Audun the Fallen
a6066c1df78ef009ed3ecc1481f83547.jpg

Location: Frontierville - Town Plaza
Status: In Combat
Disposition: Slight Good
Interacting With: Kabboom Kabboom

As Audun tried to start a conversation with Maria, screams of panic and terror rang throughout the town. The sudden shift in the mood of the citizen indicated that if the attack wasn't already performed by the Darkborne, then there would be Darkborne soon enough."BEASTS! BEASTS! GUARDS, TO YOUR STATIONS!" A guard's cry for action drew Audun's attention to one section of the town walls as otherworldly screams confirmed his predictions of Darkborne. Suddenly, a herd of Hammergrazers smashed through the wall and began to run into the town. Following them were several dozen Darkborne. Seeing the Darkborn threat arise, Audun brandished his spear and spread his wings. With a mighty leap, he propelled hmself into the air and allowed his wings to glide him towards the breach. Not being able to truly fly was a hindrance that he had gotten used to, but the desire to be able to freely fly always remained. This was just another reason to become a Seraph again.

Audun landed in the middle of a group of Darkwolves, using Entropy on the ground to negate it's flexibility so that when he made contact with the ground, the now extremely brittle pavement exploded around him, killing a few Darkborne in the immediate vicinity and sending dust up into the air, blocking the line of sight of several nearby Runners. A sweep of his lance knocked back a charging Runner and a quick stab into the jaw of another instantly killed it. Slaying Darkwolves and Runners was a tedious task for the Nephilim. Their small size made them little more that annoyances rather than an actual threat to Audun. Besides they provide no challenge. They have little strength and cunning that can easily be matched by a child. These beasts would not satisfy Audun's desire for a good fight, but being able to protect the innocent and the promise of redemption was enough for now.

Audun continued to stab Darkwolves and Runners as he advanced towards the shattered section of the wall. When looked back, he was that he was well ahead of the Imperial forces. As strong as Audun was, he was slowly being overwhelmed by the horde of Darkborne, especially when his spear was not meant for cleaving through hordes. He stopped to hold his position and considered drawing Harmonious Discord. He decided that no one would know what his sword's form would say about his character and placed his hand on the sword wrapped in a leather bag strapped to his back. As he pulled it out, it was in it's Holy form, pulsing with energy and crackling with electricity. His decision to put himself in front of danger for the sake of others was a selfless act that had changed his current disposition to good. Audun grinned under his helmet and let out a slash that easily disintegrated 10 Runners coming towards him. The Imperial soldiers were slowly making their way to Audun's position, and as they got near, Audun used Equilibrium to grant the approaching soldiers his skill with a spear. A benefit few will notice, but will definitely save many. He could've given them his strength or durability, but it would only give the Darkborne the same properties, so a skill they couldn't apply would be the best bet.

Pryonn & Kaatl

Terra's metallic retribution came quickly, the sudden impact of her crystal-turned-beatstick upon his helmet causing more discomfort than pain. Unimpeded by such, indeed emboldened by her apparent lack of verbal rejection, Pryonn instead commented with joy "Don't lessen yourself in title before me, Damsel-Dearest! Not a mere girl from any thief-guild you are to me, but hallowed Queen of my captive heart!"

Kaatl carefully stroked the side of Pryonn's helmet that had been struck by Terra, the fairy throwing the incruscan an uncertain look. Pryonn had brought that slap upon himself, yet Lyons hadn't outright denied the young knight either, apparently. But the incruscan woman's demeanor continued to puzzle the fairy.

Rising from his supplication, the knight walked back to retrieve his banner as he continued in answer "And indeed, Pryonn Kharn am I! Knight wherever evil's nigh! Fairy Kaatl and Sir Pryonn, duo of grand goodness! If you are the one assigned to me, then doubly-blessed we certainly are!" Grasping his banner-lance, the young Guardian raised the tattered flag up high in salute to Terra "For you see, with his Lady beside him so to stand, a knight can do quite anything! Grasp moonlight in his hands, outfly the bird upon the wing!"

He continued to speak joyousely even as the darkness crept. He went silent only - stopping in his tracks - when the rumbling, trampling and tearing of wood and stone announced the sudden arrival of the darkborne.

"Ah. Here they are already, are they..." he muttered, careless joy momentarily giving way to melancholy resignation, while the fairy on his shoulder looked upon the splintering buildings and pouring horde with worry. Guardians Jericho, Maria and many more rallied the troops, hastily establishing a defensive parameter even as the village's walls gave threatening groans of exertion.

Already several of the darkborne fiends, walkers and wolves came for them whilst the hulking beasts of burden rampaged further off.

Giving a hearty chuckle, the knight forced his spirits up again as he looked back to Terra "I shall be your shield, I shall be your helping hand! Feel free to slaughter whatever comes into your sight, I will be your aiding knight!" Lance in one hand, flail in the other, the Guardian beckoned the incoming foes towards himself with raised banner even as he asked Terra one last question "Say, leonine maiden, do you know the privilege of any knight, far and wide?"

Terra sighed as she seemed dissapointed, especially since her rocky acquaintance left her so she could fight. She took a hold of one of the long sword hilts in one hand and a light crystal in the other. "Listen, Pryonn.. Let's get a few things straight. Don't call me maiden... The name is Terra." she said annoyed as she placed the crystal in the hilt.

"Secondly, saying a woman is trying to lessen herself in title is pretty rude. And lastly... I was trained by the Knight Somber... Well, ex-knight." She said this as her long sword grew with light. She slashed one darling open with a clean slice as she stood to Pryonn's back. "Oh, one more thing... Flattery doesn't get you everything." she said as she prepared to get her short swords out.

It wasn't the fact that she disliked the company of the cultist, though strange he most certainly was, it was more that her current attention was stolen by a horde of Darkborn and panicking Hammergrazers that were now ploughing their way through the plaza. Houses and structures fell like dominos upon their collision - nothing was safe. Waving the cultist off, she gestured to him to help deal with the combat, but then grew frustrated at herself for the confusing mess of hand gestures possibly no one would understand.

'He's not going to understand anything I try to say at this rate!' she thought in frustration. 'I need to communicate though, so he understands why I have to leave him here.'

