[1x1] To High Seas (DrHuggies & SC)

sleeplessCartoonist

World-Renowned Dawdler
(1x1 RP between DrHuggies and sleeplessCartoonist, if you couldn't tell.)

The Characters:

Name: Cassandra Attwater

Age: 20

Appearance: Cassandra is a bit on the shorter side, and is rather slight. She has mousse brown hair and is fairly pale. She has green eyes, small, dainty hands and feet, and is overall not very imposing at all. She has long eyelashes, a small, rounded nose and somewhat thick pink lips. She often has her hair tied up, and, as one would expect, is usually wearing elaborate dresses.

Personality: Cassandra is smarter than one would expect her to be, and she has a sharp tongue. Though she's often quite reserved and polite around proper company, she can be very stubborn and proud. When upset, she often doesn't think too many things through, and it can lead to rash decisions.

What a dull evening, she thought.

Of course, Cassandra merely thought that. She wouldn't want to upset her company; her father would certainly be angry with her if she chased off another man, especially one so young and wealthy.

She took a sip of her tea, eying the well-furnished room in which she and her possible suitor sat. She was just waiting for him to say something stupid, or arrogant, or rude. Just a matter of time, she thought. Her eyes fell on him again. He was still talking, of course.

The fellow- Edmund something, she tried to recall -was a fairly handsome man in his mid-twenties. With his dark brown hair, blue eyes and, honestly, charming smile, she certainly didn't think he was unappealing due to his looks. He was wealthy, as well, the main reason why her father tried to introduce him to her. Now that she thought about it, she wouldn't have many qualms with marrying him, if he wasn't such a boring character. There he went, still chattering on about whatever it was he was talking about, having very little to say about anything despite just how much he spoke. She took a sip of tea when he mentioned marriage - she had made a game of it, now. She poured herself another cup, mixing some cream and sugar into it and glancing up a bit.

"I'd hate to cut this thrilling conversation short," she said, when he yet again mentioned marriage. "but I really do feel the need to stretch my legs for a little while."

"Let me accompany you--" he began, getting to his feet, but she spoke up before he could continue.

"No, no, I'd hate to bore you. I enjoy taking nice, long walks, you see, and I do very little during them. While I would adore your company, mister... Edmund,"

"Edwin," he corrected gently, frowning slightly.

"that's what I said. While I would adore your company, for the sake of your own sanity, I implore you to stay here." she said with a decisive nod, placing her tea aside and getting to her feet. "I bid you a good night, sir."

"Er... good night..." the man said, watching as she hurried out, frowning slightly.

Cassandra made her way downstairs and out of her home - a large, rather elegant estate -and made her way down the street. Her target was the dock, where she enjoyed watching the sun set and think. Her feet were killing her in the shoes she was wearing, and she could hardly breathe in her corset or focus with the large, itchy dress she was wearing, but she kept focused on her destination nonetheless.

"HURRY UP YOU SLOW SEA BARNACLES, WE DON'T HAVE ALL DAY!!!" Kai's voice boomed as he yelled at his crew from his place behind the steering wheel. Kai laboured his crew long and hard, but he didn't care. All he cared about was getting to their destination, with speed. Kai loves the feeling of the wind on his body, the salty, fresh smell of the sea.

Kai frowned slightly as he saw the storm approaching. "LETS GET HER READY FOR A STORM BOYS, HURRY UP" Kai shouted as he leaped over the railing and onto the main deck to help the crew bring down the masts. Kai's crew were like clockwork. Everyone had a purpose, and everyone fulfilled that duty to the utter best, or Kai would have them killed. Kai looked up to see that the dark mass of rolling clouds was approaching faster than ever. "Here we go!" Kai exclaimed as the first huge wave smashed into the hull of the ship.

Kai and his crew were flung to the side, many getting knocked overboard. Kai quickly got up and took the wheel from the pirate who was steering before. No one slept that night, everyone had to help secure everything, and bail out the water that was pouring in from various holes in the ship. When it seemed as though they would never make it, just ahead of them was a port! "Get your hopes up, LAND AHOY!!!" Kai shouted excitedly "FULL SPEED AHEAD!!!!"

