  • the prophecy
darkness will lead a group of four,
on a quest through the woods surrounded by dangerous lore.
by the week's end, olympus will fall,
unless a sacred item is returned to death's hall.

the one maintaining harmony holds the key,
to ultimately setting a hero free.
a terrible fate will come to he who has healed,
unless you see through the clouds for all to be revealed.

a fight takes place without a single sword,
and everything around has yet to be explored.
when the sky rains fire, the messenger will fail,
and the world will be consumed by a monster's wail.

positive traits โ”€ โ‹…โœง
Hardworking - No one can deny that Hayley always strives in any task that is given to her. Sometimes to the point of it being worrying. Though, even a hard worker is easily outshined by anyone who is naturally talented at a task.

Caring - She is always willing to lend a hand to the people around her. Some have even taken to calling her motherly because of this as she often frets about the wellbeing of others.

Level Headed - As expected of a child of Harmonia, she does not get swayed by extreme emotions easily. She keeps her cool during discussions and tries to give rational and unbiased opinions as much as possible based on the facts presented before them.

negative traits โ”€ โ‹…โœง
Self-destructive - Due to having never particularly stood out among her peers, her hardworking nature has taken a toll on her. While she frets over other people's wellbeings, she often neglects her own if it means that she will be able to complete a task assigned to her.

Envious - When you're surrounded by such skilled people, seeds of jealousy can rarely be avoided. Hayley has unfortunately fallen victim to it. This feeds deep into her self-destructive nature, if it meant that some of the limelight would at least go to her.

Secretive - She's mastered keeping her emotions under lock and key. She can smile through congratulating someone even if she's extremely jealous of their achievements. Hayley doesn't have many cracks on her armor. Though, what's important is she can get some time alone so that she can compose herself.

powers โ”€ โ‹…โœง
ACCORD MANIPULATION the ability to cause concord between others, in an attempt to keep a group in agreement, and to essentially ensure that there's internal harmony. this is a sub-variation of mind control, in a way, since the people this power is inflicted on feel a sudden need to agree with whatever's being told. this does not necessarily ensure peace, however, for the power could just as easily encourage everyone to agree on a decision that's bad/wrong/more violent.

PEACE INDUCEMENT going hand in hand with accord manipulation, peace inducement allows the user to inspire peace and to deflect feelings of distress or rage in other people, which the user would be able to sense. it is a sub-variation of emotion manipulation, however only leans one way. the user can induce peace, for a certain period of time, but they cannot do much else to change their emotions, or change their minds. people may still be thinking the same things, just at a calmer rate.

strengths โ”€ โ‹…โœง
- Hayley is naturally skilled in the usage of her powers and can influence many people at the same time if she wishes to. She is able to train in them almost everyday in the camp with aims to make the effects a lot more subtle.

- Due to her training as a libero, she is agile and has good body coordination to be able to react correctly.

- She is able to keep calm in most circumstances and keep rational thought - even during high stakes situations.

weaknesses โ”€ โ‹…โœง
- there are many drawbacks to her power. One of them being that they are practically useless in a fight as she cannot forcibly induce peace once emotions of conflict have passed a certain threshold.

- She's not particularly strong close combat and she has to distance herself from enemies to be able to fight more effectively.

- She's particularly harsh on herself whenever she fails at something. This has led to self-deprecating moments and has even led her to pass out due to her lack of rest.

preferred weapon โ”€ โ‹…โœง
Bow and arrow

fears โ”€ โ‹…โœง
Abandonment/Isolation - It's a deep-seated fear of disappointing the people around her which leads to them leaving her alone to fend for herself.

Mild acrophobia - If there is a choice, she would rather not be standing on the edge of a tall structure. She is able to buck up and stay but her thoughts are often in shambles in this condition.

Mild nyctophobia - She never quite grew out of her fear of the darkness and she's able to stave it off when there's a little bit of light. But when it's pitch black, it spikes up her anxiety.

relationships โ”€ โ‹…โœง
Matthew Samuels [61 | Father | Alive] - Hayley shares a strained relationship with her father due to not being able to meet his expectations during her younger years. She is also a constant reminder of his mistake.

