MARS

While familiar with the assorted aspects of sleep, Mars himself was unable to perform the act. He would power down at night, this was primarily due to his roommate being an organic life form with a set sleep cycle, and to ruin that would be unkind, not to mention it could possibly result in many health complications later in life.

A lockdown seemed to be a morale booster attempt, Mars was not against this, he was aware of the positive effects of social interactions. Deciding he would attend, a thought pondered, would it be permitted to transfer credits to another student? If Uzali were to fall asleep, he would simply opt-out of shutting down for the night then transfer his earned credit to her, he that something internal had altered after she had been through the simulation and received her evaluation. Given that all of her squadmates passed and she did not, it was only right to assume she was not the most chipper of individuals.

But enough about the past. He needed to focus on the present. Mars was presently punctual to the auditorium, no that would be incorrect, he was ten minutes ahead of the designated meetup time. An instructor gave him permission to enter prior to 8 o’clock. Mars found an acceptable spot and sat down, eagerly waiting for the other participants to arrive.

Abel
Location: Auditorium

Pushing open the auditorium doors, Abel was surprised to see that he was one of the first ones to arrive. Glancing around the room, Abel felt a twinge of embarrassment seeing most of the students wearing plain-coloured pyjamas. If robots could blush, Abel would be the same bright pastel pink as the hoodie he decided to wear. Quietly shuffling to one corner of the room, he held his lithops close to his chest as he slowly slid down into a sitting position on the floor. He briefly wondered if bringing them was a bad idea, but he decided that they were probably fine. After all, they managed to survive TJ's 'cheeto water.' He was sure they could handle a little rough housing.

Please say they could handle a little rough housing.

Abel took another glance around, this time from the auditorium floor. A few students were already forming their own little groups. He recognised a few from the greenhouse, and Abel brightened when he saw that they had brought their own plants as well. Without much thought, Abel got up from his corner and walked over to them. One student, who Abel recognised as Sky, brightened when they noticed the large android walking over. Waving him down and patting the empty space next to them, Sky shot Abel a lazy grin as the droid slipped into a cross-legged position beside them.

"Abe! What's up, man? Didn't expect you to come to this, seeing as your grades aren't awful like mine."

Abel gave them a relaxed laugh. "I honestly just came because it sounded interesting. Plus I don't actually need sleep, so." That, and he wanted to give Frey a break.

-

He hadn't expected the human to approach him in the hallway and ask to be his sparring partner. To be honest, the android was hoping to convince Faene to be his sparring partner. But Abel, never one to turn down a friend who asked for his help, agreed to help Frey- albeit reluctantly.

-

Training Frey wasn't as bad as Abel had expected. He is a quick learner, and is very light on his feet. Abel knew the human would have to gain more muscle if he wanted to go up against someone in a one-on-one using only his fists. Despite this, Abel was hesitant to give him what the android believed to be the optimal training regimen. But he was pleasantly surprised when Frey didn't seem fazed. No, the fiery determination Abel saw in Frey's eyes when the human first asked him to be his sparring partner had returned.

So Abel helped monitor his progress. Throughout the week, Frey had managed to gain around 0.4 pounds of muscle. About the average for any human male. And Abel was proud of him. Sure, it would probably take a few months before any substantial muscle increase happened, but Frey was progressing at a nice pace. Abel had also taught him to take advantage momentum, and use it knock down opponents larger then him. The training was fun, lighthearted. It gave Abel a distraction from his own progress.

More specifically, the fact that he wasn't making any.

Abel knew that he could always ask Frey to monitor his own progress so the android could work on himself, but helping his mentor-slash-trainee gave the android an excuse. An excuse to avoid dealing with his own little roadblock. Abel he knew was probably acting silly. Hurting others can have it's pros, but... it just felt wrong. He couldn't put his finger on it, but whenever he thinks about... killing something with his own bare hands, he felt an aching feeling twist in his gut. He could probably go hours arguing with himself, but training Frey gave him a distraction. So until the android dealt with his roadblock, all he could do is hope that the next simulation would not involve fighting anything alive...

-

Snapping out of his little flashback, Abel noticed Sky looking at him with a pout. "Aww man, no fair! That means you're definitely gonna get the extra credit," they whined, and Abel felt bad for finding it a little funny. Suddenly, Sky's pout turned into a sly grin, and they scooted a little closer. In an innocent voice, they asked; "Say, you wouldn't mind giving me some of your extra marks, would you?" Batting their eyelashes, Abel finally broke and let out a soft laugh.

"Sorry Sky, no can do. My grades may not be as bad as yours, but they could certainly do with some improvement."

Pout returned, Sky held their hand to their forehead and gave an exaggerated moan of anguish. Abel immediately burst into laughter, joined by the two other students in their group. After their laughter died down, the four slipped into a casual and much quieter conversation with each other.

A week had passed since the simulation had happened, and Frey was feeling significantly better. He had watched videos on self-defense the night of the simulation, and he tried to copy the videos both inside of his dorm room and outside, but it was difficult to figure out movements by himself. That was when he decided he needed someone to train with, which was going to be interesting. He had considered asking Faene to train with him, but he figured she might be too rough with him. She was a good fighter, and confident, but Frey was mildly intimidated by her. Plus, he had almost no skills with combat, and he didn’t want to annoy his roommate by being totally incompetent.

He had also considered asking Uzali to spar with him as well, but then he had seen Abel in the hallway. That guy, he realized, might be perfect. Abel was gentle and kind, and Frey was his tutor. Plus, they were friends. That helped significantly. He had approached the big android easily and asked his question, and Abel agreed, thankfully. He knew it probably wasn’t completely fair, since Abel was much larger and stronger than Frey, but the brunet thought it’d be a good place to start.

Abel was a good teacher, and the entire week had been rather productive. Frey felt like he was more capable now, since Abel had come up with a regimen to work with his body’s nimbleness. The android had taught him different maneuvers and techniques that he hadn’t heard of before, and he had learned how to take people down without hurting them too badly. He was making good progress, but he wanted to also help Abel. He would have to bring it up next time they trained together.

