Fandom Distorted Mirror

Red Like Roses pt2 (best use of music in a post): I'm updating literally just this award because Mercury putting Bucky's theme to use is both so thematically appropriate and also just fits so well

Was inspired after reading TWATD to do what's basically just an elaborate writing exercise.

Who knows how the RP will actually end(well the GM does but)I wanted to touch upon the idea of some of the characters being asked questions.

What if the villains were apprehended? Locked away?

Who would write their stories? Figure out what lead them down this road?

One erstwhile reporter of course.

Obviously this has no basis in the RP's canon(as it currently stands)but it's just something I was very interested in doing after the Pantheon was 'interviewed'.

For the other players of Distorted Team RWBY feel free to take your own spin on this! Don't see it as 'giving way too much' but just one of many possibilities.

That all being said, I hope you enjoy this <3

For security purposes I can't tell where I live. Or even my name. Talking to criminals of such a high 'pedigree' as I have doesn't come without it's costs. If there was even the slightest chance of any of them escaping, the facility will not want to be held liable if any damage comes to me or those associated with me.

Too little too late for that I suppose. If only they knew.

I'd laugh if it weren't so tragic.

As I approach the facility in which I'm told the former 'Red Masque' is being held, I look over the architecture.

The paint color is drab and uninspired. So grey it nearly saps away my drive to be here. Even the armor the guards wear is pale and lifeless. The feeling I get off them is just as cold as the barbwire fences surrounding the exterior of the place. I don't ask if they're electrified or not. I know the answer.

I'm sure it's broken the wills of many of it's occupants in that very same way.

I'm escorted in by armed security. Don't want to take any chances. I understand of course and comply. I'm scanned for any weapons. They find none on of me. After everything's finally seemed to settle, I didn't see the need to carry a weapon anymore. Least of all when going to a place like this. If the resources being used to support this place mean anything, I should at least be able to come and go without feeling like I'm in any danger.

Though given who I'll be speaking to, I suppose the need for caution is understandable.

I'm granted an audience with the warden of the facility. It takes some time to explain to him what exactly I'm here to do. He dislikes the idea of it at first, feeling that it'll draw citizens to sympathize with people like the Red Masque and the Dragon. I do my best to explain that despite their many crimes, they never stopped being human. I was curious to see what made them tick. What brought them to think what they were doing was right?

'Some voices are better off never heard from again.' he says sounding sure of himself. I assure him that this won't glorify or exonerate the prisoners in question. He relents and allows me to meet the Red Masque. Even down an arm and having been locked away like she has, due to her litany of crimes and notoriety, she's still considered highly dangerous. The room I'll be interviewing her in will have a mirror that only I'll be able to see through but the Masque will not. If anything goes wrong, I'm to signal and guards will flood the room and restrain the Masque and bring me to safety.

I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

I motion for my partner-reluctant as they were to accompany me-to only start recording on their scroll once the interview proper was underway.

I situate myself properly and fold my arms across the table in what's basically the prison's interrogation room. It's a small space, almost enough to invoke feelings of claustrophobia in me. I fight back the urge and compose myself as the person I came all this way to see is brought in. If the question comes up I'll obviously phrase it more diplomatically but I can smell her before I see her properly. The odor is strong as if it came from someone who'd just given up and let their body odor go unchecked. Her red-tinged hair flowed down to the nape of her back and a muzzle was locked securely over her face. Her left arm was marked with a manacle that the warden had explained suppressed her semblance. Her right arm or lack thereof was evident by the sleeve of her uniform being tied off in a knot.

The guards bring her to the chair across the table from mine. They motion for her to sit.

She doesn't move.

One of the guards raises their voice and asks again.

She doesn't comply.

I don't flinch as the guard smacks her in the back of the head, roughly at that, and force her to sit.

I ask if the muzzle is really necessary. The guards insist that yes, it is. They leave us without another word.

The Red Masque stares ahead at me. She still hasn't said anything since being pulled in here. I can't imagine she's happy. But then part of figuring out what she's thinking is why i'm here.

I introduce myself and explain why I'm here. She blinks and tilts her head.

"You came to talk to me?"

She sounds...surprised. As if the suggestion sounded absolutely ridiculous. It was a reaction I was well accustomed to from my peers. I re-explain and she cuts me off before I can finish.

"I'm not dumb. I'm locked up but that doesn't mean I'm stupid. You came to talk to me. But why would you?"

She goes on to state that i'm the only visitor she's had. She doesn't recall how long she's been here.

It's been 4 years. I don't tell her that.

'I wish to see the world through your perspective. Get some insight on things.'
is the explanation I give her. She turns up her nose at me and leans back. Almost as if the suggestion is offensive in some manner. She doesn't say anything more so I decide to cut right through any dead air and ask the first question that comes to mind.