Allison Samuels [60 | Stepmother | Alive] - They never paid each other much mind. Allison doesn't seem to hold anything against her despite being a child of an affair. They, surprisingly, have a better relationship than with her father.

Winston Samuels [37 | Older brother | Alive] - She was never close to Winston due to him always being overseas. She has received a couple of souvenirs from him throughout her life.

Quintell Samuels [36 | Older brother | Alive] - Quin was a free spirit and couldn't be contained by their family. Much like WInston, she rarely sees him but they had shared a good relationship when he was still with the family. He sends her mails and postcards every now and then.

Vince Samuels [34 | Older brother | Alive] - The brother who is slated to become the next CEO of their father's corporation. He's not a very talkative man and he lets his accomplishments speak for themselves. Hayley is intimidated by him, for more reasons than just him being stoic.

Eric Samuels [34 | Older brother | Alive] - Unlike Vince, he has no wishes to inherit the company. Instead, he has established his own company with the goal to defeat his father's company. Ever since he had moved out, he had cut all communications with his family if it wasn't for business and as such, Hayley has grown distant from him.

Darren Samuels [32 | Older brother | Alive] - While others focused on business, Darren had branched off into medicine and had become a successful doctor. Matthew is very fond of Darren though, sometimes, Darren seems uncomfortable with it. He is the closest to Hayley and had been one of her role models as well as caretakers before he had to move out for his college.

history โ”€ โ‹…โœง
As far as the general public knows, Hayley had the same mother as all of her other brothers - all to avoid a scandal. Matthew had done everything to stamp down the rumors. Perhaps his father's ire had started back then, because she was a hassle to hide. Allison had at least been a lot more accepting. When they had received Hayley, she had treated them just like her older brothers - though she often mused who she was from. Her childhood had been relatively normal aside from her father's lack of presence.

Her brothers were surprisingly nice to her. They took care of her when their parents could not and they doted on her. And as much as she loved her brothers, Hayley knew she had to live up to the expectations placed upon them as a Samuels. Her brothers were all growing as successful people even at a young age - their grades were consistently impossibly high and Hayley wanted to be the same as them. After all, if she did, then surely, her father would start looking her way and praising her... right?

Unfortunately, she didn't have the natural talent her brothers had. When they were still at home, they helped her out and they had managed to keep her from self-destructing from the pressure. But once Darren had moved out, it was only the trio left. Everyday was horribly quiet and monotonous and she locked herself in her room. Every achievement her brothers had gotten she strived for - but whenever she reached that point, she was always still behind.

She decided to do something her brothers did not - she joined a sports team. Volleyball became her new passion throughout highschool. Her team was already a powerhouse and Hayley made sure to cover them with her spot as the libero. It was the first time she truly felt like she belonged and that she was important. Her team was tight-knit and whenever they did have fights, Hayley often managed to smooth it over. Of course, her main secret to that was her power to influence people - something she had discovered during middle school. She didn't use it much but it was definitely helpful to keep everyone from fighting.

Her team had entered multiple competitions and had even taken home gold for some of them. The feeling of happiness and accomplishment was hollow whenever Hayley returned home to tell her parents. Her mother was happy for her - and sometimes even knew of it already thanks to actually being present during the games. Her father said nothing. He mentioned that such accomplishments were useless in the face of the future. For the first time, her mother had reprimanded him and told her to continue doing what she loved.

So Hayley did. Sometimes, her brothers would come to the matches. One time, Quintell even flew back to watch her. That should have been enough... but it wasn't. She stayed for her team and once they had all graduated, Hayley and the team gave each other teary goodbyes. She heard that some of her teammates were going to division 1 schools to continue their dream to become professional volleyball players. She entered university for business - Winston offered to bring her along during his own business trips instead of working directly for their father.

Hayley had started going to Camp Olympia ever since she was fourteen years old, shortly after she had started using her powers more. It was a place where she could belong - a place where the expectations of her father didn't reach her. It was a safe place. She has made many friends within the camp and is generally seen as a good mediator when fights reared their ugly heads over the campers.