Frey was in front of the auditorium now, and he flashed his SIHC at one of the supervising teachers. It was a few minutes past eight, and he knew that was probably too early, but he wanted to see who’d be at the lockdown. He quietly went through the doors, and instantly he saw Abel talking with some other students. He was holding a pot with something in it, but Frey couldn’t make out whatever it was. He didn’t want to cut into the conversation, so he scanned the room for any other familiar faces.

He saw Mars and decided to go over to him. The android was his dorm mate, and Frey remembered how he had left him and Uzali to fend for themselves in the simulation. He briefly wondered how both Uzali and Mars died in that fake reality, but he pushed the thought aside, because he didn’t want to bring back bad memories. He pulled up a smile as he approached Mars and waved, then sat down near him. “Hey there, dormie,” he said lightly, pulling his sleeves over his hand. “This is a pretty nice spot you got here.” He looked at Mars’ face, then narrowed his eyes slightly. “Are you here for the extra credit? I don’t think that’s entirely fair, since most androids don’t need to sleep, right?” He pursed his lips, but then lifted a shoulder in a shrug and pulled his hood up over his head. The air in the room was chilly to him. “Unless you aren’t here for the extra points and just want to mingle with everyone else. That’s what I’m wanting to do, because I doubt I’ll be able to stay awake all night long.”

"sleepover"
xiomara
Dressed in worn grey sweatpants and a form-fitted black tank top, the girl was racing past the Rotek Academy gardens towards the auditorium entrance. Xio had lived nearly every night as a sleepover. She had shared one room with her 11 siblings, all crammed next to each other like sardines. Except, unlike sardines, Xio hadn't been dead- though she wished she had been. It was practically impossible to get any sleep when your little brother was snoring into the back of your neck, or your older sister was wide awake, her acrylic nails tinking loudly on the family holotablet.

It was nice when she finally got the stomach to take off. Xio tended to bounce between inns and alleys, maybe at a friend's house then and there. It was thrilling at first, but then it got old, and she made some enemies, and suddenly it became more and more difficult to find a place to sleep at night. She bounced from place to place every other week, but she made it work. Xio had learned to sleep anywhere, in any condition, and to be grateful for the place she got. It was unlikely that Xio would be able to make it through the night awake, but she was just thankful to have the opportunity to spend the night with good company.

Xio was in good spirits tonight. The previous week she had somehow, miraculously, earned herself a pass at the simulation examination. Xio wasn't one to feel bad for others, or herself, for obtaining a decent grade, but still- she couldn't help but feel a bit remorseful like she could have done more to help her teammates. It was hard seeing her squad so down, especially Bluu and Torin. They had everything to prove, while Xio didn't have much to lose. Bluu and Torin had reputations to uphold. Xio wished she could do something to let them know that she didn't think of them as failures, but she felt it best to leave it alone.

Xio bounded down a stepstone pathway, her worn backpack swinging out behind her. When she arrived at the entrance, her holocard was scanned. Xio beamed at the staff member who checked her card, almost a bit too eagerly. Her holocard was handed back to her, and Xio pocketed it. She skipped into the auditorium promptly at 8:00, just barely making it on time. It seemed like things were in full swing, students were chatting about, filling the seats and setting up camp. Xio searched for a familiar face. Abel looked occupied, but from the corner of her eye, she could spot Frey and Mars. Had Xio been an awkward person, she may have thought twice about approaching the boy who's fears had been the focus of last week's simulation, and the droid who had sacrificed himself for higher purposes. But she wasn't.

Xio made her way over, slipped between the folded seats. She pushed past a few students and raised an arm, waving it a bit frantically, excitedly, towards the pair to get their attention. She could only catch the last thing that Frey said as she arrived at the two already occupying seats. Unwarranted, Xio placed herself right beside them, inserting herself into the conversation. Xio hoped that the two would welcome her, rather than find her annoying.
"-because I doubt I'll be able to stay awake all night long." Frey was saying to Mars.

"Hi, Mars, Frey!" Xio interrupted quickly, smiling at both of them to signal her well intentions.

"Sorry," she apologized, "Mind if I join you two?" It wasn't really a question. They weren't going to get rid of her anytime soon. She had already joined them, whether they wanted her to or not.

Xio regarded Frey's comment, saying, "I agree. I can't stay awake. I can't even remember the last time I pulled an all-nighter willingly."

Arlar
location: auditorium
interactions: open :D
Arlar had arrived at the auditorium wearing a sort of hoody jumper combo that seemed a bit too big for the rather short alien. Slumber was a bit perplexing to Arlar well they already maintained living quarters with other students... what made a day where they all resided within the same quarters so different? and for the species that required regular sleep, it seemed rather unfair for them to be asked to remain active for twenty-four hours. Arlar simply shrugged it off humans where strange after all so no point in trying to overthink it, naturally hed brought his nanite swarm with him, why wouldn't he? But he'd also brought a small handheld game console form home totally lacking external controls or even a screen as per se, the small black box is designed to interface with technopathic abilities. instead of going and talking to anyone at first, he opted to just play his game sitting himself down and then seeming to hug the box red eyes seeming to glaze over as he "turned it on" so to speak.

This probably wouldn’t come as much of a surprise to well….anyone, but Torin had never been to a sleepover. It wasn’t that he wasn’t invited, no he was quite charming in his younger years; it was his parents, more specifically his father who found them pointless, and now at the ripe age of twenty-one Torin found them pointless as well.

But this wasn’t a sleepover, this was a lockdown, which meant it was totally appropriate that he attended, and even more so due to the extra credit. Not that he needed it, failing one simulation doesn’t ruin nearly perfect grades, a little cushion would be nice, perhaps nearing finals he could relax for a change.

He found himself arriving after many students had already checked in, he handed off his SIHC to an instructor and gave a half-smile before entering the auditorium. He spotted several familiar faces, Abel was conversing with a small group, Arlar was keeping to himself, while Xiomara, Frey, and Mars were lumped together. The sight of Frey in such a weak state after the simulation still left a sour taste in his mouth, it was probably best if he stayed clear of the other male until further notice.

He offered them a cordial wave before finding an empty spot elsewhere.