I ask her if she's taken care of here. The question seems to confuse her at first so I re-ask it. Are her needs being met? Is she being provided the proper healthcare needed for her situation? That seems to click a bit more but as the seconds roll by, it's as though I can see the gears moving in her head processing what I'd said and picking out bits and pieces of it.

"It's a prison. I'm a prisoner. Somehow someway I'm still here."

She doesn't go anymore indepth.

"I know why you're asking me this." She replies with something of a snarl in her voice. "I saw you lean back when they pulled me in here. You don't like how I smell do you?"

I apologize if I offended her in anyway. She laughs it off.

"It's whatever. They offer me soap and showers along with everyone else. I get myself in trouble so I don't have to. Makes this place feel a bit less like prison to me. Makes it feel more like home." She pauses. "Or at least what's always felt like home to me." I prod her to clarify. Figuratively poke of course. At first for a second or two she seems hesitant, but then for whatever reason she relents. "It reminds me of the woods. I didn't have care in the world there. I could swim in the rivers, the lakes, let my hair grow out as long as I wanted. The guards here don't like it. They pull on it or spit in it if I'm misbehaving. But I don't want to cut it. It makes me happy."

I had noticed one of the guards pull at her hair, no doubt someone like this could be frustrating to deal with. I'm sure if I were to ask any of the guards if this were common practice when dealing with prisoners similar to the Masque, I'd be given two non-answers:

-Why believe the words of a psycho?
-There's nobody else here even close to being 'like' her.

So, instead I simply nod and jot some notes down on my own scroll.

'Does your...'unique' smell cause issues with the other prisoners?"

Part of me feels bad lingering on this niche topic but it's clear that it inspires something within her. Something worth looking into. At the second question she shrugs her shoulders and slumps back against the chair.

"Maybe. I don't know. Nobody here talks to me. You're the only one who has."

It's hard to believe that in this concrete castle of society's breakers, there isn't a soul in here that could seemingly tolerate the Red Masque.

I think on that and jot down some more notes as she continues.

"Even if they did, I don't care what they think. I can't."

'You can't?'

"It'll.....It'll drive me crazy if I do."

If I could hear through the mirror, I'm sure I would have heard a guard or two snicker. I reserve judgement and merely nod once more.

"Can I ask you something?"

I'm a bit surprised by the prisoner's query but I see no harm in it. I explain the limits of what I can answer/that I'm here to interview her, not the other way around. She nods in understanding.

"Will you be back?"

I blink. Taken aback a bit. She had mentioned at the start that I was her first visitor. I clear my throat and tell her yes that I will be. It's not a lie of course by any means. On my free days I'll be up here pending external circumstances to see her and pick up wherever we leave off. The answer seems satisfactory for her and she nods her head up and down. I'd wager a coin there was a smile behind that muzzle but for safety's sake, I didn't press the issue about her needing to have it on. My curiosity would just have to remain unfulfilled. It's also during this time that I realize just how extraordinarily rude I've been to her.

I ask her who she is.

She doesn't say anything for a moment, seems to think, and then glowers as she looks away.

"The Red Masque. That's who I am. Nobody else."

'Not Ruby Rose?'

She pauses again.

"No."

I jot down a couple more things before I ask again.

'Is that someone you're sure you want to be?'

She tilts her head to the side and raises an eyebrow, seemingly intrigued by what I could mean. I go on and begin reading off the various crimes that the Red Masque has been convicted of. The charges of murder and theft don't even seem to register a reaction from her. It's only when I get near the mention of sexual assau-

"Stop."

I catch myself and ask what's wrong.

"What you're going to say. I don't like it."

I tell her it's on her record, one of the many charges she was stuck with.

"I don't like to hear it. What you and others call it."

I stop and think for a moment.

Then it becomes clear to me.

"Do you mean rap-"

*SLAM*

She slams her hand down on the table and I jolt back, shocked by the sudden movement. Her eyes narrow and she leans across the table to stare at me and then at my partner. "DON'T say it. That word. I've heard enough of that word. It's not true. What happened between me and..." She listed off a name or two. Both of which will be redacted for privacy and legality's sake.

"That was pure love. Nothing else."

I hesitate to confront her on this. It's clear the phrasing of this particular crime doesn't sit well with her. But to just let it stand would feel like writing off on her misguided belief. So I pause from biting my lip and counter.

'Was it love for both of you? Or just you, Masque?'

She glares.

I stare back at her.

She sniffles.

"I don't want to talk to you anymore."

'Okay.'

