headed over to Desmond who seemed pretty settled in the club as he was conversing with Margaret. "Sorry to interrupt," he said, flashing a smile to the two. "Don't worry, Des, I'm not asking you to do a job for us tonight," he said, the "us" clearly including Oliver and Allison. "I'm retiring from this evening's entertainment earlier than normal, along with the Ollie and Allie. If you could just keep an eye on Dexter's youngest, Dottie, it would be much appreciated. Apparently, a man has been hassling her, so if you notice anything untoward would you mind ensuring any unsavoury gentlemen are kept away from her?" As Harvey shared his attention with Desmond and Margaret, it was clear he was happy enough for the barmaid to also keep an eye out.

Maggie smiled at Desmond as he went on, again, about her prowess in the evening's events. She laughed a little and nudged his glass. "Clearly you've had too many of these tonight, you're cut off." She teased. "That's the second time you've been flirting with me tonight, Des, I think all this fine dining and alcohol is getting to your head." She knew he certainly meant ever compliment he turned to her -ever- but she certainly wasn't about to let him walk away unscathed. She would have gone on when Mr. Woodward arrived at the bar to speak to his man. She smiled pleasantly to him but otherwise refrained from speaking, turning her attention to settling items behind the bar. When the man made eye contact with her again, indicating he wanted her to help in this endeavor she nodded and smiled. "I always keep an eye out on our patrons: she'll be fine here tonight, and I'm sure Desmond will make sure she gets home alright tonight."

Jacky smirked as Will suggested he hide his mothers photo albums; there wasn't a chance Clementine would ever let such a thing happen. She watched his mother rise, clearly tipsy and she was concerned but Will assuaged any further thoughts as he questioned the dress his mother brought up. She raised an eye brow as he questioned if he owed Francis' any money. She lifted the glass of wine to her lips taking a long drink before leaning in toward her fiance. "You'll be happy to know I didn't spend a cent tonight." She countered quietly, kissing his cheek sweetly. "A kind admirer must have seen the dress I had been fawning over and bought it for me, a gift." She watched William's expression carefully, attempting to read any changes, but two glasses of wine in it was unlikely she'd be able to catch his tell - not that she ever really could. "You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?"

Allison smiled softly as the little group seemed to be in agreement of what to do. With business talk over and the potential to spill some secrets, the party was growing rather dull for the blonde's tastes. Harvey's comment on being ready for things to get more interesting couldn't have come at a more perfect time, and she agreed with him whole heartedly. One person stood in the way of her full emerging into the business was the big boss himself and her dear dear brother, Dexter. Ollie had always believed in her abilities and was her number 1 supporter, as was she to him. Her nerves bundled by the frustration of Dexter's stubbornness and the scent of a cigar was more than enticing at the moment. Her brother was sent into a coughing fit and she looked to him concerned for a few moments, knowing that he had a distaste for such a habit. He looked tired of this event and Allison was about to suggest they head out when he beat her to it.

As much as she loved these types of things, tonight was rather exhausting, perhaps just in the information she had received. Nodding at her brother's proposition, she wasn't going to argue with that suggestion when he stood up and clarified that now both herself and Harvey couldn't refuse. Rolling her eyes and giving Ollie a laugh, she stood to her feet, nodding in Harvey's direction as he stated that he would catch up with them. A brief smile as he left graced her face, glad that more than just the family cared for the darlings safety. Turning back to her brother, she could see the frustration in his eyes and knew that the playful tone he had taken on was only another formality really. Taking his arm in her own, she walked with him towards the exit. "You know Ollie, there is no man I admire more than you." Her eyes looked to him as they walked, her older brother had always been her hero for as long as she could remember. Seeing everything he has gone through and how he's overcome the struggles amazes her more than anything. Once outside the door, she sighed and breathed in the fresh air.

