Fantasy Escape

Mari stopped next to Garter, resting her hands on her knees and she gulped in air. Her lungs were screaming at her and she kept waiting to feel a cold hand close around her shoulder but that didn’t seem to be the case and Garter was soon explaining why. Werewolves. hopefully Being in this territory would help to mask their scent as well. She turned her head to the sound of a howl, glanced at Garter before moving in that direction. Her people had no quarrel with werewolves so she hoped they would feel the same in return.

She understood that they could be putting the wolves in danger if they asked for protection but they could at the very least point them in the direction of safety or offer them some advice on how to avoid vampires. Maybe they’d even have some food or water, gosh She was starving from all this running and fear. She could only hope the werewolves would be friendly and that was a big hope.

Johann had made his way back to the town, feeling his phone buzz as she spotted Lucy, glancing at the message. “Right here” he said from behind her, probably hoping to make her jump a bit. “They’re in werewolf territory, just up the road” he explained. And by now his wound had healed and his balance was better, he still had a pounding headache though and probably some blood in his hair. ”figured I’d share the fun“ he told her, no way to sibling bond better than slashing a few werewolves.

It was late though, they didn’t have to attack today and their mother was probably wondering where they were and what was going on with her missing pets. They could just text her though. The pair weren’t certainly more slippery than they’d first anticipated but they still shouldn’t be too much of a problem, they were hardly dangerous! Although they’d drawn blood from both twins which is more than some of their enemies could say.

Garter was glad when Mari took the lead, Happy to follow. Much like Mari though, With the danger no longer directly behind them Garter could feel the exhaustion setting in. Sure she was hungry and thirsty. But she also felt ready to collapse somewhere to rest. Garter still was finding everything intimidating. Mari perhaps was more at home in the woodlands. Garter as well could feel a faint sense of familiarity here. Memories of running between trees as a child. But that was a long time ago and now every tree felt like a monster hid behind it. Perhaps it was just the night? Garter was for once glad of her eyes. Snake like, She imagined her vision was a bit better then Mari's here.

The direction of the howl was eventually easier to follow. Occasionally Garter would hear another echo in the distance, Further pointing what way to go. The silence of the forest was soon replaced by barks and yips in the distance. They were downwind it seemed and the wolves had yet to catch the scent of intruders. Thus none were on alert. Finally, After what felt like endless walking to Garter the wolves came into sight. Two growling and barking as they rolled around on the ground. Playfully battling eachother. While the other pranced after them, Tail wagging and tongue lolling. Occasionally howling and barking. It was odd... Seeing creatures that showed no sinister motive. Nor were the beasts cowering in fear. No, The three were just playing and having fun. Enjoying the night with no fear.

But sadly their games were coming to a halt. Garter was exhausted and at this point? She could only hope the canines would provide some safety to her and Mari. If not... Garter wasn't sure she could run any further. Thus she found herself stepping out of the shadows. Legs finally giving out and collapsing. The wolves quickly coming to a halt in surprise. No doubt confused by the sudden girl appearing and with there eyes on Garter. They quickly caught sight of Mari. The two wrestling eachother quickly separated. Moving to there feet and hackles raised in uncertainty. While the one who had been prancing was soon shifting into the form of a human. Garter was soon completely blacking out as a young man with concerned grey eyes moved forward to her side.

--

Lucy surely had not expected her brothers arrival. No, She was more concerned with texting him and her broken phone screen. Thus he did succeed in spooking her. Quickly she spun around in alarm. But she was soon relaxing at the sight of him. A annoying expression crossing her face. Johann seemed to bring good and bad news. He knew the location of the girls. But where they were? That was risky. That wasn't the only thing that concerned her. Johann seemed a bit ruffled. Lucy then murmured sarcastically. "Oh joy, Werewolves. " She was going to have the scent of wet dog on her for days after this. She just knew it.

Lucy then mused. "Don't suppose you were able to tell how many there were? " He might have been able to tell from the scents. Though that probable wouldn't give a exact number. Asking around would likely give them more results. If a pack was nearby someone would know about it. So, Lucy let out a sigh. Shaking her head and murmured. "As much as I would love to march in there. We probable should poke around and learn what we can about the pack. I don't like fighting wolves unprepared. " But that ment they would likely have to return for the night. Start in the morning. Which ment they had to face mother. Something Lucy was hesitant to do.

Darkness was quickly descending and Mari didn’t care for it, fairies were far more creatures of light. She didn’t hate nightfall, she just didn’t want to be scared and vulnerable In the dark right now. It was a bit different when you were somewhere you knew with people you trusted. When the Fairies would gather at a river or in a hollow, bringing with them the fireflies and letting glowing mushrooms light up their faces as they laughed and danced. She pushed the thought away sharply, clearly they had not been people she should have trusted, they had not come for her, still, the sense of longing didn’t fade.

Mari almost cried out in relief as they spotted the werewolves and she was moving forward just as Garter was collapsing. She gasped, trying to catch her friend or cradle her fall, check she was okay. “We mean you no harm” Mari gasped out, looking at the one which had shifted. “We….we need help” she admitted. ”A vampire was chasing us” although she didn’t say who or that there’d be more after them. “Please, we don’t know where to go or what to do, we can’t be Captured” she pleaded desperately.

Johann shook his head. “Hard to tell” he told her, “but definitely more than one” although that was obvious from his return empty handed. He eyed Lucy as she quite reasonably explained they should know more but well, Johann, as ever, was self-confident. “I’m always prepared“ he said but offered no other disagreement. It was true enough, he was always prepared to throw down, was armed at least 98% of the time and had the skills to back it up. Then again, he was more bloodthirsty than Lucy so it was to be expected.