Mars was overwhelmingly pleased with the fact that he had been approached so quickly, he never thought of himself as well-known amongst the masses, partially due to his rather quiet demeanor. Mars had a longing to belong, if he were similar to the Altovar twins or Frey, or any of the more socially active students, then maybe he could achieve this goal of his, but he was too formal, too stiff, and he behaved as though these mannerism were programmed into his system.

With lips curled, he exhibited the warmest of smiles. “Mister.” Mars halted mid-speech, there was a minor pause, similar to that of a quick reboot. “Frey, thank you for joining.” Upon fully processing what was said by Frey he replied with a shake of the head. “I am do not require additional credit to pass any of the courses I am enrolled in.”

“I desire social interaction.” Mars answered earnestly, fully aware that statistically speaking, more than half of the students that had chosen to participate would not be eligible for the extra credit. Soon after he answered Frey, Xiomara joined the party of two. Mars gleefully welcomed the human. “Pleased to have you.”

“Have the two of you ever participated in an event such as this?” Humans were known for their get-togethers.

For many, getting into Rotek was the defining moment in their lives that said they'd reached adulthood. It meant leaving behind their relatively careless upbringings, and taking on the very real responsibilities that came with being known as the city's protectors. Only for Faene, that transition never felt as if it had taken place. Whether it meant defending herself on the streets of Perio, or proving herself on the sparring mats, it never really occurred to her that she'd never had much of a childhood. It was all hitting, all at once, as she stood at the entrance of the auditorium, arguably the most nervous she'd ever felt about attending an academy function. No amount of barking from her superiors could've prepared her for the prospect of a night of juvenile fun with her peers, and somehow, it made Faene feel cheated. As if she'd been withheld some crucial training.

The first of what she assumed would be many challenges was picking out her outfit. Being her most immediate roommate, Frey was probably familiar with her usual nightly garb, a tank top and shorts, but she didn't want everyone to see her in either. It felt like too big of a leap from the armor they were all equal in. Instead, she dug deep into her stash of civvies and dug out her softest, most pajama-adjacent outfit. An oversized hoodie, and a pair of joggers. Under all that fabric, one could almost be tricked into forgetting what an unsoft creature Faene really was.

Faene gave the guards a look at her ID and stepped into the auditorium. In her search for her squad, she scanned the forming cliques for the largest bodies in the room, hoping to use Abel as a beacon, but found herself accidentally meeting Talomur's gaze from across the spacious room. A fellow student and member of the proud Vallar race, Faene had crossed paths with his monolithic frame more than a few times, as he was also leader of Onyx-Omega. Realizing she was being waved over, Faene let out an exasperated sigh before giving in and joining his squad by the arcade. Nothing good ever came out of him putting on a friendly face.

Beside him was Poppy Langrisser, his doll-faced, gunslinger lieutenant who's steely gaze seemed to carry no respect for the fact that Faene was also human. Hooked up to one of the VR stations was one of the Codas, the androids under Talomur's command, slashing away at the air while its "twin" sat back and watched. "Nosebleed-Takar. We enjoyed your lacking performance," he gloated, tacking on his culture's obligatory prefix for the respect of a fellow warrior. "Take this time to finish licking your wounds. It won't be long before you're forgotten in our shadow."

Faene's tilted head stared daggers into Talomur's eyes. "Count yourself lucky we aren't allowed to fight in here. And that you have me outnumbered. Enjoy your evening." With that, she turned tail and decided to avoid the arcade altogether.

Talking with Sky, May and Clark was fun- albeit a little distant. Sure, they all knew eachother from the greenhouse, but that was about it. The three already knew eachother from their teams working together, making Abel feel just a tad left out. So imagine his relief when he saw Frey walk in through the auditorium doors. There was someone he knew as a friend and not just as a polite acquaintance. But just as Abel was about to get up, he hesitated. It would be rude to just leave a conversation, even if the three were already drifting towards their own teammates.

So Abel waited. He saw Xio, Torin, even Fae walk through the auditorium doors. Fidgeting with the black drawstrings of his baggy gray sweatpants, Sky finally noticed the android looking elsewhere. An eyebrow raised, the brunette asked him what was wrong.

"Ah- nothing, Skyler!"

"Really, Abe? Skyler?" The human glanced over Abel's shoulder, seeing the group Frey was in. With a mischievous smirk, Sky turned to Abel once again. "Ohh, I see. You've been cheating on us, huh?"

The android looked mortified. Causing Sky to burst into a fit of cackles. A few moments passed with Abel holding his head in his hands and Sky continuing to laugh. After the human had successfully managed to gain the attention of anyone in the nearby vicinity, their laughter finally died down and they wiped a tear from their eye, punching the android's shoulder as they did.

"Just- pft- just go over there, you nerd."

And go over there Abel did. Picking up his plant and shuffling over to Frey's group, he slowly sat down- completely and utterly embarrassed. He couldn't even look up, only muttering a meek "Hi." and "Sorry." He heard the background chatter slowly come back, but he couldn't bring himself to look up. Sky is a good friend- reliable, loyal, intelligent. It's just- they can be a bit much.

Frey smiled when Mars addressed him as “mister,” but then he let out a quiet laugh when he corrected himself. Although he and the android didn’t talk very much, he was familiar with how formal Mars could be around others. He heard how he spoke around Uzali, but he guessed that made sense, considering she was a princess. Mars said he desired social interaction and Frey grinned, and was about to say that the android could talk with him whenever, no problem, but then he saw movement out of the corner of his eye and glanced toward it.

The movement was his blonde teammate, Xio, trying to get their attention. He smiled at her and waved back, then she took the seat between the two of them. “Hiya, Xio!” Frey laughed, glancing at Mars as he said he was pleased to have her. He nodded rapidly, then gasped and covered his mouth. “I have an idea, Blondie.” He leaned closer to Xio and cupped his hand around his mouth, dropping his voice down to a whisper. “We could help each other stay awake. Like, pinch each other when either of us dozes off.” He pinched his fingers similarly to a crab, then he laughed and leaned away from her again. “Or we could have Mars here keep us awake,” he said, jabbing his thumb at the black-haired android.

