Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

A few of the officers moved to handle the removal. Piper looked around the room, still completely perplexed. That explanation had only made things more difficult — there was nothing at all. "There was no past medical issues reported and no one working here last night. She was alone," the officer replied to Luke.

Piper her shook her head, frustration replacing her perplexedness in short order. "Do we have any leads at all?" She asked, turning toward the others. She could tell something felt a bit off about the place, but she couldn't figure out whether it was just the fact that there was nothing on the scene or if it was something else.

The officer nodded and held up a notebook. "Her journal contains some... Em, interesting entires toward the end," he told them, handing it to Piper. She opened it and flipped through it. Toward the end, it was becoming a bit incoherent, growing more so the more often a tapestry was mentioned. "We have the tapestry on site, too. We'll be sending it back to the department to run tests on it if you want it."

Sanja nodded and pulled out a thick old leather-covered book. "I've been studying this thing for weeks," she told Val. "Some of it makes a bit of sense to me, but... Occupational differences. I think it'll mean a whole lot more to you. There's more than grounding enchantments in there too; you can take it to study if you like." Sanja glanced at the silver-haired girl. It was entirely possible, Sanja guessed, that there could be things in that big book Valerian might be able to use.

Somewhere in the outskirts of DC (Oct 31, 23:36)

It was a good day to be a metahuman. No police cars nearby, dark at night, with little to no visibility. The last elements sounded negative though. Not for this particular guy. He had enhanced physical prowes, and among them was night vision. Also the fact that he could create a sound-proof barrier around himself. He also messed with some of the street lamps so it was darker in the area than usual. He also had a black mask and was completely dressed in black to better hide in the shadows. And then he finally saw a target. A well-dressed, pretty lady with a nice Luis Vuitton purse. The theif could already smell the money. He moved swiftly through the shadows, approached her from behind with ease, grabbed her, put her to the ground and stole her purse. It was all so easy. All that was left was to run away. As he distanced himself, he thought that it really was a good day. He was impossible to hear, and when he finally struck it was already too late to do anything. Things just work out well for such people these days, right?

No.

3 seconds later a white arrow pierced through his chest. The man fell down, with blood gushing out of the wound. Wasn't he supposed to be the invincible creature of the night? Apparently not. The woman let out a shriek. A few seconds later another figure dressed in black came out of the shadows, carrying a peculiar bow . He was male as well, but a different species, as demonstrated by the pointy ears still visible from under the man's hood. He also wore a mask so his face couldn't be seen. The woman at this point was too scared to scream, or even stand. She had a few bruises caused by the other man when she was slammed into the ground. The hooded figure approached her and she closed her eyes, thinking that her death was near. But what she felt was a strangely soothening sensation. The hooded figure cast a healing spell on her and all her bruises disappeared. He also went towards the lifeless body of the thief, took the purse, and gave it back to the lady. She wanted to thank him, but before she could do so, someone's voice could be heard in the distance. It was a man. Someone she knew apparently. The man hugged her, and she started to cry. She was slightly confused and shocked, but somehow she wanted to thank the masked man with pointy ears, but when she turned around...he was nowhere to be seen.

Greyston nodded at the other officer. Nothing. There really was nothing. This is shaping up to be more of an exiting case than he thought.

"I think I'd like to see that tapestry,  and while you take care of sending the evidence our way we'll take a look around the scene ourselves." Greyston told the man, motioning to himself, Piper and Luke.

The wolf man nodded, and turned to deliver instructions to a few others as Greyston moved to the back room to see the tapestry.

Shortly, one other officer stopped Luke, "You asked about the help? No ones been in for the last few days, but miss Heights did recently move in, and the old housekeeper may still be working with cut hours, we haven't had the chance to check that out yet. Her name is Kara Tran."

Like many Mo usually started his day with a cup of coffee while on the way to work. Not only to stay awake but also for the safety of others. Lets just say he wasn't exactly the morning person. Which is why he usually came in a bit later than every one else. What? Don't worry he's responsible, he's only late by like an hour or so! See? Its not that bad jeez!

While he hadn't came in in exactly an hour late he came in 25 minutes later than some of the early risers, with an espresso in one hand and a brief-case in the other. He dressed in casual attire, a shirt with Bruce Lee dj-ing(he loves that shirt) and a pair of jeans that cuffed at the end to reveal black allstars.

"Was I missed?!" He says to no one in general in an announcing energetic tone.

