mortals
Many eons ago, the god of fate who sat on the Korean pantheon of deities committed an atrocious sin. Not a sin against morality, but a sin against the laws of the universe. As deities, the Korean gods have the highest and most noble duty of being the front-line defenders of the constraints of the universe, and to dare defy them while holding such a position is an unforgivable offense. Therefore, his immortality, his title, and his existence were stolen away, and were passed along to a more worthy being that had risen up from the ranks of mortals.
Years later, it is the modern age. As always, gods have differing views of mortals and differing opinions of the world below them. Some turn their noses up at the sacks of meaty flesh and resign to stay in their heavenly spheres. Some traverse between the two domains, finding purpose and enjoyment in both. Some devote their lives to the earthen world, for whatever reason -- be it a desire to commit their lives towards assisting mortals, or be it a sheer disgust of the godly realm.
The present god of fate does the former, wandering the earth and giving his support to humans who have it in their measly little hearts to strive for a better world. He champions for the good in humanity, thrusting himself into their causes like those split seconds of eternity matter to someone of his centuries.
The goddess of emotions does not have such a purpose, but exist she does, and powerful she is. She is still a goddess, and her impact on the world is interwoven into every shallow breath, every stuttering heartbeat, every insignificant step that the mortals make. The power, the knowledge she has could tip the scales of the cosmos, like any other deity.
These two gods have interwoven pasts that have long been left behind. The world is ever-moving, and so are they. But the universe is a cycle, and the goddess realizes what point it is nearing again. She believes fate is fluid, and begins a crusade to change it.
But oh, we are fortune's fools -- subject to the relentless torrents of fate, shackled by the rigid laws of the cosmos. And when fate tumbles, so do we.

sang-je
supreme god of the universe uwu
as old as the universe itself | | ??? i doubt he fucks anyone :feelsbadman:
Is there any being more divine, any deity more representative of the heavens above? Created out of the very cosmic blossom that was the beginning of existence, Sang-je knows the burden of eternity all too well. Omniscient and frightfully powerful, it is only given that it’s this deity who is to become the overseer for all that occurs in the stretches of the convos, the conserver of order and the sentinel of balance. Those who roam the heavens are merely whispers of influence to Sang-je's power -- even they, the oh-so-powerful gods, know not to challenge the authority of this demiurge.
Sang-je is the representative of the laws of the cosmos, and is unrelenting in their upholding. A quiet specter of a being, his presence is written in stone and implicit as it is to breathe and exist. Strict and obsessively by-the-book, Sang-je is perhaps a more controversial figure than his tranquility suggests. Some believe his wisdom to be all-encompassing, their respect for him as lengthy as his existence. Others sneer at him, refusing to place their forefather on a pedestal. A select few even go as far as to hold a heavy disdain for him, his name causing thick, bitter bile to flood their senses.
Sang-je, for all his millenniums and power and insight, has a secret that he clutches tightly to his chest. He fools his subjects into thinking that his providence is what gives them power and life, but in reality, Sang-je cannot survive without the steadfast loyalty of the lesser deities in the godly pantheon. He is just as reliant on them as they are on him, and Sang-je knows he cannot let any word of it slip, for he does not doubt that a rebellion will rise against him.

seok-kun
deity of trickery
as old as the human race | | pansexual panromantic (strong male lean)
Lies lay in their nature, trickery in their blood. This god could make up every reality into a favorable situation for them, make everybody else guilty for every sin, even their own mistakes. Having abandoned the kingdom above after suffering a loss great enough to turn home into hell, Seok-kun has been roaming the earth doing what they do best: deception. They are depicted as one who takes no sides but their own, making them all the more favorable among those of equal moral ambiguity. But do not let this jester fool you with their cunning whims and wicked smile -- for it is often the sinful who become their prey. Even when it seems like this deity holds no qualms over lending their powers to those who favor vices over virtues, there are set boundaries that even they do not wish to cross. Beneath the joker smile and arbitrary persona, there is still a sliver of humanity the centuries haven’t eroded yet: a want to protect innocence (or maybe it is even something as damning as love that still lingers around despite having lost it themselves eons ago). So while they don’t bother themselves with cherry-picking those devoted, you will find no loyalty in them. They might grant you a boon regardless of your motives, but it is still to be decided whether or not you will find yourself in the same position as the tricked in the aftermath. They remain a true conman after all, and one with a special bone to pick with those abusive of power.
This deity is not the worst one to encounter, often acting playful at best and (seemingly) impartial at worst. A god who likes their chatter idle and easy, with just enough words to keep the attention captured, yet hidden meanings obscured. There’s a perpetual sense of mischief about him and his Cheshire smile; one where you know he must have an arsenal of tricks up his sleeves, and despite the unease that comes with it, you feel lulled into their orbit. A persona drenched in such casual confidence that it makes you wonder if it is all a façade, meaning to hide the inner woes and repel inquisition of the mind, or if it’s simply part of their deific schtick. Either way, be careful of those twinkling eyes and compelling verses -- for they are still a deity to behold, and with a treacherous nature to precede.

Ae-jeong
goddess of love
as old as love | | homosexual panromantic
Ae-jeong has existed since the moment humans began walking the Earth. Love is a fundamental, universal thing, and ever since people could love one another, Ae-jeong's continuance was a fact of life.
She's surprisingly childish, for one of many eons. Ever romantic, passionate, and idyllic about humanity, she is true to her domain. Her view of the mortals is affectionate, and she has spent most of her lifetime on Earth, never growing tired of the endless romantic stories she stumbles upon. Despite having existed for many multiples of Myeong-un's extensive lifetime, Ae-jeong seems like the youngest of the godly pantheon, and her idealism often overshadows her wisdom and rationalism. She can take fanciful ideas of love and run with them, without ever taking a step back to realize what a mess her fantasies can cause. Nonetheless, for all the consequences of her emotionally-charged self, she's one of the more pure gods on the pantheon by far. Endlessly loyal and kind, with a persona bright, cheerful, and warm like the sun, Ae-jeong has the most virtuous intentions. Even if she resorts to manipulation and underhanded tactics, her core hope is to make others happy and to show them the wondrous sensation that is love.