Francis was leaning against a corner of the bar watching her patrons go about. She watched William interacting with his mother and future wife; the Morgan brother and sister consult with Harvey and watched as he sparked up a cigar. She'd get him for it later. Her eyes went over all the Russell's and Morgan's and high rollers. She had finally made it in this world and she was going to do her hardest to stay there. If only her parents were around, she could rub it in their faces of how successful she had gotten. Alas, they weren't; one was dead and the other rotting in prison.

Her thoughts weren't going to keep her up this time. She made her way back over to Margaret and paused, waiting for her chat with Harvey to end. "I think it's time for a last call, don't you?" She asked for her opinion before turning to Harvey pointing at him. "And don't think I didn't see you smoking in my club, Harv." She then leaned across the counter and said in a sing-song voice. "Repercussions are horrible from Frankie." When she stood back up she gave small smile and nodded at everyone at the bar. "I hope you guys had fun tonight?"

49335_xtw7rhOy.jpg

"Oh shove it!" He said, pushing his brother's shoulder. "I'm not drunk. I am enlightened, eh? It's an open bar after-all and I'm just making sure it doesn't go to waste." It was a lie, of course, considering he was both tipsy and high at the same time. He then pointed to his mother who was across the way. "Besides, have you seen the way Clem drinks?" He said, using her nickname probably when he shouldn't have been. "She's where I get it from. Blame her." When the topic of him getting into a relationship was brought back up he rolled his eyes. "Piss. Off. You can be all lovey dovey elsewhere, can't you." He gave off a fake shudder before giving a cheeky grin. "Listen, when the right girl does come along we won't have to show public displays of affection for people to know we're together or that we're in love. It'll be radiating off her how much she loves me."

"Oh a criminal like your damned father. I'd say god rest his soul but we all know that's not where he is." With a roll of her eyes, she grabbed the last glass of champagne from the table and downed it. Talk of her ex-husband always made her nerves bad. “Just don’t make the same mistake he did.” She narrowed her eyes at him, sure that he had understood what she meant. She then smiled at him. “And I’ll kill you if you ever destroyed them. I brought you into this world don’t force me to bring you out.” She turned to Jacky. “Bath pictures. Remind me later.” She nodded her head side to side, trying to decide. Another stifled yawn was her deciding factor. It had been a long night and she was ready to sleep. “I guess I will. My eyes are having a time trying to stay open.”

Will raised a curious eyebrow when Jacky told him she hadn't spent any money on the dress. "A secret admirer. Should I be worried right now?" he playfully asked her. Whilst he didn't feel jealous or suspicious that she really did have a secret admirer, he was still curious to know who had bought the dress for her and why. When she asked if he knew anything about it, he awkwardly cleared his throat. "Whilst it is tempting for me to take the credit for such a fine gesture, I'm afraid I had no hand in buying the dress for you. I'm kicking myself for not thinking of the idea, mind you. Would you happen to have any idea who would have got it for you?" he asked her.

Will looked to Clementine as she spoke about his father. He had a smirk on his face as in the back of his mind he'd often wished for his low-life father to be dead. His smile faded when she warned him not to make the same mistakes as him. "Don't you worry, mum. I'm a responsible adult and I value our family," he assured her. Just mentioning the man left a bitter taste in his mouth. When his mother redirected the conversation to the photo albums, he welcomed the humorous subject, even if it was at his own expense. "Well, I'll blame you if Jacky ditches me at the alter," he teased.

When Clementine confirmed she wished to go home, Will flagged down one of his employees and asked the man to drive her back safely. It also didn't escape his attention that Oliver, Allison and Harvey appeared to be leaving the club. At least a little of the tension would be lifted when they'd gone.

James Porter

b7bac4b3ac969876fa6d50f109f1c83b-jpg.381758
James and Lucy had spent much of the evening at the Alley Cat. For their own sake and others present, James had made a point of keeping a low profile and remained in their private booth for the majority of the event. Business could wait for a few hours as he wanted to make sure his wife and their closest associates had an enjoyable evening. James had been pleased to win an antique candelabra in the auction and was certain it would look perfect at the centre of the dining table in their West End apartment.