”Maybe one of the servants know” Johann murmured, it would probably do well for someone in their house to know if local threats, Eve probably knew but did they really want to ask her? She would probably be the one doing the questioning. Speaking of: “i know we’ve yet to catch them, but we weren’t the ones who let them get out in the first place” he reassured Lucy somewhat. They hadn’t been the ones to put the collar on wrong or whatever, they just hadn’t managed to return them yet, and Johann was sure they would in time. The poor person who out them back was probably not doing too well at the moment. “Might as well get it over with” Johann prompied, nudging his sister and starting the walk back, not bothering to run.

The werewolf man was crouching in front of Mari. Concern on his face. But the mention of vampires had him frowning. The other wolves ears perked up, And one let out a soft growl. But the aggression did not seem directed at the girls. Just the gal of the vampires chasing them. Thus nodding. The man asked Mari. "Can you walk? " She seemed exhausted as well. But in a little better shape then Garter. Whatever the case. He looked towards the growling wolf. Directing. "Crow, Get them home and lock the doors. We're gonna check the territory border. " With that he was moving away from the girls. Form soon taking that of a large grey wolf. Before he was sprinting off. One of the other wolves soon hot on his trail.

The wolf remaining, Who seemed to be named crow was soon approaching. Pelt a decent bit darker then the other. The creature's nose wrinkled a bit as she sniffed at the girls. Taking in the scent of vampire wish caused her to sneeze. Before finally shapeshifting. A young woman soon stood in front of Mari. Grey eyes curious, Yet a bit wary. She then knelt down and without any hesitation was scooping up Garter. Carrying her bridal style. Crow then nodded her head. Her voice naturally rough and stern. "This way. Our home isn't that far. My brothers will make sure no one followed you. " So it seemed the three were siblings. The important part though was they seemed perfectly ready to help the girls in need. Had they been aggressive the girls would have stood little chance.

--

That was true enough, Johann always seemed to have a weapon somewhere. Lucy would be lying if she said she didn't keep something on her too. But wolves had sharp teeth and Lucy did not fancy getting bit tonight. Seemed the choice was made though. Return home. Lucy was happy to trail after her brother. Pace casual. The longer it took to get home, The better. Johann was right. They hadn't let the slaves get loose. But Lucy then murmured. "But they still got away from us. " The two had been on their trail. Both had fought with them. And both had lost. That wasn't good. Perhaps they should clean off any blood on them? Hide the evidence, Lucy was sure some lingered on there face. And looking at Johann? She could smell the blood. See it on the back of her head.

Carefully she reached up. Probing the injury. Hopefully it had healed by now, If not, That might hurt a bit. Lucy then said. "I see I'm not the only one they drew blood from. Are you alright? " And she wasn't talking about in reference to his injury. No. He'd recover from that. But his pride was likely hurt. Lucy knew hers was. Those girls were going to pay when they caught them. Lucy then muttered. "I suppose we shouldn't have underestimated them so much. Cornered animals always tend to be a hassle. " The girls might have gotten lucky with dealing with Lucy. But both of them? That hurt.

Mari nodded, her legs were tired and her feet were sore but yes she could walk. She could do whatever they wanted if it meant they’d help. Crow got closer and was soon scooping Garter up which Mari was a bit hesitant about but she certainly wasn’t strong enough at the moment to carry her friend herself. Mari trailed after Crow, still jittery but starting to feel a little better. “Are you the only werewolves which live here?” She asked with A frown because she was starting to realise that three werewolves probably wouldn’t put up much of a fight in comparison to the twins. Hopefully there were more in their pack. There had to be, right?

”thank you for helping us“ she murmured quietly. “I don’t know what we would’ve done otherwise” Their generosity was appreciated but once they’d recuperated, Mari was sure they’d have to move again, especially if the pack was only small. “We’re not exactly fighters” she explained.

They had still got away but it wasn’t as simple as that, hunts were unpredictable, that was half of the fun, and the girls hadn’t really gotten away, they were just not in their custody at the moment. He scowled at Lucy as she poked his head, the wound was mostly healed but still a bit sore. “They got lucky” he growled. He would recover, he certainly had much more to be prideful about. Johann seemed to make a noise of disagreement. “Cornered animals are easy, they wouldn’t be cornered in the first place otherwise” he muttered. “They won’t get far and they’re pretty much defenceless, we just need to grab the scaly one before she shape-shifts and make sure the other one doesn’t distract us with her big mouth” Not that it had been Mari’s mouth that had been the problem but Johann’s interests. He would’ve pointed out that they would’ve dragged back home if Lucy had been with him but well, it had been his decision to split up. Still, at least it had taken both of them to bring Johann down whilst it had only take one for Lucy.

Crow seemed to find carrying Garter rather easy, Head held high as she walked. Leading the way. Though she glanced in Mari's direction at the question. Eyeing her for a second before telling. "My sister in law also lives here, But she's human. " Which ment she'd be no use against a vampire. Only the werewolves really stood a chance but... These wolves might be tough. But with so few they stood little chance against the vampires. Which ment Mari and Garter likely could not hope for protection for too long. They might be helping now, But would they put their lives at risk? Still, For the moment the wolves were helping them. Walking, Eventually a cabin came into view. Perhaps it wasn't much to look at, But their was something pleasant about the building.

