Blackrock
So named after the dark cliffs that surround the province, Blackrock is the home to the Cainhurst family, one of the oldest families in Aether. Blackrock is part forest, part wide open tundra - though the forest is a dangerous place full of dark beasts.

Blackrock City
Sitting on the dark cliffs of west Aether and in the shadow of its namesakes castle, Blackrock is one of the larger towns in Aether and is famous for its dark atmosphere. Many mages have trained under the expertise of those who live in Blackrock, and thanks to its remote location and proximity Blackrock Fortress - it is one of the best protected communities in the country

Blackrock Fortress
The seat of the Cainhurst family, Blackrock Fortress is an ominous and ancient construction that has stood for thousands of years, enduring all hardships and never falling to any enemy. Believed to have been built long ago by an ancient tribe long lost to history, Blackrock is famous for its opulent interior and has a rather unseemly reputation for prisoners never returning from the Blackrock dungeons.

Dragon Keep

An ancient fortress situated in the mountains of Kolaghan's Fall, Dragon Keep is the main military base of House Cainhurst and is used not only as a training ground and academy, but a secure destination for scholars and academics who wish to research Kolaghan's remains.

Kolaghan's Fall

A mountain range north of Alcamoth, aptly names as the land where the great hero Meyneth slew the black dragon Kolaghan at the climax of the War of Cinders. Kolaghan's bones still rest upon the highest peak, and Cainhursts have complete control over the area - and the bones of Kolaghan are rumored to be used for various rituals and symbols within Blackrock.

Crowhaven

A tower of Dwarven origin, and a Cainhurst controlled watch tower that overlooks Hollowvale. Crowhaven is used by senior Cainhurst mages as a testing ground, and also functions as a checkpoint for those unlucky enough to be sent into Hollowvale.

Hollowvale Wastes
A wasteland that no-one, noble or otherwise has shown any desire to live on - Hollowvale was the site of a terrible battle during the War of Cinders it seems the land itself has been stained by evil. A popular location for ghost stories, most give Hollowvale a wide berth.

The lost city of Greenvale
Greenvale is the long abandoned cursed city that was once the home of the Cainhursts during the war of Cinders. Greenvale used be a bustling city widely known for its riches before Kolaghan the Black placed a terrible undead curse upon the land. Now known as Hollowvale, the black city is still visible from a distance and is filled with the shambling corpses of the undead. Lord Ulfric Cainhurst is eager to mount expeditions into Greenvale to recover lost Cainhurst treasures, and with the cessation of hostilities with Hinokah - he may be close to making his dream a reality.

Vinistead Village
A trading post to the north of Vakaris, Vinistead has long held a position of strategic value to the rest of Aether thanks to its surrounding fertile land. Much of the food for Blackrock and Vakaris is grown in the surrounded area of Vinistead. After efforts to reclaim the wetlands to the north failed, the population largely abandoned the area, leaving a handful of settlements working the land farming what they can and harvesting the rich peat for the surrounding cities. The farmers are paid handsomely by House Cainhurst for being willing to work and live so closely to the ominous Wetlands.

Eerie Village
A small and almost insignificant hub, Eerie Village has a reputation as an unfriendly place. despite that, it is frequented by travelers regularly as they make their way either to Alcamoth or Vinistead.

Alcamoth Field
The most densely populated area in Aether, the field is home to the Imperial Capital City Alcamoth as well as miles of fertile farm land, villages and rolling hills. To the north lies the famous mountain ranges of Kolaghan's Fall, the site of a terrible battle long ago - and the grave of the mighty dragon that fell there. Alcamoth Field is home to the Church of Light and the newly crowned Imperial Royal family.

Alcamoth
The capital city of Aether and the seat of power for both the Church of Light and Aether's royal family. Alcamoth's population is growing all the time and is home to the great library of Aether, the Chapel of Light along with a huge trading port and robust shopping district. Alcamoth is well known for its great white walls that have stood for a millennia, and the city has never fallen to any enemy. The Church of Light rules with an iron fist however, and there are harsh punishments for those who do not conform to the Church's rules - a price most happily pay to live in such safety.

