The Founding Titan, the original and thus oldest of the Nine, can modify the memory of any Ymir human they choose. They can modify these memories, rewiring them as easily as Garrison engineers rewire machinery.
Those inside the Walls consider the Shiganshina District breach in 845 by the Colossus and Armoured Titan to be the first non-military contact between humans and titans in over a century. Discrepancies in history, however, suggest that this is not the case. Theorists of the ninth century discuss these discrepancies, anomalies in scrolls and other written logs of old, leading them to formulate the idea titans have been inside the Walls before... more than once. Titan scorch marks, traces of them here, there and everywhere... ruins, aftermaths of annihilations between the Wall's wilds that only appear possible by a titan's will.
Are these theories right and could the Founding Titan have modified the memories of the Wall's population to make them forget?
Anything is possible.
These are the forgotten memories of what happened fifty or so years before the Fall of Wall Maria.
