  2. Graviton Construction - Edel condenses gravitons into physical forms, such as shield bubbles and blades. Each construct can only absorb up to a reasonable amount of force before they dissipate back into their intangible forms.
  3. Attract and Repel - Edel manipulates to either attract or repel objects, much like telekinesis. The larger the object, the harder it is to manipulate.

  Backstory:
  
  • Born in the month of December, in the year 2012, to a humble family in the small town of Ålesund in Norway. Much like any other Riftwalker newborn, Edel's birth caused a distortion in the fabric of reality and tore open a temporal rift in the clinic. An anomaly, in the form of a massive octopus monster, invaded and caused a widespread blackout that nearly caused the lives of many immunocompromised individuals within the health center. Thanks to the Infinity's quick response, the monster was defeated and the rift was closed, having little casualties aside from "unexplained technological short circuits and electrocution" experienced by the citizens.
  • The baby Edel was then taken to the Infinity's headquarters where she was raised and trained to be a soldier. At the age of six, her command over gravity has shown itself and impressed Doctors. They continued to hone her and introduced her to other skills, all done with the hope that she'd take up the mantle of being a platoon leader some time in the future.
  • By the age of eighteen, Edel was deployed to Platoon X17, though not as its commander but as a freshly graduate recruit. For 5 years, Edel worked with the team with a smooth efficiency. It was thought that she'd have her own team by the time she was 25, which would be quite a feat for a young Riftwalker.
  • The attack on the headquarters happened shortly after they celebrated her 23rd birthday. It all happened so fast, and so cruelly. The next thing she knew, her squad was dying at the hands of the Abyssal Order while she was left with no choice but to abandon them and evacuate to the year 2033.
  • From then on, Edel has been helping the Infinity get back on its feet. Recently, she has been named the leader of one of the many newly formed squads. "The Commander of the 5th Platoon", had it happened any other way then she would be walking with joy. Yet after everything, she could only hope that she'd be capable enough to make sure everyone stays alive.

( "At the end of the day, they're only illusions. Can't really hurt you. Of course, if you can't trust what you're sensing, how sure are you you're not shooting at just an illusion?" )
  • Dissipate - Ari is able to vanish into smoke and reappear somewhere else within short distances. ( "Like those ninja guys in that one show that throws down smoke bombs. Though, I guess I am the smoke in this scenario." )
  • Construction - Ari is able to create a limited range of objects using her smoke— oftentimes, she can make barriers or basic platforms that she can move to allow group transports to certain areas. The bigger and more complicated the object is, the greater the effect on her. ( "You don't understand, I will literally choke on smoke if I make any more." )
  
  Weakness: Her  Hallucinogen requires a lot of concentration from Ari— forcing her to stay stagnant outside of the smoke making her practically a sitting duck without adequate preparation. It can also be blown away by strong winds. Her teleportation is limited by vision, distance, and blockage— if smoke is unable to seep into an area, Ari is not able to teleport into it. Elongated use of her magic can lead to asphyxiation, passing out, and eventual death if she is not careful.

Ari excels more with long-ranged combat due to her tendency for more support-oriented roles, rather than being on the frontlines of combat.

  • Picture this: At the heart of the Raging 20s, at the height of the Prohibition Era when crime and alcohol went hand-in-hand, in the glorious City of New York. Alcohol was like gold poured through, and the McCoy family had a lot of it. Shaking hands with the mafia and paying off the police, the family thrived in the glorious city.

  • Ari was brought to the Infinity Headquarters at the age of seven with a distant look and a will stronger than iron. She disliked being treated differently and tended to be more defiant— perhaps as a result of her upbringing and what she had witnessed. Still, they could realize talent and ability when they see it; after all, the kid could already use her power when she was picked up and her tumultuous upbringing only allowed her to gain skills most kids wouldn't have at her age. With more training, she could turn out to be a promising Soldier. Her instilled distrust of authoritarian figures was difficult to remove and a dedicated Doctor— Yasmin Laufey— had been assigned for her rehabilitation and general therapy. It took a while but by the age of eight, she was deemed able to join the other Recruits in their lessons.
  • Ari was in and out of detention— whether it was cleaning an entire floor to isolation; if there was a punishment barring expulsion, it was extremely likely that Ari had gone through it. Still, her performance was extremely promising. Combat-wise, she was mostly average; what stood out was her versatility support-wise. Placed in a team-based setting, Ari would perform exceptionally aside from a few arguments she would be involved in here and there.
  • Graduating at 18, Ari found herself under Platoon Z10. They were mostly successful in their missions with only a few hiccups. Despite many Doctors' initial reluctance and wariness of allowing Ari on the field, she proved as loyal and as efficient as the rest of them. Five years passed with little incident but the Platoon had forged a bond with each other, so much so that the higher-ups had determined that Z10 would remain the same for the foreseeable future.
  • Platoon Z10 had just returned from their mission when the Abyssal Order attacked. Caught off-guard and exhausted from their excursion, Ari's leader ordered her to help the younger Recruits escape while they covered their leaving. With a heavy heart, Ari retreated to the year 2033 alongside the others.
  • Over the year, Ari helped around the Infinity. However, she was tasked with setting up the general security of the new headquarters. Any attempt she had made to put forward a petition to find out more about the Abyssal Order was shot down due to a lack of resources and a different priority. Finally getting back on its feet, Ari was assigned to the 5th Platoon.