She made her way down to the docks, lifting up her skirt a little as she approached the edge, sitting down and smiling at a gust of wind. The port was usually busy, as the town had a booming fishing and trading industry, though it was fairly quiet that night, a few fishing boats and one larger ship, presumably belonging to some wealthy traders, were docked. Cassandra sighed, lifting her feet up as a wave touched her shoe, tilting her head a little. The sun had set when she arrived, but she was enjoying the pleasant night.

"There seems to be a woman on shore cap'n" a voice from the crows nest came down.

"Lemme have a look" Kai said, catching the telescope as it feel from the crows nest.

It was a rich looking girl, wearing a rich looking dress, perfect. He needed someone to keep as a ransom for repairs and a free passage out, if this capture goes well we will be fine.

"Ready a row boat!" Kai yelled, "Time to go fishin'."

Kai got into the rowboat and rowed to the dock, he climbed up onto the dock and sat next to the pretty little rich girl. Kai had put on his best clothes for the occasion, he needed the girl to trust him.

"Hello there, I'm Jack whats your name?" Kai lied, surely everyone knew his name, he was of course a VERY famous pirate.

Cassandra was rather startled by a well-dressed man who sat next to her rather suddenly. She eyed the man suspiciously, unsure of what to make of him. "Cassandra. Miss...us Cassandra Attkinson. Pleased to meet you." she said with a polite nod, lifting her feet again as there was another large wave. She glanced up, squinting a little as she saw what she believed to be an approaching boat. She sighed, sitting up a little, wondering if she'd have to move from her current spot. "What brings you here, sir?" she asked after a few long moments, glancing over at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Well you see" Kai starts. He leans closer towards the girl and whispers into her ear, "I need a hostage". Kai then quickly and expertly gags and ties her up and drags her onto the boat.

"Shhhh little darling, it will be all over soon" Kai said with a wink as he placed a cover over the wriggling Cassandra.

When Kai and his hostage reached the ship he sat her inside his cabin and untied her.

"There's no use in tryin to escape hun" Kai said rubbing her head "I think you would rather stay in here than out there with the other pirates"

and with that Kai walked out of the room and slammed the door shut on Cassandra's face.

She was caught off guard by the man rather suddenly grabbing her. When she was untied, the first thing she did was remove her shoes, pausing briefly afterwards to enjoy the feeling of having them off, before getting to her feet. She was silent for a few moments as she paced around, examining the room and thinking, almost wishing she had brought Edward- or, was it Edgar? -with her on her walk. At least being stuck on a ship filled with violent criminals would be eventful. More eventful than spending the night with Edsel.

She sighed, taking her seat again and glaring at the door, wishing an opportunity would present itself.

The ship rammed into the dock with a loud thunk and Kai knew it was time. He walked into the cabin where Cassandra was and grabbed her, pointing his blunderbuss to her head (by the way a blunderbuss is a pirate pistol xD ), walked her out onto the dock. Kai then yelled at the top of his lungs, "OI, COME OUT HERE NOW YOU WORTHLESS SCOUNDREL OR I'LL PUT A BULLET IN THIS HERE BEAUTIES LITTLE HEAD!!!!" he then later whispered into Cassandra's ear, "don't worry hun, I ain't gonna shoot you if you stay niiice and quiet"

A fat looking docks man scurried onto the dock looking very scared. He was holding a musket in his hands.

"You let her go this instant you dirty pirate" the man said, his voice shaking.

Kai quickly shot the musket out of the mans hands and walked up to him, Kai then looked him in the eye and said calmly.

"Pardon I didn't quite hear you properly, now I want you to scurry your sorry little butt to whoever runs this dock and tell him to get his best men to repair our boat, or the mistress dies!"

And with that, the man scurried off and Kai and Cassandra went back into the cabin. Kai sat Cassandra down opposite to him on the table and gave her some steak and some wine. Kai had a bottle of rum in his hand and was gulping it down. Kai then offered some rum to Cassandra, sticking the bottle of rum towards her face, accidentally sloshing some out of the bottle and onto her dress.

