It has been a full month since the epidemic started. All communication was cut down and occasionally we can see military aircraft fly the sky. No one knows exactly where all of this started or how it works. All we know is that we have little chance to survive this new world where the dead rule.

--------

Noah was walking in the streets of the very small city they just stepped in. Their car just broke down in the highway in the early morning and they had no choice but to walk. Even Noah couldn't fix it since it was pretty much a piece missing from the engine. Skylar had the handgun ready to shoot at anything presenting itself. Noah on the other hand had his machete in his right hand and his other hand near his desert eagle to pull it out at any moment. Both were very cautious since these soulless corpse seemed more active during the day and the sun was high and up.

Slowly whipping one window and looking inside, Skylar looked at her brother, ''Psst Noah. I think the mechanic shop is empty.'' she said in a hushed voice. Noah surveyed the area to make sure no undead was in sight and slowly walked backwards towards his sister to check. '' You know the drill. I go in, you watch my back and I watch yours, k?'' he said waiting for her responds. Skylar nodded confidently looking at her brother do what he is best at . Noah slowly looked at the chains that were locking the glass doors together, he took out a bolt cutter from his bag and cut the chain clean. He slowly opened the door walking in carefully.

Hunter's 6 wheeled army truck was rolling down the freeway, alerting anything within a radius of its position. The diesel engine was loud, but then again, so was Hunter's method to deal with the walkers. He wasn't too far out from a town, but he knew anyone there would hear him with such a silent world now. No sounds were made beside survivors, walkers, and the occasional jet that seemed to only survey the death, almost as if a vulture waiting to pick the scraps from humanity.

He wasn't pleased how he was going, alone and ultimately low on everything besides ammo. The army base was wonderful, ammo and weapons, but it was only a docking point for the marines. This meant they had an abundance in ammo and guns, but low on non-perishable food. Now he needed to get some, including some clean water, and continue to search.

Rylee banged her fists against the wheel of her jeep in frustration. Again? Are you fucking serious!? An annoyed groan left her lips as she tried to start the automobile up and it just sat there, dead like everything else on this planet. It started halfway through her trip ever since she embarked, her jeep started giving her problems. She knew she should have gotten something more reliable. Grabbing her gun, trench knife, and rucksack of supplies, she hopped out of her jeep.

"Well, faithful friend, you gave a nice ride and all, but it's now where we must part. Thank you for everything," she said sarcastically as she kicked the jeep with the bottom of her boot before she started walking into the small city the jeep had conveniently stopped in front of. "Well, I'm sure no one would mind if I took one of their whips."

Gripping the trench knife in one hand and her gun in the other, she walked in the middle of the street, stepping over the debris and remains of reanimated corpses that already had bullets lodged into their skulls, ready to take anything on. Perhaps she would get lucky and find a car with the keys still in the ignition. She didn't plan to stay here long.

It has been a month since the world has gone to waste. Everything was fine and happy, until those ...things came. Mindless corpses who walked during the day, and rested during the night. People use to call them many names nowadays: walkers, biters...zombies. They are only one thing, mindless predators that crave for meat. In a world like this....who could live happily?

Rrraaarghh! A sudden load moan could be heard as a zombie tripped, lunging over to reach Steven. It was quite an ugly one, teeth rotten, flesh hanging from his hands, and a disembodied eye still hanging from an empty eye socket. Sighing to himself, Steven pulled out his pistol and aimed it for the creature's head. If it is one thing he learned for certain, during this outbreak, it was that you shouldn't get bit. Get bit, and you die. Die, and you become one of them. Pressing the trigger, Steven smirked seeing the hole, the bullet made into the walker's head. Smiling to himself, he continued his way towards the gym, his current base of operations....

"But I don't understand why we can't just-" a young boy asked before his older sister cut him off. He couldn't have been more than 12 years old, 5ft tall with dark brown hair, blue eyes and wide shoulders. He'd been a swimmer before the outbreak, but not anymore. He hadn't seen a large enough body of water in well over a month. His parents had died in the outbreak last month while he'd been at swim practice and when he'd finally made it home he'd found nothing more than blood smears and broken glass. He'd called his sister immediately and she's rushed home to get him.