  Dr. Yasmin Laufey - Fortunately one of the survivors of the massacre, she acts as a sort of parental figure to Ari. While incapable of going into the field due to her extensive injuries, Dr. Yasmin remains in one of the administrative positions.​

  Edel Aarstad - Her star classmate. To many people's surprise, Edel and Ari worked together well during their duo simulations and any team-based operations where they were together. Edel tries, and often fails, to keep Ari in order but Ari knows when to listen when Edel seems extremely concerned. Their relationship is rocky, but that's just the norm with Ari with authority figures. Despite all this, Ari has proven to be quite loyal to Edel, keeping up their odd friendship throughout their adulthood.​

  Dr. Elki Viren - Usually, Ari wouldn't concern herself with Doctors— often having a negative or neutral relationship with them. However, Ari appreciates Elki a lot more. Elki was the one to provide her with the InfiCig to make sure she didn't fall victim to lung problems but would occasionally sneak in a real cig or two to share with her which is a good thing in Ari's books. Every now and then, Ari would come back to the Infinity with cigar packs from various timelines she visited to hand over to her as a bit of payment for all that she'd done when Ari was younger.​

  Mercurius Cyphus - They share a good smoke and a good game of cards every now and then and she's grown to appreciate the older Soldier out on the field. She considers him a good friend to hang out with and enjoys missions that are in conjunction with his platoon. Nothing like a bonding session during a stormy mission! The living legend wasn't as intimidating as he appeared, or was rumored, to be.​

  Siaosi Esau - Ari's unwilling partner in crime, Siaosi would tell you that her influence is making him worse and she'd be inclined to agree. She wholly believes that Siaosi needs to grow a spine and stand up for himself. Until then, she's more than happy to have him around and accompany him to his tattoo sessions.​

  Backstory:
  
  • Roughly 2.6 million years ago, in the Pleistocene Epoch, a rift appeared above a cave as a laboring cavewoman was giving birth. An anomaly capable of sucking anything into its stomach appeared not too far from where Danielle's mother was giving birth. The Infinity came and was able to defeat the anomaly, its gargantuan pink flesh disintegrating into flames but also was able to bring half of the platoon into non-existence. Seven minutes after being born, Dan was taken away by the Organization for them to raise, leaving behind some knocked-out cavemen family. So sad for them.
  • Like most children in the Infinity, Dan received her powers at the young age of 5, to be exact. Training was extra hard for a kid as lazy as her, at least during the first two years since she started. Progress with her combat skills and anything else was slow and it demotivated her a lot. As luck would have it, her instructor Mrs. Fjord wasn't one to give up so easily and took matters into her own hands. She was like a mother to Danielle, unfortunately, due to her old age she didn't live as long as she wanted to see Dan graduate.
  • Dan graduated, one of their best graduates at the age of eighteen. She was assigned to Platoon A09, they treated each other like siblings and have been on 4 missions with them until they all died during the 5th mission. She was then moved to Platoon E25, she was quick to make friends with the members of E25, forming strong bonds, but on their ninth mission together only Danielle came back to the Headquarters. She was starting to gain recognition in the infinity, a bad one. It went on like that over the years, the amount of Platoons she had joined was getting harder to count with her fingers. People had started to call her "Bad Juju Dan" or "Ill Omen".
  • If Dan had felt numb before the massacre, she certainly felt even more apathetic about the deaths now. When the only person who was willing to stick by her died at the hands of the Abyssal Order. The year after the tragic event felt like a dream as if her whole being was on autopilot helping out rebuilding the headquarters in the new timeline. She was snapped back into reality when she found out that she was going to be part of the 5th Platoon.

