posting can start! || interest check here: .error [a fantasy video game rp]

• the rp will start at around 11pm (23:00) wos standard time ic! (the wos global server goes on it's own time!)
• when it hits 12am (00:00) ic, the "blackout" will happen!
• after the blackout happens, everyone wakes up in the starting town (Uwharia) not as their avatars, but their real selves!
• no one is able to log out of the game.

- godmodding is out of the question, unless you get permission.
- metagaming is annoying. when someone posts that they're telling a lie and they're good at it, or they're putting on a facade and they're good at it, don't have your character immediately sense something is off unless you get permission.
- rpn rules apply. this one's obvious.
- please move the plot forward with your posts.

July, 2030 • 22:55 in-game

The update had completed. Normally it wouldn’t have been a big deal, but considering that the game was down for many hours, people were happy to be able to log back on. Not only that, but the update was juicy in content, which fired up the players (especially the end-game ones, now that they had more to do).

Upon logging on, however, players were greeted with a message from the game developers that the new content would officially be available at 00:00 WoS-Standard time, which was in about an hour. No one payed mind to it though and continued doing what they could, running dungeons or grinding for levels.

Choi Woo Jin. That was his name–but everyone just called him Byeol. Online, however, he was known as Yume, or the founder of the well-known guild Reimageddon, one filled with end-game players and elitists from all over the world (hence it’s fairly bad reputation). Another thing: a dude playing as a girl.

The boy returned to his room from the kitchen with a bowl of Shin instant ramen and a pair of metallic chopsticks when Warriors of Soul: Eternal Flight’s update had finished on his end. In Gwangju, South Korea, it was 4 in the morning (11 pm WoS Time || 3 pm EST || 5 am AEDT, etc) and Woo Jin was wide wake compared to how he was around noon–a perfect example of someone whose gaming addiction ruined their sleeping schedule. This was how life normally was for him, though; a diet of instant food and a lack of a social life after he graduated from high school and started college... well, he did have his roommates, but all of them were sport-obsessed and typical "jocks". He found it weird that said roommates actually got along with him.

Not too long into logging onto his main, he noticed that most of the names in his friends list were greyed out–meaning they weren't online. This caused him to wonder around for a bit, leveling up his alchemy and warlock skills, before ultimately he ended up partying up with another player named Beau. While deciding on what they would do, they found themselves in a field-boss area, thinking, ‘hey, why not just grind gold for a bit?’ which is how the two spent about 10 minutes of their time. When they finished, Woo Jin slurped up some of his ramen and typed into the party chat.

Yume: Hey Beau, should we wait for another to respawn or do we want to do something else?

Yume: Like a dungeon or something.

Waiting for Beau to respond, he leaned back in his chair, casually looking over some quests he still had to do while continuing to consume his food.

Murlynd
|Real Name : Gillian Dermitt | Level : 15 | Day : 0 | Time : 22 : 55 : 23 | Location : Norcliffe Hall Dorms, Lagunita Court, Stanford University |

Gillian read the patch notes on the monitor of her computer with a sigh; the updates wouldn't come into force for another hour. She was looking for any excuse not to grind another alternate up to top level -- believe it or not, despite her love of the game, playing through all of the content for the fifty-eighth time was beginning to grate on her nerves -- but at this point, it was all she had to do. She had no tests to study for; the college year was over. She didn't have any friends or a "real" job, and she didn't feel like wasting time on the internet, considering that's all she had been doing while the update was being applied. Besides, why not spend the time doing something that will eventually net a nice paycheck to go towards her tuition, especially considering how much the school was scalping her for? Any way she sliced it, she realized she had no excuse to start doing to some grinding. With a sigh, she opened a cluttered drawer on her mess of a computer table, and began digging around. She was looking for a pad of legal paper, a very specific one at that, and she found it quick enough; a legal pad with an extensive list of alts, along with the absurdly long passwords she assigned to each one. Now, who do I want to be today? She thought to herself, as she went down the list, contemplating each one.

Right off the bat, she immediately crossed BlackBahamut the Knight and CloakedAvandra the Assassin off of the list, both of which she had already grinded to max level and sold rather quickly, as they were both classes that were typically popular in MMOs. She looked at Kord23 the Slayer for a moment, but only just, remembering why his username was Kord23; she had to play that damnable class nineteen times before because Slayers sold like hotcakes (with the other three Kords being made by people that weren't her). 3hlonna the Archer and M0radin the Howitzer were also tempting, as she hadn't played a mundane range class in a while, but she wasn't feeling like bows or cannons. That was when her attention was drawn to Murlynd the Gunslinger.

Murlynd was interesting, to say the least. Like Lolth, he was one of the rare cases where a neckbeard couldn't snatch the username up before her, and she was quite happy that she did. Unlike Lolth, however, Murlynd was an absolute bitch to play as using VR. It was clearly a class made for the computer era of Warriors of Soul; dual wielding just doesn't feel right, because, while it looks cool in games and movies, it's just not something you're supposed to be able to do practically. Sure, people do it, sometimes even in real life, but she just couldn't overcome the barrier in her mind that's existed in her mind since her tween years, when her dad taught her to shoot a .22 rifle. Before she even fired her first shot, her dad told her, "never, ever, ever fire a gun one-handed, even if it's a handgun, and especially don't try'n shoot two at the same time. You'll just miss with both, or worse." Since then, holding a gun one-handed has always felt weird, and it's been more than a bit of a roadblock to her; the character has just been sitting there for the past two years, almost as long as she's been selling accounts -- though not nearly as long as she's been playing -- soaking up subscription fees for Warriors of Soul, and giving back nothing in return. Fuck it, she thought, I've probably already sunk, what, five hundred bucks paying subscriptions on that account? Might as well grind it up and get rid of it. And so, she committed to playing Murlynd for the next hour, not realizing what she was about to get herself into. She opened up the launch menu for Warriors of Soul, typed 'Murlynd' into the username field and the absurd password in, and booted up the game. She treaded lightly over to her bed in her dorm, gingerly putting her headset on and letting herself drift off, into the game world...

Upon immediately finding herself in Uwharia, she was struck by sudden disorientation. She sat her character--ahem, well, herself--down on the ground, trying to relax her thoughts. She knew why it happened, it was common enough to her; at the time she made the character, she made Murlynd a good foot taller than she actually was. Now that she had grown since then, the difference was a little less staggering at about six inches, but it was still uncomfortable for her to feel so... stretched, so suddenly. She looked down at herself; her female body was now replaced by that of a rugged wild west sheriff. She unholstered her weapons, and looked into the polished reflection of one of her trusty pistols to see the face she wore now; the face of a grizzled, rough and tumble duelist, with a short yet respectable beard to boot, rather than the comparatively unthreatening ginger mug she donned in the real world. She opened her menu, to be greeted by counters for quests long forgotten, and looked through her gear; basic noob crap, as one would expect, save for the guns. The guns were actually dungeon loot from several levels ahead that she just barely met the requirements for, which she gifted to herself from Lolth. They certainly weren't the best, otherwise Murlynd wouldn't be able to use them and she would have sold them on the market, but it's not like a level twenty gunslinger would be opposed to using them. She remembered how Murlynd got them; she got so fed up with trying to grind with Murlynd, that she actually went out of the way to run through the dungeon where the guns dropped over and over just to get the set, despite being well overleveled for it. Oh, those were the days, she thought. She then closed her menu, glad that this process might be made slightly easier by the decent weaponry.