Silas Niland
child of Asclepius
basics
Full Name : Silas Henry Niland
Nicknames : Sy
Age : 21
Gender : Male
Sexuality : Straight but curious
D.O.B. : March 15th
P.O.B. : Pittsburgh, PA
Race/Ethnicity : Caucasian/American
Appearance
Height : 6'2"
Weight : ~200 lbs.
Hair : Dark, dirty blonde
Eyes : Dark brown
Build : Mesomorph / Muscular
Style : โ€œCasual Chicโ€ / Large hoodies, jeans, and a good pair of sneakers, almost exclusively. Though casual, he takes care to be free of stains or ill-placed tears/rips.
Modifications : A small, golden hoop in his left earlobe.
Physical Ailments : None; Sy has always been rather healthy.
Psyche
Positive Traits :
- Observant
: From a young age, Sy took to people watching whenever he was out with his family. Being the youngest and rarely included in the family conversations, there wasnโ€™t much else for him to do. Over time this habit has developed in a deeper understanding of mannerisms, moods, and etc., especially when others are putting up a front.
- Focused : Sy can retain his focus on a given task or job with ease, no matter how small, boring, or seemingly insignificant. This also applies in the broader sense; once he has a clear path in mind for something he wants to achieve, heโ€™s able to stick to it.
- Nurturing : Because of a general lack of attention during his upbringing (though it wasnโ€™t outright neglectful), Sy has made it a point to show genuine care and concern for his closest friends and those in need.
Negative Traits :
- Cocky
: Due to Syโ€™s ability to set goals and remain focused, he has found success repeatedly in things he actively pursues, lending him an extremely cocky attitude that many find abrasive (even more so when it turns out heโ€™s right).
- Inflexible : Sy puts a large amount of trust in himself and his own judgments, so even when a large group of peers (or even elders) believe a different course of action or etc. should be taken, it can take a huge amount of convincing for him to do something differently.
- Perfectionist : Whether heโ€™s following his own wants or not, Sy takes extreme care to do everything properly. While this can be useful in certain situations, heโ€™s a perfectionist to a fault, sometimes taking far longer than he should in things just to make sure theyโ€™re right.