Stepping onto the porch. Crow carefully pushed open the front door. Calling out. "Sam! " Before urging Mari inside, She followed after, Inside the small group was entering a living room. Family photos hung on the walls and the room itself just felt welcoming. The sound of a crying baby could be heard in the other room. While a exhausted woman poked her head out. Blonde hair tied back in a lazy bun. Groaning. "D*mmit crow, Do you have to be so loud? I'd just gotten her to sle-" But she faltered at the sight of Mari and Garter. Eyes wide and uncertain.

The woman who seemed to be called Sam then started. "Whats going on? " She asked, Watching Crow move towards the nearby couch. Setting Garter down. Crow then told the other. "We might have some vampires in the area. Just... Stay locked in your room with the baby for now. Alright? " That wasn't the best explanation and clearly Sam wanted to linger. But in the end she backed away and closed the door. The click of it locking heard in the background. For the best, Crow likely didn't trust Garter and Mari enough to allow them near Sam. Yeah, Garter and Mari really couldn't stay long if there were children here. But neither had much choice. Garter was still passed out from exhaustion and Mari could hardly go much further either.

---

Lucy raised her eyebrow as Johann talked. Pointing out. "Cornered animals bite harder. " Not that these creatures were particularly strong. But they would likely fight tooth and nail not to be dragged back. Not that it would work. It was just a matter of time before Lucy and Johann caught them. Lucy then shook her head and said. "We should bring collars with us next time. Once we get one on them, They won't be able to use their little tricks to escape. " The nymph wouldn't be able to shapeshift and the fairy would no longer be able to cast illusions. They'd be completely helpless. Putting the collars on them might be a bit tricky though.

Mari had been hoping for at least 3 more werewolves but Crow wasn’t revealing the presence of any such creatures. No, just a human which….was probably worse. She didn’t feel good about being here. They were putting these people in danger and….they had a baby! Oh no. She didn’t want the twins coming in here and orphaning that poor child. Except even if they moved on now, these werewolves were in danger, Johann knew they’d been here and that meant he’d be paying them a visit.

Mari tried to keep the guilt off her face as she settled near her friend worriedly. “I’m sorry” she murmured. “we….it’s not safe” she said, the werewolves needed to move too, maybe come back in a Few days and they’d be fine. “do you know anywhere we can go?” She asked. Was there like a supernatural council against atrocities? You know, like enforcers of basic supernatural rights?

Their collars weren’t a bad idea, would certainly make it easier to drag them back. Except it wasn’t exactly their powers which had brought Johann down but good old misdirection and a heavy rock. ”You can carry them,“ Johann told her. She could take the collars because if, no, when they captured them, Johann would probably be the one tasked with carrying them back home, or well, to the car. And okay, maybe he could run them over? Sure they could outrun the girls anyway but it had a sort of shock factor. At least with his car he’d have his gear to get them all tied up and going nowhere.

The girls were here, And it was too late to go back now. Even should they leave or surrender willingly, It was entirely possible the vampires would kill the pack anyway. They were animals like that. But it seemed they would atleast be safe for the night. Crow paused at the question. Glancing towards Mari and frowning. She then shook her head. Telling Mari. "Not anywhere nearby. " Sure, There were other packs in the area. But Crow's pack had no connections with them and thus no ability to judge how they'd react to the girls. Crow's attention though was soon turning towards the door. Hearing a soft howl ring outside. Crow wasted little time approaching the door and opening it. The grey eyed man from before stood. Briefly he glanced towards Mari before murmuring quietly to Crow. "It seems the vampire wasn't willing to cross the border. But I still think we should stay on alert. " Better safe then sorry.

Crow was soon nodding in agreement. Moving aside to allow the man inside. Seemed he was the leader of the little pack. Tall and intimidating. Certainly not someone you'd want angry at you. But for now his expression was worried. Looking towards Crow. He then said. "Go get her some water and food. The poor thing looks dreadful. " Which- Ow, But it was surely true. Neither girl was in a good state. Fleeing had taken a lot out of them. Crow didn't hesitate before fleeing. While the man was looking back at Mari.

"Now, I believe you owe us some sort of explanation. " Why were they getting chased? Who were the vampires after them? Did the vampires still want them? The wolves clearly felt sympathy for the girls. But they were also wary. Vampires were dangerous and even one could cause a lot of damage for the pack. The canines stood little chance of fighting off both Lucy and Johann.

The situation wasn’t getting any better as Crow didn’t seem to know anywhere that could provide them more safety. It was a bit of a relief when the other werewolf came back, it meant that Johann and Lucy weren’t out there waiting for them. Maybe his assessment of them was a bit harsh but it was true. They were looking bedraggled and exhausted and scared. And they wanted some sort of explanation which was onto fair enough but Mari was a little hesitant. She didn’t want them to throw them out once they learned of their story.

”I…we… we were prisoners” she started. “I don’t know for how long, years, maybe decades” she murmured, it was sort of hard to keep track of time when the vampires around you didn’t age and it’s not like they went outside all that much if at all. ”not just us, others too, caged, unable to use our powers and trotted about like dogs” she murmured, there was more than that though, used for more than just showing off sometimes. “We had no agency whatsoever, used for whatever they wanted. But, my friend, they didn’t put her back right…she had access to her powers, broke us out. But they’re after us, our captor” she didn’t want to use the word mistress, Eve didn't deserve that power. “She doesn’t like to be shown up. We need to get to safety, find someone who can protect us, can stop her, or at least get far enough away they’ll stop trying” Which probably didn’t answer a lot of specific questions but have them a run down of the situation.

