So, I'll start this off by saying that my knowledge of the FMA series is very limited, but a friend of mine years ago ran a RP group based around the series which was very fun, and well, I thought this up while playing it. A huge departure from the series seeing as it takes place waaaay after the show in a much changed and much more modern world.

A couple of people seemed to like the idea, however the group died before I could get this off the ground. So without further ado, this is the universe.

The year is 2001. The Chimera wars have long been consigned to the history books, the mighty Chimera warriors that fought in them all but extinct, either dying in combat, or of a slow painful death as their bodies rejected their alchemical modifications a few short years after the war.

However, a small number survive to this day, kept alive by the latest in medical technology to keep them as close to peak condition as possible, these battle hardened elite soldiers have been kept in reserve by various governments around the world for the time they would be needed again.

Given new identities, these Chimera live new, peaceful lives under the watchful eyes of their respective governments', hiding in plain sight until the call to arms is finally sounded once again.

That call has just been made; The Chimera are needed again.

A communist movement, born in Drachma has spread all throughout the Eastern world, its influence reaching across Drachma, Xing, Hunpora, and Aerugo, these nations allying and forming the Global Council of Socialist Powers. This vast superpower, with a large nuclear stockpile has attempted to capture privately owned oil fields in the resource rich Ishval to further their own gain, as well as frequently displaying shows of vast military force to the rest of the world, threatening them with nuclear fire and frequently boasting that they and their way of life are invincible.

The central powers of the world, Amestris, Creta, Dobuchia, Franconia, Estalia, and Albion have put aside their petty rivalries and come together in the face of this new world threat to form the Estraeu Union. While alone, none of these nations would have a hope in defending themselves in an armed confrontation with the GCSP, however, together, they stand a fighting chance of defending themselves against the red menace.

To the west, a new world superpower has arisen, Libertanis. A land raised from the sea by alchemists desperately trying to stay relevant in a changing technological world. These lands were quickly colonised by Albion, however, after a bloody revolution in the 1950's, they seperated from their original rulers and created a powerful nation, based on the principles of freedom and liberty for all.

Libertanis now has the largest standing army in the world. Ironically, they have turned back on their founding principals after a wave of paranoia gripped the nation following several terrorist attacks on important and historical monuments. In the wake of this turmoil, a far right fascist government has risen to power. They are now an unknown, a potentially huge threat sitting on a large nuclear stockpile with an even more bloated military spending budget than ever before.

To make matters worse, terrorist cells have struck worldwide, a group of alchemists known as "The Inner Circle", angered at how they are no longer seen as "relevant" and how their art is dying due to the advances in 3D printing technology and nanoconstruction techniques, ironically only possible with the help of the alchemists in the first place, have used their powers to wreak havoc on urban areas.

The world is a powder keg waiting to go off. Can you put out the fires before they consume the planet? Only time will tell.

And that's the intro text completed, so, here are the three classes you can play as in the world of Dark Apollo.

1. Chimera: You are a Chimera warrior dating back to the original Chimera wars kept alive for the exact sort of situation that has arisen today. Chimera start with one extra level to represent their combat experience. The Chimera's combat prowess comes from the ability to shapeshift, usually into a half human half animal form which is achieved by an alchemical process of primitive genetic manipulation. You as the player can choose what creature your Chimera is based on, their appearance in beast form as well as obviously their human form.

Abilities will be assigned to you depending on your decision of what creature you base your Chimera on, however, while a combat focused Chimera can be extremely deadly, they have more an emphasis on squad support abilities.

2. Gene Warrior: You are the latest and greatest in the development of elite super soldiers, the Gene Warrior. The Gene Warrior looks completely human, however your kind have made the Chimera all but obsolete with your advanced combat capabilities. You are one of the most deadly combatants on the battlefield.

Gene Warriors get powerful abilities mainly focused around raw combat situations. They are the heavy hitters and the tanks of your squad, however, they can be excellent in other situations depending on how you create your character.

3. Alchemist: You are an Alchemist, one of the last remaining in military service. While you are not as physically resiliant as your Chimera and Gene Warrior squadmates, you gain powerful abilities based on the manipulation of the elements. You can call forth the fury of nature herself to smite your foes, create cover, and many other useful skills.

Alchemists are somewhat of a glass cannon class. They have devastating abilities in both the supporting and offensive roles, however, they are just regular humans apart from their knowledge of the now dying alchemical arts.

And there you have it. I will post up a character template in due time if the interest is large enough, however, in the mean time, post up your character ideas if you have any and get back to me via PM, and I can walk you through character creation, discuss your ideas and plans, etc.

Whoa!! This is a very rich world you've come up with! There's a ton going on around here, and it really shows how much work you put into it. I'd love to join, but I think in order to make it more 'marketable' to other people, you'd have to parse down the storyline a bit to being a little more straightforward and the aims much more clear. Most people like a clear "minor" goal to start out with so that way everyone isn't running willy-nilly.

Otherwise, I'd be down to making a police officer or something, and it sounds like an awesome idea.

Well, the first few missions would be mostly counter terrorism, with things slowly ramping up until shit really hits the fan turning into the equivalent of world war three. The player characters are all part of a special forces team, probably should have made that more clear but you could still be former SWAT or whatever the FMA equivalent is. Also, you should really pick a class from one of the three. Not going to say you can't play as a normal human but you will most likely get your arse handed to you on a silver platter when things start getting real.
