skylar's new year's eve party

Kio loved Daisy.

Well, not really. Kio found Daisy adorable (and extremely sexy), but the truth was that they were just "fuckbuddies," otherwise known as "friends with benefits." That was the way it's always been, and he hoped that was the way it always would be. Unless, of course, he found a girl he loved enough to spend the rest of his life with someday. Then he'd be loyal, and he and Daisy would just go back to being normal friends. But that was unlikely. Kio had to focus on the important things: making a career out of acting. The professional acting scene was surprisingly stressful... nothing like before, when it was just community theater and the occasional commercial. He auditioned, signed the dotted line, and before he knew it, he was in California, memorizing more lines than his little brain could handle and spending rigorous hours filming all over Paradise.

But none of that had to matter, at least for one night. It was New Year's Eve, and Kio — along with everyone (and everything) that breathed in Paradise — was invited to Skylar's party. Prior to that night, Kio had made plans to attend with Daisy, and he was over the moon. Neither of them had any real desire to interact with Skylar, but Daisy had to be there because of Julian, and Kio just couldn't pass up the opportunity to act stupid at a big social gathering. So Kio just sat at his window like a puppy, on the lookout for Daisy's car.

-

After a while, the car finally arrived. The first thing Kio noticed was that bright-ass pair of headlights, nearly blinding him. But, once his eyes got used to the light, he rushed downstairs as fast as he could and out the door. He couldn't hide his smile as he opened Daisy's car door, slipping into the passenger seat, watching as she shifted the car into "drive" and kicked off their journey to Skylar's place. Kio was unable to wipe that stupid grin off his face.

They eventually arrived at Skylar's place, and Kio's eyes promptly widened at the sight. The house was massive, even bigger than he expected. "Spoiled rich kid" was the vibe he got from Skylar, but he didn't know that this type of property existed in Paradise. He'd been to Los Angeles on several different occasions, and this house was nearly as big as the mansions he'd seen spread out along the coast. He was in awe. "...Wow," he uttered, stepping out of the car and closing the door behind him, staring up at the house in front of him, listening to the loud music coming from inside. It was a little intimidating, despite his new status as an accomplished actor.

Kio comfortingly wrapped an arm around Daisy as she buried her face into his shoulder. She was seemingly just as intimidated by this party as he was, but most likely for a different reason. He wasn't going to press further, he didn't want to talk about feelings and psych Daisy out before they even went inside. The truth was that he was starting to psych himself out. He'd been to loads of parties before, all pretty big, but none as big as this one. He let out a soft sigh, looking back at Daisy and flashing her a wide smile.

"Yeah. C'mon. Let's do it."

And so, the two of them walked inside, navigating the party for a while before pushing their way towards the drinks. Booze. The best part of any party. Kio grinned and poured shot after shot after shot, and before long, the entire situation just seemed like a blurry, muddy mess. He continued taking shots, eventually losing count and starting to get to a point where he was missing the shot glass entirely, and he was mid-pour when Daisy dragged him over to where Elliot, her old roommate, was standing. He was starting to get all sweaty from the alcohol and the ocean of people surrounding him, and he was holding onto his booze for dear life, praying the huge bottle didn't slip out of his hands and shatter all over the floor. The pair approached Elliot, who was leaning awkwardly against the wall. "Yeah, hi, I'm Kio!" he said, introducing himself to the man, who was obviously high on something. Kio's speech was slurring slightly, but for the most part, he was able to sound normal. He wrapped an arm around Daisy again, smiling softly at her display of physical affection, unaware that she was just doing it to make Elliot jealous. "We do... ah... Harbor..."

Even in his drunken state, Kio noticed the awkward tension between Daisy and Elliot as the conversation went on. All he could really do was silently watch the conversation go on, not entirely following what was going on. He half-wished he could be literally anywhere else, but he knew that he had to stay and be supportive for his friend. But still, he felt himself get distracted, looking around at the party, at the people surrounding him, listening to the loud music and yelling, and he let out a little drunken giggle. This was a party! What a wonderful way to spend New Year's Eve!

He looked back at Daisy and Elliot. Neither of them looked like they were having any fun at all. He sighed softly, feeling the final hours before the New Year begin to slip away. He wanted to have fun, not stand around and get roped into some relationship drama. He looked down at his booze and he chuckled a bit, taking another swig, straight from the bottle this time.

I'll have a great time, I know it. I just have to wait a bit.

Elliot knew there was no reason to be mad at Kio, if anything them meeting was just a stupid facade because Elliot allready knew who he was way before them meeting now.

Daisy had come up to him with no hesitation, which was definitely to expect from her. She would never not take the opportunity to argue.

Her telling him it was all good obviously was far from the truth, even Elliot out of his god damn mind could see it. She pulled Kio closer as to give Elliot another physcological kick in his balls.
She introduced him to her, as if she had not brought him up in every argument the two had.
Elliot shrugged and looked Kio up and down, he was slightly taller but looked a lot younger than he was. His dark hair and dark eyes made Elliot´s blood boil. Daisy really had to arrive with second generation Elvis to make him jealous.

´Hey,´ Elliot eventually mumbled, realizing he was still leaning against the wall looking a whole mess. Elliot tried to stand straight but eventually dozed off against the wall again, ´I'm having a great time,' he spoke up, looking at Daisy's arm dissapear onto Kio's back. He must've stared at it for way too long before he even realized he was staring. Elliot never felt the urge but balled his fists, he could punch a whole wall right now.

'So, is he even legally allowed to drink?'
Elliot immediately regretted his comment but instead of apologizing took out some cigarettes out of his pockets. 'Anyway, I told Daisy that if you're going to stay over again tonight, make sure you feed my five meter phyton i'm hiding underneath my bed,' Elliot pointed at the young man with half a smile now, laughing at his own stupid joke.

The boy was obviously drunk and he felt a wave of empathy coming over him, even Elliot woulnd't dare coming in between him and Daisy, let alone this guy who was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Elliot now had sunk to the ground but held his hand in the air with the cigarette he offered Kio. 'We'll trade for the bottle,' Elliot jokingly said as he smiled at him and at Daisy. 'Because I want to celebrate with my new coworkers because I just got the text from Julian,' Elliot declared to at least half the party with how loud he said it.
It was a blatant lie though and hopefully he wasn't going to be caught tonight so then it could be a problem for tomorrow.

'I'm hired!'

Any other New Year's Eve, Hayden would be out at a party getting completely fucked up. He wasn't one to turn down an excuse to have a good time, and NYE always provided excuses in plenty. He really did consider backing out of this plan to go have a wild night, but he'd let curiosity get the best of him.

Arielle Jameson must've used her crystals to cast a spell on him, or some weird shit like that. Hayden knew that a year ago if anyone had spoken about doing a crystal ritual he would've probably laughed at them. He was more open minded now, thought it was cool that other people were into that sort of thing. Still, he didn't really think of himself as someone who'd get invited along to a New Year's crystal ritual, much less someone who'd accept that invitation. Yet, here he was.