“Oh, but yeah, I’ve been to loads of sleepovers before.” Frey waved a hand dismissively, but then he realized Mars probably had never done anything like this. “Uh, but they’re pretty fun. Usually when it gets later people tend to dissolve into giggles, because they’re so tired, and everything becomes hilarious when you’re sleep-deprived.” He heard a laugh behind him and turned to see who was laughing, and he saw Abel holding his head in his hands. He wanted to call to his friend to rescue him from the situation, but he heard the auditorium door open and looked to see who came in. Faene scanned the auditorium, then he saw her let out a sigh and averted his attention. He didn’t want to be caught snooping, although he was curious about whatever had caused his roommate to sigh like that.

The seat next to him shifted, and he heard Abel say a quick hello, followed by a quiet apology. He turned to look at him and tapped his arm, since he was too short to reach Abel's shoulder. "No need to apologize, Abe." He pulled up a bright smile and tugged on the pink hoodie's sleeve, then pointed toward the plants in Abel's pot. "What kind of succulents are those? Do they have individual names? Do you got a favorite one?" he asked, in an attempt to pull Abel out of his gloomy mood.

After the events of last week, Uzali has been in a deeply contemplative state. She didn’t bother to leave her room unless it was for class and talked to virtually no one. She barely even felt like communicating with her brother, having to ignore his calls on the communicator and requesting for Mars to deter the alien prince from entering the dorm. What the professor Al has said, truly did affect her inner being. Back on planet Zatyr, the alien princess was renowned as being among the most intelligent in the nation. At such a young age, the alien was already developing advanced Zatyrian technology and even was allowed to be a part of her father's war council and provide intel and tactics.

And despite her awkward and difficult transition during the first year at the academy, it didn’t take long for her to adapt to the more simple, human life and rise in ranks at the academy. Going from a regular squad member to the commander of one. Granted, the alien princess didn’t particularly care much of the ideals and expectations that the earthlings placed upon the students in the academy, however, she did care about when her very intelligence that she so prided herself on was being questioned. When Professor Al brought her leadership capabilities into question, Uzali had shut down immediately. She lost all the fire that had welled up inside of her. Leading her to shut herself in and think about her abilities as a leader. Was she truly capable of being the platinum squad lead? If she couldn’t even protect those of her team, how would she ever be able to take back her planet from her diabolic father?

These...emotions were not something the alien princess was accustomed to, and she could quite honestly do without them. Eventually though, Uzali was brought out from her stupor when Tartimok managed to get through to her, and told her about the bulletin that was posted about there being something called a, ‘ lock in’. She didn’t particularly understand what that meant, but only that if she were to attend, it would supplement her scoring within the program.

And so, that is how Uzali ended up in front of the wide auditorium doors, along with her twin. As the pair approached the staff at the door, the ID checker raised an interested brow at the sight of the sibling pair. The two were dressed in matching pajamas that they had found on the cybernet, after searching up the term, ‘ pajamas’. She thought they looked quite the part if she did say so herself. The platinum squad leader held her SIHC to the staff and waited for her brother to do the same. “ Tartimok, do show this human authenticator your academy identification so we may proceed to the...fun?” Uzali said with barely concealed curiosity in her voice, as she could hear the sound of earth music and talking coming from inside. Looking from the door, the platinum haired girl looked at her brother with her head tilted, “ You are sure to have brought the required item..yes?” Uzali was aware of how her brother would forget the important details of things.

Abel seemed to brighten at the mention of his plant. Holding the small red flowerpot up, one would be able to see the group of split Lithops. "These are called Lithops, but I think they're more commonly referred to as 'Living Stones.' I've had them for a while now, so that's why you can see the split in the middle. As for naming, I don't really give them any individual names. I just name them by the group they're in. These ones I call the River Pebbles, unsurprisingly because of their more pebble-like coloration. If I had to pick a favorite, I suppose it's this one in the middle." The android pointed to a slightly bigger Lithop, one with a few bright yellow petals sticking out. He seemed to smile fondly at it. "This one is the fastest grower of the bunch. I can't wait to see it flower."

Suddenly the android looked up. "Ah- sorry for ranting. You guys probably aren't interested in succulents." With a nervous laugh, Abel put his flowerpot down. Deciding to change the subject, Abel's mind scrambled for something to talk about. "So, how was your guys' week? Do anything interesting after the simulation?" It was a simple, but hopefully effective distraction. He knew how Frey had spent his week, but the android was curious about how the others spent theirs.

Xan had had a tumultuous week in regards to his mental status. He thought that seeing his roommates failing because they left him behind would make him feel better. It didn't. He'd come to realize that for one, leaving him behind wasn't the only reason they'd failed and he had to understand that it wasn't all about him. They hadn't failed because they'd left him behind. They'd failed because they'd left a student behind. He had to get that through his head. And he also had to come to terms with how leaving him behind made him feel. He couldn't hold on to this grudge forever or it would consume him.

Furthermore, taking glee in their failure was distinctly cruel and bad mannered. Which made itself ever present in the fact that Xan received no glee or satisfaction from their failure, but that he'd wanted to. He'd wanted to feel righteous. He'd wanted to feel like karma had come down and pulled the rug out from under them. He realized after he'd calmed down that such thinking was terrible and he shouldn't wish that upon people. No matter if they'd abandoned him or not.

He then fell down a spiral of guilt for wanting to feel good that his peers received bad marks. To combat this guilt he'd avoided his roommates for the entire week. He'd felt so ashamed for yelling at them when they'd probably tried their best. He'd kept replaying the moments after the simulation in his head and cringing at everything that he'd said. He'd wished he'd kept his mouth shut and just let them fail gracefully. Instead he'd called them out and not only embarrassed himself by not being able to contain himself, but he'd probably also embarrassed everyone else.

He'd almost completely ignored the lock in. But his mother had urged him to go. She'd seen him wallowing and feeling ashamed and stupid and she'd decided to nip that in the bud quick. She told him he needed to get up and move on. Put it behind him and have fun. He didn't need the marks for going, but he could use the interaction to lift his spirits and help pull him out of his guilt for yelling at his roommates.

