Born into nobility, Kazuki never had to worry about working hard for anything other than focusing on his studies and practicing his bending. Because of this, growing up meant that seeing those who had less than him was almost a confusing sight as to how one could live without the luxuries he had. His father was a General in the Fire Nation army while his mother had been a highly respected political figure in the Fire Nation. During the time his parents had been around, there was a seemingly ever-lasting peace amongst the four nations that everyone seemed to be happily content with. This peace also came at the cost that it would mean everyone from each Nation was responsible at times to help those in need from other Nations, whether it was to assist with repairs, food, or anything else that could be spared. Kazuki was not too fond of this idea and he was well aware that were many others who shared his thoughts. Why should the Fire Nation help anyone else when they were clearly the most powerful force throughout the land and with the mysterious disappearance of the Avatar, what was stopping the current Fire Lord from taking over the land.
It appeared as though even with this clear fact, Iroh; who had been the current Fire Lord was perfectly happy with how things were amongst the four nations and he did not seem to even have the thought of invading any of the other nations whatsoever. Because of this and Kazuki's complete refusal to accept such an act, as he grew older, little by little, he showed clearly enough to those of his own nation and anyone from any other nation that came to their city that he was not about to share anything or help anyone unless they were citizens of the Fire Nation. From time to time, he would even march out onto the streets with posters and signs while shouting for those who were not citizens of the Fire Nation to leave their city, demanding at the guards at times to remove them from their city streets, of course, each and every time, he failed miserably.
As finally ended up reaching adulthood and his family had gone into retirement, with his experience and knowledge from his studies, Kazuki began to devise much more detailed and complex ways of his actions. Instead of openly voicing his opinion, he began to go about his actions by approaching citizens one at a time personally about his thoughts only to find that there were many individuals who sided with him than against him, however, no one dared take any action due to the ruling force of the Fire Lord had already deemed that the citizens of the Fire Nation were to make peace with others. One after another, anyone that sided with Kazuki always brought up the same excuse; the Fire Lord.
It was at this moment that Kazuki realized that the enemy was not those who entered their city after all, but instead, it was Iroh who was the main problem, as long as he sat on his throne, the Fire Nation would remain this weak image. So, starting from there, Kazuki began to recruit any and all of those willing to overthrow the Fire Lord and to put someone else in charge that would show the true power of the Fire Nation and bring glory to the Nation itself.
It wasn't long before Kazuki had gathered the support of a large majority of the Captial City of the Fire Nation as they stormed their main palace. Since those who invaded the palace were citizens of the Fire Nation, the guards would not dare attack them with anything lethal. Because of this, it wasn't long before they reached the throne room where Iroh was forced to step down and become exiled by the new ruling Fire Lord; Kazuki.
With the new Fire Lord in charge, it was only a matter of days before supplies from the Fire Nation had stopped being delivered to the other surrounding nations, but instead were invading forces. Without any preparations and the surprised invasions, none of the other Nations were able to counter the attack and were quickly taken over one after another. The only place to this day that still stands tall and strong is none other than the Earth Kingdom city of Ba Sing Se. This does not mean that Kazuki has given up on attempting to one day take over that city as well.
Born and raised in the slums of Ba Sing Se, Goro never knew who his real parents were since he was abandoned at an orphanage. Even so, strangely enough, unlike many of the other children who grow up realizing that their true birth parents had left them, Goro didn't seem to mind his life but rather preferred to simply 'go with the flow' type of attitude at nearly all times. Sure, he got into more than enough trouble due to stealing, scamming, and other shenanigans, but since he was simply living at the orphanage and without any sort of parents, there wasn't much that could be done to a child.
Unlike many of those who were at the orphanage who apparently had plenty of those who were to become benders when they grew up, Goro never really cared about learning how to do any form of bending and rather preferred to laze around and just relax. Of course, he was well aware that by the time he had hit his late teenage years, he'd be force to leave the orphanage and go into the world to learn how to live on his own, and yet, even with this knowledge, he showed practically no care whatsoever. By the time he finally reached the age where he was told to leave, rather than show any sort of sorrow for having to leave the place he considered home for so long, he simply left without a care in the world and a big ol' smile on his face. It was believed that eventually, he'd be found somewhere on a street corner begging for money within the next couple of days, and while that wasn't exactly true, it wasn't far off from the truth either.
