Welcome to Camp Lake Lodge!
{Application Letter}

Hello, and welcome to Camp Lake Lodge, here we provide services for children who are... quite challenging, troubled, even. For the entire summer, we will take your child off your hands and reform them into functioning members of society. When you pick them up at the end of the summer, you’ll barely recognize them.

Here at Camp Lake Lodge, we pride ourselves on our strict disciplinary actions as students are expected to follow the rules, no matter who they happen to be. Failure to follow said rules or orders given by the camp personnel will result in punishment based on the severity of the crime at hand. Stealing something from a fellow camper will result in kitchen duty, while fighting another camper or member of the camp will result in infinite solidarity, where campers will have adequate time to consider what they have done and how they may make their mistakes right once more.

We believe that all children should have a chance at rehabilitation from a life of hardships and troubles. It is for this reason, the camp has decided to accept students of all genders (i.e: male, female, trans, asexual, etc) within our walls. We are aware of the concern this raises among parents and guardians, but rest assured, we will be closely monitoring campers at all times and shenanigans will not be tolerated. Students caught breaking these rules will be properly dealt with in a timely manner.

It is our pleasure to open our gates to the public once more, and to do whatever we can to help make today’s youth tomorrow’s success story. If you are interested in sending your child to Camp Lake Lodge, please do not hesitate to fill the application sheet below and submit it. Your child’s journey will begin shortly. You will not regret it.

We look forward to doing business with you!

- Winevra Hix, Director and Owner of Camp Lake Lodge

A camp designed to “rehabilitate” troubled youth. Sounds fun, eh?

Wrong. At Camp Lake Lodge, children from all walks of life from each state in the U.S. are brought together for three months of sheer torture. The camp is nothing compared to how it is advertised to parents, and no amount of letters sent home or complaints filed about maltreatment, there is never enough to have the place properly investigated. Instead, it is up to a small group of campers to band together and survive the camp of nightmares. What does this entail? Oh, I’m glad you asked.

Most days, exclusive to the short weekends, camper are expected and required to go to specific classes, as if in school. Between classes is a designated time where students can mingle and get to know one another. At this time, many students devise plans to push the rules to the limit, or better yet, how to escape this hell hole.

How far will they go before they are caught? Repeat offenders have plenty of experience with this place. They know the ropes, the rule of the roost, they know the ins and outs of the entire camp. They are the ultimate troublemakers, the exact type your parents had warned you against.

The exact type you cannot seem to get enough of.

I see beauty in everything but myself.

________________

The chilling touch of fingerprints could not compare to the surface of the glass upon them. The scorching rays of sunlight was as though blinding, although through the sickeningly beauteous blue orbs of Adrienne Song Li-Porter, it seemed to resemble the dusk of approaching darkness. Located amongst the evidence of a charter vehicle, she appeared to be considerably melancholy. The dark rings found layered beneath her two-toned brown eyes, was nothing compared to the mental exhaustion she felt coursing through her every aching muscle, though as unbelievable and illogical as it seemed. A near permanent scowl was etched upon her features, highlighting her prominent jawline, which appeared unhealthily sunken, as did her entire figure. She was a walking, breathing skeleton. Her stomach released a retched growl, warning her of its continuous starvation. A malicious music to the ear.

If only she could plead for it to stop, for the monster to leave her. That glorious, beautiful abomination that she could have never let go, no matter her fight. Lingering in her every thought and move, beckoning her like a ship to a lighthouse on a stormed night. It was the only light in her dull, dark world. Or so she wished to believe those tormenting, twisted thoughts. This was her cruel cycle, a horror to any of those who would witness it. If she let them. This itself was the reason she was located in the charter, anticipating her imminent doom.

Meanwhile, in her reality, there was nothing more to do than sit and wait. Her slender fingers grasped the edge of the vent above her, closing it as a chill crept toward her spine. She regret opening it in the first place, but the beaming sun could best any. There was no excessive need to freeze when you were already chilled to the bone. There was no fat to burn to warm her, which she didn’t entirely mind, but then again, she didn’t want to walk off the bus looking like a human popsicle. The immense hair that had grown of her arms stood on end, as she was covered in goosebumps. She was rather cold, most literally and figuratively, ironically, to say the least. Her temperamental parents would agree entirely.

We’re sending you to that camp for your own good! Hell, this has gotten so far out of hand! We can’t be seen with a bag of bones for a daughter!

Was that what she was? A bag of bones? That was honestly quite rude. How were they related again?

Camp Lake Lodge was heard to be a wonderful place to treat and rehabilitate the troubled youth of society. Adrienne’s parents, whom were rather ethical people, had researched the camp to the minimum degree, and could not find an error in all of their thought-out studies. She was informed immediately to her application, lending her a mere forty-eight hours to collect her requested items and thoughts. She had been sent off without a simple goodbye in trade, as her parents were occupied in their own plans and partying at the time, experimenting and dabbling in such things that would most definitely be illegal in any state or country in the United States of America.

You are gross! Disgusting! No boy would ever love a girl without curves! Ask your father!

He did marry a bitch, I see your point, but Adrienne would prefer not.

