[Classroom 105 | Frey | Interactions: Torin Fanaa Fanaa + Xio illegallyblonde illegallyblonde ]
As soon as Frey got to the door to the classrooms, he changed form again, back to his human self. He heard Xio through his communicator, and he bit his lip as he pushed the doors open. There wasn’t anything that he could do to help TJ or Arlar or Abel. They had their own squad leaders and teammates, and Abel was a good helper, so he thought they’d be able to take care of themselves. Maybe the injuries TJ had received weren’t that bad and Xio had just been in a state of panic. She certainly sounded like she was, with how breathy her voice had been.

He quickly navigated to the classroom he was to rendezvous at, but he couldn't help but notice that the halls were eerily quiet. And incredibly empty. That made sense, considering it was still morning, but he didn't like that it was so devoid of people. It did make him more aware of all the noises he made, however, so he stepped lighter through the hallways. He approached classroom 105, then paused when he saw that the door was already ajar. He took a few cautious steps toward the door and moved closer to the wall, then peered around the door frame. He let out a breath when he saw Torin and Xio talking in the room, instead of that cat creature he had mocked earlier. That had been kind of stupid, he knew, but he didn't think it'd be too big of an issue. The cat creature had other things to do, and following after him was probably not one of it's top priorities.

Even though he didn’t think that the creature would be able to find him or his teammates, it was better to be safe than sorry. Especially since he didn’t know what the creature was or what it was capable of. He didn’t like not knowing what aliens were; it left him with a nervous feeling in his stomach that he, truthfully, was not familiar with. After all, his species were supposed to know so many different species so that they could change shape into them. It was way safer that way. But he didn’t know as much as he should, and he didn’t like that he didn’t.

He shook off the thoughts and entered the room, pressing a hand against the wall for balance when the ground shook. “What happened in dorm 2?” Frey asked Xio, walking over to his two teammates. He looked her over for any injuries, since she had an encounter with something different from what he had seen. He didn’t see anything obvious, but her hair was absolutely wild. “Has anyone seen or heard from Bluu?” He looked between Xio and Torin, then back out the open door. “Do you think we’ll be okay in this room, from whatever’s attacking us?”

"there has to be more of them"
xiomara
Xio sheathed her small knife in a concealed pocket against her hip within her suit. She hadn't realized that she had been white-knuckle gripping it since she had arrived at the rendezvous point. Torin gave her instructions to wait with him here until Bluu and Frey arrived. Unsurprisingly, Xio was frustrated with her squad leader. Xio could be a stubborn girl and had trouble with any form of authority. So, when Torin told her that she should be prioritizing her tardy teammates rather than an injured classmate, Xio was let out an exasperated huff. Xio decided it was best to leave it.
Although she wouldn't admit it, for she couldn't put her ego aside for one second, Torin was right. TJ's own squad would come for him eventually. Besides, he was left with two Arlar and Abel who was more than capable of getting him to safety. At least, she hoped.
Just then, another figure appeared- Frey, accompanied by the collapsing building shaking around them. She steadied herself by bending at the knees into a crouching position, before returning to a tense stand.
Xio replied to Frey, saying, "What happened? A tiger-bird-dinosaur-monster-thingy is what happened! It almost killed TJ! He needs help, but boss says we need to wait for Bluu." Xio jabbed a thumb toward Torin in annoyance.
"No, nothing from Bluu yet. She should be heading this way. What happened with you guys?" In the mean time, Xio decided to poke her head out of the classroom door and wave for Bluu. She should be coming down this hallway any minute if she had gotten the message, which she would have. Xio wasn't worried much for Bluu- if there was anyone to worry about, it definitely wasn't her. Bluu was possible one of the most capable and efficient out of all of them- certainly more than Xio herself (again, she would never admit this). Frey asked to no one in particular whether or not they would be safe from those creatures staying here in the classroom.
Xio responded, "No, I don't think so. That feline that attacked my dorm was ruthless. We need to evacuate everyone and find whoever's behind this- and I don't think that thing was alone. There has to be more of them- of things like him."

Dr. Xenos was silently watching from within the shadows of the halls as he trailed the remaining gold squad member to her rendezvous point. Given that the doctor was a former student, the masked man knew full well of the ins and outs of the academy, making his infiltration an effortless task.

The gold squad radiated relief as Bluu made her appearance, it was a shame that their reunion would be interrupted. Believing that now was as good a time as any, he made himself known, and by his side Ravud and Ameth. The atmosphere changed instantly, the students were immediately on the defense. Xenos knew that removing Bluu and Torin from the scene was the best approach, but first, he needed to catch his prey. Casting a state-of-the-art net in Frey’s direction, he watched with glee as the boy was forced to the floor.

A magnet, similar to the one he used on Kemel, was launched at a nearby wall, as it activated the device and attracted Torin’s robotic limb. Instantaneously, the squad leader's prosthetic arm was completely severed due to the powerful magnetic force. Wires and static flew from the young males now detached shoulder and the arm flung across the room.

The squad leader whipped his head around, having been completely caught off guard. He immediately began to shout out commands to his team, to run and get to safety-until his commands were cut off as the doctor's creature pounced onto Torin, and within a blink of an eye, ripped out the leader’s throat. Torin’s body fell to the floor, head partially severed from his neck and dark eyes lifeless.

The remaining squad members could only look in utter shock from seeing their strong leader viciously killed before them. Dr. Xenos began to laugh lowly, his mask emitting a putrid gas from the filters. “ You poor fools, perhaps you should have been a touch quicker.” He stepped closer to the wide-eyed team, “no matter, you all shall be meeting the same fate soon enough.”

Ameth was then directed to target Bluu next, a muscular tail laced around the alien’s thin neck, Ameth constricted his tail, the sound of air escaping the young woman’s lungs, she clawed into the beast’s muscular appendage, drawing blood. Her efforts would prove to be fruitless, Bluu drew her last breath, her arms fell limp, her hands stained with the blood of the creature that had gotten the best of her.

Simultaneously Ravud charged at Xiomara, barreling the blonde into the neighboring classroom. The human reached out in a feeble attempt to stop the creature as it loomed over her. Her vision went dark shortly after.

With the pest out of the way, Xenos could focus on his future test subject. He watched as Frey shifted into a cheetah, then a bat, followed by a dog, and lastly a deer. The laugh that emitted through Xenos’ mask was heavy, it was evident that he was amused by the sight of Frey struggling. “You know my boy-” he began as he crouched down to get a better view of his specimen. “Their sacrifice was, to put it bluntly, futile.”