Eevie whipped out some parchment, and conveyed her message quickly, her writing was scrawled messily with many ink splatters smudging a few words, yet it was still legible if one could read common tongue. 'Frontierville is in danger. Help eradicate the darkborn and call me if you need assistance. my name is Eevie.' She shoved the parchment into this chest, not even waiting for him to take hold of it before she run towards the creatures that filed in.

As she ran, the Dullahan girl shoved her supplies back into her satchel and took out her whip; her aim was to protect the civilians. Pivoting on her left foot, she extended her arm, thrusting her whip forwards, the bone whip crackled loudly as it wrapped around one of the hounds. Yanking her arm back, the creature yelp as it was pulled off its feet by force into the air. As the whip released it, Eevie quickly pressed the rune on the hilt of the whip and thrashed it once in the air, locking the joints. The whip straightened stiffly into a naginata, and she brought the blade-end down upon the creature.

Leaping over the corpse, the dullahan propelled herself toward innocent cries for help. She felt nauseous, sickly as if bile was rising in her throat, though she knew that it wasn't simply the case. That sensation was words - names - and once her lips parted, she couldn't bare to prolong their suffering. With mercy, the Dullahan began to softly speak the names, calling death to take those who were due to die this night.

To explain, this is no ability of a Dullahan, but a natural occurrence when they speak. They must only ever speak a name, and that name must only ever belong to that who is about to die. They are an omen, a harbinger or death, but not a grim reaper who takes away one's soul - a mere vessel of who's job it is to announce the death to deliver those listed to death as fate had decided. To put it simply, a Dullahan cannot speak unless it is for this purpose - they cannot will their vocal chords to produce the sound willingly, no matter what.

Eevie tried to force her way through the fight, muttering names under breath as they came - there weren't many, however, which was either a concern or a relief depending on how the others clung to their lives. The influx of foes prevented her from gaining any significant distance towards the civilians she heard crying in the dark. Still, she pushed on, her naginata slicing at foes, blood spraying across her armour, and a dim light radiating around her in a orb at slowly healed any damage she gained from an attack she failed to dodge. She wasn't terrible at dodging though, so for the most part, it was unnecessary.

'Alright, almost there - though seriously, what the heck is going on here...?' Eevie thought, her eyes scanning the area for a sign of how all this was even possible. Who could really blame her though? She doubted severely that anyone though 'yes, lets go to Frontierville and get attack today for funsies!' unless somehow she was out of the loop and this was the plan all along. 'Hey, idiot, this isn't fun at all. Death isn't fun-- WHO IN THERE RIGHT MIND IS HAVING FUN RIGHT NOW?!'

"Town?"

A giant, at least based from his height and stature, suddenly approached Erik's position. For a moment, Erik wondered if he should shoot him down or attempt to flee but both options carried their own problems with them. As to avoid further inquiries, he opted to just act as disinterested as he can, never taking his eye off his carving.

"This is Frontierville. Pretty much nowhere's nowhere. You'd find better cheer in a countryside graveyard than this old place." Erik gives his standard run-of-the-mill opinion on things, never once giving his name nor glancing at the giant's direction. He just kept on working at what he's currently doing.

Conveniently enough, the warning bells resounded across the sleepy village, signifying a call to arms, followed by soldiers and militia rushing out. The leaves around the forests rustled and with his trained eyes, Erik caught glimpse of the dark creatures making their way inbound. Disregarding the giant, Erik immediately gathers his equipment and started to leap across the trees, heading for one with a better field of view and vantage point. Having settled on an old oak with sturdy branches and thick vegetation, he crouched down low to observe, keeping his bow at the ready, deciding whether to strike or not.

Tharek Mortaghen

“This is Frontierville. Pretty much nowhere's nowhere. You'd find better cheer in a countryside graveyard than this old place.”

Tharek flicked a quick look up at the man in the tree, studying him with muted interest. He was short in stature, much like Bodhi had been, and scarcely bothered to even meet his gaze. Perhaps it was just as well. Places like Frontiersville did not always attract the friendliest of folk. Better to keep to oneself than nose in.

Nodding mutely after a moment, the giant turned and started towards the gates in front of him. He barely made it two steps, however, before he heard another sound. A low gutteral growling that made a cold shiver arc up his spine. Slowly, he turned and looked behind him, back up the ravine he had descended from, to where the houses dotted the hills in speckles of white and grey.

There, standing exactly where he had been only just minutes prior was a dog – no, that did not even do the monster justice. It was massive, a ghastly spector cloaked in black, slaver dripping from its oversized jaws and onto the ground. There was a ripple of soft movement behind it as a second beast appeared. Then another appeared. And another.

Bells of alarm began to toll in the city behind him. Shadows fell, gradually at first, but then rapidly. When Tharek raised his head to look, he could see the last flickers of sunlight disappear as the once bright day fell into total eclipse. Soon, it was so dark, it was nearly impossible to see his own hands in front of his face.

Not good.

Sensing the danger of someone as large as himself being caught out in the open, Tharek turned and made a dash for the gates. To his surprise, however, his rush was checked by a throng of terrified civilians running for their lives. He opened his mouth to warn them, to tell them of threat lurking in the piercing wall of blackness behind him, but before he could so much as move, the giant saw the rear of the line disappear under a mass of snarling bodies.

“They’re inside the gates!” someone shouted. A watchman high up in his tower was still shrieking "BEASTS! BEASTS! GUARDS, TO YOUR STATIONS!"

Tharek lowered the point of his sword and used it to pick his way alongside the outerwall, keeping his back against it to keep himself from being surrounded, squinting all the while to pick out the bodies against the flashes of magic and terror. He had barely made it half way towards the plaza when the first one lunged at him from out of a narrow alleyway, its eyes glowing blood-red with menace. Tharek responded with a roar and brought his claymore down on the beast.

Once. Twice. A third time.

Finally, there was an audible crunch! as the edge of his sword plunged into the back of the Darkwolf’s skull. Assuming it to be dead, the giant stood over it, planted his foot on the beast’s mandible, and heaved with all his might. His sword slid free, a dripping black sludge of liquid dripping along the blade’s edge.

“Not my fucking sword, you don't,” he growled to himself, bending to wipe the point off in the grass. But just as he managed to get the point clean to his satisfaction, a cry of mangled fury rang out behind him. Turning, he took his sword into two hands and raised it to strike just in time to see another shadow come bounding at him from out of the night.