Within a matter of weeks, Goro would easily be found in any of the parks or wandering the sidewalks with a large gouge of sake in his hand as he laughed and wandered around Ba Sing Se aimlessly. Where had gotten the money from was anyone's guess, it could've just been from scamming other citizens or getting into some kind of street fight with a gang and getting paid to leave the gang alone, either way, he seemed happily drunk a majority of the time.
Years passed and the day when the mass invasion of the Fire Nation throughout the land was the day that Goro showed his true colors regarding just how dangerous and wise he could be. The Fire Nation had invaded the interior of Ba Sing Se and was being pushed back by the Earth Kingdom's army, but even with the help of the military, the Earth King's army could only be spread out so far, causing them to have to protect the more populated areas of the city than anywhere else. This meant that the slums was much more lightly guarded compared to the main portion of the city.
As Fire Nation soldiers approached the orphanage to either kill or take over the building for strategic uses when the soldiers had reached the front doors of the building, what they found was unexpected; a drunken Goro laying on the floor with a bottle of sake in his hands, offering the soldiers a drink. When the soldiers declined the offer and demanded that he surrendered, Goro sloppily stood up only to pretend to surrender.
By the time one of the soldiers had approached him to attempt and take him in as a prisoner, the soldier was quickly overwhelmed with a drunken fist-like strike that not only dropped the soldier to the floor but as well as blocked every chi point in his body. Even when the other soldiers began to attack with their firebending techniques, Goro showed high amounts of flexibility to be able to use his surroundings to his advantage, easily taking down practically the entire platoon of soldiers with ease. Staying at the orphanage until the Earth Kingdom's guards finally arrived to take the incapacitated soldiers into prison. The caretakers of the orphanage insisted that Goro join the Earth Kingdom's military considering his amazing fighting skills so that one day they could defeat the Fire Nation. Rather than join or agree, he waved off the idea before leaving with his alcoholic drink once more, stating that it was far too much work to be joining such a tight-knit group that was the military. Although, this did not mean he completely brushed off the idea of a group that would defeat the Fire Nation one day, so from that day forward, he formed the rebellion that is now known to this day as The Blooming Lotus.
Qiang had a tough childhood. His father ended up leaving his family as well as taking all the money and the time his mother had been pregnant. To make things worse his mother ended up dying during childbirth just leaving him and his little sister. Luckily though, he managed to make by, by doing odd jobs for people. Some would give pity on him and help look after his little sister while he worked. Though did have to go through his fair share of beatings when older teens would jump him and steal anything he would have on him. But he kept pushing through and never let anything get him down. Everything he did was for his little sister and would make sure to protect her so that no harm would ever come to her. Unfortunately, though he would end up losing her. Qiang and his sister were making their way home with some food and money but unfortunately ended up getting jumped. It turned into a fight and her brother was outnumbered he yelled at his sister to run home which she started to but suddenly she ended up turning around and jumping on the back of one of the guys that were punching her brother trying to get him to stop. The fight just got worse from there and unfortunately, Qiang ended up being held down while he watch his little sister get beaten, try as he could he couldn't lose their grip on him.
Finally, they left taking the food and money with them. Qiang ran up to her sister to see if she was alight but she looked in terrible shape. As quickly as he could he picked her up and brought her to a doctor but unfortunately, there was nothing they could do. Before she died she asked him if he was angry at her for trying to help, and he told her of course he wasn't. His eyes were watery but he tried to keep his tears in. She smiled at him and said she was glad. "Thank you for always taking care of me but you don't have to worry about me anymore. I won't be a burden to you anymore." He tried to comfort her by telling her that she was never a burden. She gave him one last smile before she passed. He cried, and for a couple of hours the adults had a hard time trying to get Qiang to let go of his sister. He had been holding her crying, refusing to let her go. Eventually, they got him to let go of her and calm him down a little.
