Profile instructions
The following is the basic profile layout for Witness. It consists of:

• (Optional) A faceclaim, illustrated. Ignore the placeholder size, the bbcode will automatically restrict the width of the image.
• The character's first and last name in a header
• General information section that includes the character's full name, age, gender, occupation, and a written description of their appearance.
• Personal information section that includes the character's personality, their ambitions in life, and their backstory.
• Parasite section that will be supplied by the GM when a player character becomes infected.

Players that are confident in their BBcode skills are invited to make minor tweaks to the layout, such as changing font faces and color schemes to suit their character, or swapping tabs for accordions. However, the content must remain no more than 600px wide.

Players that are not confident in their BBcode skills are invited to send me their character profile as plain text, and I will be more than happy to format it for them.

Character creation rules

Remember that this is a seemingly normal modern day setting. There is no precedent for aliens to exist in this setting, unless your character is into that kind of stuff. This story also takes place in Orlando, FL, so you are going to need to have some sort of reason that your character would be near the crash site, if they don't live in the area.

Outside of that... well, it's a pretty normal setting, so I don't really have that many additional rules. What could go wrong?

She has a thin but slightly muscular body (thanks to her personal trainer and dietitian). Her breasts are B32 and she's got even, dark olive - toned skin. On her side is a tattoo of a bird, which she got for her 17th birthday.

  Ella is what you would call a polite snob. She will think shit about you, maybe even talk shit about you, but to your face she is going to be the nicest person you have ever met. She will charm you with her charismatic smile and great personality, and then, when you least expect it, there will be a rumor about how you're the biggest piece of trash on the block, and that your parents are poor. Yes, she is that kind of person. She is honest and real with very few people, not even all her friends knowing how she really is. It's a sort of defense mechanism for her. If you don't let people know you, you can make up someone else and then when they find out you actually hate them you can throw them away like the person you pretended to be. It's really all very, very fucked up.
  
  Ambition
  Ella wants to live in a mansion with a husband who is rich and she can live happily ever after with her 3 kids. (Two girls and a boy, if you're wondering.) Her one main objective in this is to be a good mother, what her's wasn't.
  
  History
  Ella was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and has always gotten what she wanted in life, be that through her parents money or her own skills of influence. She has not gotten anything through her own hard work and effort. Her parents never did much of the whole "parenting" thing, and she was raised by multiple nannies over the years. She never had enough time to get close to any of them, her parents firing them for one thing or another before she got a chance. Usually it was because they weren't "good enough" for their "darling daughter." She rarely ever saw her parents in her early years. They liked to go out on the town, and she was left home alone at night most nights. During the day her parents would work and her mothers would sleep. Ella was convinced her mother had a drinking problem, which turned out to be true when Ella turned 11 and her mother got so drunk that she ate the cake before it was time, and then vomited in the sink in front of all of Ella's friends. So, you could say that Ella might hold a bit of a grudge toward her mother.
  
  Fortunately she was able to have close relationships through the friends she made at the private school she attended, which she absolutely loathed . Ella is an excellent student, and she always got straight A's (thanks to tutors) but the pressure of the standard her work had to be at was overwhelming. When/if her parents spoke to her it was almost always about her grades and if they were good enough. This made Charlotte hate school. and frankly, she isn't even all that interested in attending college anymore.
  
  Now it's her senior year, and she''s brought all her friends to a beach house in Orlando. Paid entirely by her parents, of course. (Including the booze and weed, not that they know that is where their money has gone to.)

  Tristan is a relatively tall man with long blonde hair often pulled back for his job or left loose when he is able to neglect looking "tidy." When at work he wears a button-up white or pale blue shirt, simple slacks, and a belt. No matter the weather (even in Orlando) he is required to have long sleeves so while he is in the building. When lounging at home or doing anything that doesn't require a specific set of attire, he prefers T-shirts with snarky sayings, jeans, and a heavy black coat when needed [pictured]. Tristan has has some muscle as he tries to spend an hour at the gym daily (simply to keep in shape). Striking pale blue eyes make are his most remarkable feature and he would be more fond of them if he didn't possess poor vision; he wears contacts accordingly. Strange, decorative black tattoos wind up his right arm- a result of a night of drinking excessively, trying to please some of his peers at a nightclub, and attempting to be "cool."
  
• Personality
  Tristan is even-tempered, calm, and logical, falling prey to anger very rarely. He knows what he wants in life and he's not afraid to assert himself to get it. When motivated he can put aside his callous sense of humor and be thoroughly charming to convince others to join his cause. What has has a hard time doing, however, is compromising with anyone that is not a close friend or family. The more important the event or choice, the more likely he is to simply wander off on his own and do what he wants to do. Certainly he'll try to convince them, but only until he decides that it's no longer worth the effort to have someone else's company or approval. Tristan is extremely private, but is deeply loyal and empathetic to those he allows close. He views himself as an emotional "rock" on which others might rest their troubles.
  
  Ambition
  To save up enough money to travel and see more of the world than damn Orlando, Florida.
  
  History
  Tristan was the first of three children of Mary and Sebastian Muller. His twin sisters, Joselyn and Jacqueline (who are not identical despite the appalling twin names) were born four years after him. Because both of his parents had to work to support their household, he helped raise, babysit, and tend to his sisters. When Mom was serving tables and Dad was managing a construction site, he stood at their bus stop, helped them with homework, and tried to not be bitter about being a half-parent. As they got older this strange relationship gave way to bickering about Tristan being "too authoritative" with his siblings and them being "too disrespectful" to him. Tristan became more involved with his peers at school, spending more time away from home, and leaving his (more grown) sisters to their own devices.
  