The guards come in and take her away and i'm escorted out. Before I can leave/re-schedule my next visit, the two of us are pulled aside by the warden. He brings up some of Masque's answers to my questions. How they could potentially be misconstrued to give the impression that the facility abuses/mistreats it's prisoners. I assure him that won't be the impression I'm intending. He doesn't seem to believe me and asks me to be a bit more careful in the questions I ask. I apologize and as guards ask my partner to stop recording, we're lead out of the prison.

I plan on returning a day or so from now. Give her a bit of a break.

Soon I'll find out the story behind the Red Masque.

NEOPOLITAN
(the cool one)

Intros:

-Skips onto the stage and does a twirl that ends in a bow with Hush resting over her shoulders, her tongue sticking out.

-Strolls onto the stage with an illusionary double of her opponent looking miserable in a jester's outfit doing a sad dance, before she swats it out of existence with Hush, wearing a devious grin and a glint in her eye.

Moveset:

Neo's playstyle is all about head-games. Her damage and health are relatively low, but she has multiple moves that involve her and semblance copies of herself, with which being which changing depending on the move's input. Additionally, Neo gets invuln frames with dodge animations against any attacks that hit a clone first, allowing her some devious opportunities to change who's turn it is mid combo if used correctly.

Victory animation:

-Neo opens hush and strolls over to the fallen enemy, and with a swing of her feet flops down to sit on their back with a noticeable thud. If its a newblood1988 character, she pats them on the head (:|)

-

1 Bar special: Buenos Dias

Counter special. Neo turns away from the opponent and opens her parasol with a yawn. If hit during the animation, she shatters, and the real Neo appears to step out from behind an invisible wall behind the opponent with Hush already mid windup for a powerful baseball swing to the back cheeks. Always wallbounces when it connects.

2 Bar special: Waltz of Glass

A low dash that covers most of the screen, where Neo draws Hush' blade with a slash if and when she reaches the opponent. If unblocked, she disappears and reappears with a flurry of slashes, only to land on the other side of the opponent and give them a friendly pat on the shoulder that knocks them prone.

3 bar special (technically four): Big Game Huntress

Unique in that using this special requires using one bar of special beforehand to load a hyper-dense dust round into Hush with a stylish flourish, leaving Neo vulnerable for a moment. the special itself moves incredibly fast whenever its used after loading, Neo twirling into a kneeling fire position as the magnets light up along her parasol's haft before unleashing the payload. The results depend on the input used the first time; one shoots a fire round for massive damage if it connects, one shoots a dust round that explodes well before contact for a screen covering blizzard, and lightning shoots a unblockable beam of damage. Each type can only be used once per a match.

Astral Finish: Hush

Counter astral. Neo blows a kiss. If hit during the animation, not only does she shatter, but so does the background stage, leaving pure black. The enemy looks around in confusion, before a small hit animation plays against their head; the hit makes the black shatter back into the normal background, and reveals Neo with Hush planted against the enemy's forehead and the haft already lit up. She gives them a friendly smile and pulls the trigger, and the victory screen plays over the ensuing explosion.

Secret Astral Finish: Giving In

Only useable against certain characters. Neo slashes across the screen with a trail of pink petals trailing her strike. If it connects, the screen suddenly blacks out with the sound of stage lights turning off as the music stops, before a spotlight comes on over the enemy as they stagger back to their feet from the hit. There's a barely visible slash across the stage before their neck sprays blood with a screech of violins as the lights turn back off. More blood sprays can be see in the dark, picking up in speed with the violins to match, before the spotlight turns back on with a blood drenched Neo sitting on top of the fallen foe's back with Hush's blade planted in it, her eyes a lifeless grey. She slowly stands off and rigidly trudges in a trail of red off stage as the screen displays 'VICTORY?'

Special intros:

Roman:

-Neo practically drags Roman onto the stage while he complains about training again, her eyes alight with an utter and obvious joy at being able to practice with her most important person in her life.

-Roman is chased on screen and comes to a screeching halt at the stage's edge, with neo strolling on stage behind him with an annoyed look as she holds up a book clearly labelled 'Homework' that she taps a few times before tossing it to the side

BDE Yang/Bandit Qrow/Vernal:

Neo walks onto stage and her eyes widen in sudden recognition. With a flash the stage suddenly morphs into the fiery ruins of Haven academy with a shadowy form slumped onto the ground above a pool of blood. The illusionary stage shatters, One Thing overtakes other background music choices, and Neo's sprite doesn't smile for the rest of the match

Mercury:

Neo walks onto stage with a grand bow as "TEAM MTEN'S BEST FIGHTER" appears in giant neon letters complete with arrows pointing at her right above her, before she snickers as it shatters and she enters her ready stance.