Mari didn't give any specific names. Which was a bit frustrating. But the werewolf doubt he'd know the name of whatever vampire had been her captor anyway. He had never involved himself much with those creatures. The canine though watched Mari with a certain pity in his eyes. They needed help, But the werewolf was uncertain how much help he could truly give. By now Crow had returned with a glass of water. Giving it to Mari before taking a position next to her brother. The man finally let out a sigh. Deciding. "You can stay here for the night. Tomorrow my brother can give you both a ride to town. But that is all we can do for you. " He'd provide them protection until the morning. Let them rest. But that was it.

He didn't feel like he needed to explain that decision. He had a wife and child to look after. Just allowing the girls to stay the night was risky enough. Vampires were dangerous things and he did not want to make enemies with them. Perhaps it was too late for that though? He shook his head. Telling Mari. "As for where you can go, I don't know... " He had never picked a fight with a vampire before. Didn't want too. His pack also kept to themselves. Didn't mingle with the larger more aggressive packs. Though he did know of some of their locations.

He then told Mari. "There are other packs. Most werewolves aren't keen on vampires. So they might accept you among them just to annoy the creatures. You might be able to find one of those packs if you ask around in the city. " That was all the advice he could give her. His family much preferred to keep to themselves. If Garter and Mari wanted protection, They'd need to find a pretty good sized pack and hope the canines were welcoming!

Mari nodded her thanks. She didnt expect more than a place to sleep for tonight, knew it was dangerous For them and it had her inside twisting because tomorrow she’d have to try and convince them to escape for a little while too. She figured whatever the twins planned to do, whether they got answers or not might not make much of a difference. She accepted the water gratefully, taking several large gulps to try and soothe her throat that was raw from the running and also to settle the nerves in her stomach.

She didn’t know where she’d begin asking about packs but it was better than nothing. There must be a large pack of werewolves that would keep the vampires at bay, there was after all, a reason why werewolves weren’t extinct. They just had to look and keep ahead of the twins and they’d be fine. They’d be fine! She didn’t think she was going to sleep easy tonight. “Thank you” she murmured. “I’ll ask around“ maybe people would be willing to help two desperate and in need girls? She wished she had something to give them but they had nothing but the clothes on their backs.

”is the baby yours?” She asked curiously. Maybe she could try and bestow a blessing on the child? That’s what fairies did right, bless babies. She’d never personally tried it…wasn’t sure if she had the power but maybe she could try. “I…I didn’t think werewolves normally mixed with humans,“ she said and she wondered how that had come about. But she didn’t know much about werewolves so maybe she was wrong. She knew at least that vampires didn't exactly see humans as mates, more as playthings and food.

The man seemed rather relieved when Mari accepted what help they could do. He had half feared she tried to beg for more. Which he could not give. There was only so much he could do. He then paused at her question. Glancing towards the room where his wife was before nodding. Taking a seat in a nearby chair. He then told her. "It isn't that uncommon. Just... Normally we turn our mates. " Taking a human mate was not odd at all. Them remaining human? That was the weird part. He would not deny that it was a tempting thing. To be able to run as wolves with his wife. It was something easily desirable.

He then told Mari. "Sam doesn't want to become a wolf though, And I'd never force her to become one. " Even if that ment he worried more. Humans just felt so much more fragile. But it was her choice and he would honor it. He did decide to tell Mari. "Our daughter is a werewolf though. She's too little to shift but... You can smell it on her. " The stench clung to someone. He had known shortly after she was born she was like him. Which was a relief... Having a human child? That seemed stressful. A werewolf kid was hard enough!

The man then paused. Seeming to realize he hadn't introduced himself and soon told her. "I'm Hawk by the way. I'm sure you've met Crow. " He then gestured towards his sister next to him. Before pointing outside. Saying. "My little brother outside is Robin. " Seemed there parents went for a bird theme when naming them. Speaking of Robin. The door was suddenly opening. A young man who seemed close in age to Crow was soon stepping in. Blonde hair messy and a wild excitable grin on his face. Saying. "No sign of the vampire. Clearly got spooked at the border. " He spoke smugly. Before looking at Mari. "Don't worry Ma'am. Nothing will bother you tonight. " He informed. Though now that he had returned. The small living room suddenly seemed a bit cramped. Which the werewolves didn't seem to mind too much. They liked being near eachother, Were used to it. But that didn't mean they didn't notice it. Thus Robin was then suggesting. "You can take mine and Crow's room. We were planning to spend the night outside anyway." Seemed Crow and Robin shared a room. Though Crow did not seem as pleased to lose her room. She did not argue. It was true. The three had planned to spend the night outside. Originally planning to go hunting and such. Besides. None was certain they'd be able to get much sleep worrying about the vampires.

Mari couldn’t really imagine dating a human, let alone having a child with one. Humans seemed so….clumsy. She looked close enough like one to blend in when her wings were hidden but there were differences, her limbs were generally a bit longer and thinner, her ears slightly more pointed, facial features more pronounced and skin a bit paler. Fairies were perhaps a bit delicate, at least fairies like her, but she didn’t seem how humans were well evolved. Fairies might not be the best fighters but at least their wings gave them an extra chance of retreat, could lift them into trees or fly them away depending on their strength. Humans seemed to lack….magic. At least his child was a werewolf, a more sturdy creature. And she wondered if he could smell what they were, or if he wasn’t sure, they looked ordinary enough with the clothes covering them and Garter asleep, maybe not fully human but maybe not distinguishable either.