When Ari had talked about it at band practice, he couldn't help but listen to her with intrigue. Less towards the subject, more towards the speaker. Ari was sweet, and he found himself wanting to figure out why he was just so drawn to her. This whole crystal thing seemed to make her happy, and when she'd invited him along he said yes without even thinking about it. He was quite curious about this ritual she was doing, how it all worked- if it even did.

He sat on a bench near the edge of the sand, waiting for Ari to come along. He'd shown up quite early, nerves getting the best of him, wondering if he should've even shown up at all. Hayden had no idea what this ritual entailed, which kind of freaked him out. Plus, maybe the invite was just her being nice and she wouldn't really want him there. No, he couldn't let that thought get in his way. He wanted to play it cool, trying to mentally find the right balance between being interested and not coming across as over eager or dorky. Hayden was far too concerned with what others thought of him, yet another fault he constantly beat himself up over.

He glanced around, trying to see if the girl was nearby yet. He found himself smiling a little thinking of her coming along at any moment now. He was determined to be positive tonight, let Ari's good vibes sweep him away. And if she did end up using him as a sacrifice in her ritual or something, what a way to go.

;; Ezra
Some people's New Years resolutions must've been to act like assholes towards waitstaff, because the behavior of some people during this shift was absolutely horrendous. It was New Years Eve, people were buzzing with excitement- and five glasses of champagne didn't do much to calm anyone's energy. Ezra was suffering, and to make things worse the one person he actually liked in this place wasn't working today. As he dredged through this nightmare of a shift, he was kept afloat by reminding himself that he'd go to Oceanna's when he was done. He knew they'd get stoned as fuck, have a few drinks, and have a great New Year's that they'd probably barely remember.

Ezra spent the later end of his shift avoiding any to difficult work, pawing off tasks to as many other employees as he could. Yeah, he needed money, but he really didn't want to work so he was going to do the most to avoid tasks that burdened him. He got off a bit after the dinner rush, tired as hell but ready to get the party for two started at Oce's. He couldn't get away from work fast enough, speed walking to his car and driving off in a hurry before anyone could ask him to stay later since they were having a busy night.

When he pulled up to her apartment building, he grabbed a couple bags from his backseat before getting out of his car. They were filled with snacks and weed, of course. Most of the snacks were picked out with Oce in mind, only the stuff he knew she liked. He felt kind of dumb when he went to the store that morning and bought stuff. He wasn't used to feeling the need to make someone happy, he felt himself becoming dangerously fond of Oce. He'd done his best to avoid attachment, but always found himself pulled towards her, ending up on her couch most nights.

Ezra was so close to her, in fact, that he now had a key to her apartment. He supposed she'd gotten tired of having him obnoxiously banging on her door to get her to let him in. He unlocked the door and immediately chucked a bag full of weed at the girl inside as he closed the door behind him. It definitely wasn't a gentle toss. "That's what you get for leaving me alone today," he huffed. The bitchy introduction was no way to greet someone he cared about, but Ezra liked to push his luck. He found himself behaving rudely towards his friend often, figuring that she'd get sick and tired of him eventually, just like everyone else. He didn't want that to happen, but it's all he ever knew, so he figured it would be easier for everyone if it happened sooner rather than later.

Still, he'd enjoy her company for the time being. "Brought snacks, help yourself," He said as he set his bags of groceries down. "Don't fucking touch the Pringles though, they're mine." He wouldn't actually give a shit if she ate his Pringles, he just liked trying to pick a fight about something. Oce could get away with anything around him. He'd never say this to her, but he cared about her in a way he'd never felt about anyone. Craved her friendship like nothing before. Sometimes, it made him sick to his stomach, but he couldn't bring himself to stop. She was his favorite person and he'd surrendered to that fact, even if he was scared it was going to kick his ass in the long run.

BILLIE BENSON
The comfort that Stassi brought on to Billie was unexplainable. She'd only been in love once, and that was with the ex who wrecked her, and she'd vowed to never fall for anyone again. But, if she were to fall for someone again, it would 100% be Stassi. She was always there for Billie, she knew the right things to say, she smelled heavenly, and she never judged Billie for not being the brightest. She was aware of what everyone thought of her, she wasn't that dumb, but her smarts (or lack thereof) were all people seemed to want to focus on.

Billie couldn't help but smile at Stassi's encouraging words. They were mean, but she would get over it in about ten minutes. So, at the offer of snacks, Billie propped herself up on one elbow and gave Stassi her puppy dog eyes, "can we skip the party altogether and just stay here, drink, and watch some movies?" She knew her friend was going to say yes, plus cuddling on the couch with Stassi seemed a lot more fun than getting wasted in a sweaty crowd of people. Especially after what they had been saying to her on Twitter earlier. The embarrassment of them seeing her boobs still lingered over her.

So, without an answer from Stassi she dug into her overnight bag and quickly changed into her shorts and t shirt set that she always brought with her. She ran hot when she slept so she tended to stick with a lingerie type of pajama or baggy light shorts and t shirts. "Come on..." She took Stassi's hand and led her friend back out to the kitchen to gather up all the snacks and wine before she took it to the living room to spread out on the coffee table "I think we'll be all set for tonight!" She said excitedly and took one of the chip bags and leaned back into the couch to get comfy, "can you pick the movie?"

OCEANNA WOLFF
Oceanna's nerves were tingling. All day she had done the regular person things; clean her apartment, cook some lunch, chill with some coffee and a show. But when Ezra began messaging her before his shift ended, and not only is he coming over (like usual), the tone in the texts were flirty between the two... Well more so than usual. And normally she wouldn't be nervous, but here she was, adjusting her outfit and fixing her hair. Why was she trying to look good for him? They're just friends. And yeah they flirt but Oceanna flirted with everyone, and was pretty accustomed to be flirted back with. Her face reddened at the thought, and just as she exited the bathroom a bag of weed was thrown at her, signaling that Ezra had arrived.

A smile rose to the girls lips as he blamed her for leaving him at work that day. The smiles were for rare people, and Ezra was one of them, "hey maybe if you didn't skip out on hours you would reach your weekly limit too." she teased back and plopped down on the couch with the bag to begin rolling up whatever he had brought. "The pringles are mine if you sleep on the couch for free." She said in a sing song voice as she expertly packed the wrap. When the couch shifted under the weight of him sitting, she pulled her legs up and crossed them under her while she turned to face him, "here you go you big baby." She said, handing him one of the two joints she had rolled, "never seen someone be so miserable on New Years Eve." She joked and lit up the one she had rolled for herself.

"What's got you in such a grouchy mood today anyway?" She asked. She was sitting quite close to him, and she had to ignore her heart pounding in her chest as she took a long pull, trying to ease the anxiety she was feeling toward her friend. She never used to feel this way for him. But the bonding and constantly spending time with him was getting to her. She didn't want to feel this way of course. All the people in her life hurt her or left her, and he would probably be one of them with how much he bounced around. She had no doubt in her mind that he would break her heart. But, maybe it was something she was willing to risk.