Cinder:

Neo is looking away when Cinder enters the stage, and reacts with obvious shock as she approaches and jumps to the other stage edge, flourishing Hush with a guarded and hurt frown

Yang:

Yang's standing in the middle of the stage, when a sudden airhorn noise is played with an animation right next to her, followed immediately by an obvious censoring bleep as Yang jerks away as Neo's invisibility shatters with her giggling. Yang's terror immediately shifts to an angry grin with a flash of red eyes as she smashes her fists together with sparks of flame, and a look of immediate regret crosses Neo's face as she readies up.

(I was bored so we're doing another one of these)

BLAKE BELLADONNA
(the cool one)

Intros:

-Starts seated on the ground in a meditation stance, before she stands up and places the SF mask over her face, When she does, her aura flares for a moment, leaving her a black and purple shade with glowing yellow eyes before it disperses as she crouches into her ready stance
- Comes flying from off screen with gambol impaled into an atlas drone, landing on top of it in a crouch before she notices the opponent opposite and stands, kicking it off screen.

Moveset:
- Blake is a technician's character, with moves for most distances on the screen, though she lacks the damage or hitstun to play a full keep-away playstyle like a traditional zoner. Fast movement with some misdirection enabled by her semblance and long potential combo chains are where she finds most of her wins.

Victory animations:

-Blake takes a centering breath and takes off her mask, saying a generic or character specific victory line. Then something off screen catches her attention with narrowed eyes, and her form fades into nothingness as a shadow clone moments after she replaces the mask

1 Bar special: Deadly Nightsade

- Sweeps Gambol in chain scythe forward that covers most of the lower screen; if it connects, the opponent is tripped up into the air for a rapid juggle combo with the chain scythe

2 Bar special: Hunter Killer

- Anti air special/combo ender; dashes up in a sharp diagonal; if it connects, continues with a furious combo of semblance dashes and slashes, ending with a final guillotine strike straight down as the clones are dispersed by the force from the strike.

3 bar special: Grasp of The Hand

- Command grab; swings gambol in a much much shorter but faster arc than deadly nightshade that wraps around the opponent's neck if its hits; Blake's eyes flash gold as she twists to kick the opponent farther away, then turns herself into the strike for a windup while her foot twists in the ribbon to pull the opponent back in; the two intersect with a slash across the neck as the screen turns red, a'la the black trailer.

Astral Finish: End of Creation

- Blake does a long windup slash across the screen that leaves the opponent staggered if it hits. If so, she reaches behind her robe and twirls out the staff of creation, and a relic clone comes out in a bolt of light to slash the opponent again, then another, and another, tearing into the opponent with a complex coordination that finally ends with them held on either side by clones that force them to their knees. Blake walks up, chanting that began at the start of the finish intensifying, before she plants her foot on the opponents shoulder and jams the staff straight through their chest. The clones explode into black mist as the foe slumps backwards, and when the mist fades, the real Blake (and the staff) is gone as well

Special intros:

Eve:

-Both characters start off screen as the opening bars of From Shadows start to play, before they both arrive in a blur to clash with blades drawn in the middle. their pre-fight banter ensues, both trying to dissuade the other off of the fight, before they push off and backslide into the match starting positions. Blake has no mask for this fight.

Weiss:

- Weiss is checking her nails in her screen's corner, before a flash of yellow eyes can be seen opposite that tear onto the screen. Weiss extends a finger, and a pair of glyphs catch Blake around the arms just before she reaches her, and a frozen gigas sword from above rends in her in two. The victim fades and reveals itself to be a shadow clone as the real Blake drops down from above in a ready crouch, banter exchanged before the fight begins in earnest.

Bear:

-The two are going through an identical kata, steady and slow, before bear says to begin; his prosthetic and gambol shroud immediately clash, and both push off to begin the sparring match in earnest

Cinder:

Both descend from the the top of the screen, dual blades against dual blades as Cinder pushes Blake back for a moment until she vanishes and reappears behind her, landing a kick that Cinder catches with the flat of her blade so it pushes her to the other end of the screen. They both take a moment to catch their breath, Blake unable to help herself from spinning one blade to point at Cinder and compliment her improvements since argus before the fight begins and 'Die' kicks in for the matchup music

Arthur Watts
(the cool(er) one)

Intros:

- Arthur strolls onto the screen with his hardlight screens up, snarking at his opposite as he types before he waves the screen out of existence, readjusts his tie, and draws Last Resort in a twirl
- Watts does the el classico superhero landing in Phylactery before standing up and out of the suit as it's plates slide open, the suit popping Last Resort into the air for Watts to catch before it turns into a scooter, beeps, and rockets off the stage.