Now, where-oh-where to grind? She thought sarcastically to herself, despite the fact nobody could hear. She already knew where she was going; she's known for the past fifty-eight playthroughs.

The incessant sound of the elderly man's gums as they smacked against their pearly dentures, molding glue having worn off long before, as he spoke in telltale rasps was nerve grating. And usually, the glasses bearing girl would love nothing more than imagining ripping the porcelain bones from the old man's jaws and casting them over the cliff which they stood beside. However, this day was not like most other days for Darah, the girl in question, was in an unreasonably good mood. Good enough that she stood almost bouncing in place as she felt her phone vibrating in her pocket. "Its done!" She cried out shortly, interrupting the man's chatter of his housemates snoring and his wife's nagging about visiting their children in the fall. Reaching out with a boney ivory hand she grabbed the steaming Chai which the man had just managed to put a lid on, with his wrinkled hands telling a story of an earthquake despite the land being still. Slamming her cash down with her free hand she turned to dash, "Keep the change." Darah called over her shoulder as she made her way up the many slopes to her humble hut of a bungalow, leaving the poor man squinting in her wake glancing between her and the fifty laid before him. "It's only $15.."

Long gone the woman smashed through the door a small squee of joy trapped somewhere inside her chest as she locked her doors deadbolt and slid over to her desk to boot up her desktop, moments later she was at the login screen and then the loading. Tea discarded on the desk, Darah slipped on a pair of oversized sweats and a sweatshirt over her jeans and longsleeve Tee. Skidding back to her station she plopped down in her chair slipping on her headset with an eerie grin of joy.

A twinge of disappointment filled her as she noticed most people were offline causing a slight wrinkle in her hopes, however, it was swept away as she noted the newest additions in advancements and set to work. She trained her healing for a bit growing satisfied with the advancement, before settling into her farmland to work on her livestock. "Ah, my precious deals' on meals'." She giggled not thinking much of what she was doing as she checked each animal like a fruit for its ripeness.

Killian Mikhail

Location: Coffee Shop~ Home~Uwharia
Mentions: None

Killian was closing the small coffee shop he worked in when his phone started to buzz. After locking the door he reached in his back pocket to fish out the phone to stop the buzzing. "Holy Crap the update is finish" he practically screamed before taking off into a sprint down the narrow side walk. a few moments later he was running through the front door of his apartment, throwing off his shoes, and practically flying to his computer. Once he sat down his hands flew across the keyboard "User name, FrostBite" he mumbled and then typed in his rather long twenty-three character password. He hit the enter button as hard as he could and waited until his character loaded up. FrostBite loaded into the game with his long grey cloak and broad sword wit his scabbard on his back. "welp, guess ill go try to raise my level abit until the updates take effect" he mumbled before walking off. Eventually he made it to a low level dungeon "hm maybe I can get some new swords from here" he drew his sword walking into the dungeon with the intent on clearing it. A little later he walked out of the dungeon with nothing to show but gold "well that was a bust" he mumbled walking back into town figuring he could work on his blacksmithing skill line for awhile. He spent the rest of his time hammering hot metal into long swords, broad swords, knives, daggers, and a bunch of other things. His skill level was low so the weapons weren't all that strong but he was determined to make a sword that he could be proud of.

Mahia looked at the heavy brow door that laid in front of her. She took in a deep breath her trembling hand rose slowly to perform a knock. Before contact could be made the door flew open catching both, Mahia and the figure standing behind the door by surprise. She let out a sigh ,not knowing she was holding her breath, as the wide eyed curly haired girl in the doorway started laughing. Mahia had made very few friends at the International Islamic Academy for girls, one of them being Umu.

“ Assalamualaikum” Umu whispered with a huge smile on her sun beaten face. She was filipino, a rare sight at the school, and spoke little Arabic.
“And unto you peace” Mahia replied in English. Only Arabic was allowed to be spoken amongst each other, but it was late at night and no instructors were around. Mahia twiddled with her hands, too timid to make eye contact, “I...was wondering if-if you…” She began to stumble over her words, her thick accent making it difficult to articulate well. The young Filipino girl just laughed, taking Mahia by the hand and walking her down the moonlit hallway. Hand holding was a common thing between people of the same sex in Mahia’s culture. Despite the normality of this act, Mahia couldn't help but to think this was different. Her heart raced and her thoughts became muddled.

“Hey Mahia, Why do you cover your hair around me?” Uma had stopped there walk ,centering them underneath a skylight. “Come on” Umu reached out her hand to remove Mahia’s head scarf “It’s not like I can marry you…” Mahia grabbed her head snatching herself away.

“I-I have to go.” Mahia took off down the hallway, not stopping until she was safe in her own room. She always became this way around Umu.

Mahia slumped down in her gaming chair twirling around as her game decided to update. A little ping caught her attention as she made a final rotation to face her screen. She reached for her headset as a message came upon the screen about new content. She put her headset down, wanting to just play the game for once and enjoy it for itself. It has been a while since she had just played a game for fun. Everything in her life was always a competition. When she had first started video games it was a way to escape her hectic life. Her father’s constant nagging had become overbearing, and her three older brothers had become the golden children for sports, school, and arts. Mahia just wanted to enjoy her youth, something she only ever go the chance to do when she was sent away for the summer to visit her grandmother in America. It was her constant pleading and unhappiness that drove Mahia’s grandmother to request that she be put in a boarding school. The academy was strict, and she was constantly overwhelmed by their academic demands, but she enjoyed the time away from her father. As midnight crept near she had found herself finishing up a boss battle with a random dungeon group from her guild. She wasn’t a fan of playing as a support character, but the healer had grown on her. Plus a member of her guild has been crafting her an entire set of clothes in exchange for her services.

Thanks Beast, I sent your new threads to your inbox.

"Look who came to visit." a woman's voice called from the other side of the monitor as a brunette walked in holding a small child, causing Evelyn to light up. "Ah!, mon petit! He's getting so big!" she cooed as Sam, her guild leader took the child into his arms. "Say hi to auntie Eve!" He lifted the baby's hand, making him wave as he smiled happily at Evelyn. "You all need to come visit again, I miss him and of course you guys." She chuckled before waving goodbye as his mother took him away. "We'd love to but I don't think you understand how expensive tickets cost for an entire family to fly to Lyon and back to Colorado." Sam laughed and shook his head. "Then let me help pay for the tickets, you know you're all like family." She argued, sitting up in her chair now. "Oh please you just want your little buddy so the two of you can eat pastrami or whatever it was." His statement made Evelyn burst out laughing. "Its profiterole, and he loved it! I wasn't the one who tried to feed him escargot." She protested, rolling her eyes at the man as she went on to recall their first visit out here. She set her glasses to the side as she checked the update progress. Halfway there which was better than where they started.