“My essence, my vision, my decades worth of research has to lead me to you. And you have led countless bodies to their grave.” Xenos pulled away from Frey, now standing erect, he called over Ameth and Ravud. The more robust of the two, Ravud, gripped the net between its teeth, Xenos pet the beast lovingly. Placing a hand on both of the creatures back, he let out a low whistle, in less than a second Ravud had teleported the four of them out of the academy onto a nearby street.

“Now to put an end to this chapter.” With the detonator in hand, Xenos turned to face the academy, he set off the bombs and watched as the building began to crumble, devours everyone who was still inside. This included Xan who was crushed by falling debris, as well as Tartimok and Arlar who fell into the pool, the floor beneath them caved in prior to the detonation and their lungs filled with water, they drowned before the building collapsed.

Jolting forward you are forced back into reality. You are safely positioned in a pod, the hood lifts and you look to your left and right to see other students in pods as well. Your head turns as you hear the sound of a mic being turned on.

“Welcome back, the simulation is now complete, please wait for further instructions.”

Kemel slowly rose from his pod, still slightly disorientated from the transition, he rubbed his eyes as they focused on the surroundings, either heaven looked like their sim room or he just exited a sim where they performed a bit below average. Everyone was also arising from the pods, his best guess was they also had the same fate as himself, death, or not, who can tell with this group of people? He hopped out of his pod and stretched a bit, Kemel heard the voice over the intercom, 'pLeASe AwaIT fUrTHer InstrUCTioNs' Kemel mumbled under his breath in spite. He moved his attention onto his comrades instead, "So, a simulation eh?" he continued to stretch, "Always hated simulations."

"So, hows everyone else coping?" He called out to the room, the sim left him rather unchanged, why would it? None of it was real, it was like a dream, who doesn't have bad dreams at times? He did have a small feeling in his stomach that the lecture that would come next due to his own performance wouldn't exactly be the most fun he'll be having, however, Kemel is sure he can weather the lecture, hopefully their next simulation won't go as bad as this one. Maybe next time the odds won't be so stacked against them that they were gonna lose from the very start. What did linger on his mind is how the rest of Onyx squad fell, but he decided maybe now wasn't the best time to ask that question as some of them might still be decompressing from their sim.

Xan jolted awake and took a heaving breath as the simulation ended. He hated sim training. It always felt so real. And the deaths always left him reeling, taking a small toll on his mental state. It wasn't only that that was bothering him. It was also how he'd had to face the beast in his room alone. Every one of his roommates had left him to fend for himself. He was angry and seething.

When he stepped out of his pod and saw Kemel, he immediately let out a loud growl, his mouth in a snarl and his slightly sharp canines poking out. His tail, though unflared, was swishing violently from side to side behind him. He felt he was supposed to be able to rely on his roommates and his peers. For all three of them to leave him trapped in his room with only a small knife to defend himself left him pissed.

"Bad room friends! Bad! You leaving me in the alones! In the alones with the big lizard dog! Humanses are the mean," he growled out in the direction of Kemel and Torin. His fingers flexed at his sides and he was holding back the urge to tackle Kemel to the floor and show him how he really felt about being abandoned. What made him even more angry was that the two boys didn't even look sorry. Bluu seemed to at least have the decency to look a little ashamed. He gave a final snarl to the other boys and turned around to go looking for his squad, crossing his arms and huffing.

"Squad Leader Uzali! How did pretend dreaming sleep training go for you? I was being the squished."

Abel
Abel emerged from the sim disorientated and panicked. He could still see his own arm reaching for the two, watching them fall into the pool. He was screaming, falling down after them. He remembered holding them and trying to swim, swim back up and help them but then something fell and-

Kemel's relaxed voice managed to bring him back. Right. A simulation. They were... Training. With a much more controlled sigh, he responded; "Fine, just a bit... shaken." He could never handle how real the simulations felt. He'd been in a few before, but it always managed to feel just as scary as the first time. He allowed himself a few more moments to calm before stepping off from the pod. The stark white room was a welcome sight.

After carefully putting down the pod's hood, he glanced around the room. Some of the others looked shaken as well, some had already recuperated and some looked... angry? Alarmingly, Uzali was glaring at the intercom with murderous intent in her eyes. Abel felt a twinge of worry for instructor Hawkins, but he could probably handle her. Maybe. Looking around some more, he noticed that Frey looked exceptionally pale. It made sense- not only was he human, but this was his first time in a simulation. "Hey Frey, you alright? The first time is always the hardest, don't worry." Abel gave him as much of a smile as his robotic body could allow, hoping it came across as comforting.

A few pods a way, Abel felt a surge of relief when he saw that TJ, Arlar and Xio were fine. He knew it was all just a simulation, but he couldn't help but feel worried. Mind now calmed, he leaned against his pod and waited for the instructor to give them the a-okay.

[Simulation Room | Frey | Mentions: everyone tbh >o>]
The hissing and popping of the pod lid opening up was nothing but jarring to Frey. He saw all of the other students in their pods, waking up from the simulation as well, but he felt something warm roll down his cheek. Everyone had been killed. Because of him. He felt the weight on his chest and tried to breathe, but he found that he couldn’t inhale. He knew the white walls around him. It might have been his first time in a simulation, but this was the pod room. He knew that. It had been a simulation. He knew. The academy hadn’t really exploded, and he hadn’t been captured. Everyone hadn’t actually died.

He knew that, but it felt so terribly real.

Torrin’s neck. His head, almost completely off his body. The blood from his leader's neck, pooling under him, still warm. Bluu’s eyes losing the life in them as she lost the fight against that awful cat creature. Xio being forced away before she could even do anything. It was all so fast. None of them had been prepared for the attack. That crazy man, with the horrible gas mask and the creatures, had caught them completely by surprise and… he had been useless.

It felt real. All of it. He could smell the smoke he had exhaled, and he could see death take his teammates. He could hear the explosions from the first bombs, and he had sensed the fear from everyone who had been running out of the buildings. He could still feel the net pinning him to the ground, leaving him completely useless while his teammates died. The smell of Torrin’s blood, and Bluu’s desperate whimpers as she fought for her life. The academy, blowing up, and the horrible villain saying he had caused this entire thing.

“And you have led countless bodies to their grave.”

He moved to get out of the pod, but his eyes were too blurry to see clearly, and he fell out of it instead. He hit the ground hard, but it didn’t even hurt. He felt more tears fall from his eyes, and a sob escaped him. He covered his mouth and squeezed his eyes shut, curling into a ball.

