  • “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”
Bad writers are defensive to criticism. Bad writers are overnight 'geniuses'. Bad writers are prideful, haughty and arrogant.

That is true, also. Would you say there is an absolute standard for what qualifies as ''good writing?"

For example, given that someone can look at Franz Kline painting and see he is a great artist, while another individual will view his work as trash (I personally view writing as an art form).

writing is an art form indeed, but being art doesn´t mean there isn´t a univeral objective standard for what is good writing, and the same goes for any other form of art. No, it´s not clear, but it´s just arrogant for us to think that our opinion influences the quality of anything.

Objectively speaking, the product doesn´t change regardless of how you feel about it, so given it´s traits remain the same, so does it´s quality, regardless of who´s observing it.
To put it short, subjectivety is an extremley rare thing and art doesn´t fit in the criteria for what is subjective.
Good writers have accurate awareness of self and others. Good writers admit they are bad writers. Good writers take criticism.