"Can do. We'll have to interrogate her." Luke wasn't a talker in the least, however. He moved towards where the tapestry was. Luke sensed something weird from the tapestry. It was magic, but yet it wasn't. If one didn't have magic, they wouldn't be able to sense anything from it. "Something is up with this thing.........." Luke looked at the picture. Was it magic imbued? Cursed? Possessed? Was Luke just paranoid or jittery from a lack of sleep?

"I need to see the journal that mentions the tapestry," Luke said

Jason Maddox was in his office, after Corin, Piper and Luke had left. He found another case. A man found dead with nothing more than a pool of blood. Jason packed his things and went out to the crime scene. He got his briefing. No bullets, no visible projectiles

The man lay in his pool of blood. Jason approached the officers already there. "This case goes to DDASPETAMI," he said, showing his badge. The normal cops stood down as he approached the man. Maddox slipped on his gloves and pulled out a briefcase. Basically the equivalent of a forensic dusting case. Was this all to the crime scene?

Jason looked up a city-posted camera and made a call

Alex:

It was about 8:30 by the time Alex- one of the interns- made his way inside. Some of the workers had already finished their morning routines, but others were just arriving. His appearance suggested that he was supposed to be here sometime before, as his 'dress shirt' wasn't even fully tucked into his pants and his shaggy hair clearly hadn't been brushed. He wore chucks and somewhat tight jeans (THough not true skinny jeans) with his shirt. In his hands he had two cups of coffee, though one may not know who it was for.

As he came in, he passed Mo, who seemed to be getting in a bit late as well.

"Hey," Alex said as he passed, offering a bit of a friendly smile towards the relative stranger. Alex didn't really know much about Mo, but he'd seen the guy around some.

Liliana:

Meanwhile, Liliana finished cleaning her own weapons and left the room, heading to the man workroom to sit at her desk. As she fell into her chair, it swiveled around and she propped her feet up on the desk. It had been relatively slow lately, and it seemed the cases that were in right at the moment had people on them. She briefly wondered if Maddox needed help, but figured he'd ask if he did whenever he came back.

Well, it was probably better when they weren't needed, getting paid to sit at a desk just wasn't Lilliana's style.

Remus

Black cat scat

Another note worthy day for Remus.  Souls were popping up left and right, people seemed to be making a holiday out'a killing themselves or being murdered.  Every soul a new sight.  A new torn up body, or a flattened man, or Sam who was tragically caught with his pants down and his head, off.  Surely Remus will be getting paid overtime for this, it's almost as if the world decided to fix the population crisis within a day.  But why today?  Surely, there must have been something up, something super natural.  Remus pondered how he was to solve this crisis, all the while escorting the next group of souls.  It was a whole family, mother father and two daughters, tragic.  Remus looked at them all, putting on his best practiced smile.

"Alright!  Guess who's dead, you are!  Ah don't worry though, it's not as bad as you think, once you get over the whole being dead part!"  Remus said this while handing each member of the incorporeal family a colorful brochure that on the front read "YOUR DEAD AND HOW TO DEAL WITH THAT!"  Remus was happy that souls took the forms of see though humans, less he would have made all these brochures for nothing.  He continued talking.  "Okay, so what you gotta do now is head down the street, take a left.  There will be a man in a yellow poncho named Pedro, give him three winks then get in his red mini van.  Oh, if it's not read though, don't, get, in!  The family looked at Remus, slack jawed at just how honest he was being.  Remus watched them, waiting for them to do as he said, and as they began to shuffle uncomfortably down the street, Remus called to them before they got too far.

"Hey I'm just messing with ya!  For real though, just wait a few seconds for a flash of light.  And say hi to big guns up stairs for me will ya?"  With a snap of his fingers and a flick of his wrist, the soul family began to vanish, before fading entirely.  Now then, back to figuring out why so many people were dying today.  Remus had to sit down and think, ponder this question, this riddle that could be the key to saving the world.  No, the universe.  Remus thought about what he had did today, maybe something he saw would give him a lead.  He woke up, then got to work.  Going from soul to soul, ferrying them to the underworld or heaven or Lord Death directly.  He had been doing that all day actually, which is most unlike Remus...

It hit him.  Like how an ice cream truck slams into a squirrel running across the road after not bothering to look both ways.  The body count had not changed, no, it had stayed the same.  What changed was that Remus was actually working today.  The reason he had seen so many souls was because he forgot his "one then done" rule today.