With eyes out around the club, James had heard of potential tensions between the Russells and Morgans but that was for them to sort out, unless it somehow affected his own business. James and Lucy had met the heads of both families, as well as their closest advisers or under-bosses. James found both Dexter and Will to be pleasant enough men. Like himself, the other two men had experienced troubled childhoods, fought their way to success and were clearly family men. Something James valued greatly in a person was their devotion to their family. Regardless of that, he'd learned from bitter experience that even family men could be devious and inhumane. It was with that in mind that he would never completely trust a business rival, no matter how amicable they may be with each other.

After sending their associates to go ahead of them to the car, James took the time alone with his wife to lovingly kiss her lips. He then knocked back the rest of his vodka before straightening out the cuffs of his shirt. "I don't know about you, love, but I'm ready to get out of here and go win some money," he told Lucy. James may now have luxuries and fancy clubs at his disposal, but he could never outgrow his roots. There was always something more satisfying about drinking in a simple old pub, cigarette in his mouth and a hand of poker cards at his fingertips.

James got up from the booth and outstretched his arm so he could take Lucy's hand to help her up from her seat. He placed his hand on his wife's lower back and set off walking in the direction of the exit. They didn't get far beyond the bar when James noticed two familiar faces. The first was Francis, the owner of the club and host of tonight's event. Never one for small talk and sucking up, he sent the lady a nod and a respectful smile. She'd put on a good show and it was for a cause he appreciated, so he could only respect her for that.

The second face he recognised was one from his and Lucy's past; it had been at least 16 or 17 years since they'd set eyes on her. A part of James told him to continue on his way, but another part simply couldn't resist approaching the woman - they were related, after all, even if she wasn't aware of the fact. He looked to Lucy to see if she too had recognised Alena Romano. He would give her the option of confronting her with him or keeping her distance, given their history.

James walked up to the bar and stopped beside Alena, waiting for a gap in the woman's conversation with Dottie before he spoke. "Alena Romano," he confidently addressed the woman. "It's been a long time since I've seen you. How has life been treating you? Is this your daughter?" he curiously asked, nodding towards Dottie. The teenage girl quickly shook her head and the more he looked at her, he remembered she was actually Dexter's kid.

Desmond Forbes

Desmond feigned a hurt look as Margaret playfully threatened to cut him off. He knew she wasn't being sincere in that regard, though it was more difficult to determine whether she objected to the idea of him flirting with her in the first place. Was she giving him a graceful out? Or toying with him as usual? And why on Earth did he care so much? He wasn't one of the other half-drunk male patrons that attempted to win her over every other night at the Alley Cat with boozy charm and half-thought-out compliments.

Des opened his mouth to reply when he turned to see Harvey approaching, giving the man a quiet nod. He could tell by the man's expression that he was here on business, not dropping by for a social call. He watched Woodward, waiting for what he had to share, like the soldier he once was standing at attention. He was somewhat relieved when the man reassured him that he wasn't giving him a task for the night. While Des was always willing to do what was expected of him for the good of the Morgans and their associates: he was well-compensated in this regard, and not only in cash... it was more difficult to accept some nights than others. Not all of his jobs involved taking a life -- in fact those were a relative minority for practical reasons -- but there was always that ever-present chance of violence whenever he was forced to take to the streets for "work".

As it happened, Harvey had something far less worrying in mind for him. As the advisor explained the situation, Desmond glanced quietly over his shoulder to briefly spot Dorothy in the crowd. He nodded his understanding as Woodward finished and Mags remarked her agreement. "Understood. I'll make sure she gets home safe and sound," Forbes said. While he frequently worked directly under Oliver, he recognized Harvey as one of the Morgans' trusted confidantes. Any word he gave was just as good as far as Desmond was concerned; besides, he had seen the man conferring with Allison and Oliver both only minutes before. "You wouldn't happen to be able to point out the man in question?" he asked.