"I do miss you guys, and Heather doesn't play as much anymore! which I understand because of the little one but still I miss talking to you guys." She whined but was soon stopped by Sam. "Just fly out here then miss big bucks, you can stay with us and you can see your what was it mon petit?" She thought for a moment then shrugged a bit. "Bien, I'll start looking for tickets after-" She was cut off by a chime from her computer, alerting her hat the update was finished, and a few seconds after she heard it from Sam's side as well. The two nodded at each other before ending the video call, they would of course pick up later in game.

She input 'Asherah" in the username and quickly typed in her password rather quickly into the computer, grabbing her headset from beside her monitor and leaning back in her gaming chair before loading into the game. "Finally I'm home!" she shouted as she stretched out, loading up her friends list to see everything still grey which meant even Sam hadn't logged on yet but of course he had important things to take care of IRL. She spawned in a pretty low level town so maybe she'd just hang around the low level fields to grind for some materials just to sell until some more people logged on. She sighed before typing into the world chat.

Asherah: Anyone doing dungeon runs?

Nádúr Ulster

“It’s already 8.” The calm tone flowed into existence amongst the hums and soothing sounds of nature. Just under a hill, a lovely garden played host to alll manner of creatures. Critters that flew, crawled, walked, and even slithered. The low sun welcomed all of them and at the same time, banished some. “I’m heading inside!” The bushes rustled as his rising voice sent a small animal fleeing back to its borough. The bees didn’t seem too bothered however and they happily circled the black mane atop, Nádúr’s head. He had spent so much time in this garden and the pollen experts were the actual residents with their manmade beehives just a few feet away. With a great deal of caution, he rose up from the dirt and flower petals. A light breeze whipped through the loose fitting tank-top and shorts that he wore. It’s cool touch sent the bees fluttering back to the Queen while, Nádúr’s grey gaze went up to the horizon. A large city in the distance glee bright enough to rival the sunset and wasn’t loud enough to compete with a volcanic eruption. But that’s wasn’t what he looked at. No, he looked to the silhouette of a woman in a rocking chair. “Don’t forget the bees, Mom.” His words only got him a quick wave of her hand.

“Oh well.” As he turned on the balls of his bare feet, his hair swayed to the left before it bounced back in place. Without further delay, he started up the steep side of their hill towards their cozy home a time the top. Though random, jagged rocks punished him for not using the wooden steps, Nádúr carried on. Up on this mountain it wasn’t just the two of them. Anyone else was too far away to be considered a neighbor. It was thanks to that’s fact that he had gotten into online gaming. Behind him, the rickety, wooden door clapped a few times before it finally closed, only to remain ajar just enough to allow a bug or a field mouse in. Meanwhile, bare feet padded across the floor and tracked specs of dark dirt through the house. Numerous doormats around the home were useless now as they’d needed the be replaced ages ago or at least cleaned. But the two of them didn’t mind tracking the outside in with them. Upon entering his room, Nádúr yawned dramatically and buried his hand into his nest of hair. “Let’s check the new update thing.” Carelessly, he collapsed down onto his bed where his gaming laptop lay. Aside from a television and a house phone, it was the only piece of technology the two of them owned.

There was another humming sound, but this time it wasn’t from a bee. The laptop started up and the lights illuminated, Nádúr’s face as he watched the screen come to life. Legs folded over one another, he laid his face in his left hand and sighed softly as his elbow dug into his thigh. “Let’s see what’s new.” The game started up and displayed hi s character, Crow, on the screen. The message sent from the developers were disappointing, but he was patient. “Let’s fiind some new friends.” Nádúr wasn’t a solo player, so his friends list was very, very short, but the friends he inteded to make, were animals. As a, Tamer, he kept animals by his side at all times, even when he didn’t plan to engage in combat; they were just good company. “Now to wait.”

Iris Cooper (Beau)
Location: Bedroom

Iris dried her hair as much as she could with the towel, trowing it on top of the bed after she was done. Nothing like a good bath and clean clothes to make her feel sluggish after training. She should feel a lot more exhausted and sore but it had been a good day and she was doing it more as a way to pass the time than anything else while the game finished updating. After all it was summer (whatever that meant in England) and she had decided she would enjoy it this time, do something that wasn't study or work for a change. That meant she was spending a lot more time online than she normally would but the game was interesting and had her hooked. The house was strangely quiet now that most of her house mates were somewhere having their vacations. She was the only one to stay in the house during the summer, either because she had classes and exames until a much later time than most people or because she a job nearby and it was more comfortable to just stay. Slipping into some very comfortable workout pants and a jumper she made her way to her computer, logging in as Beau.

----------------------

She had been playing for a little while with Yume. Having finished all the enemies in the area they now need something else to do, that's when Yume texted her. Iris was a bit too impatient, more than a bit if she was being honest and that person that "loved to economize time" as she often put it. Maybe it was a ingrain habit for always having so much to do that time had to be well spent or just because she liked everything to move fast. But Iris was one of those people that would use the voice chat to answer anything. Opening the mic, she hummed for a little in thought before answering "Well it was bloody fast wasn't it? Maybe we could use a bit more of a challenge yeah? Let's go to the dungeon in Silver Lake, south entrance! Meet you there" her tone of voice light and fast, with an heavy British accent. Without really waiting for Yume to give her opinion, Iris just had Beau go ahead and fast travel to the location. She was a bit away just so she wouldn't engage in battle before the warlock arrived. To pass the time Beau was petting her wolf companion, Fayel, that was almost as tall as her character, with a pure white fur that had painting red lines across the whole body and completely black eyes. She had him as a companion for a long time now but she hadn't come across to any other creature that she felt so strongly about in the game. Now Beau just had to wait until Yume got here so they could continue playing. At a distance she could tell she wasn't the only one in the area, spotting an assassin moving to the dungeon entrance alone.

Username: Rolly

IRL: Nikk Macintosh

Lvl 27 Assassin

“Yes ma’am. No, I understan…. Alrighty, I will see you soon ok?” Nikk spoke with a tenderhearted voice into the phone. “Alrighty mama. I love you. Bye!” He hit the end call button before she could start talking about anything else. When the college quarter came to an end, the young adult had the choice of going home for the summer or help split the cost of a beach house with three others. Obviously taking the latter, his mom called her only son at least every other day. Nikk was so excited when he was offered the option to spend a summer with ‘the bros’ because making friends was, for lack of a better term, an everyday struggle. However, soon after everyone had moved in and paid, it became clear that the only reason Nikk was invited was to help split the cost. They were not at all rude to Nikk, yet he felt the disconnect when the three would all go to parties or have parties and never really be asked or invited. ‘Its whatever, that’s not me. Parties and getting drunk…. I’ll find friends more my speed soon.’