It was his fault. It was because he was here, at the academy. The mad scientist had killed everyone at the academy because of what he was, because of all of his ridiculous capabilities. His friends had died. His team had died. Uzali had died. Mars died. Faene died. Xan and TJ and Abel and Arlar died. Everyone that he knew, all of his classmates and teachers, had died. Because of him. He was the sole reason the attack had even happened. If he hadn’t been at the academy, then everyone would have been safe. He was at the academy, though, currently. What if an attack like that actually happened because of him?

Was he endangering everyone here?

He tried to steady his breathing, but he could feel the shake throughout his body. It was just a simulation. He bit his lip so as to not let out another sob. It was fake. No one is actually hurt. He thought someone said something to him, but he couldn't tell who. He thought he heard someone ask a question, how everyone was coping. The academy was still standing, and he knew that. He could feel the ground beneath him and the pod against his back. He knew that he was safe, that everyone was safe, that the academy was safe. When he looked up again, everyone would be alive, and they’d be talking about the simulation or fighting with each other about what they could have done better.

He couldn’t look up again. He couldn’t face everyone. He couldn't look at their faces and see them, and pretend like it was fine, because he had gotten them all killed.

Try as she might, Faene couldn't separate herself from her own hands. Maybe she could've, if she weren't being held together by her armor, or wasn't being weighed down by the explosive mass on her stomach, but it was all for naught. As shameful as it was, there was a point where she just hanged there, limp, hoping beyond all reason that there wouldn't be a nanosecond of excruciating pain where her organs were being turned into a big red stain. All that ferocity didn't make up for how useless she felt, stuck on the wall with her eyes closed like a little kid. At the very least, her sudden lack of dignity would only last as long as Faust could resist clicking that red button of his. "Just get it over-"

And suddenly returned her memories. She'd willingly laid into the pod, actually excited to show off her skills to the instructors. But now everything was white. Not only did she fail spectacularly, and give up all hope in front of the simulation's reviewers, but she was among the first to die. Some sinking feeling in her stomach even told her she was first. Her squad was sure to give her some nasty looks once the finished the mission. And if Abel wasn't such a weak-willed sweetheart, Faene felt like the guys might decide to just get rid of her as squad lead. She wouldn't have blamed them. In the privacy of the pod, she bided what few minutes she had left, and shed a few silent tears.

Eyes wiped and only a little puffy, no evidence of her hidden breakdown remained once she stepped out of the damned machine. Kemel and Abel were up and about, in the mood to socialize, but she couldn't have felt more differently. She just needed to face the music about her performance and go somewhere to be alone.

Tartimok could list his fears, on one hand, not being there when Uzali needed him most would have to be top two and it wasn’t number two. When he didn’t receive a response from her during the simulation, the feeling of ice being injected into his veins took over. He truly felt paralyzed. He could feel it, her impending doom, it made him breathless. Tartimok considered requesting Abel to give him the honor of letting him die with his sister so that they could reunite in Urkraeth (something akin to Valhalla).

.

.

.

.

.

Apparently this reunion in Urkraeth would have to wait. The hood to the pod popped open, TJ poked his head out briefly before laying back down again. So he wasn’t dead, neither was his sister, Arlar didn’t really save his life and he didn’t really get defeated by a freakishly scary scientific abomination. Great. “I am not the dead.” he squealed, completely ignorant to the distraught reactions from a handful of students.

TJ removed himself from the pod and was preparing to make way to Uzali when he saw her heading in the direction of the simulation control room. Tartimok wasn’t going to intervene, knowing better than to get in between his sister when she had that look in her eyes. His gaze traveled to Xio, he shouted from across the room. “Thank you, small armed human, you are weak in body, but strong in spirit!”

Arlar

Arlar was jolted out of the simulation he didn’t seem shocked or scared, just a look of annoyance remained upon his face, of course, this was a blasted simulation everything was too convenient how had he not noticed? A technopath like himself bested by machinery it was an outrage that explained what he saw when he passed out the electronics of the system. As the pod hissed open Arlar let out a particularly aggressive hiss, followed by a series of gurgles and violent clicking noises, this being his native tongue if anyone understood him they’d be shocked by the venom the small Acrezee (yes finally named his species) was spitting, much of it directed at himself for allowing such an event to occur.

Finally pulling himself out of the pod Arlar would then make his way over to Abel looking up at the android with a cute little smile his purple eyes almost glowing. “You achieved an admirable amount of quick thinking and I appreciate said quick thinking, however, you hesitated to inflict harm upon our assailant I suggest you rectify such a mindset, less it proves detrimental in the future.” Arlar’s words were a mixture of an overly wordy compliment and a warning or maybe even an insult? That was one on Arlar’s biggest problem how he spoke often came off as rude or abrasive.

Abel

Abel, now mostly calm and looking around more out of boredom than anything else, spotted Xan hissing in extremely bad English about how his 'dorm friends' had left him with a 'big lizard dog.' Dorm... Friends? As realization dawned on the android, he frowned. He would have to have a talk with Kemel later on the importance of helping his roommate. Abel considered giving the talk to Bluu and Torin as well, but decided against it. They probably weren't aware that Xan had been left behind. No, it was Kemel's responsibility to help his roommate wake up.

Deciding that lessons about the importance of helping your roommates could be done later, Abel turned his head to see TJ yelling his thanks to Xio. A smile made his way onto his face. The alien may be over enthusiastic at times, but he has a good heart. Abel also saw Fae emerge from her pod, only a few pods away from TJ's. He averted his eyes, knowing that she was probably furious at him for not showing up. The silence from the communicator still echoed in his head.

About to shake his head and clear his mind, he noticed Arlar walk up to him. The alien mentioned something about his 'quick thinking,' as well as his moment of weakness. Abel cringed internally, but gave a nod to the alien. Right. Just because it was a simulation, doesn't change the fact that he still allowed his friends to get hurt. He watched the small alien walk away, seeming satisfied with a simple nod. The android's eyes moved to the floor, now feeling significantly less relaxed and waiting the instructor to let them out. Waiting for Fae to pounce. He could already hear the disappointment and anger in Faene's voice, telling him how stupid he was for letting his own squad leader die.