"Bellamy, not now," his sister whispered as she pushed her dark rimmed glasses up her nose. She'd been trying to get her little brother somewhere safe since the outbreak but it didn't take long for her to realize that nowhere was safe. The night she'd come home from college to find her little brother on his own, covered in blood and afraid, was by far the worst night of her life, and she'd vowed to keep him safe. The only problem was that it was proving to be a more difficult job than she'd hoped. "Look we'll eat when we find more settle in for the night. I understand that you're hungry but we can't keep eating because we feel like it, we need to save it for when we need it," she explained in a hushed voice as she scanned the surrounding area. They were currently in the gym of some random town, and so far it was empty and completely locked which suited them fine for now. At least until they moved on.

"If ya'll are quite done arguing about food, we need to finish searching the building and securing it," another female voice said in a smooth accent, rolling her r's and extending her a's, as she rolled her eyes at the siblings. "Cause I for one am tired of all this moving." Unlike the siblings who were both dark haired and fair skinned with blue eyes and a sweet nature, this girl was the opposite. She was bold, loud, bossy and pig headed. She knew all of these things, of course but it was just the way she was and she didn't really care what people thought of it. Her blonde hair was hanging down her neck from her ponytail as her brown eyes scanned the area, as she tried to ignore yet another argument that the Gryffin children were having. She'd never had a sibling, and by the looks of these two, nor did she want one.

Bellamy's sister nodded. She still didn't trust the girl who'd introduced herself as Clarissa, or Clary, but she knew it was safer for Bellamy if they were in a larger group. "Alright," she said, nodding. "We've just got two more rooms left to check, but I think one of them has an exit."

"Tessa?" Bellamy called, poking his head into one of the rooms. "Tessa I think I found a vending machine. And there's crisps!"

Bellamy's sister, Tessa, rolled her eyes. She couldn't really understand why they would have a vending machine full of crisps in a gym where people went to exercise and get healthier but it wasn't her place to judge. At least not at the moment. Poking her head into the final room with Clary, they noticed the door and got ready to scan the room.

Conner woke up in his littoe fortress, looked at the clock, and cursed at hiw late he got up. Looking outside, he sees a few loiterers and quickly offs them from his second story window. He needed some more supplies, again, and didn't want to get bitten on his front lawn. Getting dressed and grabing his M-16 and M1911, Conner gets on his bicycle and gets ready to go to town. The way he saw it, those things were atracted to noise, and bikes didn't make much noise. Once he made sure he had an extra clip for his pistol and another two for the M-16 with him, he set iff for town.

Skylar walked close to Noah, everything was clear. Noah ready to attack kicked one of the doors to show a disgusting looking office. A zombie was hanging from the ceiling, moaning in hunger as he probably saw his first two 'victims'. Noah winced, '' I'm never going to get use to their smell.'' he simply said cutting the ropes of the hanging zombie. Once it fell with it's decomposed legs. He slammed his army boot on the skull. ''Urk! Come on Noah! Who you think will end up washing those boots of yours!'' she said grossed out by the amount of blood. Noah chuckled and looked around. At first he just wanted to find the missing piece since it wasn't that complicated but he had a better idea seeing the cars that were in the garage. He grinned seeing all of the expensive cars. ''Ohhh, look at all of this. Let's forget your little broken toyota!'' he said looking through the window of a black dodge challenger with two red strips. Skylar simply rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. '' Yeah sure, but can we get moving. This place is creepily silent.'' she said feeling the goosebumps as a cold wind hit her. Noah nodded and clicked open the front door of the car and looked at the ignition. No keys. He straightened back up and looked at Skylar, ''Can you go check at the entrance, they usually have the keys of all the cars. Take the one for a Dodge Challenger.'' he said while opening the hood of the car to make sure the car is able to roll. Skylar hesitated, she hated going alone but she knew that Noah was simply giving all of those errands because he trusted her and he wanted her to trust herself. She nodded and pulled out her gun ready for anything. She slowly walked back towards the front reception of this very big garage. She winced passing in front of the office since the remains of the zombies were still there. She slowly walked towards the front bureau where they first walked in and opened one of the drawers were a few keys. It didn't' take time before she found it and she smiled taking it in her palm but it immediately faded as she heard the door crack as someone walked in.