As the realization hit him, Remus couldn't help but to bring his hands to his head and shake in disbelief.  Horrified, he mumbled incoherent words while he rocked himself back and forward.  "No... this can't be... I actually did what was expected of me... I did my job!"  Remus screamed into the air, a great guttural yell that pierced the heavens above.  This couldn't be, it had to be a nightmare, a horrid dream, anything!  But it was real, and knowing that caused Remus's world to crumble before him.

"I-I have to shirk my work!  I have to buy ice cream!  I have to watch all nine seasons of The Office on Netflix!  I-I-I!"

Pause, silence, almost as if the world itself ceased all noise just to listen to what Remus had to say.  Remus took a shaky breath, gaining control over himself once more.  A smile crept over his face, as everything began to fall into perspective, he knew what he had to do.

"I have to flirt with Galleytrot."

@Sleipnir

As Mo moved over to his working area he took a sip of his drink and smiled back at Alex, warm and friendly."What's up?" He asked, genuinely wondering if anything exciting is going on today. By the way he smiled he could tell Alex was just extending curtosy of saying hello to stranger, but he didn't blame him for it. Mo hadn't worked nearly long enough to expect everyone to know his name or anything and he didn't really expect anyone to notice him either. For the most part he didn't really interact with the agents only the people who come in to report a crime to them, or witnesses to sketch out their aggressors like sketch artists do for the normal police; half of which are just fanatics who believe something supernatural is going on when in reality it's just a waste of valuable time and resources for a perfectly normal situation.

It could also be the fact of where he decided to position himself. He was a new enough addition to the department to not have his own desk and even if he did he probably would have requested something else. So after a couple days of having no place, he picked up an art table from a garage sale that was in pretty bad shape and fixed it up a bit before bringing it in early one day toward one of the corners of the main room. He found that the corner facing toward everyone in which he is positioned is one of the best places he could have chosen, allowing him to observe the business of the department for inspiration when he isn't helping some loony who claims his ex-wife is a demon from hell.

The only time he ever really did any interaction with the agents is when he took it upon himself, to ditch his job sitting around to follow the agents to a crime scene. By way of using his sketch book he draws out the scene and restructures it in his mind for the detectives hopefully giving them a new perspective or helping them realize something about the crime scene they hadn't before that he noticed due to close observation. By this way he helped solve a couple cases indirectly.

He quickly moved to his table and placed his brief case and drink on it, deciding perhaps it was time to be a little more social than he had been since his time here, which is actually abnormal of him to be so distant. "Busy day today?" He asked Alex while looking through his drawers no one took his pencils. Those things are expensive.

@Hel

Piper handed off the journal to Luke, glancing at him as some of the agents brought the tapestry out and laid it out in full view. It did make everything feel... Strange, that much was abundantly clear and for Piper, it was almost overwhelming. It wasn't necessarily a foreboding — not necessarily bad, she reflected, but extremely out of place and different, as if there was perhaps something extra that shouldn't really have been there. She could see how one would become particularly hysterical if this was normal for it or if they were already under a great deal of stress — the entries were okay at first, all implying a similar sort of feeling as Piper had, but over time they got less and less coherent and began making note of strange things — sometimes entities the girl was swearing she saw, things trying to speak to her that shouldn't. "I don't like any of it," Piper finally said at a length, shaking her head and looking at Greyston and Luke. "I want our specialists to look at both of them. Sanja and Valerian might be able to tell us more if there's magic or a curse here."

@Hel @Kylesar1

A man had been wandering along the edge of the room throughout the conversation and had been listening carefully. He glanced over at the trio, dark brown eyes trained on the tapestry for some time. He figured he'd have to keep an eye on them — this was his case as far as he was concerned.

Galleytrot didn't particularly care that the department was working it. As far as he was concerned, that would only help him — he could quietly observe the evidence and listen to their theories, make what he could out of it. They had pieces he didn't. He had pieces they didn't. The advantage was his, though — they would share what they find. Galleytrot knew things he wasn't sharing.

It it would work wonderfully in his favor — assuming he could remain discreet and no one drew attention to him.

@Rantos

Luke looked at the journal. As he flipped, he talked "I could tap into the security feed in this place and see if I can catch her acting weird, as per the entires would dictate. Talking to something, cowering, whatever.........It'd take a minute, but I could do more than that. It's not uncommon for the spirits of the dead buried under or dead former residents to walk about a house from time to time." What he meant was infrared, catching any entities on camera.

"The problem, of course, is that I'm no expert on those things, so even if I do, what then?" Luke didn't have the magic to track them, and the technology was in development

@Hel

@Sleipnir

Unlike the other two, Greyston noticed no change in atmosphere when the tapestry was brought out. Luke had brought up some good suggestions as per usual.