She remained silent throughout the ordeal, keeping her nose high as she was sat down. She stared down at the food with a raised eyebrow, before looking up at him in silence as he offered her the rum. "I know you probably don't get any ladies on board, captain, knowing what superstition pirates have, but I think it's best if we set some things straight..." she said as calmly as she could, her eyes falling to the spot of rum on her lap. "First off, you shouldn't spill things on my dress. And I do not drink rum. And, as well, I am not a mistress. I'm married to a... wonderful man, and he's surely getting ready to save me as we speak."

Kai laughed. "You! Married, I don't believe you. I have a feeling that your father has tried to get you to marry a rich boy" Kai looked into Cassandra's eyes. "Ooo yes he's quite handsome is he? Yes, but why won't you marry him? Can I guess? Maybe he's boring, yes, a lady like you would want everything from a guy, you wouldn't like a boring man would you." Kai smiled and leaned back, knowing that he had the young lady amazed, Kai after all, was no ordinary pirate.

She stared at him blankly for a few long moments, shifting in her seat and frowning at him, narrowing her eyes. Perhaps he noticed the lack of a ring on her finger. Cassandra sighed quietly, taking a long sip of her wine and distracting herself with her thoughts, her mind wandering to her father and that Edmund fellow -- the two were no doubt panicking at that moment. She could picture her father yelling at Edison, perhaps upset with how he didn't accompany her. Sitting back, she placed her wine aside and cut a piece of the steak before her, eying it quietly. She didn't at all trust their cooks, though she probably wouldn't be poisoned, seeing as she was a hostage.

"So, do I at least have a nice price on my head?" she asked, looking up at the captain again and raising an eyebrow.

Kai chuckled. "That does depend on how important you are doesn't it dear." There was a sudden knock on the door and a yell "cap'n the dock master is 'ere." "Great news, come on sweetie, it's time for the big show!" Kai grabbed Cassandra by the arm and took her outside, his blunderbuss to her head. The dock master stood there, scared. "W-w-what do you want" the man stuttered. "We need repairs, and supplies, chop chop, I would hate to ruin this little pretty girls face, wouldn't that be a shame." Kai smiled as he cocked the blunderbuss, "chop chop!" The dock master ran off, scurrying like a little mouse. Kai loved the feeling of being in power, but he really did want to settle down, maybe Cassandra is the one, but he didn't really get the best starting foot with her, maybe he could set things right again, maybe he had a chance.

Cassandra sighed quietly, glancing around. She caught sight of her father and Edward off in the distance, smiling slightly. "Oh, look," she said, straightening up. "it's my beloved father, and he's brought company." she waved to them, grinning. "Hello, father, Edsel!"

The two stared blankly for a few long moments, her father turning to someone who worked by the docks and shouting some orders, his eyes wide.

"My name is Edwin," the gentleman called, frowning. "you're father's willing to pay a ransom, if you're let go."

"That's what I said, Edison. How much will he pay?" she tilted her head.

"Two thousand--"

"Only two thousand?" she frowned, tilting her head. "My goodness, I thought he loved me more! Wouldn't he rather pay, say... five grand?"

"Don't make this harder, Cassandra!" her father called back, approaching the dock but stopping a few yards away.

Kai chuckled as Cassandra was playing games with her father. "Aw come on guys, five thousand? Seriously! Maybe that rich pr*ck Edmund could pay for you, he seems desperate." Kai started playing his mind tricks on everyone. "Any you, Cassandra's father, a man that has only known this girl for less than a week is willing to pay more ransom for your daughter!! Tut tut tut old man, I find that unacceptable." Kai then whispered into Cassandra's ear "do you really love these people, I'm offering you a life of freedom, out in the sea, you won't have to marry this rich stink, or spend time with your father who would only pay two thousand for you. Wadda you say hunny? A life of freedom awaits."

Cassandra stared at the two quietly as Kai spoke, narrowing his eyes as he whispered to her. "I respect my father." she said, before paused, looking over at the older man again.

"What did you say you were willing to pay, father, dear?"

"Five thousand! Six thousand, if needed!" he frowned, glancing around quickly. "Will someone get my daughter out of there!?"

"Alright. And, Edward, dear-"

"Edwin." he corrected gently, frowning slightly.

"Edgar, how much are you willing to pay for me?" she asked sweetly, tilting her head.