Esta
Esta watched with wide eyes as a man with wings drew away the Darkborne surrounding her. Snapping herself out of her weary position, she swung a blade at the Runner in front of her, feeling a meaty smack as her sword collided with its neck. The crude helmet of the Runner thumped to the ground, with the head still inside. Seeing the flow of Dark forces stream towards the man, she sprinted to the back of the group.

Her swords flashed in the light as she sliced through two Darkwolf legs, spurts of blood hitting her in the face and chest.
Finally fighting her way to the Incruscan's side, she glanced up at him. "Thanks for helping me," she yelled through the noise of the battle whilst stabbing a goblin through the neck. "I'm guessing that you're a Guardian?"

Not waiting for an answer, Esta dropped to a knee and threw a glittering needle at a Darkwolf, piercing the beast twice, straight through the eyes. The metal dart went cleanly through, then returned to the druid's hand. The creature toppled to the ground, dark blood exiting its twitching body in fountains. Esta swiped a sleeve over her cheek, only successfully smearing the gore further over her face. She grunted in annoyance as yet another goblin took the place of the last, which lay on the ground, beheaded. Would this battle ever end?

Jericho
Within the first instance of them clashing against the Darkborne ranks, some of the men went down right away, obliterated by precise bites to the neck and head. Jericho, with his Clarity aura, and his Experience Drip, keeps the remaining men alive, giving them no incentive to run away in fear, for they are fear incarnate, and giving them the means to kill, so that they shall know no fear. Audaton begins to slip, however, a few droplets of blood running down from his nostrils as he flicks his halberd aside, throwing off an impaled Runner from his spiked tip. Using his momentum, he swung it further, slicing the upper jaw clean off of a Darkwolf that was intending to tackle one of his guardsmen from behind.

His Light energy shining ever so bright, even amidst his comrades, the Darkborne focused their attacks on the man, thankfully saving the lives of the men around him. Being a Guardian, he was a virtual Dark magnet, blocking a Runner's charge with his halberd, before swinging over to fatally stab another pouncing Runner in its chest, before letting his Halberd fall down a bit before swinging it back, hitting a Darkwolf charging head-on in its side, ending its terrifying snarls with a high-pitched whimper, as it is thrown to the side. But on the Darkborne come.

Suddenly, a small figure jumped up behind his back, banging some sort of solid object repeatedly against the back of his helmet. Dazed and disoriented, Jericho begun to retreat to a more defensive stance, barely resisting pounces and leaps from the Darkwolves, before said creature was smacked off, or rather, cut off from his back by a guardsman comrade. Jericho had a split second to turn around and look at his failed assailant, a simple Gobletyn wielding a crooked rock, before maneuvering his halberd just in time to spear a Runner right through the mouth, as it charged headlong directly at him.

As the guardsmen move up, some struggling their best to form a shield barrier, Jericho takes a brief look around with the small amount of freedom he had. The Darkborne had struck deeper than previously thought, with Runners beginning to pounce up the walls, and dragging Imperial gunmen down with their sharp fangs, sending the poor men screaming as they fall to their deaths, their death throes pulling on Jericho's heart painfully. The civilians are running in terror, and some had failed to escape in time, either being mauled or devoured by Darkborne, or beaten by a small marauding Gobletyn band who had taken advantage of the chaos to sneak in and raid the settlement to their dark hearts' desires. Atop the walls, the Lightshell artillerymen begin to fire off salvos, directed into the settlement itself, with two cannons managing to take down a Hammergrazer, blowing one of its bony growths clean off, showering the terrace with blood as its legs fail beneath it, and sends the beast crumbling down, crushing a Runner or two.

Jericho turned around, and saw his "comrades", the ones that he would apparently fight alongside in the quest to come: powerful and peculiar individuals, all seemingly having powers way better and cooler than his own. Paying it almost no attention, he pivoted his attention to the town hall; a Captain, coordinating his defenses in vain, by barking orders at men who were beginning to falter, whilst simultaneously begging for reinforcements on his Lightvoxer, and Maria. Maria. Yes, Maria! The girl has extensive experience commanding troops, and right now, she would arguably be the most pivotal character in this climactic opera of death.

Unsheathing his gun, Dante, Jericho quickly pointed it at a Gobletyn with a short bow and arrow, preparing to slay the Captain. With a quick yet soft trigger pull, the insides of its head bursts open, throwing its entire body forward, and smacking down onto the terrace, dead. His vocal chords now aching, Jericho forces it one more time to yell for him. "Command them! Get them in order! Maria! Command!" was all he managed, before turning back to the situation at hand, and spearing a Runner in the eye, releasing its carcass from the front face of a guardsman's shield. In the distance, a sinister roar can be heard...

Leafa

"Please stay close to me, we are going to the big building in the center with the ladybug."

The young elf was excited to see the ladybug up close, although she didn't understood why she had to stay close to Yellow hair, they were just going to see the ladybug, she safely dropped from the tall tree and followed him to the center of the village. As they made their way there she noticed Yellow hair impaling some dogs with his spear, she was a little scared at the moment, but quickly forgot about it.

When they finally arrived at the city, Leafa was scared of the commotion "Uhm... Yellow hair... I thought we were going to see ladybug? I'm scared... Those doggies, they are just like the ones that-" Before she could finish her sentence, Leafa caught sight of the ladybug, "Ooo ladybug! What are you doing near that doggie? Come here please! Hey what are you... HEY!". Before she could do a thing the ladybug was quickly devoured by the Darkwolf, "LADYBUG! YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS DOGGIE!", enraged, Leafa grabbed and arrow and shot it into the air, without thinking twice. The arrow, that by normal means would never have hit the Darkwolf, somehow managed to strike it.

"Yeah! 1-0 to Leafa! Uh wait a second, it's still alive? I must have forgotten the poison!", the Darkwolf quickly turned to Leafa, it's eyes were engulfed with rage and fury, it charged with full force and pinned the girl down, unable to move Leafa screamed for help,"YELLOW HAIR! HELP!".

"Indeed." Gon'gon said, while impaling a dark wolf, but then, another darkborne bite him in the left shoulder, hurting him, at this, the near elementals went rampant, killing darkborne by the dozens, but out of the 8 elementals he had, only 3 left.