Likes : Charts and well-organized information, Snakes, Studying, Medical or clinical humor, Gardening, Baseball
Dislikes : Messy or disorganized spaces, Lazing about, 'Random' humor, Citrus fruits
Mental Ailments : Nothing diagnosable, though considered by some to be a narcissist.
Demigod Info
Godly Parent : Asclepius
Powers :
- Healing
: Sy is able to heal the injuries of himself and others (limited to humans and demigods), though he cannot prevent fatal injuries from being fatal, nor can he resurrect the dead. Small injuries can be healed rather quickly and without much effort, though larger injuries will take a larger amount of his energy and will still take some time to heal on their own.
- Energy Transference : Sy can draw on the energy of other demigods, humans, and mythological creatures, either to strengthen his own power or to pass it along to another in need. This energy is taken directly from the life source, so the amount that can be taken at a given moment is limited, though it will always replenish on its own over time. If too much energy is taken from an individual at once, or if Sy passes along too much of his own, either he or the other entity is prone to dizziness, disorientation, or even fainting spells.
Strengths :
- As Sy continues to hone his powers, he's gotten much better and quicker at healing non-superficial wounds.
- Collegiate-level pitching skills have given him great accuracy when throwing objects. Organized sports have also built up his muscle mass to be above average.
- His ability to focus allows him to remain calm in all situations, giving him a level head even when things get dicey.
Weaknesses :
- His power of energy transference has only surfaced recently, and he's still getting the hang of it. He can't easily tell where his limit is, so he usually winds up overdoing it, and the transfer itself is not 1 to 1, often taking and using more for himself in the process.
- Sy finds it difficult to run for any sort of significant distance beyond a few hundred feet at a time. A decent sprinter at best, but certainly too low endurance for distance running without assistance.
- Failure is the bane of Sy's existence. While he does not harbor a fear of failure, the aftermath of it can haunt him for weeks, causing him to become even more unwilling to compromise or listen to the input of others. This behavior can cause a massive downward spiral of repeated failures.
Preferred Weapon : Spear; Sy can use his throwing accuracy when at long-range, but it gives him general adaptability in a closer-range fight, particularly in cases where the enemy needs only to be incapacitated.
Fears :
- Minor Fears
: Enclosed spaces, and Drowning/Large bodies of water, though not to the point of Aquaphobia
- Major Fear : Being vulnerable/unable to protect himself or those he cares for
Background
Relationships :
- Emily Niland (Mother, 58)
: Sy has a decent relationship with his mother, though that wasn't always the case. It was made perfectly clear to him at a young age that Emily's husband was not his father; it was something his parents fought about loudly and often, even though they stayed together. She had two other children before Sy (both girls) when she was between the ages of 28 and 30, making for an awkward transition when he popped out when she was 37. While not a doting mother by any means, Emily tried her best to take care of a baby with a 7- and a 9-year-old running around. By the time Sy was old enough to make memories and get annoyed by his parents' fights, Emily had more or less passed him off to his sisters. While not neglectful, she certainly seemed more interested in getting Joe to forgive her than to actively raise Sy. These days she spends much of her days reaching out to her children to make up for the lost time.
- Joseph (Joe) Niland ("Father", 61) : Joseph was very vocal about the fact that Sy was not his child. He wasn't abusive or obnoxious towards him, just indifferent. Joe knew full well that he shouldn't take his wife's infidelity out on the resultant child, even if it wasn't his, but he wasn't keen on raising him either. Despite this, Sy still managed to have a better relationship with him than his mother growing up. A huge influence on why Sy started playing baseball, Joe spent many nights watching the sport, even going so far as to watch old games in the off-season. At least once a year, he would insist on taking the entire household to a Pirates game whenever they were playing the Nationals. Though a Yankees man at heart and not a fan of either team, he certainly enjoyed watching the Pirates lose. As Sy grew older and it became evident that he had a natural inclination to baseball and pitching, they grew closer and now have a genuine father/son relationship.
- Faith Matthews (Sister, 30) : Now married and moved to the other side of the country, Sy and Faith don't speak much anymore, but they make it a point to keep in touch. After all, she was essentially his mother figure and looked after him often. She's your typical oldest-sibling type, responsible yet bossy, though she and Sy rarely see eye to eye. This, among other similar things, makes it such that Faith and Sy don't have much in common at all. Put into simple terms, if they weren't related, they wouldn't be friends.
- Molly (Mol) Niland (Sister, 28) : Had it not been for the 7-year age gap, Sy and Mol might have been thick as thieves in his formative years. Like her father, Sy has a better relationship with her now than he did as a child. As children, Mol had more or less resented the fact that she was lumped in with him in many things, being treated as younger than she actually was, all responsibility falling on Faith. Because of this, she all but tortured him when they were younger, often forcing him to do her chores and other things she didn't want to do, going as far as some of her homework (not that it was a good idea on her part). Now that they're both adults, though they don't necessarily speak that often, they have similar personality types and senses of humor, making them get along well at family functions.
- Eugene (Beep) Newton (Best Friend, 21) : The Yin to Sy's Yang, Eugene (affectionately dubbed "Beep") supports him in all that he does. Where Sy is driven and cocky, Beep is relaxed and modest. Their two personalities mesh well, allowing each of them to bring out the best in the other, though if you knew them separately, you probably wouldn't think them friends let alone best friends. Beep has been Sy's friend since they started playing baseball together in middle school, the best pitcher/catcher pair. They've been there for each other through thick and thin, and Beep is the only non-family member that knows about Sy's powers. He's also the only friend that he has left after the fallout of the last baseball season.