  Elki is athletic but well curved. She has a series of shrapnel scars that mark the outside of her left leg - ankle to waist. There are also several small incision scars behind her ears, the back of her neck, and just above her tailbone. She has a complex spinal implant that on the surface looks like small silver tabs embedded between each vertebra. When accessing her nanite network her pupils glow blue. "VIII・XIII・MMLII" is tattooed on the inside of her right wrist, and she has a sword tattooed from her clavicle to her diaphragm with a snake coiling around it to emulate the Staff of Aesculapius.

• Pre-Infinity

  Elki was born in 2052, and as with all the others, her existence destabilized the timeline. A rift tore through the Central London Hospital. Very few survived the collapse of the building or the reports of creatures that ensued. Perhaps if she had been found by The Infinity then, an infant crying in the rubble, her timeline would have recovered. But no. She made it into her early twenties before things really got messy - an anomaly in and of itself.
  
  Elki's father, Dr. Elias Viren, was not at the hospital when it fell, so the newly single father and physicist was left to mourn his wife and raise an infant in an increasingly strange world. He wasn't the superstitious type, but eventually he had no choice. It was impossible to deny the things that seemed to follow him and his daughter, things he could only theorize were some sort of quantum distortion. Ghosts. Flickers of other places. Tears in their dimensional walls. It was all he could do to hold it together. Paranoia mounted as it became clear that someone was looking for them. Not them. Her.
  
  Elki was gifted. Beyond gifted. The term genius was used occasionally but she didn't particularly enjoy its connotations. From a young age she had an affinity with tech, and in a tech heavy world, she excelled. It wasn't just her intelligence though. Sometimes her innate ability to... communicate with particular pieces of technology defied what she should be able to do.
  
  So he moved them constantly. Elias did everything he could to keep her safe, but the reality or lack thereof was taking a toll. His mind was fraying, and one horrifying night, one of those things killed him. Elki was sixteen and still on the run. By then she had developed street smarts and tech to help keep her elusive and hidden. So long as she kept moving…
  
  Even while fleeing she worked. She developed an AI assistant, she had several neural implants of her own make, and by the age of twenty-two she had tapped the spinal code and opened up the medical world to true alteration and repair of the neural-spinal pathway. She published much of her work under a pseudonym: Valkyrie.
  
  It was when she began her nanite program, Project 26-Alpha, that things crumbled.
  
  Nanites were a pre-existing tech. They were used for all sorts of applications, but each version had to be designed for a singular task and they were only loosely controlled by built in protocols. In the medical field they came in vials and once injected or applied would perform their task and then shut down. There was no way to command or control them once they had been released.
  
  Project 26-Alpha was her development of medical nanites that were not only multi-functional, but controllable, reusable, and that lived in the host. The day she injected herself with the first vial of 26-Alpha was the day she saw her first Riftwalker, and the day her timeline fully destabilized.
  
  

  Infinity

  When Elki was finally pulled from her timeline it was already to late. Her continued existence within it had seen to that. Infinity saw the potential in her, not just as a Riftwalker. Her work had been timeline-divergent and helped keep her from them for so long, but it was an asset nevertheless. She started her work with them as a Soldier, allowing her to learn the ropes and in her free-time, perfect her nanites. She made advancement after advancement, but still she was running into a problem - they would only work for her. Even people with similar neural enhancements couldn't properly connect or command them. It was one of her talents; her 'magic', as Infinity called it. Over time it became clear that while she was an excellent soldier, there was more she could do for the organization in a lab, so she became one of the Doctors, tending to all those who came back from the field worse for wear while she worked on tech for The Infinity and continued making strides in her own right. They still let her out of the lab when some anomaly that interested her would pop up, or a mass casualty event was expected. She didn't always agree with The Council, or even her fellow Doctors, but she found value in her work.
  
  It has been fifteen years since she was rescued by Infinity, and she has not aged much since the day she injected herself with her first round of nanites, though she should be breaking forty. Through much testing, she's found that she made her nanites too effective, and due to their defensive neural AI, she has not been able to figure out how to deter them from keeping her from aging. At the time of the massacre she had been running trials for Project Zeta, a deconstruction nanite. She could see a time when she would want to disappear, and she wouldn't be able to do that if her nanites were keeping her body from giving into entropy. Of course, this was done in secret, as The Infinity would not give up their lead roboticist and medical doctor.
  
  The massacre... She had been there. She had seen the thing that called itself 'The Endbringer'. She had, for the first time in a long time, fought alongside other Riftwalkers, before taking up a key role in saving every piece of tech The Infinite could. She has helped get their new hiding place up and running, but with so few Riftwalkers, she has convinced The Council to let her back into the field.
• Ability I

  NANITES: Repair / Destroy - The nanites are always hard at work repairing damage done. As long as her nanites have not been compromised, they will work to heal her with or without her will. When she makes physical contact with others she can heal them as well, but only as long as she maintains contact. The same can be said for doing damage. Elki's healing abilities are only as good as her knowledge is - if she encounters a condition or a piece of physiology she is unfamilair with, she will have to figure it out before the nanites will be effective.