After her death, they cremated her and gave her ashes to Qiang which they put in a urn. For the next couple of days, Qiang didn't leave his home, he just stayed there eating what little food he had and hugging the urn of his little sister's ashes. He felt responsible for her death, he thought to himself if only he had been stronger then he could've protected her then this wouldn't have happened. On top of that, she was the only person he had left, he was now truly alone. Qiang wanted to spread his sister's ashes somewhere but he wasn't sure where that was until remembered how his sister always use to talk about the palace gardens. She would hear how beautiful they were and she desperately always wanted to go there. The palace garden was the perfect place. Now Qiang's heart was in the right place but he clearly wasn't thinking clearly, if he thought he was going to somehow sneak in and not get caught then he was clearly too naive. But any rational thoughts he had were brushed aside. In the end, he did end up getting caught trying to sneak onto the palace grounds.
The guards took him to Iroh, who had been currently having tea. The guards asked what they should do with Qiang, Iroh looked at the boy and saw him hugging the urn tightly, Iroh gave him a kind smile and asked, "Want some tea?" From that point on Qiang's life took a huge turn. After talking telling Iroh why he was trying to sneak in. Iroh allowed him to spread her ashes around a cherry blossom seed that had just been planted. Iroh and Qiang grew close and had practically become his unofficial adopted son. As time went by Qiang ended up becoming a soldier and trained really hard, he worked all his way up to the title of General and had become known as a great warrior that practically no one could take down. Qiang also ended up getting married to a water tribe girl he met while at the southern pole. She moved with him to the fire nation and shortly after getting married, he had a daughter named Thamina. Qiang's wife and daughter were everything to him, in a way he saw his daughter as a second chance. He was able to protect his daughter now and wouldn't fail her as he did his sister. Qiang couldn't be happier at the life he had but unfortunately all of it was about to crumble to dust.
When Fire Lord Iroh was overthrown, Qiang pleaded with Iroh to take action but he did not want to attack his own citizens. It was a hard decision for Iroh to make, but there wasn't anything he could do about it. Qiang wasn't there for the coronation of Fire Lord Kazuki. He skipped out on it planning on leaving the Fire Nation. He refused to work for this man and would do everything in his power to overthrow him but first had to safely get him and his family away. Before he could act on it though he was summoned to appear before the Fire Lord, apparently someone ratted Qiang out about him leaving. Kazuki tried to reason with Qiang to stay but he refused. "There is nothing you can do that would ever convince me to serve you." Fire Lord Kazuki smiled. "I had a feeling you would say that." At that moment the doors to the throne room opened and two guards stepped in with his wife whose hands were tied behind her.
Qiang dared not show his real emotions but he was scared, the Fire Lord gave Qiang a choice either he worked for him with his complete and total loyalty or he'd kill his wife. Of course, Qiang would agree to work with him but just to make sure he never went out of line Kazuki had his wife sent away and guarded. The moment Qiang stepped out of line that was to be the end of her. As for his daughter; Thamina Qiang was forced to give her up. The Fire Lord wanted to raise her the way he wished he had raised his daughter Yun from the start. She would be a servant to his daughter but also work for him as well. He told Qiang he would be able to see and visit her but he was not to interfere or the wife was dead and there was a possible chance his daughter would be endangered as well.
With the threats of his family hanging over his head, he gave in to the Fire Lords' demands. That day was the last time he saw his wife and even though he got to see his daughter it wasn't as much as he would've liked and he hated seeing the person she was becoming. Once again he failed to protect the people he loved. General Qiang continues to serve the Fire Lord to this day, seen as one of his most trusted advisers, seeing as he never steps out of line. He has done everything the Fire Lord has ever asked and it kills him. He hates where the world is at now and what's even worse, he had a large part in it. Every so often he goes and sits at the Cherry tree his sister is buried at. It's grown beautiful and big. It's the only place he feels at peace now.