History :
-
Sy was a late bloomer when it came to his powers; he had no idea he wasn't 'normal' until his mid-to-late teens. Sure, he always felt that he personally healed faster than others he knew, but he always chalked it up to crazy genetics or something. It wasn't until he was in 10th grade that he realized he could actively heal himself or others, being lucky enough to have never gotten seriously injured until that point. At 16, Sy and Beep were hanging out as they normally did on the weekends; watching movies and playing video games while eating their allowances in snacks. For this specific instance, they had decided to make their own caramel corn, despite neither having a recipe nor any clue about cooking in general. Long story short, half-melted caramel candies wound up everywhere, covering the pair and scalding them wherever they had exposed skin. Panicked and in pain, they both rushed to the bathroom to try and rinse off what they could, but much of it stuck fast, especially after they used cool water. In the chaos, Sy felt a surge of energy and warmth, and then a sudden lack of pain, candies hardening and falling to the floor. Confused but without missing a beat he reached out to Beep and wished the warm feeling into him as he grabbed his shoulders. Both had marks and tenderness for weeks, but they were ultimately glad they didn't scar. Beep was more shaken at first, but came to accept and even enjoy the healing powers, sometimes coming to Sy for something as small as a papercut. They kept it between themselves, but Sy couldn't keep it from his parents after having caused irreparable damage to many surfaces in his mother's kitchen. His sisters were none the wiser, having moved out years ago, but his parents acted almost as if they expected it, telling him nothing more than "You must take after your birth father." The nonchalant response of his parents left him with a renewed curiosity about his real father, but the incident itself pushed him to aspire to work in the medical field. Being able to help his friend in such a desperate and dire situation had greatly impacted him, making him want to be able to help others that couldn't help themselves.
- Sy was already in college before he found out about his second power, though this time it was less of an accident. He had broken his ankle in practice sliding into home plate, and his teammates helped carry him to the bench. Most of the team was ordered back to practice, save Beep, and the coach left to get a first aid kit and his phone in case he needed to call an ambulance. While he was gone, Beep whispered words of encouragement, figuratively offering his strength while Sy squeezed the living crap out of his friend's arm. At first, the pain was all Sy could focus on, but he slowly found his mind grower clearer. The pain remained intense but he felt stronger than ever and above the pain. Through this clarity, he was able to heal himself remarkably, making the pain disappear almost entirely and (as he later found out) turned the bad break into nothing more than a minor sprain. Having healed as much as he could, he noticed that he kept getting this feeling of strength, but he wasn't sure where it was coming from until he looked up at Beep. Face pale and eyes lolling in his head, Beep almost appeared dead on his feet, seconds from collapse. Sy quickly willed the strength out and into Beep and, while it worked, Sy ended up sending all of his own energy as well, causing him to pass out on the spot. It was from this point that Sy really worked on building his strength and powers, though not always for the betterment of others. Eventually, he was able to heal others and transfer energy without physically touching the person, and he quickly improved to be able to do so to people in the batter's box from the pitcher's mound. At this distance he started having the idea to pull energy from his opponent, leaving them just weak enough to swing slower than usual and give himself enough energy to throw a mean fastball with ease. This quickly reached the point where he was causing opponents to get benched because they were too dizzy to walk straight, and many opponents ended up passing out altogether. Being stubborn and certain he should use everything he had to give him the edge, he continued to use his powers against his opponents, almost getting worse about causing these issues and even causing one to seize. Sy eventually earned the nickname "The Pitt Reaper" and, while no one could ever prove it, the coincidences were too large in number and it couldn't be ignored anymore. At the end of the season, it was decided that it was to be his last. Several investigations proved nothing except that it only happened when he was on the mound, but the intercollegiate system determined that it was too big of a risk to allow him to continue playing. Sy was left in a spiral of depression afterward, no longer able to partake in his favorite past-time and dealing with the sudden guilt of hurting all those people. He even received notice that no one in the major leagues would touch him either. He was still set on going into the medical field at that point, but the knowledge of rejection by some of his childhood heroes hurt like no other pain he had ever felt. To this day, he still maintains his nickname in certain circles, though most know better than to mention it to his face. Sy's moved past it, though it's still a sore spot for him, never up for actually speaking about it to anyone, not even Beep.
- Still shaking off the worst of the incident, he was soon made aware of Camp Olympia. They had heard of him and his endeavors shortly before he was barred from baseball, and it wasn't long after that he made the decision to skip his next semester of college to spend it at the camp. He knew it was the only way he would be able to fully grow into his own with his powers. Sy knows that he will never be able to atone for the selfishness, but he'd be damned if he didn't try. He renewed his passion for the medical field and helping others, and was borderline over the moon when he found out the true identity of his birth father. Asclepius, the god of medicine and the patron god of doctors.