Kammi would be lying if she said she wasn't appreciative of everything that Skylar would do for her, even if it meant taking some of the bitchiness that Skylar tended to come with. Still, beneath that sassiness and attitude was a loving being that Kameron would give her life for.

You're a better sister than my real one, that's for sure.

Kammi looked up to her and thought over her words carefully. She knew the relationship between Skylar and her sister was rocky to say the least, but she still knew better than to just throw her words around. She knew from her own experience with her family, that even when you hated them no one was allowed to make remarks about them but you. Besides, she wasn't even sure that she was supposed to hear it.

"You're definitely the sister I wish I had. "
was what she offered as she looked herself over in the mirror some more. She took a deep breath and nodded when she was satisfied.

Admittedly, Skylar tossing her earrings to the side like they were trash stung a little. She knew they couldn't compare to her's, she wasn't trying to. She was just trying to do enough with her clothes to distract from the accessories. The accessories were never meant to be looked at hard, the clothes were the main attraction.

Next time that you go shopping take me with you. Or shop through the shit I have here. I don't wear any of it.

She'd win her first major tournament one day. She'd win a grandslam tournament, get a big purse and sign some major brand deals. She'd be the next big tennis star, a millionaire, and she would be able to have her own closet that and clothes and jewelry that Skylar would approve of. Still, she was appreciative of her giving her permission to pull any clothes and she would definitely take her up on that if she needed to hit a gala or some event to make sure she matched.

Don't tell my dad

Kameron caught the fob as she looked over it. She felt like she had the power of the universe in her hand.

He'll probably change the locks again in a few months but you can use that to get into any locked room in the house. Doors auto lock so you don't have to worry about locking up, yeah? you can take whatever you want from in here but stay out of the other rooms. Jina would kill you if you took any of her shit and my dads already paranoid.

"I don't think you have to worry about me. I'll only come grab stuff in an emergency until your dad changes the locks."

Do you have your eyes on anyone? I could put in a good word for you?

She thought about that question for a while. She knew she had eyes for a guy, she had all but told Skylar that on a couple of occasions. Of course for all the good things about Skylar, Kammi knew that sometimes she didn't really listen or pay attention if it didn't interest her. That was the case for most people, so it wasn't she really got offended about. It was just something that she knew.

"Well to be honest, there's a cutie that I've seen a couple of times. But really trying to get his attention has been awful...his name is Teddy..Teddy Vega. I don't know, I've been trying to get a good a read on him and I just can't. "

If there were ever a chance for Annie to rest, the next couple of weeks was it. She was out of school and only had to deal with work which meant that she didn't have to play musical shifts if she needed to take a test or ask for an hour or so off to do it. She had already worked out with her professors each semester how her attendance would be considering she worked a 24 hour shift every third day, though sometimes professors weren't as accomodating as they could be. Still, she managed to make it through three years with a 3.8 and she was close to graduating and heading to medical school. Which in itself was stressful.

On one hand, yes, she would be bettering herself and going after the dream of being a doctor. On the other hand, she would be letting go of so much. A career she has had and worked har in since she was 18. A partnership with from the last few years with, who was now her best friend Brittany. Sometimes she hesitated because she was afraid to lose her friend, but she knew better. She knew she and Brittany would figure it out. She was basically her wife anyways.

She took a deep breath as she stared at the ceiling of her apartment. Though she had more free time during the break, she still picked up extra shifts. She would save up the money from the extra shifts and continue to build her cushion in case she had to skip a shift for school next semester or when she had to stop working to go to med school. That's why she was working tonight. She could have easily swapped shifts and go enjoy the New Year festivities, but either way it went, she liked being around Brittany and at least she would have that.

Slowly she got to her feet, running her hands through her loose hair as she walked from her bedroom to her bathroom, only wearing her underwear. After a flick of the light switch, she looked herself over in the mirror. She was tired, extremely tired, and she knew it was showing on her face. It was usually easily hidden by makeup and she had been getting more rest as of late, but still it was evident she exhausted.

Slowly she stepped into the shower, letting the water run over her head and down her body. The steam beginning to expand and fill the bathroom as she put her hand out and leaned against the wall. She needed to cwash her hair, she hadn't washed it in a week (which was appropriate for her hair texture) but after a couple of shifts, a little blood here, a little puke there, it was probably time to give it a full wash and condition. The issue? That was an all day event and she did not have time for that. Instead she'd cowash it and throw it into two braids. At least this way she could feel hair was cleaned without stripping the moisture away.

Eventually she was out of the shower, clean, and lotioning up her body and going through her 'work' makeup routine. Once she was satisfied and ready, she looked herself over and nodded. She climbed up into her dodge durango and took a slow breath staring out the windshield, exchanging texts with Brittany, before finally pulling off.

She usually got to the fire station a little early to sanitize the bunk she slept in and the area around it and that's what she did before finding a seating at the table in the common room. She pulled out a textbook from her bookbag and began to read and take notes. It was for a class for next semester but she liked the idea of getting ahead. It helped her when she ran into difficult sections of the class, because she had such a busy schedule, knocking out the hard sections early made it easier when they did come around.

She took a deep breath when she saw the bag plop in front of her and she looked up to see who it was,
"I have been needing this all day you just don't know."
She offered Brittany such a bright smile you could have mistaken her for a spotlight. She stuff her hand in Brittany's bag feeling the 'candy' and pulling it out
"If he chose it, I can trust it's good. It's you I don't trust. Ha. "

Annie looked at Brittany and sighed,
"Come here chica, give mama a hug. I know you want to be there to see their happiness."

Paddy MacCormack

Right. Yes. Rather interesting case, isn't it?

In all fairness, the case was interesting. Well, the cases. This was Paddy's first serial killer case in his little time as an officer, but he had been digging deep into the files of past cases. Mick helped guide him to what to look for and he was searching thoroughly for a connection. There had to be some pattern - some rhyme or reason behind the killer's mindset, right?

He shifted his weight to his other foot before he spoke, "Unfortunately, the most interesting cases are the worst.." His admission was generally common knowledge. There was no fun in catching someone red handed, though it made their lives easier. The fun was in figuring out the mystery which generally only came when something truly bad was happening, at least in his unit. It generally meant someone was killed, drugged, or worse.

I suppose it is quite lucky that you and I will be working together on another case. You did a magnificent job handling the notes last time it made mine and Henry's job quite a bit easier

Paddy couldn't help but chuckle a bit because he thought about how Mick kept his notes. It was similar to the scene in A Beautiful Mind where the chalkboard was covered in what seemed like random formulas all over. It made no sense to anyone who was outside looking in, so Paddy made sure to always make notes about Mick's notes, so he could build a single cohesive file. He'd joke and call him rain man sometimes, but it was one thing he'd give Mick. The man was damn near a genius, "Yeah well you know. Can't let Mick confuse you with a thousand different sentences...hey we should go out for coffee...tomorrow. If that works for you?"

