I was thinking maybe the thing that brings their relationship from "bar buddies who fuck sometimes" to "hey actually maybe we like each other" is that Gavin loses his job and and is like, freaking the fuck out and trying to drown himself in alcohol before he loses his apartment and Cas offers him a place to stay for a bit? I just wanted to send this idea before I reply and instantly forget everything ive ever thought