When Margaret confirmed she was always keeping an eye out, Harvey pleasantly smiled. "Thank you, Miss Hughs. It's much appreciated," he told her. He then looked back to Desmond who echoed the lady by saying he would make sure Dottie got home safely. He was sure she'd be going home with Dexter and Mallory, but it always paid to have a backup plan. Both he and Desmond worked for the Morgans and their loyalty had naturally extended beyond those involved in the business to their family members too. "Perfect, Des. I'd do it myself, but Oliver requires me elsewhere," he explained, figuring Desmond knew Harvey worked directly with the boss' brother rather than the man himself. Upon being questioned as to what the man hassling Dottie looked like, he briefly glanced over his shoulder in the direction of the Russell boss. "I'm not sure, to be honest. William Russell informed us that he'd seen a man pestering Dottie. It was possible he was only giving us the information to take the heat off of himself during our meeting, and to be quite frank, it was rather curious that Will had been paying attention to the girl in the first place."

Harvey's attention was then drawn to Francis as she told him off for smoking in the club. He picked up on her calling him "Harv" but chose to ignore it as he'd broken one of her rules anyway. He couldn't help but chuckle a little before straightening his face. "My apologies, Francis. It won't happen again," he assured her. "I've had a good night but I must get going before the Morgans have my head. Stay safe," he told those around him. He then looked back to Desmond and gave him a single nod. "Cheers for the help."

Once he was finished speaking with those at the bar, Harvey rushed to catch up to Oliver and Allison so they could head for the former's penthouse.

Alena liked Dottie, she seemed like a good person, and she reminded Alena of how young she herself used to be. Alena gently patted the top of her head to make sure she doesn't have any hairs poking out. She brought her hand down and before she could even say anything to Dottie, she heard a deep voice beside her who spoke of her name in full. "Yes, may I help you?" Alena asked as she turned her head to the side and was surprised to see who it was. Shit., She thought to herself as she saw who it was, James Porter. "Well...well, James Porter. It has been quite long since I have seen your face." Alena told him as she looked at him for a moment, and then she saw a waiter walking around with a glass of champagne and she quickly took one from his tray and took a sip. She knew this was going to be a long night, so she needed a drink. "This beautiful young lady is not my daughter sadly," Alena said to James as she looked to Dottie for a quick moment before facing James again and never broke eye contact with him. "Life has treated me well Mr Porter, I cannot complain. But what I would like to do know is what brings you to London?" She asked him as she raised her eyebrow slightly.

with: James Misty Gray Misty Gray ; Alena sprouhtt sprouhtt mentions:
Lucy was relieved to have been in a private booth for most of the evening, not wanting to be bothered by all the formalities that came with these events tonight. Sure this was a business event, but that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy the company of her husband and their closest associates in private for a while. The first few hours were enjoyable and luck seemed to find its way in the presences of an antique candelabra which Lucy was excited to place into their apartment on the West side. But then the real reason they came presented itself and business called, as usual. Lucy was silent through most of the business discussion, only speaking to introduce herself or when making small talk. Acting like an anchor for James was what she was best at, though over the last 16 years of their marriage she could definitely manage her own now. For those who knew her here and of her families history, many said she was identical to her mother, which she often saw as a good thing now that she was older.

The Morgan's and the Russell's interested Lucy greatly, as it seemed that no matter where one went, there would always be a rivalry. Being in the position they were in, James easily made acquaintances with both of the leaders and Lucy thought of them well enough. Both seemed devoted to their families, which she could appreciate and respect and both were being civil in times when it called for it, which was something she couldn't remember the Romano's or the Sullivan's doing at any point in their rivalry. By the time business formalities were out of the way, the older blonde was now ready to head out. James easily guessed this and sent their associates ahead towards the car before taking advantage of the brief alone time. She smiled sweetly as he kissed her on the lips, she returned the kiss before puling back to admire him a moment. He hadn't changed much in the last 16 years, but his status and title changed drastically, and she was so proud of him. "That sounds like a splendid idea." She agreed with him on wanting to get out of this environment. James wasn't much for luxuries, though they did use them since they were at their disposal, he was much simpler in tastes and that's what she admired most about him after all these years. He hasn't caved with the pressure of having power much like other men did, and he knew exactly what he wanted and how to get it. Lucy still stayed out of a lot of the business stuff, feeling after her experience years ago, that was enough to satisfy her.