He didn't know for sure that Fae had died, but even if she didn't she'll probably just talk about how he didn't show up at all. It's not that he doesn't deserve it. Sure, TJ and Arlar were injured, but that doesn't change the fact he had (probably) let her die. He could've brought them over to the gym- maybe Mars and Uzali were already there! If he'd taken the other way and headed directly to the rendezvous point, maybe he could've saved Fae from whatever unfortunate fate befell her. Maybe she wouldn't have had to go through the excruciating pain of death- a suffering that he could never comprehend. Maybe if he'd-

A metal foot was now slowly tapping on the smooth white floor. Abel was just staring down at the ground, hands in his hoodie pockets and expression anxious. Millions of 'what if' scenarios were being processed through the android's mind, all of them ending with 'but I didn't.

"death but not really"
xiomara
Xio was relieved to see Bluu burst through the door- in tact and as cool as a clam. She didn’t expect any less from the confident, cold young woman. Xio was just about to brief Bluu with the current happenings of her own dorm when another when The Doctor appeared from the hallway, accompanied by his two ferocious pets.
Xio hardly had any time to process her shock and get into a proper stance before she witnessed Torin’s limb tumbling to the linoleum with a heavy clang. She glanced over her shoulder and noticed that Frey had already gone down, entangled in a net that one would use for hunting.
Xio knew that they were in trouble- with there leader down, Bluu was certainly going to be next- she was one of the strongest of the bunch. Xio decided that she would help Frey rather than Torin. Statistically speaking, it was more likely that it would be beneficial if she helped Frey rather than Torin, who was already incapacitated. She hesitated, feeling guilty for leaving her boss behind to race over to Frey. Her hands began working quickly to untangle the boy, but her attempt was proving to be fruitless.
Tears began to form at the corner of her eyes- her hands shook with frustration. The net wouldn’t budge. She hardly had time to notice that amphibious creature, Ravud, come barreling towards her with great speed. Xio held up her hands in front of her face and was slammed into another classroom, crushed up against him. Even if she wanted to, Xio couldn’t move. Ravud stood over her, peering down at the dying girl. There wasn’t a bone in her body that hadn’t been broken. It was terrifying, staring into the buggy eyes of the creature looming over her murderously. More terrifyingly was looking over to the side and seeing the macerated throat of Torin, and Bluu’s bloodied body. Her friends were dead. She had failed them. Her cheeks were stained with shameful tears.
Thankfully, yet frighteningly, her vision darkened, and the tears subsided shortly after.
Xio’s eyes flew open, her heart and mind racing quickly. Another simulation. She always came out of these frustrated with herself- frustrated that these tests always proved to be so real. Her palms were cold and clammy.
It was liking waking up from a nightmare- it took her a moment to get a grip of her surroundings, to look over and realize that all of her friends were safe, and in just as much shock as she herself. The pods were filled with healthy humans, aliens, and androids. They were safe. She let out a breath that she didn’t realize that she had been holding.
From outside of her pod, Xio spotted a surprisingly gleeful Tartimok. He was thanking her for a feeble, yet courageous attempt at a rescue. Rather quickly, her fear subsided. Seeing TJ’s smile made her return it with her own small smile.
“Don’t mention it, your highness.” She said sarcastically, yet genuinely, returning to her usual self.

Bones were admittedly more difficult to repair than wires and metal. From the moment he was created he knew his purpose, challenging his programming was out of the question. Though don’t be fooled, he did believe is life had value, but he knew that more tears would shed over the loss of Uzali, for she had living loved ones, and he had a tombstone of a loved one that could not weep. His form shattered like cheap glass upon impact, a climactic ending honestly.

As he disconnected from the simulation pod, Mars could quite literally read the room, excluding his kinfolk, who had no vitals to begin with. Decreased levels of serotonin. Increased heart rate. Influx of hypertension. Mars deduced that relaying this information would prove to be unavailing.

Now separating himself from the pod, Mars stood upright, patiently standing by for what was to come.

Everyone -> Xan -ferret- -ferret- -> Al Hawkins

The pod encasing the alien princess opened slowly and a light, misty steam rolled out from the capsule. Uzali stepped from the pod with light, but steady feet. Anyone who may be looking at her, would be able to see clear annoyance in her features. She looked around the simulation room, seeing her fellow classmates exit from their pods, either looking very perturbed from what just transpired or some were even breaking down onto the floor. Uzali may not be from Earth, and did not understand the constant emotions that the earthlings displayed; but she did understand what fear and torment was like. And that, that was pure torture if she could ever describe. Having to witness her own teammate sacrifice his life for her, despite being artificially engineered, was still too much for her to bear. Not too mention the lives of those she was certain had ‘perished’ in the simulation as well.

Her ice blue eyes sought out the controller of the simulation, and within a second locked her eyes on the dark haired instructor who was standing across the room, talking with a few of the students. She narrowed her eyes, and some of her alien markings began to show on her face. As she prepared to stomp over to the instructor robot, her attention was taken away by the sound of someone familiar shouting her name.

Halting in her rampage, Uzali blinked and turned around just as she came face to face with her squad mate Xan. Her Zatyrian markings began to slowly fade from her body, but were still slightly apparent. “ Ah, Xan, you must be meaning the simulation, yes?” The alien blinked her naturally fluffy white lashes. “ I am not...how do I say?? The emotion of ‘happiness’ is not who I am right now. Excuse Uzali, I must speak to the controller of this test.” Uzali gave her colorful subordinate a pat on his cheek before resuming her trek straight over to Professor Al Hawkins. Out of the corner of her eye, she could also make out the shaken, curled up form of her kind English human, Frey on the floor, and that only served to make the alien madder.

The severely pissed off Zatyrian princess stalked up to the robotic instructor, who was currently speaking with a couple of the students. Upon Uzali’s silent, yet menacing radiating presence making itself known, the other students quickly said their goodbyes to the professor and quickly walked away. Seemingly surprised at the students sudden departure, the instructor then noticed Uzali’s presence lingering behind him and turned to face her with an easy going smile.

Uzali refrained from letting out a primal alien hiss at the robotic male, remembering that this was not her planet and she shouldn’t expose herself for something like this. Despite how upset she may be. The princess did, however, glare up at the raven haired professor, and made sure her tone was a clear and pronounced as possible. “ Instructor Hawkins, that simulation was not the good. I mean...it is the unexceptable. For what are the reasonings you did such thing? You are being pleased with torture of students, yes?” Her speech had attracted the attention of some students, who began to watch but she did not pay any mind, she wanted answers.

Once all the appropriate parameters were in place, the simulation itself didn’t need adjusting, for this simulation it was based on an individual's subconscious, meaning it randomly selected a student, the unfortunate victim being Frey, and created a scenario base off of that particular student's fears. While the simulation did pull fears from other students' subconscious as well, the primary focus was always one student.