  Ability II

  NANITES: Defend - During her time as a Soldier, Elki developed a new function for her nanites. They can rise to her skin and connect to one another, reinforcing not only her skins durability, but when applied to her muscles, her strength can be improved as well. This only functions as long as she has not lost too many nanites, and when she does, there is a recovery period necessary to regenerate them.

  Ability III

  NANITES / TECH INTELLIGENCE: Percieve - At the root of all her strength is her ability to interface with any tech available to her. With enough focus or physical contact she can observe or use tech, circumventing firewalls, passwords, or even a lack of functionality. By looking at someone or something with her nanites she can gather important pieces of data - vitals, status, etc etc.

  WEAPONRY: Nanite Rounds - Inflicting damage with nanites is difficult, especially when you have to maintain contact to do it. Elki's way around that was simple - load a bullet with her own nanites that she can pre-program as she touches the round to perform a task of some kind like say, remove all biological cell walls in a given area. Or, make the thyroid flood the system with melatonin and progesterone to induce sleep.

  WEAPONRY: Traditional Firearms - Even outside her nanites, Elki is a damn good shot. Of course, being able to directly interface with any programmed weapon or scope helps a bit too.

  Weaknesses

  EMP Sensitivity: Anything designed to directly impact tech has the potential to slow or stop Elki's nanites. She has developed some built in defenses, but she can't stop everything.
  
  Strength in Numbers: As nanites get damaged or destroyed all her abilities begin to slow down or potentially stop. There is a recovery period for her to regenerate lost nanites.
  
  Bio-Physical Limits: Her body is still a biological construction, and there's no getting around that. She is still vulnerable to exhuastion, damage, and death.

  • Born on January of 1988 in Akihabara, Tokyo, Japan, during the height of the country's "economic bubble" where everything back then was overinflated. Her family was one of the few fortunate ones who were able to get by during those times through their honest living, but then all of that changed when her birth had caused a temporal rift to open on the skies of Tokyo and bird-like Anomalies come out of it, causing chaos and destruction as they went. The Infinity were quick to respond to this and were able to eliminate the Anomalies and close the rift with little casualties. Unfortunately, Karin's parents didn't survive the attack.
    
    
  • Karin was adopted by the Infinity afterwards to be raised and trained as a soldier. It seemed at first that she had shown promise once she learned how to use her fire powers, but over time, she had exhibited traits that would not go well with her position, namely her softness. But nevertheless, she was able to get through by dedication and hard work even though she was among the lowest of her class.
    
    
  • At the age of 18, she was deployed to Platoon Y11. It is from there that she had grown a very healthy bond to her fellow soldiers, most especially her captain, Raikou Fujiwara. Within the 4 years in the platoon, they became one of the most successful squads to date. It was also within those years that Karin had been recommended to be vice captain, but she had a hard time deciding whether to take up the position as she isn't sure if she is capable of handling that position.
    
    
  • The attack happened. When the Abyssal Order invaded the Infinity HQ, Karin witnessed her fellow soldiers fell one by one. One of them had managed to cut off her legs as she had attempted to escape. It looked to be the end of her had not for her captain to come to her rescue, but was critically injured after he had fought so many. With the last of his strength, Raikou gave Karin his katana and carried her along with the rest of the surviving squad to the year 2033. By the time they had arrived however, Raikou had passed away from his injuries. Karin cried over his dead body.

Force Multiplier- Touch- Amplifies the Potential energy of any source by either x3,x6, or, x9 depending on how many Hands “Merk” can land on the target.

Null Tag- Enchantment/Trap- Enchants a inanimate object with the ability to cancel out Either 1,2, or 3 Sources of Energy applied to it. The number of cancellations is determined by the number of hands “Merk” uses to channel energy into the item.

Mass Driver- Ranged- An enchanted gunshot that grants its momentum and speed to whatever it hits launching them in the same direction the bullet is flying at the same speed. If properly positioned this can zone enemies out of combat, or line up a perfect combination with an ally.

Weakness:
Magic Rations- All of Mercurius’s spells are rationed out. Each morning he evenly divides his admittedly small magic energy pool. He had 3 charges for each spell on his list, one stored in each hands palm, and Can double or triple charge spells by using additional hands. However it takes time to recharge these and is not something that can be done in the heat of battle. This practice makes up for his below average levels of magic.