So there he was, passing by the Altovar twins, flashing his SIHC and walking into the auditorium. He was quick to see his teammate, Mars. He also saw Abel, a friend from the greenhouse and Frey, his tutor. He also saw a girl he knew to be Xio. She'd been apart of their simulation. He quickly speedwalked over to their little circle and sat down next to Mars, not talking and pulling his hood over his face. He sat crisscross applesauce on the floor, his tail swishing agitatedly from side to side.

Failure wasn’t a foreign concept to TJ, he was going to fail until he left this world. What was important was that he learned from his failures, he wouldn’t rush into battle without a shield, so he wasn’t sure why he charged at that cute hybrid without armor. Regardless that was all in the past. He was over it, but many students weren’t, many humans weren’t. They’re weaker. He thought. But then he saw his sister in the same state as the weak humans. TJ was heartbroken, he was always able to cheer up his sister, but she wouldn’t even speak to him, he nearly tore her roommate in two, but knew that wouldn’t help with the situation. They had a connection, he knew she would open up when she was ready.

This school event was the perfect opportunity for Uzali to become herself again, the lunar princess that most had come to love. “We will be doing the imprisonment with the fellow students.” Said the older twin as he dug in his top shirt pocket for his SIHC. The teacher checking the IDs shook their head, knowing that the two alien twins were odd. Stepping aside he gestured for the two to go ahead in. TJ was overjoyed to partake in the school’s first lock-in. After watching several videos about slumber parties and sleepovers he was certain he had a good idea of what he’d be doing. “I can’t wait to coat the nails with paint and sip the gos with my girlfriends.” He tugged Uzali to the food bar, hoping that they had Cheetos.

Bluu's week had been, quite frankly, exhausting. She couldn't blame anyone but herself for her physical and mental fatigue given that she was the one who'd pushed herself through extra training sessions til she could barely slink back to her dorm and slither beneath the mass of fluff and fabric she favored as a sleeping hole. Though Kemel had proven to provide quite the assist in the form of her new gym "buddy". Her sessions alone could be grueling simply due to the strain she put on her natural stamina but in the company of the Onyx squad member she found herself challenging her limits in new ways. She could have done without having her dormmate witness her legs giving out mid-squat to dump her on her behind but she'd put in enough work by that point that she hadn't had the energy to care that he'd yet again seen her less than perfectly put together. Not to mention his company could be somewhat amusing. Though she'd never tell him that.

Still, amid all the physicality of her week, it was her brain that had perhaps been taxed the most. The questions still remained heavy on her mind, her terrible eval lingering like a stain on her record. The more she tried to dismiss it, the more it occupied her thoughts. A most plaguing and altogether horrendous thing for Bluu, really.

As it was, the fanged female could only blame her exhaustion for whatever cursed phenomena that had taken over her enough to have her actually utter an affirmative confirmation regarding her attendance at tonights... whatever this lockdown thing was supposed to be. Dormmates aside, clearly she'd been outside of her mind to have agreed to something that forced her into the same space as so many people for no good reason. Then again, it was possible that her instructor may have had a small iota of a point when they mentioned this potentially being a clue to some of the answers she was seeking as of late. That perhaps she held herself too far from others to really understand much of anything about them.

Dressed in what passed for pajamas for Bluu, aka a long sleeved compression top and pants that clung to her form and helped her retain body heat as well as cover her scales and tattoos, and clutching a body pillow, the serpentine young woman barely restrained a sigh as she gave over her id to check in. The admittedly fuzzy black slippers on her feet did leave bare a small amount of skin which showed a detailed swatch of what some might have been able to deduce was an indigo feather while her foot was busy tap-tapping away impatiently while she waited the addition seconds required to be admitted.

When she was finally ushered through and had her id returned she hurried into the space only to find her steps slowing as the realization of the night that lay ahead of her truly hit her. Discomfort was not as foreign to her as others might think, and though she'd keep it well under wraps, Bluu unconsciously began to look for those that she felt the most comfort with--though that wasn't saying much really. It would not hit her until her singular blue eye picked out Frey and Torin and she did not make a further move toward either--Frey being surrounded by so many already and Torin being about as approachable as she herself was despite being admittedly easy on the eye--that it was Kemel's form that she was searching for.

It was yet another oddity to add to the list of those that had occurred this week for sure. Thankfully another drop in the bucket of confusion within her did not do much to upset her. Instead she simply shrugged and resumed moving her steps taking her nowhere in particular just yet, though the slight parting of her lips and slow inhale did slightly derail her attention to notice a certain quantity of sugar nearby...

Kemel would be lying if he told you he was looking forward to this shut in party or whatever, would he rather be testing weaponry at the firing range? Absolutely, maybe improving himself at the gym? Hell yea, even talking to the R&D nerds about upgrades and adjustments to his armaments and armour, of course. However, sometimes you got to be the bigger person, and this was one of these occasions, plus, how bad could some sort of big sleepover with students from the academy be? So, Kemel got into his plain tracksuit and headed to the auditorium. The only people he really ever gravitated too were the ones assigned to his own squad, and even then he didn't share any specific connection to anyone there, as he thought right. Maybe this could prove to help him build better relations with people from his cohort, or maybe not.

As Kemel got to the door he flashed the guard his ID, not understanding the full importance of it, surely the security team knew it was him by now. Anyway, the party at a first glance was exactly what he thought it would be, people gossiping and talking in small groups, Kemel had no will to join them. Instead he moved to the bar to see the drinks at hand. At first glance people would see this Ukranian boy at the bar and assume he's looking for alcohol, Kemel found this stereotype quite annoying, he never needed alcohol to have a good time and he never thought of consuming it here in the presence of his peers, as he was not a pretty drunk. He indulged rather into the sodas.

From the bar he had a rather good view of the event, his eyes caught the Bluu's form, his now new gym partner, it was good having someone you could trust on watch your back and spot you as you lift, kind of refreshing. He watched and analysed her eyes sweep the room, maybe she was looking for someone? For him perhaps? With a drink in his hand he waved over too her, though if she didn't mean to find him he would casually play it off as if he was simply stretching, hopefully that wasn't the case, no one likes being embarrassed.

With instructors gone, students began to loosen up. Some had managed to smuggle in their preferred choice of alcohol. Now with liquid courage in their system, classic party games are suggested. Though there were a few objections, they ended up deciding on playing spin the bottle. Let the chaos begin! The time is now 11:00PM.