He felt a vibration on his thigh and slowly pulled his phone out, noticed it was his sister and exchanged a few text messages with her before shooting one to Mick letting him know he'd be leaving early to check in on his sister. He quickly slid his phone back and looked at Isabella with a bright smile, "And I mean as a date...."

Lana Del Rey

13 Beaches

The exhaustion clung to her like a veil. She was wed to it, so committed that it would be useless trying to shove it off. This was the life of a nurse.

Three hundred and twelve shift this year. A new record. Chances were if you’d attended Paradise’s emergency department you had met Isabella. Perhaps she was drawing your bloods or taking your pulse rate, or maybe she was the first face you saw at the triage desk. She would don her pleasant smile and baby blue scrubs, lightly creased despite the ironing, and dedicate herself to ignoring the way her eyes watered from tiredness and feet ached from standing.

Isabella’s apartment was unusually neat. After her shift she would drive home in her Picanto, a silver one not two years old and hardly starting to rust, lock the front door behind her, unclasp her bra and remove her trainers, before setting about tidying the place before she finally succumbed to rest. It was a habit that gave her a sense of control – like, if her apartment was okay, then she was okay. She was keeping up with things. She was doing well.

As New Year’s Eve rolled around, she was sure she would be spending it on a ward overseeing a bunch of alcohol poisoned teens and overdoses. To have the evening off might have been an oversight on her manager’s behalf, but like hell was she going to bring it to attention. She quickly made her plans – her brother was wrapped up in whatever bliss the Faust clan offered him, which she shrugged off. She would head to Sky’s alone.

For a while she lingered in the kitchen, glass of pinot in hand, her tired eyes glossing over the people that came and went. All energetic. All excited. For most, the new year was a clean slate. For her it was just a continuation.

She greeted a few familiar faces with the same polite smile she offered patients in the E.R – quiet acknowledgement. It was almost a plea: please don’t engage me in small talk.

And so, taking a sip of her wine, she expected her night to wrap up quickly. It was hard to enjoy anything when all you could think of was lying down. She sighed, brushing a strand of hair from her face. Out of the corner of her eye, through a small crowd of people, she caught a glimpse of a man whose face had stayed in the back of her mind for over a week. Their encounter had only been brief – she’d taken his observations, collected some bloods. She complimented him on his ability to handle a needle as she inserted a canula. He shrugged.

And here he was – the same neutral expression, the same confidence in his shoulders. She took another sip, her lips pursing together as she recalled his name from his fleeting hospital visit. Ah, yes. Claudio.

;; Ezra
Ezra rolled his eyes as Oceanna teased him back and claimed the food. Rightfully so, he'd been sleeping on her couch so often he'd considered just moving out of his apartment altogether to save on rent. She fully deserved any snacks she wanted. "Yeah, yeah," he scoffed, "Not yours if I eat them all first though." He reached into the bag and pulled out the can of chips, opening it and beginning to snack as he watched her roll up. Sitting next to her on the couch, he immediately noticed how close they were. He'd be lying if he said it didn't bother him. He wasn't sure if it was in a good or bad way though. He liked his personal space, getting annoyed about being too physically close to someone was typical of him. But this wasn't annoyance, it was something that felt far different and extremely unfamiliar.

He took the joint she handed to him and lit up. "Didn't you know I save my misery for special occasions?" he shrugged, taking a hit. That wasn't true, Ezra would be miserable any time, any place. This particular misery was brought on by his uncertainty of his feelings about Oce, but you couldn't torture that information out of him if you tried. "Just an awful shift, the customers were all bitches. Everyone had something to complain about. You know, the usual." He sighed loudly, then took another hit. "New year, same old shit, right?"

As he complained, he found his fingertips absentmindedly wandering to Oce's knee, grazing her skin and fiddling with the fishnet that decorated her legs. "Sorry," he muttered quickly, retracting his hand, giving a nearly inaudible apology in fear that he'd made her uncomfortable. An apology from Ezra was uncommon, but in this moment he got scared of accidentally messing everything up with their friendship. Cringing internally about the awkward energy he had brought, he tried to shake off his fears, reminding himself that if she decided she wanted nothing to do with him, it really shouldn't bother him. He should be expecting it with his tendencies. He leaned back on the couch and took a hit. "What's a guy gotta do for a drink around here?"

“The chulos can wait.” Jenny dizzily let go of Teddy's hand and stumbled a couple of steps backwards . “You've met them, they're gonna spend the night chasing after any drunk chick they can find. They won't miss me.” She snorted, absently tugging on her jacket sleeves.

As bad as it sounded, Jenny did not give a flying fuck about hanging out with her coworkers tonihgt. The only one she was hoping to see had already confirmed he was a no-go, so there was honestly no point in trying to hang around them. Plus she rarely got the chance to do any actual dancing these days, something she sorely missed.

Honestly she rarely got the chance to have any fun these days. She felt like she was perpetually working, either at Sundae Funday or the studio. If she wasn't doing that, she was babysitting her niece, and if she wasn't doing that, she was all tuckered out and lying around her apartment like a sloth. Or a sad old person. As comfortable as that bubble may have been, Jenny had to put her foot down and actually do shit that a young person would do every now and again.

“Oh so you're going in on the throuple vibe? I see.” Jenny reluctantly hooked her arm into Teddy's as, a light chuckle fighting it's way to escape her lips. She looked up at Teddy, rolling her eyes as they strode into the house. “This might be the lamest thing you've done.” The young girl lightly teased, gently untangling their arms as soon as they were in the room.

She peeked over at Alessa. As far as Jenny knew, parties were definitely not her friend's scene and she couldn't help but feel a little bit concerned over how her friend would fare in a rager like this.

"You okay?" She whispered, shifting positions so that Alessa was now sandwiched between the two dancers. She hooked her arm around the blue haired beauty, observing her friend's body language. Deep down Jenny knew she probably wasn't giving Alessa enough credit. She was a big girl, she could handle herself. But Alessa's innocence, combined with Jenny's compulsion to quietly take care of everybody she was close to, made it impossible for her to sit back and do nothing. Especially not when leaving her alone meant risking that some gross guy might find her.

The lips of her mouth tug up in a smile. “Wanna dance?” She proposed, dramatically extending a hand. "We've gotta do this now. Teddy's gonna steal you from me if I give him enough time." She teased.

"And I don't want to hear any complaining from you.” Jenny playfully spun around to face Teddy. "You hog dancing with her all the time. Give your poor injured friend a chance.” She crossed her arms around her chest in an attempt to fake looking angry.

Out of the corner of her eye, there was a familar ensemble of black hunched up in the corner. Nope. Jennifer Kyang was definitely halluncinating.

Stella

Salem was proud.