"If you find something in the security feeds then we have a point to start with, anyway. We can pull Sanja out here and see if she can find or sense anything, maybe, she could surely use some fresh air." He said, looking to Piper to hear her plan before turning to investigate the rest of the house. The police often missed over obvious clues in his experience.

@Sleipnir @Kylesar1

 Alex

"Oh, not so busy... not busy ever really. I usually just organize all of the case files and whatever." Alex says looking at Mo. "So what do you do? No offense but I don't really recognise you. Are you new? You're not one of the healers or researchers, I'd have seen you before, right? What's your name?" He asked. Firing of questions was sort of his M.O.

Pouring over the books, the young witch sighed as she rested her chin in her small hands. As an herbalist, medicinal specialist, she was having a hard time discerning the author's words. Dreamscape was such a complicated thing! To her amazement it seemed like the process was far more different, and more complex than what she was originally expecting. What with her original thoughts that merely taking some hallucinogenic would work the same, by this point in time she had settled with herself that it wasn't that easy.

She was only about two chapters into the tome, and narrowed her eyes as she read over a rather strangely written sentence. "Crias, the misnomer used as a deity's name in the book, ...." To the next page " variation of this Silver. E.P.N." Confusion stopped the healer from reading, and with narrowing of her mauve eyes she looked down to the page numbers in confusion. 66... 67.. She read the line over and over again. The book certainly wasn't missing anything.

She rubbed her eyes and groaned quietly to herself, wondering if it was just that she was tired that all of a sudden she couldn't read plain text.

Luke pulled out his laptop and floated it on electromagnetism to avoid contaminating the scene. He took a deep breath and his laptop started going crazy as it tapped into the cameras in the house. "There are more cameras in this house than it looks," he said off-handedly. "Someone must be a security junkie. Paranoia."

Luke looked at Greyston and Piper. "There are lots of cameras in this house............. Interestingly, the room with the tapestry has the camera cut off at about the time the journal started mentioning it regularly." Luke showed them the video footage that was actually recorded. At the time in the video, an entity walked out into camera view, shown in infrared. "Your eyes are probably better than mine, considering my face has been in dark room for the past 72 hours. I need you to identify this creature. I'm gonna go see if this camera in question has been broken or covered." It wouldn't surprise Luke if the camera was broken by the entity of the camera

He left the laptop floating and pulled out his cell phone. It showed the same thing as on the laptop

The problem was that the camera was just cut off. That entity didn't walk towards the camera to destroy/cover it. Nothing was shown to have looked at the camera.

Mo slid his briefcase on the surface of the drawing table and popped it open, revealing a drawing notepad and a couple utensils. He pulled it out and showed some of his drawings to Alex, which are mostly filled with either the unless descriptions of the people came to him or personal drawings he did when he was bored.

"It's alright, I haven't been here more than a couple weeks and I'm usually pretty secluded from everyone else. I'm the new sketch artist." He explained, laying down his pad. He laughed a little when Alex asked him if he were a healer or researcher."Nah, I'm just some regular guy who can draw a little. I'm Mo, and you are?"

Seraphina opened her eyes and sat up in her bed. She looked at the clock and sighed. The sunlight poured through her window and shone on her skin. She sighed and got out of her bed. She took a quick shower and began to get ready for work. She grabbed one of the many white button ups out of her closet and began to get dressed. She picked up her pistol and put in her waistband, covering it with her jacket. She grabbed her keys and bag and walked out of her apartment. She began her morning commute to work while looking around the town for any changes. She entered the building she works in and walked to her office. She sat in her desk and looked at the pile of paperwork and sighed.

It was cold in the morning especially in November 0100 in the morning to be precise when it was the coldest Viktor thought and yet he thought who would be crazy enough to run through the street with rose growing out of there back arms tied and chained wearing barely anything, well that would be a magic user that escaped from Viktor's torture. Viktor looked down his rifles scope and saw the mage running through the streets screaming for help. " Now now now, it's 1 hour after midnight, it's very rude to scream." Viktor whispered to himself pulling the trigger on the helpless mage. The bullet went through the mages heart and as it exited a tree sprung to life in the middle of the sidewalk capturing the mages falling body inside of it. Viktor laughed as he looked at his masterpiece it was beautiful he thought as he made his way off the roof and sunk back into the night. " Now let's hope our other party guests haven't left without saying goodbye yet." Viktor said laughing