"spin the bottle"
xiomara
Xio nodded in agreement as she listened to Frey’s plan to keep each other awake. Xio had gotten lucky this week, passing the simulation test and all. However, Xio didn’t have a reputation for good scores. One pass hadn’t really helped her all that much- she had a long way to go to get her grades up. She needed the extra points; besides, it would be something she could brag about to her roomies later.

“Yeah. Let’s do that- and if we both can’t stay awake, we can have Mars as our backup plan,” Xio suggested, nodding towards Mars.

To answer Mars’s question regarding whether or not she has been to a sleepover before, she responded, “Yeah, me too. Like, all the time.” She was a bit self-conscious when it came to her past, which was very unlike her boisterous, extroverted personality, so she decided to tell a half-truth. In reality, she spent almost every night as if it were a sleepover. Except, most of the time, they weren’t all that much fun. Tonight was different. Tonight was going to be fun.

As cliques began to coagulate, Xio found herself surrounded by a group of her own peers. Xan, who appeared to be in distress, had joined them; his tailed swished back and forth with anxiety, which in turn, made Xio concerned for him. Judging by his drawn hoodie, she assumed he did not want to talk about it. Still, Xio nudged his knee with her own, giving him a warm and reassuring smile.

Abel had also joined the group, his hands full of succulents. As Frey and Abel chatted about plants, which Xio didn’t know much about, she scanned the auditorium- not looking for anyone specific, but hoping that she might find her leader. Of the groups, she couldn’t see Torin amongst any of them. She frowned. Maybe he didn’t come? Then she spotted the slender figure occupying an empty spot in the auditorium.

“Sorry, guys. I’ll be right back.” She excused herself from the group and headed towards Torin, a bit too eagerly as if he might run away from her if she didn’t get to him first. Xio wasn’t exactly the best at reading other people, but she knew Torin wasn’t the type to attend these sorts of events. She knew this wasn’t his scene, so maybe she could help him let loose a bit? Judging by his distance from her group, she could also tell that he probably wasn’t feeling too well about how the simulation ended.

“Hi boss.” She said, bouncing up to him happily. He was nearly a foot taller than her, so she had to crane her neck to meet his eye.

“No offense, but this,” Xio gestured to him in an up and down motion, “is sad. You should come join us! If it makes you feel any better, I’m glad you came.” Xio smiled.

Xio noticed a circle begin to form of all of the students. She had never played before, but the empty glass bottle at the center of the circle gave away to her exactly what game the students had decided to play. Xio didn’t wait for Torin’s response before she was pulling him by the elbow towards the circle. Games were some of Xio’s favorite things.

“Come on, Torin. Let’s play!” She said, tugging him along as she sped through the flocking students.

“Hey, guys! Don’t start without us!” Xio called out, and took a seat on the floor, pulling Torin down next to her. She tugged her fuzzy socks up, excited for the game to begin.

Faene had only managed to catch a few sips of whatever human liquor she could get her hands on, but it was still enough to lighten her mood after her little run-in with Talomur. In fact, she was in such a good mood, Faene didn't just straight-up leave when someone produced an empty bottle and proposed a game older and more battle-tested than any of them. Spin the bottle. Something she'd only ever heard of kids playing at camp or in their secluded bedrooms, that she never imagined getting a chance to partake in in her 20's. Plus, her group was made up of the three squads she was most familiar with, so that only made things more personal and awkward. And yet, when the time came, Faene was sitting in the same circle as everyone, with her hand on the empty bottle first.

Failing at fighting back an uncharacteristic smile, she gave everyone a wild look before whipping the bottle's neck around as hard as she could (without breaking it, of course). Round and round it went, in tandem with her wandering gaze, as if she was steering it towards a specific prey. Until... It landed on Uzali. "Mm... Moon Girl. Pucker up, Plat, I'm coming in." Smoothly transferring from having her legs crossed to crawling on her hands and knees, Faene cross the gap between them, kneeing around the bottle, until hardly any space was left between them. She closed her eyes, parted her lips, before-

"This is this...no! I do not mate with the human, no, no!” Uzali pushed Faene to the floor, making her land on her side and get the wind knocked out of her.

"Ugh... Fine," Faene retreated to her side of the circle, rubbing her flank through her hoodie. "But you know the rules, this means I get to dare you to do something... A question." She visually took a moment to compose herself, before asking with a straight face, "Be honest, what do you really think of me, Uzali? And you won't hurt my feelings, I swear. Just let it rip."

What had initially began as two roommates conversing over trivial topics, had transversed into a melting pot of members from different squadrons all broadcasting a flux of emotions. Mars’ radar was being overstimulated. Mechanical irises scanned the form that was Anatenaxanti Ryonintu, Mars concluded that the otherworldly life form was in need of a comforting treatment, he was prepared to offer when the entire atmosphere seemed to have switched the moment the doors were locked from the outside and the footsteps of the instructors retreated. Liquor was passed around freely and with it came intoxication for those who were lightweights. Mars made sure to alter his primary radar to read the blood alcohol level of those within his radius.

Soon after drinking, came games, for reasons, unknown to him, humans were more lively when alcohol was involved. Though he knew to continue to monitor his fellow students, he wanted to enjoy the festivities. Thus making him volunteer to spin the bottle next. With a flick of his wrist, the bottle twirled. And twirled. And twirled. And twirled. And twirled. Then it came to a complete stop. On the other end, Torin Nox, and though a racing heart certainly wasn’t a symptom he could exhibit, the bot was nervous. Torin’s face was molded into a displeased one, Mars swore he saw the team lead attempt to tap the bottle in Xiomara’s direction. Mars knew this wouldn’t end in anyone’s favor.

“I’m declining this once in a life time opportunity, instead I’d rather accept a dare.” Mars was fearful of both outcomes, but he made his choice.