Al-Anduin Beacon Tower
One of four of the remaining ancient beacons, these towers were once used to warn cities and towns of approaching enemy armies during the Dark Ages, Al-Anduin remains in regular use by Alacamoth forces and a small village lays nearby where travelers can rest before leaving the Capital.

Fort Virtue
This grand fort earned its name by being an extremely arduous trail ground, where many have fallen before. Occasionally used by the Hinokah military as a testing ground for new weaponry, those who pass the Fort’s trails have been said to gain great power and wealth later in life. The Hinokah have done their best to dispel these rumors, as the amount of deaths by inexperienced adventurers has become something of a black spot over the area.

Lake Anduin
A freshwater lake east of Alcamoth, Lake Anduin is rich with fish and is a peaceful area, making it a popular destination for travelers.

GreenfieldsThe aptly named province is well known for its fertile lands and lush green fields that stretch for miles around. Greenfields is a popular destination for farmers and workers who prefer not to work so close to the Wetlands.

Vakaris Town
An important and prosperous town, Vakaris attracts trade from all over Aether thanks to its convenient location in the centre of the continent. Filled with numerous shops for anything anyone might ever desire, Vakaris is rapidly growing - and rivals both Alcamoth and Cloudtop as a trade hub. Vakaris however, has a unseemly reputation for corruption and murder. It has remained neutral since the War of Cinders, rebuking attempts from both Hinokah and Cainhurst to control it. Vakaris lacks any sort of centralized government and is an exceptionally dangerous place to live for those without the wits to survive.

EnderachWild and untamed, where all sorts of creatures roam, Enderach was once home to many towns and villages that were destroyed during the Dark Ages. Many ruins still scatter the landscape, making Enderach a popular destination for adventurers. Many areas in the plains lead to underground ruins and forgotten temples that are still yet to be recovered by Alcamoth. The site of many terrible battles, Enderach can be a dangerous place for the unsuspecting traveler. Technically under the control of the Shieldhearts, they have shown little interest in attempting to actually tame the area.

South HillA slightly more civilized but still wild area situated next to Enderach, the South Hills are home to seat of Hinokah - Cloudtop.

Cloudtop
The seat of Hinokah and currently boasting the largest population in the empire, Cloudtop is well known for its unique architecture, huge shopping district and robust residential district. Cloudtop also has a reputation for a pleasant sea breeze and excellent food, and is also home to many Dwarves who have lived in the city since the fall of Magruhdul.

WetlandsA bleak and cold place comprised of forest and swamp, the Deludge Wetlands was once home to a large elvish civilization and a vibrant ecosystem. Avoided by all but the most brave or foolhardy adventurers who are attracted to the land by stories of ancient elvish treasure, the Wetlands is a dangerous area filled only with desolate tundra and disease carrying bugs of distressing size. Much of the wetlands remains a mystery, and hunters can be paid handsomely by the right patron for their discoveries within the swamps. As of yet, no one has managed to make much progress.

Ba-Deluga Lost Beacon Tower
One of four of the remaining ancient beacons, these towers were once used to warn cities and towns of approaching enemy armies during the Dark Ages. Ba-Deluga was abandoned long ago and has since been swallowed by the swamplands. No one has set foot in Ba-Deluga for centuries, at least to common knowledge.

Lake OdaniaA huge freshwater lake in the east of Aether. Not a natural lake, but crater caused by a magical explosion of incredible power long, long ago. The ancient capital city of Odania once stood there, and its destruction is still met with pangs of loss by many members of the populace. It is said that the ruins of Odania still sit at the bottom of the Lake, but so far all attempts to locate the ruins have met with failure. Lake Odania is still affected by the magical cataclysm from ancient times, and many strange occurrences have been noted to take place in the vicinity.