Piper frowned and watched the video segment. She was no less bewildered than anyone — the fact that the camera just stopped without any obvious intervention solidified her assumption that this wasn't a mundane event. It appeared to be a human shape — the video wasn't bad quality at all, but the person in question obviously didn't want to be recognized and was wearing a hoodie. No shock on that one. "It looks like we'll be trying to find some sort of humanoid," she guessed with a shake of her head. "At least that narrows the pool of potential suspects a little bit." She paused long enough to throw a short look at what she assumed to be an officer examining evidence off to one side of the room — a shapeshifter, perhaps, or an elemental Mage? She couldn't tell. He was unusual though, that she knew. But he would be neither the first nor last unusual person Piper would ever meet.

The camera in question showed no immediate signs of damage — not to the camera anyway. The lense was fine. Nothing covered it. The wires, however, told a slightly different story: they were obviously damaged and it appeared to have been a strong power surge that had done the wiring in on the camera.

Sanja frowned and watched, then jumped when she received a text on her phone. "Well — maybe we ought to come back to it. Sounds like we'll be looking at some evidence here soon." She tilted her head and read the message again. Piper was never terribly detailed in her messages but this one was especially strange — a tapestry...? What was special about a tapestry? She had heard before of magic being woven into fabric, but it wasn't a common art nor was it ever a malicious one.

About that time, Aidan made it in.

The blond-haired young man ducked his head a bit as he passed several of the agents, glancing up just momentarily with a bit of a smile to greet them. He paused in the hall just long enough to read a note pinned to one of the boards about an alarming crime scene and the sound of gunfire in the middle of the night. Aidan cursed himself internally for failing to notice it while he was out last night, wishing he could have done something.

 He leaned into Seraphina's office as he passed, brushing his hair over the bruising over one eye before speaking. "Hey, I'm about to hit the break room to pick up some coffee — want anything?" He asked her.

Remus

Black cat heart attack

It was faint at first, no one should have been able to hear it.  The smallest whisper, coming from behind a simple couch.  But that muffled whisper rose in volume, becoming louder and louder still.  Repeating one word over and over again.  "Galleytrot... Galleytrot... yo G-trot."  As the whispers slowly became louder, like the rising sun, Remus's head began to peer over the couch he was so expertly hiding behind.  His eyes scanned the room, it was a nice room, aside from the whole dead woman laying on the floor bit, but Remus was not one to knock on someone elses interior decorating choices.  At this point, Remus was standing, fully visible and almost screaming.  "Galley-boy!"

Remus leapt from behind the couch.  As graceful as a three legged cow, he made his way to Galleytrot whom stood across the room.  On his way there, Remus added as many unnecessary rolls and flips as he could, even preforming a very sloppy dive roll on the body of the woman who laid dead.  It took a good amount of time, but after many stumbles, tumbles and falls, Remus made it to where Gallytrot stood.  He stood up with him and whispered in his ear.

"So we investigating a crime scene, incognito eh?  Don't worry.  I won't make a sound, quiet as a cat!"

@Sleipnir @Kylesar1 @Hel

Seraphina looked up from her pile of paperwork and smiled a little at Aiden. "Sure. I'll come with you." She said, putting down her pen and standing up. She noticed something off about Aiden and frowned a little. "Did you do something dfferent with your hair today?" She asked, walking towards him to get a better look.

While Piper and Luke watched the feed, Greyston moved to head upstairs, to try and find anything else that may be out of the ordinary. He'd hoped to find something more obvious, but nothing popped out at him right away.

(Greyston will become relavent again in the next post I promise )

"I'm Alex," the boy said with a bit of a smile. "It's nice to meet you. So... do you draw criminals that people discribe then? I mean, I guess that's what a sketch artist does, but isn't that really challenging? Aren't most people's descriptions really vague? How accurate are you usually?" He asked, curious about the other man's job. He knew of sketch artists but hadn't ever had the chance to talk to one- or see them work.

As he asked he looked at Mo, but once he'd finished his questions he turned his gaze to inspect the images Mo had shown him.

"Wow, you're really good." He added, after seeing a couple of pictures.

Mo proudly smiled warmly."Thanks, I try pretty hard. Yes it does get pretty hard such as if the witness was being controlled or if they were from afar. Usually I manage just fine due to the fact that if you see a demonic crime most people can't unsee it, which is enough to give me at least sufficient information for a relative sketch. In the event that I don't have accident data or need a more accurate sketch I cross-reference it with features prominent in the specifics it matches up most with as well as known criminals of such to get as close estimate of what the suspect may look like."  He explained, showing his sketch of a demon from a previous case that he helped close and the person caught for the crime. The resemblance was uncanny."I would say that I am in the high 70's to mid 80's."