When people got drunk, the dumb became dumber. Though, if you were to ask Torin, about half of the students in onyx squads couldn’t possibly lower their already alarmingly low IQ. Platinum was no different, take Xan for example, he recalled the alien’s reaction after the simulation, how he directed a brief burst of anger towards him as if it was Torin’s job to protect him. That moron does not belong on the Platinum Squad. the team lead said to himself as he sipped on whatever disgusting drink had been offered to him, these idiots did not know how to mix alcohol.

Contrary to popular belief Torin didn’t naturally hate anyone, he did however believe that anyone who could voice their opinion was by default annoying. So about two-thirds of the people in the room could kick rocks. The other one-third were either squadmates or members from other squads who he had completed missions with in the past. Speaking of squadmates, he spotted Xio approaching and knew that she probably wasn’t just going to say hello and leave, because that just wasn’t the type of person Xiomara was. “Do you always insult people then butter them up?” he asked with a smirk.

Torin wasn’t given much of an option by Xiomara, he didn’t find it necessary to fight back, everyone else seemed to be joining in, he didn’t want to stand out. In all honesty, he wasn’t against spin the bottle, it was a different way to judge someone’s character. Faene went up first, no surprise there, and the bottle landed on the weird moon princess. It was obvious that Uzali was not interested, he didn’t believe she knew what exactly she had signed up for. The spin ended up being flipped into a dare, and while Faene waited for an answer, Mars spun next, Torin could see the bottle slowing down.

Fuck. He cursed internally as the bottle came to a stop. The dark-haired male side-eyed Xio, he even considered scooching her or the bottle over, but that would boring. So he readied himself for a kiss. Mars, however, knew how to read a room, and requested a dare instead. “I’m flattered, and I dare you to sit in someone’s lap facing them until this game is over.” he smacked his lips gleefully and grabbed ahold of the bottle and gave it a quick spin. There wasn’t anyone in particular, he was hoping it would land on. However, when the bottle landed on Faene both brows quirked up, he was a bit surprised. “Don’t worry I’m not going to try to knock you unconscious like moonbeam over here.” he gestured in Uzali’s direction.

Brushing the bottle out of the way until the next turn, the brown-skinned male inched towards the taller form, closing the gap between them. Cocoa orbs danced from facial-feature to facial-feature before landing on target. Faene possessed undoubtedly kissable lips, he was beginning to question why Uzali turned down an opportunity to have a go at them. Torin couldn’t be sure what had gotten into him, perhaps it was the fact that he hadn’t done anything remotely enjoyable in months, or maybe it was whatever was in the drink, either way, he wasn’t going to be shy about it. Those lips were awfully inviting after all.

Naturally, his hand found itself cupping her cheek, while his robotic hand was strategically placed near her inner thigh. He unconsciously licked his lips lightly before meeting them with her's, they felt pillowy and he pulled himself closer before pulling back and taking a deep breath. “Alright, so who’s next?”

Tartimok, Faene, Mars, Xio-honestly the whole crew kay :3

Once Tartimok had finally produced his SIHC and they were allowed inside, her rambunctious sibling immediately had pulled her over to an area that held all sorts of human cuisine. She simply watched as her brother grabbed all the snacks he could hold and began devouring them. She recognized his infamously favored 'crunch meal' she liked to call them. His 'cheetah toes' or something. Shaking her platinum head at the males antics, Uzali decided to observe her fellow peers and watch what they do. The alien made out people grouping together in different sections of the space, some she recognized as part of her own squad. She blinked, a sudden idea coming to her as she watched some of her team mates converse. Perhaps she should talk to those within her squadron and receive their insight on how they perceived her leadership capabilities. Maybe that will ease the odd feelings she's been having within her since the simulation.

" Yes...Uzali will ask team." The alien princess muttered, nodding assuredly to herself. A few stares went towards the Altovar siblings presence, but neither paid any attention to them.

But just before she could make her way towards them, an announcement sounded overhead, informing the students that the doors have now closed and the lock down was commencing. The lights were further dimmed, the music was still playing but the atmosphere was much different than before. This resulted in her momentarily forgetting about her plan to question her subordinates on her performance as leader. Slightly confused and on alert, Uzali subconsciously gravitated closer towards her sibling. Not wanting to lose sight of him. But then the young alien stopped herself, and reminded herself she wasn't the same, naive and nervous alien from the previous year. No, she was a lot more confident in herself, as well as her abilities. And though being around so many humans and other life forms still made her apprehensive; she was no longer going to hide behind her brother for everything. She did not come this far, only to revert back to her adolescent behavior. Quickly regaining her composure, the platinum leader squared her shoulders back and resumed watching her brother eat his snacks as well as the actions of those around her.

Some time had clearly passed and the students were progressively becoming more and more loose. Uzali was also feeling a tad bit odd, but she didn't find it to be of no concern. She also noticed that everyone was consuming the same substance inside their brightly colored cups. Raising a curious brow, the alien princess lifted her own personal cup that a stranger had handed to her, up to her nose and took a sniff. She found nothing wrong with it. Glancing over at her brother, she gestured to the cup he also had, " Hmm, Tartimok, I do have a belief of there being an unknown substance inside this here liquid." She mused, peering into her cup a bit longer before taking another sip. Earthlings definitely had an interesting sense of taste. However, it didn't taste terrible either.

Before she could even finish the drink, someone had called over the Altovar siblings, and curiously the two followed along with the motions of the other students. As they were made to sit down on the floor, Uzali only understood a fraction of what the 'rules' were of this spin the bottle. As far as she could understand, this was game of physics. Whoever spins the bottle on the correct person would win, right? That's the idea that Uzali had and so she intently watched as the game unfolded, all the while sipping on the rest of the human juice. She watched as the Oynx leader spun the bottle and with widened eyes, saw as it pointed directly at her. She blinked in surprise and soon as she looked up, the distinct features of Faenes face was directly in front of her, causing Uzali fall back sightly onto her hands in surprise from the sudden intrusion. Then, Faene came even more perceptibly close to her face, so much so that Uzali could practically see the minuscule holes on the humans face, and realizing something was right, quickly shoved the muscular female away from her.

"This is this...no! I do not mate with the human, no, no!” She screamed in a barely decipherable voice.

