"no more pomegranates!" - demeter
Everything had changed. In the past two years, she had gone from an everyday scavenger to using the Force. Never would she imagine that she would hold any importance to the Rebellion. Or to anyone. Now, she felt as if she wasn't alone. Yet at the same time, she had never felt so alone. So lost. It was the first time she actually had a few friends, but it felt as if there was something missing. Things were starting to look up for the rebellion, but she still felt incomplete. She was surrounded by good, by people who enjoyed her company and vice versa. So why did she feel so lost?

Never had she felt as at peace as she did now. Never had she felt as happy as she did now.

That didn't mean she didn't have her bursts of emotions. Of anger and hate. But Rey attempted to keep it in a nice balance. The best she could, at least. It didn't help seeing flashes of black robes around the corners of the base. Seeing glimpses of his figure at night. He continued to plague her long after Snoke's death. Some days, they were more connected than others. She would feel his surge of anger, of sadness. He would feel her sense of lonesome and fear. But she was always quick to close the connection when she felt it become too strong.

Perhaps she could use it to the advantage of the rebellion. Attempt to see past him. Attempt to find that light in him she found not so long ago. It was still there. She knew it was. But he was stubborn, and so was she. "They accept you as Supreme Leader." She commented when making sure she was by herself, standing alone in her quarters of the rebel base. General Leia was kind and made sure she received a proper bed which was nice after sleeping on rough surfaces for the past few years.

Would he ignore her? Or would he be curious enough to bite?

A slew of service workers buzzed meticulously about the hanger. Each ship was to be inspected, and repaired if needed. He liked to imagine that each of them had a list of things that they had to accomplish. That it was so easy, so organized. Every move they made was calculated and direct to avoid failure. If they failed at their task, they would no longer be a part of the First Order. It was simple, really. Perform, or be executed. There wasn't any room for error. It made Kylo very, very angry.
The pressed and ironed uniforms of every officer that walked these halls angered him. The sleek metallic interior, polished and cleaned to perfection- it angered him. The fact that he had been allowed to slip up so many times without reprimand or the loss of his life... it angered him. The precision of those damned service workers made him want to punch a hole through the glass he was observing them through.

After claiming the title of Supreme Leader, Kylo Ren had assumed that everything would fall into place precisely how he had wanted it to. There would no longer be any room for error on his part, and he liked that. It frustrated and confused him to no end that Snoke had allowed his precious apprentice to screw up, make a mess of things, throw fits, and the consequence wasn't anything more than a few strong words or a quip at his self-esteem. In his eyes, it reflected worse of Snoke than it did of himself. Never again.
As much as the precision that the First Order prided themselves in angered him, it now fueled him. He was determined to keep it that way.
Even if internally, everything was falling apart.

Kylo had been spending his days mulling over every little detail of the place. It was almost entirely useless, but it helped the time pass less painfully.
But, if he were being honest with himself, it was all a ruse. The countless hours of going over protocol, old databases, learning officers' names, it was all because of her. She had rejected him after he had given up everything he knew for her. He had killed Snoke, the one thing he thought brought meaning into his life. He wanted to help her, ease her troubled mind and make her one of the most powerful beings in the galaxy. She had rejected it all. It was the he had decided that The Force Order would succeed at their mission to destroy the Resistance, at all costs. He would see to it. He wanted to decimate everything she loved. But he couldn't hate her. That bothered the hell out of him too.

"...Supreme Leader." Rey's gentle voice rang in his ears. While trying to push her from every corner of his thoughts, she had consumed them. It was as if he could hear her...
He whipped around, half expecting the girl from Jakku to be standing on the metallic ground behind him. It wasn't entirely her, only a vision, but she was speaking to him. Reaching out to him after cutting him off from her back on Crait. The hair on the nape of his neck stood on end, his lips slightly agape in confusion and awe.
He didn't hesitate another moment to respond, so desperate for any kind of connection to her. You will join me. He thought bitterly. Or I will kill you with all the rest of those pitiful scum.

"It suits me," he replied matter-of-factly, his large dark eyes searching hers. It still bothered him that he wasn't able to see her surroundings... Did that mean she had more strength in the Force than he did? The thought bothered Kylo immensely.

"Suits you?" The girl repeated with a small tilt of her head. "Do they know you murdered Snoke? Or are they over-looking that little flaw in your leadership?" Perhaps she should have chosen another attack. After all, if he hadn't acted that way against Snoke, she would be dead. Nevertheless, she puffed out her chest slightly, a habit she noticed she did when staring at this man. As if she was attempting to size up to him, challenge him. Maybe she was. He had a certain stubbornness that had her wanting to show him up, to fight him against that stubbornness. It was frustratingly exasperating. Everything about him was frustrating.

Would he notice the sleepless nights she spent with him on her mind? Unable to shake the sight of his eyes boring into her's... How was one supposed to just drop all of that? How was she supposed to drop him when the mere thought of him sent filled her with such strong emotions? Emotions of hate and anger. Emotions of safety and balance.

Every sense of anger from him reflected onto her mood. Lately, she believed she was getting better at fighting it. She often wondered what he felt from her side of the Force bond they shared. Could he sense her emotions? The happiness she felt when she was talking with Finn, the peace she felt in the presence of General Organa. Did she do a good job of blocking him off when she wanted? So many questions, but there was no one to ask, no one who could even offer the right advice. This connection was something she was going to use to her advantage.

Despite her own interests, the role of Supreme Leader did suit him. Leadership suited him. From the rumors that circulated around, he was quite the change from Snoke. Every mistake that approached him, she could feel the rage. It couldn't be very healthy to have so much anger.

The rebel base wasn't anything special. It was a last resort, but it worked. Everyone had hope once again, ready to fight back. The First Order was just as toxic and violent as it was with Snoke. The change in leadership did nothing to change the effect the First Order had on the galaxy. Even if their leader was a lie who wanted to destroy everything his eyes set on. He was too dangerous. Unstable.

Her response, and the body language accompanying it, fueled even more rage inside of the man. It was bold of her to say given the circumstances of the event. Cringing, Kylo stepped closer to the apparition. It was times like these he desperately wished he hadn't destroyed that silly helmet. It was a useful tool for hiding the emotions that splayed out across his features.

"Flaw? I killed him for you," He had given so much...
He smirked ever so slightly at the uncertainty he felt radiating off of her. She wasn't confident in this connection, in appearing to him. He relished in that. He wanted to make her uncertain, to break her and bring her to his side.

Although he had worked diligently to erase Rey from his thoughts, it hardly did him justice. At the dark hours of the night, she would creep into his mind. Was she well? He would ponder. Memories of their fleeting moments of time together were play over and over like an old broken record. Aspirations of what could have become.

The First Order was still a formidable galactic force. They had recently recruited more Troopers to be trained in an effort to drastically increase the size of their army. They were working on increasing the size of their fleet, with better weapons and shield systems. They wouldn't be outsmarted.

"I trust you're doing well." His voice had softened, as had his expression. Everything bubbling inside of him was so exhausting, and besides, she had the ability to see right through any front he put up. There was no use trying to intimidate her. Compassion, was what he felt toward the girl. It threatened his angry mind, swallowing every bitter thought in its wake. It was its own kind of force.
