Name
Damian Seir O'Lyke [Oh-Leek]

Age

Twenty-One

Gender

Male

Appearance

Damian is of average height, standing at 6 feet tall exact [182 centimeters]. He is on the thinner side, weighing only 155 pounds [70 kilograms]. His skin, due to how little time he spends outside, is pasty white at best. His face matches his frame, thin and angled, his jawline defined and coming to a smaller point at his chin. His cheekbones aren't nearly as well defined, but
noticeable. Under his eyes are near-constant bags, showing how little sleep he gets. His eyes are a beautiful light blue, complimenting the rest of his relatively fair features. Damian's eyebrows are slightly cloudy, defined in the center before fading a short distance past that. His long, black, straight hair is almost always tied back in a bun. As far as clothing goes, he is typically seen in a well pressed white long-sleeved shirt with a tan hide vest overtop. His trousers vary between black, tan, and brown. His hands are always clad in black leather gloves and he always wears a pair of tall, dark boots. His casual wear consists of a loose robe; the same boots, trousers, undershirt, and gloves as before. Finally, he always has his silver necklace and pendant and/or a pair of silver amulets on. He says they belonged to a close relative of his.

Personality

Given the most interaction he has with other people is between the occasional trip to the market and a patron to the library, he is rather reclusive and somewhat awkward. He maintains a constant tired appearance, and acts like it, but he always has a smile on his face when greeting visitors to his library. However, his haste with leaving a conversation displays that he either hates company or is simply far busier than it seems. When there is not any other work he does his best to participate in the active conversation, but his lack of social skills stick out like a sore thumb. On top of this he is quite timid and anxious, his head always turning to every little noise around him. Otherwise, he has a strange air of mystery around him. Something feels off, but one can't put their finger on exactly what. Besides these things, he seems like he'd make a good friend, right?

Background
Not much of his younger years are known, not even to him. The only one that knew has been dead for some time. But, when he was around two years old he had been left at a library that sat on the edge of the Bunberry district of Bellus. The librarian, who was an older man at the time, believed Damian's parents were of the Willows and unable to raise the boy. The librarian, Varka, had recently lost his own son, so he was happy to raise the lad. Growing up, all Damian knew was the library as the two did not get out much. He had all he needed there. Between his "father", their home within the library, and the learning he could receive from the books, he saw no reason to go elsewhere. So, as he got older, he chose to remain instead of venturing out into the world like many other adolescents were. Damian had always been seen as Varka's cheery little sidekick, constantly keeping the mood up and making the library a pleasant place to be. Of course, nothing good can last forever.

For a week, the library's doors were sealed. It was Damian's eighteenth birthday, so there were more visitors than usual. They laid their best wishes and gifts at the doorstep until the building reopened. Patrons were shocked to see a disheartened, tired, and otherwise different Damian manning the front desk with no Varka in sight. He explained that his father had passed in his sleep one night and that he needed some time to recover from such a loss. The condolences and well-wishes he was given helped bring his mood up slightly over time, but he continued to appear as if he had gotten no sleep. Business began to dwindle as the atmosphere of the library grew heavier. This did not seem to phase Damian. In fact, he seemed delighted to less people. So, for the past three years, it has only been him. His spirit never improving, but also never getting worse. As if he was stuck in some limbo, unable to move on until he had some form of closure he can't obtain.

Weapon
Damian has never felt the need for a weapon, but there is a short-sword under his desk at the library

A tad barebones, but I intend to develop him further throughout the story

Looks good! You are accepted :)

a bit new to group roleplaying and character applications and the like, so i'd like to consult about the loose idea i have for a character before i take the time to make one, and whether it would fit or if you'd be alright with a character filling this role. i was thinking something like the first-born to a highly influential family, one that is historically sworn to advise the royal crown as a sort of "hand of the king" vibe. super young (if teenaged is too young, could be a bit older), already a bit of a basket case and their reputation precedes them; acts very unpredictably, cruel to the powerless, but very cunning, and has managed to get their family (title-holders) under their thumb in many affairs that will be significant in securing more power for themselves.

as you mentioned characters should be open to move locations, i'd have no problem with this character being whisked away by a strange circumstance, 'sequestered', or anything that works! let me know if you see this fitting the story, and if so, i'll make a proper application :)