Hawk, Crow and in came Robin. He seemed a bit too pleased, probably didn’t realise how much danger they were all in. She didn’t want to dash his mood but she felt queasy from worry. Her gaze flickered between them all before resting on Robin, biting her lower lip in stress. “Are you sure? We don’t want to impose any more than we already have” she insisted and….was it safe for them to sleep outside? It might be good to keep an eye out for vampires but Mari was worried it might not be the best defendable position.

“I don’t know when the vampires will be back, but I imagine it’ll be early” she warned, they wouldn’t want to waste time and risk losing them. ”When they come, you’re better off running” she told them even if she knew they might not listen. “These vampires they’re…..all vampires are cruel, I know that, but these….they’re worse” she said. “They don’t just keep prisoners, they kill their own kind,“ she warned. She might not have seen the rituals or been with any of them to take down a vampire but she’d overheard conversations from guests, Eve and the twins as well as other prisoners, she knew the family was more dangerous than most vampires.

Robin seemed confident. But he was also the youngest of the siblings it looked like. Probable didn't have the most experience with vampires and was far too confident. Luckily the other two seemed wary. Crow then spoke up, Seeming a bit gentler then before. "Its no trouble. Besides, I think I'd prefer to be in the open tonight. " It felt safer to be outside. Able to smell and listen for anything dangerous. Besides, They were wolves! Sleeping outside was hardly a issue for them. All three wolves looked between each other at that. But in the end, Robin and Crow were both looking to Hawk to make a decision.

Running was... uncomfortable. This was there territory. It provided a certain safety to it and leaving felt wrong. Maybe even a bit more dangerous. Even with the threat of vampires it felt better to fight then to flee. Still, Hawk had a family to think about and thus he conceded. "I'll have Sam pack a bag. Just in case. " They weren't completely giving up. But they'd be ready to go if it came to that. Crow and Robin held no argument. Though Robin seemed to pout a bit and Crow fidgeted where she stood. Crow though eventually turned around. Walking towards the door before shapeshifting. Taking the form of a dark brown wolf once again. She allowed herself a moment to stretch. Robin though looked towards Mari and told her softly. "We're gonna patrol the border one last time. You have a goodnight! " With that he was moving. Taking the form of a wolf once again. Tail wagging as he went after his sister. Playful growls coming from the both as they disappeared from view.

By now Hawk had stood up and walked over to the door Sam was in. Knocking on the door and watching as she opened it. The womans expression worried and from Mari's position she could probable see the baby in her arms. But Hawk spoke quietly to her. Pressing his forehead against hers. Expression soft, Hesitantly Sam nodded. Leaning against her husband for a moment before she gave him a small kiss on the cheek. That was enough to cause a blush to form on his face. Awkwardly grinning at her as she disappeared into the room. Closing the door behind her. Hawk then stepped away. Shaking his head and walking over to Mari. He then said. "C'mon. I can carry your friend to your room for the night. " He offered.

Mari could breathe a sigh of relief as the werewolves at least considered running. The three of them would not be much challenge in her opinion, especially not with something as precious as a baby. She was sure Johann wouldn’t hesitate to use Sam and the baby to hurt the werewolves. She was a bit worried about them patrolling again, what if Johann and Lucy came in the middle of the night? But no, she didn’t think that’d be the case, they’d want to draw out their anxiety, make them squirm, a false sense of hope at maybe getting away.

Mari watched the pair go then observed Sam and Hawk out of the corner of her eyes, it felt rude to stare. She turned big eyes to Hawk and nodded. “Thank you” she didn’t think she had the strength to lift Garter. She got to her feet, knees a bit weak, exhaustion from running set deep into her bones and she made her way to the room they’d been offered. “Please don’t try to fight them” she murmured gently to Hawk. “You have a baby to think about, and they’ll use that against you” She didn’t want to be the cause of a family dissolving. She felt bad enough as it was. She was sure her sleep, if she got any, would be filled with nightmares and cages.

Hawk frowned as he led Mari to the room. Averting his eyes away from her before saying. "I... Will consider your words. Don't worry. Everything will be fine. " He ensured. He'd need to discuss with his siblings the best course of action. Running was humiliatingly. But it was perhaps for the best. Setting Garter down on one of the beds in the room. He gave Mari a small glance. Placing a hand on her shoulder and telling her. "Nothing will bother you tonight though. So just rest." Then with that he was finally leaving the girl alone.

-Going ahead and time skipping to the next day-

It was first light when Garter finally stirred from sleep. Curled up in a bed and room she did not recognize. The sound of voices outside clear and for a moment, Garter stiffened. Briefly scared to move. But eventually. As she spotted Mari on the other side of the bed laid down she slowly sat up. Alarm on her face for a moment. Her hand moving to her neck and relief washed over her. No collar. They hadn't been captured by vampires. No, The only scent of the creatures she could catch was stale on her clothing. The smell of wolves was plenty though.

Focusing, Garter slowly moved to her feet. Wincing a bit, Still sore from all the running yesterday. She slowly neared the door and the sounds became more clear. Frustrated arguing. Carefully, She opened the door and peered outside. Only to be caught off guard by the smell of food. The scent enough to make her mouth water. Yet she was hesitant to exit the room.

Breakfast seemed to be the first plan of the day. Food was something no werewolf would pass down and the canines had taken the time to finish planning while they ate. Sam sitting close to her husband. Who held his daughter in his arms. Saying. "Sam, Are you sure you'll be alright at your parents place? " He was fussing. Though the woman was soon nodding. Speaking in a heavy southern accent. "I'll be fine... I... I still think you should come with me.. " She told. Head tilting to the side.

