Cupid's Arrow
Welcome dear viewer, to the final week of our Jeju getaway on Cupid’s Arrow. The contestants have been getting quite cozy with each other and some love triangles seem to have formed. It’s been quite wild in all honesty. A lovely woman left the show due to getting her heart broken by one of the bachelors, isn’t that the saddest thing you’ve heard all day? Don’t worry though! Cupid found out some juicy information over the weekend which involves a certain rapper. What is this information you may ask? Our deep-voiced rapper has feelings for a certain woman that we have decided to invite to the show! Of course, this was a high school crush but you know what we say, love never truly goes away.

But enough of spoiling the fun, this week we are going to be focusing on missions that test the relationships that have formed between our lovely contestants. Will people change their minds? Will hearts be swayed or will they stay true? Honestly, we aren’t sure ourselves! Cupid’s arrow seems to have hit everyone multiple times and it’s proving to be the most difficult two weeks this show has ever seen. First up on our list of missions is an extreme sports boat ride! Each woman will be picking her partner for this mission and each couple will go tubing. Of course, it’s not that simple. They must keep their partner on the tube even at high speeds and rough waters. The couple that stays on the longest wins and will be rewarded with something quite special. So place your bets now and we will see who the winners are in this episode of Cupid’s Arrow!

MOON DA-YE

Filming first thing in the morning wasn’t exactly ideal, especially when you had stayed up the previous night drinking with your co-stars. Long story short, Da-ye had a massive headache and wasn’t in the mood to get touch-ups for the day of shooting that she had to be part of. Not that she knew what the episode was going to be about, just that it involved the ocean and she would have to pick one of the men to be her partner. That wasn’t really what she wanted to worry about though. A heavy sigh escaped her as she relaxed in the stylist’s chair, taking a few headache pills before she started eating some of the food that was brought to her. She spoke with the stylists for a bit, mostly asking if they heard about the drama that went down over the weekend and if the woman who left was okay.

It had been kind of chaotic during that day. The woman, who was a popular actress, boldly confessed to one of the contestants and basically had wanted to secure him as her partner for marriage right then and there, but he rejected her. It was in front of everyone and honestly, Da-ye didn’t know whether to feel embarrassed or bad for the girl. She practically ran away after that, not even stopping to give an interview or talk about what was going on. It made things really awkward for the rest of the evening, mostly because it was all anyone could talk about. The whole idea of the show was still a bit odd to the idol but she didn’t think people would actually fall for each other. It was supposed to just be for show.

The car pulled up to the filming location and already Da-ye could see the film crew and cameras all set up, ready to capture the contestants arriving at the location. She felt a bit awkward, considering she was the first person to arrive but decided to get out of the car anyway. When she opened the door she smiled at the crew and greeted them upon exiting the vehicle. The show’s two hosts were there and happily smiled and greeted the first contestant. “I guess I got ready a bit faster than I anticipated.” Laughing a bit awkwardly, she quickly walked down the short staircase that led to the lovely sandy beach.

“It does seem like everyone else slept in, doesn’t it? But that’s okay, everyone else should be arriving shortly so you won’t be the only one for long.” While she knew it wouldn’t take too long for people to arrive, Da-ye still felt a bit nervous and self-conscious, especially because she knew that the other women would be dressed in much prettier and feminine outfits than her. While she doubted any would be in bikinis, she knew that they would dress to impress while she was dressed for practicality.

The tension in her shoulders eased up as the same black car she arrived in pulled up, signaling that another person had arrived. She hoped it was one of her friends that she had made before the show or even Kyung as he seemed to help her loosen up a lot of just have fun. She actually really enjoyed his company and found that their dates were some of her favorites. Of course, in the back of her mind, she knew that she needed to secure someone as her partner for not only the mission but for the marriage portion of the show which was a bit stressful for her. It seemed like everyone had genuine feelings for each other while she was viewing the whole thing as acting experience. She just hoped everything would go well and she wouldn’t regret any of it.

KYUNG.

Kyung had recently found that the stylist's chair was a great place to have a nap. He didn't frequent salons very often, really only going if he had schedules, which were few and far between compared to his idol co-stars. Now that he was on Cupid's Arrow, he was getting made up at the salon almost every day at ungodly hours of the morning, and it turned out they had very comfy chairs. He wasn't exactly well-rested most of the time, so this quickly became his new favourite place to catch up on missed sleep.

So as the stylist slapped sunscreen onto his face that morning, Kyung was sitting with his eyes closed, not awake but not quite asleep either. People buzzed around the shop, whispering about the events of that weekend. All that drama had given him serious secondhand embarrassment. That poor girl got rejected in front of everyone. He could only hope for nothing like that to happen to him. He wasn't sure if he was dreading or looking forward to proposal day. Kyung already knew who he was going to propose to, but if he was being honest he hadn't really gotten the impression that she was as interested in him as he was in her. All he could do was try his best to win her over, although he didn't think he was doing a very good job so far. Somehow when he was around her he always managed to make a fool of himself. He was determined that today would be the day that he'd be cool instead of painfully dorky.

Kyung didn't really know the details of what they were doing today other than the fact that it was at the beach. He'd decided to put on a t-shirt and shorts over his swimsuit, so he could take them off when he needed to. He hoped it wasn't anything extreme. He'd be overwhelmingly happy if he could just float in the sea, soaking up the sun. But then again, this was a reality show, and reality shows love to torture their contestants. What if they had to wrestle sharks or something? He wasn't ready to get eaten! Well, they probably wouldn't make them do something that extreme, right? But Kyung just knew his cortisol levels were going to be sky-high by the end of the day.

