    Iris

    goddess of rainbows

Not that Iris liked any day, but she really hated today.

It was sunny out, sure. The weather was nice, she guessed. But of all things, Iris was at a college for gods, and it was absolutely the last fucking thing she wanted to be doing today.

The worst part of all this was, somehow she and Thanatos had gotten separated. Her lifeline was just gone. She was able to survive without him, sorta, she would just be a little bit lonely—but bad things tended to happen if Thanatos was away from her for too long. Call it codependence, call it being platonic halves of each other, whatever—he needed her to keep his darkness thing or what have you away, and currently, she was unable to do that.

“Dammit, Natos.” Iris trudged through the halls of the academic building of Pantheon Academy, hoping that Natos had seen a bird or something and gotten distracted. (Unlikely.) He probably took a wrong turn on their way to the art room, which was probably going to be Iris’s only classroom for the next however-long-this-was-supposed-to-be.

When she reached said art room, however, Natos wasn’t there. There was a tight feeling in her chest, which she usually associated with seeing too many auras. It was almost like a certain desperation was clawing up her throat, willing her to be more panicked than she was actually willing to be about this. Natos was fine. He was a big boy.

But that definitely wasn’t what was scaring her right now.

Iris stepped into the room and looked around for the paints. There. She clutched a bottle of violet tempera and held it against her chest, trying to breathe deeply. In and out. In and out. Okay. It wasn’t working.

Squeezing her eyes shut, Iris tried to quell her incoming panic attack. She knew if she started painting now, she would make a mess. So for now, this would have to do. In and out. In and out.

Godsdammit, Natos, where the fuck did you go?

This is why he hated this college shit. Thanatos had gotten separated from Iris, due to their classes and now he was lost trying to get to the art room. Everyone who could see him could see him cursing under his breath as he stomped through the campus looking for one singular art fucking room. He hated being away from Iris, as his power, the power that likes to overpower him uses their separation as a way to fight him for control.

Which would be bad if it ever gains it.

His darkness wasn't like dark, it was black, it was cold, and it was a void of nothing. Growing up, he was encourage to let it roamed free without consequnces even if he hurts someone with it. It wasn't until he started to live with Hades, that he was taught that control is the best way to handle it. Controlling something so dark, so empty, it takes training, time, and patience. Luckily for him, he had a parent that had all three things. Hades helped him control it for as long as she could when he met Iris and the darkness stopped. Her light, her power seems to scare it almost.

Now he talks like it's has a mind of it owns. It does, it speaks to him like...whispers. Whispers of the dead, of their wishes because that's what his darkness is. It's the wishes, the spirits and the power of the dead. Using it, could give him enamrous strength, but could also give up control over himself, and give into the most basic insincts. It was like he was a beast, and he could feel it fighting against the wall he had build up. It wasn't until someone bumped into that it snapped him out of his head.

"Watch-" He was starting to growl out when the boy apologized and asked him not to murder him. "I don't murder idiots who bumped into me. Unless they did it on purpose. " Natos speaks out softly, as his tone changes to soften the boy and not make him so scared of him even though, he did just call him an idiot, what can he say? Old habits die hard. "Do you know where the art room is? You look like you know your way around here, and you can make up for the fact you bumped into me. And I won't murder you. "

Natos suddenly asked as he couldn't help but notice him. He was kind of adorable.

    Kind of.