Putting the phone down, Nikk pulled into the driveway to see the newly rented home empty and said a small prayer. Stepping out of his car, he grabbed the groceries he bought for himself and made his way up the steps. Nikk made his way into his room and shut the door, sealing himself off in his sanctuary, away from the rest of the world. Golden rule: no one is allowed in someone else’s room without permission. So Nikk knew this was his space, his safe place. After stocking the minifridge beside his desk, he put on some Goody Grace (Optional: link to song in spoiler below) and stared at his mess of a desk. On it were things you’d expect: gaming computer, speakers, little pop figures and collectables. But scattered messily across the desk was also lots of papers, many with scribbling, sketches, notes and lots of gibberish.

Booting up his pc, Nikk attempted to organize these papers into some kind of semi-efficient order. “The setting and characters are first, sketches next, then the rough plot, then…” Nikk often muttered out loud when working or meshing out hard problems. The papers in front of him were part of a story he was developing, one of kings and queens in a far-off land of mythical creatures and the supernatural. Ever since he was young, writing and drawing had been pastimes he always found joy in. First it started with zombie stories, then in the teen years it was action romance, and lately Nikk has taken an interest in fantasy. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Narnia; He realized he could be anyone he wanted to be, make a world that was anything he wanted to make it with very little limiting factors.

This is one of the reasons Nikk took interest in the new MMORPG Warrior of Soul. Not so much for the gameplay, but the extensive world it takes place in. From what he heard from other players, its unlike any other MMO out there. After checking it out for the first time, he was in awe of the beauty and vastness of this new, unknown world. He hadn’t been playing for long before the announcement of a major update came out. Just like everyone else, he had waited for the update, although he had plenty else to do since it was more of a inspiration for him than a pastime, a cure for writers block. Once separated enough to make him happy, sat back and thought of the world he was trying to put on paper. An alert coming from both his phone and computer that interrupted his thoughts, letting him know the update was finally over and it would come into effect at midnight in game. ‘That’s not to far from now, if I remember the in-game to east coast time zone difference.’ Nikk scooted up his chair, accessing his pc and launching WoS. ‘Maybe the update will give me something to write about.’

Logging into his only character Rolly, named after his hometown of Raleigh North Carolina, Nikk spawned into a town he recognized. It was in a beautiful lush forest region, Silver something or another, he didn’t really know too much about. Normally if he were playing just to play, Nikk would’ve tried meeting people, making friends, checked his friend list, but right now he gave himself the excuse of working. He needed to jumpstart his imagination. He could’ve used his map, but he was on a journey of adventure and exploration. Knowing solo combat was not his class’s specialty, Nikk made sure to stay quiet, keeping his silence skill active to not draw any attention. The environment around him was so beautiful, it was a wonder to thing it was just a game. He couldn’t imagine of it was in VR, something he could not afford. Walking aimlessly around he spotted animals and enemies, immersing himself in what it would be like to live here, eventually stumbling upon what he believed as a dungeon. ‘Well every knight must do his quest, else where would the juice be.’ Figuring a beautiful place like this would have easy enemies, maybe even some awesome loot or other players already inside, he drew his dual daggers and poisoned then with some bottles he bought from a player shop a while back. And with that, he entered the dungeon.

“GWAH!” Cass yelled out as she thrusted her spear into the small creature, killing it.

[---LEVEL UP! LV.5!---]

“Ugh. It’s been an hour and I am only level five. This game is shit. What the hell are you spending your time on?!” Cass gruffed out as she put her spear on her back. Video games sucked, they always have to Cass. Despite that. Violet had somehow convinced her to play this. Maybe because they both had nothing to do on their day off, or the fact that Violet had already bought the game before asking Cass to play it with her. How was Cass supposed to refuse when Violet had already bought the game? Cass knew Violet knew this when she had bought the game.

“Can’t believe you talked me into this you little shit. Yes that is a short jab.”

Violet flinched just a little at Cass’s sudden remark, but recovered quick enough to offer the girl a patent smile. She knew Cass didn’t mean it. “It’s slow at the beginning but don’t give up on it! Just wait until you get a few more levels and you’ll feel like a real knight! You’ll be able to fight real enemies, like drakes and forest trolls!”

Despite the short insult joke directed at her, Violet was tall and willowy as she walked up to the knight. That is, PurpleRain, her avatar, was quite tall. She opened up the inspection window and took a gander at Cass’s gear and stats. Violet lightly pressed a finger to her chin while she read. “You’re a knight so you should get your next class ability in…” she squinted at the text, doing some minute guesswork. “..um… in 4 levels?”

Cass gave Violet a blank stare not saying anything.

“No wait, sorry. Make that 5. I was confusing it with archers.”

“YOU GOTTA BE JOKING! WHAT AM I WASTING MY DAMN TIME ON!” Cass began mumbling swear words under her breath as she glared at the ground.

“Last time I go out of my way to play a game with you. I am gonna stick with chess.” Cass let out a pained sigh as she slumped down on the ground.

It was almost comical to see what appeared to be a hardened knight (which Cass had spent 3 hours customizing) keel over in defeat, but Violet suppressed her laughter and knelt beside her friend. “You couldn’t even sit through the first five moves of chess last time.” she said, “Besides, it’s not about the levels! That’s what people are missing these days. It’s about the journey to greatness, not the goal itself. Would you really want to start playing at the max level with a character whose story you hadn’t made?”

“Yes.” Cass replied dully.

“No!” Violet exclaimed, “That’s missing the entire point of the game!”

“I don’t care about the game though, I will only be playing it when you force me to, so why does it matter?”

Violet’s shoulders sagged a little and her expression sombered. She hadn’t told Cass just how excited she had been to be able to share this world with, to show all the beautiful secrets most players didn’t take the time to find. It had been so long since she had anybody to adventure with and she couldn’t describe the unrelenting joy she felt well up in her chest just by seeing the words[2 members online] in Frost Watch’s member list.

Cass’s eyes didn’t miss Violet’s face saddening slightly at her words. Cass let out a long sigh before jumping up. She made her way over to her friend and roughly patted her shoulder.

“Alright fine, 1 more hour then we are ordering a pizza and watching some lotr got it!”

A huge smile spread on Violet’s face, “Deal!” she laughed in excitement, “Come on… I know an awesome quest in the next town. If we cut through this forest we'll get there in no time!”

The boy didn't need to give a response, which Beau seemed to also take note of. Immediately after the two confirmed a location to meet up at they wasted no time going towards it. Woo Jin pressed his F1 key to summon one of the many mounts he had–mind you that his main usage of these mounts were for inventory space–named Oshan, a deer made of white glowing crystal and had snowy effects. This was one of his first ever event-obtained mounts, the event he got it from being a Christmas one from back in the South Korean server before he finally decided to transfer to global. It was a fast, one-person mount that could carry someone a really long way in the matter of a few minutes–and that’s exactly what it did this time.