La-Vinima Beacon Tower
One of four of the remaining ancient beacons, these towers were once used to warn cities and towns of approaching enemy armies during the Dark Ages. Still in regular use by the Alcamoth military, La-Vinima has high strategic value as it has sights on the Merluminal Forest to the south, and the Throne of the Abyss to the East.

GularumThe last remaining bastion of Dwarven kind in Aether. Gularum is a grim place by all accounts, and the local populace is unfriendly and unwelcoming to most travelers who have nothing of value to offer. It is however, one of the few places in the world where true Dwarven crafts are available making it a popular destination for many warriors and traders despite the disposition of the Dwarves. Travellers who wander into the mountains may come across the battlements of a tower top, which serves as the base for merchants who wish to trade with the Dwarves - The true Gularum resides below the surface, and few are permitted within.

East Hedge
The most eastern part of the Empire, East Hedge is a dry tundra with little in the way of desirable features outside of its strategic value as the gateway to the Ashen Mountains.

Arcanlux
A small village town on the very edge of the Merluminal Forest, Arcanlux boasts a population of mostly Elves and Half-Elves. Originally set up as a trading post for those who would risk travelling into the Forest, Arcanlux has transformed into a distinctive city of its own right.

Throne of the Abyss
A lonely mountain sitting to the south of Lake Odania, the Throne of the Abyss is a twisted and evil place from which spawned the great darkness that nearly destroyed the world long ago. Strictly patrolled by the Church of Light, anyone who attempts to access the mountain is turned back - by force if necessary. The Church of Light writes that the Cult of Myrkul once used the mountain as their base of operations before the cataclysm.

Overtide Island
As the waters from the Cerulean Sea wash over the pearl-white sand of its beaches, rare materials are known to occasionally land upon the shore. Despite its riches and tropical atmosphere, Overtide Island is deserted due to two factors - Firstly, the fact many fiercely territorial Griffons use the island as their nesting grounds makes any kind of approach a risky proposition. Secondly, Overtide Island completely disappears once a month on the night of a full moon. To date, it is unknown why Overtide undergoes this process, but until the local Griffon population is either exterminated or relocated, long term research remains an impossibility.

Ashen Keep
TBA

Merluminal
The Merluminal Forest is a gigantic and ancient area that makes up much of the southern area of Aether. Home to the Lumen Elves, Merluminal is an enchanted wood which repels almost any who try to travel within. Adventurers and travelers report of becoming lost within hours of entering, regardless of their method of navigation and are forced to retreat to Arcanlux. A mysterious area, that is avoided by most. It cannot be penetrated on foot nor by sea.

Lumensiri
The capital city of the Lumen Elves, which exists deep within the Merluminal Forest. Lumensiri is the oldest city in Aether and has been cut off from the outside world for over seven centuries.

Va-Lumis Beacon Tower
One of four of the remaining ancient beacons, these towers were once used to warn cities and towns of approaching enemy armies during the Dark Ages. Va-Lumis has long since been lost to the outside world due to its location within the Merluminal Forest, but it is unknown if the Lumen Elves are making any use of the Tower.

The Ashen Mountains

Dul-Magnar Beacon Tower
One of four of the remaining ancient beacons, these towers were once used to warn cities and towns of approaching enemy armies during the Dark Ages. Long since abandoned by Alcamoth due to its remote position, Dul-Magnar changes ownership frequently - occasionally used by roaming bands of Barbarians or Orc scouts.

Magruhdul
Once the capital city of the Dwarves, now lost to the Orcs. For additional information, please check Dwarvish Lore.

Mipha's Rest
A fortress sitting on the very edge of the world, Mipha’s Rest was said to have been used by Mipha herself as a research laboratory in ancient times. Due to the location of the fort and the current political turmoil in the area its exact position is yet to be clarified. The Church of Light has been considering an expedition to recover the fort, but as yet the journey has been decided to be too perilous.

Forgotten Village

With a name lost to history, the Forgotten Village was abandoned by the Dwarves during the war with the Orcs. It is unknown if anyone still resides there, but occasionally lights can be seen from the distance.