Moveset:

- Watts is a zoner. Obviously he was going to be a zoner, there is no other way to interpret him as vaguely competitively viable without being a zoner. Can do basic H2H and shoots with last resort, but also does summons of Atlas drones and tech as parts of his moves.

Victory Animation:

- Watts pulls out his screens again and presses a few buttons, before an atlas camera drone zooms out to take pictures of the fallen foe while Atlas drones poke in on either side to applaud.

1 Bar special: Spider And Fly

- Watts lashes out with a quick, short range kick that sends the opponent skidding backwards if it hits, before the leg of a spider tank drops on top of them from above

2 Bar special: Thirty-Six Shooter

- Watts takes a crouched shot with Last Resort, encasing his opponent in ice if it hits, where he then spins back up to standing and rapidly unloads his entire weapon in a barrage of elements, reloading it with a specialized speed loader while the opponent recovers. Not mixup friendly

3 Bar Special (But Watch Out!): Phylactery

- Watts puts out his arms, and the scooter comes roaring onto the screen from behind the opponent to smack into them for relatively low damage. irregardless, when it gets to Watts, there's a flash of light and when it fades he's in the suit; This changes Watts' moveset entirely, still having strong zoner potential and potent chip damage increase but making his up close moves hit MUCH harder, even if they still suck at carrying any kind of combo, along with plenty of super armor to let him attack through/parry other attacks. Think UMvC3 Sentinel hell. This comes with large downsides though; his special meter will start draining immediately AFTER the cost is spent, he can't build any more meter, and if he runs out of meter, he starts draining health. If he gets hit before the scooter reaches him, he just loses the meter. Can be dismissed if you're afraid you're just gonna kill yourself, but leaves him vulnerable for a moment if he does.

Astral Finish: A.M.P. Protocol

- only useable while in Phylactery, reduced meter cost from most astral finishes for that reason. Arthur dashes across the screen for a command grab. If it hits, he turns and hurls his opponent up into the air before he rockets after them, juggling them in the air with a hail of gunfire and beam blasts, before he extends his arms outwards again as dozens of small ports open up on his armor and begin to glow before the entire screen explodes and shows the VICTORY label.

Secret Astral FInish:

-He has one but Im gonna save posting it for if it becomes a relevant move for the RP first :huenoa:

Special Intros:

Tyrian:

- Watts is sitting at a stage appropriate table looking over his scroll. Tyrian walks up behind him and repeatedly pokes him in the shoulder, asking for a spar, getting told no, until Watts finally loses his cool and stands up to punt the table off screen and give Tyrian what he wants.

Ironwood:

Arthur sprints onto screen before a shot catches him, making him tumble and throw up his hardlight shield to catch the next few in his crouch as Ironwood strides on screen with his own gun raised. Their banter is more than a little caustic as Watts stands up to fight rather than continue running. Hero overtakes other music choices.

Cinder:

Cinder and Watts both look at one of his screens, rubbing their chins in mirrored thought as they go over sparring footage. Watts suggests another round to get more notes, which Cinder is happy to give.

Emerald:

Watts walks onto stage with Emerald trailing behind him, and in front of him and basically everywhere heckling him before he finally snaps and draws Last Resort to blast a clone. Except he accidentally picked the one not clone, Emerald's pissed, and being vaguely apologetic isn't stopping this fight from happening.

Mercury:

They both just stand two inches from each other making the Daenerys face as they snark before Merc kicks Watts backwards and rolls to his own starting position before they begin

Char & Blanche

1689648730049.png download20230701220510.png

Hi! Wanted to take a stab at the fighting game idea now that Lex has gone and popularized it again!

Also gives me a chance to try and show off how I'm trying to 'redo' Blanche. Didn't like that BOTH him and Char were faceclaims so decided to try and give Blanche a fresh face using Piccrew! Very happy with how it turned out though I wish there'd been an eyepatch option. This works just as well I suppose lol. As I thought more on it however, I decided that Nu!Blanche didn't fit the same sorta space/mentality I'd had in mind while writing these two chuckleheads back in the original RP. So to try and keep things unique/distinct, I'll be writing this setup with Old!Blanche and Nu!Blanche getting their own specific combinations with Char! Thank you! (and Nu!Blanche is a trans man/part of his backstory with Char that ties into why they're so tight for a bunch of criminals hired as hitman)

Intros (with Old!Blanche)

- Blanche calls out that 'they're up!', to which Char succinctly replies ''bout time.' as he stands up and there's a loud chirp of electricity as he draws Riot Breaker from it's scabbard/Old!Blanche draws The Redemption and the two smile as they point their respective weapons at the opponent.

-Blanche has dozed off and sheepishly staggers to his feet after Char dope-slaps him and the two prepare for battle.