Of the city of Castine, Maine, with the population one-thousand, Camp Lake Lodge is the largest plot of land within the town. The camp is located of the edge of the state, leaning rather toward the Canadian border. Adrienne had researched such information the night before, curious of what she would find when she arrived. She was all too perplexed to witness lush greenery as the vehicle was led into the forest. From what she learned through her research, the land was told to be bland and tasteless, opposing the sight before her. Unkempt trees that were reminiscent of the wood Snow White had once strolled about. But more... green, more alive, vibrant and exhilarating. Although said forest did not consist of humanoid faces or tree limbs reaching out to grab you like hands would, the point was stated nonetheless.

Who do you think you are? Treating us this way? You’re ruining our reputation!

What reputation? You haven’t done anything to change the lives of others besides yourselves.

Adrienne tilt her chin upward, looking past the heads of male and female seated in the rows before her, watching as the vehicle triumphed over the rolling hills, noticing as a fading wooden sign stood amidst the uncut forestry. The wood was rotting at the edges, mildew eating away the slight color left. The letters were a faded tone of ill green, the color of fermented lime:

Taking your children since 1978! We accept all ages, new and old! We welcome you to Camp Lake Lodge!

Adrienne continued to observe the disintegrating, hideously colored plaque from the corner of her eye, finding its message to be ironic, and frankly, odd. Returning her gaze to the forest, a clearing in the scenery appeared, revealing buildings of multiple sizes. Many looked to be built of new, far more modern materials, like metals and woven fabrics, rather others on the periphery of the lot looked to be on the edge of crumbling in decay.

You’ll see, you! You’ll see that you’re sick! You’re a sick, ugly little girl!

Because Adrienne needed that constant reminder besides that river of fucked up thoughts in her head. Thanks.

The large, looming overhang was the last thing to notice, as it read, nearly to be interpreted in a dubious manner: Camp Lake Lodge, A Home for All Those with Troubled Pasts.

Chancellor slammed the car door shut with gusto. A shout of annoyance was heard from inside along with a string of curses. The driver floored it and dust and mud flew from underneath the tires as it sped away. "I love you too dad!" Chancellor yelled after the car. Even if he hadn't meant it sarcastically, the car was already miles away. The boy sniffed and he looked up at the green canopy above him. The light shone through the leaves, painting the air with beautiful hues. The delinquent spat on the forest floor. He had grown to hate this place and everything about it. He itched his nose-ring and peered around with an emerald glare brighter than all the foliage around him. He was looking for a girl. A particular girl. He knew she would be there. She always was.

"How many times to I have to bail you out of jail, you sorry excuse of a boy?"

Chancellor shook his head as if warding off gnats. They can't hurt you here.

To think that she’d been spending one last summer at Camp Lake Lodge or Hell, she so affectionately deemed it during her first stay. Now she knew what to expect and had grown accustomed to the methods of the camp. Aaliyah knew the rules, the ins and outs of the camp, and it’s workings like the back of her hand. It was easy an easy thing to do since she’d been coming to the camp every summer since she was fifteen. Honestly she didn’t understand why her parents kept sending her back when she returned just as she’d left, she’d commend them for their dedication though. Aaliyah was well known as a regular trouble maker, she enjoyed the looks of distaste on most of the employees’ faces when she returned each summer. She’d learned many, if not all of their names just to ticked them off when she called them by it.

Aaliyah had back her bags the day before and said her goodbyes to her friends. The week had been spent being the delinquents that they were. It had been a lot of fun for Aaliyah, even if she’d been banned from a store or three. Aaliyah and her parents had left early. She listened to their usual verbal jabs with boredom. Their abuse hadn’t been physical in years as Aaliyah began to fight back. Despite her delicate looks, she’d learn how to defend herself and didn’t bother to hold her strength back. They’d never been that courteous with her. Now she had a smart response to everything that they threw at her. Her tongue was sharp and her words meant to hurt. She smiled as the camp came into view. Like usual Aaliyah hasn’t bother to say goodbye to her parents.

As soon as she stepped out of the car the screeching of tires could be heard as her parents left her. Not bothered at all Aaliyah made her way to the registry with her things with her head held high and oozing self-confidence.

She reached the registry in no time. Aaliyah was greeted by some other returning campers, she could already think of the hell they’d raise together. Honestly she couldn’t wait. And being the kind person that she was Aaliyah greeted the staff. “Anne, Donald, you’re both looking as average as ever.” She smiled sweetly. “Marie, how’s the married life been treating you? Who knows the fifth time might the charm.” She breezed past them, enjoying their looks of annoyance and disdain. Soon Aaliyah was all signed in, she wasted no time with claiming her bed. Her name was carved into it. They’d tried to get rid of it but each summer she’d do the same thing and eventually they’d gave up. The young woman had unpacked her things rather quickly and left her dorm to catch up with friends and maybe cut up as well.

Speaking of friends she searched for a certain buddy of hers. They’d been kicking it at the camp for the past few years. Aaliyah searched until she came across a familiar looking face from afar. With a grin she sauntered over. “Chaney Darling, you looking for me?” She said once she was within hearing range. “Can you believe that we’ll be free from this hell after this summer?”