  After graduating high school, Tristan knew and realized his parents couldn't afford to send him college. Though he had the aptitude for it, he didn't want to be driven into debt and instead applied for more menial jobs. He landed a job first as a host for a restaurant and then at the Orange County Clerk of Court, where he has now worked for eight (8) years. Tristan moved out of his parent's home at 19 to live with friends, and rented apartments with various roommates for varying lengths of time until he became Taylor's roommate a year ago. While his job has been unchanging, his social life went from a more wild ride to settling down; instead of drinking himself into a stupor and dancing half the night away he now spends free time watching N etflix and reading books.

  Alias Origin: As in "Et tu, Brutus" because Ettu is similar to Taylor and Art, which makes Tristan allege he is 'ganged up on' and also as in "ET 2" with Art being the first extra-terrestrial
  
  Personality: While others are mired in practicality, Ettu is a creature who dreams incessantly not just about wondrous things he'd like to do and achieve in the future, but the present as well. What others would call obstacles he calls challenges if he pays them any mind at all. He is constantly dashing from one experience to the other and treating life as one large, beautiful party. It's difficult at best for him to understand someone like Tristan who is about control and logistics all the time. If childhood whimsy could be personified, Ettu might be it.
  
  Power: Ettu, known as "The Seer" by his creators, alters the reflex system to reduce the time it takes his host's brain to process stimuli. It is a subtle, but powerful ability that allows both Ettu and his host Tristan to respond with ninja-like reflexes. It can appear to others as though Ettu is able to see into the future, hence his nickname "The Seer." To accomplish these amazing feats, however, Ettu is particularly demanding on his hosts's brain, and often ends up overriding Tristan's consciousness for several seconds at a time.

  Taylor is hazel-eyed feminine man of slightly below average elevation with silky, black hair that often rests down across his shoulders. Given that Taylor works as a independent contractor, often over the internet rather than face to face meetings, his attire can be something that would be considered less than business appropriate. His standard attire is a solid color SEXY ZIP-UP VEST rarely zipped up to show his well-earned abs and cool off from the oppressive Orlando heat. Given his hair, body stature and higher-pitched voice, Taylor is certainly androgynous and has been mistaken as a masculine female before.
• Personality
  Ever the diplomat, Taylor tries to be an agreeable peacekeeper wherever he is. He's a strong believer in compromise, generally believing that to get a little you have to give a little. Some might see him a pushover, but his compromises are logical. He's not going to agree to a tilted compromise against him unless he's holding a bad hand of cards. He wants people to think well of him and his those he cares about, leading him to be the apologetic one of the group when things go poorly. In private, he is still the diplomat, but more firm in putting his foot down and making his views strongly known.
  
  Ambition
  As a child, Taylor dreamed of being a superstar. A famous athlete. The president of the United States. The next Bill gates. They were, however, just dreams, and as Taylor has grown older he has put aside those high and lofty goals like changing the world for more mundane goals like getting married and starting a family. While he has accepted his lot and goals in life, he still dreams of having an important, significant life and sometimes finds himself chasing that dream for a time.
  
  History
  Taylor grew up in rural Wisconsin, far away from any thing even close to a city. In his small school, Taylor was the star of the class. To the surprise of no one, Taylor was able to find his way into a public university far away, specifically Florida State University. It was here that Taylor faced the reality of going from a big fish in a small pond to a small fish in a big pond. College was four years of struggle and hardship, but on the other side he emerged with more realistic goals in life.
  
  After college, he took the opportunity to remain in the warm climates of Florida that he had come to enjoy by setting himself up as a web developer in the Orlando area. He takes contract jobs whenever he needs the money while he explores his other interests and passions, including love. About a year ago, he began sharing an apartment with his roommate Tristan.

  Cyrus is a caucasian male, in his 20's, with a more athetlically inclined body. He has regrettibly lose some mass due to his stay in "The Hotel Loonie", but thanks to good genetics and a nice worth ethic he has retained his general look. His hair is shaved down to the nubs, blonde or a dirty mix of brown and gold could have possibly been there--but he was forced to shave his head during his stay. A smug grin nearly always adorns his face as his relatively taller-than-average height allows him to nonchalantly look down at others with ease, assisted by a 6'1 vertical. His knuckles are large and palms roughed--displaying his time as a ruffian. If one were to have an investigative eye, they'd see that his arms have pin pricks at the pit of his elbow. He was a user. Was. Finally on his face is a diagonal scar, earned from the event that took his sweetheart. He doesn't remember much about it.
• Personality
  Cyrus is a snarky, cynical, and a despondent young man who is coming off the rebellious fumes of a wild child life. This punk lifestyle is still prevalent in his sin and intelligence-laden mischievous and overall iconoclast nature. His actions often adhere to his brash and cocky attitude, actions that often have go out of his way to prove his masculinity and his noteworthiness as an individual that is needs some notice in the world. Showing a side of manipulation in the moments where you can see him feigning or attempting to ignore life's little nags, he is mischievous, quick-witted, and a bit of a dick. Taking very little shit with his smarmy way of suggestion and devilish smile. Snarky and always willing to give a very harsh opinion laden with a thick snicker. Shown to be resourceful, street smart, generally smart and overall the definition of "Some-punk-who-doesn't-apply-himself." Cyrus is constantly confronted with accepting reality while searching for adventure in a gray world. More often than not manipulating whom he can to get his thrills and jollies.