As the students dispersed he felt a hostile presence approach, turning with a polite smile painted across his features he greeted the young woman. “Hello, Uzali.” He allowed her to speak freely, understanding that with simulations, came an array of reactions, if she thought she was the first student to address him like this she’d be pleasantly surprised. “You’re upset, understandably so, however,” the android paused, his hand dancing in the air as he made a digital form appear at eye level, “As you can see you signed a consent, giving us permission to place you in this simulation, it outlines a wide range of possibilities, I implore you to carefully read forms before signing.” he suggested.

With both hands now situated behind his back, he continued. “Prior to my career as an instructor, the school didn’t believe funding a simulation room would be beneficial, this resulted in eighty-three deaths due to what the academy dubbed as incompetence when in actuality it was simply ill-prepared students charging into missions thinking they’d win every battle.” This was a spiel he grew tired of repeating. “In order to decrease fatalities, the school finally agreed to build a simulation room, allowing students to face traumatic events and fail in a controlled environment, as well as offer counseling to those who require it. This resulted in mission success rates to go from 73.53% to 90.78%. We traumatize you here so you won’t have to be traumatized out there where real lives are at stake and a mistake, like entering an elevator during a catastrophic event, will cost you your life or someone else’s life. This is a high-stress position, and we will not coddle you, you attend this academy voluntarily.” a sigh passed through his lips, his posture becoming more relaxed.

“The truth of the matter is, many of you aren’t prepared for higher-ranked missions.” This was the harsh reality of the matter. “The fact that you are more concerned with releasing your anger at me than you are learning what you could do to improve in regards to future missions speaks volumes. You are still making the same mistakes over and over again. Your behavior is not only an insult to yourself, but to all the instructors that vouched for your candidacy as team lead, including myself. Now I suggest you thoroughly contemplate your next set of words and actions Ms. Altovar.”

Emerging from the pod Torin placed his feet firmly on the floor, he took in how everyone was handling what had occurred during the simulation, one particular individual had caught his eye, Frey, who was curled up like a wounded fucking puppy. Looking at him in such as state was nauseating and he was repulsed to say the least. Though he had no way of knowing for sure, he had an inkling that his death out of the four was the most severe.

It wasn’t the way he did, or even the fact that he did die, no, Torin was more upset that he died before his team. It was for lack of better words, total bullshit. He saw himself as the most qualified out of the four, hence the title squad lead. His next thoughts circled around how Dr. Faust got the best of him, his pathetic excuse of an arm. It would need to be modified. Immediately. One without a magnetic force.

With the feeling of being a failure finally settling in, Torin could not bear to be in the presence of Frey. His squamate's handling of the simulation was embarrassing to watch. Not bothering to sit and wait for what was to come Torin left the simulation room, but not before giving Frey one last distasteful glare.

The instructors were deliberating privately in a sectioned off room from where the simulation pods were, leaving Professor Hawkins to supervise the recovering students. Once all students have exited their pods and retained their senses, they were then all called to the evaluation room to receive their results.

This scoring was based on levels of aptitude in critical thinking, practical applications and solutions, and use of abilities and concepts.

(Results were assessed and done in no particular order, as well as based on the observations from different instructors)

STUDENT NAME: ARLARZARKORAN NEKCARIZ
SIMULATION RESULT: PASS
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
“Despite being among the more difficult students to work with, student Nekcariz displayed a relatively calm attitude during a high intense situation. They did not abandon their dorm mates, who were in need of help. They also, though not overall necessary to pass, slew the creature sent by Dr. Xenos Faust. Their ability to keep a level head during this simulation is what has qualified them to pass.”

STUDENT NAME: ANATENAXANTI RYONINTU
SIMULATION RESULTS: PASS
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
"While a handful of instructors were extremely displeased with the contraband, due to this sort of conduct being prohibited and clearly outlined in the student handbook, Anatenaxanti displayed quick-thinking skills when evading Faust's abomination. The fact that he was abandoned did not pose to be a hindrance and he was able to accomplish his goal. Passed."

STUDENT NAME: UNIT-105-368-76AB A.K.A ABEL
SIMULATION RESULT: PASS
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
“This unit displayed a remarkable attitude during this simulation, making sure that his fellow dorm mates were safe and taken care of. Extra points were added to his scoring for also following procedures of helping other students to evacuate in the halls. Despite the unit’s failure to subdue the enemy target, and wear his protective gear before engaging in battle, the overall importance of not leaving someone in trouble behind is what has qualified him to pass.”

STUDENT NAME: TARTIMOK ALTOVAR
SIMULATION RESULTS: FAIL
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
"Proof that strength alone will get a student at this academy nowhere, Tartimok foolishly attempted and failed miserably to attack an unidentified creature instead of taking time to assess and plan as he has been instructed to do many times. His hotheaded nature resulted in the injury of a fellow student. Several instructors believe him to be nothing but a liability to his roommates. Failed. Horribly."

STUDENT NAME: XIOMARA NIRI
SIMULATION RESULT: PASS
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
“We graded Ms. Niri based on her quick reactionary skills during a stressful situation as well as her genuine display of concern for her dorm mates, as well as her teammates. Despite being faced with the difficult decision to follow her team lead’s orders or stay and help her dorm mates, Ms. Niri chose the best possible method that would help the wounded, while still trying to follow commands. Her quick thinking and show of no hesitancy are what has allowed her to pass this simulation.”

STUDENT NAME: LADY AERYN XERXES
SIMULATION RESULTS: FAIL
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
"Ms. Xerxes did not think to check for sleeping roommates. The lack of attention and communication towards her fellow peers is a problem that could have detrimental effects on future missions. Ms. Xerxes also did not bother to check for any harmed students nor helped in evacuation procedures, though the poor leadership of Mr. Nox could also be to blame for that. We hope she can handle that on her conscience. Failed."

STUDENT NAME: TORIN NOX
SIMULATION RESULT: FAIL
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
“Mr. Nox has proven himself on countless occasions to be an exemplary student within the academy. His natural leadership qualities are quite remarkable and useful in these high-risk situations. However, Mr. Nox continues to lack empathy towards others in these dangerous situations, ignoring calls for help from fellow peers, as well as disregarding his teammate’s pleas for assistance. He did not follow the proper protocol during the simulation, nor did he attempt to devise a plan to help the situation. In short, Mr. Nox has failed due to the training simulation due to his lack of care towards his fellow peers, and only following his personal interests instead of what would have helped his team succeed, resulting in their unfortunate deaths.”