That caused Robin to cut in. Briefly looking up from his wolfing down of his food. "We can take them! We gotta protect our territory! " He said. Almost seeming excited at the idea. Though the two older werewolves were obviously more hesitant. So Hawk shook his head. Telling Sam. "Crow's fought vampires before. We'll follow her lead if it comes to a fight. I don't expect it too though. I just... We can't let ourselves be pushed around. " They were just going to make sure the vampires knew they were unwelcomed here. Urge them off there territory. Be ready to fight if needed.

Mari woke up after Garter, the movement of the other girl stirring her from her restless sleep. She’d not had a very peaceful night but some sleep was better than no sleep. She followed after Garter, her own legs still aching and her stomach grumbling at the smell of food. The werewolves looked like a proper family, she was almost envious of them. They had people to rely on, a family to look after them, Mari only had Garter. Her family had clearly not been much of a family at all.

She frowned as she overheard their conversation and she drew closer. Mari did peer at the baby curiously, she didn’t get to see many what with being caged for so long, it’s not like many children were coming round Eve’s. “These aren’t normal vampires“ she insisted. “They’ll hurt you just for the sake of it and they’re vicious” she warned. “They’re not going to take no for an answer” she was sure the twins would do whatever it took. A few angry werewolves weren’t going to ward them off from going where they wanted. They were just going to get themselves killed.

”you should all go with her” Mari insisted with a nod towards Sam. “This is just a place, its not worth your lives. You can return in time, the vampires don’t want your land, they just want us” and she didn't want them to turn them over to the twins but she had to make it clear that the twins likely wouldn’t bother them if they didn’t think they could lead them to them.

Garter nearly jumped when she heard Mari approaching from behind her. But soon relaxed. Looking back at the other. She kept quiet for a moment before following after Mari. Sticking close to her friend. As soon as they stepped out, Garter could feel eyes on them. It made her bristle slightly. But nothing seemed unfriendly. Instead, Hawk was soon motioning for the girls to sit down for breakfast. Suddenly most of Garters thoughts were then gone and she was moving to the table. Easily attracted by the lure of food. Mari was more willing to speak up though.

Hawk listened patiently. Gently rocking the baby in his arms. He sighed before finally looking from Mari to Crow. Asking her. "You've dealt with vampires before. What do you think? " Mari's words might be true... But Mari was also a far more frail species. Such could be adding to her fears of these creatures. Thus it made it difficult to gauge the actual threat from her alone. His sister did not have much experience with the undead. But she had a little more then the other siblings. Crow seemed to be thinking. Assessing Mari. Crow then finally let out a breath. "She's right, They won't want our home. Are territory isn't tempting for vampires. Not enough human prey around. " They lived in a forest. Not a city. Crow then told Hawk. "I don't like leaving home. But if we do choose to stay. We need to be very careful. If there is more then one.... " She trailed off. But the siblings knew what she ment. They couldn't take more then one vampire. Perhaps leaving was the best option.

---
Meanwhile, Perhaps the wolves time to leave was running short.
Lucy stood at the border of the territory. They'd set out early. No need to let their prey fully recover after all. By now any wounds the vampires had received would have healed. But there little pets? They would surely still be worn out. Staring out into the forest. Finding information about the pack hadn't been too difficult. The packs location was near enough to their home that someone had been keeping tabs of them. The pack itself was small. Lucy didn't have a exact number but there had to be no more then 6 members. Enough for her and her brother to easily defeat. Oh, Fighting werewolves could be thrilling. But Lucy had a feeling it would take forever to get the blood out of her clothing.

Lucy then spoke up. "Think the girls are still there? Or do you think the wolves chased them out? " She asked her brother curiously. Even if the wolves had gotten rid of them, The canines probable remembered what direction they had gone. Or maybe the dogs had just killed them? Lucy didn't think she'd mind that too much. But it would surely be a bit of a headache. Their mother wanted her pets returned, Not killed. Which was perhaps a bit frustrating. But the twins could work with it.

Mari released the breath she’d been holding when Crow agreed with her. She wanted these werewolves to stay as safe as possible. It was reasonable to assume that only one vampire would come, they didn’t exactly hunt in Groups after all but the twins were almost always together, it was part of what made them so dangerous. It was a lot harder to take down two vampires than a lone one. Mari let her eyes flicker over the werewolves “where one goes, the other is not far behind” she murmured. “There will be two, of that I am certain” she warned. Johann was be back, that was a given, but there was no way he wouldn’t also bring Lucy.

”people can be very convincing when their lives depend on it” Johann murmured. ”they’re in there alright, I just wonder how quickly the wolves will give them up” They were pack creatures, it was nature for them to look out for one another, but the girls weren’t family, they were trouble on their doorstep so the werewolves might just hand them over in order to save themselves. But…would that actually save them? Johann and Lucy could still kill them, even if there was no need. Call it pest control.

Johann was stepping into the territory, he figured the wolves would be where their scent was strongest, likely a home or a den. Whether the girls were also there was another question. He supposed they didn’t have to kill them all, they could bring one back as a pet. Werewolves were disgusting creatures but logically they
probably aligned very well with his mother’s idea of a pet. They were quite literally part dog, they were dangerous, and yet they had a human form and could still be used carnally. But, they did smell like wet dog so That wasn’t great. If anyone was less likely to be killed, it was probably the human, she wasn’t a threat to them and she could always be used to feed but they wouldn’t necessarily kill her, she was of little consequence.

