1. Frontierville
donovan-valdes-medieval-market-02-dv.jpg
A small settlement, its architecture is common amongst other frontier settlements, built from abundant materials like wood and iron. They grow like mushrooms. But for a cheaply-built settlement, Frontierville has developed very well. Being a major connection hub between the Continent and the Empire, the Imperial Military have taken interest in this place, and have set up a barracks within the settlement for their nearby fort in Vainlight Valley. The walls are of simple design, originally built to repel common beasts and wild predators, but with the rise of the Dark scourge, upgrades have taken place, with reinforcements and spikes on the exterior to wound or kill Darkborne.
Merchants take up most of the settlement, their stalls set up in almost every tight street, selling mostly Continent exotics, like beast hides, furs, and other things. Frontierville is integral, standing between the Empire and the uncharted territories on one of the most populated roads that trail from the frontier all the way back to the capital. But due to its increasing development, houses are being built outside of the walls as well, mostly by the branch of a larger river that runs through the nearby forest. They're mostly built to be small home farms and vineyards, surrounding the settlement. On the other side of the wall is the forest, leading to uncharted territories. There are also bushes on the way from the sea to Frontierville as well, but they're nowhere the size of the forest. The rest are mostly grassland and steppes, with horse and caravan stations set up here and local folks, for supplying merchants with goods, as well as selling a means of transportation, albeit at a rather exorbitant price.

A wall structure surrounds the entire settlement, with specialized guard towers built into them, providing vision and security all around. Specialized Light energy cannon batteries are also posted atop the walls, with special accommodation and reinforcements to compensate for the weight of the guns, providing a powerful punch for large beasts. A steel gate is the main means of entry and exit for the settlement, positioned away from the uncharted forest, with guards stationed there to take note and investigate any and all passersby. An Imperial barracks has been established near the town hall, allowing for fast response to any and all threats.

Musketeers and guardsmen are also mounted atop the roofs of buildings, having gained permission from the citizens to utilize said defenses if the need arises. A small militia of volunteers have also been formed, and these men and women are the first to answer the call, if anything goes wrong within the settlement, or outside, in one of the many lone houses built independently from Frontierville. Stationed within the town hall is a Lightvoxer, for emergency calls and dispatches from the Captain in command, if there is a situation that requires help from further back.

2. Devourer Serpent Cave
mysterious_forest_night_by_sergeyzabelin-d9yvf3v.jpg

A relatively small cave opening, barely high enough for a Giant to walk in, and barely wide enough for a wagon to fit in. Gravelly rocks cover the stone entrance, and blends into dirt and dust as it moves further away from the cave entrance. Nearby, a small stream could be heard, with the occasional croak of a frog, or a cricket's song, as a few fireflies dwell above water. The trees take on a dastardly visage, twisted by the Dark energies surrounding the forest, and as such, they give off haunting images, most notably of rending claws reaching towards the onlooker, with multiple protrusions taking the shape of something entirely...not human, stalking them behind the trees, all while the leaves above droop down like hanged men.

The trees are rotten, brittle, made weak by the Darkness. Within the cave, things do not look much better, or rather, things cannot be seen at all. The cave is barely visible, outcropped by solid stones, their appearances carved away over time, as if something brushed against them daily. Green moss grows wherever it can be seen, surely hiding some sort of insect within its lush outcrop.

3. Forest Outpost
01SkullNBones_FortConceptArt.jpg
The forest outpost is merely 'outpost' by name - residing upon a hilltop in a rarely-found clearing in the Darkwoods, surrounded only by measly regular-sized trees, as opposed to the gigantic pine trees that surround the Forest of Horrors. With thick stone-forged walls raising at least two hundred meters at its apex from the base of the hill, the stronghold is riddled with signs of warfare. Damage dealt to the wall's structure from constant Darkborne bombardment is patched over with rudimentary wood scaffoldings, with the inner courtyards slightly overgrown with big trees of their own. It is separated into 3 different altitudes: ground, middle, and top.