원우
go won-woo
leader of the resistance
26 years | | bisexual biromantic
Go Won-woo is a paragon of a man, and even gods are not immune to the honey-sweet charm of his character. Born as the first son in a politically high-ranking North Korean family, Won-woo was expected to fall into line and walk down the same, heavily-tread path that many other wealthy North Korean children took. But, of course, ever the exceptional, Won-woo took the knowledge and capabilities his privilege provided and chose to look beyond himself. He worked with a resistance movement under the guise of being a model citizen, risking his own neck for years before finally escaping to the south, leaving his family behind him. Now, he heads the resistance, making his passion his life's work and hoping to liberate those who are shackled by the North Korean regime.
Go Won-woo is the zenith of humankind -- a god among mortals. He draws the world in, charming them with his honorable intentions, his bleeding empathy, and his strive for the freedom and happiness of the less fortunate. Gods and mortals, the rich and the poor -- those who find themselves falling for his charm and warmth and open character are endless and unsegregated. It is no secret that Won-woo strings people along like a child picking flowers and scattering the petals to the wind, but it isn't like it's a bad thing ... right? Won-woo is pure and uncorrupt and kind and attentive.
But all men have their vices. Does it matter how far one can see if they can't even notice what lies underfoot as they dash to the edge of the universe? Does it matter how passionate, how fervent someone is, if they cannot even see those behind him who are being led to their demise? Should someone so blind to the little things, someone so blind to small mistakes and bigger consequences, be allowed to spearhead others into actualizing their visions, no matter how virtuous? Won-woo is the standstill between yes and no -- after all, how could one know whether the consequences outweigh the benefits until they see it play out?

jang ji-hyeon
(sus) resistance member
28 years | | heterosexual aromantic
A vessel of intelligence, though not one above theorizing the impossible. This woman holds her library of myths close to her soul, always scouring for further evidence to prove that they hold true. People might question the sanity with which Ji-hyeon tackles the different theories regarding the divine. It is, after all, rather odd to see someone with such a fact-based mind getting lost in a domain so contradicting. Ji-hyeon might very well be the first mortal who seeks the impossible as fervently as she does. The desire to prove the existence of deities is one thing, but to chase immortality itself is maddening. That doesn’t stop her from pursuing that path though, and nor does something as fickle as morals. The deal with a certain jester deity to bring down another in exchange for a boon shows that much. And even then, the hand of greed stretches further, loyalty praying the price this time. Ji-hyeon had not intended to become a mole when she joined the resistance, but when the dark side offers something so precious, who is she to resist? They say the line between brilliance and madness is often blurred, and it is perhaps not untrue to claim that Ji-hyeon is the height of both.
A dedicated study through and through. Passionate in ways that once something holds importance in her mind, there is little able to erode the vigor blazing inside her. Ji-hyeon is not a person of many words, tending to live her life in the reclusive bubble built for herself and her mind. Nevertheless, do not be fooled by her general disinterest in the matters of others, her eyes remaining ever watchful and ears always listening. There is not much information that sneaks past Ji-hyeon, being wickedly observant in her own rights. And despite holding a presence in the resistance, there’s a selfish tact to the speech and actions flowing from this woman. You might be able to trust her knowledge on certain matters, but trusting her to not throw you to the wolves in order to save her own skin is something different … here’s to hoping you’ll never find out.
원세
go won-se
the vengeful brother
17 years | | heterosexual heteroromantic
Destroy a bad man and you’re considered a hero, but destroy an innocent boy’s father and you will remain a villain in his eyes. In this case, the little boy has grown into a full-fledged teenager – though one with ages of suffering lining his hollow cheeks and dark circles under his eyes. But it hasn’t always been like that: a time of carefree and infinite happiness still existing in memory. The calculated shielding of his parents bore its fruits, Won-se passing through childhood with close to zero knowledge about the cruel circumstances most of the population had to suffer under. Even the sudden disappearance of his brother was unable to shatter that bubble of blissful ignorance he lived in, the fabricated image of his family holding sway. As far as Won-se was concerned, everything was perfect right until a woman with a smile too charming entered their lives. To others, this woman was a gift from the deities, exposing the wretched practices of the father, but to the boy, she was nothing but a hidden calamity, leaving nothing but ruin in her wake. Among the familial devastation, he was the sole survivor (or so he believes). The thing that keeps him alive? The burning for vengeance. Won-se might be a person who has lost everything, but it also gained him a purpose, and that’s all that matters.
He holds an intensity akin to the burning of a thousand suns. Won-se is one who grabs what he wants by the throat without letting go and who walks around pushing buttons just because he wants to. He has accepted that suffering is a part of life, though he has simultaneously decided that it is only fair that others experience the same amount as he did. Won-se holds himself to the theory that love is a weakness, so he doesn’t do that anymore, and instead inhibits such a bitterness that you feel uncomfortable just standing near. A ticking timebomb if you will, fuelled and blinded by hatred so deep it darkens his bones. A true lone wolf, though rather still a cub in ways that someone persuasive enough can whisper fake lullabies in his ears and he’ll consider it gospel. Yet, despite the anger and antagonism sparking off of him like fireworks, there still lies a young teen at his core, heartbroken and abandoned.