  Life sucks, Gotta make it not suck. How? Well Cyrus wants adventure, he wants thrills, he needs something to make him feel alive again--Something that can redeem how shitty, gray, and dull the world is. However an even bigger ideal he seeks is to find out what happened on the day that She left--and to find out if he is truly responsible for it.
  
  History
  
  Cyrus' home was once the upper-east seaboard in Maine. A move that happened about 15 years ago after Cyrus's mother died due to her weak immune system. It was a long treatment for that was long as it was arduous for Cy's father. Comparatively to the death the move was quick. leaving no time for goodbyes, only smoke and dust. Their relationship became tumultuous ones and they did not often come to terms well, with Cy's lifestyle. Molding what would be the archetype of a rebellious and irresponsible bastard of a child running around sticking his dick on things he shouldn't (consensually). Cheap thrills, easy girls and a cup of lean. High-School created that disgusting petri-dish of vanity, individualism seeking, and enough booze to fell an ox.
  
  He was unlikeable if not for the constant everyday actions of spectacle. A street race there, a vouch for a drug dealer, and a total prick to the school faculty. He lived his high school life in that deplorable and high-octane niche of the bad body that wasn't tragic. A Punk. A Delinquent. However this came to a break once he found someone who was a lot tamer than he was. A sweet young thing who was better off minding her own business, it only took a month and in the end she was gone. Cyrus doesn't talk much about her. And the stories that are as hushed and rumored as the day it happened.
  Cyrus had gone into state care after that--his father releasing him the facility that he was held in, on a promise that he would get his act together. So far? He isn't doing too great and he is on the verge of heading back into a padded cell.

  Sherry has a very awkward body frame where she has a rather small chest but large hips. Not too large to where she looks like a turnip just a little larger than it should be for a normal body ratio. She stands to a height of 5'11" and enjoys wearing heels sometimes to tower people. Her complexion can be described as between an exotic or medium-brown tone with raven black hair and dark brown eyes. As for her body mass index and all the characteristics concerning muscle mass and whatnot, Sherry is above average as she should be for her job. Her main type of exercise is jogging, and for a spin on some weeks Zumba.
  Her attire changes from day to day with most outfits fitting along the category of semi-formal.
• Personality
  A hard-worker with a cold demeanor. She can come off as rude and ruthless at times, but she doesn't do this intentionally, she's simply like this. At times she tries to be humorous or act "cool" but Sherry comes off as awkward when she attempts easygoing social interaction. So she mainly stays with her way of things, getting right to the point of the conversation and analyzing those she interacts with.
  For the most part she is not surprised, scared, or pained by any situation she is thrown into since she has almost seen most of the ugly side to society. Many may call her inhumane but she does have a heart, especially when it comes to children, elders, and adolescents. Some adults she may pity but for the most part she's suspicious of the many.
  From working as a detective Sherry has come to learn to try new things. Suggest to her to ride a roller-coaster, she may not say anything but proceed to ride it. New food? No problem. She especially loves trying new drinks. Attending events with co-workers doesn't bother her, but when it comes to intimate appointments, no can do. Sherry is oblivious to such feelings and can actually be really dense about it. But she can quickly pick up when someone is expressing the basic emotions of sadness, fear, anger, surprise, disgust, and happiness.
  
  Ambition
  From experiencing the pain of losing a loved one, Sherry wishes to help bring closure to those that have it. She also wishes to strive to finish the first class she was never able to close on.
  
  History
  Despite her personality, Sherry actually had a simple childhood. Her parents met each other through a minor car crash and eventually got married, moved to Florida, had kids, and lived well, at least in the parts they moved to. The neighborhood that Sherry grew up in could be described as "dangerous" but it was normal to Sherry. There were fights, shootings, killings, robberies, and many small crimes. The Robbins, Sherry's family, built up a reputation that received respect from just about anyone in the neighborhood, even from gang members. Even as a child Sherry always had an unsympathetic demeanor, which paralleled her parent's caring and empathetic personas. Sherry's siblings didn't appear as cold as her either. Sherry's parents believed that she held many similarities to her grandfather.
  
  Soon Sherry came to learn that her grandfather was a well-respected police officer. Since she was a tough child and many compared her to her grandfather she decided to follow his footsteps. Sherry wasn't exceptional at school but she stayed above average and passed all the needed requirements to become a detective. All seemed to be going smoothly for Sherry, until her grandfather passed. As much as they were alike and never got along, she truly loved her grandfather. What hurt even more was that she learned of his death when she came onto the crime scene to see his body. It was her first solo case, but she never managed to find the culprit. This stalled her procession into receiving more cases, but eventually she managed to prove to others that she could handle cases. It's just with her grandfather's there was little evidence to be found. Now Sherry is nearing onto working 8 years with the Orlando Police.