Misc Info :
-
When he doesn't have anybody to heal or practice medicine on, Sy turns to his hoard of plants. While he can't use his powers on plants, he finds joy in relying on his general knowhow to care for them and prevent disease.
- Sy certainly didn't advertise his baseball debacle, but it somehow got around to the other people at camp, practically alienating him as others tended to avoid him whenever possible. In times where he's found himself particularly alone, he finds himself missing Beep.

Art O' Loughlin
Son of Asclepius
Basic Information
Full name: Art O' Loughlin
Nickname: n/A.
Age (18 - 22): 18-years old.
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
D.O.B: 6th of May, 2002.
P.O.B: Dublin, Ireland.
Ethnicity: Irish.
Appearance
Height/weight: Art is 5'7 and weights around 140 pounds (63.5kg).
Hair: Short, light-brown, buzz-cut style haircut.
Eyes: Hazel-coloured eyes.
Build: Art would be quite lean at first glance, not appearing to have much semblance of weight on his person. Despite his somewhat small stature, the young man displays a quiet indifference with straight shoulders and good posture to boot.
Style (clothing): The young Irishman wouldn't consider himself to be the most stylish of people, nor does he particularly care for gaudy clothing in the slightest. Typically one would find Art around the camp in a pair of black, Nike sneakers (with black socks) with navy tracksuit bottoms, a black polyester t-shirt under which he has a grey hoodie. During more formal occasions should they occur, one may find Art sporting brown Oxfords (dress shoes), a pair of light-denim jeans with a smattering of different coloured shirts, most typically being either white or light-blue and wearing over them it a woollen, brown jumper.
Modifications: n/A.
Physical ailments: Art suffers from shortsightedness and therefore has to wear glasses during activities wherein he needs a greater field of vision though most of the time, he doesn't even bother. If you can find, Art would sport of black-framed glasses with a stripe of orange going athwart the left temple of the piece.
Face claim: See above!
Psyche
Positive traits (3+description): Art can come off as being quite the eclectic individual; the young man enjoys listening to others but would never be too inclined to weight in on conversations or to give his thoughts on a particular item of discussion. Though maybe not as a result but more from an inclination, Art is never too hasty to jump to a conclusion and is able to analyse situations, with sufficient speed, in order to find the most pliable solution. Another aspect emanating from his rather reserved personality would be his indifference to minor jabs and jests directed towards him, as he is wont to receive from an impression built up amongst other residents at the camp for having an 'arrogant' attitude; therefore, Art is never particularly startled by things and is able to keep a level-head during most situations. Owing to his rather quiet demeanour, Art tries to make sure that various plans and operations, whether they be orchestrated for his own use or that of a group setting (which he finds to be most inimical thing possible), are conducted properly and function without the capacity for complication by those actively partaking in it, a situation he tries to avoid as much as possible. One final aspect of his personality is that on the face of it, Art can trudge through his misgivings about groups of people and if a person happens to find themselves in trouble, he will help them; not out of any sincerity of feeling but viewing as more or less a duty, given his divine parentage.
Negative traits (3+description): Art, as one can imagine, doesn't tend to rise to the provocations that some around Camp Olympia have directed towards him since his arrival but this is telling of his cold indifference to others and his disinterest in their personal problems though, on occasion, he casts this antipathy aside from a contrived sense of 'duty'. As a consequence of him putting on a faรงade of good intentions, Art, when people genuinely try to get closer to him, tends to brush those persons aside and in a sense can be quite difficult to work with, acting as something of an individual within a group setting going about his tasks irrespective of what's going on around him. Though generally calm under most circumstances, if events should happen to develop to quickly during combat or if he happens to be the target of a particular attack, Art can freeze up from lack of time to consider all alternatives and what can be possibly be used to extricate himself and others from the dire straits they find themselves in; under such circumstances, Art would be nothing more than a nuisance and a casualty waiting to happen. Probably his most incorrigible characteristic might be his willingness to appear happy and content to rush to people's aid though in reality, this is nothing more than a means for him to act from an artificial sense of duty that he has a result of coming to terms with his lineage, being an Asclepiad. If Art can help someone, good for them but if he can't, there's also someone else in need of assistance, or so he would say.