Not too soon after Beau arrived, Woo Jin also made it to Silver Lake Dungeon, a dungeon whose entrance was located in the middle of the pristine looking lake and descended into underground. A lot of end-game players would argue that the aesthetics of the dungeon were too good for just a low leveled one, but it was also one of the open-world hangout spots you could find various people located near, just socializing and having a fun time. Unsummoning the mount, Woo Jin made Yume run over to catch up with Beau, typing a quick emote into the party chat that meant something along the lines of ‘Hey, I’m here, let’s go’.

Upon taking the stairs down to the lobby room of the dungeon, the two players wasted no time running up onto the little step-up platform that people called an ‘altar’. Every dungeon entrance had these altars with statues in front of them, and whenever a player dropped a random item or a specific pass, they would be teleported to the actual start of the dungeon (normal being random item dropped, any other difficulty meaning that specific pass dropped). A few dungeons had the function where if someone dropped the same random item as someone who was still in the dungeon, they would be teleported to the same exact dungeon as the first player even if they weren’t in a party.

Woo Jin merely blinked deciding what difficulty they were going to do. He was the current party leader and thus, was the one who had to drop the item onto the altar, but it wasn’t like he had some passes for a dungeon he long since moved on from. He just went with a mere 1 gold, dragging it from his inventory and letting it go from there–teleporting both Yume and Beau into the dungeon.

...

Yume: … Looks like someone else decided to drop the same thing I did.
Yume: Lets leave and come back in again

Woo Jin’s eyes briefly glazed over the first room, which was empty. Normally it would have been filled with various enemies to defeat and the door to continue would have been blocked off, but it was wide open. Anyways, as soon as Yume moved slightly, the screen displayed the tag and the low HP of a player named ‘Rolly’, who from the looks of things, decided to solo the dungeon. The name seemed pretty familiar to him and with more inspection he came to the realization that Rolly was already added to his friends list, even though he didn’t have much of a recollection of how he added them in the first place.

Yume: On second thought, they look like they’re having trouble ^ ^;;;
Yume: We could help them since this place is only level 30 or so?
Yume: Apparently I already met them so that’s more of a reason to?

|Real Name : Gillian Dermitt | Level : 15 | Day : 0 | Time : 22 : 56 : 48 | Location : En route to Brightmoore from Uwharia |

Not a lot of people know Gillian well, not even her siblings. The people that do know her, however, would tell you that when she boots up Warriors of Soul, she becomes a method actor. When she plays the game, she doesn't just play the character, she feels the character. For a few hours, she becomes the person she puppeteers in the game. So, if anyone she knew were there with her on the road to Brightmoore, none of them would be remotely surprised by what she said next in spite of how it was particularly vulgar even for her, especially considering what she saw on her way to a great grindspot she knew about on the outskirts of Brightmoore.

"Well, I'll be dipped in shit," Gillian said. She was briefly taken aback by how surprisingly gruff her voice was until she remembered she was playing a male character, but it paled in comparison to the utter shock she felt to see the faction tag of "Frost Watch" over someone's head; an apparent archer by the name of PurpleRain. Indeed, she hadn't seen a person from Frost Watch in nearly three years; at this point, she thought the guild was gone, defunct, yet here stood a remnant, and it seemed she was trying to recruit a new rookie, to boot. Her mind was flooded with questions; What has the guild been up to? Where have the old guildmasters (She had known three over the lifespan of the guild) gone to? Is Frost Watch active anymore? She had a feeling little was left of Frost Watch, but, considering she worked closely with one of the people that eventually became a guildmaster, she was a little more than intrigued.

Gillian made Murlynd strike a brisk pace up to the two people, and she opened her mouth to say, "Howdy strangers! Can't say I honestly expected to see a member of Frost Watch after all this time, but I ain't complainin'."

[Dovan]

"Grrgh...I'll win this time!" Dovan stated with confidence as he placed his deck, he lost five times in a row, but not now, a straight flush, he smirked at his sister knowing that his victory is decided but then, all of those confidence goes down the drain when it's her sister's turn to show hers "Jokes on you!" His sister, Delilah, showed him a Royal Flush, Dovan's jaw dropped trying to comprehend what just happened, this is the point where he thought that he's not cut out for luck-based games. Delilah stretched while Dovan is unable to believe her luck is on the level where insta-death skills are broken "It was fun...beating you that is" she laughed and was on her way to her room to sleep "Oh right, don't you have a tournament to attend next week?" Delilah asked Dovan, the game was an FPS game but supposedly, he plans to play Warriors of Soul until morning comes, he never get to play the game seriously "Yeah...but I have to play the game I bought 3 days ago...I'm still Level 3 after all" he answered Delilah, her sister looked at Dovan with concern only to reply with a sigh "Try not to overdo it okay?" Delilah closed the door to her room with only Dovan left in the living room "I know..." he mumbled before going back to his own bedroom, his PC is on sleep mode so it was easy to turn it back on. He sat on his CZRaser gaming chair that he won 5 months ago and looked at the multiple monitors in front of him, he turned the lights off and launched WoS.

[D0X] [Level 3 Witch Doctor]

He logged in to his first created female character [D0X], he bought this game because to him, it seem interesting and different than the other MMORPGs he played, after spawning in an Inn where he last logged out with his party, a window appeared in front of the screen "A new update?" he read every detail, he just started playing the game and an update is already announced, he has a lot to catch up to. "I guess it was a good idea to stay up late" he stated before closing the window, the update starts around midnight in-game so maybe he'll wait for the update or find someone to party since Witch Doctor is a support class that has no solo potential, unless he finds an exploit but that'll be for another day. Remembering that he chose the Alchemist as a subclass, it wasn't an option, he has no materials and has to buy one from Merchants or ask for materials to his Gatherer friend, but all of them were offline coming to the conclusion that they were practicing for the tournament next week. D0X walks out the Inn and the bright light shone, sunlight and a bustling low-level town, Dovan with his now narrowed eyes, opened his menu screen and clicked on settings to reduce the brightness "Geez, this game never cease to amaze me" he complimented the game before closing the menu. D0X moved to another area and what caught his eye is a Level 73 player with the username [Asherah], this is a low-level town and what's a level 73 doing here? Not really his business until he looked at the world chat and saw a post with the same username, is she boosting? Or maybe there is a Go to function if you're in a party. Dovan threw those thoughts away and moves his character near the High-leveled player, asking to form a party to go to another town, he chooses the Common chat where only those in the vicinity can see [Hello is it okay to form a party with you?] he pressed enter and a chat bubble appeared on top of [D0X]'s head "That was too formal...".