  Peter is lean but quite well-toned. He has longish, straight brown hair and light brown eyes. Usually, he dresses in a moderately hipster-like fashion, though he doesn't go overboard.
• Personality
  Peter is a man who has a very specific set of priorities. First, his health and sanity, closely followed by his sports, and becoming better at them as well as competing whenever he can. Third, sadly, come family and friends. His family are almost entirely disconnected from him by now, as he continually misses family gatherings, preferring to go to this competition or organise that sponsorship. Unless they keep up, friends will often be left by the wayside, so he lives a mostly solitary life, though he's sufficiently friendly, smart and likeable at first glance to make quick, temporary friendships and get on with people he's just met. He's never had a relationship long-term, however - it's not that he dislikes people, but simply that his priorities are so messed up.
  
  Ambition
  To become world-renowned in his sports of choice.
  
  History
  Peter grew up with a reasonably loving family, though his father worked long hours and with a lot of business trips, so the man was always fairly distant to Peter. His mother was kind and loving, but she gave Peter too much while asking of him too little, and he'd often disobey her, staying out late and even going on trips without even telling her more than a day beforehand.
  Once he left home, that was pretty much that. He dropped all contact with his father, and nowadays his mother only texts him occasionally, still sadly loving him enough to ask how he's doing once a month or so, and still inviting him to everything the family did together - thanksgiving, Christmas, et cetera.

  Isabel has lightly tanned skin with a generous sprinkle of freckles across her face. Her most distinctive feature is her slightly curly ginger coloured hair. The blue eyed woman stands at 5'7 but since being confined to a wheelchair, her height now stands at around 4'2 with a weight of 103lbs. Her confinement to a wheelchair has robbed her of some of her strength and toned figure leaving her with a slim body. She wears loose, flowy clothes, favouring long sleeves and dresses.
• Personality
  Too cold, too unfeeling and too emotionless. Isabel is a woman who likes to be in constant control and gives away nothing of her thoughts or feelings in her actions or expressions. She lacks passion or interest in anything and always seems bored or distracted. An independent spirit, she doesn't like having to rely on anyone and keeps a lot of things to herself. She's very evasive especially when asked anything about herself or her opinions, often supplying politically correct answers or taking a neutral stance. Her lack of expression and open affection or seeming concern for anything has always hurt her relationships with others. She thinks poorly of herself due to having constantly upset her parents and those around her and as such lacks confidence when it comes to others.
  
  The reserved woman can be quick to judge others but rarely voices these thoughts and often keeps any ideas or solutions to problems she has to herself in order to stay in the background. She lies a lot and often plays dumb as she feels uncomfortable voicing her true thoughts, baring herself to others and doesn't want to upset others or draw attention to herself. Underneath her seemingly uncaring and unfeeling facade, Isabel is actually a warm woman who loves and cares easily, she just doesn't know what to do or how, often going about things the wrong way and her uncertainty or fear of making a mistake where others are concerned leads to frequent inaction. This fear of being inadequate, as a daughter, friend, wife and mother has caused her to be misunderstood and contributed to much of her misery and loneliness.
  
  Ambition
  Isabel doesn’t really know what she wants to do in life aside from putting an end to her disappointing and hurting others. For now she just wants to see her loved ones happy and paint satisfying pictures.
  
  History
  Her parents thought she didn't love them. Her husband accused her of being unfeeling and her son suffered from a lack of affection.
  When Isabel was born, her parents were older than most and delighted after years of disappointment. Their first and only child had a distinctive appearance that drew her much attention and her parents took great joy in dressing her up as a little girl and taking her out to numerous events to show her off leading Isabel to stand out in the crowd and become a popular child from young.
  
  Wanting her to have the very best, they made sure she would never want for anything, toys or love and paid for lessons in art, music, sports and other activities as soon as she was able. Unfortunately for them, Isabel simply wasn't a very expressive or loud child, she was of the quiet variety, a softspoken thinker who wasn't vocal about her feelings or her love for her parents, too shy to give kisses in public or say I love you and scared to present anything she thought potentially imperfect to her parents because of their expressed desire for her to be perfect. She never wanted to disappointment them and she loved them immensely, going along with whatever they had wished of her as a show of that but her inability to express her love for them or any affection slowly led them to believe their little girl whom they absolutely loved did not feel the same way. They slowly grew depressed over their belief their daughter did not love them and spent less time fussing over her and marvelling at the smallest of achievements and milestones.
  
  Her parents disappointment hit home hard and not knowing the reason why, Isabel came to believe it was because she wasn't the child they wanted her to be. Having disappointed her parents and lost some of their attention and constant displays of affection, Isabel's friendship with an awkward and unpopular girl, Daisy, became all the more important to her. Daisy had been passionate about dancing, art and being a good student. She wanted to impress, to perform well in school and get good grades, the opposite of Isabel who lacked genuine interest in those activities and lacked Daisy's passion.
  
  The girls had been close and shared everything with each other until jealousy started to set in. Insistant on doing everything together, Daisy ahd convinced Isabel to participate in several contests with her and the results of those contests and their exams started to eat away at their friendship when Isabel beat out Daisy in every single one of them. Isabel's lack of interest in the activities and excitement at winning upset Daisy who loved them and badly wanted to win the contests. The ease with which Isabel seemed to do well without really trying or caring compared to the amount of effort she had put in got to Daisy and the final straw was when Daisy's longtime crush confessed to Isabel. It led to a venom filled outburst of pain and feelings of betrayal from Daisy, an episode that deeply affected Isabel who had truly cared for and liked Daisy and was hurt to hear the accusations that she hadn't cared and only befriended her for laughs because 'why would anyone befriend poor, ugly Daisy when they could befriend anyone of their choosing'.
  