-Blanche and Char are both squatting with furious looks on their face as Char sneers at the opponent. 'You wanna dance with us?' 'You just made yourself the next target of the Hitman Team's darlings!'

~~~(With Nu!Blanche!)~~~
-Char sheepishly offers Blanche a hand to which Blanche gives a dismissive look before playfully slugging him in the shoulder as they both draw their weapons and grin at the opponent.
-Char pushes the hilt of 'Riot Breaker' out of it's scabbard as Nu!Blanche reaches for 'The Redemption' and they each take their turn telling the opponent to 'say their prayers' and 'prepare to meet those who came before you' respectively
-Char takes a swig of alcohol, gags on it, passes it off to Blanche who gulps it down and tosses the bottle offscreen where it audibly breaks/you hear a cat meow. Char winces before the two turn to face the opponent.
Moveset:
- Nobody but Gus Gungus Gus Gungus played the 3D Era/late Midway era of MK games so he'll be the only one who gets this but Char/Blanche(both versions) work similar to how Noob-Smoke worked in MK: Deception. How the fighting style worked there is that you could cycle between two fighting styles and a weapon for each character. Except for Noob-Smoke where if you hit the shoulder buttons to cycle it'd swap between Smoke and Noob, there'd be no weapon for them. I imagined Char and Blanche to act similarily. In this hypothetical fighting game, I like running with the idea that each character has a 'style' for their weapon (you can switch from fighting unarmed to fighting with your weapon 'active') so with these two you'd just jump from either Char or Blanche rather than activate their individual weapons. Char with Riot Breaker is intended for close quarters/a rushdown type and his semblance [NULL ZONE] temporarily disables the opponent's semblance if they're caught in the AOE when it's activated. Blanche with The Redemption(handgun) and Sanctuary(rifle) is a zoner/can take brief potshots at the opponent to try and set them up for Char but since swapping the two out is their 'weapon', it needs to be regulated carefully or else you'll be caught flatfooted while having to wait for a cooldown. Nu!Blanche's Semblance [DEAD EYE] if it connects with the opponent (Blanche needs to be of line of sight with the opponent/the trigger for it can be blocked and Blanche will have to let his meter fill up again) will jumble their inputs and slow their movement(reflected by the screen turning yellow) and Blanche's closed eye will open as he opens fire or if the player so chooses can call in Char to do quick swipes to try and set up for a combo once [DEAD EYE]'s effect wears off. Old!Blanche's semblance [BEYOND THE YEARS] is a super/will be elaborated on below
Victory Animations (with Old!Blanche)
- Char slams the blade of Riot Breaker into the ground, letting a visible surge of electricity surge across the floor as he kneels down and glares at the player while Blanche smiles and waves.
-Char turns his back to the camera/player and sheathes his blade while Blanche holsters The Redemption and blows a kiss
-Char and Blanche turn, grin, and high five the other. The victory screen freeze frames on that.
~~~With Nu!Blanche~~~
-Char holds his hand up, Blanche jumps up and the two high five with huge grins on their face
-Blanche pulls out a bounty poster with the opponent's face on it (it can vary depending on who they're fighting if it's listed as WANTED ALIVE/DEAD/OR BOTH) and the two grin and hug
-Char pumps his fist in the air and Blanche fires off Sanctuary into the air as the two howl in victory

1 Bar special: [ENTER THE NULL ZONE]

- Char gives the opponent a sharp high kick in the head and does an anime-style flash step with Riot Breaker. If it connects than Char sheathes his blade and the opponent flies back from him. If the opponent blocks then Char stumbles and trips, cursing angrily as he gets up with Blanche audibly laughing/giggling off screen

2 Bar special: [BEYOND THE YEARS]

- Old!Blanche jumps out and grabs the opponent by the face. The attack will only initiate if the grab is succesful/there's enough meter to burn. Blanche calls out the name of his semblance and the opponent is engulfed in a cloud of thick smoke. The results depend on who's attacked/they're stuck in that state for a a minute or so at best. Plenty of time to try and get a string going. It's mostly meant to be humorous/a gag and the effects are not limited to the following:

'Good'!Neo: wears thick grandma-style glasses and her hair is put up in a bun, she is holding Hush like a parasol and can only jump + kick while in this state. Will stop and start knitting 'NEO & ROMAN <3' if left idle.

Mercury: Resembles his father and his pants are worn away to reveal how worn out his prosthetics have gotten. Loses a good deal of his speed and has to stop to catch his breath after every jump/run. Smiles and smirks but frowns if he turns to look at the camera if left idle.