Thanks to her passive tracking ability, Violet's character was able to sense the gunslinger's approach, though she didn't think much of it. Many players passed through Brightmoore on their way to the Silver Lake dungeon due to its convenient location. It's local apothecary provided players a place to restock on healing items and the blacksmith was there to improve items before the dungeon or mend broken equipment in the aftermath that followed. The quests in the town were nothing to sneeze at either, most of which involved venturing into the Silver Lake dungeon itself. Generally speaking, it was a newbie's first 'hotspot' of activity. Consequently, there were two types of players typically found in the town; those keeping to themselves and players searching for a dungeon party. When the man slowed his stride to match their pace, Violet expected an encounter with the latter.

Needless to say, she was caught off guard by the mention of her guild.

Violet's surprise ebbed into PurpleRain's normally silky voice and summoned a puzzled expression on her face. "You... know of it?" she asked, brushing a lock of lilac hair out of her face to get a better look at the gunslinger. Her eyes went to the man's character level and frowned a bit. Too low for someone who had been around long enough to know about it.

Iris Cooper (Beau)
Bedroom
As Iris waited for Yume to make a decision on what item to drop, she noticed her cellphone blinking with a notification. After she went to check the sender of the text her mood drooped significantly, deciding not to open it, she threw it to the bed behind her. Figuring it was time to fully emerge herself on the game and let it cure her now sour mood, she putted the VR gear and browsed her library for a nice playlist. Since Yume didn't normally talk she figured it would be fine. Going for DEVIL by Shinedown, Iris started to singalong, mostly to herself as she adjust to the VR.

Once they entered the dungeon she looked around, appreciating the amount of detail the game developers putted in the environment. No wonder they took the industry by storm. They were more than good. Noticing that there were no creatures nearby she opened the mic again, making it possible to hear parts of the music if someone decided to pay attention, when she saw Yume's messages popping up in front of her. Looking around for the player she had mentioned, she noticed the very low HP bar, shrugged and started running to their direction while talking "I'm in the right mood to punch things" it sounded dark and little more than growl than she probably intended but Yume was probably used to it by now and if she wasn't Iris didn't care either way. Although to make up for her tone, she added, sounding now more playful and smug "Besides I make a good knight in a shiny armour, don't I?"

Beau was now between the creatures and the assassin, her dual-hand sword glistering with the torches around them. Baring their teeth to the warrior, the dragon like creatures started to surround her. Smiling to herself, Beau jumped and slashed one of them, killing it instantly. Well she was definitely too high level for this to be more than a child's play. Waiting a few seconds for her next move, Iris decided to use the whirlwind next, watching the creatures fall dead around her. Oh yes this helped with the tension she was feeling no doubt. There was still some creatures around her but Yume was helping and they would be done in no time, having two mid to high level players fighting creatures like those was almost comical.

Turning Beau around, totally ignoring the dragonlings bitting her legs and making a bit damage, she spoke to the new player, Rolly "Having a bloody death wish?!". Beau looked down to the creatures, having a small internal argument about hurting them when Fayel jumped to the fight and bite one down. She forgot she had him attacking automatically, sighing she went change the configurations before he got hurt.

"Yea, I guess you could say I knew them, though it would be more accurate to say I was a business partner," Gillian smirked; it was a more profitable time, when you could still get away with botting to grind gold to sell in the real world, and where mercenary work was actually handsomely rewarded. Nowadays, the anticheat system doesn't miss a beat, 100k gold can buy you a sheet of computer paper if the person you're selling the gold to is enough of a sucker, and the best mercenary work you could hope to get is being a ride along to a guild, since the game has been around long enough for plenty of people to be max level. Not at all coincidentally, that was around the time she started selling accounts instead of selling gold coins.

Gillian only let herself drift for a moment, as the girl was clearly unimpressed. "Oh, you wouldn't recognize me by this face," Gillian said, "I'm grinding a few alts while I'm waiting for the update to apply." She decided not to mention that her main is Lolth, as most people assume she's a man from the way she stands--a right bunch of master psychologists, huh--and she didn't want to seem weird for having a female account. It was about this time she got a bit self-conscious about her stance. "I've hung with them since Winter was still running the show, but I was never an official member," she added, as proof that she knew who Frost Watch is... or at least, unbeknownst to her, was.

Username: Rolly

IRL: Nikk Macintosh

Lvl 27 Assassin

"So maybe this knight will be slain..." Nikk muttered to himself while vigilantly defending himself. Or at least to the best of his ability. 'You're not a knight, you're an assassin. Immersion Nikk, ya idiot. An assassin wouldn't go a dungeon alone.' Nikk scolded himself. 'Well at least there isn't any real penalty for death...' Fresh out of health potions, wounded as well, Nikk was running out of options. But even in the face of death, he was happy. He came for the rush of inspiration he was hoping for. The attention to detail was spectacular, and that's exactly what Nikk decided his story needed. Quoting one of his favorite books, Nikk prepared to be slain for the first time in his 27 levels of WoS, "Death is just another path..."

Suddenly, he heard footsteps running up from behind. Before he realized what happened, two other players appeared and started clearing the room of enemies. He read their usernames as the girl in front of him sliced through his deadly advarsaries with such ease it looked like child's play. The butcher in front of him was named Beau, and she looked like she was having the time of her life. Glancing behind him, Nikk saw a familiar face, better yet a similar username, Yume. Puzzled as to why he found that name so fimilar, he thought back to his first couple parties on the ser...
"Having a bloody death wish?!" Nikk's thoughts were interrupted as Beau spoke to him while still in battle. The dragonlings still attacked, but she payed them no mind. Before he could speak, a rush of white fur brushed past him, chomping onto the creatures kibble. "Wow! That's so cool!" He exclaimed, resisting the urge to approach the great beast, "Thank you much! I guess I'm not too familiar with the game yet..." Doing a little bow emote to Beau before turning to Yume with a chuckle, "...and we've met before haven't we? Yeah, it was one of the first parties I ever joined I believe. It may have been only because you all needed a certain number of people in party to attempt the event dungeon, but either way, you remember me don't you? I'd be a gonner without y'all, anything I can do, just say it."

Cass blankly stared at the two standing in front of her having a conversation. Saying Cass could understand part of what they were saying would be a lie, she was very confused. Were all people who played this game this confusing when the spoke? Why must all gamers use this slang that no one but their kind understand, it is quite annoying. Cass flicked the back of Violet's head, "Yo, Purple! Mind enlightening me on what the frig you two are talking about?" Cass's tone held some annoyance in it as she spoke.

Cass never played video games like this one, so it was no surprise that she knew little to nothing about games like this. Cass and Violet spent a good 5 minuets earlier trying to get Cass to understand what HP was and how it worked in this. So the fact that Violet, who knew she knew nothing about this game (or games in general), was speaking in this video game slang in front of her annoyed Cass greatly. Cass impatiently waited for the answer to her question as she stared annoyed at the two players in front of her.

Yes mama, yes .. I love you too.
I'm embarrassed enough to just talk, let alone express myself.
Mom, please, I promise to use the food fund this month.

Sorry guys, I know this is long and all, I just had to uh.. Explain how this kid works since I myself get confused with all these personalities.

