Apocalypse World / Dungeon World

I put the "Realistic" tag on here because Apocalypse World is a horrific reflection of the "modern" world. Not so with Dungeon World.


Anyway. Is there any interest out there for Apocalypse World or Dungeon World? I'd love to run either but I'm looking for players who have already purchased the game.

All right. I'll decide and grab...well, they're not forums anymore, are they? I guess I'll figure out what we need and how it works and then get it running.

Here's my idea:

They came. Out of nowhere. Unannounced. Unforgiving. We had thought we had achieved so much. We were wrong. They own the world now. We eek out lives in the filthy and dark pockets They've missed or forgotten.


The worst part? They're always calling. With some brain signal. The weak minded fold. They either snap and kill everyone around them or stumble into Their arms. And then They know where to find us. And slaughter us.


God forbid They show some damn mercy.


With so much hopelessness, who can blame us for our savagery? We'll all fall one. Might as well enjoy what little is left.

I'm intrigued!


Poking a little deeper, how predominant will They be? Like say, War of the Worlds where They are the biggest antagonist and our fellow people come into it once and awhile. Maybe more like Metro where there's very clear areas where They are a problem and we will inevitably run into them, but humanity has all sorts of problems that can be just as pressing. If not more so given its where we can live in (somewhat) safety.


Or a background sorta threat? Existing like a force of nature where when it comes, it's time to gtfo and pick up the pieces as best as you can?

As always, that's left open. I have determined nothing about it. I imagine Them being a bit more in the background, but when we actually play, you guys could decide that you want Them to be in the foreground and that'd be fine too.

In totally entirely unrelated news, has anyone heard about AW 2nd edition and/or watched the new Mad Max movie?

2nd edition is coming in the fall-ish time. There were a coulple deets:

We're designing a new battle system, changing some things about Hx, barter, and harm, changing the mix of playbooks, and reorganizing the book. None of the changes are all that big by themselves, but they add up to a new edition.