It was never early enough for Liam's parents. The morning he left home the last thing he heard was his mother rushing him.

The night before he had packed his bags while making his whimsical remarks to the parents who tried to help him. Even as they were sending him away, they showed the depths of their love for him by assisting in bag packing. His mother had even made a list, a ridiculous little list. The page was from top to bottom full of things he needed to be sure to pack. Liam kept joking with them about how gullible they were, about how truly laughable the idea of a summer camp changing his life would be. You know it's not like those christian worship camps you see on TV right? He remembered asking them. His jokes were met with a firm silence telling him that no matter how hard he tried to believe it was all some big (and horribly unfunny) joke, it wasn't.

They just wanted to get rid of him for the summer, he told himself. One last reminder before he hit adulthood the following year that they still controlled his life, even if it was just for now. They were control freaks to the highest degree, and Liam had mostly learned to live with it.

Liam was a clever lad, and he knew how to use the internet. So, he had. He had researched this place and read up on the few results that search had yielded. He read testimonies from parents that sounded entirely unconvincing, and detailed horrific descriptions of extreme tribulation that the kids who had been had written. Those were almost as unbelievable as the testimonies.

It probably wouldn't be that bad, spending the summer away from his parents. Certainly the absence of his friends and the local Atlanta music scene would get to him.... Still, he almost looked forward to being entirely and completely away from his parents. He had already vowed he wouldn't write them, just to get back at them for sending him off in the first place.

His parents had offered to drive him, instead of sending him through several modes of public transportation. That had not sounded the adventurous start to an adventurous summer in the wilderness, though. So Liam, being the lone ranger eternally trying to prove his own capability, had struck off alone. First by plane and then by several buses until he'd ended up on the one that brought him to the camp.

Upon arrival he felt nothing but small. It was nothing like Atlanta out here, it wasn't nearly as hot, and somehow there were more trees than he had ever seen in Georgia.

It took getting all the way there before he even started to miss home, but when it hit, it hit unforgivably hard.

The delinquent threw a green glare over his shoulder as he heard her approach. Chancellor gritted his teeth, flushing pink, “For the last time its Carnage.” He crossed his arms like a defiant toddler and the leaves made a soft crunch as he turned away from her, “and who said I was looking for you? I forgot you existed, what was your name again?” He hadn’t forgotten. He hadn’t forgotten at all. In fact, he was looking for her and had a picture of them both at camp on his wall (next to a marilyn manson poster and some bullet holes.) He was actually looking forward to seeing her again, even if it was in hell. He took out a cigarette and lit it, inhaling deeply with his back to her.

Until a week ago, Chaska hadn't even known of Camp Lake Lodge's existence. His first thought had been that, behind all the embellished words and explanations, the camp sounded a lot like a watered down version of conversion therapy camps. His comment hadn't gone unnoticed, and after being explained that he'd forced their (his foster parents') hand into admitting him to the camp, that he ought to start packing what he'd need. A lengthy Internet search had sufficiently convinced him his theory was true; the half-assed attempts to delete the reviews written by former campers easily found across various social media platforms the only evidence he needed. The camp's main site had their own reviews, but they were mostly from parents and brainwashed campees.

None of that mattered, however, because Chaska was sitting on a bus that reeked of sweat and miffed kids a week later. Most of the people he saw were around his age, some seeming more comfortable than others. There was this younger kid, probably close to 15 years old, who was doing his best to conceal his tears, and it pissed Chaska off. Not because the kid was crying, but because he probably didn't deserve to be here, to spend a whole summer surrounded by even worse influences, both from the monitors and other campees. The thought made his expression turn bitter and he glared at the window, opting to distract himself by the greening scenery.

It didn't take long before he started to feel antsy. He was bored and in dire need to stretch his legs. He did what he thought was best at that moment and shifted in the bus seat so his legs were stretched across the seat, his boots hanging mid-air in the small walk-way. Like this, he noticed the girl sitting in the seat across from him. Dark hair, pale skin, sharp bones, pretty, not the type he would have pegged as the type to be sent here, but that wasn't any of his business.

In a moment of impulsivity he reached over and tapped her seat with his boot before settling back comfortably. "Hey," He said, giving her a small nod as the bus took a turn into a smaller road, no doubt the final stretch to the camp. "Have you been here before? Do you know if the food's any good?"

Kiara Reese

Location: the bus| Interacting with: catburglar catburglar | Mentions: final girl. final girl.

Threads of sunlight beamed through the forest leaves, leaving a glare that forced Kiara to squint her eyes; less she wanted to be blind. She sat in the back of the bus in silence, allowing the light to warm the surface of her skin as she watched various brush and trees travel past in a blur. She tuned out the rest of the bus, the earbuds in her ears spewing out a tasteless rap song that Keys had added to her playlist just for the fun of it. Although, as the bus got closer and closer to camp she figured she better mingle with the rest of the rejects before hell really began.

