Name: Finley H. Eaton

Hero/Villain Name: Beacon / The Insect Hero (Named due to his tendency to alert other heroes of dangers and villains using swarms of insects.)

Age: 25

Appearance: Respecting the artist's wish for no repostings of their work, so here's a link to the artist themselves. I imagine that Finley would look pretty similar to the pink-haired character shown a lot in their works.

Personality: Finley has a rather conflicting personality, being both loud and obnoxious while also holding a sort of 'tired' feeling to him. In his outer appearances, he is quick to make jokes and tease others, as well as oftentimes makes rather self-deprecating swings at himself. It is this loud and seemingly incapable of being serious exterior that has caused him to be disliked by many of the higher level heroes. Despite this, he enjoys the presence of others and is actually rather friendly to almost everyone he encounters. Despite his friendly exterior, he has shown himself to have a little bit of a more serious side, constantly trying to help students improve their skills as heroes. When getting to know him a little more, it becomes quite clear that the boisterous insect hero is actually rather insecure and genuinely can't stand being alone with himself.

Ability: Finley has a strange ability, earned from a mother with an ability to control small insects (About the size of her palm,) and his father's ability to produce flora from his bloodstream. His ability is capable of producing and controlling insects from his bloodstream, the size depending on how much blood is used in its creation. A drop can make a few ants, a few drops can make a medium-sized butterfly, a cup can make an entire swarm of bees, and so on.

He chooses to use this ability sparingly, as it causes him to become lightheaded rather easily if he uses too much, and it is seemingly incapable of being turned off. As has been shown through numerous mishaps, it seems that the moment his blood comes into contact with air, it will take the form of a type of insect. Usually, it will take the form that he wants it to, but if drawn without intention, it can take a variety of forms of small insects -- typically ants, grubs, beetles, or even small moths. Daily, he will draw a small amount of blood from himself in order to produce a few insects with no ill-side effects, making him more dangerous depending on how long he has gone without fighting.

With his job as a hero ranker, placing heroes within their specific categories of ranks based on their skills and amount of cases solved, he prefers to only alert heroes of fights and keep an eye on how they do. Whenever cornered, he is capable of fighting but prefer to still keep a distance from his targets, as his ability is best used at a range. Relying mostly on swarms of insects like wasps, honey bees, and even his most notorious swarm, a large amount of brightly colored moths from the Madagascar that can cause numbing and even minor temporary paralysis.

Other Ability or Hero/Villain Stuff: Finley is neither fond of costumes or masks, and has no wish to wear anything more than his usual daily clothes. Because of this, he has been mistaken for being a bystander on numerous occasions. Despite his loud exterior, he is somewhat camera shy and tends to avoid publicity, using his swarms to hide his face from large groups and news reporters. Otherwise, he tends to appear rather plainly during fights.

Backstory: In general, the insect hero had a peculiar childhood. As a well-known entertainment family, it was expected that he would be going into some sort of hero or villain business at some point. With a hero mother, a villain father, three hero siblings, and four villain siblings, he was rarely outshone by his siblings during his youth and eventually chose to go his own route, trying to break away from the mold and choosing to try and take up the path as a rescue type hero -- the kind used in natural disasters when there is nobody to fight but the need to save people. He quickly became disillusioned with heroes and villains after noticing the lack of attention given to people who actually tried to help others, leading him to chose to take up the role as a hero ranker so that he could try to push heroes in a slightly different direction.

This has lead to a bias that has shown itself on a few occurrences throughout his life, Finley clearly holding heroes that extend beyond the entertainment industry to a much higher standard than those that merely do it for the attention.

(hii, thank you for making the thread ahaha)

Name: Cato Reistad

Hero/Villain Name: Maledict

Age: 20

Appearance:

10948_lqScVc4P.png

Personality:
I - S - T - J
Cato is, in short, hard to get to know. He's quiet, he keeps to himself, and when someone does try to approach him, he often appears standoffish and curt. To Cato, his purpose is to get his hero ranking and get on with life. Despite his cool and calm exterior, though, Cato has shown to be quite impatient, and will sometimes give up on a task if it's not up to his perfectionist tendencies.

Because of his close to nonexistent social life, Cato would spend his time either studying or training himself, as his utmost desire, apart from becoming a high-ranking hero, is to gain complete control over his power. He's not naturally talented, but he works his hardest when it comes to his academics, which produces satisfactory grades. As withdrawn as he is, Cato has displayed a strong sense of duty in carrying out justice, as he dismisses those on the villain track, and looks down on the villain profession.

Ability: Blood Beast
Cato's strength grows with the more blood he loses, though his conscious and rationality slips will also slip. His body also has two 'stages' of blood loss. If he's nearing critical state, any of Cato's blood that's around will be able to be manipulated by him, and Cato will often wield it like a lance. The blood will solidify into a hard material, enough to pierce through metal. If his body nears critical blood loss state, he will enter a berserker 'blood beast' mode, where a darkness engulfs his body and he loses his mind, becoming solely guided by his immediate desires.

Depending on the blood loss, Cato will either be dazed, or completely knocked out for a few days. If he ever has to enter those stages, he will be rendered useless in battle once out. Though Cato doesn't like to disclose it, he's wary of his abilities because of how much of himself he loses, and so it is his own personal goal to control himself during this state, which leads him to becoming quite an avid psychology reader.

Hero Outfit:
Cato's outfit is centered around controlling himself. He has a black outfit that matches his tendency for dark clothes, and a muzzle around his mouth, in an attempt to control himself if he does enter his beast form. In his gloves, there are small syringes that he tends to activate at the start of a battle, in order to draw out small amounts of blood that would be enough to grant him enough strength to win in a normal battle.

Background:
Born to two high ranking heros, Cato's path was pretty much set out for him the moment he came into existence. His parents have both garnered the city's love and attention, and their marriage was met with great joy and excitement from the general public. However, the marriage was loveless, and solely a stunt for the parents in an attempt to further their names, along with his birth.

Cato's ability came from a mix of his parents, from his father's bombastic berserker strength that he would often put on display, and his mother's flashy blood channeling abilities that she would use largely for showmanship in battle. Because of how caught up his parents were in their jobs, Cato was often alone and isolated at home, the only interaction with his parents being lessons on how to behave when they make public appearances. His parents were overjoyed when his abilities began showing at a young age, and they disapproved of Cato's attempts to control it. To them, the more destruction and mayhem caused by Cato, the more formidable and noteworthy he would become, and they started to actively encourage him entering this form.

Because of this upbringing, Cato has become quite apathetic to both his future and the hero path, as he sees it as merely a means to an ends, a way for him to get his parents off his back.