When the news that there was likely two vampires. That seemed to finally cause Hawk to make a decision. Standing up, He then looked towards the other two werewolves and told them. "Alright, We're leaving. You two, Make sure you have everything you want to take with you. " He urged. Crow seemed happy to listen. Nodding her head. But Robin was hesitating. Annoyance on his face. "We can handle vampires! Mom wouldn't have wanted us to leave our home. " And Garter couldn't help but get the vibe that Robin was fairly naive. He was young. Probable only about 20. Had he even met a vampire before? If he had he probable wouldn't be so eager to fight one. But Hawk soon growled. "Robin, Our mom would want us to be safe. Not stupid. Now go get packed. " His tone causing Robin to wince slightly.

But Robin wasn't completely happy to listen. His plate was empty by now, Though the others were just finishing up. So he got to his feet. Storming towards his and Crow's room and closing the door. Well, If they didn't want to deal with the Vampires. He could! He was a werewolf! How tough could a vampire be? He often trained with Crow and she was the best fighter he knew. So he was sure he could handle this.
Thus, his mind was settled. He'd deal with the vampires. Then return to his family. Wouldn't they be impressed? Quietly Robin was opening the window. Slipping outside. Nerves briefly causing him to hesitate. But it was not enough to make him stop.
Form shifting. The young man then bolted. Tail raised high and excitable wagging. He could do this!

Glancing towards her brother, Lucy shook her head. She then mused. "I hope they just hand them over, I really do not want the smell of wet dog on my clothes. " Perhaps if they resisted they might capture one. But Lucy very much doubted they'd ever get the smell of dog out of Johann's car if that was the case. Trailing behind her brother. Hopefully it would not be too difficult to find there way to the wolves den. But Lucy knew sometimes a werewolf territory could be fairly large. Except this was only a small pack, They probable didn't have enough members to patrol and keep a huge territory.

Moving at her brothers side. The two walked for a time before Lucy heard rustling. It made her pause and touch Johann's arm to alert him. Though she imagined he had already heard. Well, These wolves weren't being very stealthy? Now were they? And coming right to them! How lucky. Lucy was very much expecting a attack if they were charging this much. But when the canine suddenly burst from the undergrowth. He did not immediately launch a attack. Barking angrily, His tail high and wagging in almost excitement. Which did take away from the intimidation. Was this ment to be a distraction? Because one werewolf stood no chance against them. Thus Lucy found her gaze drifting around in brief confusion.

Then the werewolf was shifting. A young man standing in front of him, And Lucy perhaps might have found him handsome. But the barking had started to give her a bit of a headache. Though she still looked him up and down for a moment. Robin wasn't bad to look at, Blonde with his grey eyes looking rather wild. Narrowed as he then spoke up. "This is my families territory. L-Leave. " He ordered. His words faltering briefly from what seemed to be nerves. Nearly making Lucy laugh. Yeah, They weren't leaving.

Robin really should’ve listened to his siblings but like many younger siblings, he didn’t appear to like heing told what to do and was overconfident. Well that could be a dangerous mistake because three werewolves against two vampires was already a bad outcome for the werewolves but just one? Robin really didn't stand much chance. Maybe they could be reasoned with? Yeah unlikely.

Johann glanced at Lucy briefly. “So reluctant to get into a fight“ he commented in disapproval, “I really cannot relate“ he mused because well…Johann liked a fight. To be fair, he wouldn’t mind a quick resolution but the girls had angered him, someone needed to pay. But yeah, often he could be lazy although time spent around their mother tended to bring about a more….obedient Johann, one more willing to go to extremes for her, time apart meant Johann perhaps was more self-serving and relaxed, not as on edge as he was when around Eve.

It seemed they might not have to wait long for a werewolf was soon appearing and….really, just one? What a joke. And Robin was rather handsome and definitely Johann’s type except for the fact that he was werewolf. Still, he seemed foolish and honestly a little stupid, why else would he face them alone, and Johann did enjoy someone he could trick and manipulate. If Robin was shooting for bold and confident then he firmly landed on unintimidating and nervous.

Johann arched an eyebrow at the boy. ”what family? All I see is you” He pointed out and went to carry on further into the territory, this boy was not their target, he seemed like little threat to them. “We want our…friends and then we’ll be on our way” he called to Robin although that might not be true yet it was best Robin complied, meant fewer people would be at risk of being hurt. Probably wouldn’t though, because he hadn’t even listened to his brother, why would he listen to a vampire!

Robin very much reminded Lucy of a foolish pup. Shifting uncomfortably as the vampires watched him. Lucy was perfectly fine moving on and leaving the boy alone. Moving to follow after her brother. But Robin wasn't happy with them walking away from him. Barking. "My older brother has given those girls safety here. You- You don't get to walk further into our territory! " Seemed Robin was eager to play the part of knight in shining armor. Moving forward, He reached to grab Lucy by her arm. A attempt to stop the twins from continuing. Bad move, Because Lucy was whirling on him. Aggressively shoving him back. Watching as he hit a nearby tree. Wincing a bit in surprise.

Lucy then warned. "Kid, I'm feeling nice today. So go run along and we won't kill you. " She really didn't want wolf blood on her shirt. That would take forever to get out. But Robin seemed to have other ideas. Angrily narrowing his eyes. The boys form began to shift and soon a light colored wolf stood in front of them. Angrily snarling.
But Lucy could tell he'd been spooked. Perhaps not realizing the strength of a vampire until Lucy shoved him. His tail was tucked between his legs. But he still bared his teeth at them. Lowering his body closer to the ground and creeping forward.