  Upset that her popularity and superiority had ruined the friendship she had treasured, Isabel withdrew herself. Her grades suddenly dropped from top of the class to average, her performances in dance and art were no longer outstanding, the practices she had been so diligent about came to a halt and as she went from outstanding to average, she slowly faded into the background. The belief that their daughter did not love them and her sudden drop in her performance and refusal to practice proved to be more than her parents could handle and the shock sent her father and his ailing heart to the hospital. His heart condition worsened as time passed eventually requiring surgery when Isabel entered college. Needing money their savings could not supply, Isabel's boyfriend Tyler proposed so that he could help care for them and pay for the surgery and Isabel agreed. They married, the operation was successful and Isabel had a son, Tyson not long after.
  
  Having always felt somewhat suffocated due to her disappointing those who mattered to her, Isabel had become drawn to planes and the sky where she felt free and unburdened. She pursued a career as a pilot and her skills eventually earned her a job offer from the FBI. Devoted to her time consuming job, her relationship with Tyler suffered and she inevitably neglected her son who became a problem child, causing trouble in an attempt to get his mother's attention. The premise of their marriage did not help her relationship at all with Tyler believing that she had only married him because she needed the money for her father's surgery. Her habit of keeping her thoughts to herself and lack of open affection again only worsened the relationship as Tyler grew increasingly upset and eventually filed for divorce, believing she never truly loved or cared for him the way he had and accused her of being unfeeling the day he walked out.
  
  Having disappointed for a third time and recognising that her inability to express her feelings or be openly affectionate like most other women was hurting those around her, Isabel decided to distance herself from her young son Tyson as well despite her love for him and at the divorce, she let Tyler have full custody believing things would be better that way. Without obligations to anyone other than herself, Isabel's career took off as her work hours increased but the loneliness and repeated disappointments ate away at her and caused her to be unfocused and distracted during a flight, leading to her crash while making her landing. Though she miraculously survived the incident, it left her paralysed waist down, confining her to a wheelchair and putting an end to her career.
  
  Despite being confined to a wheelchair, Isabel has refused to allow it to change her life completely and she still travels as often as she can, going about her life as she had before the accident as much as possible. Since then, she hasn't seen much of her 9 year old son, ex or parents except for the occasional visit and has passed her days painting, another activity that allows her to be free and has recently returned to her home in Orlando after a short trip to Miami. The crashed satalite piques her interest as an artist and former member of the FBI, drawing her to it.

  Nine times out of ten, when you see Zoya you'll find a smile on her face. This isn't because of some sense of faithful naivete, but because of Disney training. Hot or cold, rain or shine, a Disney princess must always be seen smiling. That's what they drill into your head, anyway. Zoya likes to think of it as a genuine fakeness. She's pretended to be happy so much, she does it automatically. But underneath her veil of smiles and magic grows an increasingly cynical ambivalence towards the world around her. The longer she stays in her current station in life, the less she believes in a person's ability to control their own destiny. This has translated to small, almost negligible cracks in her otherwise cheerful facade.

  History
  Zoya Lee came into the world luckier than most. She was born to two educated and employed parents who loved her and tried to give her the world. Zoya was, as soon as she could be, enrolled into all the best pre-school programs and playgroups. As she grew, so did her parent's ambitions. Zoya's grades were closely monitored by her parents, and her free time was taken up by an ever growing list of extracurricular activities and tutoring sessions. The only time she felt like she was doing something on her own (as opposed to being forced by her parents) was during her singing/acting lessons. Zoya's coach, a woman in her late 20s, was a small parts actress our of Williamsburg. Zoya looked up to her, a slender woman who always wore long, flowing skirts and independent attitude right on her chest. She was always telling Zoya stories of her time in LA and New York. It all seemed so exotic back then.
  
  It was in high school that Zoya was really bit by the bug. Her parents, convinced by Zoya that it would look good on her college application, had allowed her to pursue acting in her school's plays. With encouragement from her coach, Zoya landed small parts in local community productions, and even some extra roles in commercials. Occasionally they would do extra work together. It was during one of these tapings that Zoya's coach finally confessed. Sitting near the water cooler between takes, Zoya's coach explained, "I'm in my 30s - well, late 30s - you know?" Zoya tilted her head quizzically in response. Her coach had a defeated, but accepting look on her face. "It's just time," the older woman admitted, partially to herself. "I've got to start being realistic."
  
  That was the last time Zoya saw her coach. She didn't know it then, but there were no more lessons to be had. She found out later that her coach moved out towards Gainesville to become a realtor and "settle down". She'd given up on her dreams, which felt like a kind of betrayal to Zoya. This only inspired Zoya to pursue her newly determined dreams of being an actress. Her parents, as expected, were less than enthused by her choice but willing to reluctantly support their daughter.
  
  Driven by her passion, Zoya entered UF and wound up 4 and a half years later, about to graduate with a BFA in Musical Theatre. As graduation loomed over her head, Zoya realized she hadn't planned for this. Her entire mind was focused around getting her degree that she had no plans for what she would do with it after. One of the many recruiters that regularly visited the campus gave a talk specifically for the Fine Arts department at UF. He spouted a well-rehearsed speech on the "exciting" opportunities available, and the "high places" many actors went after their time with Disney.
  