Likes: Art enjoys reading (typically history books but typically anything that he finds of interest, regardless of subject matter), pucking around with a sliothar (see here for hurling!), listening on discussions, lively but substantive conversation (if and when the opportunity arrives he would say), long walks and a good sleep-in should he get away with it.
Dislikes: Raucousness, over-priced books, early starts in the morning, combat-training, boorish people and sensitivity/overreaction.
Mental ailments: n/A.
Demigod Info
Godly parent: Asclepius/Hepius, God of medicine, healing, rejuvenation and physicians.
Powers: Healing & Energy transference.
Strengths:
i. Given his small stature, Art is quite fleet-footed and enjoys an athleticism that allows to him to easily evade any attacks directed his way.
ii. As regards to his powers, Art can make innovative use of both abilities inherited from his father, namely Healing & Energy transference. Due to the fact this abilities are invariably used in close-quarters, Art has tried to come with up innovative ways to account for his lack of range. One notable idea was suggested by him was the creation of a tranquilliser gun, though without the eponymous sedative in mind. Rather, this gun would use hypodermic needles, collared to ensure greater retention of the needle and the substance. They would be of two varieties: the first would be his own blood, which has unique healing properties that allow it to be used on demigods as well as humans and acts through a slow-healing process; the other would be energy-infused form of nectar which, when injected, results in a fast-acting recovery for the recipient and given that it has been mingled with Art's own energy, it applies a boost to the physical and mental faculties of the person being injected.
iii. In terms of his mental faculties, Art has the uncanny knack to remain calm in most situations and to be collate all pertinent variables so as to ensure a proper outcome for himself and those around him.
Weakness:
i. Given his stature, Art has made peace with the fact that in being quite agile, he therefore lacks the capacity to inflict any significant damage against an opponent.
ii. As a result, the young man doesn't put himself into situations where even the slightest blow might be effective, due to his general circumspection and a realisation of his own impotence.
iii. The nature of Art's abilities as an Asclepiad preclude him being able to use his powers from a distance and therefore close proximity is needed in order to heal another person or to transfer his energy or that of another. Though he has conceptualised means to combat this drawback (i.e., the tranquilliser gun), even use of this would be a finite resource and therefore would be reliable in the long-term.
iv. One notable aspect of Art's use of energy transference is that he's liable to be enervated quickly should he use that particular ability for an extended period of time, and is sustained for long, could even the young man to collapse.
v. As mentioned previously, should situations occur spontaneously enough that Art does not have the time to analyse the situation, Art can quickly freeze and a near fatal nuisance for those who are working with them.
Preferred weapon: Art is quite skilled with the makhaira, which is an ancient Greek sword based on the likes of the Mycenaean short-sword.
Fears:
i. Though it isn't apparent from the way in which he acts or he expresses himself, Art's greatest fear is that someone would die either as a result of an action he suggested as being the most appropriate or through his own inability to properly remedy a situation that developed as a result of his advice. This is the reason for his circumspection, the thoroughness by which he makes various contingencies and plans, his reticence about making his opinion known and the degree to which he discourages personal connections with other people.
ii. Art has a great fear of heights.
iii. Art has a fear of tight-spaces (claustrophobia).
Background
Relationships:
i. Mam: Art has a very deep bond with his mother Kathleen given, that as is the case with most demigods, it tends to only the two of them in it. Therefore, a great deal of Art's outlook on life has been influenced by his mother through her own experiences as being a cardiothoracic surgeon. Seeing his mother come home physically and mentally exhausted on days when surgeries were do, her composed-guise slipping away as she struggled to come to terms with not being able to save a patient's life and her quiet murmurings about missing Art's father, instilled within the young Irishman a desire to never allow himself to be in such a position whereby he could come to hurt others or to allow others to hurt him. Besides these points, Art enjoys a jovial relationship with his mother that for some might pass the boundaries of parental respect, given that the two jokingly use coarse language towards each other near constantly and Art does his best to message her as much as he possibly can within Camp Olympia itself.