Planet Earth detected. Entering the atmosphere.

spaceship___pheasant_peacock_by_b_freak_xd-d31nw0r.jpg

Invisible mode activated.

The spaceship landed somewhere in the Rock Creek Park of Washington DC, after becoming invisible. Once it finished scanning for hostile creatures on a 200-meter radius, and set up the ship's defensive system, the entity that piloted it finally came out. It was completely black and faceless, but it had the appearance of a male human of above-average height, because its creators had humans in mind, among other things, when they created Ark-D Rebbulf.

Ark-D did its homework before it came to Earth, so it knew quite a few things about it, such as some of its languages and general knowledge about the various species of animals, plants, and supernatural creatures which inhabited it. Of course it did, after all, Ark-D needed to test its skills against whatever the planet had to offer, as long as it wasn't defenseless.

As the artificial lifeform walked through the park it witnessed a male troll who was mercilessly beating a female elf. At first it analyzed the situation, and it was confused. The troll was physically stronger and apt for combat. The female elf was obviously not combat oriented, nor had she a will to fight, as she was laying on the ground screaming and crying, trying to protect herself, but with no use. Why was the troll attacking someone defenseless? Ark-D was confused. No experience to gain, no combat ability to improve, no valuable information to gather. "It must be malfunctioning. The troll is without a doubt a defective product. Must be eliminated" was the conclusion that Ark-D came to.

"Damn you, I tried so hard to get you to notice me. Why won't you love me? Why won't you even notice me? Why the hell did you laugh at me? You think I'm ugly don't you? You think you're some kind of godly beauty? I'll beat you up so hard that not even orcs will look at you! Stop crying you pointy-eared bit-"

Before the troll could finish his sentence, Ark-D stretched its right arm, transformed the hand into a blade and pierced through the troll's skull, killing him. "Underwhelming" it said, after finishing the deed. The woman had her eyes closed the whole time, so she didn't know why the troll stopped hitting her. As she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Ark-D. She was confused at first, but her confusion changed into fear once she saw the dead body of the troll. What was this creature? What did it want? Was she going to die?

"P-p-please. I beg of you, don't kill me. Please!" she spoke softly, and was completely terrorized.

"I am not malfunctioning"

"Huh?"

"I will not kill you. I have no interest in you. You are...defenseless."

With that said Ark-D walked away, disappearing from sight. Later someone would find and help the female elf.

@Hel @Sleipnir

The one trace which Allerio's arrows left was residual energy. Magical residual energy to be more precise. It was little, but it was there, and it still remained a few hours after the arrow disappeared. At the very least if one had the necessary equipment, they would deduce that someone used a magical weapon, and that it was an old projectile weapon, which ruled out the possibility of a gun.

@Kylesar1

Galleytrot cringed as soon as he heard the voice.

Oh, no.

Remus was absolutely the last dog he wanted around at that moment in time; even Skriker would have been more acceptable. Remus's antics were certain to draw attention to the pair of them — and, naturally, they did. Of course. He turned to look at his colleague, his expression somewhere between disappointment and irritation and his posture shrinking ever so slightly. "Remus, you've got to understand that this is very important. I don't expect that you're completely up to speed with what's happened here, but—"

"Are you two with the police?" Piper was making her way to the pair. Remus's little display had not escaped her attention, and she wasn't about to believe that he was supposed to be on the scene. As she approached, her firm expression turned to bewilderment and she recoiled slightly, looking at both of them for a few seconds.  These two were highly unusual, that much was obvious to her — they both had abilities she wasn't familiar with, something beyond most police officers, anyway. "Who are you? You aren't any of ours. How did you get in here?"

Aidan glanced at the ground when Seraphina asked about his hair and sort of shrugged. "Oh, I guess so, yeah," he told her, looking up again. "Just didn't feel like doing as much with it this morning is all, you know? Slow start. Thanks for offering to come with me," he added with a bit of a smile.

Seraphina studied Aidens face and nodded. "No problem. I'm not working a case right now and I'm happy to get out of the shoebox I call my office." She said, smiling. She grabbed her phone off the side table by the door and put it in her pocket. "Shall we head to the break room?" She asked, looking down the hall.

Later in the morning