  After his talk, Zoya approached the recruiter with some questions about commercial auditions for Disney roles. Naturally he knew very little to answer her questions, but made a comment about how she looked "just like" Tiana and handed her his card. Looking back on it now, Zoya wonders if that wasn't slightly racist (as she really looked very little like Tiana past her skin colour), but the excitement of getting a recruiter's card and attention was motivation enough to look past it. There were some auditions, but nothing new for Zoya. Just like that, she was in.
  
  For almost two years now, that has been Zoya's life, with a few odd auditions and parts mixed in. While it was shiny and new at first, every day seems to be just a little bit duller. Zoya, losing faith in her self-determination, waits for the day that something will jolt her out of her routine and set her on her path to being special

When taking into account the persona of Ms. Burnwell, one would think that she would've been fit for a much blander stature rather than the unnaturally colorful state she takes a shine to. However, many are proven wrong seeing as the young woman prefers clothing that can be seen easily from a mile away. Often being looked at with an expression of disapproval from those older than her, Tatiana keeps her hair in braids seeing as they are much simpler to maintain although her natural hair color has yet to be determined underneath a prominent mixture of both blues and oranges which makes one stop and stare in either admiration or...unabashed distaste. The teenager stands at a height of 5'9 and a weight of 131 lbs, her brown eyes correlating with her skin and her build being that of what one would expect from a young adult with serious eating issues. All in all, Tatiana is a typical teenager who just happens to have an uncanny obsession with hats and is not often caught without one (unless she has to remove it for work.)

It would seem that in the wake of normality we tend to abandon all that is different for the sake of appearing sane and this is rather apparent when it concerns Tatiana, her need to fit in with society making it hard when taking into account her...eccentricities. The young woman is what one would call an open book, her routine becoming rather predictable if another were to observe her for a while and her conversational cues bordering on arid and a tad bit dry when she feels as if human interaction has gone on for too long. Although her outwardly appearance may seem intriguing, the quirkiness stops there and whomever attempts to speak to the teenager may have to prepare themselves for curt answers and an inability to react to any kind of human empathy.

In fact, there are many things that Tatiana is unable to express and that is a feeling of gratitude, her affections stopping at "just acquaintances" and her own relationship with her family falling short due to the teen's difficulties with human connection. If that wasn't any more of a barricade, her unnatural urge to count objects has proved to be a hardship in her life and she often has to stop and pause for a few moments to satisfy this rampant need before getting back to her daily schedule. This very obsession has always made it complicated for Tatiana to make any kind of friends and despite her bland nature, the teen hides her true self and that is of a girl who is lost in life and only wants to be viewed as an equal to those around her. If one were to take the time to truly make themselves comfortable around Burnwell then they would actually enjoy her company in spite of the impulsive need to count the buttons on their shirt and the constant repetition of previous statements. Simply put, Tatiana is just another human being just trying to get by.

Born to Roger and Carolina Burnwell, Tatiana was quite a notable child with a penchant for organizing things in such a way that it made it hard for either of her parents to fully comprehend the child's thought process since the day she was able to say "Mother" and "Father" (Mommy and Daddy were unacceptable terms.) The young girl was made to be hidden away from the rest of the world, her education being mostly done at home and television being barred from her life unless it was a Friday and Carolina was in a good mood. Because of this general disconnect from the world and the fact that any person Tatiana attempted to befriend was either twice her age or genuinely disinterested, the girl sought solace in her own mind, disassociating whenever it was possible and taking comfort in her own imagination to provide her with the entertainment that a young child such as herself so desperately needed. Because of the despondency from their daughter, Roger and Carolina rarely ever attempted to understand Tatiana, labeling her as a problem child and rarely ever speaking to her on a personal level besides what parenting usually required. Because of this, at the age of 12, Tatiana developed a certain leniency on their next door neighbor who was an elderly woman that went by the name of Olivia and had quite an expansive number of books about butterflies which, for some reason, the little girl took a liking to.

The Burnwells were a sheltered family and preferred to keep to themselves however Olivia brought life to the 12 year old, allowing her to escape from the dreary confines of her own home and explore the unknown which usually amounted to lemonade and Olivia's rather small backyard but it was something special to Tatiana. At the age of 16, Tatiana's father decided that the girl could no longer speak to Olivia due to the fact that "negative influences often caused unwarranted mistakes" and "really, you shouldn't be associating with a woman that isn't even within your age range." Despite being the most content that she could be in life, Tatiana did not visit Olivia for a while which was why she was not able to learn about her death until a week after it had occurred seeing as the 16 year old had stayed within her home for a good portion of the time. It would've seemed that Olivia had been visited by Death and Death had decided that a heart attack was the best option, removing the 60 year old from the life she had built for herself and leaving Tatiana Burnwell with a box of books illustrating all different kinds of butterflies and where they came from. Included with the box was a note from the older woman which convinced Tatiana that there was nothing wrong with the way her mind worked but rather with the way that people condemned her for existing. Choosing to keep these two items for the remainder of her life, Tatiana dedicated her time to planning out an escape from the home which held her prisoner, unable to come to terms with the fact that her parents had planned out the route her life was seemingly headed towards. A good college, a shiny, new degree, and the added bonus of credentials and Tatiana could finally be something semi-respectable in the eyes of Carolina and Roger however their daughter had different plans.

Currently, at the ripe "old" age of 18, the woman works in a grocery store and still allows herself one peek of the box that Olivia made just for her.