3 goblins and 4 dark wolves rushed at the fire elemental, the elemental defended itself, but they were too many, the elemental grabbed a goblin and burned it until there was nothing but a black, humanoid figure, and stomped 3 dark wolves, one after another, until it finally it finally was stabbed in the head by a goblin, 2 goblins and 1 dark wolf survived the fight, and were rushing towards Gon'gon, but soon fall dead, stabbed in the heads by humming wind arrows.

"This don't look good, how many until the evacuation is completed!" he yelled to a imperial soldier, but before it could answer, dark wolves were feasting in his flesh.

Heard the screams of a girl, he turned to see a little elf, with a dark wolf on top of her. He hurled a fast ice ball to the darkborne on top of the elf, freezing it's mouth open, then, it falled death, due to a wind arrow penetrating it skull.

"I can't keep up like this." he said, looking tired, and wounded, "You will be okay alone?" he told to the snake woman.

Maria
The yelling of the old sergeant was followed by the sounds of men barking orders; Stomping noises as soldiers marched onto the walls and to their posts. Without a moment to waste, Maria secured the cuirass covering most of her torso over some chainmail, picked up her bardiche nearby and joined her supposed 'comrades' in the defence of the settlement. Speaking of her comrades, she had yet to discover what the mage could do, but Jericho seemed to be all fine by himself, already letting out an impressive battle-cry, shadowing even that of a feral beast. On her part, Maria figured it was about time she shows them what she could do.

Despite taken by surprise, the Frontierville garrison quickly organised a rugged defence. Light-shells went off outside and inside the settlement itself, as some cannon crew started turning the guns around to target the panicked Hammergrazers rampaging across the town, trampling beasts and men alike. Two guns managed land a couple hits on one of them, and as the shells let off a blinding light upon contact, the street was painted in the creature's blood and flesh. Back at the plaza, where Maria and her group remained, Jericho was trying his best to keep the troops' morale and cohesion high. They formed a shield wall with swordsmen and axe-wielders, fending off against the ferocious Runners and Darkwolves, with some success.

Garrison troops were still rushing out of the barracks in flocks, seeking to join the shield-wall rallied facing directly at the gap in the wall. However, doing so while the line is constantly under the raged harassment of the beasts wasn't a scroll in the park. A Darkwolf caught one of the swordsmen outside of the formation. The young man was no older than 18. The beast's sudden charge was successfully blocked his shield with a lucky move, but its strength forced the man onto the ground, his blade knocked from his hand. Maria witnessed this, and she wasn't going to stand there. Feeling a surge of power in her every muscle, the bardiche-wielding Guardian swung her left arm to the right, in an act resembling the pulling of a rope. Immediately, the Darkwolf, like a cattle tied to the rope, responded. It was flung towards Maria at an intense speed. With both her hands now gripping onto her bardiche, Maria slashed the creature diagonally, tearing its neck and nearly cutting its head off clean. The creature's corpse was then met with the gravity field summoned around her. On contact, the wolf's head snapped away from its lifeless body, landing onto the ground by her feet.

Turning away from the young soldier, who was slowly recovering and making his way to join his comrades, Maria's eyes met the wall. Jericho had noticed the same thing she had: troops were losing cohesion, especially on the wall. He called out to her:

"Command them! Get them in order! Maria! Command!"

The beasts were attempting to scale the wall, and as they reached the top, they quickly outnumbered and slaughtered the courageous musketeers and artillery crew who put up resistance. Some less-courageous were shying away, but still mounted their bayonets and fought as the Darkbornes approached. Some cowards were running. Some fled to other portions of the wall, some down onto the street, running into the shieldwall formation Jericho and these bravemen so desperately struggling to hold. Maria could not allow a few cowards to rout the whole formation, as a former military commander, she simply could not, nor could she find sympathy in her heart for deserters. Grabbing a musket from a fallen man, she took aim, and fired at the closest deserter she could spot amidst the chaos. As the fog cleared out, the routing guardsman was on his knees, before collapsing onto the cold dirt, lifelessly. The other deserters saw this. Being stuck between their ally's rifles and the beasts, they hesitated, before turning themselves back to the wall.

Her action caught the attention of some soldiers in the shield-wall, the mage and Jericho, who was giving her looks, but she paid them no mind. They can talk later, after this. Maria knew she had done them good turning those deserters around. Giving Jericho a nod, regarding his request earlier, Maria dashed her way towards the plaza, where an old captain was having a heated argument on a Lightvoxer regarding reinforcement. He stopped every now and then to bark orders furiously at the confused soldiers. She intended to do the poor man a favour.

As she closed in on a group of soldiers, who only just finished with their gear, Maria stomped her bardiche onto the ground, and presented them clear instruction.

"The beasts are attempting to storm the wall, and you are going to stop them! Reinforce your comrades, glory is out there! March!"

She paused as they begun making their way to the defence, before making her way towards the captain, who was looking up at her, the Lightvoxer rested on the table by his side.

"Fort Vainlight answered the call." He said in a tired voice, as expected from yelling orders nonstop. "Their chaplain and a cavalry detachment is already on the way, we just need to hang on . . ."

"And we will, Captain." Placing her hands on the short old man's broad shoulders, she continued. "Your men will need you. Lead them to victory, Sir."

As she headed to the wall with the soldiers, she caught her comrades' attention on the street. Maria yelled at them.

"Reinforcement is on the way, hang on!" She hoped that would give them some hope.

"Eevie, wait! I can assist you!" The cultist shouted while attempting to follow The Dullahan, but was stopped by a group of Goblins, they were eight in total, and three of them were armed with crossbows while the rest of them had simple clubs, the melee goblins were a bit hesitant on approaching the cultist, thanks to his eldritch aura. But the archers just looked at the cultist with eyes full of greed, clearly inspecting the ornate book, that Miska had strapped to his waist. This gave Miska enough time to withdraw his baton and quickly strike the closest goblin, then retreat back a bit, so he could place some distance between himself and the goblins.

The Cultist was in need of some assistance, the knight was too busy to save his sorry rump, so he began chanting in his Eldritch Tongue, and the air around him began to fill with the smell of salt and rotten fish, as a rift began to open where he once stood. The Goblins could hear the sound of metal tapping against stone coming from the rift, one of the goblins moved close to the now fully opened portal, and was about to poke it but then was stopped from doing so by the sudden addition of a trident making itself in his chest.