STUDENT NAME: KHMELNYTSKY SERHIY
SIMULATION RESULTS: FAIL
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
"Heavy artillery weapons are strictly forbidden from being stored in the dorm room, they must be stored in the school’s armory. Though it is noted that he followed up on the well being of his dorm mates, his desire to please his team lead rather than assess his environment and provide aid to those that could have needed his assistance is extremely frowned upon, Onyx Squad members are the most common responders to search and rescue scenarios. Kemel has shown that he has yet to grasp the core concepts of his squad despite having experience in simulations. Failed."

STUDENT NAME: FAENE AZARIAH
SIMULATION RESULT: FAILED
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
“Ms. Azariah is a strong, and resilient leader of the Onyx Squad. Her natural skills and abilities have proven to be a force to be reckoned with, but what Ms. Faene has continued to show a lack of improvement in, is her tactfulness and restraint in these high-risk level simulations. She continues to approach the problems presented without proper critical thinking and care, this same issue can be singled out in a majority of her squadmates, making the instructors wonder if her leadership capabilities are up to par. Had she used better critical thinking skills, and assessment, she perhaps could have succeeded in the mission at a higher average. It is also to be noted that she abandoned her dorm mates without first checking on their statuses and providing any help. Due to this, Ms. Azariah has received a fail.”

STUDENT NAME: MEDICAL ASSISTING ROBOT SYSTEM
SIMULATION RESULTS: PASS
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
"The medical droid's assessment skills at the initiation of the mission were admirable. Unfortunately, he displayed poor judgment by following his team lead blindly, he must keep in mind that a team leads' purpose is to guide, not to dictate and that their words are not commandments. In the end, his self-sacrifice while in the elevator earned him points back. Even though it resulted in him dying to save his incompetent leader. Passed.

STUDENT NAME: UZALI VOVINA ALTOVAR
SIMULATION RESULTS: FAIL
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
"All of the instructors had high hopes for Ms. Altovar, given the influx of recommendations for her to be the predecessor of the Platinum Squad. Unfortunately, she has disappointed the majority. As a senior member Uzali has proven that seniority does not equate to competency. Due to her poor judgment, she sent herself as well as her teammate to their untimely demise. With all her knowledge of technology, she did not think to assess the hazard of taking the elevator and ignored her teammate’s clear warning. Failed."

STUDENT NAME: FREY BARDOT
SIMULATION RESULTS: FAIL
INSTRUCTOR COMMENTARY:
“Mr. Bardot was dealt with a peculiar situation that in most cases, some, if not all, would be guaranteed to fail. Mr. Badot did display a genuine show of concern for his peers, even going as far as to check in on some students along the way of him heading to the rendezvous point as instructed by his Gold Squad leader. However, Frey also did not follow the procedures of evacuation and even still left his peers to fend for themselves from one of the simulation hybrids. We’ve assessed that Mr. Bardot still has a long way to go in displaying the necessary confidence, leadership, and steadfastness needed in these practical situations. It is recommended that he up his physical and stealth training as applicable if he remains within the Gold Squad. After further discussions, we have decided to deem Mr. Bardot’s performance failure.

Kemel didn't take much notice to Xan's remark, grief, especially of yourself makes you a bit agitated. While he was waiting for the test evaluations to be completed he continued to stretch, believe it or not being concealed in a rather tight pod for any amount of time tightens up your muscles, he was getting a feel of what it was to feel alive again, or real, either or. Kemel also noticed everyone seemed to be either really sad or upset, but why? It's only a sim, a training session, everyone's meant to mess up so when its a real mission they learn and don't mess up. Maybe it was just the group processing potential death, but even then, has no one before thought about their squad mates' deaths? Or was that a Kemel exclusive feeling.

Alas, evaluations were complete and it was Kemel's turn to read his,

When Kemel was reading through the report he was more confused then upset about the fail, why were Heavy artillery weapons prohibited from being located in dorm rooms? And why was he deducted points or whatever, to Kemel's understanding Onyx squad was the squad of soldiers, didn't soldiers follow orders? If he didn't follow orders in training sims how sure would the instructors be about him following orders in the field. If squad leader orders aren't meant to be followed, then they should be suggestions, his evaluation didn't bother Kemel too much. He learnt to be his own soldier and put squad leader's orders as a second, but also help out other squads? The evaluation was confusing, he wouldn't mind to see the criteria.

As Kemel left the evaluation room his demeanour didn't change much, he was still rather upbeat, it'll take a lot more then some words to bring him down. He kept striding out of the room, down the halls until he eventually made it to the school gym, it was a good place to work on yourself and decompress. Usually he was alone when he worked out, he doesn't recall anyone coming to the gym whilst he was there, but maybe he just went at odd hours.

As he entered the doors of the gym he went immediately to the treadmills, it was a good place to start, not too demanding and it let him think.

UNIT-105-368-76AB
Abel
'SIMULATION RESULT: PASS'

... Pass? Abel simply stared at his results. Pass... For not leaving anyone behind? He understood the criticisms, and he would definitely have to work on that, but-

A pass? For doing what anyone would've done in his situation? He was sure Xio got a pass too then, for helping TJ. He couldn't help but smile. She deserved it- she managed to keep away the beast while he was still distracted. But him, on the other hand- he'd let the beast get away. He let Arlar get hurt, just because he was afraid. He let Fae [probably] die.

So he looked up, and asked the instructors in a hesitant voice; "Did Faene die? If yes, how? Could I have... helped in any way?"

Location: Eval. Room. Interacting with instructors Fanaa Fanaa

[Dorm 1, his room | Frey | Interactions: Instructors Fanaa Fanaa Mentions: Uzali, Torin, Kemel, Al, Xio, Abel ]TL,DR: Basically Frey's thinking and reflecting and analyzing, then he sends a lengthy email to the instructors.

After falling apart on the floor in the simulation room for a solid two minutes, Frey managed to convince himself that it’d be okay to look at everyone else, just a little. He told himself, while he was crying, that they all didn’t know that he was the reason they all had died in the simulation. Logic told him that. They couldn’t have known, since the only people who had been around him at the time had been his squadmates, and they had all died or been forced away before he had even been teleported out of the academy. That feeling wasn’t very pleasant, but he knew he should be grateful that his secret hadn’t been exposed, at the very least. And that everyone wasn’t actually dead. That everything had been a simulation, that everything had been fake.

So, after he had logic’d his way to a better mood, he realized it probably made no sense to everyone in the room why he was sobbing on the ground. Curled in a ball. Yes, it was his first time in a sim, but he thought he was better than that. He hadn’t even died, which was more than could be said for everyone in the room. Nah, he didn’t die. He just got everyone killed. That was totally better.

