Futuristic Coup D'état [Detailed]

The year is 3000. Ever-growing turmoil has plagued the Earth as humans continued their destructive behavior towards the environment, governments, and humanity itself. As a result, nations have quickly crumbled and fallen. Lack of any strong political or military power on Earth has allowed a new totalitarian ruler to quickly rise to power and conquer the shells of once-great nations and dominate over the remaining human population. Having gained devoted supporters prior to his reign, he appointed his followers to various government positions. Believing in John Locke's idea of Tabula Rasa or "blank slate", he required the remaining population to have their memories, personalities, and essentially, lives, erased; believing that having members of society retain their memories of the "Old World" would be destructive to the new, fragile Utopia, vulnerable to the corrupted nature of the humans that caused such to happen. Those who refused to comply with the ruler and agree to proceed with the memory wipe faced execution. Select few, however, were chosen to keep their memories and learn from history to guide the infant society from within the population. The ruler based the new society on ideologies based on Marxist socialism and rules over the society with an iron grip, keeping the society peaceful, but controlling almost every aspect of the members' lives. Years, decades passed without any disturbances. Recently, however, the ruler has been increasingly ruthless and exploiting his subjects. Corruption is growing within the government.


You are one of the selected few who have retained your memories. You know of the existence of the others, however, you do not know their faces or identities. Like you, they were allowed to keep their memories, they watched as their loved ones were taken away from them and only could watch as they were appointed different lives, away from yours. Some even executed. It was for the best, or so...you thought. You are now aware of the corruption that is increasingly growing within the government and you intend to stop the ruler from his plans. After all, you were tasked to learn from history, and history always repeats itself.


Find the others and overthrow the government.

This idea kind of reminds me of the movie "Equilibrium" Basically you have the upholders of law, but they see the truth before the rest of the sheep populace and basically becomes the one to bring change.

Oh my gosh, you're right! I've never heard of the movie but I just read up on its wiki page and it sounds very similar.

The movie is epic. I thought it had a lot of depth and really makes you think, and to top it off, the action scenes are off the hook for when it was made.