  Andie was born to single, 25 year old Amber Stokes, living in a small apartment in Atlanta, Georgia, never even getting to know her father. Her mother never hid the truth from her, admitting to a 13 year old Andie that she was the result of a one night stand when both parties had a bit too much to drink and she didn't even know her father's full name. However, Andie's mother saw her as a blessing and never treated her any differently. Andie didn't really care that she was an accident, she knew her mother loved her the same.
  
  Growing up, Andie was not rich by any means. Her mother worked two jobs in order to pay the bills and ensure that she was building up a college fund, knowing how important education was for her daughter. Andie understood how hard her mother worked in order to make ends meet for their family; she knew that her mother truly cared about her future. Andie grew up wanting to be just like her mother, and mirrored Amber's hard-working attitude through youth athletics. First one on the field, last one off. Andie lived by that motto throughout middle school and high school, proving her dedication and incredible work ethic. It wasn't long before Andie started to get noticed, by her coaches, other kids, and most importantly, college scouts. Her freshman year of high school, Andie made a promise to herself: that she would earn a full-ride to play soccer in college so that her mother would not have to spend the much-needed money that she had worked years for and still had fallen short of college tuition. And so, Andie worked. She spent hours kicking that black and white ball around, perfecting her skills and learning new ones at the same time. When she played, Andie felt unstoppable. She loved the feel of the wind blowing through her hair, the excitement of watching the ball soar through the net after a perfect shot. Soccer was in her blood, and Amber claimed that her father must have been an incredible player, because it was clear that Andie had a real talent, something deeper than just an understanding of the game.
  
  And then suddenly, it happened. Andie recieved a full-ride to play soccer at the University of Central Florida, just outside of Orlando. Her mother was overjoyed at the news, tears forming almost instantly when she heard that her daughter was going to college to play soccer. No longer having to worry about struggling with finances or trying to take out loans to pay for college, a huge weight was lifted off the shoulders of both of the Stokes girls.
  
  Now, Amber works in a hospital 30 minutes outside of Orlando and Andie is a junior in college. The previous year, Andie was voted the first sophomore soccer team captain in school history and led her team to a national runner-up title. It was heartbreaking to lose, but Andie is excited to get the new season started and work towards her ultimate goal of winning a national championship.

  Always one to stay clean and not get too physical like other kids his age, Tiger enjoys wearing his favorite suspenders, the very first and last thing his mother ever bought from him in one of the big stores he sees on the way to school. His other clothes were fine, if a bit ragged underneath the touch-ups his mother supplied, but nothing could compare to his suspenders. Sometimes, he even refers to them as his ‘Safety Suspenders’.​

  A child of innovation, Tiger is determined that he’ll change the world. He has no idea what the world is like and he has a theory that nothing really exists out beyond Orlando, Florida, even if his teachers are a pretty stubborn opposition. Yet, he’ll change something, darn it. Tiger is a child who goes at his own pace, which can rapidly shift. Teachers, bless them, deal with an excitedly chatting Tiger blurting out answers, both wrong and correct, without raising his hand, but then have to deal with the quiet kid that is Tiger when he contemplates his newest sand castle.​
  
  
  Tiger has been deemed to be an above average child in intelligence for his age, but one that has been stunted without a supportive home environment. Tiger finds himself dealing with not only increasingly harder studies at school, but also a pact of bullies who like to destroy his creations. Not one to fight or complain, Tiger simply indulges more and more in his “personal time” away from everyone and everything as he imagines his totally awesome future.​

  The Brooke family is of a fate detailed with debt and heartbreak. The matron of the Brooke family, Gretta Brooke, once the daughter of a decent car salesman making his way through the economic ladder, was subjected to the life of the Lower Class after an accident took her father away. Her mother, always having been on the slippery slope due to a loveless marriage, fell with her, comfortable situating herself as a burden on Gretta’s back.​
  
  
  Doing her best to survive, Gretta began taking part-time jobs just to meet the rent each month. It was when she met her husband, Joe Starr, that things seemed to be looking up. A sweet, loving, and shrewd man, Joe Starr even decided to take the Brooke name at her behest, Gretta desiring to see the family name once again rising through the market.​
  
  
  However, as if Gretta had a cursed presence, soon after the wedding Joe began having troubles at work. The stress from Gretta’s encouraging, borderline nagging, personality grinded on him, and soon, he was let off from his job at the local bank, a meeting with a big client going horrible after a Joe’s nerves were set off by an innocent joke. Once again living in squalor, the Brooke family wondered if they would ever have a drop of hope in their life.​
  
  
  A year later, they did. Tiger Brooke was a gift to the family, a light that even got Gretta’s mother to look up from her bottle. The family decided to do their best, if not for the sake of their family, then the sake of Tiger. Growing up, Tiger was given the best home life a poor family could give, but it was a lonely one. To make ends meet and feed another mouth, both his father and mother were rarely around and while his grandma was much more lucid, she was always very sad and sometimes neglectful.​
  
  
  Once the school began taking an interest in Tiger’s aptitude for subjects like math and science, so did the Brooke family, and Tiger has resigned himself to having to constantly push himself and study at home, at the encouragement of his mother. Gretta, seeing the next chance for Brooke to be a name remembered, is not going to waste the brain between her child’s ears.​

  If one were to casually pass by Suzume on the street - on their way to work, perhaps, or any other point of interest - the first signals to be sent to their brain would register the vibrant nature of her hair, which had suffered torture via pastel dyes in a bout of ennui this past summer. Su herself is not the biggest fan of her new do, but she knew she needed a drastic change in her otherwise lethargic living, and hair dye was about has 'angst-ridden teen' as she could go without terrifying herself with notions of piercings or tattoos.
  