Then he was lunging, Ready to strike. But Lucy very easily just stepped aside. Causing him to fly past her and hit the ground with a loud thump. A bit dazed as he struggled to get his paws back underneath him. Really, Lucy doubted he had ever been in a fight before. Which was a little true... Sure, Robin play fought with Crow, He'd also hunted a bit in his life. But he'd never had a serious fight. Thus when he was scrambling to get up. Lucy walked over and rather easily put her foot on the back of his head. Easily strong enough to keep him on the ground. Struggling to turn himself around to bite or scratch at her. But no matter how much he squirmed it did little. He still growled, But Lucy swore she heard the occasional whimper. Which once more reminded Lucy of a puppy. So she then looked over to Johann. "This pup really doesn't have many manners. What should we do with him?" She questioned Johann.

Johann had figured there might be some push back from the boy but he also figured he might be too dumbfounded to do much of anything. Johann did consider just walking off as he heard the slight kerfuffle that broke out but instead he turned to watch Lucy put the werewolf in his place. Robin did not take the easy way out so it appeared it was time to teach this dog how to heel.

Johann considered the pinned werewolf. They could skin him, something to alarm the remaining werewolves but well, that was a bit messy and time consuming. They could rip a few teeth out, would help stop him biting anyone but Johann Didn’t have any pliers on his person and putting their hands near his mouth was bound to get them bit. “Dogs shouldn’t be let off leash, collar him” he suggested. “The others should fall in line once they knew we have one of their own” And he’d never seen the collar put on a werewolf, would he be trapped in wolf form or transformed back into a human? Or maybe it wouldn’t stop it, not the right sort of magic, but Johann did have a chain on him so he could leash Robin as well.

”You really should’ve listened to my sister when you had the chance” Johann murmured and pulled out a knife. They had to show they meant business and if they got this wolf to bleed, the others would realise they were in danger and hopefully hand over the girls. Johann didn’t plan to do any real damage though, he went to casually slice Robin’s side, not enough to do anything major but should be enough to make him bleed and the werewolves, if they didn’t see it, should smell the blood.

Robin was whimpering and snarling and struggling to escape Lucy. Not that it did much good. Lucy had dealt with far stronger creatures then him. So at Johann's suggestion she was reaching into her pocket. It was a good thing she had made sure to bring collars. The two needed them if they were to catch Garter and Mari. She watched as Johann neared, Could hear Robin begin to yelp as the knife went across him. The wound was hardly that bad. But it was clear Robin was scared. Tail tucked tightly between his legs. Lucy then leaned down. Careful not to get bit as she put the collar tightly around his neck. Hoping to make it uncomfortable.

It didn't take long before the magic was taking hold. She could see Robin's form begin to shift. Lucy then chose to step off him. Taking a amused step backwards as Robin was taking the form of a human. Obviously confused. His side hurt. Lucy could already see the blood seeping threw his shirt. But he was soon reaching for the collar. Pulling on it and trying to get it off. Struggling to shift back, And for a brief moment Lucy thought he might succeed. The boys nails turning more like claws and teeth sharper. But in the end, Robin was forced back into his human form.

Oh, He was very obviously scared. Breathing quickened as he finally let go of the collar and pushed himself back. Wincing from his injury. "What... What did you do to me? " He whined. Soon pushing himself far enough that his back was to a nearby tree. Lucy watched him with little worry though. In this form he was as helpless as a human. Clearly being unable to shift was scaring him. He was practically trembling! Lucy then moved her way closer. Reaching down and Gripping the collar. Yanking up and forcing Robin on his feet. Ignoring his question. Lucy then glanced over towards Johann. Saying teasingly. "I don't think we've ever caught a doggy before. " Or Well, Actually, They'd probable killed werewolves before. But Lucy had never collared one before. Frankly she was surprised it even worked! She could not recall any wolves in her mothers collection. Perhaps her mother disliked the smell? Or maybe this one was weak enough that the collar actually worked on him? She was uncertain, But supposed it didn't matter for the moment.

Robin was not some big bad wolf, he was a puppy caught up in a fight he didn’t understand. He was paying the price for it now though and Johann seemed satisfied at the blood and the effect of the collar. The smell of copper in the air was delicious but the fear was even more so. Robin, who hadn’t been a threat before now, had become even more defenceless and Johann wondered if he’d start crying. Johann was almost salivating at the pretty picture it all made.

The fact that Eve had no werewolves in her collection was hardly a surprise but, if their mother didn’t want him, perhaps the twins could have him. Johann let himself scan Robin almost hungrily. The wet dog smell was not at all nice but Johann had heard whispered that werewolf blood was meant to be fantastic. He found it a little hard to believe but maybe the complete dominance over their enemies was what made it taste so good. Johann let his steely gaze go past Lucy and focus on Robin as he replied “that’s because misbehaving dogs get put down” and that was a threat. Robin was alive, for now, he should relish it whilst he could.

They had bigger fish to fry though, or well bigger werewolves to catch so he turned to continue further, trusting Lucy to pull along their new companion. It couldn’t be far and oh look, there was a cabin. How quaint. The werewolves must be nearby, likely inside if they hadn’t already scattered but surely they wouldn’t leave without their little brother! No, Robin really had put them all in incredible danger.
