Vendalith, a world filled with wondrous magic and immense possibilities. Magical creatures of all shapes and sizes roam these lands, and some even rule! Within this world resides six Kingdoms; Ulenda, Hyrenia, Waeja, Comatlan, Glaressi, and Elarenna. Glaressi is a country whose magic is restricted to the element of wind, Elarenna is a country who controls the earth beneath everyone's feet, while Waeja controls the waters that everyone drinks and bathes in. On the other side of the world rests the peculiar Kingdom of Hyrenia whose magical abilities are either Light Magic, practiced by those called Eteanians, and Dark Magic practiced by the Telildians. Finally, Comatlan controls the very dangerous and unstable element of fire. It is both beautiful and chaotic, and Comatlan's abilities are revered, feared, or hated. Ulenda was a neutral kingdom that held the wondrous and incredible power of magic neutralization.
All six at one point lived together in peace and tranquility, but, as the magical abilities within the Kingdoms grew in power, some began to grow greedy. Coups and assassination attempts ran rampant in the Kingdoms in the early age, resulting in a war that would tear at everything asunder. The beginning of the war was over 250 years ago and the Kingdoms have been locked in a bloody battle since. It has been lovingly named: "The Eternal War".
However, during these years, alliances have been formed between the Kingdoms, while undying hatred blossoms between others.
If locked in this unbridled war, Vendalith would suffer and the world would be ripped to shreds.
As the darkest days grew near, and famine and drought tore at the countries, a neutral King who ruled the lands of Ulenda spoke up. He desired peace and would give an offer to the current Kings and Queens they could not refuse. A marriage. One arranged to properly connect each country and to begin a new wave of peace through their children. He had hoped to end this Eternal War and bring about the peace spoken of by the history books.
It was a shot in the dark, but everyone within the Kingdoms were growing weak and tired. Disease ran rampant and food was in short supply. Desperate, the Royals of each Kingdom agreed to this but they gave circumstances. They wanted to send hand-picked servants with their children to secure their safety. When the King of Ulenda agreed, they agreed to send their children over to the neutral territory and there they would spend their lives together until their wedding day. It was the King of Ulenda who hoped their living together would close the gaping wounds that separated each Kingdom.

Uℓєиdα (Nullification):
A neutral country who has the misfortune of being right in the middle of a waging war. By far, Ulenda has more resources and protection than the other Kingdoms, but, unlike the other Kingdoms Ulenda is alone in the fight. Without any allies or enemies, Ulenda is suspended by a small thread that threatens to snap and hurtle them into the chaos.
It is a small country in comparison to the others, but it's weather is lucky enough to experience all seasons within a year. The country is doing its best to sustain itself without attempting to trade with any of the feuding Kingdoms. Before the war, all nations traded with one another, currently, the one most affected by the cease of trade is Ulenda. Even though it is a neutral Kingdom, it has been fairing well in comparison to the others.
The creatures that roam the land are indigenous to the neighboring lands of Comatlan, and Hyrenia. Some of the Shadow Creatures from Hyrenia have been starting to make their way into Ulendan territory, and the localized police force are doing their best to contain them.
If this war does not end, it will spell death and doom for the land of Vendalith, and the King of Ulenda knows this.
But could he be after more than just peace...?

Gℓαяessi (Air):
Before the war, Glaressi was a nation of fun-loving citizens that soared above the clouds with their floating nation, located in the skies above Elarenna. They were a jovial people that delighted in visiting the forests beneath them and frequently visited Hyrenia’s casinos. Some might say they were an overindulgent people. What the landwalkers did not see was the caste system within the nation. Much of the populace of Glaressi possess wings of varying sizes, and as such, it’s natural that these wings have become a marker of their social standing. The longer and fuller the wings/wingspan, the higher on the social ladder one could be considered, and none of the citizens had greater wings than those belonging to the Royal Family of Glaressi.
When the war first began, the impact was not immediately felt by the airborne nation. As Comatlan invaded Elarenna though, the burning that plagued the lush green below delivered smoke and ash to Glaressi. Those with weaker constitutions were afflicted with disease and others found themselves robbed of the fresh air to which they were so accustomed. Pollution and tainted water are common within the nation since the war. The citizens have taken to walking on the terrestrial island rather than flight to move themselves about. In an attempt to clear their air and regain their culture, Glaressians have warred with the Comatlans alongside their allies. The Royal Family of Glaressi has played a pivotal role in the Glaressi warfront. Their large wingspans have allowed them to create powerful wing gusts- something not to be taken lightly in battle.
Allies: Elarenna and Waeja.
Enemies: Comatlan and Telildians
Neutral: Eteanians, and Ulenda
Elαrєnnα (Earth):
Nearly all of Elarenna was covered in thick forests before the war. The trees created a beautiful canopy that kept the weather warm and temporal. Naturally, many people sought the area out as a vacationing spot. Whole villages were built in the trees, and it was known for its extremely friendly “lesser races”- smaller, semi-intelligent creatures that could, to some extent, communicate with the citizens and visitors. A festival of some sort could be found several times every season, and Larennans were famed to be peacekeepers.