  Past her hair, Suzume's has porcelain white skin - a fact that greatly pleases her Japanese mother's eurocentric standards of beauty - and green eyes, an inheritance from her American father. Her father gave her a few extra inches as well - at 5'7, she surpasses her mother's standing by football fields. With her svelte build comes a certain lacking in regards to cleavage, and as much as she would love to adopt a feministic point of view in that area, she cannot help herself from splurging on padded bras to alter her appearance.
  
• Personality
  The concept of epigenetics asserts that not only can physical and emotional characteristics be affected by upbringing, but those characteristics may be passed on to potential offspring. For instance, a litter of mice that are neglected by their mother tend to develop anxiety, or an otherwise cautious nature, and the litter to result from those mice, when observed, tend to be inherently nervous, no matter their parents' treatment of them.
  
  Suzume, in a sense, is the third generation of mice - F2, as geneticists would refer to it. Her mother's strict upbringing in urban Japan and her father's time in the armed forced made for a childhood with pertinent structure. Not only was she ingrained with high respect for those older than her, but she found herself demanding respect from her colleagues. To exploit or disrespect Su would be a grave mistake, as she is no stranger to a grudge nor actions of spite (i.e. some calculated revenge). Since childhood she has considered schedules and to-do lists her best friends, leaving her marooned when things do not go according to plan. She tends to make snappy judgements of a person before she has even met them, and while this has proven useful in veering away from the unrulier bunch in high school, her hypercritical nature has driven away good people from her life and earned her the label of somewhat of a snob. Nonetheless, with an aforementioned respect construct, she is sweet to people regardless of what opinions she's made about them, and even more so to those that she considers close friends. In direct contrast to her mother's self-serving nature, Su is generous, and is unafraid to stick her neck out for friends and family. As indicated in her pursuit of medicine, once Suzume has set her sights on a goal she becomes driven to achieve it, and has difficulty giving up hope, even when said goal is no longer attainable. The notion that her parents have held impact on her personality irks her to no end, but the simple, inescapable truth is that the apple does not fall far from the tree.
  
  Ambition
  First and foremost, Suzume aspires to make her parents proud and, in the simplest terms, happy - a fact that will be reiterated further on. Becoming a doctor is a necessary step towards this initial goal, so whether she likes it or not, medicine is technically an ambition of hers as well. Within the four years ahead of her she'd like to rise the ranks in her swim team and graduate with honors.
  
  Aside from that, Su hasn't put much thought into her future past college. She sees herself raising a child someday, but the idea of permanently tying herself to a spouse lacks any appeal.

  While Suzume's childhood is quite comparable to that of an archetypal Asian child's, from her viewpoint, she definitely pulled one of the longer straws when it comes to upbringing. From the day she was born in September of 1998, she had been given the best of the best, be it in the form of schooling, food, or home. In terms of the necessities, her parents provided above and beyond for her, ensuring that their daughter would become a very successful - you guessed it - doctor some day. And while Suzume does find interest in the field of medicine, it is the way in which her parents brought her up that exponentially deprives the profession of its appeal, for she has been trained to feel as though she must constantly pay her parents back for their services to her, to perpetually remain indebted to her nurturers. Whenever an argument should arise in the household, accusations of ungratefulness on Su's part always arise, and from childhood her culture has ingrained in her inimitable respect for her elders, no matter how wrong said elders may be. It is for this reason that Su has been caught in a severe place of doubt upon entering Duke University; was medicine a desire of her own or was she pursuing it solely to please her parents?
  
  If it was a doctorate that her parents required in order to be happy, however, Suzume would pursue it in an instant, as misery had crept upon her parents' house in Orlando like an insidious disease. As Su had begun high school, her parents began to disagree about anything and everything, small quarrels escalating into ordeals that necessitated calls to the police. Having been constantly dragged into each argument, Suzume became aware at the tender age of 13 of her father's infidelity and her mother's manipulating ways. Threats of divorce were constantly made, yet never acted upon - much to Su's chagrin - as not only would divorce shame the family name, but Suzume's unemployed mother would lose the healthcare she desperately needed for her growing ailments. Illnesses of the mind, body, and spirit seemed to plague her family, and the only time her parents could agree upon something arose when they were pointing out flaws in their daughter.
  
  To say that her parents were always fighting would be a lie, however. When the two could momentarily put their hatred aside, and Su had done nothing to cross them, the daily goings were surprisingly pleasant. Despite their strict nature, her parents were very enthusiastic about amusement parks, movie theaters, and pools - where Su developed a love of swimming - and could truly be a joy to spend time with. It was in these fleeting moments, in the eye of the storm, that the Japanese girl found it hard to hold ill will towards her parents.
  
  Stepping away from the past, it has been mentioned that Suzume now attends, on a partial scholarship, Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where she is a rookie on the swim team and has yet to declare a major. While she is not very fond of reading, her job as a sales associate at a nearby bookstore satiates her love of organization and grants her a decent pay, as well as discounts on any reading material she may need in the future. She still visits her parents occasionally, and their quarreling natures seem to have diminished with age.