His own thought made him laugh, and he wiped away his tears and rubbed at his nose, feeling rather embarrassed. He had been the only one having a complete breakdown, and he wanted to not stick out like a sore thumb. He watched as Uzali stomped over to Mr. Hawkins, and he couldn’t help but smile when she asked if he liked to torture students. Seeing her angry over the simulation made the heavy feeling in his chest lighten, and he looked around slowly to see how everyone else was doing. Xio was smiling at TJ, and Kemel was acting nonchalant about the entire thing. That wasn’t surprising, at all. Frey remembered hearing someone ask if he was okay and looked toward Abel, then gave him a smile, waving to let the android know he’d be alright.

Because he felt like he actually would be. It was all fake, and it had been a practice run. His secret hadn’t been exposed, and he saw Torin’s form leave the room. His head was still on his body. Yeah, everyone was fine. He’d just learn from what happened and be better. He wanted to help people, and he hadn’t done that, at all. Hopefully the evals from the instructors would tell him what to do better.
------
And now he was back in his dorm room, staring at the evaluation that the teachers had emailed him. He was, admittedly, still shaken up after the simulation, so he had decided to recover in his room. Wrapped in a warm blanket, with a cup of hot tea, to try to calm down. He felt annoyed with himself that he had left everyone in the simulation room so quickly, but he was still unsure about how to face them all. He still felt bad, no, guilty, that the entire simulation had played out how it had, and he was wondering if he actually wanted to stay at the academy after everything that had happened.

He never had thought a scenario like that could occur. It was eye opening. He didn’t want to put anyone at the academy in danger, and if his presence at the school could lead them to any kind of situation like that… He wouldn’t be able to live with himself. So much blood would be on his hands. He tried to shake off the impending doom that that thought brought along, and instead he read the email he’d received again.

It is recommended that he up his physical and stealth training as applicable if he remains within the Gold Squad. After further discussions, we have decided to deem Mr. Bardot’s performance a failure.”

He didn’t follow procedures of evacuation, which Frey thought was rather dumb. If there was a better way to leave the building that was crumbling, wouldn’t it make sense to do that? Probably not as safe or secure, granted, but he had thought his thinking had been quick. Except it didn’t really help anyone else, like the evaluation said. He agreed with the majority of what the instructors had noted down about the rest of his performance, because he was aware that he wasn’t very brave. He had run away from the hybrid cat creature, but it was what his species had always done.

It was what he knew, and it was how he had survived when he first came to the verdurous planet. Run away. Hide. Change form. Adapt. Don’t risk it. Don’t get hurt, or captured, or lost. Find safety, but leave the instant something becomes unsafe. It was how his species managed to stay alive. A situation had presented itself that made him feel unsafe. The thought of someone capturing him to be experimented on made him feel pale, and the hair on the back of his neck tingled. His friends being hurt because of him made him feel completely horrible. If that actually happened, he might have to leave the academy. He still actually might.

But that would be him just running away again, wouldn’t it?

He sighed and set his phone on his bed, then leaned against the wall, sipping on his tea. He was quite different, now, from how his species was normally. He thought. He was too human. He loved his family and the friends that he had outside of the academy. He had found safety on the planet, with them. He had found a home. He was losing what made him what he was. If he was becoming too human, though, then maybe he could accept it. Maybe he could try to be braver. He’d rely more on his teammates, and he’d use the armor’s stealth capabilities. He wasn’t the strongest person, but he’d been wanting to exercise more. Maybe he’d ask Uzali if she ever wanted to train with him, or he’d drag Abel along to help him out.

He finished his tea quickly and set the empty mug on his comforter, then grabbed his phone again and typed a reply to the instructor who had emailed him.

The simulation sucked, plain and simple. Sorry, but not that sorry. Thanks for the feedback though. It’s been read through multiple times and I agree with most of it. I do have a couple of questions, however: in certain situations, would it not be more important to find a quicker escape route? If, say, for example, a fire has started, and no authorities were notified, but people were inhaling too much smoke and passing out from smoke inhalation. Would it not be a better plan to escape however I could to find someone to assist? Or would you rather me help out the students who have passed out? Risking their lives, because I am not equipped to handle medical emergencies like that, and because I also do not know how to put out flames. Also, my species are pacifists, which means that I disagree severely with harming things. I will if I’m forced to, but I would much rather handle any aggressive situations differently. Do you suggest I serve as a distraction? I chose the gold squad because I really don’t know how to fight. What else could I do, besides be a distraction? I don’t really want to be bait in every situation. Thanks for reading, and thanks for having me be the lone survivor of the simulation. Your student, Frey Bardot.

He sent the email, then let his phone fall from his hand and land on the bed. It clinked against his mug, but he just sighed and wrapped the blanket even further around himself.

What a dreary day.

Faene could've taken five minutes and predicted what her evaluation would sound like and been almost perfectly accurate. Every syllable felt like a blow she had already taken, and was hence numb to... But it didn't stop it from hurting in the moment, regardless. Right then, she swore she'd take the harsh critiques to heart, but that was easier said than done. She, like the rest of Onyx Squad were creatures of passion. And while that was perfect for a little ragtag group storming a keep, it wasn't a particularly good quality in a leader. She was headstrong, determined - just not much of a tactician.

Worse yet was the big lug asking the instructor if her failure was somehow his fault. Why couldn't Abel just be a giant metal killing machine? It made Faene yearn for the good old days, when fighting bots didn't tug at the heartstrings. Even so, she couldn't just let him go blaming himself for what was clearly her fault. Moving to his side, she threw a punch into Abel's heavily armored flank to get his attention that would've injured anything organic. "Hey, none of that, Abe. My mistakes were mine. The second you start beating yourself up about something that's my problem, I beat you up for real." She tried making it sound more comforting by half-smiling, but retreated before it got awkward and left the simulation room.

~

The long walk back up to the academy's highest floors was concluded with Faene pulling out a yellow legal pad from her nightstand drawer. Her linked rings proved to be less than convenient in the simulation, preventing her from slipping her fingers free. There was no trade-off for their compact design if they would potentially leave her trapped. And so, she took a stab at doodling something more practical. Something that could be easily shed, like a pair of gauntlets. Excited to put the simulation's results behind her, Faene got to drawing.

Abel watched Fae leave the room, a smile on his face. While he could've done without the punching and the threats, it was still incredibly sweet of her. Perhaps his initial fear of her was misguided. With a small bow to the instructors, he left the room with a much more happy expression.