With James' helping hand, they moved from the both and towards the exit, his hand settling on her lower back, guiding her towards the door. Francis, as she recalled, could be seen and James offered a respectful nod of his head in her direction. Lucy offered a brief smile, enjoying the woman's style and dedication to the cause. But the second familiar face stunned her and made her smile disappear. Alena Romano. A face she hadn't seen in about 17 years stood conversing casually. After Lucy killed her mother, Vinnie Romano sent Alena off somewhere, Lucy wondered if she had been in London this whole time. Her eyes shifted to look at her husband and the look in his eyes made it clear she didn't have to face their past if she didn't want to.
A small pain could be felt in her chest at the reminder of that terrible family...but she wouldn't hide from them any longer, she had stopped that years ago. So instead she stayed by James' side and watched as he greeted the woman. A small smirk played on Lucy's lips as Alena seemed to be stunned to see her husband, clearly Alena hadn't recognized Lucy yet. Perhaps that would be for the best. She remained silent but raised an eyebrow as the woman immediately questioned what James was doing in London.

Picking up on Alena's surprise, James couldn't help but let a small smirk play on his lips for a brief time. He then looked back to Dottie as Alena told him she wasn't her daughter. The girl followed up by telling him the Italian lady actually had a son. James nodded his head to acknowledge the teenager's words but chose to keep his conversation with Alena.

"It must be in the British air. I can't complain either," he agreed. As he did, he placed his arm around Lucy's waist to suggest his wife was a factor in how well his life was treating him. "Lucy and I have an apartment in London. Ireland and England have been our home for a good five years now. We're down here on business - running the Irish business," he explained. "What about you? Married, no doubt," he curiously asked, figuring she'd be living with her son's father. He'd never seen the woman back in Chicago after she'd left all of those years ago so had to wonder if she'd ever returned to her family at all.

Oliver gave a silent nod to Harvey as he dispersed himself into the crowd to find Desmond. He knew Harvey could handle him, and he frankly cared very little about the matter at the moment. All he wanted was to leave, never a fan of social gatherings at this scale like his siblings were. The quiet middle child he had always thought...

Snapping from thought as he felt Allison cling to his arm, a usual position the two assumed, they began the long limp towards the exit. Allison helped with that as she usually helped him walk with more tempo, making it ultimately faster than his hobbling. But her words next hit hole... Tucking his head shyly down, a light simper as he processed his words, he spoke. “I appreciate the compliment Alli, but I don’t know what i’ve done to earn that...”

The briskness of the London breeze alerted Oliver’s senses as the two exited the Alley Cat, the club much hotter internally than he expected. For a moment he let go of his sister, using the arm to wave down a taxi awaiting a new passenger from the large-scale event. Taking his time inside, he entered with a grunt as he set his cane in his lap, extending his hand to his sister outside the car. As she entered, Harvey quickly emerged from the club and entered the cab.