"FOR THE MOTHER!" Leaping after the trident was a small fish like humanoid wearing a pirate hat, who landed upon the now still corpse of the goblin, also emerging from the portal was a small army consisting of 25 Deep Ones, all armed with spears, clubs, or the occasional combo of a net and a club. The first Deep One pulled out his Trident "CHARGE!"he commanded his brethren.

Miska joined up with the commanding Deep One, "It's good to see you, Stink Breath" Miska said with genuine gratitude, Stink Breath turned to the cultist and gave him the closest a proximation to a smile "Stink Breath Happy, see Boss, What do I now?" "Protect the town, help anyone whose fighting the goblins, darkwolves, or runners" Miska made sure to point to Eevie so that Stink Breath could better understand his command, he smiled and gave his boss a salute before running off to fight with his brothers.

Miska leaned against a wall for support, opening such huge portal took a lot out of him, he needs a moment to catch his breath

Anna Eadburg

The village is littered with destruction, gore and carnage. Red, grey and black are the new colors of what was once a bright settlement, which has now become the stage of a large scale assault.

The air which would normally be rich in scents of food, fresh fish and new brews is now filled with the smell of burning wood and flesh. The beautiful harmony of sound in the once busy city is now replaced by the deafening loud sounds of explosions and howls, which drown the horrific screams of the people, enough to make even the bravest tremble in fear.

The wounded lay in large groups across the village and the streets are filled with panicked civilians trying to flee from danger and armed guards desperately trying to both evacuate the citizens and barricade the key streets, in an attempt to stop the invading dark threat.

Anna was sitting in the middle of the street, trying to comprehend what was happening. “How could they smash the walls?” She thought to herself. A few more moments of thinking and she decided on the best course of action. The foul demons were invading a domain of The Light, so they had to be purged.
With a swift movement, she unwrapped the cloth around her Holy Weapon, revealing the holy glow of the Cross. The radiant Light energies immediately started attracting the foul creatures of the dark towards Anna, who was standing in the middle of the road, staring into nothingness.
As the beasts were charging, Anna turned a hidden lever, making the cross crackle with mechanical sounds, shifting to reveal the barrel of a large and imposing canon at the bottom. She proceeded to point it, not towards her enemies, but towards the ground.

"Father, forgive me for this, but-DIE YOU FUCKERS!!" and with that, she pulled another lever. The cannon boomed as it propelled the massive cross forward, leaving a large, scorched hole in the ground as it did so. The holy relic howled in the air, spinning aggressively towards an unfortunate pack of Darkwolves. The vile creatures howled in pain as their bodies were smashed and torn by 2 tons of raging holy Retribution.

Anna then proceeded to unsheathe her two swords -curved and ornate– they had holy chants in the Name of The Light inscribed in them:
“Light shall burn,
Light shall cleanse,
Light shall purge,
And all shall repent!”

She was now eyeing the Demon on the other end of the street. The creature was staring right back at her, growling as it started running towards her, the desire to kill burning into it’s eyes.

Anna’s face suddenly became stone-like, hands firmly grasping her swords. In a swift and extremely agile move, Anna's sword arcs towards her foe's head in a menacing manner. Surprise suddenly flashes in the beast's eyes as the sword slices cleanly through the skin and breaks the skull with a sickening crack. The Darkborne's eyes then grow hazy as it’s lifeless body slumps to the ground.

Anna proceeded on her rampage, slicing and smashing the foul Demons in her path with divine fury. But what was most frightening about this sight was not the fact that she kept throwing a giant cross around, smashing groups of monsters and sometimes buildings with it, nor the emotionless expression on the white-haired woman’s face. No, what was most frightening was the fact that she was chanting while doing all this, chants that monks repeat everyday in their Monasteries, holy chants now used in battle:

"Demons of the dark hath appeared before thy children of Light
No more did the Old Gods whisper into thine ear
The Flame of Light shall guide my blow
And in its wake thy shall tremble in my righteousness.
Now fall, and begone!“

Margot, Main Plaza

Margot was about to be very surprised by the paladin entering the plaza and talking to the woman, that helped her with guards and calling her ‘princess’ for some reason, but the fate had other plans.

"BEASTS! BEASTS! GUARDS, TO YOUR STATIONS!" the scream coming from the walls made Margot strengthen her grip on Leo’s tiny body as she turned her head in the direction of walls. Already she could feel waves of panic radiating through Network.

On her hands. Leo suddenly started crying, also sensing the danger.

“Ssh,” Margot lowered her head and placed a gentle kiss on his forehead. Sorceress’ lips left a delicate mark on the skin, that radiated with magic. “Soi‘prece, ma pan.”

‘Sleep well, my dear’. With words of spell, little Incruscan’s eyes became hazed, and he quickly fallen into a magical sleep. Margot wrapped boy in a blanket from her backpack and put him into the bag on her left side, even though it seemed physically impossible for a little boy to fit into it.

Then, she raised her hand and drew a glyph in the air, letting it fill her body with magic. She took a deep breath, drawing strength from the Network.

“Sun o’paht!” With these words, magician jumped from the ground and flew into the air, her eyes darting around, trying to get a hold of events in the Frontierville. The Darkborne broke through walls and they were flooding into the city, slaughtering the residents and quickly approaching plaza. Many Guardians had already been fighting them and she couldn’t let them do it alone.

In a brief time it took her to stabilize the flight spell, the horde of Darkwolves attacked the guards under her. Normally they would stand no chance against them, but with magic of the Guardian who helped her earlier, men were able to remain calm and fight the Darkborne efficiently.

“What I would give for this man’s talents back in Ratthe,” Margot murmured under her nose, as her fingers quickly formed a Circle of Air. Magic shimmered in her palms, opposing hastily crafted spell, but sorceress didn’t have time for proper spellcasting. Every second of delay costed lives under her feet.

She lowered her hand and shouted:

“Nathal! Yoer tun ma!”

Air around mage moved violently, jerking her cape and hair, as the gust of wind hit the horde of Darkborne with the power of hurricane, throwing them away from the soldiers on plaza. While it has saved them from the charge for now, the gust of air also snatched away some of their shields and made few guards stumble.

