Realistic or Modern A Workplace Taboo (Stoney N' Dergy ;3)

Weakly and slowly opening her eyes, Vivian wasn’t even sure if she was alive, dreaming, or in some sort of afterlife for a while, the woman fading in and out of conciousness. Everything was hazy, blurry: her vision, her memories, her mind; the whole first few hours felt surreal. But as wakefulness came, so did a solid sense of ‘this is real’: there was a very real numbness throughout her entire body, and behind that, a very dull pain, especially along her back. As her vision came into very slight focus, she then understood that she was lying in a hospital bed. She couldn’t for the life of her remember what happened, only that she was driving and then… well, she crashed, apparently.

The only other thing she knew was, she was still half-awake and felt like death. For a long while, she laid there, staring unfocusedly up at the ceiling. More uncertain was what would happen now. Would Kiraan already have been informed? If so, how would she react? Would she be too busy to cme by for a while, or take the time to do so? Vivian realized in this moment that she didn’t really know the woman she’d been dating for around three months now and working for for longer, as especially in her current state, she couldn’ really come up with definitive answers. Kiraan always presented herself so neutrally that Vivian never really had a clue what she could be thinking, or if she was just indifferent to as many things as she seemed on the surface to be. There was definitely some real feeling for her there, Vivian could tell whenever they kissed, whenever they touched; but whether it was love or simply lust, she had no idea at all.

Then, there was her father. She was worried about him too.. both about the man himself, and the fact that Kiraan was likely going to drop by at some point (or at least, Vivian hoped she would) and he had a chance of finding out about the two of them. That very thought made her stomach churned: there was some very real attraction between her and Kiraan, there was no mistaking… but she was still ucertain as to whether following her heart and dating Kiraan was truly alright in god’s eyes, or if she’dreallly go to hell for it. The lack of tolerance many religious folks have for homosexuality had always baffled her, as one of the ten commandments was to treat everyone as equal, even though in the same book, it did say it was wrong for a woman to lie with another woman and the same for men. She knew god couldn’t make a mistake, but she couldn’t help but feel that he didn’t really feel the way many of his followers did about them. She just… didn’t know what to think, especially right now.

Vivian was also worried about her father himself: he’d likely have dropped everything just to come here and see her, which could possibly hurt his career. He was a very busy man, after all, and had a lot of duties to keep up with to run the church effectively. Many would think her insane for worrying about even those closest to her nearly first thing after waking in a hospital bed, but that was simply how selfless the young woman truly was. Still, these worries faded after a while as she became, with more wakefulness, more aware that she had never felt so awful in her life before. She wasn’t even sure she could move right now, and wasn’t going to risk trying.

Suddenly, the nurse came in. “Ah, you’re awake. You have a visitor, sweetie,” the woman said, causing Vivian to slowly try to sit up, but fail. “Try to just relax, dear… I’m sorry but it’ll be a while before you can move very much... your visitor will be here any minute now. Try to focus on that, hun. Your vital signs are stable and it’s possible you could recover fully.” Weakly nodding in understanding (though frankly she didn’t catch all that the nurse had said in her current state), Vivian found herself staring, eyes only half-open, towards the door, nearly falling asleep until the surprise of seeing the womanly figure that stepped through the door do just that ended up shocking a little more wakefulness into her. It couldn’t be her father, and while she couldn’t quite make out her face, she did look very familiar from here, attire and body-wise. “K-Kiraan?” She asked weakly, coughing unexpectedly afterwards.

Kiraan’s presence confused her in many ways, Firstly, from the morning light shiing through the window, this had to be a very busy time of her day. She’d have to be ignoring or rescheduling quite a few obligations to come here. Vivian didn’t think, girlfriend or no, that she’d ever be put before the company at a time like this. Beisdes, she still wasn’t sure… she certainly felt great affection towards Kiraan, and the woman lamost felt like her mother reincarnated at times; She was definitely glad she was here… but many questions remained, such as how Kiraan herself truly thought of this relationship. In the back of her mind, it even seemed possible that Kiraan was using her and truly didn’t love her, though when they had their most intimate moments, those thoughts seemed like silly paranoias. Vivian just… didn’t know, and thus ended up staring at Kiraan as she walked in with a great deal of confusion and uncertainty, though a bit of ‘happy to see her’ was certainly there among all those conflicting emotions.