Oliver’s penthouse had been expertly designed to his liking, and in his opinion held the best view of all of London. The interior’s walls were a creamy white, the floors light shades of flat wood panaling. A large open living room sat squarely in the middle of the apartment, a record player and mini bar close by to the white circular sofa that outlooked the balcony. To the left of the living room sat Oliver’s office, a fine piece of mahogany bookshelves and a large carved desk. That room also had a slidable door to exit to the balcony. To the right of the living room was his bedroom and bath, both private to any guests except his immediant family.
chl-royal-penthouse-terrace-crop-cmyk-mr.png

Unlocking the penthouse, the trio entered into the vastness of his home, the lights glowing upon the dim-lit patio. Removing his tie, Oliver hobbled into the living room, carefully draping said tie on the couch. He quickly adjusted his glasses with a sigh. “Harvey, be a good man and fix us all a drink. Alli, please take that to my closet with the rest. I’ll get the balcony ready.” Limping to the living room exit, he pushed the french-style doors outward, the silence of the apartment killed by the buzzing nightlife of London. Making his way to the edge of the patio, Oliver carefully leaned his cane against the cement barrier, and rested his elbows upon the wall. Gently resting his head on his arms, he allowed the heartbeat of the city to take him away...

Alena had forgotten that there was someone near James if he hadn't moved to put his hand on the blond woman's waist. Alena looked at the way his arm went around the blond woman's waist, before travelling her way up to see the women's face. Alena had no expressions on her face as she tried to study the women's face. She had seen her from somewhere, but she didn't quite yet recognize. Alena took another sip of her drink as she brought her attention to James. "I hope she makes you happy...James." Alena said to him. Alena began to remember all of her past just by looking at these two and she a devilish smirk came across her face. This was her only look for the women who were now presented in front of her. The women who Alena will always see as the women that has blood on her hands. The blood of her loved one. The blood of her mother will always be on Lucy's hands. Alena felt as if anger, or maybe vengeance was building up inside of her. "Ah, now I remember who you are." She said as she looked at James, but was referring to the women. It was then Alena slowly turned her head to the women, "Lucy Sulli-- I mean Porter, now that you two are married." Alena said as she finished her drink in one gulp. Alena had no intentions of starting a fight when she remembered that this isn't who she was now, she didn't resolve in fighting because she promised to give that all up because of the light of her life, Darius, her son. But when Dottie said that Alena had a son, Alena looked at Dottie and pressed her lips together. Alena didn't want James Porter and especially Lucy Porter to know that she has a son. Alena didn't want these people getting into her business, and now that they've seen where she's been all these years there's no telling what the future might bring for Alena. Alena had never told her father nor any of her family or friends that she moved to London. Her father, family and friends probably think that she is still lost in Italy or maybe even dead. Alena turned to Dottie, "Dottie would you be a dear in allowing me to catch up with them," Alena lied. She couldn't have Dottie spilling even more. "Married? No, definitely not married." Alena said as she began to think of how the love of her life is now dead and never coming back.

James couldn't help but smile at Alena's comment and briefly turn to look at Lucy. "She's made me happy for at least 17 years, but thanks," he remarked. He knew there was bound to be tension. Along with his help, Lucy had shot and killed Alena's mother all those years ago. However, James was not one to shy away from any confrontation, not even this one. If there was a chance of bumping into Alena again, he would rather address the elephant in the room head on.

On Alena's request, Dottie nodded her head and left the three to talk. She'd managed to pick on some kind of atmosphere so it was probably a blessing. Dottie took herself off to wander around the club in search for any of her family members. They seemed difficult to find tonight, except for Imogen who appeared to be flirting with some guy, so Dottie wouldn't interrupt her.

"You're not married? Well that is a surprise. Not that it matters, as I'm sure you're more than capable of looking after your kid on your own." Despite the bad blood with Alena's direct family, the fact she'd left them long ago spoke volumes to James and made him inclined to be civil. He was curious more than anything and it also paid to keep informed. "For what it's worth, I have no problem with you, Alena. In my opinion, leaving Chicago was a wise move and I don't doubt you're better off for it. Besides which, I bet you didn't know that you and I are related. My mother, Rayna, was your father's cousin." James gently squeezed Lucy's waist, willing to leave the conversation if she wished to. "Rest assured, Alena. I have no business here with you. I suppose I never did, not directly."

Harvey's mind had been firmly fixed on the evening's events during the journey to Oliver's place. He was far too sober for his mind to be on anything other than business. Well, except how good Allison looked tonight. Once at their destination, he followed the two siblings into the penthouse and glanced around. The place still looked how it did on his last visit, so he knew his way around.