In the years he had known Scarlett he had never thought for a moment that she would truly settle down. Yet there he was, standing amongst a crowd as they all congratulated her and her husband to be on their engagement. He was lucky. Lucky to not only be there for this important event but to have met her at all. She had led him to a family and led him to his friends, people he knew he could count on and trust.

There was truly nothing better.

Unfortunately, though, Salem knew he couldn't stay long. The mountains of paperwork on his desk certainly served as a good enough excuse to leave. Of course Scarlett of all people would understand his absence. As would Francisco. They were just understanding and kind like that. True angels to walk the earth. They deserved each other.

Salem was in the thick of his paperwork when he got the text. His mind had been solely focused on the work ahead of him, some legitimately from the club and some for his other employment. Equally important in Salems opinion. His fuse was already short to begin with and this text was just the topper on the cake. Stella always knew exactly which buttons to push to piss him off.

It was a calm anger that washed throughout Salems blood, though. And anger that only Stella could truly bring out of him, boiling hot yet steaming in the most pleasant ways. At least when she was arguing with him she was out of Coopers grasp and thats all Salem could truly ask for. He was by no means done his paperwork but it could wait. Anything could wait when it was Stella on the line.

It didn't take him long to coerce her location out of her, less than a ten minute text conversation and he was flying out the door, pulling his helmet on and taking off on his motorcycle. Perhaps it was a mistake to let a girl rile him up the way she did but he didn't much care. The thrill of the chase truly got him and he would chase her all the way if he had to. For Stella the chase was well worth the effort.

He pulled up in less than fifteen minutes, knowing if he took any longer she would grow impatient and bored. A smarter man may have sent someone for her but he wouldn't give her the satisfaction of being able to refuse.

"Get on." His order was blunt. He wasn't asking anymore, he was telling. Salem handed her the spare helmet, the one he bought specifically for her and always had secured onto the back for when he was picking her up. His gaze was on her but, of course, it was concealed by the visor. He wouldn't give her the satisfaction of knowing that she held his complete focus. That the only thing his sights were on was her, studying her every move.

Mick Halstead

Mick wasn't sure there was anywhere else where he rather had be in this moment. Getting to speak to Clover in this capacity had been far more rewarding than he even thought of. She was everything, so sweet, so beautiful, and ....wait did he like her?

So, Mr. Cop Man, are you ready to see some fireworks?

Mick raised his wrist to check his watch noting that it was drawing closer to midnight, which meant that he needed to get them to his spot or they would miss the fireworks. So he took a deep breath picking out his phone from his pocket to notice that Paddy had texted him that he needed to leave early for his sister. This was fine, he had dragged Padric out to help and he knew how concerned he was about his sister in general. Padric also was still young and very dedicated to the job, so he knew it would be times where he got it back. Besides, Jessie, JJ, Miggy and whomever else was there to cover. He'd get JJ to the front door and everything would be fine.

So he made sure to text his boss, well Skylar, to let her know what was going on, but she didn't care which was fine. He mainly did it because he knew that's what he was supposed to do. So he got to his feet like she did and smiled, "Yeah it is time for some fireworks."

It wasn't a long walk to the truck and they were up and in it, he making sure to turn his flashing lights on, and chirp the siren as he pulled off. He made sure to drive safely, but it wasn't far. When they pulled up, he turned the lights off as he parked.

okay I spent the whole car ride convincing myself that you weren't gonna murder me, but this seems fishy.

"I mean, it's a little too late for that." he said with a smile before shaking his head,"You'll be fine, it'll be nice."

you planning to buy? Woooow, should have had a party here.

It would be a second before he smiled and shook his head,"No plans to buy, just do security consulting." he chuckled before showing her the way to the place. Of course the terrace was nice as these were million dollar homes, but he didn't care that it was nice, I mean it was a benefit, but he cared more that it was closer to the fireworks with a good view.

He watched her as she moved to the rail and took a deep breath.

Wow, way closer than my cliff view

"The view is kind of awesome right? It's way better than my days in Iraq..." he mentioned before taking a long breath and joining her at the rail of the terrace looking out to the sky watching the fireworks. He rested his hand on the rail on top of hers before pulling back a little, clearing his throat.

Arielle was a multifaceted individual. For instance her aesthetic was dark and under the alt subculture, but her gaming setup was as pink as it could be covered with Sailor Moon paraphernalia. So though today she could party and have fun with the rest of them, I mean she loved a good mosh pit, she preferred to focus on bettering herself physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Tonight? Tonight she was going to work on bettering herself spiritually.

She was excited to do her new year ritual, recharge her crystals and prepare her ki for the upcoming year. Get her chakras flowing, all of that. So she started the day with her shift, then it was band practice which Rob was late to, again, but that was fine. Then it was time to get herself together and head towards the beach.

She asked Hayden to join her and he agreed which made her excited on the inside though she was still weary about going all in with him, while Rob was still in the band. Also while she was still letting Rob spend the night at her place from time to time. They didn't sleep together...always...but still, she was afraid how'd he react knowing she was into Hayden. He had asked to spend tonight because he had locked his keys, and she agreed, but she wasn't sure if the way to start her New Year off was with her ex. Old energy wasn't the best way to start her new year.

She took a deep breath as she stepped out of the shower, getting dressed, and standing in front of her mirror as she did her makeup. She took a long look at herself wondering if Hayden would find how she did her makeup for the night attractive or not. Why did she even care? He was thick skulled and a bit of a butthole, but here she was...worried how'd he think about what he'd think about how she looked. Why did she even like him?

A slow sigh escaped her lips as she moved out of her bathroom and texted Hayden that she was on the way. A quick uber ride and she was there approaching him on his bench as she held out a black bag with what sounded like rocks rattling,
"Hey, I'm actually shocked you came, but I'm glad. Don't worry though, tonight we're just going to cleanse the crystals in fire, then let them charge in the water under what's showing on the moon, and pull them out after midnight. Nothing scary...unless you don't like fire."

TL;DR
Max is late for duck feeding, but at least he brought corn. #SafeDuckFeedingPractices
tl;dr
Max Berkowitz

We accept the love we think we deserve.

“Yo Max, are you okay?”

Max’s roommate snapped him out of his trance with a sharp tap on the shoulder. For a split second, the fog in Max’s blue eyes dissipated as his lids snapped wide open, his shoulders tensing all the way down his back. “Yeah, I’m fine!” he assured hurriedly, the thumb of his flattened hand lightly tapping his chest. His wild-eyed startled expression did not at all compliment his words. “Fine. Just fine. I promise.”

“...Cool, ‘cause you’ve been pacing back and forth with that bag of corn for like twenty minutes.”

Max flinched, looking down at his other hand, briefly unable to remember why he was holding this. He didn't even really like corn.
The ducks.
Oh.

He’d promised his best friend Sarah that they’d meet up and feed the ducks in the park together. While getting ready for that, he must have gotten a little lost in thought. A common occurrence, really… Max always had way too much floating around in his brain at any given time. If it wasn’t for his dorm roommate and some of his more benevolent teachers, he’d be failing out of half of his classes by this point in the semester.