When the war came a few hundred years ago, it was unsurprising that the citizens would attempt to resist the notion. Elarenna refused to fight in the war for a great time, furthering their descent into fiscal devastation. When Comatlan started to burn their forests though, they had no choice in the matter. Many of the lesser races have disappeared from the nation since the beginning of the war and several have been wiped out entirely. In recent times, food has become more difficult to cultivate, causing famine within the kingdom. Amongst the various kingdoms, Elarenna suffers the most. In recent times, there has been a rift created between the citizens who wish for peace to return and those who demand retribution for all the blood that has been shed in their lands- amongst the latter includes much of the lesser races.
Allies: Glaressi and Eteanians
Enemies: Comatlan and Telildians
Neutral: Waeja and Ulenda
Wαєjα (Water):
A country that largely belongs under the surface of the ocean that surrounds the main island, much of Waeja belongs to amphibious races. The interior of their islands have relatively few living citizens as nearly everyone has preferred the beautiful beaches of the kingdom. The waters facing inland are clear and warm while the waters that seem to go on forever are choppy and full of the ocean’s bounty. Similarly to Glaressi, Waeja’s culture seems to have developed primarily on their unique living circumstances. Even if landwalkers could not visit the underwater cities, all were able to see the beautiful lights that lit up the ocean at night, and many couples preferred to have their weddings and honeymoons in the water nation. The Royal Family are noted for their unique ability to create ice from the water, and were known to create great structures during special times of the year.
Waeja was the last kingdom to feel Comatlan’s influence; however, a deal with Glaressi over water filtering had left them acutely aware of what the fire kingdom was doing. Purifying a certain amount of the water in Glaressi had started a light pollution that should never have put the oceans of the kingdom in such dire straits. The attacks from Comatlan, though, have caused a poison to appear within the oceans. Many of the fish have retreated to areas that even the water citizens are unable to reach, forcing them to rely on trades with Hyrenia in order to survive. Almost all the citizens have moved out of their underwater cities in order to live relatively disease free on the land. This includes the members of the Royal Family. The capital city- where the royals used to live- is now encased by a heavy ice, where citizens and the previous generation’s queen rest in stasis.
Allies: Eteanians and Glaressi
Enemies: Comatlan and Elarenna
Neutral: Ulenda, and Telildians
Hyrenia is a strange kingdom in that the whole nation never seems to sleep. The citizens are split into two distinct people: the Eteanians and the Telildians. While both peoples are one species or another of the fae race, the Eteanians are well known as weavers of light and the Telildians as mischief makers in the shadows. By and large, those one meets during the day are Eteanians and those one might glimpse at night are Telildians. Both groups enjoy their festivals and frivolity, and both peoples have their own royal family. In Hyrenia, the royal family and political affairs are run together between the two people, either queen or king being of Eteanian descent and vice versa. While king and queen are married together, each has their own family in order to maintain proper stock of Eteanian and Telildian virtue. The capital city where the two families reside is considered to be the most fun any adult will find in all of Vendalith, and is one of the few cities in the world where there is something going on at all hours.
When the war came to the world, Hyrenia did its best to project some semblance of neutrality. The kingdom has not, however, remained neutral in any amount. Although the king and queen seem to be blissfully unaware that each are aiding a different faction, the other nations seem quite aware of the strange treachery happening within the kingdom. The Telildians have been supporting the war efforts of the fire nation while the Eteanians have done their best to provide their aid to the likes of Elarenna and the other nations. More than any sort of combat in the lands from invading enemies, though, Hyrenia has suffered a great upbringing of shadow creatures, known only as Harbingers. Though the priestesses of Hyrenia have been known to cure nearly any ailment, the Harbingers have brought with them an incurable disease, scaring away a great deal of the kingdom’s business. Those that haven’t been scared away by the Harbingers will surely run across the sudden influx of bandits- people that seek to survive the war on their own terms.
Nalinna:
Allies: Comatlan
Enemies: Glaressi and Hyrenia.
Neutral: Waeja, Ulenda, and Eteania.
Hyrenia:
Allies: Elarenna and Waeja
Enemies: Comatlan and Nalinna
Neutral: Glaressi
Cσmαtℓan (Fire):
Well known as the antagonists of the war, Comatlan was not always a warring kingdom. They used to be renowned for their ability to manipulate fire, and the Fire Dancers would bring visitors from far and wide. If not the Fire Dancers, then it was the precious jewels and metals that were brought out from the earth. Although they were a desert people, Comatlans have not explored a great expanse of their lands. Past the Dragon’s Spine- a mountain range- many of the citizens have come to regard the vast desert to be a No Man’s Land. Those who do not value their life travel past this point, and absolutely no one that has traveled more than a day’s travel from the Dragon’s Spine have returned.
According to the Comatlans, the war was not the fault of their kingdom, but rather, it was the Larennans that began it all. Though Elarenna has denied any involvement, they had surely sent assassins to murder the king’s younger brother in cold blood. Retribution must be paid for the death of their precious royal, or at least that was how it all started out. Somewhere in the fighting, the motivation amongst the generals and even members of the Royal Family have come to want to take over pieces of the more fertile nations. Even now, as they move into the arrangements of Ulenda, there seems to be a rift within the Royal Family amongst those for and against the war.