History: Art O' Loughlin was born at 02:53AM at St. Vincent's Hospital, south of the city in Co. Dublin, Ireland. Born to Kathleen O' Loughlin, a cardiothoracic surgeon who worked at the very-same hospital, throughout his childhood Art would have a great but odious familiarity with such institutions and thus would never appreciate being near nor in them. Given his mother's profession, Art would find himself spending a lot of time with his grandparents in the north side of the city, near Ballymun and would enjoy the copious amount of books that his grandfather, a former secondary school history teacher, would have on different eras, thus inducing within his grandson an eclecticism that he continues to have to this day. However, with the onset of the economic recession in 2008 and the loss of his mother's position at St. Vincent's the following year, mother and son soon found themselves on the plane to America.

Therefore, the first port of call for Kathleen was to find employment at a hospital within the same general area as a potential primary school for Art. Thankfully for the mother of then-unknown Asclepiad, Albert M. Greenfield Elementary School would supply the primary school setting needed for Art, which was not too far from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, which, after a disquieted time, Kathleen would find herself situated in a role not too unfamiliar from that of the she held at St. Vincent's. However, even though Kathleen would find herself assimilating to the cultural climate of America, Art was having difficulties with accommodating the rather abrupt change in circumstances that immigration entailed. But it wasn't as though there were not attempts by various school children to try and inoculate the young child to the American way of life but a heavy dose of homesickness, repeated jibes made at his name as well as his accent and an incipient indifference all delimited the young child's want of socialising. As a result, Art would content himself pucking around at home and anywhere capacious enough to allow him to hit the sliothar without fear of striking anyone, reading and doing all manners of things an indifferent pre-pubescent child would do!

As the years went on and the young Irishman adjusted but not so adapted to his immediate circumstances, so too did Art's divine parentage begin to shine through. A particular incident in 2017 at Paul Robeson High School, involving a younger student tripping down the stairs as they rushed between classes happened near Art. Noticing that the kid was in considerable pain, and other students in that particular rushing off to alert teachers to what had happened, Art paced over to the youth to try and get him to calm though Art could understand why he couldn't, given the circumstances. Noticing the that the tibia had been fractured but thankfully had not pierced through his skin, Art guided a tentative hand across the affected area. Much to his astonishment, and to that of the youth beside him, the fractured bone soon distorted and reverted back to its natural position, as though time had been reversed. However, Art felt somewhat frightened as a result and rushed off to class, passing by the onrushing teacher who was heading to the sight of the accident only to end chastising the boy for fibbin' about someone magically healing his broken shinbone. Some time later, Art would come across his other latent ability, namely that of Energy transference when his mother come home from a rather mentally-tiresome day of doing administration work. Noting that she had been rather worn out over the course of the past few days, Art lent a comforting hand on her shoulder only to feel de-energised the longer he kept his hand on Kathleen's shoulder. Consequently, his mother felt ostensibly better and even went about doing tasks around the house that was usually the purview of her son due to her long working hours before jumping off to bed, and even then struggling due to the vivacity that she had received as a result of Art's transference.

In the years since, Art had admitted these things about himself to his mother and to his shock, his mother was unperturbed by the revelation, going to recount for her son a story about his father, whom the young man himself often thought upon, but never for too long. She told that he was the son of the god Asclepius and that as a result of proclivities, it would for her to send him somewhere, for lack of a better, he could be amongst others like him and to learn to control his powers better. Thus, Art was sent off to Camp Olympia and being quite the new arrival, concomitant with his aloof personality, has garnered for himself something of an arrogant reputation, not in the least helped by the fact that a prophecy has been made in which he could potentially play a part.

Misc. Info: Art is quite the twitchy character and is wont to spin around, toy with and manipulate any little object he can get his hands on.