"Ten thousand, fifteen thousand, maybe more." he responded, starting at her intently.

She smiled and nodded, before turning back to the captain. "Well, what do you have to offer me, then?"

Kai laughed. "I have a priceless treasure that awaits you... FREEDOM!" Kai said dramaticly waving his free hand in the air. "Oh and a guaranteed 25% of my share of any profit we earn in our journeys out in the seven seas." Kai added a wink at the end for a little more effect. "And to get you started, why not something pirates are known for, jewelry. I have plenty back in the ship, if you are willing to accept my offer." Kai smiled, you will experience the freedom of a pirate, a priceless treasure you won't want to miss. You can trust me on that sweetie."

Cassandra pursed her lips as she thought, staring at the dock quietly for a few long, silent moments. "Perhaps I'll take you up on that offer," she said quietly, turning away from him and smiling slightly. "but put on a show. Make it look like they took too long, or their prices were too low. So they won't be upset at me, you know." she glanced over at the dock again, watching her father continuing to shout at the workers as he paced around, frantic. "Poor, poor father, afraid to lose half his money for just his little girl. Well, I suppose we'll be off soon." she quietly said, smoothing out her dress.

After the workers had fixed the boat Kai thanked the dock master for his cooperation. Then he wallked up to Cassandras father. "I'm afraid you offered too less too slow. I am very sad to say this, but your daughter will die" Kai said, he then turned on his heel and started dragging Cassandra behind him. "Struggle and scream sweetie" Kai whispered into Cassandra's ear. And when I shoot, go silent. Then we shall sail away and be free.

She stared quietly as her father stared quietly his eyes wide. Edmund seemed quite confused, as he didn't quite hear what the captain said.

Cassandra was silent for a moment, when he grabbed her and whispered, her eyes widening suddenly. "What? No- no, let go of me!" she tried to pull away, though not hard enough to break free. "Let go of me this instant, I won't have this- I won't--!" she continued to struggle before she was pulled out of view, though she continued to shout and panic. When he fired the gun, she fell silent, resisting the urge to chuckle. Sure, she thought, what she did was a little mean, maybe even cruel. But it would be better than living with Edison, being as dull as he was.

Kai could hear the curses and screams of Cassandra's father.

"CALL THE NAVY!! HAVE THIS MAN KILLED AT ONCE!!" he shrieked.

Kai looked at Cassandra and she seemed a bit worried, Kai just whispered

"Crawl to my cabin, stay unseen, this is going to be quite a difficult escape."

Suddenly the peaceful night was filled with the cracking gunshots of the navy,

"don't give up lads! Lets get out of here in one piece!" Kai yelled at his crew as he steered the ship away from the dock.

"FULL SPEED AHEAD!"

Cassandra had retreated down to the captain's cabin, sitting down quietly, and briefly wondered if she should go find her shoes. She then recalled that she only had one dress, which was now stained with rum. She sighed quietly, pulling her hair loose and sitting back. She would probably convince the pirate fellow to buy her some new clothes -- something better than the god forsaken corset she was wearing at the moment. She shivered at the sound of gunshots, briefly wondering what lies she could tell to get herself out of any trouble if she was found and brought back to her father.

Just as Kai thought they had gotten away he felt a sharp pain on his left hand. He looked down to see that a lucky musket round had got his hand just in the right place. He looked up into the sky and screamed in pain. When he looked back down at his hand, he wasn't looking at a hand anymore, just a stump. Kai swore furiously as he tore off his shirt and tied it around his wrist to stop the bleeding, until, overwhelmed with pain, he fell unconscious.

Kai awoke a few times while unconscious but only for a few moments, and he never really knew what was going on until, after 3 days, he awoke inside his cabin, Cassandra sitting next to him wiping the sweat off his brow.

"You've lost your hand. We're far, far away from the port, now." she said, getting to her feet. "I've been keeping it clean, and your crew have been dealing pretty well." she put the cloth aside, pacing around the room. "Sorry, should I have welcomed you back to the land of the living with something other than, 'hello, you've just lost a vital part of yourself'? Whoops. Anyways, I was waiting for you to wake up. This dress is killing me, and I'd like some new, clean clothes." she folded her arms.