He was suddenly snapped out of his musings by the stylist aggressively shaking him awake. He couldn't blame her, really. She'd tried to wake him gently the first couple times he'd fallen asleep at the salon, but he was such a heavy sleeper that she had no other option than to be a little... violent about it. The car had arrived to pick him up, so he said goodbye and saw himself out.

As soon as he walked out the door, a loud chorus of cicadas began to sound. Many found the chirps annoying, but to him it was comforting background noise. It didn't feel like summer without the cicadas. Kyung decided to get himself a cup of coffee before getting in the car, wanting to enjoy the ambience for a little bit longer. Plus, he really needed a kick of caffeine to have any hope of staying awake for the rest of the day.

When he arrived at the set, the production and camera crew were all there. Kyung got out of the car, his head lowered in a bow as he said hello to the staff. They all probably had to get up earlier than he did, and he was suddenly feeling guilty about the iced coffee in his hand. They probably needed it more than he did. Maybe next time he'd buy coffee for the staff. "Has anyone else arrived?" He asked, looking around and spotting a person on the beach. "Daye-ssi!" He called out, his voice coming out softer than he'd intended. He made his way down the steps to meet her. He could already feel his lips curling up into a big, dumb grin as he said hello, nervously scratching the back of his head. His body seemed to move on its own accord at times like this. "What do you think we're doing today?" He asked, turning to look at the ocean. "Maybe surfing?"

choi sooyeon

so, so excited~!

"sooyeon... are you sure you're wearing that? you're absolutely sure? what about the one you tried on? i'll even give it to you for free." sooyeon opened her eyes, her gaze sliding over to ara as she gave her roommate a bemused smile. ara had been nagging her to get a more... stylish swimsuit since last night, offering up ones from her own brand with as much gusto as sooyeon had come to expect from her. even while they were planning their visit to a quaint little cafe for breakfast this morning and up till now, when they had already gotten into the swimsuits they'd be wearing for the rest of the shoot today.

"yes, unnie. i don't think it's my style. you pull it off very well, though." sooyeon's smile grew a little wider at her little comment as she looked at ara's comparatively very fashionable one-piece that was undoubtedly very flattering on the fashion designer. did ara model her own designs? she couldn't remember if she'd ever told her, but sooyeon reckoned she could have a career in that too. "it's just— if we're headed to the beach, isn't it a little impractical?"

ara gave her a knowing look. "fashion, yeon-ah." her comment elicited a small giggle from the other girl, and in turn resulted in her receiving an annoyed look from her stylist, still trying to curl her ponytail into a mess of waves. sooyeon murmured a sheepish sorry. it was a quiet little morning, and sooyeon thought that she might miss being able to sit in the stylists' chair every morning. it had become so normal to her that she wondered how she'd fare without someone doing her brows at 8 am once they left jeju, though that would certainly be the least of her concerns then, considering she'd be married by then. that was a wild thought, one that sooyeon didn't particularly feel like mulling over. it was a quiet morning, and sooyeon wouldn't let the anxiety of the upcoming choices affect the comforting calm that had settled. she closed her eyes, letting the stylist take the reins.

she'd said she was confident that they wouldn't be late, since she'd planned everything down to the minute, though a little hold-up when ara couldn't find her shawl (she'd left it in sooyeon's bag) had certainly stressed her out. just a little, despite ara's assurances that they'd be more than punctual. it seemed that her unnie really did know best. as the vehicle pulled up, it was clear there wasn't a soul in sight, save for the huddle of staff fussing over their cameras and equipment. as they got closer, sooyeon could just make out two figures down at the beach, though she couldn't quite tell who it was just yet. "we're here," she stated the obvious, giving ara a small smile, "i'm kind of excited for today's activities. it's a good day for the beach, no?"

the vehicle rolled to a stop, and sooyeon hopped out, calling out a thank you to the driver as she waited for ara to alight as well. from her vantage point here, overlooking the waves, the figures now revealed themselves to be kyung and da-ye. her original observation had been otherwise sound— those two were the only ones around. it seemed no one else had arrived just yet. sooyeon fell into a small bow as she approached the producers, greeting them with a pleasant "good morning" that came out a little more formal than she'd liked. she was nagging to ask about what they were doing today, but part of her wanted to leave it up to the surprise. the show had been full of first times for her, and maybe part of the joy was finding out what new thing she'd get to try. the comforting sea breeze and the pleasant smell of the waves only told her she'd probably enjoy it, regardless of what it was. would it be something with water? she hoped so. sooyeon was dying to dip her toes into the ocean, and it didn't help that it looked so pretty from up here. it was a gorgeous shade of blue, none of that murky business google reviews always complained about. gosh, she missed going to the beach. how long had it been since she'd been to one before today?

"you can go join da-ye and kyung on the coast." sooyeon responded with a gentle 'thank you' before heading down the staircase leading to the sand, walking in step with ara. she stopped right before she hit the sand, deciding to go barefoot. it was a definitively good choice, and sooyeon relished in the half-sinking, half-solid feeling of walking on sand that she'd so dearly missed.

"da-ye unnie, kyung oppa!" she called out, waving her free arm as she approached them and giving them each a beaming smile. she hadn't the chance to talk to kyung much, but da-ye had been very pleasant to be around for the past two weeks. sooyeon would miss seeing her every morning. bending down, she dropped her slippers onto the sand beside her, remaining in her crouched position as she peered down the horizon. it was scenic. she'd have posted a picture on instagram, except she didn't really use instagram. she'd always been the type to take mental photos, and this was one for the scrapbooks. "the weather is so nice today."
