Johnny was only twelve years old when he saw his parents get devoured by ravenous zombies. He didn't want to believe it, and when the zombies left his parents' carcasses, he almost didn't leave. He crouched over their bodies, crying, until his survival instinct kicked in, and he realized that the zombies would be back soon.
Since then, he traveled the country, looking for food, and other supplies he would need to survive. he learned, through trial and error, how to patch up most wounds, how to scavenge broken down cars for their batteries, etc., and he learned how to avoid people, both living and dead
Eventually, he found himself in California, specifically, San Francisco. Unbeknownst to him, his life was about to take a drastic turn. Whether it was for the better or the worse... well, that would take some time to figure out.
Johnny carefully maneuvered through the massive pile of broken-down cars on the highway entering San Francisco. He had recently run out of food... again; he didn't know what he was going to do, it seemed that whenever he found food, he needed more less than a week later. Even that huge cache of green beans he had found at a Vons had only lasted a couple of days. He saw a grocery store a past the highway, and started on his way there.