‘Can’t do shit ‘bout that.’ Margot apologised them in her thoughts briefly, already too concentrated on the next spell. This time, the Circle of Fire formed before her. Woman’s left hand formed the spell, as her right palm dived into the bag and took out a piece of charcoal. ‘Light, am I happy I didn’t have to use that earlier. I owe those two a dinner.’

Margot raised her hand with a brown clump and put it before the Circle. She looked at the pile of Darkwolves that her previous spell gathered at the edge of plaza. They were already shaking off the confusion of being thrown around by wind and were about to start attacking again.

“Kona o’Drakan!” Charcoal started burning in Margot’s hand and she pushed it through the Circle. A stream of hellish fire shot out from her palm, incinerating the Darkborne under her.

Margot hissed from pain. Her rushed spell burnt tips of her fingers, but she didn’t have time to care about that right now.

"Command them! Get them in order! Maria! Command!"

The Guardian, who helped her earlier was shouting at the woman, who started the fight with soldiers before.

‘Wait, Maria?” Margot took a second look at the aristocratic looking woman. ‘By the Light, what is this child doing here?’

A flood of memories raised in mage’s head, but she quickly shook that off. It was not time for thinking about the past.

Margot moved her hands and flew down to the soldiers she had saved a second ago.

“Retreat to the other side of the wall!” She ordered them, with a voice of person accustomed to barking orders. “We must reunite with other units! I will secure your retreat!”

"Hey, hey--!"

From his vantage point in the trees, Erik could see how quickly the whole situation fell into pandemonium. Flashes of magical energy; the scale of which he has never been seen thrown around in order to thwart a simple raid was astounding. It cemented the fact that very few of these misfits were regular army guys, he thought.

"They seem perfectly capable of dealing with this themselves it seems. Perhaps I should retreat for now, wait a couple more days til they're out of town--"

As he reflected on his possible options, Erik finally espied a trace of organized human defense; a pretty familiar sight back in his earlier days. A defensive formation around the perimeter of the entrance, with defenders protecting the gunners and in the middle of it all, a stern soldier barking orders. They were putting up a good fight considering what they were up against but expecting them to hold their position in this hell was perhaps asking a bit too much. Some probably realized the folly and attempted to retreat but he was promptly shot by the stern soldier. The whole scenario reminded him of his infantry days: You get shot if you leave, you die if you stay. They haven't exactly been given the best options on how to spend their lives.

Instinct takes over.

From his position, Allen stood up and locked on the wall, bow at the ready. He adjusted his aim at the demonic wolves attempting to scale the wall.

"Cause? What's that? Honor? Don't need it. There just comes a time where we all have to do something against our principles. Basically, we have to forget we have any."

Having chosen his targets, Erik let his arrows loose; with the tree giving him the best position to fire at the demons from the back. Nonetheless, he knew these monsters never really fall from just regular arrows. Fortunately--all those carvings meant he had a good supply of bone and shell arrows ready. Sparkie shells to be specific.

"I suppose even cogs like me can take them down with the right stuff. I have to pay my fish monger a good fee for when I collect my share."

Gaheris Agramar

The battle continued to rage on. Gaheris had all but thrown himself into the thick of the Darkwolves, crushing and knocking away as many as he could with every sweep of his greatsword. He was roaring, all the while- the Wrath was in full effect, his left arm dragging and flying behind him with every turn and inhumane attack.

"Sheesh, at least he's having fun!" Lyle complained as he ducked under a Runner, running it through with his spear. "Should've brought a poleaxe! We're not doing half as much damage as the big lug is-- hey, Karl, watch your head!"
"I know that, Lyle!" Karl scrambled away from a Runner, moving to stand back to back with his colleague, spears held out. As a rather nasty looking Runner approached though, it was quickly killed by a...
...a fish.

Or, it looked like a fish, anyway.
"W-What the hell is that?!" Lyle shouted, features twisted into confusion as more of the fish people came to assist them.
"Look! They're helping out the others too!" Karl pointed out.

Gaheris had just knocked away a wolf with the flat of his greatsword when a strange fish came barreling down, killing it for him. Needless to say, the giant was surprised.
"Aaaa...?!"
He raised his blade, prepared to smash it if it was another Darkborne- but the one that saved him suddenly screeched in terror, strange, webbed hands waving frantically. Communicating that it was friendly...probably.
"Al...ly...?"

A bright cacophony of fire and light blinded Gaheris momentarily. He looked up to see someone- he couldn't tell who- casting spells and floating in the air. However, the distraction was enough- a Darkwolf lunged at him, missing his arm but knocking his greatsword out of his hand.
However, this proved to be its undoing.
"...AaaAAAAAaaAAAAA--!!!!!"
With a howl that could make even battle hardened veterans tremble, Gaheris's hand shot out and gripped the wolf by the neck. It struggled in his grasp for a moment before it was flung down forcefully by the armored giant.

Its allies met the same fate. Gaheris fought fiercely- perhaps even fiercer still. He tore jaws off of wolves and limbs off of Runners with ease; it wasn't as if being a Giant with immense strength wasn't enough. As he crushed a wolf's head under his armored boot, he felt a tapping.

"Haaaah?!"
He looked down to see the fish...offering him his greatsword back. As soon as his fingers wrapped around the hilt, the fish pointed at the incoming Darkborne.
It was right. Gaheris knew the fight wasn't over just yet. The better course of action, for the giant at least, was to charge in while the reinforcements were still jumbled.

He slung his blade over his shoulder, and lunged in, stopping within inches before the Darkwolf at the front of the pack. It met its end at the flat of the giant's blade.
"Will...crush...you...!!!!"
Gaheris roared as he launched himself again, the dissipating shadows of the Darkborne he was killing rising up ominously around him- as if he was a monster himself.

Pryonn & Kaatl

"'Terra', 'Terra', your name is like a prayer!" The knight sang with exultation as he heard her words, looking on to the approaching beasts, banner in his left, flail in his right "As for the 'flattery'; I seek not to just shower you in compliments, or to sway your mind for selfish gain, my dearest Lady. All I wish is for the world to recognize: Even in this darkest night, your beauty shines like a guiding light!"