“I told you, I’m fine. I just have an errand to run. I’ll be back.”

“Yeah, but what’s the corn for?”

“Ducks aren’t supposed to eat bread. I read it online the other day.”

“...What?”

“I have to… I’m going to… never mind, I’ll see you later.”

And with that, Max awkwardly turned around and stumbled over piles of laundry and discarded textbooks to get out of his room, leaving his roommate staring bewildered in his wake. Max chose to take the stairs down from the 6th floor of the dorms rather than wait for the often-broken elevator to decide to crawl its way up from the trenches. He was already late; he didn’t have time to waste.

If there was a bus pulling up right now headed downtown, he would’ve taken it, but sitting and waiting for it was out of the question, so he ended up running down the side of the highway all the way to Sarah’s place, finally collapsing on her front step completely exhausted and out of breath. He nervously ran his hands through his hair, trying not to look too sad and disheveled, and cautiously pushed the doorbell. He had no way of knowing if it actually rang or not, so he just had to stand there and pray she would still answer. He was, after all, quite late… but wasn’t he always? Max had a terrible track record with punctuality. It was a miracle he still had a job and an education that he was barely managing, let alone friendships.

At least ducks can’t tell time. They’d never know.

interactions

Teddy and Jenny

This wasn't typical.

Nothing about a flashy party on New Years screamed 'Alessa'. She was greatly out of her comfort zone even thinking about being there... However she was weak to the wants of her best friend. Teddy wanted to go and wanted her to go. How could she refuse? At least there was comfort in Jenny being there with her.

Despite the nerves running rampant throughout her, Alessa put a delicate smile on her face as she gently and graciously took Teddy's hand, sliding out of the car. Dancing with Teddy was such a natural thing for her to do. It didn't matter what kind of dance they did, they fell into step so quickly, seemingly knowing what the other was was going to do.

Her smile was now genuine. Somehow he could make all of her worries slip away so easily, carelessly, almost as if he didn't quite know what he was doing to her.

"You ask as though I could ever refuse a dance with you." She teases back as he dipped her down, her loose hair fluttering about her, catching up with their movements. Her heart raced as he brought her back up toward him, making sure she was settled before moving on. The skin on her arms rose up as she started to move toward the party, stopping to look back at her friends, waiting for them. She wrapped her arms around herself in an almost nervous gesture, only moving once Jenny moved.

Of course she happily took Teddy's arm when he offered it, feeling a sense of calm rush over her as they all walked together. At least she wasn't alone. She couldn't do this alone.

The party was loud. Louder than anything she was really used to. That nervousness set in again, making a home at the pit of her stomach as she observed the many, many faces around her. None she really knew all too well. Her hermit lifestyle quickly rearing its ugly head as she unconsciously held onto Teddy's arm a little tighter. An overwhelming sense of relief kicking in when Jenny moved to her side to comfort her and distract her.

Alessa nodded softly, "Yeah. Yeah I'm okay. I didn't expect it to be so loud." It wasn't often that Alessa had to raise her voice by any means. Most of her students listened to her quite nicely, knowing that if they did as they were told that she would graciously reward them. She never yelled, in fact her form of yelling was mostly sobbing. Anger wasn't her forte.

"Absolutely. Yes. Let's dance, please." There was an almost pleading tone in her voice, begging Jenny to allow her to do what she does best and wipe away the thoughts in her mind. She knew that there would be drinking and likely some sort of drugs floating about the party. Alessa didn't know Skylar well but she knew of her reputation as a party girl. She offers Teddy a soft smile as she takes Jenny's hand, giving her a soft nod as if to tell her to lead the way.

There was a sense of calm.

Sapphire rarely hurried through the things she did, taking her time in order to guarantee no mistakes were made. Every step she took was considered and every action she made was a conscious choice.

Yet for some reason she couldn't quite understand why she had stayed in that spot, her eyes flitting over the man in front of her and taking him in with a curious gaze. Sure, she took interest in the people around her and enjoyed listening to their troubles and stories. Unsure of why, Sapphire felt the urge to stay there. To talk to him rather than listen to him.

"There is no need to rush. Slow down a beat there, Shillytern. There is many moments in the world and if it should please you, I encourage you to take this moment to relax and allow us to care for you." Sapphire offered the man a small smile, crossing her arms over her stomach and resting her hands on her elbows. A pose of comfort for her as her head turned slightly toward the kitchen. The gentle sounds of Dietre singing a soft to himself as he worked echoing throughout the small eatery.

With his words, Sapphire's attention turned back toward the man, nodding softly as he introduced himself. She wasn't sure what Harbor was but she wasn't going to question it, deciding instead to wait until the next day to inquire to Dietre. He always seemed to know what was going on around Paradise and would likely be able to tell her anything she ever needed to know.

"It is a pleasure to come to your acquaintance, Huey. My name is Sapphire, much like the gem and much like the colour although it is the gemstone that brandished my name. I am the owner of the crystal shop a stones throw away. I suppose many call me Saph or Sapphy if you would like to use those names I would not take offense. Although I suppose I could make the case to say that it would not offend me if you were to call me by any nickname you desire." Sapphire tilted her head slightly as she spoke, her words genuine and soft much like the rest of her. She never felt the need to be anything but.

Annie

At least she got to spend the night with Annie.

If Brittany were stranded on an island the only person she would need would be Annie. Well... the only person living, that is. Annie had helped her through the worst bits of her life without even knowing it. Of course Bri had never kept it a secret from her. Bri didn't lie nor did she withhold information that could potentially be important.

There was no judgment from Annie when Bri broke down or froze up. There was no pity when she helped her. Annie was an angel to walk the earth. And despite trying to push it all away and force down her feelings... Brittany couldn't help but love her.

Sure Britt was close with other people. She loved Scarlett and Francisco but if they died? Yeah. Yeah Bri would be sad but it wouldn't tear her apart. It wouldn't crush her soul. Brittany had kept them at just enough of a distance to be okay if something were to happen. But with Annie? Brittany tried. She tried so hard to keep her walls up. She tired to keep her at arms length and yet somehow Annie still managed to slither into her heart, entwining with every fabrication of her being.

Of course Brittany would never tell her. That was too much and too wrong. Instead she pined, she watched Annie with doting eyes any chance she could and resisted the urge to tell her the truth. At the end of the day it didn't matter. Brittany's heart was too scarred for her to let Annie in that way. Britt was too broken to consider it. It would tear up their friendship and push the only person she had loved other than Colin away. No. Brittany would never tell.

"My taste isn't that bad, Annie. You're just picky." Brittany teased, wrapping her arms around Annie when she offered. She rested her head against Annie shoulder and let out a breath. Somehow she knew exactly how she was feeling and what to say. She broke down those emotional walls so easily.