Organ Failure- Mercurius Suffers from debilitating and would be fatal organ failure from his mutations. His Liver, Kidneys, Pancreas, Diaphragm, And lungs cannot function without the Mechanical exo-organ system. Damage to this will see him quickly begin struggling to breathe, and his blood rapidly begin to Become toxic.

Skills:
Gunslinging- The high dexterity Merk has paired with his need to show his “extra” parts were not to be pitied, resulted in his incessant training, which in turn has made him a scarily accurate and quick shot. Even trickshots like the wild west movies he loved as a kid have not escaped his voracious appetite for self improvement. He is known for picking off stubborn foes who are behind cover by skipping rounds off of the wall and even around corners.

Knife fighting- It wasnt just the cowboy’s that Merk identified with, but the native americans as well. Particularly those of the Apache, he modeled his knife fighting skills first off of the movies and eventually after the real deal when his missions finally permitted him to meet a tribe.

Stealth- Merk has gotten very good at not being seen, usually because he must, as a three armed purple skinned man kinda stands out in ANY timeline. This he is an expert at stealth, appearing small and unthreatening, and most of all Disguise

Defense- One would think a gunslinging cowboy would be among the most “guns ablaze” agents in The infinite, but they would be wrong. Merk is more of a defensive minded warrior, usually more willing to endure a siege carefully picking off threats from a distance, than he would be to run in and handle them. His attacks are all opportunistic in their design, usually he will not make his moves unless he is sure that he will not be left flat footed.

Gun/Armor Smith Hobbyist- Merk has taken an interest in history, War, and in particular guns/armor. He has dabbled in designing and modifying the ones he gets from The Infinite, and spends most of his freetime Tinkering, when he isn’t training or working.
Equipment:
Exo-Organ System- Designed by the Infinite this system acts as a mobile dialysis machine, filtering Merks blood in place of his liver and kidneys, while monitoring the glucose levels, and mechanically Assisting in his breathing. It also has a Thought to speech sytem and speaker built in so that he can speak. While made of durable metals and able to be affixed with armor for missions, this system is critical to his survival and its destruction can kill him in as quick as 60 seconds if all its systems shut down. It is purely analog in its mechanics making it safe from Hacking and EMP’s, and allowing Merk Manual control over its functions.

x3 IT-MC .357 Revolvers- Three 8 shot Revolvers designed to Transfer Merks spells to the bullets it fires. While they were designed by The Inifinite’s own R&D division, Merk was allowed access to the blueprints and has modified them accordingly. The modifications are rather light however, rounded edges for quicker drawing, lighter triggers, alternate sights.

x3 IT-AM Daggers- Three daggers designed for killing Large Beasts and creatures. Each dagger holds in it a capsule filled with a highly corrosive and explosive Fluid, upon the user’s depressing a button on the handle said Fluid is quickly and violently injected into the target causing A sudden burst of corrosive acid.

IT-Exo Armor- Armor plating sheating his arms, chest, and Legs. Comes with a variety of utility attachments such as cargo pouches, lights, a retractable Reinforced Glass helmet, and an air filtration system for Hazardous environmental conditions.

PERSONAL INFORMATION
Personality: Mercurius is a bit of a cynical man, he jokes at his own expense and is rather Morbid with his humor. While he can act crotchety and antisocial at times, that mostly comes from his long time seclusion, in truth he enjoys and almost requires the company of others, often becoming anxious and fearful when alone. He enjoys the company of those who treat him like everyone else, he sees the stares, hears the whispers and frankly just wishes people had the guts to ask. While not exactly the kindest hearted man he will risk life and limb to save those he deems innocent and has no qualms about spilling the blood of those he deems guilty. At the end of the day all that really matters is that he sleeps well and that he did all he could to make sure others could.

Backstory: The world Mercurius was born into died long before he came to be, and if not for intervention, it would have granted him that same death. In a world where the cold war evolved into nuclear apocalypse Mankind had soaked for nearly a century in radiation, and their failed attempts to genetically modify a way to deal with it. The Animals, The People, The plants, hell the whole damn world was mutated into a horror show. Mercurius was born the last sane human of this cancerous world, and Sadly he would also be born without the capacity to breathe. His death was certain and with it, the final hopes of a feral people who could barely call themselves human.

But he was also born a riftwalker, and that first Feeble cry of his sent echoes through the timelines and a people came who could give him what he needed. The Infinite had found him, they took this dying monstrous child and would build him a Second chance at life in the form of the Exo-Organ System. Mercurius Would never forget what they had done for him once he became old enough to realize just what it all meant that was. Some would have been bitter, maybe even see them as meddling in fate or cruel. Not him, the organization was his hero.