Pan into frame where a tall boy strolled down the streets which at this season were always dark regardless of the time, phone pressed to his ear as he followed the road. "Ja Mama, ja .. Ich liebe dich auch." His voice deep and thick like chocolate as he quietly muttered into his phone, his hair cast over his face hiding the blush rising up his cheekbones and staining his ears. A rumble from the other end of the device growled a biting response to his muffled statements with deepness resembling his own, his father finding it unlike him to be so shy about their affection. Easy enough for them to say. He thought to himself as he shuffled a little faster past other pedestrians down the winding path beholding the beauty of the Rhine, feeling as though all eyes were glued to his back pinpointing him, labling and marking him as a 'bitch'. "Dad, you know I love you guys." His exasperation hidden under a layer of puppy like begging in his tone, "Its just.. being known as a clingy mama's boy.. Ich bin peinlich genug, nur zu reden, geschweige denn, mich auszudrücken." Once again he contradicted his true feelings as he wanted to tell them how much he loved them and wished they would stay home so they could spend time together as a family, therefore his claims of embarrassment lead him to a silent struggle of odds. While his father seemed reluctant to drop the conversation, his mother let on a new topic explaining how she and his father had a trip to Mongolia in a few days rather than venturing back to Germany. A trip which would last a few months depending on the outcomes of their testing, as they are both rather scientifically inclined, "Perhaps" She said in glee her voice high pitched with a slight nasal echo, "It could even last a year!"
After fighting his silence and swallowing the bitterness of his lonely depression, Alex finished up his call with his parents as he reached their small tudor style home, which despite how it sounds is still quite large for a 3 person family, and felt even larger when the sole occupant was a affection reliant, clingy man. "Yes. Yes, I love you guys too. No, Yes, I promise. 엄마, 제발, 이번 달에 음식 기금을 사용할 것을 약속드립니다.." His tone slightly raised in annoyance as he used his mothers native tongue to calm her, and after being reprimanded once again he clicked his phone off as he shut and locked their front door, the click echoing the empty home like a gunshot in a tomb. Dread of being alone for a year began churning in his stomach as he realized he would once again be alone when his 22 birthday comes tomorrow, he will be alone when Christmas, Halloween, Easter.. A darkness seemed to drip from his head like an oozing oil sucking him into a pit of self loathing and pity, that is before his computer chimed up the stairs reminding him of friends awaiting him on the update.
All at once the feeling is sucked away temporarily as he travels up the steps to his screen illuminated, a smile stuck to his lips as he typed 'nugget' and a obnoxiously complex password in two languages with random symbols here and there. Pressing to load in he quickly set his account to load new funds from his bank, he had said he'd use the fund but never said he'd eat. Once done he settled on the leather couch older than him by many years pulling the costly device from several updates ago over his head he waited to be loaded into the world where he would find his friends.
Upon loading he smiled under his characters mask, he looked like what some would expect a European or American to appear, pale, light hair, bright eyes all the things he had desired as a child as they were all things he had been pointed at for not looking the part in his reality. As he logged to see his friends list, he noted his guild leader was online, however most of his good friends were not which lead him to a twinge of disappointment. "I suppose I'll hang out here until someone comes about.." His shyness overruling his need for cling to those he knows until he runs into them, he surveyed the low level town with a cautious eye before settling down to upgrade his basic bard skills, which needed no opponent, rather just the tool and his hands with well timed interactions.

Violet's jaw clenched at his words and her shoulders tensed. It was unusual to see her this uptight about something, let alone a person.

A business partner. Is that what they liked to call themselves? What a flowery term for scum who were just one inch above cheating. One could almost accuse them of seeming half-decent, but Violet knew better. They were nothing but parasites whose concern for their host lasted only as long as the money did, and were unafraid of using any underhanded trick to squeeze out every last drop. Sure, they could seem friendly and insist they are simply providing a service for those who are short of time, but it was nothing but a pathetic lie. There is only one thing that drives these 'business partners' and that is personal gain. They were more than happy to ride on a guild's back, even if it meant running it into the ground.

More importantly they opposed everything she valued in Warriors of Soul, and here was a prime specimen, smirking smugly at her. In her head she could imagine countless remarks to say to him, but her non-confrontational manners won out. She assumed he had been one of Blakstar's hired helpers, a number that had grown almost bigger than the member list during Frost Watch's downfall.

That is, until he mentioned Winter. Only a few "business partners" had been around during that time, though at that point they were called 'friends'. Most notably a certain female necromancer, Blakstar's favorite. Although she only knew this player from afar, she knew Winter and Leoric. Could it possibly be her? She didn't know her well enough to confirm it, but she didn't plan on staying long enough to find out.

Normally Violet would laugh-off one of Cass's playful flicks or patently explain any gamer slang she couldn't understand, but this time she didn't do either of those things. Her face was uncharacteristically stony and she didn't respond. Hung out, or rode the gravy train? she thought bitterly.
"Excuse me, but my friend and I are busy. I'm sorry to disappoint you but mercenaries have little to gain from Frost Watch anymore." she said curtly before walking briskly ahead. "Come on Med, the town is not too far off..."

Gillian's smile faded away into irritation, as the player, this "PurpleRain", figured out her angle immediately, and was an original member to boot. Gillian had nothing against Winter and Leoric. In fact, she really liked them as people, because they were never venomous or impolite to anyone, even her. It was a very admirable quality, and it was no wonder the rest of their guild looked up to them. However, she resented them for the breed of sactimonious, cultlike kumbaya pricks who will swear up and down that their way, and only their way, is the way to play the game, that they produced. 'You're just a petty opportunist,' they would say, 'seeing the game as a mental exercise or an opportunity to make money rather than a social platform is missing the point, and--' Shut the hell up, she thought to herself, maybe you'll understand when you have to pay for college. She found it absolutely vacuous that they assumed they knew how to play the game better than everyone else.

She had no intention of continuing this discussion any further, and she was glad PurpleRain didn't, either. She turned to cut across a field directly to her destination so she wouldn't have to walk with the two of them, but before she began making her way from the trail, she made one last remark, so she could have one last chance to strike a nerve of this holier-than-thou prick.

"It wasn't my fault, you know," she said, inadvertently speaking in a more personal tone, "You should have seen Blakstar was going to break the guild with the way he ran the show. You could have left with your friends to form a new guild, and at least retain the most important part of the guild to you, but you didn't. Now you resent me, whose only crime is claiming some of the scraps before they were lost to time. Maybe some day, you'll come to see I'm not the bloodsucking demon you think I am. For now, however, I bid you adieu."

And with that, she walked off, impatient with the world and ready to grind--not uncommon for her after talking to someone, even in the real world.