Emerald: Is perhaps one of the least affected by [BEYOND THE YEARS]. Just appears to be visibly older, a sour look on her face, grey hair and always has her arms folded across her chest. Doesn't seem to bother with illusions/her semblance at this point but hasn't stop a step in speed and viciously lashes out with kicks. Will look at the player/camera and 'WHAT ARE U LOOKIN @?' will briefly appearo n the screen if left idle.

Roman: Looks very frail/weak as a senior citizen and has to cling to Melodic Cudgel like a crutch. Has a coughing fit after running or jumping and skull and crossbones floating above his head.

Hazel: Another one like Emerald who doesn't seem overly displeased/effected by the change. Grey hair, a beard, and still looks just as ripped. His body is too worn out at this point however to run as fast/inject dust crystals so he can only just do basic kicks and punches. Will turn and bow towards the player/camera if left idle.

Cinder: Missing an eye and left arm, white hair but still can float/fly across the screen and throw fireballs. Her ability to use her 'maiden-linked' supers is locked out until after the status wears off. She turns and smiles towards the player if left idle.

Evil Blake: Is wearing her White Fang mask + cloak, her hair (what's visible of it anyhow) has turned white, and she seems to prefer more upon her shadow clones/semblance in her older age. She's locked into basic kicks/slashes with Gambol Shroud but can still conjure up one-two clones. Will lower her mask enough to reveal her eyes/glare daggers at the player but will not speak if left idle.

The Boss: He'll turn into what appears to be Aurora(but is really just a younger version of the Boss before he established himself.) His face will still be shrouded in shadows but he'll be carrying an ax and while not able to access [SCHIZOID MACHINE], he can still run, jump, and swing his ax. Gag here is supposed to be that instead of turning the Boss old, he turned him younger by mistake/revealed his true identity. Will seem to 'reach out' towards the player/stare blankly at them if left idle

Char & Old!Blanche: Char will barely be able to move/be similar to Roman in having to lean on Riot Breaker. Attempting to run will cause Char to break out into a coughing fit. He can still attack but only if the opponent attacks him first(it works like a counter). If the enemy Char already activated [THE NULL ZONE], it'll stay active even while he's old. Blanche will look absolutely miserable/be unable to fight as he's lost most of his beautiful hair and is crying. He can only run + jump but cannot attack.

3 Bar Special (But Watch Out!): DEAD EYE

- Can only be done with Nu!Blanche. Nu!Blanche is called out and their closed eye snaps open to reveal a hawk-like pupil. A beam of light flies out and if it is not blocked, the screen turns yellow (think like the filter from Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul) and the opponent's inputs are reversed/they move much slower than normal while the Char player still moves at normal speed. Amazing for combo potential but has massive downsides in that if it's blocked/the opponent jumps over or sidesteps the beam of light, Char is punished by clutching at his eye/wincing in pain at the expended effort allowing the opponent to potentially sieze upon the moment to get some licks in.

Astral Finish: [TWILIGHT ZONE]

- only useable while the [NULL ZONE] is activated, reduced meter cost from most astral finishes for that reason. Char sprints forward and swings out for an upward slash. If it connects, he knocks the opponent clean into the air as Nu/Old Blanche runs out and opens fire with the Redemption before switching to Sanctuary. The camera switches to Blanche's POV as they look down the scope of their rifle and give a snappy one-liner depending on the opponent before blasting them with explosive red dust rounds. The opponent screams as the explosion overtakes them and 'VICTORY' appears amid the smoke.

Special Intros:

'Good'!Neo

- Char: Hey Blanche, isn't that Pinky?'
Blanche: I do believe it is, mon ami.
Char: How about we scrap, kid? For old time's sake?

Char: What? You want us to train you?
Blanche: I think it's Char who could be trained...

Char: yap, yap. Let's get to it.

Ironwood:

Char: Never much cared for you Atlas types.
Blanche: Atlesian. Atleasian types, Char.
Char: Just who's side are you on??

Char: We take you out? We'll get a promotion for sure.
Blanche: A promotion to what...?
Char: I dunno but it sure sounds good don't it?

Cinder:

Char: A maiden? What like some kinda 'fair maiden' stuff?
Blanche: Maybe she thinks it'll mean we'll go easier on her.
Char: Tch, as if.

Mercury:

Char: I don't....like your ugly face.....
Blanche: Bit harsh, no?
Char: Not harsh enough if you ask me.

Char: Your dad was a dirtbag and you're no better
Blanche: Let's not go blaming kids for their parents, my friend.
Char: Bullshit! Kid's gotta go!

Char: It's two versus 1 on MY terms now, tough guy.
Blanche: I'm still not sure this is a good idea...
Char: Too late to back out now!