Growing up in their Institute was a great thing for Mercurius, He fascinations and Talents would be encouraged as his natural gifts honed into what was needed. The young purple boy wanted to be a hero, and the infinite would help him to achieve that. Even when he would be deployed and see the horrors of his task, even when the missions got hard, he Believed in their mission. He would lose friends, gain enemies, and become something of a legend in his own right, but he did not waver. Not until the Infernal Assault on His home. He was there in the opening salvos, he saw his friends falling and he took up his guns to save them. Yet only a few shots had fired before his Exo-Organ system was damaged and he fell. He crawled away from the carnage to repair his suit but before he could his blood sugar dropped and he blacked out. He would awaken in 2033, the last minute repairs he was doing needing just a last push of an electrode to complete allowed his allies to save him. Now still reeling from the loss of the only home and family he has ever known, Merk is very much keen on getting even with the Abysmal Order.

  • The tattoo manifests into physical form fairly slowly, and he cannot move the body part it rests on while it happens.
  • The larger the tattoo or the greater the autonomous movement, the faster the ink entity “fades” or vanishes out of existence. Without outside interference, a tattoo whale swimming at top speed might fade in thirty seconds, while a static chef’s knife might stay for an hour.
  • When there are outside forces stronger than gravity acting on an entity, e.g., physical impact, the time that a tattoo stays animated will be much, much shorter. Ink entities are fragile, so a single impact by a large, slow moving object may completely obliterate the whale.

  • A reliable squadmate, so long as he has enough painkillers to last the session, and an honest friend, Siao is a reasonably easy-going person in a peaceful environment.
  • He’s terrible when put on the spot, and liable to make the strangest decisions to get out. That said, he’s a competent planner once you give him the time and room to think.
  • Diplomatic to a fault, such that even if he disagrees with the other party, he’ll try his best to see their side and have them see his. But it breaks down when their opinions are too forceful, and he ends up passively accepting what they say.
  • He hates breaking promises, so even if it goes against everything he stands for, he’ll follow through with whatever he’s agreed to (see: earrings).
  • A fairly placid guy, but if you wave a needle at him, make sure to hold him down because he’ll run screaming away otherwise.

  
  

  Backstory

  
  

  • His birth occurred during a tenuous time in the archipelago, when ancient cultural traditions warred with the emergence of missionaries from new religions. The chief of his village had just banned tatau under the influence of the London Missionary Society, and his brother had run away from home to get tattooed after seeing his birth, unable to bear the thought of being unmarked at adulthood. His parents, distraught by the future banishment of their firstborn son, didn’t place as much attention on their newborn as they would have otherwise.
  • When the response team from the Infinity finally found the babe, it was trapped screaming under the needle-like legs of a titanic spider anomaly, somehow still using its lungs to the utmost even when they were pierced through.
  • This might have been a sign of what was to come, as no matter what psychological therapy he went through, the healed child cowered at any form of physical discomfort more intense than a stubbed toe. It was because of this that his training bore little fruit, and his magic showed no indication of appearing. He was kept as a recruit longer than his same age fellows, and at last, when the Doctors had decided he was to apprentice as one of them instead of futilely converting him into a Soldier, his ability manifested.
  • He had accidentally marked himself quite hard with a pen after tripping on a pylon, and the squiggly line appeared like a worm enough for him to turn it into one. After extensive testing, it was found that the best medium for his transformations was a tattoo, and that it had too many combat implications for him to stay as a Doctor.
  • At the age of 21, he was finally placed into a platoon and sent into newly formed rifts. Platoon W24 didn’t really understand his fear of pain, nor his extreme dependence on analgesics, but they respected his choice, and that was plenty. They weren’t exactly friends, with multiple conflicting moral compasses in the same group that constantly fought, but they had each other’s backs when it counted.
  • Until it didn’t. One platoon wasn’t enough, ten platoons weren’t enough, the entire army wasn’t enough. So he watched the place he had been in for the last six years fall, and the only comrades he knew along with it.

While getting younger seems hardly a drawback, she will also permanently lose part of her memory, skill and experience, and losing too much will result in... well... her current state.
  
  Skills: Sophia seemingly has lost most of her skills along with her memory. But sometimes she might be able to do something perfectly, and then in the next moment have absolutely no clue and can’t do it again.
  - That said, she has a talent to operate and command a squad. As seen in her gaming record and the way she skillfully employ various animals during mock battles and missions.
  - Also, she often subconsciously says an accurate medical condition like third degree burn or hypovolemic shock, and then being clueless when asked to explain.