The girl pulled her earbuds out of her head carelessly, stretching her head up so she could look over the various heads that were either chattering away, crying, or sitting in silence. The newbies were easy to spot. Though this was only her second time at the charter, there were a few faces she recognized here and there. Yet there were two faces that sat in front of her that didn't ring a bell. A boy with dark brown hair that fell to his shoulders, and sharp features to match... Then there was the girl. Pale and pretty, but frail like a pane of glass. One look at her and the blonde could tell... she was a dead girl walking.

Keys eavesdropped on their conversation - which so far seemed to be pretty one sided. The boy had asked about the food at the camp. Gag. Even the thought of that slop caused the girl to feel sick to her stomach. Without minding her interuption, Keys let out a lofty scoff "yeah, the food is great. If you like dog food." The girl eyed the other male up and down, then turned towards the girl. "First time? Oh," she shuffled in her seat, a giddy feeling filling her chest "you're in for a shitshow, but in the least.. it can be fun if you know the right people." The blonde smirked, giving the male a little side eye "I'm Keys..." she introduced, curling her fingers to offer a fistbump.

“And for the last time I don’t care. Chaney Darling suits you perfectly.” Aaliyah thought that it was funny how Chancellor insisted on being called Carnage. She never called him that just to mess with him. His cheeks were no doubt pink, which is why he probably turned around. Aaliyah smirked as she walked around Chancellor to see his face. “You and I both know that you’re lying through your pretty teeth Darling. I’m unforgettable. I almost forgot how cute and shy you are. It’s okay, I missed you too.” Aaliyah’s tone was playful as she spoke to her friend. The young woman considered him to be her best friend at camp. She’d even told her best friend at home, Eren, about him. Aaliyah scrunched up her nose when the smell of cigarette smoke hit her nose. She was never a fan of smoking, well not cigarettes at least. “First day and you’re already breaking rules. I think I fall harder for you with each passing summer love.” Aaliyah’s held a straight face despite the fact that she was joking. Again she enjoyed messing with others to see how’d they react.

Constantine B.
Interaction: Open

At first, when he came home in a cop car, Constantine hadn't expected the current situation he was in to actually happen. The brute was already pretty bruised up, so when his father greeted him at the front door with his older brother scowling behind him, he wasn't prepared for the gut punch to the stomach his father gave him. Constantine had been caught in a tussle with another boy, some creep named Lysander or Ly, and happened to be caught by a family friend's father. That family friend's dad was a police officer, the very one that saw Constantine knock the other boy out nearly and was very upset about said action. Let's just say Constantine was lucky his older brother was up in the dead of night, having Sylvester come in and save him from jail was one of the luckier things to happen in his life. The brute was very happy after that gut punch, in a way it showed that might have been the only price he had to pay after that incident.

It took little convincing for his father to send his son off to the camp, but in the process of enrolling him, he had Constantine under lockdown, only leaving his room temporary room in the living room to go to the bathroom. Constantine had never really tried to sneak out of a house as much as he did when his father was watching over him keeping him from doing anything but sitting still. Being the disobedient little monster he is, Constantine eventually snuck out with the help of his sister. Having one last night of freedom, Constantine did the one thing he is good for, getting into trouble. Constantine ended up in a group tussle of sorts, his friend starting the whole ordeal due to some godforsaken reason involving his younger sister or what not. Constantine only jumped in because he figured he didn't have much to lose. He was in some ways, wrong.

Now the brute sits on a smelly bus, his nose scrunching up in distaste to the wretched smell the bus carried with it from possibly years of use. His narrowed dark brown eyes stood out slightly as he glared out the window with rather scornful eyes, a noticeable blackish purple bruise circling around his left eye socket. Constantine was minding his own business, ignoring just about all of the meaningless chatter with a pair of earbuds that blasted a multitude of songs, from rock to classical, down to rap and country, he was just listening to whatever made him think of something other than when Sylvester socked him in the eye the night before. Constantine wasn't exactly sulking but it looked like he wasn't very happy, similar to the other occupants within the confines of the bus. He took up one seat on his own, his long legs sprawled out in a jumbled mess on the remainder of the seat, from time to time he would switch it up with either crossing his legs or just pulling them closer to his body. His head was laying back against the window, rattling his skull slightly as they went over bumps occasionally. He used to do that on his old school bus, making a game out of it. The whole point was to keep his head still and not get flung out of the seat, and since that was the only thing he found entertaining with the lack of hearing anything other than the blaring music from the earbuds connected to his phone, he thought he was keeping his time occupied productively in a way.

Jinx didn’t love the idea of going to this camp, but once she thought long and hard about it, no body entering the place wanted to. She believed most of whom was going to be there were delinquents and insane children she would probably have to head away from, but she would give people a chance. Well, she would try at the very least. She wasn’t one for new people, though she would always be able to adapt to new situations given to her, no matter how much she may like or even dislike them. She let herself be pulled back to the radio almost blasting in her ears, turning to her brother. He was happily singing along, a small smile on his face, almost as if he wasn’t being forced to drop her off at this stupid little camp. He had offered to take her up her, happily glad to take his offer. She wasn’t too keen on flying alone or even traveling as far as she had to. Living Kentucky sorta did that really. Plus, she never really traveled alone before. Of course, Jonathan had his own reasons to take her, his exact words being, and she quoted “I don’t need you somehow ending up in a fight or spacing out so badly you, for some odd reason, you would be missing your one and only stop”.

