Hello,

My name is Erina Nakiri, the Director of Totsuki Culinary Academy in Tokyo, Japan. You have managed to survive your first year here at Totsuki and graduated onto the next year. For that, I congratulate you. Though those of you lucky enough to survive the first culling must now trek through the second. This year will be even harder than your first. Most of you will definitely get kicked out and quit this school. Be proud that you made it this far, but not arrogant. Your goal is to survive. Prove that you can make it to the final year and achieve the glory of being an Alumni of Totsuki. Once more, congratulations and do your best! You continue to be apart of Totsuki now! Do not let me or this Academy down.

Sincerely,

Erina Nakiri, Director of Totsuki Culinary Academy.

Totsuki Culinary Academy
March 31st, 2022
Opening Ceremony.

Spring had finally began to take affect in the Land of the Rising Sun. Cherry Blossoms began to litter the parks and streets of Japan. With spring also came the beginning. Life, school and even death all began in this season and one particular school was doing just this. The most prestigious school in Japan, nay the world, was beginning a new school year. It was also the hardest school in the whole world, with only about ten lucky people graduating at the end of their third year. It will be a rigorous and long journey for the first years, and many will face bitter endings while others taste glory and success.

Today, on March 31st, the opening ceremony for the first years was occurring. Here, the Director of Totsuki, Erina Nakiri was giving a speech to the thousand plus students that would begin life at the Academy. She went on about how difficult it would be and that only the best would survive into the second year. She attempted to encourage them, but most likely failed due to her stern attitude as well as tactlessness in this situation. She brought up the fact that many would fail and most likely weep at their destruction far too many times. Luckily for the first years, a shining light brought back their spirits! A man so cheerful, he could be everyone's best bro. He encouraged the depressed first years with a rousing speech that made them all a little too happy. This man, was the Second Seat of Totsuki. The Unstoppable Conqueror; Ciro.

While this spectacle was occurring, the second years were at a mandatory meeting. No one knew what it was about, and no one from the staff or Elite Ten would share the details with the second years. This was quite odd as it had never happened before, at least not in the last few years. The meeting was in a rather small auditorium that barely sat all the second years. It was an old room with creaky doors and floors. Dust gathered on every inch of the room as it had not been used in many years. It gave an extremely ominous feeling... as if a secret meeting wasn't already ominous enough. The Second years filled the small room up with chatter as they waited for the orchestrator of the meeting to appear. Their voices boomed off the old and decrepit walls until a thunderous thud could be heard. The door to the room was swung open and a bright flash of light entered through the opening. In walked the First Seat of Totsuki; Asuka Urai. She was flanked by the seventh and eighth seat. The three made their way to the center of the room and stood there silently.

"Hello, second years." Asuka finally spoke up and had an authoritative tone, "I have called you all here for a very special reason." She stood motionless as her eyes peered around the room. Many of the students looked away when her cold gaze reached them. They were struck with fear, very much like an abused dog being stared at by their master. After scanning the room and the people in it, Asuka spoke again, "This half of the room." She motioned to her right with a gloved hand, "Is expelled. You have two hours to pack your things and leave Totsuki." Asuka offered a small nod before briskly walking out the room. Many couldn't even comprehend what had occurred, and just stared off silently.

"Bye Bye, chumps." Lockly Smith said with a heavy British Accent. He waved at the second years with a sadistic grin. Lockly was the Seventh Seat at Totsuki and was known as The Victorian Prince. A small girl followed him but did not make a single sound as she did. Even her steps were silent. She was the Eighth Seat, Elizabeth Smith, Lockly's sister and The Victorian Princess. They were a deadly duo with opposite personalities. Lockly was a sadistic loudmouth that enjoyed causing drama whole Elizabeth was a meek and kind girl who would rather help others.

With the three now gone, the room erupted as many students yelled and cried. They knew this was no joke, as the Undefeated Empress never joked. She was dead serious about expelling half of the second years. No one knew her reasoning of course, but it would all be explained in due time. It was obvious that something sinister was being... cooked up at this school. It was up to a certain group of second years to figure out this plan and ascend to the next stage of Totsuki. This group of Chefs were members of the Polar Star Dorm and managed to survive the expulsion of half their grade, but how would they react to such an event and how would they even retaliate...

Martin De Meyer
(Very simple and brief introduction post, if by any chance there's something wrong/we weren't allowed to start posting just yet then I'll gladly edit/delete this post.)

"If the embodiment of menacing ever existed then it'd probably lose out to this room by a large margin."
Martin thought, struggling to hold back the urge of coughing of up a storm due to all the dust.

Unlike most of his peers Martin didn't have the luxury of carelessly chatting about his summer and other miscellaneous events, reason A being that he didn't even have anyone to talk with in the first place (Of course), but what really matters here is reason B: An uneasy feeling of impending doom was slowly crawling up his spine. This was Tōtsuki after all, an academy where even using the wrong perfume would be reason enough to get yourself expelled, but the students around him seemed to have forgotten this. Martin had already slipped back into the mindset that allowed him to survive through the first year: Calmly evaluate the situation. Always expect the worst case scenario. Never take things for granted.

Martin began looking around the room for hints as to why all the second years were instructed to come here. Could it simply be a welcoming or award ceremony? No, they would've chosen a better room to do so. Some sort of cooking test? Could be, however the lack of ingredients and cooking equipment made him doubt this theory. And then suddenly something clicked inside of Martin's head:
Small room.
Dirt.
Students.
Uniforms.
Oh no.
There's no way the Tōtsuki administration would be okay with their students being covered in filth. A chef whose hygiene is below par runs the risk of ruining both the plate and health of their costumers. A quick look at his dust covered uniform fueled Martin's suspicion. He knew what he had to do. Martin took a deep breath, coughed because he had just inhaled a large quantity of dust and then carefully began swiping off ever last bit of filth from his uniform with the help of a handkerchief. This process caught the eye of a few students around him who viewed this cleansing ritual with confused expressions, however Martin was too occupied to worry about them. By the time he had reached his shoes the door to this poor little room suddenly swung open, catching Martin's attention. The same sensation of impending doom suddenly ran through his spine as a female figure walked in.

"Asuka Urai..." Thought Martin, paying very little mind to her companions.

After a brief introduction the First Seat of Tōtsuki uttered words that made Martin quietly sigh.

"This half of the room. Is expelled. You have two hours to pack your things and leave Tōtsuki."

There they were, the actions that had made Martin fear each passing day he spent in Tōtsuki. Just like that half of the second years were gone. No reason was given. No second chances. Nothing. Poof. A moment of pity for the affected students was soon eclipsed by Martin's own survival instincts. Pity won't help them or himself out. He had to figure out the motives behind this event.