  Backstory:
  
  • Sophia was discovered and brought into the Infinity since young age. She then underwent trainings to become a proper Riftwalker of the Infinity. Nothing unusual here.
  • While she wasn’t showing any extraordinary talent or amazing results at first, she slowly and consistently got better, and eventually became a Doctor around her mid-thirties.
  • Around that same time, Sophia had perfected her magic, including it’s drawback. Since then, she had been regularly overusing it on purpose in order to keep working for the Infinity without getting older.
  • Then the attack happened, and months later Sophia woke up in a much younger age than what she usually regressed to, without any memory to boot. Normally, she kept her age at around mid-thirties where she reached her peak conditions as a Doctor, but this time she reverted to 18 years old, that time when she first deployed as a Soldier. According to the conclusion the Council reached during their subsequent meeting, she seemed to overuse her power way too much during the incident, and if it wasn’t for her special nature of magic, she would have been dead already.
  • After a few heated discussions between her former colleagues with differing opinions, Sophia had to undergo trainings and courses like a newly recruited Riftwalker without enjoying most of her privileges as a Doctor. Also, for whatever political reason they have, she would have to join Platoon 5 as its new member once she completes her training.

  Backstory: Noc grew up wanting a normal life like in the worlds he learned about. Even after all this time he has only wanted a family and to make a few friends who don't have powers and to actually live life for himself and not in some service to a greater power. After being trained and refusing to harm anyone that wasn’t attacking him or his unit he was moved to the medical department to be trained there. He thrived there and became well liked, though he didn’t he care about that, he was more interested in the different realities that were out there, he found that learning about the different realities out there to be the only real benefit to being there. After a few years there, he made a request to transfer to work in recon, a good fit for him since they usually kept to themselves and tended to work more in a team of no more than 5, going to study new worlds after being cleared in order to find helpful tools that could be used by their group or ways to improve the InfiniTech they had. He has often wondered if giving up this power would be worth it to go back to his life. Part of him also hoped that one of the worlds he was sent to would be his home one, even though that's never happen in all likelihood he has still kept up that hope.

Cloaking- The ability to bend light around oneself to make it seem like they are invisible. This can be shared with one other person as long as they stay within arms length to Seren.

Blinding Light- Increasing the brightness of light / light sources to blind targets either temporarily or permanently. While this is effective, it take a lot of power and Seren isn't able to use this spell for long. This spell is usually kept as a last resort.

Lumen- The ability to create light in the palm of ones hand. This spell is best used in dark places as a light source or in some cases can be used to blind enemies at close range. The brighter the light, the more power is needed.

Weakness:

Vision: Because of the intensity of Seren's spells, his vision can become compensated during heavy light attacks. While he may be able to blind his enemies, he risks damaging his own sight in the process.

Personality:
-Seren can come across as hostile or bristly. In a crowded room, he can be found in the middle of the commotion.
He enjoys exploring new places and often gets himself into trouble, though he swears the trouble always finds him.

- Sarcasm is his first language and brawling is his second. Sure he can come across as standoffish, but Seren does have a soft side. He's fiercely loyal and protective of those he cares about and will do anything he can to help his teammates.


Backstory:
Seren was born as a poor, only child in a lower working class village. His Father was a merchant and his Mother was a seamstress. Together they could hardly afford stale bread. The infamous Black Death had begun to ravage the countryside at the time of Seren's birth, but that wasn't the only thing that would level the tiny village.

When the rift opened, a thick mist like creature emerged. Like fog that stretches slowly over the bogs, the miasma enveloped the village in clouds of deep indigo and seeped through every door and window pane to steal the essence of any living being within. Seren was discovered by the Infinity after the miasma had leached the life out of every villager except for one. The piercing cries of a baby echoed through the dark. Seren lay swaddled in a mass of rags with an aura of light emitting from his hands- keeping the miasma at bay while he cried into the void.

His earliest memories are of growing up in the Infinity and being assigned from one platoon to another. Trouble has always trailed him as if it was his own shadow. Platoon 5 is his latest assignment and while he's heard a lot of talk, he's not holding his breath on his stay being long. Despite his doubts, he does wonder who else will be joining. Who are is new comrades, and will they be able to handle putting up with his antics.

  Spells:
  Electric Shock: A spell that lets him generate and manipulate electricity. Discharging a small amount to shock and paralyze his foe or to short circuit electrical devices can be done within a second and won’t cost him a drop of sweat. On the other hand, actions like unleashing a high voltage electrical blast, a large scale EMP or an actual lightning bolt will take a hefty amount of preparation time and also drain him out afterward.
  
  Magnetic Control: A spell that lets him remotely move metallic objects via magnetism. He can also enhance his own movement by launching himself off, or pulling himself toward a metallic structure.
  
