Desmond's is a special institute founded and led by Sir Desmond Charles to train young students in controlling their powers and help foster a friendly human-mutant relationship. After graduating high school, Desmond was drafted into the largest war of humans against mutants. "Operation Mutant Fury." Four years of his life were dedicated to fighting mutants alongside human companions. After years of constant deployments into Mutant countries, Desmond quickly decided to leave the Army to devote his life to protecting humanity from evil mutants and safeguarding innocent mutants from human oppression. Desmond believed that both humans and mutants could peacefully coexist. Desmond worked with fellow mutation experts and they began discussing the idea of founding a school for mutants. After years of blood, sweat, and tears, Desmond finally created his school for gifted youngsters.