Stepping forth, the knight met a darkwolf's charge, thrusting on his banner-spear deep into its widened maw. Quickly impaled, he wasted no time flinging the disintegrating thing away, as he once again raised high his flag "For my Lady Terra's splendor to be shared - for all to look upon your allure and have their spirits brought to height - this shall be my questing-might!" he exclaimed with uninhibited joy as he smashed the head of his flail into an encroaching darkrunner, the creature's shadow form distorting underneath the iron-head's impact.

The monsters were upon them now, most of them focusing on the hulking knight as he roared and chanted with spear and chained flail, impaling, crushing and rending the midnight-creatures.

The living statue ran in the direction of more screams as she realized the rest of the pack had dispersed throughout the town. She was worried about how many she could actually save with such a spread out threat, hoping now that more than just her was competent enough to kill the beasts of the dark.

It is their fault. They are the reason I died, and I will be damned if I stand around listening to more die. Fuck I just need to kill more of 'em! The dirty fucking scum!

That is when they heard nearby screams of a child, turning to see a hound with an arrow in it charging at a small girl accompanied by a taller yellow haired individual. Not wanting to slow down she dragged her hand through the near stone wall as she ran, the hand going through it as she ran like it was water and emerging with a stone-forged hand ax. With this newly formed stone weapon, they were about to chuck it at the hound only to see a mage decimating the beast. With the girl safe the elemental discarded the stone weapon and continued to run to the town square, simply giving the two frailer-looking-people a nod then beckoning them with a hand to continue to move on. She would soon be thunderously running into the square, looking around to help........ Is that a flying woman? The mineral maiden cupped their hands to their face, seemingly taking a deep breath despite not needing any sort of breathing to live, and bellowed at the mage in the sky.

"HEY, YOU IN THE AIR, NEED SOME DIRECTIONS!" Unfortunately, Phos did not have the time or luxury to describe that they could fight, instead hoping the woman could be insightful and realize she could and needed an eye in the sky.

Gon'gon saw an what semmed like an earth elemental, but he had not summoned this one, he make sure the snake woman had atleast 2 elementals protecting her.

Gon'gon runned toward the elf girl, while bombarding some goblins with fireballs, but before he could reach, lots of arrows were flying towards Gon'gon, he, with no time to dodge, cast elemental shield on himself, and hoped for the best.

Gon'gon fall to the floor, heavily wounded by the arrows, he was near the elf he saved he knew they won't hurt him, but nonetheless he summoned 2 ice elementals for some extra protection, and he began healing himself.

Margot, Main Plaza

Margot looked at the soldiers leaving and receiving orders from the woman sorceress identified as Maria Theodosiel. She looked as female knight moved under her and shouted in the general direction of fighters:

"Reinforcement is on the way, hang on!"

Margot raised her brows at how quickly the neighbouring garrison had reacted to danger. Maybe the province was not such a disorganized place as those paper-pushers back in her home city were saying?

The sorceress turned in air, quickly checking if her bag was still on its place, and looking for another group of Darkborne that required incinerating. Little did she know, that her figure in the air attracted more attention than she expected.

"HEY, YOU IN THE AIR, NEED SOME DIRECTIONS!"

A shout loud enough to wake the dead thundered over the city, surprising Margot so much she almost lost grip of her flight spell. She turned her head quickly and saw a tall girl screaming from the top of her lungs at sorceress’ direction.

‘No, not girl...’ Margot thought, quickly analysing the aura of the other female. A Network twisted weirdly around her, as if her existence was fuelled by the Light directly. ‘An elemental? Here?’

Sorceress’ brows raised again. ‘A rude one at that,' thought aristocrat in her. For a second there Margot considered ignoring the girl and getting on with her own business, just like she was always doing with children back in Ratthe… But this was not a court in the heart of Empire, where teens would only bother her for some magic tricks, and that was not a normal girl calling for her.

‘Fighting first, lesson in manners later.’ The sorceress dashed in the direction of the elemental, but she didn’t let her hands stay dormant. With left she drew a Lighting Circle and shot down few Runner jumping on the roofs, while her right hand quickly formed a Telepathy spell.

A voice sounded inside of Spessartite Phos’ head.

“Elemental! If you answer me, we will be able to talk without words.”

The elemental tapped its foot as it looked between the caster and the streets, wondering if they were even listening to what she had asked. When they finally flew in their direction the stone humanoid got ready to ask once more, but with more haste, only to be interrupted by the sudden alien voice inside their rock-packed head. This new development made them shake their head as their gem eyes made sure the woman's mouth was not moving. Yep, it was still as ever, so she was no talking.

"Magic huh? Well, if you can hear me then it doesn't matter if I understand it. I can't see well on the street level so I need directions, preferably someone who can actually SEE what is happening. Can you lend a hand?" They talked in their head using the telepathy call Margot had used, but she couldn't help herself from also emoting with her hands as if she was talking normally.

Aoibhín; "Eevie"
Location
: Plaza --> Broken Wall
Tagging: billthesomething billthesomething

Eevie had heard the call from the cultist before she left him, but there was really no time to exchange a conversation right now. If he followed her, then so be it, but she had to help get this situation under control. Her first line of order was to figure out what was going on, it was chaos in the plaza; primarily it was just a lot of combat, fighting against the creatures storming the wall - and then there were those little fish things. Eevie wasn't sure what to make of them exactly, but they didn't seem to be attempting to fight her, so she let them be.

Voices projected across the plaza intermingled with the flurry of clashing weapons, magic and booming explosions cast from a canon. The thunderous sound made her pause and look in the direction, only to see a girl hurling a giant cross at her foes. It was exceptionally impressive to watch other Guardians fight, as she had no doubt that she was a Guardian - and if not, why the hell not?

Most of the voices she could hear were unintelligible, muffled over the sounds of battle and pain, yet some rang clear. "Command them! Get them in order! Maria! Command!" Eevie wasn't sure who the voice belonged to, but it sounded masculine; someone with authority, she gathered.

'So someone is leading this defence?' Eevie thought briefly as she struck down a goblin, before spearing another on her blade as if she were skewering meats. Sliding the limp body to the ground, Eevie spun her naginata clockwise, the residual blood being shaken off, and began to maneuver her way through the fight, not allowing anything to get too close without some amount of effort.

"HEY, YOU IN THE AIR, NEED SOME DIRECTIONS!" Another voice rang out through the plaza, interrupting her self-imposed mission.