She shook her head a little and laughed softly, pulling her focus away from her goofy sibling to allow her eyes to take a good look around. The forest setting was definitely creepy and a little unsettling, her stomach twisting in the unease she knew would be present “Aww, why the long face?” He mused, giving off a little smirk. She rolled her eyes and chuckled weakly, turning back out the window. He huffed quietly, turning back to the road “Look.. I know you hate this as much as I do.. but dad wanted you he-“ “For what reason? Am I a delinquent? The most I am is a depressed train wreck, who may have gotten like three total piercings or stretched ears and I’m getting throw in with the insane kids who can’t somtach their food?!” She said gruffly, any bit of cheer almost draining from her. The answer hadn’t come out right, her filter being ripped away from her at that moment. Now was not the time to put away her true thoughts. Her anxiety was starting to beat down on her, taking a moment to control her breathing, her fingers tapping together at her left hand. “Sunny.. Please.. I don’t like this anymore and you do. We both know dad just needs a break.. and you should allow this for him.. for yourself. Meet some knew people, kick their asses in volleyball.” He tried for a small smile, her hazel gaze not even meeting his “It’s hard, don’t forget, I won’t have you to delight me all of these next few months.. Remember you can always call.. or text.. whatever they want you to do.. hell, find you a pigeon and write to me!” He grinned brightly, a small smile able to crack across her lips “There she is~” He smiled and patted her hand, allowing her tapping to finally stop. She sucked in a deep breath, a little sharper than she had meant to, clutching on tightly to her fully charged cellphone.

He parked the car in front of the eery entrance, the color almost instantly draining from her face as he turned to her “J-Jonny..” She tried weakly, gulping heavily. As strong and mature of a woman she usually was, her character would break every now and then, allowing her inner childish self to show. He sighed quietly, unbuckling himself “C’mon.. I don’t need our goodbye to be any more stressful than it already is..” He turned to open his door, a silenced gulp sliding down her throat. She coughed weakly as she slid out the car, her decently long legs sliding out of the parked vehicle with practiced ease. Maybe she dressed up a little, she didn’t care, she just wanted to look half decent in front of the strangers. She pushed back a stray hair behind her ear, pulling her backpack over her shoulder as he pulled her duffle from the trunk “Here.. You’ll need this more than I will..” He gave his soft smile, tears pooling at her eyes “Dammit..” She mumbled, pressing her hand to her eyes before she ran up and hugged him “I-I promise to try and call you every night.. maybe text so I don’t irritate my cabin mates..” She smiled sadly, Jonathan chuckling quietly “I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine here. Try and survive past the food and don’t forget to drive a ball into some assholes teeth” He grinned brightly, a small snicker coming from her “Be careful, or the asshole with some teeth missing might be you..” She punched his shoulder and retrieved her duffle from him. She sighed heavily as she stepped aside, looking at him once more before he gave a small wave and got back into the car. Her eyes followed his vehicle as he drove off, a pained sigh escaping her “To hell it is..” She mumbled, fiddling with her gage

chancellor went completely red. "Quit messing wuh-with me!" He cursed. He hated stuttering, especially in front of her, “I know what you’re doing, goddamnit!” He was clearly trying to look mad and failing miserably. He puffed out his cheeks. Now he really looked like a toddler, “You do this every time!” He whined, his usually smooth And velvety voice gone. He blew cigarette smoke in her face before inhaling some of his own. The delinquent stuck a hand in his pocket, allowing smoke to blow out his nose, “Its almost as if you enjoy torturing me.” He pouted. The boy called Carnage thought back to his previous times in this camp. When he first got here, he was a manipulative, violent animal. He had given the majority of the staff a piece of his mind over the years. But then, she came. He always joked she was like an angel, swooping down from above to save him. Sure, she didn’t exactly help with his behaviour but she helped with his mental state better than the camp itself ever did. A few years ago, you could instantly tell Chancellor was on the sociopathic spectrum, now, he was just a rowdy, thug. But there are some things, even Aaliyah couldn’t fix.

Chancellor growled, softly, “God you wind me up.”

Liam would have strongly preferred to strike off into the wilderness. All around him now were the things he had most missed about his small hometown in Pennsylvania. Moving to Atlanta might have been exactly the push off of the ledge of uncertainty that he had needed in order to come completely out of his shell, but... He still desperately missed the mountains, the endless trees of Canonsburg. This place reminded him so much of home, and it was all consuming and bittersweet.

He shook off the feeling with a fake smile and reasoned with himself that he may as well go through registration and get that over with. He was especially talented in bullshitting his way through first impressions with adults in leadership positions, but despite his immense effort the staff that met briefly with him hardly offered the same level of enthusiasm and least of all with any conviction.

The one thing he did wrong, though at the time he took pride in doing so because it showed just how truly independent he was, had been refusing to accept the folded map of the camp that one of the staff members had offered him. She had assured him that it was easy to navigate but a map still might be helpful. Liam refused to believe he needed the assistance of maps or instructions. One truly ingrained masculine trait of his was his not-so-charming arrogance and unreasonable stubbornness.