  Cybernetic Access: A spell that lets him hack into devices and security measures that rely on electricity. While being less fancy, it’s actually the one that require most concentration and he has to practically sit still throughout the long hacking duration. Years ago, he once hacked into his own Neurochip and successfully made it display ‘deceased’ status to the Council. Following that major ruckus, he became the first Riftwalker ever to receive an additional surgery that made his Neurochip record all usages of this spell while also being completely immune to it.
  
  Weakness:
  Aside from Electric Shock, his spells require concentration. Controlling more than 1 metallic object at a time is like trying to write with both hands simultaneously and while he can alleviate this with simple commands like holding still, there are also other issues like natural strong magnetic field that would disrupt his spell. By the way, simple actions like drinking a glass of water or answering a single question will greatly hinder his Cybernetic Access and anything beyond that could mess up his electrical linking and force him to start over.
  
  Also, for his first spell that seems to lack weaknesses, there is a thing called “insulator”.
  
  Skills:
  Combat: Due to his fond of competition and violence, he excels in both close combat using martial arts and mid to long range combat using his spells.
  Psychological: Contrary to his crude behavior, he understands nonverbal language very well and even know advanced techniques like cold reading or psychological suggestion.
  Hacking: His Cybernetic Access is not a one-stop power but merely an assisting tool. In the end he still need to know the general idea, where to strike and what to input, be it from a keyboard or through electrical link.
  Tabletop Game: Being as competitive as he is, things like Poker or Chess is not something you can win over him that easily.
  
  Equipments:
  InfiniTech Amplifiers x 2: A small metallic plate that, when being hit by an electrical current, destroy itself to greatly amplify the electrical output. Consider how hard to produce it is, he is allowed to have only 2 copies at all time. And replacing those he used up will take some paperwork which might last for days or even a week.
  Steel Dagger: An ordinary dagger, except sometimes it can do a triple somersault before flying straight into his opponent’s heart.
  Standard handgun: Maybe there will be a time when he can’t use any spell but can still insert his hand into the pocket. Outside of that, he has far more trust in his own power.
  InfiCigs: A best bud for a heavy smoker like him.

  Personality:
  To put it simply, Erwin is troublesome. At first glance, he seems like a dignified man who is usually calm, relaxed and apathetic. But in reality, he only appears that way because he finds peaceful time boring. That’s right, deep down he is aggressive and reprehensible, loving combat and competition more than anything else. Bold and reckless, having practically unlimited confidence while facing any challenges without backing off. Violent and sadistic, almost always settling things by force while enjoying others’ pain, suffering and humiliation. Cunning, mischievous and rebellious, causing troubles for others, breaking rules and going against his higher-ups whenever possible, all while knowing how not to cross the line. Basically, an “I do what I want” dude who is smart enough to not get himself into trouble (maybe except that one time he DID got himself into trouble by hacking the Neurochip.)
  
  While having so many questionable traits unfitting for a Riftwalker of the Inifinity, Erwin has some respectable qualities beyond just his versatile magic. For example, he is a determined and pragmatic Riftwalker. Once he has a clear goal in his mind, he will do anything and use everything at his disposal to emerge victorious, regardless of how dirty or amoral it is. Also, his aggressiveness and sadism is limited toward opponents he deemed strong and challenging only, and he is more than willing to use his power to protect the weak. In addition, when someone does something good to him, he is highly grateful and will try his best to return a favor.
  
  Backstory:
  Ever since he could remember, Erwin was already a part of the Infinity. Having discovered his magic early on, he also had to receive hellish training like many of his fellow Riftwalkers. However, it is this training that taught him the thrill and excitement of violence and gradually made him became the vile person he is today.
  
  After reaching 18 years old, Erwin soon became a full fleshed soldier. While going out on mission, he had a tendency to go fight Anomalies, especially the strong ones, on his own ignoring any orders from his commander. And yet there was not a single mission that failed primarily because of his selfish action. Because of that, he never received a serious punishment, but also had to regularly change his affiliated platoon because his leaders could no longer put up with him.
  
  And then, the Abyssal Order had made their grand debut. It was when Erwin was just kicked out of his old platoon and was in the process of being deployed into a new one. As such, he had the luxury of enjoying battles with those invaders to his heart’s content. However, he got carried away and was fatally wounded by the enemy. After regaining consciousness, he was told that a Doctor had healed him and saved his life. He tried looking for this Doctor, but since everything was so chaotic after the first attack ever made on the Infinity’s HQ, he failed to find that person. It’s now a year later and he was assigned to Platoon 5.