Upon his mentor's request, Harvey nodded his head and walked to the minibar. He prepared drinks for the three of them but didn't rush, so as to give them chance to settle on the balcony. He finally joined them out on the balcony, placing the silver tray of drinks down on the patio table. He folded his muscular arms as he stood looking out onto the city. "The place looks a whole heap better from up here," he remarked, though it wasn't a joke.

A blush rose on Lucy's cheeks as her husband revealed to Alena just how long she had been making him happy, her eyes met his briefly and the same feeling she had since the first time they kissed rekindled themselves as they always did whenever she looked at him. This gesture and comment eased Lucy's tension slightly, but she couldn't help but turn her gaze back to Alena. The woman had not outright noticed who she was, but now that she had...the air became a lot thicker. Lucy felt uncomfortable but definitely wasn't going to reveal it to Alena, the way she spoke her name seemed innocent enough but she could hear the venom behind it.

Lucy continued to stay silent as James conversed with Alena feeling that he would be able to stay a lot more cool in this situation than she would. Alena was bring back a lot of feelings and memories that Lucy wanted to keep locked away, but James' words to the woman couldn't be any truer. Lucy was impressed that Alena had managed to stay out of her families business permanently after having left Chicago. It seemed that she turned out well compared to other's in her family and was proving herself to be more honorable. Alena denied being married, which now intrigued Lucy on what the story of her son was. Alena's situation from what she was told so far seemed like her sister's, Sinead. A small ache wondered what her sister and her niece were up to, feeling a bit home sick at times.

James dropped the small bomb that him and Alena were actually related to one another and Lucy's blue eyes snapped up to the Romano woman, wondering what her response would be. Lucy leaned against her husband slightly as he squeezed her waist, her eyes slowly tearing from Alena to look to him. She gave him a look that revealed she was a bit uncomfortable, but didn't have to leave until he was finished.

Allison entered the vehicle with the help of her brother's extended hand from the inside and she slide in gracefully. Harvey got in with them and the car took off in the direction of Oliver's penthouse. The blonde noticed the slight tension in the air of the cab, it seemed like the men were far too focused on business now to let the festivities from the event continue on. A few glances Harvey's way, she sent him a flirtatious smirk just to see if she could relieve some of this tension. Once successfully getting the response she wanted from him, she turned to look out the window of the cab as they pulled up to the penthouse.

Once inside, Allison followed her brother's request and took the things that needed to be taken to the closet. After that, she turned and moved towards the balcony, the city lights were beautiful from this high up. Her eyes took in the busy nightlife and wondered if this place would ever sleep. In all her time here, she had yet to see such a phenomenon. She had the feeling that if the city went silent, there would be danger in store for them. Seeing Ollie leaning against the balcony wall, watching the bustling city with a wistful look, she walked to stand beside him. Leaning against the wall now as well, she smiled. Her lips parted to speak to her brother when Harvey beat her to it.

A light laugh escaped her, though she knew he wasn't joking about the fact the city looked better from up here. "Perhaps its because all of the problems we have are so far below, its now too small to see any of them. What's that saying....Out of sight, out of mind?" Allison looked at the city a moment longer before going to grab a drink from the table. S

Alena let out a slightly forced smile when she heard they'd been together for about 17 years. Alena had forgotten that she left 17 years ago, and frankly seeing these two here didn't help her case at all. She felt all the emotions, all the memories that the past had brought her just by seeing these two. Alena was an independent woman who handled her business's a very civil and formal matter, which is why she remained to calm the whole entire time. She wasn't going to just throw away her hard work just because the two of them showed up. But if Lucy did try to do anything to upset that, then she would take matters into her own hand. This was the kind of side that the past brought her, and Alena hated her so much to the level where she needed to think about her job, and her son and all that she had worked for to get to where she was. Even if it meant 'leaving her family.' Alena had an insider back in America to tell her how her family was doing before she stopped doing that because she saw the pain that it had brought to her.