The Boss:

Char: How did this happen...?
Blanche: I'm scared...
Char: We've got no choice but to fight...

Char: You'll pay for disrespecting us!
Blanche: We gave the best years of our life to you!
Char: Prepare for some good ol fashioned revenge!

Char: We were loyal and you tried putting us down like dogs!
Blanche: These dogs bite back!
Char: You're going down and WE'RE taking over the gang!

YANG XIAO LONG
(the cool one)

Intros:

-Starts on stage and slams her fists together as her hair briefly flares and her eyes flash red with an excited smirk at the sight of her opponent. Banter ensues
-Roars onto the stage on bumblebee, coming to a stop in a slide. pulls down her sunglasses to give the opponent an appraising stare before she takes them off completely and pockets them as she hops off the bike.

Moveset:

- Yang is the Ryu/Ragna/Sol/Shoto type of the game; definitely has components of her kit that can be mastered and pushed to keep up with the more complex movesets, but a very straightforward bruiser character at heart, with some simple but effective projectiles thrown in to keep zoners honest. Also translates her semblance very simply; the lower her health gets, the more damage she dishes out in turn

Victory animations:

-Yang rolls her neck and swings both fists, the motion ejecting the empty shells from her gauntlet and prosthetic. She then plants her foot on the enemy's shoulder and one hand on her hip as she delivers whatever victory line is apropos

1 Bar special: Xiao Long Footwork

- ballistic dash special that ends with an elbow strike; any attacks that try to intercept are deflected once the special's in motion as Yang spins to the side/ catches it on a gauntlet depending on the attack, and the deflected attacks increase the damage on the following strike. Usable midair

2 Bar special: Burning Gold

-Can only be performed while airborne, but comes down extremely fast; slams into the ground with her fist with enough force that an explosive shockwave ripples across the ground, catch opponents who are out of range of explosion with a low hit.

3 bar special: Lingering Heat

- Anti air special/combo ender; Yang rockets upwards with an uppercut; if it connects, she lands another trio of hits on the opponent, the last one a ballistic powered drop that puts both fighters back on the ground; the move leaves three explosive on the opponent that explode on a timer, or from a quick command from Yang before the timer is up.

-

Astral Finish: Bumbleby

- Yang begins to dash forward with the same motion as Xiao Long Foot work, before suddenly goes into a slide as gambol shroud comes flying across the stage with a slice that sends the opponent spinning on contact. Yang rises out of her slide with an uppercut, the opponent's rise is intercepted by by a downward diagonal slash. Blake smirks and Yang winks as the opponent tries to roll to their feet, before the two partners dash in to bring the hurt in a dizzying display of synergy and pain that ends with Yang going high and Blake slashing low, the opponent going into an unconscious spin before they hit the dirt with a shattered aura. Blake semblance dashes over to Yang's side for a peck on the cheek, doing additional psychic damage to various characters before she dashes again off screen, leaving Yang incredibly smug (and slightly flustered in the cheeks) as she gives her victory line to the opponent.

Secret Astral Finish: Worthy

- Only usable on blake or flipped weiss, because obviously she can't assist against herself. Same starting motion as above, but if the slide kick connects it sends Blake spinning into the air as Yang swings her fists down to blast off after her and intercept. She tackles the faunus midair and they both fall to the ground, with Yang on top and Blake's wrists pinned. Yang grins and leans down to whisper something in Blake's ear, and whatever she says has her light up bright red. Yang presses a kiss on her forehead, and whatever health Blake had remaining immediately disappears.

Special intros:

Raven:

A slightly irate Yang walks on screen, pointedly not looking at the black bird flying behind her and squawking comments. One finally hits a nerve, and Yang swings to fire a shot that Raven dodges by transforming back. Mother and daughter both roll their necks and take their respective stances with whatever banter

Eve:

- Eve is meditating on a rock when Yang walks up, rests her hand on the faunus' shoulder, and just starts gabbing away. This lasts about two seconds before Eve snarls and separates them with a slash of wilt drawn with the same motion of standing up, Yang dancing back from the strike with a peevish grin before she gets ready herself

Dragon:

-Both Yangs come flying across the stage, clearly already mid fight, and this particular dash ends with a cross counter straight across each other's faces that sends ripples of air to either side. Dragon's grimm arm immediately tries to lash out in followup, and yang blasts herself backwards to dodge, a dark growl on her face as Dragon sneers. brief banter pause for the violence resumes, matchup music defaults to All Things Must Die.

Blake:

The partners are both lying on the ground, both with scrolls out and hemming and hawing over where to go get food. Yang suggests they settle it with a spar, and blake gives her a playful smirk in response before they both roll to their feet as ember celica loads and gambol shroud is drawn.