Eevie mentally shook herself - this was not the time to get distracted by others. She needed to get to the outer side of the plaza and figure out how these creatures are getting in. She figured they must have breached the wall or a gate - some weak point in the outer defences. If that was the case then she needed to make sure however they were getting in could be sealed up, or was in the progress of doing so at the very least.

After forcing through the fight, Eevie manage to get to the edge of the plaza, out of the battle, and began sprinting along the street side. She had located the direction of the source from the way the enemies were moving, and propelled herself there as quickly as she could. Once she arrived, she was slightly disappointed to see that not much had been done about it, however there were a few darkborn around that she dedicated her attention too. In her mind she knew that she wasn't able to simply save people while the threat was present, all she could do was mercifully grant them peace, and deal with the foes around them until they were able to end this.

Terra somehow had jumped onto a Darkborne that was taller than her. She implanted her sword into its head. As it started to disintegrate, she pulled out a staff (changed her second hilt) put a lightning crystal into it and a large Warhammer made of electricity formed at the end of the staff.

"Hey Pryonn... I'm pretty light... Maybe you should throw me in the air. Trust me... This will be fun." she said with a smirk. She knew he would be able to throw her with ease. With the electricity she had a plan to clear this entire area so they could focus on the frontal assault. "We do this, the back lime is clear."

Margot

Margot couldn’t help herself and smirked as she saw elemental emoting. Back on the court every mage learnt to supress those natural movements, but the girl before her seemed to be a total beginner at telepathy.

That being said, what elemental was talking about made sense. Margot in the air could see the surrounding well and she herself could use a distraction on the ground, that would give her more time to casts spells.

Sorceress’ eyes darted around and she started reporting in a military manner:

“North is held by Guardians. Plaza - clear. Your flanks- clear.” Margot listed quickly, as she turned her head to south. Whole place’s Network vibrated with fear, impairing her ability to see through it, so mage had to rely on her own two eyes.

Suddenly she had noticed a Darkwolf flying out of the alley few dozen meter ahead of her and a distant squeal of fear reached her ears. Sorceress quickly moved higher and closer to the place, only to see a Hammergrazer in cul-de-sac and three Darkwolves approaching it. The panicked animal was squealing and shaking its head, trying to use its massive size to defend against Darbornes and demolishing houses around it in the process.

Sorceress probably would not put too much attention to the animal if it was alone, but when she flew high enough, she realised there was somebody else in the alleyway. Somebody, who would get brutally killed if panicked Hammergrazer would start to make its way deeper into the street.

“Elemental! South, third alleyway to your left. Panicked Hammergrazer, three Darkwolves. Somebody is trapped there!”

Jericho
Within the thick of the fighting, the man realized the pure chaos of the situation at hand. Between the Hammergrazers running amok near the plaza, crushing house after house with every stomp, and panicked twist of the body, every confused swing of the hammerhead, and the Darkborne and Gobletyns wreaking havoc on both the troops and the civilians, things were getting out of hand. Even with his Experience Drip and Clarity, many are dying. In fact, the ground beneath him was a horrible cocktail of human blood, Goblin blood, and the spilled remains of a Grasshammer's head. The stench it produced was... unpleasant, at the very least.

'Not good,' thought he. 'If we don't get reinforcements, this'll be the end of Frontierville. Damn these Hammergrazers, damn these Darkborne, damn these Goblins, damn them all, damn them to the deepest pits of torment, to the infinite chasm of pain and suffering, damn them...' His train of thought was derailed from the cool head that Jericho usually was, and was rather renowned for, when good news arrived in the form of the General, Maria.

"Reinforcement is on the way, hang on!" She said, her face illuminated by a crimson red streak of hellish fire coming crashing down into the Darkborne ranks in front of their men, having been cast by a powerful sorceress, hovering in the air, saving the lives of many guardsmen, some of whom have curiously either dropped their shields or threw them in anger. Perhaps that gust of wind Jericho felt earlier was not natural after all. Turning back to the woman who had been showing remarkable amounts of bravery, a stark contrast to what he had heard about her from the tales of the guardsmen, Jericho addressed Maria with a triumphant, booming voice, as a couple of whistling arrows smack into the Darkborne forces scaling the walls. "About damn time!"

As soon as those words left his mouth, the sorceress swooped down, as if preparing to say something. Jericho looked up, also catching a glimpse of a bird-like Incruscan being accidentally shot from the air with a stray arrow or two. “Retreat to the other side of the wall! We must reunite with other units! I will secure your retreat!” She commanded, before ascending to her former altitude to continue the fight, shooting off spells in the process. Glancing over the plaza, he assessed the situation. The Incruscan is beginning a slow but sure healing process, most likely being a power of his. A Guardian. Somewhere else, a Giant, with what appears to be a limp arm, is decimating the Darkborne forces in the area, along with a peculiar... Elemental, who seems to be communicating with the sorceress, though Jericho could not hear any words, nor see them move their mouths to speak. A knight, no, knightess, clad in a small piece of armor that suited her lithe body, wielding a bony whip. Another fighter, wielding what appears to be a cross, taking down Darkborne and buildings alike, all while chanting something ominous. All of this, whilst some... humanoid fish creatures are running around, seemingly neutral to the Empire, and striking down various threats, among other fighters that Jericho didn't have the time to inspect further. A most peculiar night.

Acting on the mage's words, he spoke to his men. "You heard the lady, move like your lives depended on it, because it does!" With that said, his troops begun retreating, in a hurried but organized fashion, something a commander could only dream of without his powers. "That means you too, Princess, run like Light!" Jericho addressed Maria as well, before joining his men in the guardsman's favorite pastime activity: running away from things, formally called an "organized retreat".

The group of men hastily ran backwards to the town hall, with one soldier unfortunately being mauled by a Runner. The situation was utter chaos, with a Hammergrazer stampeding straight across the group of men, thrashing wildly, trying to break off a trio of Darkwolves who have latched themselves on the poor thing, with the men barely avoiding it. "Go, go, go!" yelled Jericho, as he speared a Goblin in his way, whilst glimpsing back at his men. Maria was way ahead of the curve when it came to retreating, having already surpassed him, and nearing the Captain's position at the ruined Town Hall.
