  • Height : 184 cm. 6 ‘ 0. Iseul is quite towering, with a thin form that only adds to his stature despite his habit of slouching. Eyes : Almond, canted elvishly. Intense stare. Earth and onyx, dark brown. Hair : Different tones of brown, wisps of blonde on the ends in certain places.     You could say that Iseul’s family really only consists of himself, his grandparents and his mother since his Father seemed to be more of an accessory to pose in photos for holiday cards than an actual… Father. Throughout his childhood the love exchanged between them consisted of a silent breakfast table and the sounds of him arriving after midnight. Truthfully Iseul didn’t feel particularly interested in getting to know his Father and this could’ve been because all of the love he needed, he’d been getting from his Mother and Grandmother. As a child he was undoubtedly biased to them and the contrast to that of his father⸺that in his opinion, woman gave⸺that they supplied. This left Iseul with a quality of gravitating towards women and a sort of “herculean” crisis of wanting to protect them and if no one needed protecting, a deflating sense of not being needed.

Better to avoid someone like Gingko than to be devoured by her. She’s kittenish in demeanor, a flirtatious stray cat pawing at your lap. Insincere and fickle, moving much like a tendril of smoke and easily influenced by her emotions or on a pathetic note, a waft of wind.

She wasn’t always like this. She’d been innocent once, an angel untainted by the offerings of a devil but she wasn’t now and she wasn’t sure what to do about it. She’d been wearing this mask of rebellion and hurt for so long she could scarcely remember the details of her what was underneath.

Has a lot of male friends ; Doesn’t entertain rumors about her ; A serial dater. Gingko dates often and always has a new “boyfriend” ( a title she actually stays away from, preferring to keep things casual and without a title ) and once she’s done, she’s done. Unfairly, you won’t hear from her again and she won’t give you the opportunity to argue with her either. She can be a bit cold in that way despite having once made you think the sun was just an extension of her. So warm and lovely and engaging, making you feel as though you’re the center of her world and then dropping you from her gravitational field, all at once. Then she’s cruel, unable to convey why she’s pulling away, cowardly enough to prefer making the other person disgusted with her as a means of avoiding having to communicate at all. ; Externally Gingko comes off as someone who isn’t easily bothered but she’s deeply emotional and sensitive ; Really just a soft, fragile thing wanting to be held close.

Gingko is the youngest of two older brothers, Kohi ( 24 ) and Chin-sun ( 28 ). Her Mother is undoubtedly biased to her sons and she ranks last in the affections of Mama Bae who is much harsher with Gingko, seemingly only appeased when she was forcing herself to fit the mold that had been set for her.

Her brothers have always been protective of her and despite one of them being an absolute whore, neither of them felt comfortable with Gingko being around boys. Funny that she ended up turning into the exact sort of woman they didn’t want her to be.

Her eldest brother, Chin-sun is a pediatric doctor and has a long time girlfriend that he’s nervous about proposing to. She’s very high maintenance, comes from a good family and is insanely argumentative. Still… They stay together and Gingko thinks he’s just trying to live up to what he thinks a doctor’s wife and life should look and be like. She’s convinced he’d be much happier with their long time neighbor, a girl he dated in middle school but broke up with to date a cuter, richer girl. They’ve all maintained a good relationship and the tension between them is undeniable.

She was the perfect child even if her Mother spent her time calling her otherwise. Gingko wanted to earn that same love she showed her brothers. She knew she could. Even just a sprinkle of validation would be enough to keep her going for another year and another year after that.

She had the love of her Father, which was enough. While Mama Bae favored her sons, she was favored by her Father. To him, she was everything and so when their marriage fell apart, Gingko’s life raft was ripped from her grasp. She wanted to live with her Father but couldn’t. Her relationship with her Mother became more and more turbulent, defined by toxicity and resentment.

And somehow between it all, she’d started to change. If her Mother was so sure she was as worthless and damned to be trouble as she acted, she’d become exactly that.

Like a vocal prophecy come true, Gingko contorted herself into a nightmare.

A golden boy whose smile is as contagious as any cold, Joon looks to be your typical energetic jock. No one would ever guess that under this shining knight’s armor a scared little boy hides, forever tucking away his feelings in favor of other people’s comfort. But Joon's been like this since he was a child, always taking care of his younger sister in stead of their absentee mother who was always at work. He never blamed anyone, his mom had to work all the time to keep a roof over their heads and the dad was certainly no help, considering he had been dead since Joon was 8. So he had learned how to bury his feelings from a young age.

Giving off an air of innocence and even a bit of naivety, Joon's aura is akin to that of a doe eyed puppy, which tends to come off as endearing to others. Yet he is quite aware of the effect he has on people, and is far from naïve. He simply prefers to hold up a permanent mask around his peers to keep from disappointing anyone, he’s played a part for so long that he’s forgotten who he even was before.

Captain of the track team, Joon can most often be found running, something he truly loves and perhaps the only genuine part of him left. Running is the only time Joon can escape inside his head, it’s the only time he’s ever able to drop the smile because really, who smiles when they’re running?

Beneath The Surface
Bullied from the moment she stepped into grade school, Soomin learned from a young age that the world is cruel but people are far worse. She had always been a bit on the bigger side as a kid, preferring to focus on her academics rather than physical exercise. However, both of these traits made her prime bait for bullying. It was mostly verbal, calling her names, or little things like throwing her bag into the toilets. Every once and a while it would get physical and she would end up beaten and bruised. She never told anyone of course, her family was dealing with enough with the loss of her father she didn’t want to add to their strife. So she kept it quiet, making excuses for her bruises, blaming it on being clumsy. But day after day it ate at her, chipping away at her self confidence until little remained, shattering her impression of people as a whole.

The funny thing about hitting rock bottom though, is the only direction left to go is up. Before she started attending high-school she joined her brother on his morning runs and grew a couple of inches which did wonders to even out her once chubby proportions. When she finally entered high-school her former bullies weren’t even there, her grades had been so high that she had gotten into a high-school they couldn’t follow her into. So she was finally free of the shadows that had followed her for the better part of her life.

Except she wasn’t.

The damage had already been done, her self confidence practically nonexistent, causing her to opt for baggier clothing. Her social skills were pretty lackluster as well so she didn’t even make an effort to make friends. Besides no one really approached her anyways, her eyes always seemed to be set in a glare and her tone of voice was always irritable. Much like a wounded animal she would bite anyone who got too close (figuratively). This attitude followed her even into university, and along with a it, volatile temper that erupted due to her shitshow of a sleep schedule. But what do you expect from a Biology major trying to get into doctor school? A top student no less.

Born on the better side of things Ae-ri can be considered a bit of a princess. With a lot less interest in others and an abundance of and for herself. She's seemingly confident, argumentative but said to be quite a giver... even if it is only to show off the pretty black lacquer of her credit card.

If there's anything that frustrates Ae-ri it's not being fawned over. She didn't think that was the case with Joon until it was and she grew increasingly broody about it. He was always smiling at her! Always letting her borrow his things! Always melting her with that warm eye smile... but not asking her out? What kind of game was he playing? She wasn't sure... but she'd show him that she was better at playing it.

She's been pursuing him since.
