Chitchat Appetites and Food

Something
I don't always have an appetite. I go through phases where I'm never hungry, and then afterwards I'll have strong cravings for a bit until regular hunger settles, like ramen and milk together. Do you have any weird cravings like this? Or go a long time without having an appetite? What do you usually eat during these times, if you do?

I'm mostly asking because I'm bored. You can just jump in a put a weird food combo you like if you want.

I go through long periods (I'm talking weeks) where I have little to no appetite before it fades back into me having a healthy appetite again. I still eat the appropriate amount of calories, but I've rarely had cravings since I was a teenager. I'm not sure if this is a normal thing, but I've grown pretty used to it.

There was one time though, when I was seventeen, where I woke up in the middle of the night and really wanted pickles, peanut butter and ice cream. I honestly got out of bed and drove to an 24-hour Walmart so I could get those three things and ate them on the way home. It's not my proudest moment, but it wasn't as bad as you would expect.

Yeah, I often go long periods of time without an appetite, too. Although I know why it happens for me, it's still a bit interesting to see how others go about it.

Pickles, peanut butter, and icecream? That is a strange combination. I've had a craving for straight pickle juice before, but not those. Lol

Lol, I used to crave pickles and pickle juice all the time. It was one of my favorite foods as a kid and as a teenager. I might be wrong, but I've read that pickle juice has a lot of health benefits, so it's honestly not surprising that it's a pretty common craving for a bunch of people.

I've never read that, but it could very well be true. I used to freeze pickle juice as a kid and have pickle pops in the summer time, but there was a time when I didn't like pickles much so that ended.

Honestly, I'm ashamed to admit that I never heard of making pickle pops until now. My ten year old self would have been over the moon to eat those, lmao.

Oh, wow, I thought everyone knew about them. Have you heard of fried pickles? I haven't tried them yet, but I want to.

I tend to either binge-eat under stress, or, more likely, cease to eat at all. With recent stress it got bad enough that I lost 10% of my body weight, and I'm struggling to get it back since I rarely have had an appetite. The only things I've craved really badly since this started are from restaurants and fast food places, so I've felt too guilty to ask for them.

But! I've gained at least 5 pounds back! That's good...! Even though I think I lost it again at some point.... Ehe.

Sure, I've actually had one before. I was at the fair two summers ago and one of my friends bought it for me to try. It's pretty decent, although I'm not a huge fan of eating warm pickles.

Progress is good, even if it's just a little. I know I have to force myself to eat or else I start dropping weight quickly. You may want to try doing something similar if you're trying to keep a healthy weight. There's also nothing wrong with craving fast foods, there's usually a reason behind cravings.

I can't say I blame you for not wanting warm pickles, they do taste a bit weird.

I know, right? I have this weird thing where I tend to prefer my foods to be served a certain way. For example, I've never been able to enjoy hot coffee because I always drank iced coffee when I was younger. It's a little bit strange, but I just like the taste better.

Ah, yeah. I can't say I'm too picky with most foods when it comes to temperature. I like iced and warm coffee, and tea. However, I'll only like poptarts when they are frozen or hot, never straight from the packet. I also think the best type of pizza is mildly cold and from the night before (properly put up, of course).