Logan moved quietly down the street, his eyes scanning everything about him, looking for any sign of danger in his path. He held no weapon in his hands but his right hand did rest on the hilt of his bowie knife as he walked. He had spent about a week in this town and he knew it'd be time to move on soon so he was searching for a vehicle to take but all of them seemed low on fuel.

He looked up and his eyes happened to come across the sign for a car garage. He figured that would be the best place to find a working vehicle and so he headed for the door. Slowly opening the door he stepped inside but stopped suddenly as he saw that he was not alone. In the room was a girl. He quickly scanned her, there were no visible bite marks so she did not seem to infected but he was still on his guard. He drew his knife partially out of its sheathe and said in a quiet voice,

"Healthy or infected?"

Skylar immediately grabbed her gun and pointed at the man in front of her. He looked stronger then her and could easily do anything to her. She wouldn't permit it tho. '' Perfectly Healthy, present yourself'' she said sternly with no hesitation. She seemed fearless but she was practically dying inside. She was anxious at this point and hoped Noah was near her, but she had to be strong and couldn't lose face or else he could take advantage of this. She still had the keys in her palm and was holding the gun slightly in the wrong angle since she was still not use to it after a month. Noah was the one doing most of the work and barely left her anything to do except recently. She looked at his eyes for any sign of lie, fear or anything. If she felt threatened, she wouldn't hesitate to shoot if needed. That's what he always told her, to never hesitate and go with instinct.

Hunter finally reached the town, the diesel truck's engine roaring. He went off the road, heading into the forest to park the vehicle. Taking the keys from the ignition and placing them on his lanyard. With a SCAR-H in hand, M1911 in his holster, and the machete on his back he left the outskirts. Now he opened the back, taking out to duffle bags along with his army uniform. Changed and geared, he went out into the town, slowly coming upon the first outlying builds.

Logan released his knife and held his hands up slightly to show that he had no weapon and that he meant her no harm.

"If I were infected I would have attacked you already. As it is, the walkers have not managed to catch me. The name is Logan and I promise you, you have nothing to worry about, I mean you no harm."

His knife had slid back into its sheathe. He slowly lowered his hands but he kept his eye contact with her.

Skylar tried controlling her breath but it was getting a bit heavier. She couldn't lose face or he might think she is weak. She tightened her hands on the gun, almost making her fingers go white and she was shaking a bit. Tho, she felt her tense muscle loosen up a bit when he raised his arms and the way he looked at her. He had the same look as her father and was wearing the usual army uniform minus the jacket. She lowered her gun slowly sensing that he could be trusted. She looked at the ground first and back at him, '' My name is Skylar.'' she said cautiously with a small hint of nervosity as she placed the gun back in it's sheath. She had her hand on it tho and the other one held the keys.

"Captain Hudson, but you can call me Logan."

He said, allowing his eyes to leave hers and look about the room. He could tell that she was nervous with another survivor around so he decided to try to be as nice as he could.

"Are you alone or is there another survivor around here? If there is please warn them about me before they come in here guns blazing."

Skylar looked at the guy not leaving eye contact until she called out her brother, ''Noah, get over here.'' She said. She could hear her brother's footstep as he walked towards the reception. He finally appeared in front of them with a bit of grease on his cheek and hands. Noah eyed the man who seemed to be in the army by his demeanor and clothes. Noah also was in the military, he was wearing his dog tag but not the whole army clothes. He ended up changing outfit the first day since they were bloody and completely non washable. ''Who is he?'' he simply asked calmly. Skylar shifted her eyes briefly from Noah to Logan and back to him, '' Logan..He just happened to come here.'' she said unsure of how it was going to unfold. Noah crossed his arms and leaned his weight to his right side. He was checking the guy up, he seemed trustworthy for now and not dangerous despite his strong demeanor. Noah sighted and uncrossed his arms walking towards the guy, '' Named Noah, Noah Armstrong. Nice to meet you.'' he said leaning his hand towards Logan. He knew they had to be friendly for now. They didn't have much choice and Noah didn't feel like having blood in his hands just out of fear. Anyway, it's not like they were going to stick together. There was enough cars for them to easily part away.

"Army as well? What was your rank soldier?"