"I'm okay, really. It could be worse, right? I could be spending the night alone or even worse have Jake as my partner for the night." Britt pulled away from her friend, offering her a reassuring smile, "I'm blessed to have you, you know that?"

Someway, somehow he had calmed her.

Perhaps it was talking about work that eased her mind, allowing her to relax her body a little. It was an unconscious decision anyway. As was the slight flush to her cheeks each time he spoke, his voice catching in her mind and sending shivers down her spine. Such reactions to someone she barely knew and didn't really have the time to get to know.

It was a shame, she thought, that she was unavailable by design. Padric was nice. A kind man with a kind smile that she was unknowingly committing to memory. A tool to use later when she needed to find an inner peace again. Surely he wouldn't want to spend the rest of his night discussing work. There wasn't many people that Isabella knew that find such happiness in the things they do.

Some would call it morbid the way she found pleasure in going over the details of each case. Those sickening images that often brought a pain to her soul. She hated the suffering. She hated the monsters who could hurt someone so willingly. In that hate she felt a need, though. There was nothing better than bringing peace to the suffering families, knowing that although she can't bring their loved one back she can help be responsible for taking down the person who did it. For some it was the biggest thing in the world. The most important thing.

Isabella treated it just that way. The most important thing. Her first priority. And when she one day passed the bar and could practice on her own it would become her life. to Isabella that was okay. She didn't need anything else.

His offer made her pause. A date? Surely he didn't mean it like an actual date. Surely he just meant it as in a meeting of sorts. Perhaps to iron out specific details or to give her information to relay to Henry who, despite her best efforts, was often even busier than she was. Even though Isabella basically took the lead on cases and did majority of the paperwork it was Henry who did the vast majority of the legwork.

In the grand scheme of things he didn't need her. He was more than capable. Isabella knew that and was grateful for each day she spent working underneath him.

"I suppose I could find the time..." Isabella trailed off, pulling out her phone so she could check her calendar for the day. In her mind her most redeemable trait was her organization. Everything was written down. Everything had a spot. Every second planned. It borderlines on obsession, really, but she wasn't too pressed. She made allowances and moved things around.

For this date with Padric? She would make an exception.

After a moment of looking over her schedule, Isabella glanced back upwards at Padric, offering him a smile as she slid her phone back into her bag. "I will be free around noon tomorrow if that works with you. I'll make sure that there is nobody using the meeting room so we may have the space to ourselves... unless you would feel more comfortable in my office, of course. I'm not overly concerned about the location."

What time was it?

Sarah had been sat in her little nook for a few hours at this point, reading her book quietly as she sank deeper and deeper into her beanbag chair. Truthfully if she were to try to describe any of what she had read she would have no idea. Her mind was wandering, as it normally did. There was no rhyme or reason why she had even decided to pick up the book. She could barely read it and she didn't have the audiobook to follow. She had gotten through maybe a few chapter at this point but not very far at all. The book was barely open, perhaps fifty pages? An few hours of reading and this was as far as she got?

Sarah closed the book with a sigh, setting it down as she picked up her phone. All day she had been confused, lost. She wasn't even sure why she kept twitter anymore. At least she had made a few friends out of it. Nice people who treated her kindly... well at least that's what she thought.

A text from her mother came in, reminding her to take her medication and to drink water. A genuine smile spread on her lips as she texted her mother back with a little pink heart at the end of her message. She stood and practically danced to her bathroom, pulling her medication out of the cabinet. She picked up the glass and took the little pill with a mouthful of water, finishing the water before setting the little cup back down by the sink.

Where was Maxie? Had she asked him to come over? She couldn't remember. Maybe she did?

Confused and frustrated with herself, Sarah looked back on her messages with Max, frowning slightly. Right. Maxie had said he wasn't coming. That meant no ducks for her. Hopefully Robert would forgive her for missing just one day.

The girl danced about her home, making her way to her kitchen. She turned on some music, something boppy that was easy for her to dance to. Sarah never paid attention to the lyrics or the style of music. Really she didn't care. She went off the vibes and if the vibes made her feel happy then she would dance along.

There was no rush in what she did, moving about her kitchen to make herself a little snack. Just a little plate of vegetables with some ranch. Something light to snack on before she decided what to have for dinner. Maybe sushi? She wasn't sure. Something delicious, that much she knew.

The doorbell made her jump, was she expecting someone? Probably. She couldn't remember. Still with no hurry she set her snack aside and danced over to the door, opening it quickly. Sarah was terrible for locking her door, she almost never did and her father was constantly hounding her. She just forgot, that wasn't a crime, right?

The moment she opened the door she knew who it was. Those bright blue eyes, that messy brown hair. She would recognize him anywhere.

"Maxie!!" Sarah exclaimed, practically jumping with joy, she immediately threw herself at him, wrapping her arms tightly around him and hugging him, almost knocking the both of them over. She knew better than to talk when he couldn't see her. It had taken her a long time to get into the habit but once she had gotten it she had gotten it. She had even gotten into the habit of trying to use sign language but... Well Sarah struggled to say the least.

She pulled away, smiling up at her friend, her eyes shimmering. "I thought you weren't coming over!! Oh Maxie!" She twirled happily, her attention turning to the bag of corn in his hand, "Whats that?"

Touch Me I'm Sick

Had you happened to be driving around the outskirts of Paradise in the early hours of New Years Day, you’re likely to have passed Stella looking intensely downwards at her phone, inattentively wandering in the vague direction of home. She wasn’t lost, she just didn’t care where she was.

Being on her best behaviour was exhausting. She felt as if for the last 6 hours she was a dog kept on a tight leash. With good reason too, lest she turn the Avidan’s civilised celebration, and her best friend’s engagement, into a debaucherously wild rager. There was no doubt that she had been kept under many a watchful eye from both the Faust and Avidan clans.

She was happy for Scarlett and Cisco, don’t get her wrong, but marriage? She had suppressed any shotgun wedding comments that came to her mind. Not two months in, first a pregnancy and then… anyway. They were happy, Brittany knew how to throw a half decent party, and Stella had almost consumed enough alcohol to feel drunk.

While Scarlett had naturally spent the celebrations with Cisco, Stella had stayed within reach of Salem. Their relationship may have been strange to many on the outside – and granted, it objectively was – but for Stella, at least, it made sense. Salem had the incomprehensible ability to make Stella listen. Salem was the tamer to the lion, the tranquiliser to the horse… but even domesticated animals sometimes acted out.

They never talked about it, never outwardly acknowledged it, but Salem’s stoicism and abundant ability to control drove her wild. Stella would have fun with it – push his buttons, bring him to the edge of sanity, gain just enough of a reaction for her to finally be able to be at peace and succumb to a position of submission.

In that sense, he was different to the other men. With Cooper, her favourite prod to goad Salem with, there were no hard limits. She could scream, shout, fight, insult – and it just went on. There was nothing Cooper could do to quell her. Instead, he could only encourage. With him there was only chaos, and for Stella, chaos was easy.