As soon as he was out of registration he realized, he had no idea where the cabin was. She had told him which cabin, and if he had been listening perhaps she might have also told him where. Or maybe, he could have just taken the damn map. It was too late now, no going back and asking for it. That would be even more painful to his pride than how apparently lost he was.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m only making conversation with a dear friend of mine.” Aaliyah’s smile only widen as Chancellor gave her the reaction she was looking for, well except for the smoke being blown in her face. The smile on her face disappeared and in its place a scowl. “Jerk, I don’t plan on dying from secondhand smoke so knock it off.” Aaliyah waved a hand in front of her face to fan away the smoke. She then pushed Chancellor lightly to show her displeasure. “It’s not my fault you make it so fun and easy at that. Plus...it’s not torture if you enjoy it Chaney.” The young woman’s smile was back once again, this time it was more flirtatious as she wiggled her eyebrows. It was no secret that Aaliyah enjoyed flirting. If she found someone attractive she wouldn’t be shy about it. In fact, she’d probably tell said person bluntly and too their face. “Well apparently I don’t wind you up enough. You keep coming back to me each summer. I completely understand though, I’m irresistible.” She joked. Aaliyah took a moment to adjust her bandanna. “So, are you ready to stir some shit up this summer? I’m looking forward to seeing what type of menaces are attending this time around.”

Chancellor punched her shoulder, playfully, “So what if I do enjoy it, toots?” His voice was smooth, his slight Russian accent promenent now. Chancellor towered over her, smirking, “Do you know why I enjoy it?” He flashed her a mischievous grin, leaning into her face,

“Because when smile, your huge nose spreads out across your face.”
The boy blew smoke directly in her face. He laughed hysterically, “If you die, I’ll get the insurance money don’t you worry.”

He crushed the cigarette in his hand, the sting waking him up, making him more attentive, “Well of course I fuckin’ am.” He turned around, hands in his pockets, “Speaking of which.” The boy named Carnage honed in on Liam, who looked extremely lost, “Its a little birdy I’ll have to take under my wing.” He looked over his shoulder, “Go easy on ‘im, will ya Ali?”

He sauntered towards Liam, pulling out a new cigarette and lighting it in the process. He reached the lost young boy and put an arm around him, “Welcome to Hell, mate. What’s your name?”

After a few moments of total panic, upon the realization that Liam might have to actually ask for help, help came all on its own. Or perhaps not help, but something did happen to him.

He initially tensed up at the physical contact, something he was far too unfamiliar with having always been a very personal-space oriented kind of guy. The most welcoming thing about this kid was the fact he had a cigarette, one such thing Liam had not had since he'd struck out on his journey here and he was really beginning to notice.

"I'm uh," Liam chuckled, thinking the situation rather random and comical, "I'm Liam. Who are you...? Also, if I may ask... Where the hell am I right now? I might've refused a map and not listened to instructions very well."

Hell the other boy had said. Now that did raise some questions. Questions, though, that were for a later date when a stranger didn't have their arm around him and he was a little less lost.

Jinx grumbled unhappily under her breath, hauling her duffle over her shoulder as she slowly crept further into the gates. She heard some distant voices, but they weren’t loud enough for her to make any words, only really hearing distant hums of a few voices. Maybe she should meet new people, maybe she wanted to incase any of them were her possible cabin mates. She sighed weakly and gave a small chuckle, doing her best to amuse herself as she started wandering over to registration. She kept a small smile on her face as she met the few people running it, giving them weak greetings. Which were only returned with half enthused smiles with a deadness to their eyes she related too easily to. As she was offered and easily suggested a map, she happily took it, thanking everyone before she stepped away. “So.. Cabin a, huh?” She muttered under her breath, flipping open the map and scanning through it. She let her finger glide across the smooth texture of the map before the tip of it landed at the given cabin “Bingo..” She smiled softly, folding it back up and sticking it into her back pocket.

She ran a hand through her bright hair before finally moving forward, using her free hand to fiddle with the tie at the bottom of her shirt. Maybe she should have dressed down a little more, maybe she should have worn a beanie because her hair was getting a little frizzy and a bit on her nerves. She pushed the conscious thoughts away and let them nag at the back of her mind, coming up to a group of what it seemed to be three people, all whom she guessed were close to her age. It only made sense. One was a black girl, who she thought was actually extremely pretty, a boy who had a cigarette dancing around in his mouth, and another boy who seemed to be trapped beneath the smokers arm. Now, the biggest question for her to now answer for herself was if she was going avoid them at all costs or actually do her best to walk over and be her awkwardly charming self and say “Hey”

“Great, people, yaaaay” She mumbled, shaking her head as she made up her mine, cautiously walking over. She gave a nervous little two finger salute, a common greeting from her as she reached up to push back the right side of her hair behind her ear as she stood a few feet away from the trio. Nervous ticks is what her brother called them, constantly fiddling her her stretched ears or even her hair, both unconscious really “So uh.. Hi, everyone..” She spoke with an obvious uncertainty she wished she could hide away. Her green hues scanned across everyone’s faces, unsure who to exactly focus on at this point. She was horribly awkward with new people, but she wouldn’t let that stop her “Sorry to pop in randomly on you all but I’ve realized walking in the woods alone is sort of creepy and I guess it would be good to meet some of everyone who’s going to be trapped here with me..” She gave a friendly smile, gripping her bag tightly. Her eyes wandered back over to the boy trapped in a singular arm hold, raising a slight brow as she started to wonder why exactly smoker boy had him in an arm. Possibly, they were friends, and we’re giving old greetings, or just a stranger being friendly..? Who the hell knew anymore..