Logan asked, looking at Noah with a slightly raised eyebrow. He tried to hide his own officer demeanor to see how they guy would react to him as a regular soldier rather then an experienced officer. If he told this guy anything about his military life he would say Special Forces and that was it. Apocalypse or not he doubted he would say anything about the missions he embarked upon while the world was still sane.

He didn't like this one bit, roaming through an unknown town looking for gods know what. The zombies were scarce in the street, but Hunter was still creeping around, not wanting any to know of his presence. He passed by a garage, a gymnasium, and ended up at a grocery store. It was a small town, but the place was picked clean, besides the scarce can here and there. Hunter picked up as many as he could, filling his bag slightly. Sure enough though, on inspection of an old rack, it fell. This caused plenty of noise in the empty building, attracting a group of walkers. Not wanting to get bit this early in life, Hunter unloaded a couple of pistol rounds into the heads. The shots were not silenced, and from a .45, therefore causing an echo out into the street and ultimately down past the garage.

Noah raised an eyebrow and pulled out his hand. '' Corporal..Can we cut off the formality? Obviously, all form of military ranking is useless in this apocalypse or whatever you call it.'' Noah said a bit laid back. He wasn't very good with authority even back in the days. He always defied most of the higher ups. If it wasn't for their need for mechanics, he would of been long gone. Skylar looked at her brother almost wanting to face palm herself. Her father was in the military before she was even born and she knew how this worked. Now seeing her brother do this...she knew it wouldn't go all that well. She hoped otherwise. She nervously laughed and looked at Logan, ''Sorry for his rudeness..He was raised in the streets.'' she said glaring at Noah.

"It is alright, the enlisted types always hate us officers because we are more useful to Uncle Sam then they are. Jealously is definitely an ugly thing though." Logan replied looking at Noah. Then he turned his attention to Skylar just as the gunshot rang out from down the street. He looked about then muttered,

"A .45....what kind of idiot?"

Noah shrugged, he didn't care much as long as he didn't start ordering him around. When the gunshot was heard, Noah snickered ''Well that guy is going to end up dead.'' he said turning his back around back to what he was doing. He went to the Dodge Challenger, there was just an oil change and he had the right equipment right here. He knew Skylar followed him as he heard the footsteps. '' You know, you could of been gentler about it.'' she said her arm crossed. Noah finished screwing back the bolts and rolled out of under the car to see her. '' I didn't feel like dealing with all of this again. It was bothersome one month ago and still is.'' he said shrugging while standing back up. Skylar rolled her eyes, ''Anyway, here are the keys,'' she trailed off throwing the keys as he catched them, ''You won't ever change.'' she said giggling a bit as she looked at her brother. He simply smirked, ''Nope..never.'' and he started the car.

"You have no intention of going to help whoever is shooting? Idiot or not there is still someone who could use some help out there. I am going after them, if you are a decent human being then you ought to do the same."

Logan said, watching as he walked to the car.

Noah looked at the guy, '' I never said I wasn't going to help him, but I'm not going to jump there without a ride to insure my safety and Skylar's.'' he said with a lopsided smile. Skylar opened the back passenger door and looked at Logan, ''Are you coming in or staying here? There is someone to get to before he ends up dead.'' she said throwing her rucksack on the seat next to hers. She leaned on the door waiting for his response.

The gunshots stopped after four shots, with four walkers lying on the ground. Hunter wasn't worried about getting bit, for he had enough ammo to take out half the town, in retrospect it wasn't the best idea to shoot, but still. He walked out of the store, duffle bag in one hand and glock in the other. Calmly he began walking down the street, taking out another drifter that was starting to follow.

"Lets go"

Logan replied, pulling the bow of his shoulders and placing his shotgun in his lap, he sat in the seat offered. He held his bow in his hand while his shot gun laid on his lap. The only thing he had to be careful of was his quiver of arrows but he could manage that just fine. He closed the door as he got in and waited for them to go.

Noah walked towards the garage door. He looked through the window and no walkers were in view. With no hesitation, he pulled the chains to open the garage doors and jogged towards the Dodge Challenger. He sat on the drivers seat, his rucksack next to Skylar's and his gun and Machete on him. He closed his door and started driving in the streets. A few walkers took notice of them but they were faster than them obviously. There was no more gunshots to help them situate where the person was, maybe he was dead for all he knew. He finally passed near a grocery store and a man walking out of it.