While, at this particular time, the temptation of Cooper and the hunt for a high was somewhat attractive, she had already rattled Salem’s cage, and there was nothing that could get her off like that could. She paid Cooper the rare courtesy of letting him know that she wouldn’t be making an appearance, and instead put her near inexistent patience to work.

So, there she stood in the damp coldness of the small hours, leaning her back against a tall iron fence, face lit up only from the light of her phone, her motivation for remaining there starting to drift. She peeled through her messages, glancing once more at the conversation with Cooper.

As if he had a sixth sense, Salem’s motorcycle roared onto the street. He stopped just short of the sidewalk, the engine ticking over, his face invisible behind the tint of his visor. She couldn’t help the smug smirk that crept over her lips as she took her helmet. She couldn’t get a real read of him, and it thrilled her. She threw her leg over the seat, the familiar scent of his leather entrenching itself in her nostrils as she pressed herself into his back.

“Safety first, children,” she said aloud, pulling the helmet down over her head.

-

Stella hopped off the motorcycle first, shaking her hair as she removed the helmet. The bright fluorescents of the underground parking garage contrasted with the dead night outside. Around them, it was silent, only the jingle of Salem’s keys leaving the ignition and the sound of her own footsteps to be heard.

“Get much work done?” she asked nonchalantly, watching as he moved off the bike, “or were you just waiting for a distraction?”

Salem didn't say a word.

His quiet stoicism spoke for itsself as they made the journey to his apartment, the helmet just adding to the mysterious nature he seemed to live by. He pulled into his spot, specially reserved for him, in the parking garage of his building. A wave of silence thrust upon them as he turned off the engine of his bike. The sound of his keys jingling breaking the silence just before Stella's voice cut through.

So casual. As if she hadn't just spent the past half hour or so riling him up. Salem let out a breath, just pushing on the barriers of a sigh as he pulled his helmet off his head and sat back on his bike, his eyes searching Stellas as he tried to gauge just what game she was playing.

He could bite.

"I got plenty done." He spoke finally, stepping off the bike and kicking down the kickstand all in one action. A practiced move almost as if he did it a million times before. A habit, really. "But it is late, no? Not the time to be working on paperwork now."

Deep green eyes turned from the womans face as Salem ushered her toward the door, holding it open for her and allowing her to walk toward the elevator as he messed with his keys, pulling out the swipe card that would allow them access to the main building. He strode toward the elevator and swiped he card, the doors opening for them almost instantly. Salem waited for Stella to step on before joining her.

"You aren't here to speak with me about my work, Stella. Why did you leave the party?" Salem reached forward, pressing the button for his floor as he spoke, then leaned against the wall of the elevator, watching the doors close before turning his gaze back to Stella.

Eye contact was important to Salem. He expected her to be looking at her when she spoke to him. He expected her attention as they conversed, especially when it was only them. No excuse was good enough for him and he had no hesitation when it came to demanding for her to look at him.

Uninterested eyes flitted about the room before settling on her phone as it went off time and time again. It was a good thing that Skylar had become a pro at multitasking. Of course it was just Elliot complaining about her not being there and taking too long. Sky rolled her eyes and locked her phone, tossing it to the side to pay attention to Kammi... Well... to sort of pay attention to Kammi.

Still her phone went off, annoying her further. Skylar was already getting annoyed with Elliot. His neediness sometimes drove her insane. She liked him, sure, but she wasn't entirely certain when she became the sole person he chose to piss off and use as fuel to the fire between him and his roommates relationship.

Of course Skylar knew. She wasn't an idiot. There was something going on between them and honestly Skylar was content for the most part.

Her mind wandered slightly as Kammi talked, her interest in this Teddy guy had been something Kammi had expressed before. Now that his name was coming up again Skylar could remember the specifics she knew. Not much, really. She knew of him and knew the basics about him. When it came to his personality she knew nothing, of course.

"Right. The dancer guy." Skylar purred, "How could I forget. He's an idiot if he's not paying attention to you." Sky raised an eyebrow, "Unless maybe his sights are someone else, then in that case perhaps you should pull his attention away. Be direct. Talk to him don't just will him to go over. You want it you go for it. Simple."

Skylar pushed off her bed, her hips swaying as she made her way to her bedroom door. "Which reminds me. Elliot has been driving me crazy tonight so... Feel free to stay in here if you wish but I believe I made sure to send invites to that little studio that your man basically lives in. He should be here." Sky waved her hand slightly, a playful grin pulling at the corners of her lips as she left her bedroom, the door automatically locking behind her.

It didn't take her long to find Elliot. He was camped out in the hallway just down from her bedroom. Of course Daisy was there with him. And some man she had never laid eyes on before. In the back of Skylars mind she seriously considered flirting with him and trying to pull him away from Daisy. Too cruel, perhaps. Daisy and Sky didn't get along at the best of times but Skylar certainly wasn't that much of a bitch... Well maybe she was but she didn't want to deal with Elliot afterwards.

"Quite the hangout spot you've picked, huh?" Skylar teased, leaning against the wall with an easy smile, her eyes flickering over the man with Daisy for a moment. She reached out a hand toward him, "I'm Skylar. Skylar Kennedy. Welcome to the party."

Touch Me I'm Sick

Stella dove her hands into her pockets as Salem held his arm across the door for her. As the elevator opened she stepped across him, close enough that her elbow grazed his abdomen. She was used to him being a gentleman, so much so his actions rarely registered with her; yet there was nothing gentle about him. She enjoyed the irony.

“I told you,” she began, leaning back onto the opposing wall, facing him fully like a bull to a red flag, “I was there, I celebrated, I said congratulations. Maybe it was a bit too civilised, I don’t know. You know how I feel about marriage. It’s not that Cisco is a bad guy – not at all – but, what? I’m going to stand there sipping orange juice out of solidarity, clapping because they want to get a bunch of legalities involved so they can have a piece of paper that says they can never leave each other? Posh, c’monn,

Stella had a habit of looking to Salem with this knowing expression, her eyes wide and devious. It was the closest she got to acknowledging her behaviour, a way of saying, “I know what I’m doing and you love it and I do it so well.” Sometimes she could do it with the tilt of her head, or the purse of her lips; little glimpses of her satisfaction that she would only fleetingly reveal.

“Anyway,” she shrugged, pushing herself off the wall as the elevator doors pinged and opened. “Now I’m here, because you picked me up, so don’t play all coy, acting like you didn’t have the choice to leave me be. Besides, it’s like you said, too late to be doing work, hm? What was the alternative, come back alone to have a relaxing evening by yourself? Unlikely.”

With that, she languished in slowly peeling her eyes from him, stepping off the lift and not hesitating in starting down the corridor to his apartment. She kept her hands in her pockets, only removing them once she was outside his door, her hand beckoning for his key card.

“Give,” she said, not too demanding nor commanding, just flippant. Still, she expected nothing short of a firm rebuttal. It was still fun to try. “Ladies first. Allow me to make myself at home.”
