    I just got a YouTube ad for an app that lets parents control everything their kids do on the internet and now i want to die

    But what happens when the kid has paid for their phone with money they've earned working or something yet their parents still have a right to force everything to be unusable??

    The app COULD be useful and COULD be fine but a lot of people would abuse it and it would go from something to keep their kids safe to something problematic

    That's not what you were referring to. I thought we were talking about the parents' right to use the app, not completely disabling a phone's features. I'd like to know how that could possibly be abused. Even if a child bought their own phone with their own money (and let's assume they pay for their own plan) the Internet the phone has access to is still their parents'.

    I'll have to look up this app. It's entirely possible the ad was exaggerating, but I'm skeptical of your "what if" questions as reasonable evidence. I enjoyed discussing this with you, I had no idea this existed.