Alena had requested another drink from the waiter and he brought her another glass. Alena took a sip, "Well James, I am more than capable of taking care of myself and my child." Alena said as she brought the glass up to her lips but then brought it down slowly again when James said that he had no problem with her. "I never thought you did have a problem with me, James," Alena continued as she listened to him.

It was like he dropped a bombshell on Alena when he told her that she and he were related. "You and I, related? Now, Mr Porter, I have heard a lot over the years, but this is absurd." Alena said as she only spoke of his last name, Alena could feel as her tone of voice changed to a serious tone. Alena didn't want to be related to a man who wanted to see her father dead but killed her mother instead of in the heat of things alongside his partner in crime. Alena had never heard about her father having a sister, she never really did hear much of her father's side of the family all because of that stupid feud. Alena had seen how tightly Lucy was holding onto him, and she knew that Lucy was uncomfortable with the whole conversation. Alena could see that some things have not changed at all with that one. "Not directly? Well...I do not believe that the blood that was spilt on the 4th of September in 1948 was indirect." Alena said as she tilted her head just slightly. Alena took a step towards James and looked him in the eye, "I better hope that you have no business here, you and Mrs Porter. I really do not wish for the past to rekindle, and besides, London is too beautiful of a place to let anything bad happen, am I right?" Alena said as she took a step back and rested her arm on the bar. "On another note, have you and Mrs Porter have a little one running around?" Alena asked as her voice became a little lighter and less serious. Alena looked at Lucy and gave a slight smile to her mothers killer to show her that she could loosen up.

Oliver limped to the table to retrieve his drink, his typical dry scotch, and leaned there momentarily. He watched with interested eyes as he studied his sister and Harvey, their desires for one another almost cutting the air like a knife. He knew his presence was holding them back...

A line within a book I once read had always stuck with me. May love and revelation ride from the ashes of a dying civilization... Always found it fitting when I look down on London. God knows the shit hole it is...” Taking a sip of his scotch, the familiar burn in his throat gladly welcomed to calm his mind.

Harvey, I know you’re still weary of William Russell’s actions about this... Ghost casino. So you’ll manage that matter. I have to deal with more long-term business matters, and Allison will be taking a few of my clients as well. I hope that suits the two of you fine...?”

"Yes, related. Unfortunate, I agree," he remarked. "Vinnie's cousin, Rayna, lived in Italy for most of her life. It was a shock to me too. Mostly, because of what your father was," he assured her. He couldn't help but smirk when Alena suggested her mother's death was not indirect. He'd long since stopped feeling any remorse for that. "What is it your father would say? It's just business. It's a shame you lost your mother like it's a shame Vinnie murdered my father. Like how Vinnie had his psychopath, Angel, murder Lucy's father." James straightened out his jacket and sent Alena a nod. "I could go on and you'll be surprised how much changed in Chicago. My business is beyond that and your family now. There is nothing I could possibly want from you and nothing you could take from me," he said, with a slight smirk. "I'm just pleased to see you made it out of there and made a life for yourself," he genuinely assured her. As far as James was concerned, Alena had escaped the clutches of a dangerous madman and potentially made a honest living for herself. Whilst his business was more questionable and he'd never left the criminal underworld, he knew he was a man of mercy and fairness. It was all about mutual respect and as long as it remained in tact, James would remain civil.

James was pleased to see the Italian woman loosen up. Their interaction could have gone either way and being that his presence in the city was for business, his preference was to break the ice with Alena to make any future encounters less frosty. When Alena questioned them about their own family, James looked to Lucy and placed a kiss on her cheek. "We have little ones and not so little ones," James replied. Alena seemed closed about her son, so James would be equally closed about his family until she chose to open up more. "And when the nieces and nephews are visiting... Chaos," he added, feigning exhaustion.