Taking a deep inhale of breath, Uzali righted herself back up to a kneeling position and stared at Faene in confusion, " Faene...I do not understand, if you are attempting to mate me, you will be having to have many many trials first!" The alien princess huffed, " Oh..and also you will be needing to slay a mighty zirlak in wildlands of Zatyr, yes, yes. When you do so, please do inform me of this." Uzali told the human woman before looking at the leader inquisitively. " 'How do I feel?'" She repeated oddly. This game was quite interesting indeed. The platinum squad leader blinked innocently, appearing to be deep in thought, before lightly shrugging her shoulders, " Ah, what I feel for you, the human Faene." The onyx leaders name rolled off her tongue like she made a new discovery, " We do not feel as you earthlings do, our brains react differently, and I-" The alien princess paused her literal babble, she knew it was of no importance to explain this to Faene and instead bit her lip and looked away from the intense gaze of the human lead. She tried to rack her brain for the proper usage of words to say.

“ Faene is…of interest. You display great strength for a simple human...you give me reminder of the warriors on Zatyr.” Uzali let out the breath she wasn't aware she was holding and immediately leaned down to grasp the bottle. “ That will be enough, yes? It is now Uzali’s turn to make bottle spin.” And with that said, the alien spun the bottle, a bit too harshly, and watched as it spinned, hoping that it landed on the person she had in mind.

It landed on the gold squad member, Xiomar. Which was not the person she had in her mind. Uzali gave a slight pout, “ Ah fiznaks, I seem to be losing.” She looked at Xiomar, batting her fluffy lashes, “ What should Uzali be doing for you, Xiomar of Gold squadron.” She asked the blonde, pronouncing the young girls name horribly.

“ As spoken to Faene, we will not be mating. You also must go through sacred trials before it’s..allowed.”

If nothing else, she thinks I'm tough. I can live with that.

After her little flub with Uzali, Faene didn't expect the bottle to grace her with eye contact for the rest of their fun and games. Before tonight, she never imagined itching to put her lips on someone else in her circle, but had to admit, would've been left legitimately disappointed to go back to her bunk in the morning without getting to really participate. Embarrassing, but at least nobody could see the hopefulness behind her gently pursed lips. That is, until Torin came up to bat.

When his prosthetic grabbed hold of the bottle, Faene couldn't stop herself from breathing in slightly more abruptly than usual, audible only to those immediately beside her. Humans being in short supply, it was statistically improbable for any of them to spin the bottle and have it land on her. Even more unlikely was that she'd have to kiss someone she found... Genuinely attractive. Torin, a fellow squad lead, and just about the only member of the gold squad she considered to be proficiently deadly enough for a spot on onyx squad. Coupled with those sniper's eyes and his ever-so-slightly shorter figure, Faene found herself counting the seconds that their lips were still apart. She was going to enjoy this.

Out of the awkwardness, Torin cracked wise at Uzali's expense for physically rejecting her, but Faene was hardly in the mood for talk. Mouthing "shut up" in his direction as he neared, she met his lips a little earlier than he might've intended, and melted into the placement of his hands. It took every ounce of willpower she had not to overpower his lean frame, pin him to the floor, and make the moment last a few more minutes in front of all the others, but somehow, she got through it. And before she knew it, it was ending. The pressure between them was lessening, and his body language was retreating, so she reacted the only way her subconscious would. By gently biting his lower lip as he pulled away, just for long enough that it'd be noticed. Faene was left with warm cheeks, as well as a sense of pride for getting to take credit for Torin's following breathlessness.

"get crunk"
xiomara
While the bottle spun about the middle of the circle, Xio left for a moment for the drink table. She grabbed a plastic cup and filled it with a punch that she knew was obviously spiked. Xio wanted to have fun tonight, and fun she was going to have. Besides, if she was going to play this game, it would help to have a little something to take the edge off and loosen her up a little bit. She downed the cup quickly and refilled it again, topping it off, and brought it back to the circle where she took her place back beside Torin. Whoever had spirited the drink had done so strongly, and the taste was bitter in her throat. Xio didn’t drink often, and had a very low tolerance, so she was already feeling it by the time Torin’s spin landed on Faene.

Xio saw Torin eye the bottle as if he was considering whether or not to give it a nudge her way. But Xio wasn’t stupid. Faene was one of the most attractive humans she had seen, and not just at the academy. It would be ridiculous to pass up the opportunity of smooching the hottest girl here. Xio rolled her eyes at the pair as they locked lips- and they held on a little longer than was expected. Maybe Xio’s glare was because she was drunk, but she knew deep down it was of jealousy. But Xio had a hidden talent of suppressing her feelings and plastering a stupid grin on her face. She definitely, absolutely, for sure, did not have a small, teeny-tiny crush on her squad leader.

Xio finished her cup and went to get a refill.

When Xio came back, she was promptly greeted by the skinny end of the bottle point at her crossed legs. Uzali had gotten Xio, who’s name she had butchered, but Xio hadn’t noticed. The warmth bubbling in her stomach was getting to her head, and she began to feel blissfully fuzzy, enveloped by the drink’s effects. Uzali politely declined the kiss, and it was up to Xio to decide her dare.

Xio felt like Uzali needed a dare that would embarrass her a bit. Xio liked almost everyone, but she preferred her brother, TJ. It’s not like she didn’t like Uzali, but Xio felt a bit...intimidated by her, unintentionally. She was such a perfect princess, as though she could do nothing wrong, and Xio felt that she needed to be humbled a bit, for Xio's sake. She smirked and took a drink.

“Do the chicken dance!” Xio said, her words coming out a bit slurred. She stood up, stumbling a bit, and laughed out loud. “Come on, I’ll do it with you. Like this!”

Xio proceeded to trip over her own feet, flapping her arms out wildly like a crazed person. She giggled and collapsed onto the floor.

“Your turn! Dance, your highness!” Xio hiccupped, taking another sip once again.

After her little fiasco, she found her footing and hopped over to the center of the circle, giving the finger-print coated glass bottle a whirl. It landed on Abel, and Xio returned to her spot, folding her legs under herself in a kneeling position. She finished her third drink, and laughed at nothing in particular. Xio felt as though her head was underwater, swimming and swirling.

“Sick. I pick truth. What do you want to know?” She said, mumbling a bit.