Ooh come ooon” Spencer grunted in frustration as the pick up in front of him began to slow down. “You could've made that! I could've made that! We were committed you idiot!” after his road rage Spencer growled, settling back in to his seat. This was perfect. The new update was about to launch, and here he was stuck in traffic behind someone who decided doing 35 in a 45 was an acceptable way to drive. “I wanna know what cracker jack box these idiots got their licenses from.” rocking back and forth impatiently in his seat, Spencer crossed his arms over his chest and, like everyone else in traffic, waited. He wasn't good at waiting. “Knew I should've stopped on my way home from work but nooooo, dumbass me forgot. Now I'm stuck here behind some idiot who wouldn't know a speed limit if it bit him in th ass.” He was too ready to get home and get the update started downloading to have thought about going to the store and stocking up on supplies. Finally the light turned green, the truck in front of him pulling off. About time.

By the time he arrived home Spencer's road rage had subsided, being replaced with his usual happy go lucky self. He carried the spoils of his shopping with him to his room and put them away in his own personal “pantry,” or what the more common regular person would call their closet. He had even installed shelves to give himself more storage space. Now if only it were that simple in Warriors of Soul. His room was also equipped with a mini-fridge, which made Spencer feel very self sufficient even if he wasn't at the moment. He had a job. That was great. He had a car. That was great. He and his sister were roommates. That was fine. They respected each other's boundaries. They each had their own lives, and because of this they rarely saw one another anyway. She was working nights at the moment, which meant he had the whole apartment to himself. Almost as if he had timed it Spencer would hear his VR headset ding, signaling the update had been successfully installed and Warriors of Soul was ready to play. Perfect perfect perfect.

After getting comfortable Spencer would relax and finally, finally log in, noting that the log in time didn't seem as long as it had the other day. Was it actually made slower, or was he just that excited to get logged in? He couldn't tell. Sure enough, as soon as he logged in there was the pop up about the new content. Good. Now maybe he could get back to leveling without running in to so many over leveled players. First things first, he had to check his auctions. What had sold, what hadn't, and what could be put back up on the auction house to try and make a profit from. He realized had made a sizable profit once everything was said and done, Spencer spending just a moment to look and see if anything caught his interest on the auction house for him to spend his new found wealth on. Nothing did, and after that moment Spencer would shrug and close the auction house window. Alright. Time to get to it. I need to.... he thought to himself, bringing up his character window. His Alchemy was pretty close to maxing out for his current level, which meant he would need to actually level a bit before he could progress any farther. But what was the best place to go about doing that at his level? There was only one way to find out. In the town's Local chat window, a message would pop up from Spencer.

Chainmail Horror: Where does a mid-level chara go to lvl up? PM Serious responses only plz.

And with that, the battle had started. It wasn’t much for Woo Jin, being as high of a level as he was, but the flashiness of the warlock made up for it pretty well, right? Pressing numerous buttons on his light-up keyboard made those satisfying keyboard-clicking sounds and caused Yume to perform various skill combinations, many of which lighting up the screen on the boy’s end. It wasn’t too long before the enemies in the room were cleared out and the door to continue was opened up, a metallic rattling being heard as it creaked open. When it was certain the room was finished, the boy quickly got up from his chair to lock his door, remembering that one of his roommates would soon be coming back–and judging by the fact that it was 4:30 in the morning, he was likely to be drunk and a nuisance to deal with.

Crashing back into the chair, which rotated around and rolled to the side slightly from the impact, Woo Jin heard a guy speak into his mic, which he presumed to be Rolly. He seemed to be saying something about having not played the game for long, and that he was grateful. Rolly’s avatar then turned towards Yume, continuing his talk. In response, Woo Jin quickly typed:

Yume: Ah, yeah! I remember a little bit o:

Truthfully, he didn’t remember at all–there had been many times he partied up with random people to meet the player requirements for certain dungeons and missions. Too many times to even count… But regardless, what Rolly said made sense, seeing as Woo Jin wasn’t one to add many people to his friends list. That being said, the two probably had one of those brief, few-day periods of friendship where they talked occasionally, but stopped after some time has passed.
Yume: And don’t worry about it! Do you want to join us in grinding after this dungeon?

Now that wasn’t something he would say face to face (or vocally, rather) to someone he didn’t really know. Actually, the personality people knew of him–or rather, Yume, held a vast difference. Yume was generally seen as some kind of soft, sisterly figure who never got in an argument or dispute with anyone. It was safe to say that ‘she’ was pretty well-liked in the community, and especially by ‘her’ guildmates–who may have been try-hards or elitist end gamers, but still saw ‘her’ as a good friend and person. Nonetheless, it wasn’t like Woo Jin tried to act this way, but his lack of a microphone led to him only being able to type, and let me tell you, typing something and actually saying it can have completely different implications.

Moving on… There was only about half an hour until the update really took into place, not to mention that the dungeon was timed. The boy waited for this Rolly figure to heal a little bit before advancing onto the next room and immediately attacking. He first attacked with Soul Chamber, which gathered and temporarily binded multiple enemies in one place, and using a charm skill, he called for vibrant blue, purple, and black streaks of lighting to be cast down on them. There were only about 3 more rooms left in the normal version of the dungeon including the boss room, but with 8 minutes left before they would have to start over again. If he recalled correctly, the boss of the dungeon had different forms that it switched between throughout the battle; one giving it an immunity to magic, another giving it an immunity to melee, one that didn’t give it immunity to anything, and one that gave it immunity to everything if they took too long to defeat it. I suppose we should speed it up, then…

Sighing to herself Darah hummed lightly under her breath, "Just a little press here and a little pluck there.." She smiled at her work. "What a fine chicken you've made." She smirked before loading the trimmed carcass into her inventory. Such a simple thing to do while looking at a computer screen was trimming of her beast, despite the amazing quality of graphics creators boasted in every advertisement. While they were to be put simply, stunning, it was nothing like offing something in real life.

"To town I go." She muttered, curious of any better updates to the marketing system. While it was amazing in quality it was still considerably lax. When it came to player interaction marketing was low in value, leaving the most profitable trades to be made by NPC's during quests or even events. She supposed she should be in awe at the system in general, there being a realistic price exchange for each task she was set to do. For example in other games she would be rewarded a large sum for a task befitting of her level, yet that sum having a relative value of not even half its cost value if she were to try to purchase the item back, let alone the cost of manufacturing the item. That was one of the main things that caught her interest in this game. The fact that the economy wasn't complete trash, in fact it has one of if not THE best economy available for MMOs. Only the player market interactions were what left things to be desired.

In the beginning Darah had allowed herself to be used as an easy target for low exchange values, allowing the act of 10 silver pieces in trade for a trimmed slab of meat that has a value of nearer 10ish gold pieces. Once learning of the excellent trade value Darah closed off 'Neshempai' for further trades unless those interacting were actually serious about the trade. No more feathers for a cowhide, honestly some people. For that reason her list of good to trade players was limited but not completely closed off. Perhaps one of her friends would be online and up for some old fashioned price value, or maybe even some simple bartering might come into play, after all it was an exciting day with the update and all leaving Darah with a little more patience and a better mood than normal.