Lingering outside the simulation room, he decided to head to the greenhouse and think about how he could improve himself.

-

The walk wasn't that far, not to him at least. Plus he had some time to think on the way. First was his hesitance to harm other beings. Definitely the more difficult of the two problems. He knew he was extremely durable, and could probably take down anyone if he tried. But it just felt wrong- unfair even. When he was punched, it didn't hurt. But if he were to punch someone else, they were sure to feel extreme agony. He couldn't hit something in good conscience, knowing it felt such pain. He was sure it was unbearable.

Abel frowned, stopping at the entrance to the greenhouse. Yes, this was definitely going to be difficult. Maybe he should try to ask one of the others how they can fight so easily- without worrying about causing their opponent severe pain. With a sigh, he pushed open the greenhouse doors and greeted some of the other students there. Some replied back, some still shied away. But he paid them no heed. The comforting green hues that now surrounded him already calmed his mind somewhat.

He checked one of the middle shelves and smiled when he saw his group of lithops were growing well. He already had one in his dorm room, and was glad that the rest were doing well. He was happy to see that some had already been taken, and he hoped that whoever had them felt the same joy in raising them as he did. Picking up a watering can, he stepped outside to the communal garden and began checking if the soil was too dry. Some students joked that he cared for that garden like a child, and they weren't exactly wrong. He's watched these plants grow since the first day he arrived, and felt a sort of connection with them.

Sometimes he'd just sit here and watch them. Sometimes other people would join him. In the garden, he was at peace. And that was all that mattered.

"BLUU"
Location:
Pod Room --> Training Room (Gym)
Mentions: Xan, Frey, Torin, Xio, Kemel, and Uzali (No direct interaction.)

That Bluu was most definitely not pleased was an understatement of epic proportions.

In fact, the surging, mounting displeasure was the first thing the female became truly conscious of after recalling her own last feeble gurgles for breath while she dangled from that creatures grip, her claws and training both rendered ineffective to the point of utter uselessness. Her mind churned restlessly in the darkness of her pod while a potent mixture of confusion, anger, and shame burned like acid in her gut. She had failed.

Weakness had done it. Sheer weakness had gotten the better of her. It didn't come as a surprise--no one was better versed in Bluu's own shortcomings than she herself--but to have such things exploited so flawlessly, so thoroughly that she'd sensed her own offness even within the sim... that was simply unacceptable. Even moreso since she had none to blame but herself.

Shaken as she was, Bluu dared not let even a hint of it through this time. As her pod finally opened, her features were set in her usual haughty expression, one that bordered on straight up bored. It might have been considered a near perfect poker face if ever there was one--except for the fact that she found her mask... softening.

If you asked her, Xan was naught but a peculiar male with whom she shared a dorm. They were far from friends, and while her dealings with him had taught her some things through simple observation, the male quite plainly continued to confound her. Now was no different, especially as his yelled words struck her with a realization that only made the boiling in her gut worsen. It was true that he'd assumed everyone capable of taking care of themselves but there could be no mistaking that she had not even spared a thought for Xan or his wellbeing during the simulation. He was not a relation, not a teammate, not a charge... Yet, belatedly, she became aware that these truths may not absolve her of wrong doing... Unfortunately the 'whys' were what still eluded her.

A crinkle appeared between her occasionally expressive brows as she mulled this over, her form moving with silent grace to exit her pod. Said crinkle only became deeper still when she stood upon her own two feet only to become aware of the human called Frey. He was perhaps the closest thing she had to a sometimes friendly acquaintance among the crew, and she truly harbored him no ill will, but at present it was his lack of composure rather than his intelligence or tendency toward helpful amicability that snared her. Annoyingly, a feeling that was entirely (for lack of a better word) alien to her began prickling along her nerves as if intending to prod her into action. Had she not caught herself she might have gone to the poor male, though the instant she became aware of such a ridiculous intention she'd quite purposely withdrew into herself.

Going still, only the unconscious flickering of her inner eyelid (a clear membrane beneath the more human looking eyelids she has) betrayed that she was anything more than bored and ready to be done with the exercise. Even the small wrinkle between her brows had smoothed. Yes, her singular gaze flicked to Torin, and even then Xio briefly before landing on Kemel and finally Uzali but the momentary assessments transpired so quickly that there was nothing much to make of it. Not even to herself. Though she did find she was slightly intrigued by the colorful female's er... boldness with regard to their instructors.

Still none of this could hold up to Bluu's inner turmoil. So much so that the scaled female only paid a cursory amount of attention to her evaluation when presented to her. She did note it's similarity to her own assessment ,though it was perhaps more precise in noting her failures. Perhaps softer even? No mention was made of the delay that had befallen her due to her own... quirk but that particular detail she understood without outside input so maybe it wasn't necessary to state it. No, rather it was all the other stuff that was weighing on her as she quite simply failed to understand the importance of, well, anything...

There was no need to linger. No need to put herself through more than was necessary considering others had already dismissed themselves and the remaining few seemed to be processing everything at their own speed. With what might have sounded like a huff the serpentine female turned on dime and strode from the pod room with long but swift steps. She did not look elsewhere but instead kept her eye trained straight ahead but anyone who knew of her even the slightest bit would know she would be off to train, to lay into both her body and mind until she was either exhausted or better understood what it was she lacked. If she was lucky it would be both.

Kemel wasn't far into his decompression type workout when the gym doors opened to let someone else in. He glanced over to have a look at who entered, it was Bluu, he didn't think she even noticed him as she seemed to just auto pilot over to the equipment and start listening to music without a word, his personal assessment made him believe she probably didn't like her evaluation, that seemed to be the atmosphere for this place currently. Kemel was still jogging on the treadmill as he had a little debate in his head if he should just give her space or see if he could obtain a gym buddy, as he usually came alone at hours of the day others would seem unreasonable.

He decided on approaching her, whats the worst that could happen? Kemel slowed the treadmill till it was to a crawl, the machine eventually stopping, with most of this high-tec equipment it started giving him a session overview, he mostly ignored it and skipped it, the information was never anything useful. He hopped off and made his way to where Bluu was training, hoping she would see him coming before he announced himself, "Hey, Bluu," If she didn't see him coming before she'd definitely be aware of his presence now, "I was wondering, since I don't see many other people use these facilities often that maybe we could buddy up as gym buddies or something." He was rather straightforward with his request.

the future isn't always bright

It has now been a week since the training simulation was conducted. The students who participated in the simulation have been slowly, but surely recovering from the jarring after-effects of the virtual reality.