Aaliyah rolled her eyes when Chancellor playfully punched her. She stared him down as he towered over her, by no means intimidated or nervous. “Yeah I’m dying to know.” She replied sarcastically. Again her nose was assaulted by cigarette smoke. She waved a hand in front of her face. Aaliyah paused for a moment, realizing that she’d just been insulted. She had always been a little vain so his insult wasn’t brushed off as easily as most of his were. “Asshole.” She all but hissed. Aaliyah would deny any indication that she was pouting. “If I die, you won’t get a cent from me.”

Her attention was then focused on a poor newbie who Chancellor had his eye on. Aaliyah’s signature smirk fell into placed as she sashayed over. “I’m always easy on first timers.” She winked at the newbie before giving him a once over. “It’s nice to meet you Liam. That is Chaney Darling and I’m Aaliyah. Unfortunately we’re in purgatory with no way out.” Aaliyah placed a hand on her hip. She’d used her little nickname for Chancellor to get back at him for his comment about her nose.

From the corner of her eye she could make out someone coming towards them. Aaliyah turned her head to look at the person, her eyes immediately focusing on the lavender hair. The young woman offered her a lazy greeting by waving her fingers at her. Aaliyah could tell that she was nervous from her face and the way she was acting. “Newbies are so cute. Don’t be so nervous love, I don’t bite. Well not unless you want me to.” Aaliyah smiled at her mischievously. “I’m Aaliyah, it’d be nice to know who I’ll be possibly sharing a cabin with.”

Chancellor laughed, “We got another rogue ‘ere. Always good.” He removed his arm from his shoulders, “Don’t worry mate, you’re not the only one.” He winked, “I’m physically incapable of following orders.” He ran a hand through his dark hair. The boy called Carnage regarded Liam with a stare, “Mmmm... yeah I like you. Stick with me mate and the world of setting random shit on fire and rackin’ up the criminal record will open up to you.”

Chancellor threw a glare a Aaliyah, “My names Chancellor,” He threw a grin at Liam, “Call me Carnage, everyone does.”

As the girl approached, Chancellor’s eyes lit up. He bounded over to her. Chancellor had a habit of being very comical and melodramatic, it threw people off guard, made them underestimate him. He liked that. He took is cigarette into two fingers and gave her his trademark grin, “Well, hello there toots. Name’s Chancellor. What do they call you?”

Liam took in everything that was going on with some engaging interest. Humored somewhat by the initial shock of not one or two, but three new people immediately introducing themselves. It reminded him of being the new blood among his friends in Atlanta, when everyone seemed so inviting but Liam had no idea what was going on or how to be involved. Perhaps it was all part of whatever was wrong with him, but he was just bad at most social situations... He had to give himself some credit, he had become the leader of the pack in Atlanta, but it had taken years. This was new, all over again, and Liam hated starting over.

The one who introduced himself as Carnage and physically incapable of following orders already sounded like Liam's old crew. Because I need to set more random shit on fire. He thought to himself.

Both of the two girls were remarkably pretty, both of them something like the girls who hung around music venues on the west side of Atlanta. The ones who dated front men of rock bands and racked up an extensive social media following in a matter of weeks. The ones that Liam wasn't really friends with, but sort of wished he was- or at least wished he was cool or interesting enough for those kinds of girls to be into him or at least his band. It didn't matter much that he wasn't straight, just the idea that he was in enough for the pretty girls to like him would have been nice.

These two gave off different vibes though, the girls back home seemed cool and collected. The one girl who had followed Carnage gave off a sort of alluring apprehension, like hanging around her might end you up in some trouble that was too fun not to want to be in. The other girl who approached them now had a clear nervous energy, but still something about her was distinctly charming and Liam wanted to reach out to start a conversation.

All too much was happening at once, so Liam stayed completely quiet while he observed these other kids.

Could end up some trouble. He thought to himself. Which would be the most interesting option this summer.

Jinx gave a bright smile at her comment, chuckling ever so quietly”I think I’ll have to remember that offer then~” She teased her a little, happily taking the girls acceptance of her. A newbie..? She didn’t wish to live by that name, not if she could help it “Aaliyah.. Ohh that’s really pretty.. I’m Jinx!” She got a good look at her face, promising herself to remember her name. She liked her anyways, she had such a wonderfully bright spirit.

She couldn’t help but turn to smoker boy, who was now Carnage. ‘Now he looks a bit of a trouble maker.. How often do you take chances man..?’ She questioned quietly in her head, her eyes lightening up a moment “Well it’s definitely not toot..” She smiled softly “I’m Jinx..” She gave him a sheepish smile, her eyes floated over to the other boy, who seemed to be playing mute right now. She was gaining more and more confidence around these people by the second. So maybe they were all hooligans, everyone’s here for a reason, and they were so much fun to be around already “Chancellor..” She started quietly, looking back to him with a curious little look “Would it be odd if I called you Chance..?” She gave a bright little grin, rocking back and forth on her heels. She was starting to grow a little impatient standing there, plus, her shoulder was starting to ache.

Chancellor stared at her, mind going blank, ‘did not expect that.’ He shook his head and grinned again, “Sure why not,” He gave a little gasp, “Chance, Jinx. We are going to be friends.” He spat in Aaliyah’s direction, “Not that it really matters, everyone calls me anything they want.” He twirled around, “Damn I haven’t gotten to my cabin yet.” He pulled a crinkled peice of paper out of his back pocket. It was burnt and had suspicious red stains on it. “Hmm lets see,” His head whipped up and he dropped to the ground. He stuck a finger in the cold dirt and licked it. He was like some batshit crazy dectective, “hmmm.” He looked up, got to his knees and pointed, “That way.”

It was a running joke between returning campers about the orientation courses camp leaders made the campers endure. One year, they had a teacher who had to teach them tracking. He was a little too enthusiastic, falling to the ground every five minutes and eating tree bark. He didn’t last long. Chancellor had found this extremely funny and made an effort to copy him every chance he got, much to the confusion of new campers. He turned to Liam, jumping to his feet, “Hey are we in the same cabin?” He raised an eyebrow, “If we are, I have a specific bed. You’ll know which one it is.”

“I’ll hold you to that love. This place is damn boring, I’m always looking for a bit of fun to brighten up my day.” Aaliyah grinned at her. Honestly she was adorable and Aaliyah loved adorable things and people, they were fun to mess with. Her grin turned into a genuine smile when Jinx complimented her name. “Aw, Thank you! Jinx is a pretty badass name.” Aaliyah turned her attention to Liam. She watched him for a moment as he seemed to observe the three of them. “You’re awfully quiet, I hope we’re not overwhelming you or rather that asshole isn’t overwhelming you.” She pointed to Chancellor. “As you can see, he’s a bit much. Always with the dramatics that one.” She chuckled.

“I’m sure that Jinx here would rather be my friend, isn’t that right?” Aaliyah looked to Jinx. She stepped closer and linked arms with the new girl. “Which cabin are you staying in? I’ll take you there if it’s Cabin A, which just happens to be my lair.” Aaliyah made a point to ignore Chancellor, she was still not over the comment about her nose. “And then later I could show you around, maybe hit the lake and go for a swim instead of whatever bullshit meet and greet the camp has planned.”

Jinx grinned brightly, glad that he could take her nickname. It just seemed to fit him decently well, and she wasn’t too bad and giving people nicknames. “Friends? Hmm.. I’ll have to take a rain check on that..” She joked, sticking her tongue out a little at him. She turned back to Aaliyah, smiling softly “Hold me to it then, I’ll always be available for a little bit of fun~“ She chuckled quietly, planting her feet down. Her anxious aura was slowly slipping away for finally reveal her true little self. ‘I’m not sure why I worried so much, I’m actually decently liking people for once’ She thought, smiling ever so gently “Oh, it’s no problem. Badass? Hell, I’ll take that..” She stretched out a little as Liayh turned away, yawning against her fist.

Her mind wandered a moment, the idea of being around this group of people all summer. It was actually a wonderful idea for her to wonder about, but she was pulled away from it as she felt an arm link around hers “I would probably favor that more..” She grinned, looking down at her shoes for a moment before looking back up to her “Oh! I’m in cabin A, yeah.. Lair? Goodness, I guess this is going to be fun..” She chuckled quietly, using her free hand to adjust her backpacks strap at her shoulder “I would love a little tour.. I have a feeling I’m going to be lost multiple times around here.. Everything looks the exact fucking same..” She glanced around a moment at the trees, most towering and full of leaves “swimming does sound fun though.. Now the question would be is if we’re taken more than just the two of us? There is after all more people coming..” She almost dreaded the thought of it, shoving that away

Liam exhibited his true laughter at Carnage's ridiculous actions, and at Aaliyah's suggestion that maybe he was overwhelmed. Pushing the thought to the side as it came, I don't normally laugh like this. Liam reminded himself he was deliriously tired anyway and at this point almost everything was funny for some reason. It had nothing to do with the fact he might have actually enjoyed himself for a second at this camp he didn't want to come to in the first place.

"No, I'm not overwhelmed." Liam wasn't shy, he didn't want to come across as shy. The tiredness, the overwhelming urge to smoke (his cigarettes were somewhere deep in the confines of his backpack where he'd packed them in jeans pockets and wrapped up in other clothes so his mother wouldn't see them while folding his clothes and putting them in the backpacks he'd taken with him), and the general curiosity and adrenaline of being in a new place was all getting to him now.

Liam had to think for a brief second to remember, and then responded to strange, strange Carnage, "We're in the same cabin if you're in cabin B?" He wouldn't admit it, but he sort of hoped for that to be the case. He already liked the energy this kid put off and had reason to believe they would get alone just fine.
